Sample Answer 1

I am a travelling buff. I feel alive when on the road than spending my days and nights in the same city. Although I have plenty of to-visit places on my checklist, I would like to visit Rishikesh if I have to choose only one.

Situated in the state of Uttarakhand, Rishikesh is a city in the Himalayan foothills beside the Ganges river. The town is renowned as the yoga capital of the World. There are temples and ashrams on the eastern bank of the city.

The town features plenty of mesmerising places capable of holding your attention. Right from indulging in adventurous activities, such as river rafting and bungee jumping, we can relish our breakfast at the riverside cafes that offer sights to behold. And then, we can roam around several shops lined along the Laxman Jhula. We can also visit the Ghat to submerge into the stunning tranquillity of Ganga Aarti in the evening.

Considering I live in a nearby state, I have always been familiar with Rishikesh. However, my interest in this city grew manifold when I found out that my favourite English rock band – Beatles- visited this place in the 60s. The band sought spirituality and spent their time at the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi Ashram. Not just that, even Steve Jobs and Mark Zuckerberg have spent time in the ashrams of Rishikesh, seeking their purpose in life.

One of the primary reasons to visit Rishikesh is to take a getaway from the hustle-bustle of my daily life. I wish to spend some days connecting with my inner soul through spirituality and gain peace of mind.

  • Soothing: Pleasant Eg: The weather is very soothing.
  • Journal: Diary Eg: She gifted me a journal on New Years.
  • Iconic: Specialty Eg: Dancing Bhangra on weddings is his iconic move.
  • Abbey:  a type of monastery used by members of a religious order under t he governance of an abbot or abbess Eg: She decided to visit the abbey after she finished her work.

Travelling has always been my passion since I was a kid. I used to visit at least one place in my summer vacation for as long as I can remember. It was like a tradition. I kept a journal. Although I don’t write regularly, I keep a note of everything I feel good about or find attractive. There is a special section in my journal where I write down about the places I want to visit in the near future. A place I especially want to visit once in my lifetime is London.

The city has a very soothing weather. However, what drew my attention was the beautiful greenery of the city. The capital city of England has a lot of things to show us, from the Iconic Ferris wheel, popularly known as the London Eye, Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace, St. Paul’s Cathedral, and many other places.

Most of the classics are filmed in London, and needless to say, it is pretty. The set of Little Women, The Pride and Prejudice, and even modern movies like Enola Holmes and Bridgerton have beautiful backgrounds and beauty. The lush green trees of Groton are gorgeous. The rocky valley of Derbyshire is so pretty and calm. So many poets like Wordsworth have beautifully described the city of London in their Sonnets. His poem “Upon Westminster Bridge” is one of my very favourite poems.

It is for all these reasons that I want to visit the place. I have heard and read about it. To some extent, I’ve virtually witnessed it, too, but there is a vast difference between feeling it by your own skin. I want to feel the London rain. I want to smell the sweet smell of the green grass in the countryside and feel the beautiful busy life of the city.

Sample Answer 3

Since childhood, I have loved exploring new places, especially near the ocean, sea, or river. So, some places from all over the world found their place on my travel bucket list. One such place that I would like to visit when I get the right opportunity and travel partner is the Santorini island in Greece.

Being a volcanic island surrounded by the southern Aegean Sea, Santorini or Thira is famous for dramatic views, stunning sunsets from Oia town, blue-green water around Fira, the Venetian Castle in Akrotiri and the incredible views from the tower La Ponta. Apart from that, there are naturally fantastic beaches such as the beach of Perissa and the black pebble beach of Kamari. Besides the above iconic tourist places, the active volcano on the island has its own share of sightseers.

In school, I used to spend most of my free periods in the library. So, one day, while I was going through a travel magazine, I found a breathtaking place with cubic white house-like structures and blue-green sea all around. At first glance, I was mesmerized by the heavenly images on the pages of the book. That was my first encounter with Santorini and since then, I have been in love with those images.

Other than being a travel buff, I also love the history of Greece. There are many myths about this island, which is one of the five Cycladic islands. For example, many believe that Santorini was the original home of the lost city of Atlantis, which disappeared into the depths of the ocean. I would also like to enjoy the boat excursions, popular cruises and vineyard touring. Moreover, the candy-coloured houses along the cliffs, the clear blue water, the peaceful beaches, and the kaleidoscopic sunsets urge me to visit this remarkable island.

Travel Smarter! Sign up for our free newsletter.

Editor’s Note: We know that many of you are looking for help writing travel experience essays for school or simply writing about a trip for your friends or family. To inspire you and help you write your next trip essay—whether it’s an essay about a trip with family or simply a way to remember your best trip ever (so far)—we enlisted the help of Professor Kathleen Boardman, whose decades of teaching have helped many college students learn the fine art of autobiography and life writing. Here’s advice on how to turn a simple “my best trip” essay into a story that will inspire others to explore the world.

Welcome home! Now that you’re back from your trip, you’d like to share it with others in a travel essay. You’re a good writer and a good editor of your work, but you’ve never tried travel writing before. As your potential reader, I have some advice and some requests for you as you write your travel experience essay.

Trip Essays: What to Avoid

Please don’t tell me everything about your trip. I don’t want to know your travel schedule or the names of all the castles or restaurants you visited. I don’t care about the plane trip that got you there (unless, of course, that trip is the story).

I have a friend who, when I return from a trip, never asks me, “How was your trip?” She knows that I would give her a long, rambling answer: “… and then … and then … and then.” So instead, she says, “Tell me about one thing that really stood out for you.” That’s what I’d like you to do in this travel essay you’re writing.

The Power of Compelling Scenes

One or two “snapshots” are enough—but make them great. Many good writers jump right into the middle of their account with a vivid written “snapshot” of an important scene. Then, having aroused their readers’ interest or curiosity, they fill in the story or background. I think this technique works great for travel writing; at least, I would rather enjoy a vivid snapshot than read through a day-to-day summary of somebody’s travel journal.

Write About a Trip Using Vivid Descriptions

Take your time. Tell a story. So what if you saw things that were “incredible,” did things that were “amazing,” observed actions that you thought “weird”? These words don’t mean anything to me unless you show me, in a story or a vivid description, the experience that made you want to use those adjectives.

I’d like to see the place, the people, or the journey through your eyes, not someone else’s. Please don’t rewrite someone else’s account of visiting the place. Please don’t try to imitate a travel guide or travelogue or someone’s blog or Facebook entry. You are not writing a real travel essay unless you are describing, as clearly and honestly as possible, yourself in the place you visited. What did you see, hear, taste, say? Don’t worry if your “take” on your experience doesn’t match what everyone else says about it. (I’ve already read what THEY have to say.)

The Importance of Self-Editing Your Trip Essay

Don’t give me your first draft to read. Instead, set it aside and then reread it. Reread it again. Where might I need more explanation? What parts of your account are likely to confuse me? (After all, I wasn’t there.) Where might you be wasting my time by repeating or rambling on about something you’ve already told me?

Make me feel, make me laugh, help me learn something. But don’t overdo it: Please don’t preach to me about broadening my horizons or understanding other cultures. Instead, let me in on your feelings, your change of heart and mind, even your fear and uncertainty, as you confronted something you’d never experienced before. If you can, surprise me with something I didn’t know or couldn’t have suspected.

You Can Do It: Turning Your Trip into a Great Travel Experience Essay

I hope you will take yourself seriously as a traveler and as a writer. Through what—and how—you write about just a small portion of your travel experience, show me that you are an interesting, thoughtful, observant person. I will come back to you, begging for more of your travel essays.

Three Places I Would Like To Visit Essay Example

What if I asked you to name 3 places you would like to visit? Hello, I am Rayyan and these are 3 places I would like to visit. In these couple paragraphs, I will talk about why I desire to go to these places, the tourist attractions, and much more. Beginning with London, we will then transition to Iceland and New York. I hope you take pleasure in reading!

We all agree that London is a beautiful place, but every person's reason to visit would be very different. Personally, I’d love to visit London because some of my favourite content creators live there. I would actually like to live there when I’m older. Some places I would like to explore in London are the Big Ben, the Shard, and Buckingham palace in person. I know for sure that I would definitely take a trip to the top of the Shard, I love heights!

Did you know Iceland is the safest country in the entire world, it is extremely beautiful! The views are absolutely breathtaking- It is as if you took something straight from a painting. Iceland has some of the most gorgeous places you've ever seen. Including the Blue Lagoon, Northern Lights, Skaftafell Ice Cave, and much more. If I ever went, I would definitely try horseback riding. I’d also love to do some whale watching; I've heard that it is an absolutely amazing sight!

Lastly, the definitely not infamous… New York!! New York is practically the opposite of Iceland, and the reason I desire going is also contradicting my reasons to go to Iceland. I would like to visit the city and go to see all the tourist attractions. Some of them include Times Square, Statue of Liberty, Rockefeller Center, and Central Park.

In closing, out of thousands of cities, 195 countries, and 7 continents, these are the 3 places I would like to visit. I hope you enjoyed.

How to Write a Descriptive Essay about a Place

places you like to visit (short essay)

If you’re not sure what exactly a descriptive essay is and how to write one, you’ve come to the right place. I’m Tutor Phil, and in this tutorial I’ll explain how a descriptive essay works and how to write it, step by step.

We’ll write one together, so you’ll have a great example of a descriptive essay.

What Is a Descriptive Essay?

A descriptive essay is a piece of writing in which the author describes a place, a person, an object, an animal, or a process. The purpose of a descriptive essay is to move the reader to some kind of a revelation, conclusion, or decision about the subject.

It is very important to note that a descriptive essay is not an argumentative essay. You’re not presenting an argument and doing whatever it takes to support it.

In a descriptive essay, your intention should be to describe the subject in such a way that the reader would create her own impression of it.

At the same time, your essay is not neutral because it is colored by your own perception or experience of the subject.

In other words, you are implying and suggesting, not blatantly pushing an opinion.

You want to let the reader see, hear, touch, smell, and taste the place you’re describing. And that experience should lead the reader to an appropriate impression or conclusion.

Writing a Descriptive Essay Is a 6-Step Process

Step 1. choose the subject.

Maybe your instructor has already chosen the subject for you. If not, choose a country, city, or a place within a city or a geographical location that you are familiar with.

Ideally, it is a place that you have been to and have a good memory of it. A descriptive essay about a place should not rely solely on research, in most cases.

The real value of your essay is that you know that place, and perhaps it has a special meaning for you or evokes feelings that no other place can evoke.

So, unless you have to write about a specific place where you have never been, choose a location that has a special place in your heart.

Sometimes, your subject can be a place with which you may have negative associations. But most likely, it is a beloved place that has left an indelible impression on your heart and mind.

Criteria for choosing the place

  • Ideally, this place should be dear to your heart
  • It is unique. It is unlike any other place you’ve ever been to, in at least one or two important ways
  • It has left a strong impression on you
  • Perhaps you learned something there
  • Perhaps something wonderful happened to you there, such as meeting your soulmate or discovering something about yourself
  • Ideally, it has special visual qualities that stand out in contrast to what your audience is probably used to. In other words, being visually striking is a huge plus.

I’ll give you an example. For me, one particular little spa town in Europe won me over when I first visited it many years ago. Its name is Carlsbad, or Karlovy Vary. The terms are interchangeable. One is of German origin, and the other is native Czech.

It is located in the western part of Czech Republic, not too far from the German border. It is serene, spectacular, and magical, and I’ll choose it as the subject for our sample descriptive essay.

By the way, Carlsbad, California was named after Karlovy Vary because of the similar mineral content of the underground waters found in the American cousin city.

Step 2. Pick an audience

I understand that you’re probably writing this essay to fulfill a requirement for your class. In which case, your audience is your teacher or professor.

But even if you’re writing for your instructor, you should still have a particular audience in mind because this will help you form ideas and keep your thoughts flowing.

Knowing your audience will inform your choices of what to include and what to exclude in your descriptive essay because your reader may care about some aspects of this place but not others.

Criteria for choosing an audience

  • Your ideal reader is someone who is most likely to be interested in this place
  • It is someone who is likely to enjoy reading your essay
  • Your ideal audience is also someone who will benefit from reading about this place and derive the most value from it

Let’s come back to our example of Karlovy Vary. As I already mentioned, it is a spa town, which means that its attractiveness lies in its therapeutic qualities.

I first visited this gem of a town back in 2004 as a result of a real academic and professional burnout. I believe I was still an undergraduate student finishing up my studies, and I also had a stressful job.

I lived in Brooklyn, which is a borough of New York City, and this metropolis is known for its stressful lifestyle.

New York has all the disadvantages of living in a large city, such as pollution and other stressors that can really suck the life energy out of its dwellers if they are not careful.

I lived in New York for 25 years, and I love this city. I don’t want to come across as totally negative about it.

But focusing on the negatives about my city in this case will help you see how I am choosing the audience for this essay we’ll be writing together in this tutorial.

You see, New York City is a direct opposite of Karlovy Vary in several critical ways.

Establishing a contrast helps define an audience

New York is noisy. Drivers here are notorious for incessant horn honking. And you can hear an ambulance or a police siren probably every 15 minutes or so.

Conversely, Karlovy Vary is super quiet. Such a crazy hustle and bustle doesn’t exist here, and drivers don’t have a reason to honk the horn all the time. It is also very rare to hear a police or an ambulance siren.

Air quality in New York is decent for a big city, but it is still relatively polluted . All the millions of cars and trucks produce way too much carbon dioxide. You can actually see the smog from some vantage points.

The air in Karlovy Vary is virtually pristine. The town is surrounded by hills, and car traffic is not allowed in the city center.

The landscape in New York is a bit monotonous and often fails to inspire. They don’t call this city “a concrete jungle” for nothing. The overall atmosphere is hardly conducive to a great mood or daily inspiration.

Conversely, Karlovy Vary offers aesthetically pleasing, relaxing, and inspiring architecture and landscape. It’s like entering a spa, only the spa is a whole town.

Now that we have this contrast, it is easy to see who might be interested in learning more about Karlovy Vary. Our ideal audience is someone who:

  • Lives in a big metropolis, such as NYC or another big city
  • Can relate to being excessively stressed out
  • Is aware of noise and air pollution
  • Would love an escape to relax and renew, even if only by reading an essay.

So, our essay becomes a sort of a virtual or a fantasy escape until an actual trip becomes possible.

Your audience might have different challenges, needs, and desires. It could be someone who:

  • Is nostalgic about their childhood and a place associated with it
  • Dreams about a perfect place to live and work
  • Plans a retirement location

Think of these factors when determining your audience. In the meantime, because we’ve already identified our ideal reader – a stressed out urban dweller – we can move on to the next step.

Step 3. Divide the subject into subtopics

No matter what kind of an essay you’re writing, you want to divide the main topic into subtopics. In other words, you want to create some kind of a structure that will consist of parts.

I use and teach my students to use the technique I call the Power of Three.

places you like to visit (short essay)

What this means is that instead of having just one big topic, such as one town, we can have three aspects of this town to discuss.

Incidentally, we already talked about three major differences between NYC and Karlovy Vary. These are noise levels, air quality, and landscape. So, perhaps we can use one or more of these aspects of a city as sections of our essay.

We must keep in mind that we’re not writing a comparative essay , although that’s a possibility, too.

We’re writing a descriptive essay. So, we need to find three aspects of the town that we can discuss one after another to put together a rich and detailed enough picture of this place.

Note that these three aspects correspond to the senses of hearing, smell, and sight.

Let’s make a preliminary list of such aspects of Karlovy Vary:

  • Quietness. Does this aspect present an interesting description opportunity? This will depend on our ability to turn it into an asset.
  • Air quality. This may be too specific. We may want to zoom out a little and discuss more than one natural asset of this city. Some of the others include water quality and the industries associated with it.
  • Landscape. This is the most conspicuous aspect of this city. The first thing you’re struck with is how beautiful this place really is. This one is definitely a winner.

If we go about writing about these three aspects of Karlovy Vary creatively, we will have three nice sections or paragraphs that will form the body of our essay.

Note that we’ll probably use more than one sensory perception, such as sight or smell, in each section. We’ll simply use one of three senses as a primary focus in each of our three sections.

It would make sense to begin the discussion of the city by describing it visually. So, this will be our primary focus in the first section.

Then, we can proceed to the sense of hearing. Why? Because our last section will be about air and water. And we should probably leave those for last because we can hear the water before we can taste it. That’s just the way it works in Karlovy Vary.

So, the primary sense perception in our second section will be hearing. And this section won’t be just about how quiet it is.

In fact, the real contrast between a big city and Karlovy Vary is the quality of the soundscape, not just the simple quietness, although it’s a part of it. So, we’ll focus on all the little sounds that make this place unique.

Finally, in the third section or paragraph, we’ll talk about the air and the water, which will correspond to the senses of smell and taste, primarily.

Again, we’ll be using any sense perceptions we feel necessary to make the reader’s experience as real as possible.

And now we have our place, we know our audience, and we have our three main ideas about this place that we’ll use to structure the essay.

We can begin writing, and we’ll start with the opening paragraph.

Step 4. Write the introduction

An introductory paragraph in a descriptive essay offers you a lot of flexibility in how you choose to write it.

You can start off with a particular example of a sense perception, drop your reader in the middle of a town square, or begin with an abstract concept.

I would like to suggest an easy and practical way to do it. In the first sentence or two, pull your reader from the outside world into this particular magical place you’ve chosen to write about.

Then, focus on the place you want to describe and say something general about it that would set the context or provide a perspective.

And finally, set some kind of an expectation for what’s to follow. You can create a sense of mystery, if you like. Remember, this is not an argumentative essay. So, you have more room for creativity.

This is where we begin to put together our descriptive essay example. Let’s write our introductory paragraph.

Descriptive Essay Introduction

“When the city has worn you down, the body is tired, and the soul yearns for a respite, you can count on a little magic gem of a town that will nourish you back to life. The name of the place is Karlovy Vary, and it is nested in the heart of Europe, in Western Bohemia, a region in Czech Republic famous for its spa towns. Its beautiful architecture, therapeutic landscape, clean air, and mineral waters offer the weary a healing adventure and a feast for the senses.”

What have we done in this paragraph?

We’ve pulled the reader into the world of this small spa town. We first descended in their world of the stressful city, and then we turned their attention to its opposite. We named the town and explained where it is located.

And finally, we provided a glimpse of what to expect in this descriptive essay about this town. Now, we’re ready to write the body of the essay.

Step 5. Write the body of the essay

We know our three main sections, which in this case correspond to three sense perceptions. Each section can have more than one paragraph. It all depends on how long your essay has to be.

If you are writing an essay of about 500-600 words, then a five-paragraph structure will do the job. If you need to write 2000 words or more, then you’ll have three sections instead of just three paragraphs.

And then each section can also be divided into two or three subsections (using the Power of Three, if you like). And each subsection can be a paragraph or more.

Just remember – the more words you need, the more dividing into subtopics you must do. The key to writing more is dividing one idea into several supporting ideas. And then you simply treat each supporting idea as a tiny essay.

If you struggle with essay writing in general or need to brush it up, I recommend you read my tutorial on essay writing for beginners . This would be a great place to turn to next.

Now, let’s write out our body paragraphs. Since there’s quite a bit to cover, we’ll probably take two paragraphs per section to get the job done.

Descriptive essay body paragraphs

“When you stay in one of the pretty little hotels in Karlovy Vary, you are likely to be descending the hills towards the hot springs every morning. No matter which part of town you live in, you’ll be greeted with a magnificent sight of little hotels and spas whose architecture has a unifying 19th century style. At the same time, each building has its own character, color, and features. The town is situated on several hills, and the hotels are lined up along about four levels.

The first level is down by the river Tepla, and these hotels are only a few because most of the downtown is occupied with hot springs colonnades where people gather and drink hot mineral water. The next three levels ascend from the springs, and you can either take the stairs or even use a funicular that will take you to the highest level to the Hotel Imperial. As you exit your hotel in the morning, you are greeted with a sight of a collection of small, three to four story buildings that look like birthday cakes. They are pink, green, blue, red, turquoise, and any color you can imagine. You suddenly realize how this variety of colors and shapes strewn over the hillsides all facing you and the city center makes your head spin and makes you feel like you’ve never felt before. Your healing has begun with landscape therapy.

As you descend the stairs to reach the hot springs, you notice the abundance of oxygen in the air because it has a subtle but distinct smell, a bit like the way air smells right before a rain. Then, as you pass by another hotel, and you’ll pass more than one, a light whiff of toast and fried eggs with bacon hits you, stirring your appetite. It is customary to drink a cup of hot mineral water before you come back to your hotel for breakfast. It is called a drinking cure.

As you keep walking towards the geyser and the springs that surround it, you notice another astonishing detail. Nobody is in a rush. Nobody has anywhere to be except right here, right now. Travelers with cute little porcelain cups stroll along without a worry in the world, taking in the sights, the smells, and the sounds of the birds chirping and singing all around. Their serenity infects you. You slow down, too. You begin to look, smell, and listen. This town has got you.

Karlovy Vary is famous for its healing mineral waters that are known to alleviate gastrointestinal issues. These waters really do have magic powers. You have your little sipping cup with you, and when you reach one of the springs, you wait for your turn to fill it up, walk off, and begin sipping. The water has a very subtle smell, but its taste is pretty strong for water. It has very high mineral content and tastes salty. Most people like the taste. Some find it too strong. But one thing is for sure – by the time you’re about half way through with your cup’s content, your digestive juices have begun to stir.

The hot springs flow out through several fountains, each with its own intricately detailed colonnade. The mineral content of water bursting out of each fountain is identical. But the temperature of the water varies from really hot to mild and comfortable. Your “spa doctor” actually prescribes which fountains to use and how much to drink. Sipping the water out of a special porcelain cup with a built-in straw-like system is a special pleasure of its own. The point is not to rush but to take about 20 minutes to empty the cup. In the meantime, you have a chance to take in the magnificent serenity that surrounds and infuses you. When you’ve drunk your water, it is time to head back to your hotel and eat breakfast. You repeat this routine three times a day for the duration of your stay. By day three, you are serenity itself. By day fourteen, you are a brand new person.”

Step 6. Write the conclusion

A conclusion in a descriptive essay is, like the introduction, more flexible than a conclusion in an argumentative essay.

You can conclude your essay in any way you really want as long as you observe one rule. Just make sure you zoom out and write in more general terms.

It is not the time to add specific details and examples. This is the time to wrap things up and end on a general note.

Your conclusion can be very short – only a couple of sentences. But you can take your space and write as much or as little as you feel like. You can always go back and trim it down or beef it up.

Let’s write our conclusion.

Our Conclusion

“Upon reading this, you may feel that this town is described as some sort of a paradise. And in a way, it is, especially if you are traveling from a big city and carrying a load of accumulated stress. But it’s not until you see, touch, smell, hear, and taste it for yourself that this European jewel will become a part of your entire being forever.”

It’s okay to be a little emotional and perhaps to even exaggerate a little in the concluding paragraph. Just notice that this one is more general than any of the body paragraphs.

It also touches upon or mentions every sense perception evoked in the body of the essay.

Your Key Takeaways

  • A descriptive essay is much more flexible and has a lot fewer rules than an argumentative essay.
  • Use the five sense perceptions – sight, smell, touch, taste, and hearing – to structure your essay.
  • You don’t have to organize your essay by sense perceptions. You can divide your place into sections and walk the reader through each one.
  • You can even structure your essay as a string of paragraphs that describe one particular walk or route, from beginning to end.
  • Our last body paragraph is a description of the process of drinking hot mineral water in Karlovy Vary. It is a perfect example of a description of a process, if you ever want to write that kind of an essay.
  • Don’t persuade but subtly suggest.
  • Show, don’t tell, whenever you can.

Describe a place that you would like to visit

# describe a place (not in your country) that you would like to visit.

  • How and when you would go there
  • How you know about this place
  • What the scenery is like in this place
  • Who you would go with
  • and explain why you want to visit it

In the coming month, I’d like to pay a visit to London with my family, and tour along the River Thames where there are lots to see, the famous Buckingham Palace and Big Ben, for example.

Ever since I fell in love with English, I was hopeful to see the country where the language originates and the city where live the royalty. The historical buildings and the unique view there will definitely impress us.

During the one-week journey, though we could not go into the Buckingham Palace for a visit, for it’s said it’s open to the public from July to September, we will surely make it watch the wonderful Ceremony of Changing Guard. Then we will visit Westminster Hall to appreciate St. Stephen’s Porch and grand hall, and we expect to have a chance to go up to the Campanile Bell, to have a look of the whole city.

At night, we prefer to take the well-known London Eye and enjoy the special view over the River Thames. Of course, we will tour around the landmark of England, the Big Ben, which I got to know, at first, from the article in New Concept English, which said it’s renowned the world over for its accuracy, which is always to be within one second, and it’s connected to the microphones of BBC.

We will wait for its striking, which is said can be heard for miles around. It’s a pity that foreign tourists can no longer be allowed to enter the clock building, but I have searched the internet and enjoy the online tour of it. I am looking forward to going to appreciate the clock in person in the future. I could not wait for the trip to London.

Question: When people go travelling (as tourists), what do they spend money on? Tourists will spend a lot of things like fare, accommodation. Of course, they have to pay the fee of visiting or taking part in the place or facilities that are not free. They also have to pay the food while travelling, and more often, people prefer to buy a souvenir, special stuff and product, which may take up a big part of their whole expense.

Question: When people move to another country (migrate to another country), what changes do you think take place in their lives, compared to their lives before they left home? There will be many changes. First of all, people have to overcome the barrier of language, the obvious challenge to people when they move to another country. Starting life in a new country, people will definitely change their former lifestyle. Then in a new neighbourhood, people will feel uncomfortable living in a new culture which may be totally different from their former one. Not to say that some people may not get used to the food and weather in the new place.

Question: What do you think about children growing up abroad? Do you think children are affected by growing up abroad? How? I think it’s beneficial for children growing up abroad. One will definitely be influenced by their living surrounding, and take up the value and culture of the local. At the same time, he will compare the culture with that of his own country, which he learns from his family. During the process, he will keep the best part of both cultures. What’s more, they will acquire at least two languages without much difficulty, for they are in use of the languages in daily life, which may be a great help in their work in the future.

Question: What are the benefits of travelling to new places? Travelling to new places, people can appreciate the unique lifestyle and buildings, enjoying the local landscape and food. Being tired of their daily life, people long for going to some places totally different from their own one, which enables people to forget their worries. Besides, visiting new places broadens people’s horizon, helping people develop an optimistic view on life.

Question: Which places (countries) are Indian people most interested in visiting? In general, Indian people like to visit places with an amazing and unique landscape. For example, loads of people prefer to visit Mount Fuji in Japan and the Maldives as well. Also, people would like to pay a visit to western countries, those developing countries, like England and France, whose culture and life are totally different from those in India, which is a great attraction.

Question: Why do many people (i.e. city people) prefer to travel to places of natural beauty rather than travel to another city? Because people are tired of city life and prefer to get relaxed in nature. Traveling to places of natural beauty enables people to get close to nature and get themselves refreshed, for human will never be dependent on Mother Nature, from whom a human can always get comfort. Besides, cities are getting less interesting. The traditional constructions are disappearing and being replaced by the standard high-rise concrete buildings, making cities appear to be alike.

Question: What is the landscape like in India? India is a large country, enjoying about 3.2 million square kilometers. Therefore, the vast area enables India to enjoy various landscapes. In general, in southern India, there is more rainfall, with views relating to water, such as rivers, lakes, and seas. In northern India, however, the area tends to be much colder. and high mountains When covered with snow, it’s one of the most beautiful scenery.

Question: Why do people (humans) like to explore new places? Well, it’s human’s nature to be curious about new things, so there’s no doubt people like to explore new places. However, not all people have the ability and time to do that. Only a small number of people are capable and persist in doing that. Most people, however, would like to visit places having been discovered by others.

Question: If somebody got lost while exploring or traveling in a remote part of the world, or if they needed some other type of help, who should pay for this help? In current India, a growing number of people prefer to go hiking or excursion to remote mountains by themselves. Some believe it’s the best way to totally enjoy the beauty of nature. At the same time, they can practice their living ability in nature. However, many inexperienced ones lost their lives in the challenge. In searching for them, the government of the local pay for the rescue expense, which I think should be borne by people themselves. Besides, a policy should be made to inform people of that. In this way, people will think twice before they take action, for they are responsible for their reasonless action.

A Place I Would Like to Visit Essay

We all have a place that we would like to visit at least once in our lifetimes. For me that place is Italy. There are many reasons why Italy remains to be my number one travelling destination. With a culture spanning more than 2500 years, it is among the few ancient civilizations that have stood the test of time and are still in existence today. As a result, Italy is the home to prehistoric sites and ancient monuments.

It is also the world capital of fashion and is the home to gorgeous beaches and ethereal land formations that are sure to blow everyone’s minds away. The language is also very beautiful-I mean the word romantic must have had its origins from the Italians, because of their seductive nature. And the Italian cuisine is without a doubt the best on earth. To be honest, there are so many wonderful places in Italy that I’m uncertain which places to visit first. According to the general consensus however, these are the places to visit on the first trip.

Once the capital of the Roman Empire, Rome is so rich in cultural artefacts and monuments making it one of the most popular tourist’s destinations. It is estimated that there are so many artifacts in this ancient city that it may take months to exhaust all of them. One particular monument that I would like to see is the Colosseum. Inaugurated in the year AD 80, this ancient structure is the first of its kind and was used for festivals, games, circuses and theatrical performances.

Modern sports arenas have borrowed heavily from its design. I would also like to visit the Vatican. Though it is located in Rome, Vatican is actually an independent state ruled by the Pope. With an area not more than half a square kilometer in size, it houses the Vatican palace, St. Peter’s Basilica, St. Peter’s Square and the Vatican gardens within its walls. Being the capital of the Roman Catholic Church, the Vatican is one of the most visited places on earth.

There is also the Pantheon, a monument preserved for more than 2000 years. This building shows the level of mastery in architecture by the ancient romans. I also look forward to walking through the Roman Forum. Though most of it lays in ruins, the Forum was like Manhattan in the Big Apple. It was the center of the Roman civilization. It was a focal point for religious meetings, political affairs, court proceedings and commercial activities.

Another great place to visit is the Fontana di Trevi or the Trevi Fountain. It is believed that throwing coins in to this fountain guarantees your return to this beautiful city. Other places that I will definitely visit include San Giovanni in Laterano, Centro Storico, Santa Maria Maggiore, San Callisto’s Catacombs and Piazza Navona.

This Italian city has remained unchanged since the 15 th  century when it was the center and pioneer of the renaissance movement in Europe. Still dominating its skyline is the dome of the Santa Maria del Fiore, which was built in the 15 th  century. Florence is therefore filled with so much art and architecture stretching back several hundred years ago. Some of the places I look forward to visiting include, Galleria degli Uffizi.

Galleries of Uffizi are from the Renaissance period and include works by some of the greatest painters to ever walk on this earth, such as Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo. One of the best tourist destinations in Florence is the Bargello Museum, which is the home to some of the best sculptures in whole of Italy. They include works from Donatello, Michelangelo, Cellini and Giambologna. I would also wish to have a taste of the delicious Panino con Lampredotto, which is a strictly Florentine dish.

One of my favorite novels is actually set in this ancient city- the Merchant of Venice by William Shakespeare. Venice is like a city frozen in time with an exquisite beauty to enchant anyone who visits there. One of the best activities in this beautiful city is taking a Gondola ride and enjoying the serene environment along the Grand Canal.

Another place I would like to visit in this magnificent city is the Teatro La Fenice (Theatre of Phoenix), which is popular for its Italian opera music. Then, I would take a stroll through Venice’s largest square, the Piazza San Marco (St. Mark’s Square). It is the home of historical sites, such as Doge’s Palace, St. Mark’s Basilica and St. Mark’s Campanile. I heard that it is the best place to get souvenirs to take home, such as carnival masks and gondola hats.

Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale) is also a place that I would like to tour. It is famous for its role as the doge’s (leader) residence and the palace of justice. It has a network of secret passages, which makes it an intriguing place to see. Connecting the Doge’s Palace to the dungeons is Ponte dei Sospiri or the Bridge of Sighs.

It was named so because prisoners would sigh, as they were moved from the courtroom to the dungeons for good. One such prisoner is the greatest seducer, Giacomo Casanova. He was imprisoned in “The Leads”, one of the prisons in the Doge’s Palace for five years. He however managed to escape from the prison, which was thought to be inescapable during that time. It would be exciting therefore to see the cell that Casanova was held in and get a glimpse of how he managed to escape.

This is the fashion capital of Italy, without a doubt and arguably the world’s. I want to walk through this ancient gem secretly hidden by modern apparels. My first stop would be the Navigli District, which is famous for its interconnected canals designed by none other than Leonardo da Vinci. I would definitely enjoy some meal and a glass of wine in one of the many cafes and restaurants lined up along the canals. I would also like to see Leonardo da Vinci’s The Last Supper mural located at the Santa Maria delle Grazie.

The first of its kind, this mural has been reproduced so many times, but none comes close to the original mural. Another stop that I will definitely make is Teatro alla Scala. It is one of the best opera houses in the world and was founded by Archduchess Maria Theresa in the late 18 th  century. Apart from the great opera music, it is particularly famous for its gold and crimson interior finishing and décor.

The trip would not be worth it however, if I spent all my time in Milan, without getting a gist of the fashion lifestyle that has made this city a global icon in the apparel world. As a fashion lover, I know the place to be is the Grand Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II. The Grand Galleria is like the Silicon Valley of the fashion world with high end luxury brands located here. Italian brands like Dolce e Gabbana, Prada, Armani and Versace have shops here.

International brands like Louis Vuitton, Yves Saint Laurent and Chanel are also located here. It has a unique design in the shape of a cross and the top is covered with glass panels to allow in sunlight. Then there is the Milan Cathedral that is a spectacle. This 600 year old building has so many statues, towers and decorations that give it a beautiful gothic design. It is actually the most popular monument in Milan in terms of tourists rankings.

Amalfy Coast

This picturesque region attracts so many tourists across the world because of its beauty. The towns along the coast are dotted with multi-colored houses on mountain regions with a backdrop of green hue from its rich fauna. Just looking at the photos blows my mind away and I would definitely want to have firsthand experience of the place.

The towns I look forward to visiting in this vast coastline include Sorrento, a fishing town with a magnificent beach; Positano, because of the beautiful pastel colored houses on the mountains overlooking the sea; and lastly, the Island of Capri because of its gorgeous landscapes, beautiful beaches and excellent mountain views. The Amalfy Coast is so beautiful that it is really hard to select which places to go.

Visiting Italy will definitely be a dream come true for me. I hope to enjoy all the unforgettable moments with someone special to make the trip worthwhile. And while there, I just hope we will do what the romans do and do not come out overtly weird by our fascination of the country. I will definitely throw several coins at the Fontana di Trevi to make sure that I go there severally. But for now, Divertiti .

How To Write a Good Travel Essay

  • March 18, 2020

Travelling is one of the most exciting parts of everyone’s life. In the same way, this experience has the potential to be a fascinating topic for your writing assignments.

Writing a travel essay requires minimal creativity because trips are full of extraordinary events by their nature, as well as dramas and cultural findings. So, there’s no need to make things up or think through ideas while you are writing this kind of essay. To make life even easier you can even order essay .

However, as easy as it may sound, turning a travel experience into a piece of writing can be a bit challenging for students. Because if not careful, they will end up writing some dull clichés about a bunch of different places, and nothing more.

If you’ve never read any trips or you don’t have enough time to write a paper, you can quickly get your essay written by making use of available writing services. However, here we present some practical guidelines to help you write an exceptional essay:

Select Your Favorite City

Sometimes a trip is explicitly taken to collect information for an essay. If this is true about you, take your time to choose your destination carefully. Do some research before deciding on the city. Read about various regions and see which ones inspire you the most.

Your task here is to share useful information with people and get them involved in your journey. If you can’t enjoy your own trip, how can you let others have fun while reading the story? So it’s essential to choose a destination that you are interested in.

Choose a Few Attractions

Every city or town usually has several tourist attractions. If you attempt to include every single place you visited on that journey, your writing would be a boring list of city attractions that can be found anywhere, such as a tourist website.

Rather than mentioning multiple sights, focus on two or three places, and provide detailed information about them. Let readers know few, but know well.

Another point is that famous attractions are not proper choices for your writing because almost everyone knows the basic information about these places. Put your focus on unknown sites, remembering that people want to hear about something they have never heard.

Write a Compelling First Paragraph

Your first paragraph is usually the most important one. It’s where you convince the readers you had an incredible trip – one that has something new to teach your audience and is worth reading about.

Start with an unusual tradition you witnessed, an interesting dialogue you had, or a cultural misunderstanding you faced during your journey.

Use your sense of humor. Be as innovative as you can. No matter what you do, the final aim is to engage the readers and make them stick to your story.

Show Rather Than Tell

‘Showing’ is what makes a difference between a boring and outstanding travel essay. When you show something with your words, you actually describe what you experienced in full details. However, when you tell something, it’s like you’re just giving a brief report on what you did.

Readers won’t understand what an incredible park, a fabulous road, or a fantastic building means unless you show it to them. Showing makes the readers feel they’ve been there with you.

Therefore, don’t merely rely on telling where you went. Instead, add specific descriptions about that place, talk about your feelings, and paint an imaginary picture of that space in the minds of readers.

Images serve as a complement to your verbal description as they help readers imagine your story better.

One or two pictures is enough, but try to pick the most breathtaking ones that are more related to your narrative. Also, remember that vivid shots are always a better option than black and white ones because they are more eye-catching and can better intrigue the reader’s curiosity.

Keep It Simple

The primary purpose of writing a traveling essay is to entertain your readers. So, there’s no need to show off by using literary words or highly academic structure. Instead, use an active voice, try to be friendly, and bring readers closer to your story.

In this kind of essay, your writing intelligence depends on your ability to amuse people and your art of describing scenes, not using a lot of fluffy sentences.

Describe What You Achieved

If your traveling experience didn’t teach you anything or couldn’t make a positive change in your life, it would be a significant loss of time and money. Every great experience comes with great achievement. This can be as small as a shift in your beliefs, or as big as making wonderful friends. Whatever the accomplishment is, it’s worth telling your readers about it.

Give Readers a Good Ending

Every fantastic narrative begins with a good starting point, continues with a climax, and ends with a reasonable conclusion. Plan your paragraphs before writing. Think about the ways you want to start your story, go through the rising action, and then slow it down gradually to let readers know they are reaching the end of the story. If you end your writing in the middle of the turning point where the reader is reading the most thrilling part of the story, they might get puzzled and confused. It’s like putting an obstacle in front of a high-speed runner and making him stop all of a sudden.

Bottom Line

Travels are full of new experiences. Sometimes a short trip gives you a handful of stories to tell your future grandchildren. They have a lot to teach us and therefore, a lot to talk about. So why not use them as a subject for your writings? The next time you will be searching the net for online essay writing services with “interesting topics to write my essay,” think about your traveling experiences and bring everything you can remember on the paper. Then, google some “help write my essay tips” to learn the main guidelines for writing a travel essay.

What Place Do You Most Like To Visit? IELTS Speaking (20 Example Answers)

If your examiner asks you about traveling in part one of your IELTS Speaking test, they might ask, “What place do you most like to visit?”

Let’s look at how you can answer this question for a good band-seven score. Below, you can also read 20 great model answers to this question ( go straight to the answers here ).

What To Say About Your Favorite Destination

For this kind of question, quickly think of one place you like to visit.

Note: when we say ‘visit’ in English, we usually mean a traveling destination.   This might be:

  •   A vacation destination
  •   A destination for business
  •   A foreign country
  •   A place in a foreign country
  •   Another city in your country
  •  Somewhere you liked to visit when younger
  •   Any other place that comes to your mind

But this question could also be about visiting a local place in your city or country, such as:

  • The library
  • A shopping mall
  • Your girlfriend’s house
  • Anywhere else you like to visit

Just say the first place that comes to your mind. Then you should add one or two more sentences. You could talk about:

  •   Why you like it
  •   How often you go there
  •  What you do there
  •  How you feel there
  •  Who you go there with
  •   How many times you’ve been there before or recently
  •   What you did there last time you went
  •   Any good memories from that place
  •   If you plan to go there again soon
  •   Anything else you can think of

Possible Reasons You Like That Place

Maybe you like it because:

  •   You have good memories there
  •   You love the weather there
  •   You love the food there
  •   You have family there
  •   You’ve had a lot of fun there
  •   Good shopping
  •  Fascinating  sights to see
  •   History and culture
  •   Nightlife
  •   Beautiful nature (beaches, mountains, forests…)
  •   Interesting activities
  •   Whatever else comes into your mind

Tip: Picture the Place in Your Mind

The easiest way to quickly think of something to say about a place (or an experience) is to picture it in your mind.

Just imagine the place the last time you went there.   Then describe what you’re seeing.

This ‘picturing’ is a very good habit for IELTS because it helps you to focus on ideas and what to talk about, instead of worrying about vocabulary and grammar.

Grammar Tip: Use Past Tense and Present Perfect

It’s always great to use the present perfect and past tense, just to show the examiner that you can.

This question about a ‘place’ allows you to easily think of:

  •   How many times you’ve been there before
  •   When you last went there
  •   What you did there before

Focus on Fluency

You don’t need to worry too much about grammar in part one. Remember that part one is mainly to warm you up .

You can’t really get a high score in part one. So save your clever vocabulary and grammar for part two, when you have more time to plan your answer.

In part one, just try to answer confidently and fluently .   This means speaking without hesitation.

It’s fine to use simple English to help you do this.

Also, don’t say too much. Use the three-step YES Method to answer your part-one questions. Just say:

  •   Y our answer (the place you like to visit)
  •   E xplain your answer (say why you like that place)
  •   S top talking (wait patiently for the next question)

Now, It’s Your Turn!

Don’t worry if the English in some of these answers seems quite advanced.

For a band-seven score, it’s okay if you make a few mistakes and don’t use super-advanced English, especially in part one.

Now give this question a go yourself.

Set up your voice recorder and ask aloud, “What place do you most like to visit?”

Focus on fluency , and use the three-step YES Method.

When you’ve finished, listen to your answer, and write down what you said.

If you notice any mistakes, try again.

Keep repeating this process and you’ll soon be ready for an excellent band-seven score in IELTS Speaking part one.

How it works

A place I love to visit and why

The world is embellished with colorful and mesmerizing places. Being a traveling lover, there are many places that I dream to visit but if I have to choose one, it would be “the global village Dubai”. It is claimed to be the world’s greatest tourist attraction and I love to visit here as it is a whole place itself including outdoor cultural, entertainment and shopping centers.

The global village is located on Sheikh Muhammad Bin Zayed Road in Dubai.

In my view, I think if I ever visit this destination, it would make me see the entire world. It is full of cultures around the world; Indian, Pakistani, Arabic, British, French, Chinese and many more. There are specific cultural shows and performances that deliver the aspects of each particular culture that distinguish them from all others. These performances not only deliver the outlook of dressing, moral values, and language of each culture but also communicates a sense of unity by a bond of humanity.

The place has almost 25 pavilions that represent over 75 cultures all over the world. Two new pavilions have been added recently in 2017 that include cultures of Nepal, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. Some famous cultural shows of 2017 were, beyond Bollywood, Shaolin Monks and the Silk Route. It also perfectly presents the cuisine of each culture. It is said that there are over 23 restaurants and café where tourists and visitors can easily enjoy their meals with Turkish, Arabic, Egyptian, Bosnian and Yemeni cuisines.

The entertainment the global village provides is also fascinating. There are many rides for kids as well as adults. Many people find even it more exciting than Disneyland. There is a special “monster stunt show” that holds the attention of children as well as adults. This show presents stunts, car chases and special effects. It has its own theatre for cultural shows, virtual and 3D films. Global village is also a center of concerts of mostly Bollywood singers. The global village is illuminated with more than 18,000 Led lights that add to the charm of this place. There is a splendid fire-work show twice in a week. These fireworks embellish the sky of Dubai with colors and glitter producing a magical impact on the visitors.

It will not be wrong to refer the visit to this place as a “Mini world tour”. It is also a market in its own. Here, one can find the Yemeni honey, skin-nourishing material from the Dead Sea, antique furniture of Damascus, calligraphic art and copper work, accessories, perfumes and clothing. The infrastructure of the whole place is improving with passing time. It has a huge parking place, with 18,300 spots.

Global village sets the new world record of welcoming more than 6 million visitors. I would love to be one of those visitors. I would prefer to take my family or friends to this auspicious emerging global center of the entire world. The shopping facilities here are extraordinary. From malls to stalls, one can find anything here; from the latest fashion items to old, antique stuff of different civilizations. It’s a global heritage.

These are all the reasons I am awaiting my visit to this marvel of Dubai. Life is short, I want to make each moment count and struggling for making wishes come true is the core of living. That’s why I want to witness this greatest tourist attraction of the world.

In my community, emphasis is placed primarily on education. Everyone wants access to high-quality education, regardless of gender. The neighbourhood helps out with the needs of poor kids. I hold this place- My Town, in high regard.

Everyone has a distinct favourite location. It is in keeping with their preferences and interests. Similarly, my favourite location reflects my interests, and I love being at my favourite place.

500 Words Essay On My Favourite Place

My grandmother's house in my village has often been one of my favourite places to be. Everyone has always held a special place in their hearts for their grandmother's home. We spent numerous summers with our granny when we were younger. Her home appeared to stand out from the rest in some way that made it special.

Enjoyment time

I enjoy playing outside while picking fresh fruits from the trees and eating freshly prepared vegetables. Frequently, I help my grandmother sow seeds in the garden. There are several reasons why I value this place so highly. There is something incredibly unique about the house. I feel at ease and relaxed here.

Why I Love My Grandmother’s House

First of all, the atmosphere at my grandmother’s house is distinctly different. I am at peace here. There is no noise or pollution because it is in a village. Additionally, there are no traffic jams here. I always wake early so that I can go for a walk and take in some fresh air. My body and mind are both revitalised by the fresh air. My grandmother makes me a delicious breakfast. In the evening, my whole family gathers to share our life stories as our grandfather makes tea.

My grandparents' home also has a small garden with grass that is a vibrant green colour. In the garden, there are swings as well. There, we also like playing entertaining games with our relatives, including water fights. We frequently spend the evenings sitting on the roof, looking up at the stars.

Holidays At Grandmother’s House

Over the holidays, there is always a lot of laughing and playing games at grandma’s house. Uncle's loud, recognisable giggle may be heard for miles. My aunt never misses an opportunity to comment on his laughter. The living room of our grandmother's home is where she regularly can be seen sitting and gazing out the window, close to the front entrance. She sits at this location to read the newspaper daily and sip on her old-fashioned steaming black coffee.

She can lose hours watching the birds fly to the feeder next to the window in her living room. Most birds have names that our grandmother is familiar with and recognises. She never skips a chance to observe the squirrels. Everything blossoms, and there are fresh flowers everywhere throughout the summer. In our town, the natural beauty is at an all-time high, and it's impossible to keep your eyes off the stunning surroundings. A pond is located behind the house. My cousins and I go fishing in the pond.

The village's residents lead simple, healthy lives. People care for one another and are always available. They make a lot of effort to maintain the facility's cleanliness because they care about it. We always look forward to our summer vacation so we may visit Grandma and Grandpa. Anyone who has met them will attest to their humility. All of this adds up to why I love my grandparents house and why it is my favourite place.

Essay on A Visit to a Place of Historical Importance

Our school had already announced that we were going to see the Taj Mahal. We were elated and were wondering how thrilling, and exciting this experience would be. We had heard and read about it- there was a full chapter in our history book on Taj Mahal, but now we were about to see it for real.

Our principal and teachers had planned for all of us to visit the Taj Mahal on a full moon night. We were told that on the full moon night the monument looks even more glamorous and glorious, and it makes for a splendid spectacle. This added even more excitement to the previous announcement. We would have had to stay awake the whole night but so what? For such a wonderful experience, it was not a big deal.

We were asked to assemble on a Saturday afternoon at the school campus. We were instructed to carry our packed dinner-boxes and water bottles. We were strictly prohibited from buying any eatables there or littering the Taj Garden’s premises. We were warned against buying the souvenirs from the crafty hawkers. These instructions and warnings were repeated to us over and over again. First by our Principal, then by the respective teachers who were in charge of our groups into which we were divided.

We had brought consent from our parents in writing for this trip. From Delhi to Agra, we had to travel by bus, it was around a 5 hours journey. We assembled at the school campus at the given time, and were divided into groups. The teachers took charge of the respective groups, our teacher in charge asked us to stand in a queue, she called out our names from a list that she carried. The items each one of us was carrying were inspected, and then we went ahead to board the buses.

As we started to move out of the school campus, we all hailed the school with three cheers in a chorus and the journey began. After about 5 hours we were told that we were at The Taj Mahal. The full moon was shining in the sky right above us. The premises seemed like it was filled with the milky hue. We left our buses at a little distance and stepped down. Again, our teachers called out our names from the lists, and we all stood in a straight line. We followed our teacher and walked towards the monument.

After a little while, we were at the main gate of The Taj Mahal. The Taj Mahal glowed in the full moonlight in its grandeur. We all felt wonderstruck by the majesty, beauty, and opulence of the dome structure. The moonlit premises added elegance to the mystique. The Taj Mahal resembled a white swan standing still in a sprawling milk lake. The fountains on the campus were bubbling and bursting along the pathway. The fountains were flanked by the green lawns on either side. It was heavily crowded. Men, women, and children were trying to find a way for themselves. There were so many foreigners looking at the monument like they were totally wonderstruck.

We had to ramble to make it to the main platform, took off our shoes at the entrance, and were up on the main platform on which stood the great monument. The four minarets stood like sentinels on the four corners. After about two hours of wandering and rejoicing around the ‘Dream in Marble’, we came down to the lawns to open our dinner packets. Thereafter, it was time to begin our return journey.

A Visit to a Historical Place Short Essay

Last Sunday, I visited the Taj Mahal with my family. It was a dream come true for us to have visited the architectural marvel about which we have heard so much and had read so much in our books. We started feeling proud of our country to have this magnificent form of art.

Our history teacher asked us to assemble at a place and started explaining how the Mughal emperor Shahjahan got this monument built as a mausoleum for his beloved queen Mumtaz Mahal. He had stated his desire to be buried by her side after his death. So, there were the two graves inside the mausoleum placed side by side.

We roamed around, kept adoring the astounding beauty, and were amazed at the artistry of the fine carvings. How gifted must those hands be which created that piece of art with so much artistry, we pondered. We looked at the Taj Mahal at one glance and in the second looked at the full moon in the sky. The Taj Mahal looked no less marvellous than the moon in the sky.

River Yamuna flows on the backside of this magnificent monument. It was as if the Yamuna was washing the feet of this marvellous wonder with a full sense of gratitude. For two hours, we went around this monument only rejoicing and wondering.

A Visit to a Historical Place Essay for Class 10, 12, and Graduation Students

Throughout India, there are several historical sites. The land is peppered with mediaeval temples and forts from Kanyakumari to Kashmir. Ruins of ninth-century Martand temple in Kashmir is flocked by many tourists every year

The Allahabad Fort was on my trip. Much has changed since then, yet the Allahabad Fort remains. Because of its superior architecture and beauty, Akbar ordered its construction in 1583. That of Agra is inferior. As the confluence of the Ganga and Yamuna rivers, in a triangle shape. Like the Agra fort's crimson sandstone walls.

Three of the city's main entrances include towers. This is because the Ganga and Yamuna rivers flow east and south. Just like the Agra Fort, this gate has a lot of hefty outworks. Built on the Mughal empire's eastern frontier, this fort symbolised the empire's eastward advance. When Allahabad began, it was a major metropolis.

This caused the fort's roof to collapse, destroying much of its former splendour. Allahabad was originally part of the Magadha Empire, and I instantly recognised the Ashoka pillar. The pillar has an ode to Samudragupta, the Magadha ruler, which I read aloud.

I visited the famed Prayag relic, Patalpuri Temple, one of the oldest remaining pre-Muslim buildings. Close to the arsenal's northern wall sits this shrine. It seems the fort was built to be erected far higher than the temple.

The Akshaya Var tree was again in my path as I continued walking. This tree's wish-fulfilling well is said to be a popular destination for folklore lovers. Akbar stopped it. The Mughal Governor's (Military Commander's) pavilion, however, was  most inviting with Beautiful pillars. They had impeccable taste.

The British decided to demolish a considerable portion of the fort to make place for a school, reducing its beauty. At present, the historic palace is now an arsenal.

Then I went back to Triveni for a swim. I lauded the Ganga's merits after my Allahabad Fort visit. Comparing the old and new forts at Allahabad, it is evident that the old fort at Allahabad is in ruins, while the new fort at Allahabad demonstrates neglect.

Describe a Trip to a Historical Site in Ten Lines

The Principal addressed the assembly, announcing a visit to Agra's Taj Mahal. The students are ecstatic.

Parental permission is required—on-time arrival on school property.

Teachers were given groups of pupils to whom they would do roll calls.

The five-hour trip to the Taj Mahal with their lunch bags was delightful and entertaining.

The full moon illuminated the night. From the front gate, the Taj was magnificent.

The description of the campus's lovely grass and fountains.

We reached the central platform after taking off our shoes.

The history instructor gathered the guys and recounted the Taj's whole history to them.

In the moonlight, the white marble monument resembles a swan swimming in a milk lake, Yamuna flows behind the Taj Mahal, the Yamuna cleanses the feet of Taj.

We re-boarded the buses two hours later and arrived in Delhi in the evening. Furthermore, it was a one-of-a-kind encounter.

The Taj Mahal is immortal. It may have been the beauty concretized in pure white marble. It may have been called a joy forever, but unfortunately in the materialistic world of today, even the beauty of the Taj Mahal is in danger because of the effluent Nitrous oxide and Sulphur dioxide being emitted by the Mathura refinery. Let us hope the scientists are able to find a fix and can save our Taj Mahal.

It has a beautiful marble screen. The Red Fort also has the War Memorial Museum where weapons used in the First World War are exhibited. We got to see many historical things that we read in our books. We enjoyed the trip very much.

Essay on a Visit to a Historical Place: 150 Words

My dream came true when last month our history teacher arranged a trip to Agra for us. It was 24 October when we reached there. That very afternoon we went to see the famous Taj Mahal. It is a masterpiece of architecture-all in marble. We admired the four more mosques with tall slender minarets and the huge central dome. The surroundings lend beauty to it. The mausoleum stands in the center of a big garden with marble water channels, rows of fountains, and stately cypress trees.

The tombs of Shah Jahan and his wife lie beneath the dome. We went to see the Agra Fort too. When Shah Jahan was confined there, he spent his time gazing at the mausoleum of his creation from his prison window. We saw things that we had read about in our books-the Dewan-i-Am, the Diwan-i-Khas, the Pearl Mosque, and the Shish Mahal. A visit to a place of historical importance does make history real and interesting. It was a wonderful trip.

A Visit to a Historical Place

A Visit to a Historical Place Essay: 200-250 Words

A visit to a historical place is very educative. It instructs as well as entertains us. I am fond of visiting historical buildings. Last year, I went to Agra to see the Taj Mahal. In the evening, we went to see the Taj Mahal. I had heard a lot about the beauty of the Taj Mahal. But reality surpassed the descriptions that had been given to me.

It is a wonder in marble, a specimen of Mughal art. Taj Mahal was built by Shah Jahan in the sweet memory of his wife, Mumtaz Mahal. It was built about three hundred and fifty years ago.  It stands on the right bank of the river Yamuna. The gateway which is made of red stone is very beautiful. The garden is very lovely. The tall dark cypress trees, smooth green lawns, and the beds of flowers are pleasing to the eyes. The fountains flow here and there.

The main building is made of white marble. It stands on a raised platform. At its four corners, there are four stately towers. Inside the tomb, Emperor Shah Jahan and his beloved Mumtaz Mahal lie buried side by side. This monument tells us about the expertise of the artists and craftsmen of that era. The visit to the Taj Mahal was a wonderful experience for us. It was both enjoyable and educational.

Essay on my Favourite place in 200 words

My favorite place that I enjoy spending a lot of time in is The Animal Care Association. I love animals of all kinds, I love helping them find shelter, or offering them some simple customized foods.

A year and a half ago I was able to join The Animal Care Association. I got to know them through a friend of mine. He told me about them after he saw me care a lot about animals and I love taking care of them and helping them.

Therefore, this association aroused my curiosity as soon as he talked to me about. It is a non-governmental association, which includes a very large number of people.

We volunteer a lot when calls come to the association to go and help animals, especially small ones that have lost their father and mother, or an animal that was crossing the road and had an accident. Such things I love to do.

Three months ago there was a little stray puppy on the side of the road, a person called the association and told them. We went to see what would happen, I was so worried about crossing the road and having an accident.

I was so happy when we found him on the side of the road and he didn’t cross. I cared about him a lot and played with him for a while to calm him down.

I suggested to the supervisor that we walk around the residential areas to see if we can find his parents. And indeed, after a little searching, we found his  owner was looking for him.

Place I Would Like To Visit

Paris is a city that I have always wanted to visit. It is the capital of France and is known for its fashion, food, art, and architecture. The Eiffel Tower is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the world and I would love to see it in person. If you have never been to Paris, I highly recommend adding it to your travel list.

I’ll simply say, “Paris” when people ask me about the place I’ve always wanted to visit. Then they’ll inquire, “Why Paris?” That’s a topic that I’m unsure of how and why to answer. Maybe they won’t understand it, but one day I’ll tell them why. For the time being, let me keep this as a personal request to God so that one day it may become true.

The Eiffel Tower is an icon of Paris and a symbol of France all around the world. It was built in 1889 by Gustave Eiffel for the Universal Exhibition, and at 324 metres it was the tallest building in the world until 1930. Today, over seven million people visit the Eiffel Tower each year, making it one of the most popular tourist attractions in the world!

There are so many reasons why I would love to visit Paris, but chief among them is its ability to transport me back in time. Walking through the streets of Paris is like stepping into a history book – everywhere you look there are reminders of the city’s rich past. From its iconic landmarks to its quaint cobbled alleyways, Paris is a city that oozes old-world charm.

Of course, no trip to Paris would be complete without a visit to the top of the Eiffel Tower. Standing high above the city streets, the views from the tower are simply breathtaking.

Paris is the place where fashion, culture, and music are brought together, and of course where ‘love’ will live forever. Paris is sometimes known as “the city of love” because it has a beautiful backdrop at night. The city of light may be because it has an magnificent nighttime view.

The most popular places to visit are the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame Cathedral, and The Louvre Museum. If you are a lover of art then a trip to Paris is a must. There are many museums that will take your breath away such as The D’orsay, Pompidou Centre, and Orangerie.

When in Paris you must try the cuisine, it is some of the best in the world. Some of the famous dishes are escargot (snails), foie gras (fatty liver), and of course French onion soup. If you have a sweet tooth then you’re in luck because Paris has some of the best desserts in the world including macarons, crème brûlée, and éclairs.

If you are looking for a shopping trip then Paris is the place for you. There are high-end designers such as Chanel, Louis Vuitton, and Hermès but there are also many places to find more affordable clothes. Paris is a great place to find unique gifts for friends and family back home.

Overall, Paris is an amazing city with something for everyone. It is a place that I would definitely recommend visiting.

There’s a spot in Paris where I’ve always wanted to visit. Have you ever heard of the Eiffel Tower? Yes, it is the location where my heart belongs. For me, it is the most beautiful location on earth. They’ll say something like, “Why do you want to go there? It’s only a tower with nothing more”, but for me it’s more than that. We may truly go up the Eiffel Tower in a cab…I can imagine how wonderful it would be to ride up to its top, just as if it were a dream come true.

When I was little, my father used to tell me stories about the Eiffel Tower. He would say that it was the most beautiful tower in the world and that I should go there one day. I never forgot those stories and ever since then, I’ve wanted to visit the Eiffel Tower.

I think that the Eiffel Tower is a symbol of love. It’s a place where people go to declare their love for each other. They say that if you kiss at the top of the Eiffel Tower, you’ll be together forever. That’s why I want to go there with someone special one day and experience it for myself.

So if you’re ever in Paris, make sure to visit the Eiffel Tower. It’s a place that I will always hold close to my heart.

What Sentencing Could Look Like if Trump Is Found Guilty

A black-and-white photo of Donald Trump, standing behind a metal barricade.

By Norman L. Eisen

Mr. Eisen is the author of “Trying Trump: A Guide to His First Election Interference Criminal Trial.”

For all the attention to and debate over the unfolding trial of Donald Trump in Manhattan, there has been surprisingly little of it paid to a key element: its possible outcome and, specifically, the prospect that a former and potentially future president could be sentenced to prison time.

The case — brought by Alvin Bragg, the Manhattan district attorney, against Mr. Trump — represents the first time in our nation’s history that a former president is a defendant in a criminal trial. As such, it has generated lots of debate about the case’s legal strength and integrity, as well as its potential impact on Mr. Trump’s efforts to win back the White House.

A review of thousands of cases in New York that charged the same felony suggests something striking: If Mr. Trump is found guilty, incarceration is an actual possibility. It’s not certain, of course, but it is plausible.

Jury selection has begun, and it’s not too soon to talk about what the possibility of a sentence, including a prison sentence, would look like for Mr. Trump, for the election and for the country — including what would happen if he is re-elected.

The case focuses on alleged interference in the 2016 election, which consisted of a hush-money payment Michael Cohen, the former president’s fixer at the time, made in 2016 to a porn star, Stormy Daniels, who said she had an affair with Mr. Trump. Mr. Bragg is arguing that the cover-up cheated voters of the chance to fully assess Mr. Trump’s candidacy.

This may be the first criminal trial of a former president in American history, but if convicted, Mr. Trump’s fate is likely to be determined by the same core factors that guide the sentencing of every criminal defendant in New York State Court.

Comparable cases. The first factor is the base line against which judges measure all sentences: how other defendants have been treated for similar offenses. My research encompassed almost 10,000 cases of felony falsifying business records that have been prosecuted across the state of New York since 2015. Over a similar period, the Manhattan D.A. has charged over 400 of these cases . In roughly the first year of Mr. Bragg’s tenure, his team alone filed 166 felony counts for falsifying business records against 34 people or companies.

Contrary to claims that there will be no sentence of incarceration for falsifying business records, when a felony conviction involves serious misconduct, defendants can be sentenced to some prison time. My analysis of the most recent data indicates that approximately one in 10 cases in which the most serious charge at arraignment is falsifying business records in the first degree and in which the court ultimately imposes a sentence, results in a term of imprisonment.

To be clear, these cases generally differ from Mr. Trump’s case in one important respect: They typically involve additional charges besides just falsifying records. That clearly complicates what we might expect if Mr. Trump is convicted.

Nevertheless, there are many previous cases involving falsifying business records along with other charges where the conduct was less serious than is alleged against Mr. Trump and prison time was imposed. For instance, Richard Luthmann was accused of attempting to deceive voters — in his case, impersonating New York political figures on social media in an attempt to influence campaigns. He pleaded guilty to three counts of falsifying business records in the first degree (as well as to other charges). He received a sentence of incarceration on the felony falsification counts (although the sentence was not solely attributable to the plea).

A defendant in another case was accused of stealing in excess of $50,000 from her employer and, like in this case, falsifying one or more invoices as part of the scheme. She was indicted on a single grand larceny charge and ultimately pleaded guilty to one felony count of business record falsification for a false invoice of just under $10,000. She received 364 days in prison.

To be sure, for a typical first-time offender charged only with run-of-the-mill business record falsification, a prison sentence would be unlikely. On the other hand, Mr. Trump is being prosecuted for 34 counts of conduct that might have changed the course of American history.

Seriousness of the crime. Mr. Bragg alleges that Mr. Trump concealed critical information from voters (paying hush money to suppress an extramarital relationship) that could have harmed his campaign, particularly if it came to light after the revelation of another scandal — the “Access Hollywood” tape . If proved, that could be seen not just as unfortunate personal judgment but also, as Justice Juan Merchan has described it, an attempt “to unlawfully influence the 2016 presidential election.”

History and character. To date, Mr. Trump has been unrepentant about the events alleged in this case. There is every reason to believe that will not change even if he is convicted, and lack of remorse is a negative at sentencing. Justice Merchan’s evaluation of Mr. Trump’s history and character may also be informed by the other judgments against him, including Justice Arthur Engoron’s ruling that Mr. Trump engaged in repeated and persistent business fraud, a jury finding that he sexually abused and defamed E. Jean Carroll and a related defamation verdict by a second jury.

Justice Merchan may also weigh the fact that Mr. Trump has been repeatedly held in contempt , warned , fined and gagged by state and federal judges. That includes for statements he made that exposed witnesses, individuals in the judicial system and their families to danger. More recently, Mr. Trump made personal attacks on Justice Merchan’s daughter, resulting in an extension of the gag order in the case. He now stands accused of violating it again by commenting on witnesses.

What this all suggests is that a term of imprisonment for Mr. Trump, while far from certain for a former president, is not off the table. If he receives a sentence of incarceration, perhaps the likeliest term is six months, although he could face up to four years, particularly if Mr. Trump chooses to testify, as he said he intends to do , and the judge believes he lied on the stand . Probation is also available, as are more flexible approaches like a sentence of spending every weekend in jail for a year.

We will probably know what the judge will do within 30 to 60 days of the end of the trial, which could run into mid-June. If there is a conviction, that would mean a late summer or early fall sentencing.

Justice Merchan would have to wrestle in the middle of an election year with the potential impact of sentencing a former president and current candidate.

If Mr. Trump is sentenced to a period of incarceration, the reaction of the American public will probably be as polarized as our divided electorate itself. Yet as some polls suggest — with the caveat that we should always be cautious of polls early in the race posing hypothetical questions — many key swing state voters said they would not vote for a felon.

If Mr. Trump is convicted and then loses the presidential election, he will probably be granted bail, pending an appeal, which will take about a year. That means if any appeals are unsuccessful, he will most likely have to serve any sentence starting sometime next year. He will be sequestered with his Secret Service protection; if it is less than a year, probably in Rikers Island. His protective detail will probably be his main company, since Mr. Trump will surely be isolated from other inmates for his safety.

If Mr. Trump wins the presidential election, he can’t pardon himself because it is a state case. He will be likely to order the Justice Department to challenge his sentence, and department opinions have concluded that a sitting president could not be imprisoned, since that would prevent the president from fulfilling the constitutional duties of the office. The courts have never had to address the question, but they could well agree with the Justice Department.

So if Mr. Trump is convicted and sentenced to a period of incarceration, its ultimate significance is probably this: When the American people go to the polls in November, they will be voting on whether Mr. Trump should be held accountable for his original election interference.
