Helpful Hints for Creating Rooming Lists

For some event planners, creating a rooming list can be a daunting task.  Rooming requests, special rooming needs and the desire to please guests with roommate assignments can be the perfect mixture for a stressful situation.  Here are a few helpful hints for your next rooming lists assignments.

• Check with your host center location to see if there are specific housing assignment forms you need to use.  If not, an Excel spreadsheet is a very easy way to organize your guests into rooms.
• Make sure your guests are up-front about specific rooming needs they may have.  Accessible rooms, first floor rooms, rooms near exits or adjoining rooms might be requested.  These needs must be shared with the host location, as well, as soon as you are made aware of them.  There is often no guarantee for these specific rooms as there are limited types available, but if you make them aware early, the chances for meeting these requests are greater.
• Know what room types you have and clearly communicate this with your guests.  Four guests to a room could mean a number of different configurations – two sets of bunkbeds, two queen beds, four single beds, etc.  Women and senior adults typically do not want to use a top bunk.  Men often prefer a bed to themselves.  Know your audience and adjust your room assignments accordingly.  If someone is adamant about having a room to himself or herself, offer this to them if there is availability at an increased cost to cover the remainder of the room.
• Honor roommate requests when you can, especially if the person attending is a guest of another.  It’s always best if both participants request each other, rather than one person requesting another person without that person knowing.  You can also limit the number of room requests each participant has.  Use your discretion.
• Decide before your event how you will handle room changes.  Can guests switch on their own?  Do they need to come to you to make changes?  Are changes allowed?

In order to eliminate extra headaches when working through rooming assignments, select one person (other than yourself) to take charge of housing.  All requests and changes should go directly through this person.  Communicate this clearly to your guests.  By taking this off your very full event plate, you can concentrate on planning details rather than ever-changing rooming list spreadsheets.

CELE ROOM ASSIGNMENTS 2024 – The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) releases the list of room assignments for the April 2024 Civil Engineering Licensure Exam a few days before the exams.

The April 2024 Civil Engineering board exams will be conducted on April 20-21, 2024, at PRC testing centers located in NCR, Baguio, Butuan, Cagayan de Oro, Calapan, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Koronadal, Legazpi, Lucena, Pagadian, Palawan, Pampanga, Rosales, Tacloban, Tuguegarao and Zamboanga. The Board of Civil Engineering is led by its Chairman, Engr. Praxedes P. Bernardo, and its members, Engr. Pericles P. Dakay and Engr. Romeo A. Estañero.

List of Room Assignments

Examinees are advised to verify the room assignments through the links below or the notices and announcements posted on the PRC official website. Here is the list of room assignments for the April 2024 Civil Engineering licensure exams.

Examinees shall report before 5:30 in the morning on the said date because latecomers will not be admitted.

What to bring on the day of exams?

Here are the things to bring during the examination proper:

• Notice of Admission
• Official Receipt
• Two (2) or more pencils (No. 2)
• Ball pens (black ink only)
• One (1) piece long brown envelope
• One (1) piece long transparent/plastic envelope (for keeping your valuables and other allowed items)

What to wear on examination day?

Here are the specified dress codes from PRC:

• For male examinees, a white polo shirt with a collar (without any seal, logo, or mark), decent pants or slacks
• For female examinees, a white blouse or shirt with a collar (without any seal, logo, or mark), decent pants or slacks

What are not allowed during board exams?

• Books, notes, review materials, and other printed materials containing coded information or formulas
• Programmable calculators and calculators with embedded functions.
• Apple, Samsung, and other smartwatches, cellular phones, ear plugs, transmitters, portable computers, Bluetooth, and other electronic devices that may be used for communication purposes
• Bags of any kind

PRC added that they will not be responsible for any lost personal belongings.

Coverage of Exams

• Mathematics, Surveying and Transportation Engineering (algebra, plane and spherical trigonometry, analytics, descriptive and solid geometry, differential and integral calculus, highway and railroad surveying, plane topographic and hydrographic surveying, advanced surveying, design and construction of highways and railroads, piers, ports and wharves)
• Hydraulics and Geotechnical Engineering (fluid properties, hydrostatic pressures, fluid flow, buoyancy and flotation, relative equilibrium of liquids, hydrodynamics, water supply soil properties, soil classification, fluid through soil mass, stresses in soil mass, soil strength and tests, bearing capacity, compaction, consolidation and settlement, lateral earth pressures and slope stability)
• Structural Engineering and Construction (engineering mechanics, strength of materials, theory of structures, analysis and design of concrete, steel, timber structures and foundation with the application of the governing codes of practice)
