Ans: The age profile of a country’s population known as demographics, is a crucial factor in understanding the composition of its people. Demographics can show whether a country has more young people or older people. A population with a higher proportion of young people might experience a “youth bulge,” which can bring about challenges and opportunities. It could lead to a potential workforce advantage but also strains on resources like education and healthcare. In contrast, an ageing population might face issues related to healthcare and pension systems but could benefit from the wisdom and experience of older citizens.

It is fascinating how the age structure of a population can shape a nation’s priorities and policies, as it affects various aspects of society, from the economy to healthcare, education, and social services. Understanding these demographics is essential for governments and policymakers to plan for the well-being and development of their countries.

This tree’s unique name comes from its prickly female cones.

Jackfruit tree: In my locality, few people have jackfruit trees in their garden. Birds generally do not eat large fruits of this plant but bats prefer this fruit.

Banyan tree: There is a very old and large banyan tree near the playground in our locality. No one knows who planted it and neither its actual age. Its small red coloured fruits are preferred by many birds.

  • The age profile of a country’s population — does it have more young people than old people, or vice versa? What are the consequences of this?
  • How can we tell how old a tree, a horse, or a rock is?
  • What is the ‘life expectancy’ of various living things, and various populations (how long can they reasonably expect to live)?

Ans: The process of ageing starts as soon as the birth of a living being takes place. As we grow old, we see changes coming in us. Our country is the second most populous nation. India has a greater number of young people than old. This allows enhanced production as well as enrich earning capacity. This also increases the chance of a population boom around the corner.

We can count the age of a tree using rings in its stem. A horse’s age is generally found from its teeth. A rock’s age can be found using the carbon dating process.

The timeline from birth to death is the life span of an organism. The life expectancy varies from one organism to another. A mayfly lives only a day while a giant Olive Riddle tortoise may live for a few hundred years. Humans have an average life expectancy of 70-80 years.

NCERT Class 7 English Chapter 7 The Invention of Vita-Wonk is a very interesting story written by Roald Dahl. In fact, this story has been taken from the novel written by him “Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator”. This story starts with Mr. Willy Wonk, he is an inventor and when Mr. Willy Wonk invented Wonka Vita, which makes people younger. However, everything has a side-effect so Wonka Vite is so strong that it can even make people disappear because their age becomes negative. As a result of this invention, a person actually becomes minus 87, which means he has to wait for another 87 years before he can come back to life.

After this incident, to counter the effects of Wonka Vita, Mr. Willy Wonk decided to invent a drink that would make people grow older, so he travelled around the world in the great glass elevator to look for the oldest living things in the world. Firstly, he collected sap from the 4,000-year-old Bristlecone pine tree, then he took a toenail clipping from a 168-year-old Russian farmer. Then he collected the edd of a 200-year-old daughter and a tale of a 51-year-old horse. Then he took the whiskers of a 36-year-old cat and he also took a flea that lived on the cat, he took a tail of a giant 270-year-old rat and the black teeth of over 97-year-old Grimalkin, knucklebones of a 700-year-old cat Alou. After collecting all these he mixed them all and boiled them, which turned like a black liquid and he tested it on a 20-year-old person, then the person became a 75-year-old person, this means Mr. Wonka successfully invented a drink to make people grow old instantly.

So this was the explanation of NCERT Class 7 English Chapter 7 - The Invention of Vita Wonk. All the chapters of Honeycomb’s explanation with well-defined solutions are available on Vedantu.

3. How did the person become minus 87 of his age in the Chapter 7 of Class 7 English Honeycomb?

In reality, this narrative is based on his work "Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator." This narrative begins with Mr. Willy Wonk, an inventor who produced Wonka Vita, a substance that makes people younger. However, everything has a bad side effect. Wonka Vite is so powerful that it can make individuals vanish by turning their age into a negative number. As a result of this creation, a person's age is reduced to minus 87, implying that he must wait another 87 years to resurrect.

4. To counter the effects of Wonka Vita, what did Mr. Willy Wonk decided, according to Chapter 7 of Class 7 English Honeycomb?

Following this incident, Mr. Willy Wonk wanted to create a drink that would make people grow older to counteract the effects of Wonka Vita, so he traveled across the world in the great glass elevator in search of the world's oldest living beings. He got a toenail cut from a 168-year-old Russian farmer and gathered sap from a 4,000-year-old Bristlecone pine tree. Then he gathered a 200-year-old daughter's egg and a story about a 51-year-old horse.

5. How did Mr. Wonka invented a drink to make people grow old instantly, according to Chapter 7 of Class 7 English Honeycomb?

He took the whiskers of a 36-year-old cat, as well as a flea that resided on the cat, a 270-year-old rat's tail, Grimalkin's black teeth, and the knucklebones of a 700-year-old cat named Alou. After collecting all of these, he blended them and cooked them, resulting in a dark liquid, which he tested on a 20-year-old individual, who then became a 75-year-old person, indicating that Mr. Wonka had succeeded in inventing a drink to make people grow older.

6. What happens to the volunteer who swallows four drops of the new invention? What is the name of the invention, according to Chapter 7 of Class 7 English Honeycomb?

The volunteer begins wrinkling and shriveling up all over as soon as he swallows four drops of the new creation. His teeth begin to fall out, and his hair begins to fall out as well. The volunteer becomes a seventy-five-year-old man before Mr. Wonka realizes it. Vita-Wonk was the product's name. Refer to NCERT Solutions for Chapter 7 of Class 7 English Honeycomb free of cost available on the Vedantu website and the Vedantu app. It has all the questions which are solved by experienced teachers.

7. The age profile of a country’s population-does it have more young people than old people or vice versa? What are the consequences of this, according to Chapter 7 of Class 7 English Honeycomb?

Browning's sentences above demonstrate the beauty of age. For those who have lived the previous parts of life properly, this is the best period of life. The majority of the population in our country, India, is young. The main advantage is that these people can work hard for the country's advancement. We now have scientific procedures for determining the age of a person, a plant, or a rock. The life expectancy of various living creatures varies. In general, tiny organisms such as worms and insects have a limited lifespan. The life expectancy of most animals is lower than that of most humans. Some snakes and sea animals, on the other hand, have lived for a very long time. Elephants, like humans, live a long time.
