The app also arranges the due work in cards that can be swiped away when done. But what I love the most about this app is that the fact it allows you to go subject-wise and view all your upcoming tests, projects, or pending assignments which is a huge convenience for planning your schedule ahead of time instead of the previous day.

Unfortunately, the app doesn’t have a timetable option, but in its latest update, it added a  Calendar View  where you can see your whole month at a glance with your assignments, tests, and projects.

If you’re in high school, you’ve probably got a lot on your plate! You might feel overwhelmed juggling school work, friends, family, and extracurricular activities. You’re not alone. Luckily, there are several steps you can take to make it easier to organize your life. You can start by choosing some tools like a planner or app that will keep track of your schedule. You can also feel prepared for anything once you've developed a good study routine and taken some steps to start planning for your future.

Scheduling Your Time Wisely

• Look at several planners before choosing one. You might like one that has daily pages, or you might prefer weekly or monthly pages.
• Write down all of your to-do items and scheduled activities in your planner.

• Pass the AP exam in History.

• Review notes for 10 minutes each night.
• Start studying for tests 1 week before the test day.
• Ask teacher for extra credit assignments.

• Experiment with different methods. You can always use more than 1 way to study!
• Feel free to use different methods during the same study session.

• Studying in small chunks will also help you better retain information. Aim for about an hour each day.

• Make it clear to your family members that you don’t want to be disturbed when you’re in your study spot.
• Set yourself up for success by gathering all the supplies you’ll need. Grab your books, notes, and computer. Don’t forget to grab something to drink and a healthy snack!
• If you can’t find the perfect study spot at home, consider going to either your local or school library.

Setting Yourself Up for Success in the Future

• English. Take an English class each year and aim for a mix of writing and literature courses, if your school offers all of these options.
• Math. Take at least 3 years of high school math. Look for a combination of Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, Trigonometry, and Calculus.
• Science. Take at least 3 years of high school science. Try a combination of Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Earth Science.
• Social Studies. Take at least 3 years in this area, with a mix of national history, world history, and government classes.
• Foreign Language. Colleges like to see students with a good foundation of foreign language skills, so take at least 3 years in high school.
• Arts. Colleges look for well-rounded students, so take at least 2 years of art courses. These might be studio art, music, or drama.

• For example, if you’re great with words, you might want to take honors English instead of AP physics.
• You might also be able to get college credit or place out of entrance exams by taking these types of classes.

• You can take review and prep courses in person or online. These are really helpful and can make you feel much more confident.

• You can ask the counselor about the best classes to take, wise extracurricular choices, and about which colleges they might recommend.

• The date when each application is due.
• Who will provide your recommendations and when you will request them.
• A schedule for working on each application and when you will complete it. It’s a good idea to start with the application that is due first.

ITS ACTUALLY PERFECT (small suggestion)

At the beginning of starting college I downloaded soooo many planner apps to find one I like the most. Out of all of them, this one is by far the best. This app is the best for students because unlike other student planners, it allows me to put events unrelated to school (ex. If I have to schedule an interview I can just put it in events, etc.) i also like the sleek design and how everything is easy to follow. It keeps me so organized and I can’t live without it now! I just wanted to say how it’d be cool if there were widgets for iPhone, so there’s a concise, widget that displays on my home screen todays class, tasks, homework, events, etc. it’d also be cool if one of the widgets could be the calendar that’s in the app’s home page. This app is my favorite and I plan on keeping it for a long time :)

Like it but you can’t decide what week you want it to be. I had to rewrite my whole schedule. Also the teachers aren’t saving. I also can’t access my old account. Last thing I promise (😛) but I wish I could put some thing for quizzes, tests and project due dates. I low key might just not have seen these features other wise love the app

I love this app but I have a suggestion…

I have a MacBook and I would REALLY like this app. Unfortunately it's not compatible with the version I have. I have the MacBook Air 13-inch, 2020 model (no chip.) And I read that it can only be acquired with a Mac that has an Apple M1 chip and macOS 11.0 or later. Is there anyway to make this app compatible with older MacBooks or make an app like this but specifically for a wide range of MacBooks? I know this is a lot to ask when you’re a developer but I would certainly appreciate it if I could be able to use this app on my laptop. (I am a student and I have this app on my iPad and iPhone and I really want this on my Mac. I love this app but I’d you could please find a way to include older Macs I would love that)

How to Help Your High School Student Get Organized

Plan their week with them, clean out your bags together, help them unlearn procrastination.

By the time your child reaches high school, you may feel concerned that it's too late to instill some basic organizational skills—but the truth is that it's not. In fact, it's more important now than ever, especially if your child plans to attend college.   Being organized is also an important work skill. Use these tips to help your child get organized for high school.

Gone are the days when your child comes home yelling, "Guess what happened to me today?!" More likely, they'll walk in the door and head straight to their room without saying much. If you're like most parents of high school students, you probably find out about things either very last-minute or even after the fact.  

Parenting Tip

A weekly meeting can help you stay in the loop regarding your teen's school progress without smothering your child. Sunday evenings are a great family meeting time for you to go over homework and other important school-related issues.

Everyone should consider bringing their planners or calendars to your family meeting. If your teen doesn't have a planner, be sure to get them one. Work your way through each day asking what everyone has scheduled for work, practices, games, and before and after-school activities. Next, determine all transportation needs. Does your child have a ride to each event on their calendar, or will you need to provide transportation on one or more days?

Next review school-related things. Are any projects due or big tests scheduled? Does your child have all the necessary tools or supplies?

Lastly, cover their social calendar. Do they want to go to the Friday night football game, go to the movies with friends, or have a birthday party to attend? If so, discuss the needs for each event like transportation. Does your child need anything like a special outfit washed or dry cleaned, or a gift for their friend? Then fit the preparation items into your calendars. 

While these weekly meetings will be important to you as you juggle both work and family responsibilities, their true value is teaching your child to think and plan ahead. That's a skill that will come in handy for years to come.

Your child lives out of their backpack all week, just like you might with your purse or briefcase. At the end of your weekly meeting, take time to empty out your bags together. You can lead by example and reinforce the benefits of getting organized and starting the week off on a clean slate.

A backpack has many compartments. Make it a point to have your teen clean out every little pocket so they can get rid of unnecessary clutter and refill the bag with school essentials.

Many teenagers seem predisposed to procrastination . While this will no doubt drive some parents crazy, try resist the urge to micromanage them. Here are some ways to encourage your child to stop procrastinating.

Don't try to have a rational conversation about procrastination with your child when they are in the middle of getting something done at the last minute. Tempers will flare and it's quite likely nothing productive will come out of it.

Instead, discuss the situation at a later time. Ask your child to explain the circumstances that led to the last-minute time crunch. Looking back, is there anything they could have done differently? With that action plan, help them figure out how can they apply it to their next project or test so they'll avoid procrastinating again.

Not all children are taught studying strategies in middle school, which only catches up with them in high school and beyond.

Many schools and tutoring clubs offer study skills classes designed to teach your child how to study efficiently and effectively. Consider enrolling your child in one of these courses. It's an investment with long-term dividends.

Set Expectations and Consequences

By high school, you should have a pretty clear understanding of your child's capabilities. Tell your child what you expect from them in terms of grades and test scores based on their capabilities. Some parents even put them in a written academic contract between themselves and their teen.

Whether you communicate your expectations verbally or in writing, you should also include the consequences if the expectations are not met. Decide with your children what the consequences will be such as eliminating extracurricular activities, no weekend social events, or loss of phone or gaming privileges.

When it comes to time management and organization, one of the best lessons you can teach your child is personal responsibility, self-discipline , and the understanding that there are consequences for every decision.

Don't Bail Them Out

It's 9 p.m. and your child comes running into your room holding a dirty uniform they need for tomorrow's big game. What do you do? If these situations rarely happen, you can, of course, wash it. But if they are a common occurrence, perhaps it's time to stop bailing out your kid.

If you do choose to bail them out, you are reinforcing your child's disorganized habits. You are also sending the message that it doesn't matter if they are organized or not; that it all works out in the end. But you won't be there to bail them out in college, and you certainly won't be there when they get their first post-college job. 

That doesn't mean you need to be stern about this, either. Express sympathy for the predicament and show interest in your child's ideas for solving the problem themselves. You may find that they can get out of the jam without your help. That's a great way to build independence , confidence, and life skills .

Now that they have a planner consider what other organizational needs they might need. A different color folder for each subject can help them grab the right paperwork quickly. Sticky notes for quick messages, sticky tabs to mark important reference material in a book, or sticky dots can help them prioritize their workload.

If they need to store notes for a long period of time try a classic three-ring binder, and get them their own three-hole puncher and tabs. Another option is finding an accordion file folder to organize loose papers.

Also, get them their own timer or watch, or show them how to use the timer feature on their phone (if they have one). We all know the importance of taking breaks during our workday and this same notion can be applied to your teenager. Teach them how a quick 15-minute break may help them overcome writer's block or help solve that hard math problem.  

You could also show them how to use highlighters or colored pens for note-taking. Not only is this great for finding information quickly, but adding a bit of creativity to the learning process can be fun! If you want to encourage them to get even more creative, consider giving them their own whiteboard. You probably use one (or two) to keep track of lists, so why not give them one to help them do the very same thing.

How to Succeed in High School with ADHD: A Teen’s Guide

These academic and organizational tips are designed to help high school students with adhd finish homework, execute long-term projects, manage their time, earn high grades, and avoid feeling overwhelmed..

With the simpler demands of middle school behind you, you’ll need better study skills, time-management tools, and organization strategies than ever. This is also the time to become your own advocate. With your parents’ support, you can be an active participant in getting the help you need. Start by meeting with each of your teachers to explain how you learn best and how they can help you stay focused and organized. When you’re ready, take an active role in your special-ed team meetings to get the accommodations that will allow you to succeed. By the time you leave high school, you should be able to determine when and where you need help, and how to get it. Here’s how to succeed in high school with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder ( ADHD or ADD ).

Academics: What You Can Do

Bring order (and color!) to your notes. Take class notes in outline fashion, using graph paper and colored pens or highlighters to help the main points jump off the page. Use the same technique for reading assignments, so you won’t have to read material twice.

Review early and often. Immediately after a difficult class, review your notes. Then read them again in the evening. Reviewing notes on the day you take them can double the amount of information you retain.

Multitask — quietly. Do your homework or read in class, if it helps you to focus. (Consider sitting in the front, to avoid distractions.)

Break down complex assignments. Complicated, long-term projects can be your undoing unless you break them into manageable chunks.

• In the research stage, use color-coded sticky notes in books and articles to designate each subtopic; cut and paste online materials into a word-processing document.
• Decide on a deadline for each section, and set alarms in your electronic timer or cell phone to remind you when it’s due. Some students promise to show sections to their teachers along the way, to keep themselves accountable.

Follow your interests. Look for ways to weave your passions into papers and projects — you’ll be much more likely to focus. If you’re a runner and you have to write about ancient Greece, for example, research the history of the marathon.

Master test-taking. Check with your teacher about what material will be covered and the format of the test — you’ll study differently for an essay test than for a multiple choice. Break the material down and review it over several days. Tutor other students, or have a study buddy quiz you. Find a memorization strategy that works for you. You might create new lyrics to a popular song, or use flashcards or mnemonics. Students who learn visually may benefit from drawing or building a physical model of concepts.

When in doubt, seek help. If you don’t understand something, get answers from a classmate who is on top of the course. If you’re struggling with a paper, show your teacher what you’ve done so far.

What Parents Can Do

Keep a lower profile. During these pivotal four years of high school , consider yourself less of a coach and more of a partner, working with your child to achieve school success. Each year, pull back a bit more. By senior year, your child should be taking the reins — figuring out what they need, setting priorities, and arranging for the right kind of help.

Start each year with a plan. Sit down with your child to discuss the upcoming school year. What challenges are in store, and what kinds of support might they need? Together, determine who will talk to teachers and school officials, and how and when to approach them. Make sure you both attend meetings to revisit IEP or 504 accommodations.

Quiz your student. They should know their learning style — visual, auditory, or kinesthetic — and have suitable study techniques to prepare for tests. They should also have a feel for which courses play to their strengths and which ones will be a problem.

Get outside help. If your child is confused by calculus or daunted by English composition, bring in a tutor. If they struggle to keep track of assignments or deadlines, consider hiring a coach. At this age, they’re more likely to accept help from others than from you.

Provide a challenge. Teens with ADHD sometimes fail because they’re not sufficiently engaged. Consider moving your child to an accelerated class, or enroll them in a summer course at a local college.

Offer rewards. Rewards are a great motivator, even at this age. Try verbal encouragement, extending privileges, increasing allowance, or a special trip. Frequent rewards, on a daily or weekly basis, work best.

In the classroom:

Use webs, cluster maps, and semantic maps to categorize or identify related information. A central concept is placed in the center of related subtopics, and further details extend from each of the subtopic areas.

Offer alternatives to a written book report. Give students choices — writing a letter to the main character, creating a book jacket or a board game based on the book.

Use different-colored highlighters to emphasize different types of information: one color for dates, another for names, and a third for definitions.

Try tech for quicker reads. A scanning pen scans text as it’s dragged along the page. The pen displays the words on an easy-to-read screen, speaks them aloud, and provides definitions.

Use math computer programs for drill and practice. Many students with ADHD have illegible handwriting, or lose track when doing multiple-step problems.

Encourage students to keep a card file of specific math skills, concepts, rules, and algorithms, along with specific examples of each on the card for reference.

Practice, practice. Answer the sample questions in your textbook. Ask your teacher for more practice problems. Try to teach the problems to another student.

Solving problems. Label each step of your process, and leave plenty of white space between steps, so you can easily see where you went astray.

Writing Tips

Use a graphic organizer. This tool asks basic questions about the topic and organizes material visually to help with memory recall. Distribute pre-printed blank forms for students to fill in, so they can reserve their effort for writing the essay.

Use mind maps — a graphic way of representing ideas and their relationships. Draw circles, write ideas within each of them, then connect and prioritize thoughts.

Allow time for incubation. Set aside your writing and come back to it the next day. You will see potential improvements that can be made.

Organization: What You Can Do

Carve out a workspace. Use the “suitcase rule” to de-clutter your room. What would you pack if you were going away for a week? Put everything else away in a closet or another room. Still can’t see your desktop? Stash anything you don’t use every day in a box near your desk.

Assign everything a place. Get file holders, trays, desk caddies, shelves — whatever you need to organize your work space. Label each container with colored index cards, stickers, or pens. Do the same with your car and school locker. To keep your locker organized, bring everything home at the end of each week and before every school break.

Be bag-specific. Keep a separate bag for books and schoolwork, sports equipment, band paraphernalia, after-school clothes. Assign pockets in each bag for specific items.

Hold on to notebooks. Write your name, phone number, e-mail address, and locker or mailbox number inside the cover or on the first page. If you lose it, the odds are good that it will be returned to you.

Keep a calendar at hand. Always carry an appointment book or electronic calendar — a planner or a smart phone works. Just as you assign a place for your physical possessions, you should designate a time for each of your commitments.

Post a calendar in the kitchen. Include all family events and obligations, so that your teen can add them to his personal schedule. If you both work from electronic calendars, set aside time each evening to update and synchronize.

Keep a to-do chart. Does your teen have responsibility for housekeeping chores ? Post a checklist as a nag-free reminder.

Establish a ready-to-go place. Reserve a shelf or cabinet by the front door, where your teen can park what she needs for school — books, keys, wallet, and meds.
