A Visit to an Exhibition Essay

An Exhibition is a place where beautiful attractive and artistic things arranged for public shows. It has a great commercial and educative value. Delhi has seen many exhibitions like Railway Exhibition, Post Telegraph Exhibition. International Exhibitions create friendly relations between various nations.

An International Industrial Exhibition was arranged by the Indian Government in Delhi. Last Saturday, I had a chance to visit this exhibition with some of my friends. At the booking windows there was a great rush and every man and to purchase the ticket first.

We requested a gentleman to purchase our tickets also because he was tenth or eleventh in the queue. Thus we took the tickets and end the gate. First of all, we saw a fountain just in front of the gate and it was foaming.

Then we selected to see the styles of the US, Democratic Germany, Poland, Russia China and India and made up our minds to see those stalls on the same day.

First, we entered the U.S. stall and saw a man, who appeared to be just like a magician. He was showing various wonderful things. He converted the sound waves produced by a gramophone into the light waves and focused die light- waves somewhere.

Then as he placed some obstacle in the way of light waves, the gramophone stopped, In the same way, a moving train obeyed his orders. He sad the word  “Stop” and the train at once stopped and when he said ‘Move forward’, it obeyed and when he said “Now move back” the train began to move back.

In the U.S stall, there was a picture-hall, in which three hundred persons could sit at a time. In the picture, the principle of ‘Atomic Structure’ was clearly explained. A magic hand was also a good thing.

Now we entered the stall of Democratic Germany. There, the glass man was one of the interesting things. The Chinese stall was one of the best stalls. On the left of the stall, there was some machinery to which we did not pay much attention. But on the right crockery work was exhibited.

There were also different kinds of fruits made in wax. They looked like real ones. My younger brother wanted to have some of them, but I told him that it was wax. Then we went to the Polish stall we did not take any interest there because there was nothing except large machines.

So we did not waste any time there. It was 9-30pm We were tired and did not want to see more. We decided to leave and come out of the exhibition area. Highly pleased with what we saw there, we returned home in a taxi

An introduction placed near the entrance is a useful way to unite and provide context for an exhibition, but brevity is the key.  It is recommended that introductions be limited to 150 words or less, as is the case with the examples below.

This interdisciplinary exhibition celebrated the creative collaborations between students in John Schott’s Digital Photography Workshop and students in Susan Jaret McKinstry’s Victorian Novel.

The 19th century was the age of the novel. These novels explored the issues of the day, including science, religion, political and social reform, gender, identity, and the role of art. The novels shaped readers, education, printing practices, and social history around the world, and they are still widely read, translated into many languages, reprinted in new illustrated editions, redesigned as graphic novels, and reinterpreted in film versions.

The 19th century was also the age of photography. In 1839, Daguerre took the first photograph of a person, and by mid-century photography was a popular and expensive hobby. Photography was an essential element of Victorian novels, with author portraits as frontispieces, advertisements, and posed “character” portraits as selling points for the novel’s truthfulness and social force.

Example Group Label – “Democracy”

The art of the 1980s was shaped profoundly by an exploration of democracy. Although it is an ideal held sacred by many, democracy is also challenging, for at its core it asks us to respect and protect the rights of those we disagree with.

For many artists, public spaces such as the street became arenas in which to facilitate encounters with art outside of the rarified space of the museum, and in this section we see artworks that use posters, graffiti, and everyday language to broadcast a social message as widely as possible. This interest in the public sphere was complicated by many artists’ observation that, increasingly, television was replacing the street or the public square as a primary site of democratic debate.

Some artists grappled with the new role of the mass media in both political and artistic arenas. The issue of belonging—of who has rights to what, where, and when—lies at the heart of the democratic enterprise. Such issues were to be sorely tested in the 1980s along numerous fronts. Several artists whose work appears in this section made explicit use of immanent critique, a strategy, exemplified by the civil rights movement, that attempts to hold government responsible for remaining true to its highest principles.

What all of the artists represented here shared was the belief that art can and should serve as a catalyst for philosophical and political debate.

Object Captions

Captions are specific labels for specific objects (e.g., artifacts, photos, and phenomena), and they are commonly used in all types of museum exhibitions. Captions are the “frontline” form of interpretive labels because many visitors wander around in exhibits, without attending to the linear or hierarchical organization of information (title, introduction, section label). If visitors stop by only when something catches their attention, the information in caption labels must make sense independently–as well as work harmoniously with all the other labels. Recently, I visited an exhibition that was held in the Science and Art Cultural hall of our town with my friends. It was titled as ‘The Science and Crafts Exhibition’. I was really very impressed with it. It was a huge exhibition, but still not as big as the national and international ones held in Delhi.

In the Science and Art Cultural hall

We entered the gates of the hall at 3 o’clock in the noon. There we saw so many decorated stalls which were colorful nearby. That vast space was decorated in magnificent, bright and pink color and was lit up with countless lights. There seemed to be more and more as we were stepping further into the hall. All the stalls were beautifully decorated by different colors’ chart-papers and fabrics. It was definitely obvious that all the participants had used their skill and imaginations with their shops. There were two sections in the hall. First one was for science projects and second was for the craft projects. All of them were handmade.

Even I and my friends enjoyed some food stalls there. There were some shops selling tea, coffee, cold drinks and snacks where we refreshed ourselves. There were some amusements and rides like merry go round and giant wheel. We spent approximately five hours at the exhibition. All the people including women and children were going from corner to corner. All of them were admiring the beauty and uniqueness of all kinds of stalls set up in the hall. The stalls were looking like small shops.

About Science Section

Our first impression on entering the section of science was like that thing whole thing looked like a fairyland. There were so many scientists who came from all over the India. They belonged to different-different states. We visited so many domes that were presenting science, technology, and communications. There were various kinds of models of computers, satellites, and rockets. We saw some tanks also there that are used in the fights and defense. We felt so proud of our progress in Science and technology. We also had the experience of robots there. There were some other stalls of electronic goods, robot toys, and science fiction books.

About Craft Section

Then we entered into the section of Craft and Art. There were so many Artists and craftsmen from all over the states. They displayed so many things that catch our eyes. The potteries, handbags, textiles, shawls, handicrafts, paintings, hats, jewelry, handlooms, jute crafts were just some of them.

We realized that the craftsmen and artists must have spent months or years in preparing for this exhibition. What we all liked the best were the shawls from Kashmir. It was really amazing to know that what a man can do with his two hands. In the craft section, there were also some prizes for the best-decorated colorful stall, the best artist, the best craftsmen etc. I believe that the craftsman from the Kashmiri stall must have got a prize.

Conclusion (Brief report on A Visit To an Exhibition)

We are really happy as we got such a great opportunity to see the art, craft, and science from various states in this exhibition. I am glad as I got a chance to see the wonders that the people of our country have to offer to the world time to time. The exhibits were really good and polite. They also gave us important information about the different states. We saw so many different cultural aspects of all states of India. I enjoyed our visit to the exhibition very much and I accept that it was one of the best experiences of my life.

The exhibition presented the unseen face of war through its collection of photographs, objects and interviews with people who have experienced or been affected by war. The exhibition was very eye-opening and gave me a much better understanding of the devastating effects of war. I particularly enjoyed the photographs of children affected by war which showed how their lives had been changed forever. I also found the objects on display very interesting, especially the guns used during World War II which were so barbaric. Overall, I thought the exhibition was very powerful and informative and I would definitely recommend it to anyone interested in learning more about the unseeable face of war.

The exhibition, “Reclaiming the Past: The History and Culture of Black enslaved people in America” was a very interesting and eyeopening experience. I never really knew about the history of black enslaved people in America, and this exhibition opened my eyes to a lot of information that I didn’t know before. One thing that I found particularly interesting was the display of artifacts such as clothes, furniture, artwork, and tools from different time periods. It was fascinating to see how each object reflected the culture and beliefs of its corresponding era. Additionally, the exhibit included displays regarding history-making events such as the first African American voter registration in Chicago or Emmett Till’s murder. Overall, I thought that this exhibition was extremely informative and it provided me with a greater understanding of the unfortunate history of black enslaved people in America.

My Thoughts on the Experience of the Exhibition- I was very impressed with the exhibition. It was comprehensive and included a lot of different objects that help to illustrate the presidency. I especially enjoyed the Presidential speeches section, where I could read speeches by George Washington, James K. Polk, Franklin D. Roosevelt, and John F. Kennedy. There were also some really rare photos included in this section, including one of John F. Kennedy shaking hands with Nikita Khrushchev after the Cuban Missile Crisis. Overall, I thought it was a really informative exhibit and it made me want to learn more about each of the presidents who have served in office. Especially since we are heading into an election year soon! One of the most impressive collections in the museum is the Egyptian section. There are pieces from before and after the Pharaohs ruled Egypt, including beautiful painted coffins from around 2600 B.C. The tomb of King Tutankhamun is also well-represented, with splendid artifacts including his death mask and broken sarcophagus. In addition to paintings and sculptures, there are also a variety of antiquities on display in the museum’s collection. These include items from all over ancient Greece and Rome, as well as objects from more recent history like World War II militaria and Vietnam War memorabilia. A Visit To An Exhibition – English Essay

As we entered the gates, I saw many colorfully decorated stalls nearby. There seemed to be more and more as we entered further into the grounds. They were all beautifully decorated. It was obvious that the participants had used all their skill and imagination in doing up their shops.

Artists and craftsmen from all over the state, and several from even other states, were so many things on display that we grew dazed. Potteries, textiles, shawls, handicrafts, paintings, jewellery, handlooms, jutecrafts were just some of them.

All the exhibits were really very good. The craftsmen and artists must have spent months in preparing for this exhibition. What we all liked best were the shawls from Kashmir and the stone sculptures from Andhra Pradesh. It is really amazing What man can do with his two hands.

There were also prizes for the best decorated stall, best artists, best craftsmen etc. To our delight, the craftsman from the Kashmiri stall also got a prize. There were some shops selling tea and snacks where we refreshed ourselves.

We enjoyed our visit to the exhibition very much. We got a change to see the wonders that the people of India have to offer to the world.

The exhibition is the showing or displaying of some art or specified act of items. Now days, painters have to display their paintings to bring them to the notice of the people. In fact, book fairs, film festivals. Music concerts, and beauty contests, are practical all a kind of exhibition.

The most elaborate exhibitions in Delhi are held in the exhibition ground or the Pragmatic Maiden on Mathura Road.

Last week, I got an opportunity to visit a Science Exhibition which was being held in the exhibition ground.

There were numerous posters hanging on the walls. These posters contained maps, charts, pictures, diagrams, tables and statements and research reports, in a nutshell, of various scientific research scholars.

I learnt a lot about different kinds of bacteria and about the development and remedies concerning various diseases.

The engineering feats of India and other countries were also displayed. There were several machines, devices and gadgets which I had not heard or seen before.

India’s progress in the field of Information Technology was also well highlighted.

As I returned home, I found myself too stuffed with knowledge to help boasting about my visit to the wonderland.

A Visit to an Exhibition

 A visit to an exhibition is a novel experience. An exhibition which I visited recently was very interesting. It was one of the largest exhibitions ever held. Being a Sunday there were so many visitors that made it difficult to walk. Men, women and children in their colourful and best dresses were there. At the booking counter, there were long queues. I bought tickets and entered the exhibition ground. Our parents and I enjoyed the exhibition for a long time. The grounds were decorated very well. There were stalls and pavilions of ministries, companies and states. There were many restaurants and stalls. We went from one pavilion to another. There were hundreds of exhibits for the domestic use. By the time we came out of the German pavilion, we were very tired. We went to a coffee shop and had hot coffee. Next we took a round of the stalls. My mother bought a shawl. We visited the village complex. There were village singers, jugglers and folk artists. They were giving their performances. There were carts, wells, pools and bridges in them. We enjoyed a puppet show. By the time, we came out of the village complex, it was evening. We decided to return home. But much of the exhibition was still left unseen, as it was spread in a big open space.

A Visit to an Agricultural Exhibition

An agricultural exhibition was held in Delhi last month. I went to see the exhibition.

The exhibition was held at a vast open ground which was covered with tents, steel structures and plastic coverings in artistic designs.

There was a great rush at the exhibition. The entry was free. There were different stalls, cabins and showrooms of different States and agricultural universities.

I was able to learn about the advances made by India in the agricultural sector over the decades. I learnt through charts, tables and models how the Green Revolution was brought about.

I saw new agricultural implements, machines and devices such as harvesters, diesel pumps, sprinklers, etc. I saw the new seeds and saplings of different kinds of crops and, vegetables.

A central cabin highlighted the progress made by different States in the agricultural sphere. A comparative study of this progress made by different States enabled me to have a fair idea of different kinds of per capita food available to people in different States.

There was a suggestion box where one could make suggestions, if any, for the improvement of agriculture and irrigation in India. Many new ideas put forward by some scientists, students and enlightened farmers were also displayed in the exhibition.

When I returned home, I was full of new knowledge, ideas and imagination. I was eager to do something for the country. I was particularly impressed by the idea of crop diversification and increasing the output of cash crops. I wished that India should be able to export a part of her produce to earn foreign exchange which could be used for industrial development and social security measures.

A Visit to the Exhibition

Last Sunday, I visited an art exhibition held in the capital. It was arranged in the famous Sahitya Kala Academy. I went there with my friends. I am very fond of paintings.

The exhibition had the paintings of many famous artists like M.F. Hussain, Manjit Bawa and Sanyal. There were many visitors to this exhibition as all these artists are very well known all over the world.

Their works were on sale. The paintings were costly. So, I could not buy any painting. I enjoyed seeing such fine pieces of art.

I met students from the art school and made friends with them. I want to be a painter when, I grow up.

This exhibition gave me a lot of inspiration and encouragement.

A Visit to A Trade Fair

Last October I visited the ‘India International Trade fair’ at the Pragati Maidan. It was organized by the Trade Fair Authority of India. Many people from all parts of India and the world came to take part in this fair. Lakhs and lakhs of people from India and the world visited it.

Some of my friends too were with me. We reached the fair at 3 O’clock. There were many long queues at the ticket counter. At the entrance gate our tickets were checked.

Inside we saw many halls of different states and different countries of the world. Each hall looked attractive. There were different halls of almost every state of India. Each Industrial hall has a separate hall for its goods which were well displayed. We saw handicrafts, machines and instruments, electronic goods, toys, leather work, wood-working on furniture, embroidery, paintings, idols of gods and goddesses on metals and stones. There were handloom clothes, sarees with beautiful embroidery on them and silk cloth along with many other things. All these were for sale. Many people were buying these things. Sales girls were seen ex- plaining the quality and function of some of the machines and also telling their uses.

Next were the stalls of machines. Almost many of the machines were new ones-the latest in its series. They were sophisticated but could do the job of many people at a time. These machines were the products of Indians. We felt proud of our country and its engineers who had developed such wonderful machines. Then we saw different kinds of phones, computers and other electronics goods not only of India but also of various countries of the world. We enjoyed watching them. They were all interesting and modern.

After walking and walking for a long time we felt hungry and tired. We went to food stalls where we got eatables of our choice. We took South Indian and did justice with it. It was getting dark. So we decided to go back home. We enjoyed our visit to the trade fair which was both educative and interesting. We had made a few purchases too. It gave us moments of pride too.

Exhibitions are of various types. Some time back, an exhibition of books, paintings, and articles of clay was held at Vigyan Bhawan. It was a very impressive and unique exhibition of its kind. Many halls of Vigyan Bhawan displayed these articles. There was also a sales counter in the exhibition where brisk purchases were made by the people. Another feature of this exhibition was that cards were placed along with different articles containing descriptions of them. These descriptions increased one’s knowledge. Many countries of the world participated in the exhibition. The exhibition lasted a week and attracted a huge crowd. The exhibition left an everlasting impression on my mind.

A Visit to an Exhibition

A visit to an exhibition is an exciting experience. In an exhibition, a work of art, appliances, books or machinery, etc. are displayed.

In Delhi, every year, an exhibition is held in Pragati Maidan which is spread over many kilometers. It is fenced on all sides.

Last year during the winter break, I had paid a visit to the exhibition. At the gate, I bought the ticket. Inside, people could be seen moving leisurely and there was a lot of hustle and bustle. Some people were just passing by the stalls while others could be seen laden with a lot of paper bags. Others could be seen enjoying the refreshments at the various stalls which were serving food of different States. The spicy food of Punjab was attracting huge crowds.

The exhibition was divided into various sections. Needless to say, the toys and books sections were attracting a huge crowd and these were not only children but adults also. All types of books, be it fiction, nonfiction, poetry, etc. were being bought by the people in a large number. The book which attracted a lot of people was an autobiography, Diana—Princess of Wales.

Almost all the States of India had their stalls in it where they had displayed the various types of products manufactured by their States. The Harayana Pavilion had displayed the latest agricultural implements and the Rajasthan Pavilion had on display its craft products, whereas woolen shawls, jackets, coats, etc. were the main attraction of the Himachal Pavilion. J & K Pavilion attracted a large number of people for their excellent embroidery work.

The hall displaying the latest types of machinery in the Japan pavilion was very fascinating. In another hall leather products were on display, but it was not attracting many people. Then the stationery sections could also be seen thronged by the people for the latest pens, pencils and other items.

The stall of our neighboring country Pakistan was attracting a large number of people for their beautiful lacy Salwar kameej and dupattas.

The exhibition was a success because besides business promotion it also helped the cultural exchange between participating countries.

Essay No. 03

Recently, an exhibition ‘Building A New India’ was held in the capital. It was organized by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India. The exhibition was set up in the Triveni Kala Sangam. The chief exhibits were photographs, novels, some sculptures by Indian modern artists presenting Indian cultural inheritance. First of all, I visited the general section of the exhibition where different charts and photographs depicting India’s development in various fields were set. The most impressive photographs among these were those showing India’s nuclear development. The second section dealt with India’s magnificent historical background. I was fascinated by the pictures of the Mohanjodaro excavation. Then I saw the most beautiful and colorful section of the exhibition i.e. the cultural section. It consisted of paintings, sculptures, photographs, etc. The Rajasthani and Gujarati paintings were very colorful and attractive. This exhibition, inaugurated by the Prime Minister, lasted for a week. It proved to be of great educational value. It brushed up my knowledge about India as my motherland. It enhanced my respect for my great country, India. I would very much appreciate it the Indian government organized some more such exhibitions.

Introduction

Exhibitions are held in many districts by the government. The Aligarh exhibition is very famous. With the permission of my father I went to see it.

Outside the exhibition

My brother and I started towards the exhibition. There was a great rush of tongas, motor cars and rikshaws. There was noise as well as dust. I saw a large number of tents outside the exhibition. They belonged to the officers and rich men. They were fenced. I went along the road which was sprinkled with water.

Inside the exhibition

We reached the gate of the exhibition. It was 4 o’clock in the evening. As we went in, we saw shops on both sides of the road. They were very fine. The things in the shops were put in a tempting manner. Roads came from all directions and met at this place. Under a small tower stood the policeman, to control the mela .

Description

We reached the centre of the exhibition ground. Many people were buying things from different shops. We went along the roads in different directions and returned to the centre again and again. At the end of one road, there was a semi-circular yard. It was surrounded by verandahs. In the verandahs there were fine things of art and uncommon things. There were many things made by the school boys and girls of different schools. We passed along them. We were pleased to see pictures, toys and models.

There were rows of shops. On one side there were cloth shops. On another there were copper, brass, silver and nickle pots. On another side, there were things of toilet like soap, oil, socks etc. On another side there were furniture and other household things made of wood. We also saw a good stock of shawls, blankets and carpets. Glass bangles and articles of imitation gold were being sold at one place.

Outside the exhibition ground, there were jhoolas and other amusements. There was a well of death and small shows of lions and snakes.

A large tent

There was a large tent where all kinds of agricultural instruments and models were put for show. We saw them very carefully.

Then we went to the food shops. At one of them we ate some sweets. They were very costly but were very fine.

With few small things we returned home. The exhibition has left a good impression on my mind.

How to write exhibition, artwork & object descriptions

There’s an art to writing compelling exhibition and artwork descriptions. Read on to find out tried and true tips for successfully introducing your exhibition, artworks and objects to your visitors.

Writing Your Exhibition Description

Writing artwork or object descriptions.

The Exhibition Description acts like the entry text panel in a bricks and mortar exhibition space. It is the first piece of text visitors will see and read before they enter your exhibition and it should explain the themes, ideas, concepts and inspiration behind your exhibition.

We have compiled some pointers to help you write a compelling description and successfully introduce your exhibition to your visitors, so keep reading!

1. Include the ‘Big Idea’

The ‘big idea’ of your exhibition answers the question “What is this exhibition about?”. When writing your exhibition description it is important to make sure you include the Big Idea so your audience can understand and make sense of the themes and ideas you are presenting to them through your artwork.

It is also good practice for exhibition description writing to start with the specific and then move to the general, start with the present and work to the past.

This is the opposite to how we normally write as we like to paint the overall picture (no pun intended) before we get to the nitty gritty details. But if you introduce what you are trying to do now first, you can take your audience on a journey as you explain why you are doing this and how it fits into the big picture.

2. Don’t Repeat Your Bio

It is easy to think you have to talk about yourself and the artists being exhibited in the Description. However, this is not going to get the ‘big idea’ across to your audience and they will have to keep reading to the end before they think  “Oh, this is what I’m about to see”.

Instead, on The Exhibit, the Exhibition Entry page has several prominent links to the Exhibitor profiles of the artists, curators, galleries or cultural institutions involved in the exhibition. And on each individual artwork page inside the exhibition, visitors can also read the artist’s bio information (please note this feature isn’t available for Collections Pro users). So there’s no need to feel as though you have to repeat information about yourself in the description as this information is all easily accessible to your visitors elsewhere throughout your exhibition.

3. Avoid “Artspeak”

The art world has a tendency to use lots of jargon and w*nky concepts which are particular to the discipline of art. However, not all these words and ideas will be understood by your visitors and you don’t want to write your description just for visitors who are art professionals or who have done a degree in fine art. If you make your visitors feel stupid, because they don’t grasp the language you are using or the points you are trying to make, they will disengage from your exhibition.

4. Don’t dumb it down too much

But to continue on from the point above, you don’t want to do the opposite either. You don’t want to make your exhibition writing seem like it is for dummies, by over simplifying your language and avoiding central concepts and ideas. Instead write in a direct and friendly way and as though you are talking directly to your audience in person.

5. Keep the structure short and simple

Lastly, if you keep in mind that your Exhibition Description is the same as the entry text panel in a bricks and mortar exhibition space, this will help you keep your description short and concise. You are not writing a long winded essay but instead a description introducing your exhibition concept and rationale. You want to give readers just enough information so they feel engaged and confident to click through into your exhibition and excited to start viewing the artworks.

It is also good practice to keep your overall structure clear and easy to read. This means using shorter sentences and avoiding any dense descriptions. You want to make it seem like you are talking directly to your visitors through your description.

Artwork or Object Descriptions are the blurbs which accompany each of the artworks or objects in your exhibition. They are just like the wall labels which are pinned next to each artwork or object in an offline exhibition. On The Exhibit, Artwork or Object Descriptions are automatically accompanied by the artwork’s title, manufacture date, medium, and size, as well as the artist’s name and a link to their biography. (Note: the artist’s biography information and link doesn’t appear on individual artwork/object pages for Collections Pro users)

Artwork or Object Descriptions are not required in your exhibition for each artwork/object, but when you take the time to add them, they do boost your online exhibition and give your visitors more information.

The more information you can provide, the more engaged your visitors will be with your exhibition, this is because they will grasp what you are trying to achieve and what emotions you are trying to illicit through the art and objects.

To really engage your visitors through your Artwork or Object Description copy, here are some of our tried and true tips:  

1. Don’t make descriptions chronological

You have to remember that even the most diligent visitors aren’t stopping on every artwork/object and reading every description. So, we recommend making each artwork/object description stand alone and able to be read independently of any others, because as soon as visitors read a description that assumes they’ve read a previous one, they end up confused and frustrated.

2. Make it Beneficial

Visitors to your exhibition are looking to find something out when they read your descriptions. If you provide something beneficial to them, an insight into the artist’s creative practice, what the artwork imagery means, or the historical significance or story of the object, you will hook them in. And once they’re hooked, they’ll delve deeper into your exhibition, read more of the other descriptions, look closer at your images and maybe even buy a piece if you have ‘for sale’ works in your exhibition.

3. Tie in the Big Idea

The Big Idea which you introduce in your Exhibition Description can’t just appear just once in the introduction—it has to be a thread that weaves its way through the whole exhibition. This links all the artworks together and creates an overall sense of purpose. Visitors will also be able to follow and make sense of your visual narrative from the first artwork/object to the last artwork or object in your exhibition if you do this.

4. Be concise

Some of the points we have mentioned in our Exhibition Description writing tips above, also apply to your Artwork or Object Description copy. Your Artwork or Object Descriptions also need to avoid any jargon and artspeak, avoid talking down to your audience, and be structured in a simple and readable way.

With Artwork or Object Descriptions, shorter is definitely better, so make sure you get straight to any points you are making. If you’re referencing a historical period, art movement or artist, maybe add a short sentence explaining what or who this is. That way your visitors with art or historical knowledge are reminded and those new to your exhibitions are able to learn something which helps them understand your artwork and objects.

Essay on Science Exhibition in My School [PDF]

School’s science exhibition always meant to be excitement. We need to work on different projects then a single best project wins the title. In today’s essay presentation, we are going to cover an essay on a science exhibition which is held in my school, so let’s dive into the essay!

Every year, our school organises our annual Einstein science exhibition. At the exhibition, all of us present our projects which are later judged and win prizes from the chief guest.

Every year the exhibition is divided into different categories and classes are allotted topics to make projects on. For this year the categories were natural disasters, energy, flora & fauna and pollution.

My class got allotted as the team for energy. Our science teacher also selected some of us as her special volunteers and leaders and I was lucky to get selected as my class leader for the special day.

For this year, me and my friends made quite a number of projects. We discussed for a long time and then decided to showcase a model of how the process of solar-powered cell systems work as according to our research, many are still unaware and uneducated about it. So with the help of our parents and the guidance of our teachers, we started putting together our project.

According to our plan, we would be showing a miniature and realistic type of set up of a model townhouse where solar-powered panels are used to generate power and electricity for twenty-four hours of the day.

So we brainstormed and came up with our plan and basic structure. We used thermocol and Styrofoam sheets to build our house and paint it with acrylic colours. After painting we had applied a layer of varnish to the paints to make them waterproof and so that it lasts for a much longer time.

Next, we used a small piece of cardboard and thick material of carton boxes to create our solar panel and then we stuck thin sheets of fine reflective film sheets on top to replicate solar panels.

After the solar panel dried, we stuck it at the top of the model house as according to our research and knowledge, that was the best spot to absorb maximum solar rays that would help generate sunshine.

Once our solar panel got placed on the building, we started making other accessories that were placed around our house to make it look more realistic. So we used a mix of clay and plastic to create lots of green trees and tiny pebbles of various shades and sizes. Once ready, we placed them around the house and carved a depression into the cardboard.

We covered the area with some clear cling wrap and then painted them plastic blue in colour. After that, we filled it up with some clear long-lasting glue and that is how we created our artificial lake alongside our house.

Once we placed it all in the appropriate places, we painted the rest of them cardboard à mix of green and brown to replicate grass and soil in the city. We also made two small dustbins out of clay and set them near the house to show the importance of recycling bins.

Once we had finished designing and placing our model, we started writing down all of our important information in small placards the size of cue cards. To each of these, we taped a toothpick to the back and then stuck them around the model, explaining the entire process step by step for an easier learning experience.

Once we were done with this assignment, we realised we still had a lot of time to make more projects. So with the help of my friends and teammates, we also created a clay volcano which would erupt. Inside the clay structure, we had placed a bottle with vinegar, dish soap, water and red colour synthetic food dye.

Then when we had to showcase our project, we added a mixture of baking soda and water into the bottle and stirred it a bit. Within seconds, our artificial volcano erupted and it looked so real even our judges were very impressed.

Overall, the Einstein science exhibition was a great opportunity and learning experience for both me and all my friends and classmates. Each project was made with hard work and they were so creative and realistic to look at.

Thanks to the exhibition, we all learned a whole lot of new things about science that we would have never studied from my class textbooks and notes.

On 15th October 2021, Delhi Public School, Roorkee, organised a science exhibition in its school auditorium. A number of students from various classes participated in the exhibition. The science exhibition was held in honour of Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam’s birthday. The chief guest for this exhibition was Mr Shiv Murty, one of the renowned scientists. The exhibition started at 12:00 p.m. and was open to all the parents and students of the school. The Principal of the school gave a commencement speech and announced that the best three exhibits would be selected by the National Science Foundation, India to display in their labs. As the exhibition started, various students presented their projects. Models of solar power energy, space satellites, hydroelectric generators, AC and DC motors, automatic transformers, and robots were built by the students. Mr. Murthy, along with the Principal, went around looking at the different models designed by the students and assessed the descriptions given by the students. The parents, too, looked at the various models put up by the students. Apart from models, the students also organised visual presentations to help everyone understand the concepts of their working models. Mr. Murty gave a speech on the importance of the contributions of the young generations to the field of science and technology. At the end of the exhibition, upon careful inspection of the different models and projects, Mr. Murty selected three projects from Class 5, Class 8 and Class 10, respectively. Everyone who participated in the exhibition were given certificates and mementoes for their excellent efforts. The exhibition ended with the Principal delivering a speech extending her gratitude to Mr. Murty and congratulating all the students who participated in the exhibition.

Report on Inter School Science Exhibition

On the eve of the birthday of Vikram Sarabhai, (August 12, 2021), the Father of the Indian Space Programme, the Science and Research Forum of New Delhi organised an inter-school science exhibition. Candidates from different schools participated in this science exhibition. The Forum announced that the two best exhibits would be kept in the Hall of Exhibits where it will be displayed to the public. Models related to space satellites, different satellites of the planets, the various galaxies, the working of the Hadron Collider and many more things were on display. The members of the Science and Research Forum were impressed by the efforts of the students. The members of the committee had a tough time deciding which two best exhibits they were going to present in the Hall of Exhibits. Every one of the participants was given certificates and mementoes from the Science and Research Forum of New Delhi.

Encyclopedia of Animation Studies Vol. 2: Techniques, Processes, Environments (Bloomsbury, 2026)

We invite proposals for two chapters to be published in the second volume of the Encyclopedia of Animation Studies: Techniques, Processes, Environments (Bloomsbury, 2026). The expansive four-volume series showcases established and emerging scholarship on animation, including transdisciplinary approaches that consider the proliferating forms and functions of animation today. This second volume (edited by Dr. Franziska Bruckner, Dr. Alla Gadassik, and Dr. Jordan Gowanlock), focuses specifically on animation techniques, processes, and environments – how, where, and why animation is made and exhibited.

The following two chapters will address specific gaps identified in the volume. The proposal and draft submission timeline is best suited for emerging or established scholars who are already preparing manuscripts on these topics.

- Seriality : this chapter would address seriality as a production context or organizing form in animation. The chapter can attend to common themes, temporal structures, formal patterns, and/or modes of address in serial animation.

- Theatrical Spaces: this chapter would explore animation’s relationship to theatrical spaces as specific sites of exhibition and/or reception.

We are interested in contributions that can speak to the broader scope of each chapter’s topic, while also articulating a specific argument based on the author’s research. The chapters would be 7,000 words in length.

Proposals should include a chapter title, an abstract (300 words), and a short author bio (50 words). Inquiries and questions in advance of proposal submission are welcome. Proposals should be submitted to Dr. Jordan Gowanlock ( [email protected] ) by Friday, May 31, 2024. All received proposals will receive responses by June 10, 2024. First drafts of chapters will be due by August 31, 2024 for scheduled publication in 2026.

The Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art at Portland State University presents Long Story Short: 2024 BFA/MFA Showcase , an exhibition of work by the 2024 graduates of the Master of Fine Arts in Contemporary Art Practices programs (Studio Practice and Art + Social Practice) and the Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art Practice in the Schnitzer School of Art + Art History + Design. The exhibition runs May 21 through June 8, 2024, with a public reception on Thursday, May 23, from 5 – 7 pm at JSMA at PSU.

The exhibition will feature the work of 31 students ranging in media, including painting, sculpture, mixed media installations, textiles, character design, and publications. In the exhibition catalog essay “On future-making,” author Ella Ray reflects:

“From the painters to the designers to the social practitioners, their breadth of approaches to future-making is reflective of a desire to reject nihilism, to foresee the future against the odds. With each conversation I had with the BFA and MFA candidates, all of which I concluded by asking what made them excited to make their work, it became increasingly apparent how deliberate these students were with their craft. This thoughtfulness translates into a deep study of their materials, continual consideration for their audience and participants, brave commitments to historical accuracy in the face of revisionism, and, maybe most importantly, the courage to dream about what’s next and where their artwork fits into that vision.”

With over 1,100 undergraduate majors, a vibrant and growing graduate program, and a faculty of internationally recognized artists, designers, and scholars, The Schnitzer School of Art + Art History + Design at Portland State University brings students from a variety of backgrounds together to exchange ideas and cross conventional aesthetic boundaries. JSMA at PSU

Located in downtown Portland on the South Park Blocks, the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art at Portland State University opened its 7,500-square-foot space in November 2019. Developed as a cultural hub for university students, the Portland community, and city visitors, the museum aspires to make art and culture accessible to new audiences through engaging programs and exhibitions that feature local, national, and international artists. The museum provides free admission year-round to all visitors.
