Long Essay on My School Library 500 Words in English

My School Library essay is beneficial to students of classes 7, 8, 9, and 10.

We come into the world as infants. At that stage, we know very little about the world. Kids are all curious and want to know more about things happening around them. Kids love stories of adventures, challenging voyages, mysteries, horror stories, fiction, and fairy tales. They love to explore.

I was introduced to the beautiful world of books by my parents. Every night, my mother or my father read me stories from a storybook before I went to bed. Books were my first friends. When nobody was around me, I spent my time reading them when I had nothing to do. Books opened magical doors that led me to magical places.

When I started primary school, I was awestruck when we had our first library class. I couldn’t believe that so many books were kept in one room and were available for us to borrow and read. Every week I used to borrow two books- one fiction and another reference book. After finishing them, I restlessly waited for our next library class. I loved the dignity of the place. To be able to read anything in such a quiet, calm, and peaceful environment was like a taste of heaven.

Miss Librarian was a kind lady. She gave us recommendations on books that we would love to read. I loved the Geronimo Stilton series. The Library also had a section dedicated to biographies of notable persons. I loved to learn about the life of Mahatma Gandhi.

My school library helped me foster my love for books. Science books also interested me. I came to know about the solar system, the galaxies, stars, and planets. I also loved reading about dinosaurs and monkey-men and the process of evolution. Enid Blyton’s stories were my favorite.

When I was promoted to Class Five, we got a new librarian. I developed my interest in poetry and classic novels. Ruskin Bond and Keki.N Daruwalla were my favorite Indian authors. I loved Robert Frost and his poem Stopping By Woods on a Snowy Evening. Throughout my school life, the Library has been my favorite room. In free periods, lunch breaks, and after-school, I visited the Library and read my books in a calm and peaceful environment. My school library is like a temple-a holy place from where anything can be known, and anything can be learned.

Students cannot possibly buy and have all the books they need. The Library solves this problem. It has all kinds of books- of all genres and themes. It also has various reference books that help me understand my academics better. The hushed environment stimulates higher levels of concentration. To become a better person and change the world, the library serves as the best training ground and starting point.

Long Essay On My School Library

The school library is one of the most important resources a student has. It can provide access to books, magazines, newspapers, and other materials that can help students learn and stay ahead in their classes. A well-stocked school library can also serve as a center for socializing and entertainment for students.

Since schools are constantly changing, it is important for librarians to keep up with the latest trends and technology so they can provide the best possible service to their students. In this essay, I will discuss some of the ways in which a school library can improve student learning.

One of the most important things a school library can do is provide access to current textbooks and other educational materials. Many schools no longer have room for physical textbooks, which means that many students have to rely on electronic versions instead. This can lead to problems because electronic textbooks often lack graphics and pictures, which makes them difficult for students who are not technologically savvy to use. By providing access to physical textbooks and other educational materials, librarians can help students learn how to use electronic resources effectively.

Another way in which a school library can help students learn is by providing opportunities for enrichment activities. For example, librarians may be able to offer book clubs or reading groups that focus on specific topics or authors. This type of enrichment activity helps students build critical thinking skills and expands their knowledge base overall.

Finally, one of the most common complaints about school libraries is that they are not well-maintained. In order to make their facilities attractive and comfortable, librarians often have to spend a lot of time cleaning and organizing the shelves. This task can be time-consuming and boring, which is why it is important for schools to provide funding for librarian staff who can help with these tasks. By providing these types of resources, schools can help their students learn and stay ahead in their classes.

What is a Library?

A library is a collection of books and other media that can be used by researchers, students, and the general public. Libraries vary in size, from small private collections to large university libraries.

Libraries are often associated with knowledge, learning, and research. They provide resources for both personal enrichment and academic research. In addition to books, libraries may also contain multimedia files (such as movies), databases (such as the Dewey Decimal Classification system), archives (such as newspapers or magazines), and manuscripts.

Most libraries are open to the public during regular business hours. Some libraries offer special programs (such as story time) for young children or evening events for adults.

Types of Books

There are many types of books in a school library. Some are fiction, some are non-fiction, and some are for children and young adults. Most schools have at least one section for young adults, which may contain books about drugs and alcohol, sex, and other controversial topics.

One type of book that is not often found in a school library is comic books. This is because most schools believe that comic books are not appropriate for children or young adults. However, there are a few schools that allow comic books to be checked out by students.

Benefits of Reading Books

Reading books has many benefits. One of the most important benefits is that it can help improve your vocabulary. Reading books also helps you learn new information and develop critical thinking skills. It can also help you to develop a better sense of reasoning and problem solving abilities. Additionally, reading books can help you to develop relationships with other people, which can be beneficial in both personal and professional settings. Finally, reading books can provide entertainment and enjoyment, which is important in any lifestyle.

How to Select Books for Your Library

When it comes to choosing books for your school library, there are a few things to keep in mind. First and foremost, you need to think about the types of books that your students will be interested in. Next, consider what resources will be necessary for your library’s collection. Finally, take into account budgetary constraints and the space available on your shelves.

When selecting books for your school library, it is important to think about the types of books that students will be interested in. If you have a younger student who loves animals, for example, they may enjoy children’s picture books about animals. Older students may want to read more serious nonfiction titles about history or science. It is also important to consider what resources will be necessary for your library’s collection. For example, if you are building a science library, you may need textbooks and lab equipment. If you are collecting classic literature titles, you may want hardcover editions instead of paperback ones because they take up less shelf space.

It is also important to take into account budgetary constraints and the space available on your shelves when selecting books for your school library. You don’t want to overspend on books that won’t fit comfortably on your shelves or buy too many copies of a particular title that will quickly become outdated or unavailable. Instead, try to strike a balance between buying multiple copies of popular titles and purchasing obscure but valuable texts that might not be as well known.

Selection Process

The selection process for books in my school library is based on several factors, such as what the students have been reading in their classes and what we feel would be of interest to them. We also take suggestions from parents and other staff members. We try to keep a variety of genres and subjects covered, so that no student feels left out.

We often get requests for specific titles, but we don’t always have them in stock. When that happens, we’ll order the book and then place it on hold for our patrons. If there are any delays with shipping, we’ll let you know as soon as possible.

We also occasionally obtain new titles from publishers or authors who come to our school to give presentations or visit with students. In those cases, we may order a few copies of the book so that everyone can have a chance to read it.

What to Do with Unread Books

We all know that having a well-stocked school library is important for students. However, what to do with all the unread books? Here are a few ideas:

1. Give them away to other schools or libraries.

2. Give them to your local school book fair or charity event.

3. Sell them online or at local bookstores.

4. Donate them to local charities or homeless shelters.

My school library is one of the most important aspects of my education. It provides me with a place to study and relax, as well as materials for my classes. The library also serves as a resource for the community and offers programs and services to students and staff. I believe that the library should provide a variety of resources, including books, music, movies, and digital content. In addition, I think it is important to keep the library open late during term time so that students have access to it after school.

200 Words Essay On School Library

My school has a large library with a wide selection of books on many topics. Twice a week, we have designated time for the library. Each class has a library period during the weekly schedule. My greatest reason to go to the library is that I can read my favourite books there. My school's library is tastefully decorated. It is a sizable hall that is well illuminated and ventilated. There is a huge section in the middle intended for seating children. We sit in rows most of the time. The books are arranged all around the seating area.

Our library is staffed by a librarian and a caretaker. Our Librarian is a sympathetic person. When we request one of the books, she always beams and gives us the book. The library also provides a selection of newspapers, journals, and current events in both English and Hindi. With the exception of those marked "could not be issued," the majority of the books in our library can be signed out. If the book is lost, harmed, or delivered too late, we are charged with a fine. There are many different types of books in the library and I love spending time there.

500 Words Essay On School Library

A school library is a room on the school grounds that stores a collection of books, audiovisual materials, and other content for general use to satisfy users' requirements for education, information, and entertainment. Libraries aim to spark a love of reading among the students who benefit from the most significant resources and environment available here, in addition to helping students with their studies and professors with their research.

Types Of Books

In the school library, there are many books, including fiction, nonfiction, reference, literature, biographies, general knowledge, folktales, cookbooks, craft books, poetry, books in a series, and wordless books.

Importance of School Library

It offers high-calibre novels and nonfiction works that motivate us to read more for enjoyment and advance our intellectual, creative, cultural, social, and emotional development. The atmosphere in the school library is excellent for studying quietly.

As a result, we can learn and understand concepts more quickly. It gives teachers access to important information and reference materials to create and carry out efficient lesson plans.

Thus, every school community member, including students, teachers, and other staff, can benefit from using the library. It aids in acquiring knowledge and skills for personal development.

Role Of A School Librarian

For the school library to operate effectively, the librarian has a crucial duty to perform. A librarian is equipped with the necessary knowledge and abilities to support, encourage, and guide library customers' learning as they grow as readers and learners. The principal responsibilities of a school librarian include those of a teacher, information expert, instructional partner, and programme manager.

Librarians now serve as advisors, information providers, instructional readers, curriculum designers, and teachers and as guardians of literature. They could aid students in accomplishing their objectives.

The arrangement of the libraries has also changed to resemble that of a classroom. The school librarian's job is to create a relaxed atmosphere for learning and teaching while equipping others with resources, knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Library and Education Are Interrelated

Education and libraries inherently coexist and are tied to one another. Gaining information, values, skills, habits, and beliefs is the process of education. To develop their social skills, students must undergo a social revolution influenced by their educational environment.

The result of knowledge and experience gained is education. The library, on the other hand, is the primary repository for the knowledge, data, and materials necessary for the growth of knowledge. Libraries advance the causes of research and education.

My Experience

The school library is the place where I love to spend my time. I love reading novels and literature. In my school, the library is always open, so when there is no class, I go to the library and study some novels by different authors. I love to be in the library because there is always pin-drop silence, and one can read in silence without being interrupted.

Each student has easy access to the necessary tools and reading material in the library, facilitating a successful educational experience. It is essential to a student's life. The school library's layout, modern equipment, and operating principles have evolved along with the times. The addition of the library represents a step up in the level of literacy taught in schools.

Libraries are the repository of knowledge! The library in my school is developed with a special motto to provide study resources to the needy or to those who can't afford to buy stuff. Sometimes, prescribed textbooks are not enough to acquire deep knowledge. Students who want to learn aren’t satisfied until they achieve knowledge on a particular topic. My school library consists of thousands of books and millions of articles by scholars.

I remember one day my best friend and I had a conflict on a Science topic. So we went to the Science teacher directly but he was unable to explain it properly. He suggested that we should take a look at the reference book in the library. The librarian helped us to find the reference book. We finally resolved the conflict with a satisfactory answer.

Our school library has been modernized recently. Earlier, some manual work was needed which took time. Now with everything being automated, it is easier to find any resource in the library. Online lectures have been introduced, which is a new and fun way of teaching.

During exams, students sit in the library for learning purposes. Studying in the library is proven advantageous as the doubts will be solved there only with a bunch of references. Moreover, our daily schooling started with reading the newspaper. According to the teachers, reading the newspapers gives us information about the surroundings. We can even study in depth what is going on in the world. Earlier it used to be in paper format but now it is in electronic format.

The School library is the place where the children get immense knowledge. The books that they read daily are definitely necessary but if they go through other books then their vocabulary will be increased. Not only this, they are going to have good knowledge about various topics that they will read. A school library has all kinds of books, from storybooks for the children to psychological books that the teachers can use for the children and as well as increase their knowledge. Remember if you have read any book then you have just made an investment; there is nothing like wastage of time when one is reading. Spending time on books is not a waste of time at all. You are going to find the usage of the book that you have read once in your life anyhow.

We can’t imagine a school without a library as they complete the school. Yet, there are many schools that do not have libraries. In fact, libraries are the mentors of the mentors.

A library in a school is a must. You are going to get all kinds of knowledge in the library of a school. As much as it is important to read the books related to your subject in the same way it is important to read the books that increase your knowledge. The main reason that you are provided with a library period is so that you can just go beyond the finite syllabus and look for your interest and invest time in that.

The school library provides us with several learning opportunities, uses of computers and reference materials. It provides us flexible learning space to do independent work.

My Visit to the School Library

I remember one of my interesting visits to school library during the free period. The librarian, Miss Jennifer greeted me with a very pleasant smile on her face as always. My favourite section is the cabinet with novels and plays. I love reading short stories, novels and dramas. So, I just inquired the librarian to suggest an interesting book to read. She gave me ‘Pygmalion, a play by George Bernard Shaw.

There was no one in the library at that time. I sat on the chair at the end of the table in the row. Once I started reading I just lost myself in to it. I just went on reading and skipped few more classes as I just did not want to stop reading this book. I was twelve years old and I fell in love with reading. I became absolutely lured by the writing style and story. It grabbed hold of my heart and kept me engrossed till the last word. It was my most indelible reading experience.

Once I finished reading the whole play I smiled to myself and was grateful for such a wonderful experience. I was so happy that I thanked the librarian several times for recommending such a great book to me. I just had a gigantic smile on my face when I left and was super excited to share my reading experience with my friends and classmates. My experience inspired them to read too.

My School Library

Through the years spent in the field of education at close quarters, I have come to realize one important thing that though knowledge might be gleaned in the classrooms of a school, personalities sure are formed within its library walls. A close access to a range of books from academic reference books, to fiction, non-fiction and news periodicals is the most amazing positive influence a school can have on the budding minds and in our case, we were fortunate enough to have full access to our class library from Class III onwards and the massive, School library from Class VII, onwards.

The chief objective of the learning is to instil the love for reading in the young minds and the compulsory library hour every week was a ritual looked forward to, in all earnestness. From a very young age, we were inspired and motivated to issue one book every week to be taken home, usually on Fridays and a discussion would ensue in the following week about the impact of that particular book, no matter how inconsequential, it might be, on us.

Books of Enid Blyton, Nancy Drew, Hardy Boys, Malory Towers, Secret Seven, Famous Five, short stories of Ruskin Bond, O’ Henry, R.N Tagore, R.K Narayana would leave behind indelible impression on the young minds and whet our appetite for more. So much so, that sometime we would finish our books in the middle of the week and swap it with our best friends to have two at one go. Real life accounts of children who would be the recipient of bravery awards every year would always make me hold them in so much awe and respect and instill the need for altruism at that impressionable age.

Fiction would go hand in hand with mythological stories from our epics which imbibed the love for knowing more about the culture of the nation we were born in and made History a more relatable and less dreaded subject. Biographies of people who battled odds to achieve the impossible and set new benchmarks for generations to come made us realize that survival is not going to be easy nor success a birth right but hard work and dedication may just take us that closer to our dreams.

The libraries served another key function. There were in our school some extremely meritorious friends who did not have the privilege of coming from very affluent background and this library was nothing short of the key to all their aspirations. Text books, Reference books, Periodicals and Question banks everything was at their disposal to be used, as per their need and discretion without pinching their pockets and making their journey that much easier.

Having a school library to take care of and be answerable for inculcated in us, from a very early age the need to take good care of property which did not belong to us but involved the graciousness of someone who was willing to lend them out and return them, on time for wider circulation without necessarily having the habit of hoarding everything for our personal use. These life lessons, along with other key learning’s, went a long way in framing the kind of personalities we would have, later in life.

A separate period for every class needs to be provided in the school time-table in which children should be required to go to the library, read books and magazines and take down notes of what they read. These notes, thereafter, need to be checked by teachers. This would give to the teachers an idea what the child most prefers to know about and how he reacts to what he reads.

Essay on School Library

It would be an automatic psychological estimation of the child the way that his personality is moulding; what his interests are and what he plans to become. What he is learning; what he takes interest in, would get reflected in the choice of books or magazines and teachers would get to know the mould and manner of his thinking and working of his mind.

The school library, in order to fulfil its purposefulness, should have books for all ages and for all minds and the librarian, in charge of the library should himself or herself be knowledgable as to be able to recommend what books to be chosen on what subject.

Furthermore, the school library should have a nice, spacious seating arrangement in every way to draw students to it.

Students, during assemblies, should be informed about the utility and usefulness of books and need to be told how books could be their best companions. Books could give them what no other companion can give other companions could quarrel with them; push them and hurt them sometimes; companions can change their attitudes and behaviour but whatever is contained in the books shall ever remain constant and the same for ages after ages. The word once printed in a book shall ever be the same for all times and keep on giving the same message generation after generation.

Milton, a great English poet had said ‘A good book is the precious life-blood of a master spirit, treasured and embalmed in its pages for ages after ages’. Great thoughts, great ideals, great pieces of information deep and varied are provided through books and a library is the treasure house of such thoughts, ideals and information. A school would be failing in its purpose if it does not have in it a library well housed, well equipped, well-staffed and well-furnished.

Essay on “Our School Library” Complete Essay for Class 10, Class 12 and Graduation and other classes.

Our School Library

A library is a temple of learning. A book is the life blood of an author. A book is a treasure of wisdom. So for having the best book every school  has a library. A library is a place where books on different subjects are kept. The school library is for the use of  students and teachers.

Our school has a good library. It is housed in a big hall. The books are kept in many big wooden almirahs. Our librarian manages the library. He arranges books. The  almirahs have glass panes. Besides text books we have books on travels, biographies, history, geography, science etc, in each library almirah. Topics of Subjects are written to find books easily. Different subjects and Topics have different codes.

All the books are arranged subject –wise. Each almirah has a catalogue. One almirah has books on teaching and reference books. They are only for teachers.

There is a class library system in our school. The students do not get the books directly from the librarian. Once a month the class teacher goes to the library. He selects four or five sets of books for his class students. The sets are well- graded. The teacher finds no difficulty in the selection of books. Each set has thirty books. The teacher issues the books once a week to the students in the class library period. The students are expected to read these books during the week. They return them in the  following week. Nobody is allowed to keep a book for more than two weeks.

Our library has a reading room. It is full of tables and chairs. The newspapers magazines and periodicals are placed on the big tables for the use of boys. The walls of the room are  decorated with good mottos and paintings. There is a row of photos of different authors, poets who developed their life for literature and are known at world and Indian level.

The school library is a good way to give general knowledge to the boys. Students beget studious habits. It creates a taste for good books after school life. Biographies from character of  the students. the library creates love for books among the weak boys. It gives chance to make best use of the leisure time. It gives us day –to-day news of the world. Different reference books and dictionaries make our library very rich.

I ma, in fact, proud of my school library. I have learnt punctuality, regularity, habit of hard working and moral teachings from books. It has created love in me for books. A good library in indeed an asset to a school. Our school library hall is very decorated and attractive. We never feel tired here. Beside it, there is class library. We have also poor boys library from where we can borrow books for a whole session.

Essay No. 2

I study in a big school. The library in the school is also a very big one. It has over 50,000 books in it. It is on the first floor of our school and occupies almost half the floor. The classrooms are all on the ground floor. This keeps the library calm and quiet and the noise of the students does not reach here.

The library is huge hall and divided into sections with glass partitions. It has a reading room and one room for the librarian and the staff of the library.

Different sections in the hall are meant for different kinds of books which are placed on iron shelves. One section is meant for languages, one for literature, one for humanities, on for sciences, for sports and so on.

All kinds of books are available in our school library such as books on literature, history, civics, mathematics, physics, chemistry, painting, music, sports, magic, geography, zoology etc.

The biggest section of books in the library contains children’s books. These books cover stores, adventure, fairy tales etc.

I visit the library very often because it is a charming place; I sit and read a book in my free period. Once a week we get a chance to issue a book of our choice.

The library also contributes to a number of magazines and newspapers. A book is given to a student for a week. We have to look after the book and not let it get torn. The magazines and newspapers have to read in the library itself.

Our librarian is a kind man. He helps us locate the books we need. In case of any problems he consults the catalogue to help the students in locating a book of their choice.

I like my school library very much.

My School Library

A library is a must for a good school. No school is complete without a library. A well equipped library is a great asset to a school. It is equally useful for students and teachers both. It helps to develop reading habit. It increases their knowledge. For teachers too , a school library is of great use.

It is generally seen that in spite of the library facilities available in good schools, the students rarely take benefit out of it. Very few students and teachers are seen absorbed in studies in the  libraries. The causes can be many. The work- load on the students is so much that they do not get any time to look for books and magazines or they do not find the matter available in the books catering to their taste. Whatever the reason may be, the trend is quite unhealthy and needs attention.

We are fortunate to have a very good library in our school. Our school library is  housed in a spacious room on ground floor. It is divided into two sections. One section contains books for students while in the other section there are reference books for teachers. The reading room is adjacent to the Library Room.

There are separate tables and chairs for students and teachers where they can sight and read books. The reading room has a large round table. Chairs are arranged around it. The reading room is supplied with a number of Newspapers and Magazines. there are six newspaper stands on which newspapers are placed. Magazines and journals are placed on the table. The reading Room can accommodate more than fifty persons at a time.

There are more than fifteen thousand books in our school library. Books are arranged serially and subject wise in almirahs. The name of the subject and that of the language are written on the alimirahs. Each students is issued a Library Card. At a time , a student is issued a library Card. At a time , a student can get two books form the library. Books are issued for a period of two weeks. Dictionaries and reference books are not issued.

Books are issued to the students during school hours only. Each class has its turn once a week Besides, two periods a week are allotted to each class for the Reading Room. Students can read newspapers and magazines in their vacant periods and during the recess also.

Our librarian knows all the books in the library. He is very gentle and kind- hearted.  He is always ready to guide the students in the  selection of books. An assistant helps the librarian in his work.

Our school library is a place of great attrition  for students as well as teachers. Most of the students devote their vacant periods to reading newspapers and magazines. this has helped a lot in improving the school discipline. Teachers to spend their spare time in the library. They refresh their knowledge. Thus high educational standards in our school are the result of an excellent library.

Our School Library

Even since I was admitted to this school, I was very keen to see the spacious hall, where only the students of the higher classes were allowed to go during the lunch hour. To others it was something very important, where only one could go with the prior permission of the class-teacher. It was on July 20, that I got a chance of peeping through the glass-panes of big door.

I found out that there were some heavy and some small volumes. These were liketoys which even my younger brothers and sisters would like to have. Most of the other books were of an average size and I found that someone was gazing at me.

I could read from the name-plate that he was the librarian. He was having heaps of books on all sides of his table and in shelves. It looked as if he was drowned in a sea of books.

Here I remembered. This library had a Reference Section for teachers also. In all, there were about 6,000 books on various subjects. I was happy that I saw the library that day.

The large playground beckons with its array of sports equipment, while the well-maintained gardens are a riot of colors, thanks to the seasonal flowers. The buildings, with their classic architecture, stand majestically, housing the dreams and aspirations of thousands of students.

These activities teach us the values of discipline, perseverance, and teamwork.

The school library is a treasure trove of knowledge, with an extensive collection of books, journals, and digital resources. It’s a sanctuary for book lovers and a resource center for research and project work. Long and Short Essay on My School Life in English

Essay on my school life 200 words.

School is said to be a temple of knowledge, the very first place that introduced you to the world and more so your own self. My school life is all about the memories I deeply cherish. The memories of not only the fun, friendship and all the sport and extracurricular but also the way it helped me find my interests. I owe it all to my school life. It has made me who I am today.

My school life has been full of different experiences over the years. It gave various opportunities to develop not only my scholastic abilities but also the art and sport side. It supported me in my sports as well as exposed me to numerous types of people. All of this accounted to make me understand how to behave socially and in building a personality which I have today.

There are numerous things that make school life the best phase in one’s life. All of this eventually is because we are young to do mistakes again and again till we realize, dumb enough to not think about people and do what we feel like doing, curious to know everything we can and most importantly still not exposed and contaminated with the evil feelings of this world. And all of this makes us build a personality of our own.

Essay on My School Life Experience 300 words

In my school life, I’ve always been that ideal studious student so I typically don’t have that super amazing bunch of memories like the notorious back benchers except for ones that I remember when I was in my eighth grade.

My School Life Experience

It was a usual day at school until this incident took place. It was about the time of recess when I used to play football with my classmates. One day while I was out in the field suddenly a boy called Stephen Francis who was also the captain of our school football team kicked my brand new Liverpool FC soccer ball out of the school premises, to the narrow lane that passed just behind our school ground.

The walls of our school were a bit high and fenced and like every other school, going out of the premises was strictly prohibited. We partially climbed the wall so that we could have a look on the ball and waited for some genuine person to pass by so that we could ask him to return our ball.

We had to wait for quite long until a guy of almost same age as ours walked by. He was quite far however he saw the ball and went towards it. We saw that he tried to run away taking the ball. So, without thinking twice I and my friend jumped the school wall but till the time we could make it past the wall he was already running with our soccer ball.

We started running behind him and my friend bumped into a bike and was hurt badly. I probably had to let go off my soccer ball and see how she was hurt. She got three stitches from that injury. We were scolded by teachers and principal for this, as a punishment our parents were called to school the next day to discuss the seriousness of the trouble.

Since then me and this friend of mine have been partners in numerous mischief that have made my school life memorable.

Essay on School Life is the Best Life 400 words

Every phase in a person’s life holds special importance as it helps him grow and develop his personality. But one can never learn as much as he does from his school life because that is the time when we are doing everything for the first time. This is the time we can make mistakes and get away with them. We don’t care much about the people around and are curious to try everything out. We build our unique personality from our mistakes and experiences.

How School Life is the Best Life?

Here are some reasons that prove that school life is the best life:

  • Uniform : One hates school uniform while in school but when we grow up we realize how difficult it is to figure out what to wear each day.
  • Holidays : This is the major perk of school life which we crave the most after it ends. We got numerous holidays while in school and spent them in a carefree manner without any stress. We visited our cousins and extended family and also invited them over to our place. As we join jobs, we don’t get as many holidays to relax and enjoy.
  • Friends : The longest known friendships are made during the school days. This is mainly because during this time we can trust people easily. We are also enthusiastic and curious to meet new people, try new things and build new friendships.
  • Teachers : We realize how important it is to always have a guide who still thinks that we are immature for everything and makes us understand accordingly. We cannot get such a mentor/ guide after we have completed our schooling.
  • Homework : A thing which we hate during our school life and tried hundreds of creative excuses to avoid was actually fun. School life would have been so incomplete without it.
  • Punishments and rewards : Punishments used to come in the variety of standing whole period or getting out of the class or going to the principal’s office and the best reward was when someone was made the class monitor.
  • First Experiences : It was the time when we are allowed to make mistakes as too many things were our firsts, whether it was our first crush, first heartbreak without even being in relationship, first fight or first kiss.

All of these experiences hold a special importance in our hearts even as we grow up. They have taught me a lot and have helped me become the person I am today.

Essay on My School Life Memories 500 words

A school is a building dedicated to provide learning space and environment to provide education. It is a building wherein your majority of childhood has passed, a building that everyone misses after they’ve finally left it, same is the scenario in my case. I’ve studied in Don Bosco High School Vadodara, an all-boys Christian missionary School. Hard for other people to admit but being in an all-boys school has got some perks that only those who study here can understand.

My Memories of Primary and Secondary Classes

I’ve been a part of Don Bosco institution since kindergarten until my tenth grade. After tenth in higher secondary I went to Rosary high school, which was more or less like an unofficial dummy school for the students in science stream so I barely have any school memories from higher secondary school. So, the story of my enchanting school memories revolves around my school from junior years.

Like a stereotypical school going kid I used to go to the school in a school van. I would wake up at quarter to six in the morning, get fresh, wear school uniform, arrange my school bag according to the time table for the day and have a quick breakfast by 6:40 am as at sharp quarter to seven my school van would be right in front of my house honking. Then, further half an hour until we reached school was a time for chit-chat and discussion about the homework assigned to us the earlier day.

The Daily Activities at School

We would reach the school at around 7:30 am, approximately fifteen minutes prior to the school bell. We had to be in our respective classes before the bell rang. Then it was time for national song and school prayer that went on until eight which was a time for regular school periods to begin. This continued for four periods continuously until the recess bell rang at 10:30 am. Recess felt more of a games period then a lunch break. Everyone would be seen doing different activities during this time. The kind of activities one indulged in depended on the class he was in.

When we were in the primary classes we played different games in the school garden. Basketball, football, running and hide and seek were some of our favourite games. As we reached the secondary classes, we began to sit in the canteen to chit chat about the various things and enjoy delicious food. After the recess, we had to attend four more periods. Not every period was that boring though, art and craft, PT, value education and mathematics periods were interesting for me.

Apart from this formal schedule at school, those gossips with friends, hanging around at canteen, going to washroom to partially bunk the lecture, that fear of punishment when we’d forgotten to complete the homework, that note which the teacher wrote in the handbook when we’d done some mischief in the class, the ride in nervousness from home to school on the result day, from immature fights to the innocent laughs – everything from the school feels so dear now, maybe because the things were simple back then.

Essay on My High School Experience 600 words

It is said that entering the high school is the first step in the real world in any student’s life. It is the place where one gets experiences for life. So, one is obviously nervous while entering this phase, but over and above that, extremely excited as now they’ll be adults and will be able to take their decisions on their own. And it is well said that with great authority, comes greater responsibility, and with these responsibilities, comes social pressure. All of which we were unaware of from our childhood time because that is when we were allowed to do mistakes thinking that we are kids, but this doesn’t happen in high school as we are considered adults now.

My High School Experience

One cannot live a carefree life in the high school. There is a lot of study pressure. We need to balance between our academics and extra-curricular activities and also prepare for competitive examinations that lie ahead. Even as we have so much to do we don’t want to miss out on the fun we can have with our friends as this is also the time for blooming friendships and a lot of mischief.

The Day I Bunked My School

I had many bittersweet high school experiences. One of these was when I bunked a lecture, with two of my friends, for the first time. Not only did we bunk the lecture, but also we jumped through our school walls to get out of the school premises and watch a newly released movie. We had a class of 70 students, out of which, around 55 students were present that day.

Now coincidentally, 10 more students from my class also bunked the lecture which made the decreased class strength visible. Moreover, the bags of all of the 13 students, including us, were still there in the class, as we were not allowed to leave the class with bags during school hours. So, our teacher did the checking and found out about the students who bunked and so eventually we were suspended from our laboratory sessions for a week.

However, we didn’t stop bunking lectures post this. We became really smart in finding ways to bunk. We tried to strike a balance between being a good student and enjoying high school. During all those bunks, I realized how important it is to have friends to make your life worth living.

The Ups and Downs in My High School

Then, there came our first high school exam and I managed to be on the list of top 10 students of my class. I had always been a good student academically. So this time, even after all the shenanigans that I indulged in, I managed to score good marks. But this was the last time that I got good marks. My grades started degrading after that and this led to a lot of stress and anxiety. I lost interest in studies and indulged in gaming, watching movies or reading novels.

Thankfully, I didn’t do anything bad, but this normal stuff made the situation worse as I could not concentrate on my studies. So, I went through counselling which I never thought I’ll ever require. It was a difficult period for me but eventually I was able to get decent score in my finals. My parents stood as my pillar of strength during this time. They encouraged me to study and motivated me to lead the right path. I cannot thank them enough for their guidance and support.

All of such experiences from my high school gave me lessons to remember for a lifetime. They made me realize how everything wrong could turn right if only you believe so and have support from your loved ones.

At My High School, the Library Is for Everything but Books

The administration has rebranded our library as a communal space for doing almost everything except reading.

my school library short essay

A student looking for a book in a school library.

Take a peek into the library at Burlingame High School, located on the northern edge of Silicon Valley in California, and you’ll find students doing schoolwork on their computers, talking with friends, playing chess, or checking in with their college and career advisor. No one is reading a book.

According to school records, only about 50 books were checked out by students during the 2023 fall semester. In response, the administration has decided to take a different approach, rebranding the library as a student union—a communal space for students to interact and complete school work.

At the beginning of this transition last year, the school moved the College and Career Center into the library. This year, this school is removing any book that has not been checked out for over a decade.

While school officials say the change is meant to cater to student needs and interests, it also feels like a capitulation to the basic fact that many in my generation simply don’t read much anymore—at least not books. A recent survey found that nearly 50 percent of American adults read zero books in 2023. Another by Gallup in 2022 found a similar decline in reading among young adults though not as severe as older age groups.

“I don’t really read any books outside of what’s assigned in my English class because I feel like many high schoolers don’t have that extra free time to read for enjoyment,” said junior Dora Yang.

According to Burlingame High School librarian Rebecca Velasco, she’s only seen around 10 students check out books since January 2024. “The numbers are pretty low. We have gone through our books and gotten rid of the books that kids just weren’t checking out, or are severely outdated. I could probably count on both hands, kids that came in to check out books just for reading on their own time,” Velasco said.

All of this is happening as, across the country, states are fighting over what books students should or shouldn’t read. According to PEN America, there were 1,477 instances of individual books being banned during the 2022–23 school year, affecting 874 unique titles. Bans were most prevalent in Texas, Florida, Missouri, Utah, and South Carolina.

With growing technology use and addiction, most teenagers I know prefer digital textbooks over physical ones. Many use SparkNotes or LitCharts—which offer short summaries—rather than reading an assigned text. We spend our spare time surfing social media instead of diving into a novel. Revamping the library and stripping it of books will simply reinforce this trend.

“I think with Google being so prominent now, kids don’t come into the library to do research anymore because your research is essentially at your fingertips,” Velasco said. “I still think it is crucial and super important to get kids in here, even if it’s just checking out novels and books on their own. The benefit of a physical book is huge and we need to keep that going.”

According to a study conducted by The Age , while most students had access to school libraries and were frequently given time to use them, almost half were not regular weekly borrowers. Around 17 percent borrowed once or twice a month, 13 percent a few times a year, and another 13 percent never or almost never borrowed books at all.

The Nation Weekly

“Digital technologies offer unprecedented opportunities to enhance information access and collaborative learning experiences within libraries. However, the integration of digital resources should complement rather than replace traditional print collections. Print books offer unique sensory and cognitive benefits that digital texts may not fully replicate, such as tactile engagement and spatial memory,” said Burlingame Public Library Librarian Alexa Pantazes. “It’s honestly a shame that more and more public libraries are closing.”

Between 2010 and 2020, the US Department of Education found that more than 10 percent of public libraries in the United States closed their doors permanently or reduced their operating hours significantly. Many closures were attributed to budget cuts at the local, state, or federal levels. During the economic downturns in the late 2000s and early 2020s, funding for libraries often faced reductions as municipalities prioritized other essential services.

Dave Zirin and Jules Boykoff

“The closure of libraries represents not only a loss of physical spaces but also a loss of opportunities for learning, community engagement, and cultural enrichment,” Pantazes said. “We need to reaffirm our commitment to maintaining vibrant, accessible, and inclusive libraries that continue to serve as pillars of knowledge, community, and democracy.”

For Yang, non-English books can also promote reading interest, especially if a student is learning another language. At Burlingame, however, that bookshelf is not very comprehensive.

“In regards to novels and books that kids would check out for their own reading abilities in other languages, it’s just very, very low. It’s not very inclusive,” Velasco said.

An alternative approach can be seen at Palo Alto High School, where officials have created more avenues that promote the use of library resources—including its books. These include tutoring programs or programs to promote reading. Adding resources like student ambassadors and opportunities for librarians to teach students about research methods and credible sources will allow students to learn real-world skills while also helping them reconnect with books.

Introducing a wider variety of literary options—rather than imposing bans and limiting student choice—might also help students feel more motivated to check out books to read. Restocking the few shelves in the library with books students want to read would draw more students to rekindle their love of reading.

In short, doing away with our library would be an injustice to our students. Let’s at least try to give them a space where they feel confident and excited to read and make use of all a library has to offer. Let’s not give up on reading yet.

As a high school journalist, advocating for the importance of reading feels both like a duty and a personal passion. In a world increasingly dominated by digital content, the value of physical books cannot be overstated. For me, books have been more than just sources of information; they have been companions, mentors, and windows into worlds beyond my own. There’s something intimate and immersive about holding a physical book in your hands, turning its pages, and allowing yourself to be transported into its narrative world. It’s an experience that digital content, no matter how convenient, simply cannot replicate.

The Moscow Free Library and Reading Room opened in March of 1901 in one room of the Brown Building in downtown Moscow. The library was open two afternoons and two evenings a week and was operated by the Pleiades Club and the Moscow Historical Club. In 1903 members of the two clubs formed a committee to secure funding for a library building from the Andrew Carnegie Library Endowment. The Endowment granted the group $10,000. In 1904 Moscow residents approved a special tax to raise money for the building’s operation. A lot was purchased on the corner of Second and Jefferson Streets and Boise architect Watson Vernon was hired to design the library in the Mission Revival style, unique for northern Idaho. The building was completed in 1906 for just under $9,500, making it one of the last Carnegie libraries funded. The first major building improvement was made in 1931 with an addition that doubled the available space. In 1938 the front steps were rebuilt, replacing the curved stairs which had been a feature of the original architecture. In 1964 the basement was remodeled into a children’s library. Construction started in August 1982 to remodel and add to the original Carnegie building. In April 1983 the building was opened to the public, with the Carol Ryrie Brink Reading Room in the historic Carnegie building designated a special place for the children of the community. This addition more than doubled the space again. The Moscow branch serves as headquarters of the Latah County Library District, housing the administrative, adult services, youth services, access services and technical services departments. The Moscow Carnegie Library was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979. More information about the library may be found on the Society of Architectural Historians’ “Archipedia” website.

School Library Essay

“Keep reading. It’s one of the most marvellous adventures that anyone can have.” This famous quote by Lloyd Alexander sums up the importance of reading and how it can transport kids to a different world. And, is there any better way to introduce kids to books other than through the school library? Children always have a fascination for new things, and seeing the school library for the first time with large halls and shelves stocked with piles of books will surely amaze them.

The best way to gain knowledge is by reading books, and libraries are built in schools for the sole purpose of entertaining and educating children. This school library essay in English is for young kids who wish to know more about a library. Once they understand its prominence, they will soon discover the habit of reading and make their own school library essay.

School Library Essay

Experience with My School Library

It was during a free hour that our teacher took us to the school library. Climbing up the stairs, we reached a huge doorway, behind which were the racks of books and a large study hall. The structure of the library interested me, and we were soon given different varieties of picture storybooks by the librarian. He asked us to read the book silently.

There was an unusual silence in the library as everyone was immersed in their books, and later, I became aware that nobody was allowed to talk or make noise in the library as people came here to read books, periodicals or academic papers peacefully. After my first visit, I started going frequently to the library, and I noticed that there were many types of books arranged on separate shelves. It was easy for me to find storybooks in different sections for young kids.

I was also excited to learn that I could carry these books to my home for a certain period and return them after my reading. By noting down my name and class, the librarian lent me 2 books to take home and read. He also asked me to return them within 2 weeks.

I was glad that our teacher took us to the library on that day. I was able to cultivate a new habit of reading because of my school library. Since then, I have visited the school library daily to read and get general information.

Moral of the Essay

The school library is an invaluable resource in a student’s life. Even though the libraries have different structures, which might change with time, their primary purpose is to bring together an array of books for all age groups. Utilising the school library wisely is expected of any student, and we can instil the habit of reading in them as they begin their school journey. The above school library essay in English will give children a view of how to write a short essay on the topic.

What is the role of a school library in a student’s life?

A school library is the first place where a student gets to see a huge collection of books. Due to their curiosity to know what each book talks about, they slowly start the habit of reading. Along with entertaining them, these books contain lots of useful information, and by reading them, kids develop their knowledge.

How to utilise the facility of a school library?

School libraries can be used by students and teachers whenever they have free time. The whole class can visit the library at least once every week. To utilise the opportunity well, teachers and students can plan small activities like forming a reading club or conducting essay writing or story writing competitions so that students will refer to books in the library.

What type of books do we get in a library?

A library has a huge resource of knowledge, and you can get any kind of books like literary, academic, fiction, non-fiction, encyclopaedia, history, politics, children’s books, etc.

Chaos and Confusion: Tech Outage Causes Disruptions Worldwide

Airlines, hospitals and people’s computers were affected after CrowdStrike, a cybersecurity company, sent out a flawed software update.

Airlines grounded flights. Operators of 911 lines could not respond to emergencies. Hospitals canceled surgeries. Retailers closed for the day. And the actions all traced back to a batch of bad computer code.

A flawed software update sent out by a little-known cybersecurity company caused chaos and disruption around the world on Friday. The company, CrowdStrike , based in Austin, Texas, makes software used by multinational corporations, government agencies and scores of other organizations to protect against hackers and online intruders.

But when CrowdStrike sent its update on Thursday to its customers that run Microsoft Windows software, computers began to crash.

The fallout, which was immediate and inescapable, highlighted the brittleness of global technology infrastructure. The world has become reliant on Microsoft and a handful of cybersecurity firms like CrowdStrike. So when a single flawed piece of software is released over the internet, it can almost instantly damage countless companies and organizations that depend on the technology as part of everyday business.

“This is a very, very uncomfortable illustration of the fragility of the world’s core internet infrastructure,” said Ciaran Martin, the former chief executive of Britain’s National Cyber Security Center and a professor at the Blavatnik School of Government at Oxford University.

A cyberattack did not cause the widespread outage, but the effects on Friday showed how devastating the damage can be when a main artery of the global technology system is disrupted. It raised broader questions about CrowdStrike’s testing processes and what repercussions such software firms should face when flaws in their code cause major disruptions.
