Anthahpuram Review: ఆర్య, రాశీఖన్నా, ఆండ్రియా, సుందర్‌ సి నటించిన ‘అంతఃపురం’ ఎలా ఉందంటే?

తెలుగు, తమిళ భాషల్లో హారర్‌ కామెడీ చిత్రాలకు కొదవలేదు. ఈ జానర్‌లో పలు చిత్రాలు విడుదలై బాక్సాఫీస్‌ వద్ద ఘన విజయాల్ని అందుకున్నాయి. ఇలాంటి చిత్రాలు తీయడంలో తమిళ దర్శకుడు సుందర్‌ది ప్రత్యేకమైన శైలిలో గతంలో ఆయన ‘అరణ్మణై ’, ‘అరణ్మణై 2’ చిత్రాలు తీసి విజయం సాధించారు. అవే తెలుగులో ‘చంద్రకళ’, ‘కళావతి’గా విడుదలై ఇక్కడ కూడా మంచి విజయాన్ని అందుకున్నాయి. ఆ కోవలో వచ్చిన చిత్రమే ‘అరణ్మణై3’. ఇటీవల తెలుగులో ‘అంతఃపురం’ పేరుతో ప్రేక్షకుల ముందుకు వచ్చింది. ఇప్పుడు జీ5 ఓటీటీ వేదికగా స్ట్రీమింగ్‌ అవుతోంది. ఇంతకీ ‘అంతఃపురం’ కథేంటి? అందులో ఏం జరిగింది?

కథేంటంటే: జ్యోతి(రాశీఖన్నా) జమీందారు రాజశేఖర్‌ (సంపత్‌రాజ్‌) కుమార్తె. చిన్నతనంలోనే తల్లి ఈశ్వరి(ఆండ్రియా) చనిపోవడంతో ఒంటరిగా పెరుగుతుంది. అంతఃపురంలాంటి ఇంట్లో ఆమెకు దెయ్యాలు కనపడుతూ ఉంటాయి. అదే విషయాన్ని తండ్రికి చెబితే, చదువుకునేందుకు ఇష్టంలేక అబద్ధాలు చెబుతోందని ఆమెను హాస్టల్‌కు పంపుతాడు. 22ఏళ్ల తర్వాత ఒకరోజు జమీందారు కారు డ్రైవర్ ‌(విన్సెంట్‌ అశోకన్‌) అనుమానాస్పద స్థితిలో ఈతకొలనులో పడి చనిపోతాడు. అతడిని ఆఖరి చూపు చూసేందుకు తిరిగి వస్తుంది జ్యోతి. ఈసారి జ్యోతిపై హత్యాయత్నం జరుగుతుంది. ఆ ప్రమాదం నుంచి తృటిలో తప్పించుకుంటుంది. ఇంతకీ జ్యోతిని హత్య చేసేందుకు ప్రయత్నించింది ఎవరు? ఆమె తల్లి ఈశ్వరి ఎలా చనిపోయింది? ఈ సమస్యను జ్యోతి బంధువు రవి(సుందర్‌ సి) ఎలా పరిష్కరించాడు? ఇందులో జ్యోతిని ప్రేమించిన రాఘవ(ఆర్య) పాత్ర ఏంటి? తెలియాలంటే సినిమా చూడాల్సిందే!

ఎలా ఉందంటే: ‘అరణ్మణై’ సిరీస్‌లో సుందర్‌ సి. రూపొందించిన చిత్రాలన్నీ హారర్‌ రివేంజ్‌ డ్రామాలే. ఇప్పుడు వచ్చిన ‘అంతఃపురం’ కూడా ఆ కోవలోదే. గత కొంతకాలంగా బాక్సాఫీస్‌ వద్ద ఇలాంటి హారర్‌ రివేంజ్‌ డ్రామాలు ఎన్నో అలరించాయి. ఈ తరహా కథలన్నింటికీ ఇతివృత్తం ఒకటే అయినా, వాటిని ఎంత ఉత్కంఠగా చూపించామన్న దానిపై సినిమా విజయం ఆధారపడి ఉంటుంది. ఈ విషయంలో దర్శకుడు సుందర్‌.సి పెద్దగా శ్రద్ధ పెట్టలేదు. రొటీన్‌ రివేంజ్‌ డ్రామాను తీసుకుని నాలుగు దెయ్యం షాట్‌లు.. నాలుగు కామెడీ సీన్లు, మరో నాలుగు విజువల్‌ ఎఫెక్ట్స్‌తో సినిమాను వండి వార్చారు. జమీందారు కారు డ్రైవర్‌ చనిపోవటం, ‘అంతఃపురం’లో ఉన్న దెయ్యం జ్యోతిపై హత్యాయత్నం చేయడంతో.. అసలు ఆమెను దెయ్యం ఎందుకు చంపాలనుకుంటోందన్న ఆసక్తి ప్రేక్షకుడిలో మొదలవుతుంది. సరిగ్గా అదే సమయంలో తన కుమార్తెను చూసి వెళ్లేందుకు వచ్చిన జమీందారు సోదరి భర్త రవికి ఇంట్లో దెయ్యం ఉందన్న విషయం జ్యోతి ద్వారా తెలుస్తుంది. అప్పటి వరకూ కథ అంతా సోసోగా నడిపించాడు దర్శకుడు. ఈ క్రమంలో వచ్చే వివేక్‌, యోగిబాబు, మనోబాలల కామెడీ ట్రాక్‌ కూడా పెద్దగా నవ్వించదు. హారర్‌ సినిమాల్లో భయపడుతూ ఉండే సగటు పాత్రలే వాళ్లు పోషించారు. ఇంట్లో ఉన్న దెయ్యం ఎవరు? దాని కథ ఏంటో తెలుసుకునేందుకు రవి రంగంలోకి దిగిన తర్వాతే అసలు కథలు మొదలవుతుంది. అప్పటి నుంచి కథనంలో కాస్త వేగం పెరుగుతుంది. రవి తెలుసుకునే ఒక్కో విషయం ఆసక్తిగా ఉంటుంది. ఆ ట్విస్ట్‌లు కూడా గతంలో వచ్చిన ఒక ట్రెండు హారర్‌ సినిమాలో చూసినట్లే కనిపిస్తాయి. అయితే, దెయ్యం జ్యోతిని ఎందుకు చంపాలనుకున్నదే ఇందులో అసలైన ట్విస్ట్‌. హారర్‌ సినిమాల్లో ఉన్నట్లే పతాక సన్నివేశాలు ఉత్కంఠగా సాగుతాయి. సినిమా ప్రారంభమైన దగ్గరి నుంచి చివరి వరకూ కనిపించే విజువల్‌ ఎఫెక్ట్‌లు మాత్రం చాలా బాగున్నాయి.

ఎవరెలా చేశారంటే: ‘అంతఃపురం’లో నటించిన ఆండ్రియా, ఆర్య, రాశీఖన్నా, సుందర్‌ సి, సంపత్‌ రాజ్‌ ఇలా ప్రతి ఒక్కరూ తమ పాత్ర పరిధి మేరకు నటించారు. ఆర్యతో సహా ఏ పాత్రకూ పెద్దగా స్కోప్‌లేదు. యోగిబాబు, వివేక్‌, మనోబాల కామెడీ ట్రాక్‌ పర్వాలేదు. హారర్‌ సినిమాల్లో ఇలాంటి కాంబినేషన్‌ గతంలో మనం చూసిందే. ఇక తాంత్రిక విద్యలు, సడెన్‌గా దెయ్యాలు కనిపించటం, కుర్చీలు-సోఫాలు గాల్లోకి లేవటం, దెయ్యాన్ని బంధించేందుకు చేసే ప్రయత్నాలు ఇవన్నీ కామన్. సాంకేతికంగా ఈ సినిమా చక్కగా ఉంది. సి.సత్య నేపథ్య సంగీతం హారర్‌ సన్నివేశాలను ఎలివేట్ చేసింది. అయితే, గుర్తుండిపోయే పాట ఒక్కటీ లేదు. ఫెన్నీ ఓలివర్‌ ఎడిటింగ్‌ ఓకే. కామెడీ ట్రాక్‌ను ఇంకా ట్రిమ్‌ చేసి ఉంటే బాగుండేది. ఇక సినిమాకు ప్రధానంగా చెప్పుకోవాల్సింది యూకే సెంథిల్‌ కెమెరా. ప్రతి సన్నివేశాన్ని చాలా బాగా చూపించారు. ముఖ్యంగా హారర్‌ సీన్స్‌, విజువల్‌ ఎఫెక్ట్‌ సీన్స్‌ బాగున్నాయి. దర్శకుడు సుందర్‌ సి. ఎంచుకున్న పాయింట్‌ కొత్తదేమీ కాదు. అదే పాత రివేంజ్‌ డ్రామా. ఇందులో మరో కొత్త దెయ్యం ప్రతీకారాన్ని చూపించారంతే. అయితే, కథనాన్ని ఉత్కంఠగా తీర్చిదిద్దడంలో తన మార్కు కనిపించింది. మంచిపై చెడు ఎన్నటికీ విజయం సాధించదని తెలిసినా, ఆ విజయం ఎలా లభించిందన్నది పాయింటే సినిమాను చివరి వరకూ చూసేలా చేస్తుంది. హారర్‌ మూవీ కాబట్టి, లాజిక్‌లు పూర్తిగా వదిలేయాల్సిందే. హారర్‌ సినిమాలను ఇష్టపడేవారికి ఈ చిత్రం నచ్చుతుంది. సాధారణ ప్రేక్షకులు కూడా కాలక్షేపం కోసం ‘అంతఃపురం’ చూడొచ్చు.  ‘జీ5’ ఓటీటీలో స్ట్రీమింగ్‌ అవుతోంది.

Story ( Spoiler Free ):-

This film is all about the revenge story of Eswari (Andrea Jeremiah) who’s life was spoiled due to Zamindar Rajashekar (Sampath). As expected it’s time for the ghost to take revenge on Rajasekhar and his daughter ( Raashi Khanna ).

Besides Rajasekhar Son In law Sundar. C tries to sort out the issues and find out the reasons behind abnormalities happening in Palace. On the Other hand, Aarya enters the scene as a Palace repair worker who is the actual love interest of Raashi Khanna. All of a sudden ghosts enter into Aarya and start haunting.

How did Rajasekhar spoil Eswari life? How did ghosts start taking revenge? Is there only one ghost or more than that? Why did Ghost survive in Aarya? Did Sundar. C sort out the issues by finding clues? What happened at the end forms the rest of the story.

Positives 👍 :-

• Story and Gripping Screenplay.
• VFX is good.
• Cinematography was lit..
• Comedy scenes are engaging.
• Flashback story.

Negatives 👎 :-

• It a bit lengthy and dragged here and there
• It slow-paced first half.
• Limited Arya character which might disappoint Arya fans.

Anthahpuram is an engaging horror-thriller film and entertains most of the part. Director Sundar. C had given his best in making this horror franchise film. Arya, Rashikhanna , Sundar. C, Yogi Babu, etc everyone did their best in this film.

Cinematography and Production values are top-notch. The only remark is the limited screen Presence of Arya and a few scenes dragged Unnecessarily.

An Engaging Anthahpuram.

Global star, Dhanush is doing back-to-back films in his career. His new Tamil film, Thiruchirambalam has been dubbed in Telugu with the name Thiru. The film has been released without much noise today and let’s see how it is.

Thiru(Dhanush) is a delivery boy who lives with his father(Prakash Raj) and grandfather(Bharatiraja). He shares a close bond with his grandfather but has deep issues with his dad. He is also close friends with Shobana(Nithya Menon) whom he knows from his childhood. Thiru falls in love with a modern girl played by Raashi Khanna but gets rejected. But a sudden tragedy strikes and Thiru’s life turns upside down. The rest of the story is about how Thiru picks up the broken pieces of his family and also ends up winning his love.

Plus Points

Dhanush picks up good subjects always and he has done the same with Thiru. The film is a mature family drama that has a good dose of sensible love. Though the plot looks predictable, the narration is decent. There are not many dull moments as emotions are unleashed in a simple yet moving manner.

Dhanush leads from the front yet again and shows his versatility as an actor. Be it his hatred towards his dad Prakash Raj or the chemistry and love he showcases with Bharatiraja and Nithya Menon are quite good. He leads from the front and gives a settled performance. Raashi Khanna is neat in her cameo.

Veteran director Bharatiraja played a key role and he was outstanding. His scenes with son Prakash Raj and grandson Dhanush will move you to tears in a few scenes. As usual, Prakash Raj gets a meaty role and shines in his character. But the unsung hero of the film is Nithya Menon whose role is endearing and gives selfless love. Though Nithya did not dub for her voice, she gives an amazing performance and holds the film in the last half an hour.

Minus Points

The plot of the film is nothing new and has been showcased in many films. The dubbing is a letdown as both Prakash Raj and Nithya Menon did not dub in their voices. There is a bit of Tamil flavor in the film which might go against the taste of the Telugu audience.

The first half of the film is filled with family emotions. The thread between Prakash Raj and Dhanush is established well but is not given more importance in the narrative. More drama between these characters would have made a lot of difference to the film.

Technical Aspects

A song in the second half should have been edited out. As said earlier, the dubbing of the film is not that great. Production values are decent and so was the camera work. Coming to the director Mithran, he has done a decent job with the film. Though he picks a simple and outdated storyline, his narration is sensible. As he has taken top-notch performers, it makes a lot of difference to the narrative. Mithran has elevated every character quite well and narrated the film in a sensible manner. The emotions are a major attraction and the film has a few episodes that will move you in a few areas.

On the whole, Thiru is a sensible family drama that has fabulous performances. Though the story is routine and predictable, the emotions and strong drama make the viewing easy. Sadly, the film has not been promoted at all in Telugu and this is an obstacle for the audience to come to the theaters. But once they come in, Dhanush’s performance will make this film a passable watch this weekend.
