Alabama State University's new Mechanical Engineering degree in the College of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics can help you fulfill that dream. Mechanical Engineering is the most diverse of the engineering fields, impacting almost all aspects of our lives and embracing many areas of specialization. It plays a role from the buildings in which people live and work, to the cars that they drive daily, to the food that they eat and the tools they use to cook their food. “Receiving a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering could be the most rewarding accomplishment a student will ever achieve ,” said Dr. Audrey Napier, dean of the College of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.“ The ASU program instills a broad-based set of skills and knowledge that serves the needs of major sectors of the modern economy including manufacturing of consumer goods, the automotive industry, the energy sector, and the defense sector.” Graduates from the program can enter the engineering workforce as design engineers, project engineers, manufacturing engineers, research and development engineers, or quality control engineers. “Our innovative program offers workforce-relevant coursework that can expand your career opportunities in industry, government or academia,” said Dr. Derrick Dean , director of the Biomedical Engineering program. Overview. The Mechanical Engineering (ME) program at The University of Alabama (UA) offers the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Mechanical Engineering, the terminal degree within the field. Traditional students complete this degree on the main campus (MA), taking classes on campus and working directly with faculty in a research setting.
The PhD in Aerospace Engineering and Mechanics Curriculum is available on the College of Engineering's webpage. This PhD program is completed primarily online. Testing may require live, in-person proctors to complete exams. Your dissertation proposal and dissertation defense will take place in-person in Tuscaloosa.
