I have built my career from this platform. Nothing in this platform is bad. Yes, they are developing day by day, but you see, to maintain a good market, sometimes you need to be not easy to access in all the fields. I am totally satisfied with proz.com and wish their success.

I found it's not worth the money. At all. Go for the free membership and take nothing that comes from there seriously.

I found that a lot of scammers contacted me from ProZ and I got more trouble from them than help. Another thing I found to be a turn off is that when other members found I was talking a certain language, they contacted me, making nice with me over the phone, finding out how much I charge, what are my clients, only to find out that they were doing that to find out what kind of competition I am for "them". When I would contact them to ask advice, or to just say hi, they ghosted me. Overall, ProZ lured me in(joining a facebook group required a ProZ membership), but once I was in, I didn't gain anything out of it, except I paid them money, or except "a taking" on their part happened. There was no community- but just folks trying to find out about you, what you do so they can discredit you on some level.

ProZ isn't really for beginners

I've heard many times that ProZ.com is good for beginners, however I can't say this is true. At least not for me. When I had a profile I couldn't apply to jobs because I: a) wasn't paying membership b) didn't have certain years of experience. Not paying membership had another disadvantage: I couldn't look up information about agencies I wanted to message privately. Although this isn't big of a deal because I can always google them, it's still stupid... I don't see how beginners can find work there if the majority of posts are for members only and for people with a lot of experience.

Robbed of your money for low-paying jobs

It's hard enough to be a freelance translator, but ProZ takes advantage of you. You can't find a job unless you pay for a membership. There is NO control by the site whatsoever, so the companies trying to hire you are often not offering better than minimum wage. After you paid ProZ to get a job, that's what you get?! Direct applications are the only way to get a job. At least you won't be robbed of your money.

They think they're unattenable and they don't give any damn care about customers who pay their membership. I hate them particularly Yana Dovgopol. This women is a devil in person. Please don't use anymore this website and don't pay for their membership.

This site is a big scam

The site is filled with stuff to the point of being overwhelming. I signed up and paid membership for the year on April 28 and then, after reading the reviews (too late), I wanted out. I managed to find a telephone number, which the voicemail says it's full. Then, I tried the "chat" and it didn't work because it kept taking me to the same page after "verifying my email". I, somehow, wrote a message in customer assistance saying that I want to cancel my membership and my money (portion) refunded, but nobody responds. I will keep myself to the American Translators Association. They are very serious and professional.

Terrible company

Terrible company. They are nice only when you pay for membership and after they can easily disconnect your profile. Discriminate interpreters, and a Complaince officer is so stupid:), his name is Saint Machester. Do not recommend this company to anyone

As a company looking for a translator - website is horrible

I've tried using Proz.com to find a translator. The website is horrendous, borderline unusable. Google 'User Experience Design'! It feels like you launched the website in 1999 then mindlessly added bits and pieces of functionality to it, then lost the blueprints half way through.

Unethical service!

Unethical service! As a translation agency we have been targeted by a group of translator who used Google to translate a large assignment for us. We ended up paying a large sum (over 400.000 USD) in damages to the client and did not pay for the translation these people made. They used Proz to taget us. We provided proof to Proz in form of documentation from our lawyer and Proz still keeps the negative remarks about us on the site. We consider Proz to be a place were you find amateur translators, the real ones you find among those listed but the different organisation that organises translator like ATA etc. The management of Proz lacks every form for decency, are unethical and this is clearly why Proz is going down the drain.

I got a business account there and I…

I got a business account there and I got scammed by someone pretending to be a member of the BlueBoard companies in the platform. We submitted 5 projects for them but they suddenly disappeared after the second reminder of the invoice. I sent all evidence to a ProZ team member but they were unresponsive. I contacted the mother company and they said I was scammed big time. I am not sure how to get my money and the freelancers' money who worked for me on such projects to get their money back.

Good for a beginner, avoid the forums

This might be a good website for a translator to start out with. It has some good free tools and resources but the jobs will go to the lowest offers and these can sometimes be very low, and expect there to be some scammers - clients and translators. There are some good guides and articles for the beginner. The forums\message boards appear to be managed by a small group of translators. Most discussions are full of sexual content and innuendo, and newcomers are bullied or attacked with racist jokes. "Merv the perv" and a few of the other administrators, (seemingly middle-aged men) seem to get their kicks out of writing seedy content. I'm not sure how this can be allowed on what is supposed to a website for professional translators. Join for the free resources and to get some experience.

Lots of scammers are on proz

They show lots of racism and discrimination towards members from 3rd world countries, muslims, and members paying less annual fees and they recruit lots scammers... Also they have very strange rules, that work just fine for unreliable clients or scammers. Recently we faced non payment issues with few companies we met through proz, we still weren't allowed to report the matter on the blueboard record, and proz moderators are always taking side with those with better membership or from the same nationality, race or religion... They do not treat freelancers in the same manner. Very cheap customer service. Not trustworthy. Thank you

Scammers They pretend to have professional translators listed on their site but the fact is that anybody can list and pretend to be a professional translator. There are NO checks at all of the people listed! We ordered a translation, payed a large sum of money up front and got crap back!

The site protects scammers

The site says translators can post BlueBoard entries on translation agencies profiles to let other tranlators know of their experience with such agencies. But that's not true. Proz.com blocks negatives entries, especially feedback reporting non-payment. I have been scammed by a translation agency and Proz.com doesn't allow me to report it

Proz.com a Great Leading Language Provider!!

Proz.com is a leading Company that offers translations!..Actually, it's a great platform for finding translation jobs in all language pairs, frequently updated. Thus outsourcers get in touch with employers, who ask in advance for certain qualifications from translators, thus whole procedure is not done in blind, say so! Translators create their profile, with their strong language pairs, and their resule can be updated any time! Proz has a well structured site, although very big it's easy to explore, all parts, due to its good structure and organization! Proz also offers translation possibility itself online, such as ask and answer Kudoz questions, which has mainly to do with rare words and phrases in all language pairs, all fields, thus translator can share his/her work in a cooperative way and tests his/her own abilities at the same time! Proz also offers other possibilities for translators, such as create invoice for clients online after having finished a job, and on the other side, outsourcers can post translation tasks waiting for replies!-There are other possibilities also, such as sale/purchas of CAT Tools, translation of Glossary, and Glossary creation, for professional translators. All this and more, makes Proz a first class online platform and Leading Provider! Highly recommended; with Proz an experienced translator, but also a beginner can be sure, they'll never stay without work!!

How do I get paid?

When ProZ*Pay receives the funding from your client, you will be notified by email and the funds will be added to your available balance ( https://www.proz.com/pay/account/ ) .  

By default, your payout schedule is set to immediate . That means that the payout will be made automatically within one business day of the pay day. ( Transfers made after 9:00 GMT (5:00 PM ET); on weekends or holidays may take longer. )

If you would like to hold your earnings in your ProZ*Pay account and manually request them, you will have to change your payout schedule. Your payout schedule can be changed through the Settings tab of your ProZ*Pay account or via the following link https://www.proz.com/pay/account/settings .

When your withdrawal schedule is set to manual, you can withdraw your available balance any time by going to the Account overview tab of your ProZ*Pay account and clicking the “Request payout” button.

First, they never pick up the phone, then never call you back when you leave them a voicemail. second, they take time to reply your emails which narrow your time to do your work properly and finally when they send you their work, they dont give you the sources they used and dont amend the changes you ask them.
