Copying Assignments

Up until this point, you have entered assignments one at a time for each section you teach. To speed things up, you can copy one or more assignments from one class to another.

You’d like to copy two new assignments from your first period general Biology class to your other general Biology sections.

How to Copy an Assignment

To get started copying assignments, select the class from which you want to copy assignments.

You will be copying assignments from your current first period Biology class, which is already selected in the Classes pane.

Once you have the correct class selected, you can copy assignments by right-clicking or control-clicking on the Genetics quiz and selecting Copy Assignments .

The Copy Assignments window lists all of the assignments for the class.

By default, the assignment you selected is checked in the list.

Select the check box for the Student Contract assignment so that both assignments are selected.

Then, click Next .

Notice the term menu at the top of the Copy Assignments window. By default, the current term is selected. To copy assignments from one course section to another during the current term, make sure the term menu is set to Semester 1 .

Copy assignments from your first period Biology class to your second and third period Biology classes by checking the boxes to the left of those class names.

First, check 2(A-B) Biology .

Next, check 3(A-B) Biology .

Then, select the due date. Since you are copying assignments from one class to another during the current term, choose Existing to keep the due dates as they are.

To proceed with copying, click OK .

Now verify that you copied the assignments from your first period class into your second and third period classes. Select 2(A-B) Biology in the Classes pane.

You can see the assignments were copied into your second period class successfully.

Try it! Copy An Assignment

Copy the existing Weekly Lab Work assignment for your AP Biology class into the same class.

  • Select your AP Biology class.
  • Navigate to the Assignments tab.
  • Select the Weekly Lab Work assignment.
  • Open the PowerTeacher Gradebook Tools menu.
  • Select Copy Assignments .
  • Make sure Weekly Lab Work is checked and click Next .
  • Copy the assignment to the same class.
  • Add a custom due date.
  • Enter 09/10/2012 as the due date.
  • Copy the assignment.
  • That’s it! You copied an assignment to the same class.

Time to Review

Drag the yellow hotspot to the correct area of the screen and click Submit Answer . Try again if your first attempt is incorrect.

Counselor Assignments

Counselor mass assign.

Counselor Mass Assign allows you to assign a counselor to a group of selected students. To access Counselor Mass Assign , select Special Functions from the main menu and choose Group Functions . Then select Counselor Mass Assign from Functions .

Assign a Counselor

Before assigning a counselor or multiple counselors, you should search for and select a group of students for which you want to assign a counselor . To quickly identify any students who do not currently have a counselor assigned, search for Counselor= and initiate the search. For information on how to identify a staff member as a counselor, refer to User Access Roles .

You can modify the student group you are working with by clicking the number of students from the Mass Assign Counselor page and updating the selection as needed.

  • Select Mass Assign Counselor from the Group Functions .
  • Within the current student selection, you can further specify a group of students by filtering for a specific initial or name, or grade. For instance, if you are working with 12th grade and want to assign Counselor X to students with a last name beginning with A, you can filter for Last Name A.
  • Search for the counselor or counselors you want to assign to this group of students.
  • Click Select for the counselor you want to assign.

Assign to Students without Existing Counselor will assign the counselor to students who do not currently have a counselor assigned.

Replace Existing Counselor will replace all existing counselors with the selected counselor.

Assign as Primary Counselor will assign the selected counselor as the primary counselor. Existing assigned counselors will become secondary counselors.

Assign as Secondary Counselor will assign the selected counselor as a secondary counselor.

  • Click Save .
