On September 10, 2022, Slimecicle was awoken from dormancy and manipulated by Dream and Purpled to "hate and kill" Quackity. Later, Slimecicle met up with Quackity at Las Nevadas. Slime, at first, seemed to interact positively with Quackity, until Dream and Purpled arrived. After they threatened Quackity with prison and death, Slimecicle betrayed Quackity by threatening to stab him. During all the Slime Army chaos, Slime and Purpled chased Quackity up to the top of the hotel, and after Quackity had thought that Slime had finally remembered everything, Slime began to recite all of Quackity lessons and then push Quackity off of the hotel, taking his first canon life. After this, Quackity still seems to think Slime has good in him. When writing his book at Kinoko Kingdom, Technoblade's cabin, and the spot where Wilbur left for Utah, Quackity ended the book with "Quackity from Las Nevadas," showing he still thinks about Slime.
Quackity had a long history with Techno, even before joining the SMP. Quackity was hunted down and killed by him in the tournament, allegedly causing Quackity to have PTSD. After Techno joined the SMP, Quackity was repeatedly shown to be extremely fearful of him, at one point even logging out due to fear (and if the PTSD-related claims are to be believed, flashbacks). Quackity eventually attempted to confront his fear of Techno, but the endeavor ended in failure. The primary reason that Techno got off of Quackity's back was because Quackity tried to ask Techno out on a date (at his stream chat's request) to make amends, which Techno turned down. Aside from his personal beef against Technoblade, Quackity remained allied with him in Pogtopia to take down Schlatt. However, Quackity's hatred for Techno grew after Techno helped destroy L'Manberg during the . On December 16, Quackity, Tubbo, Fundy, and Ranboo teamed up to go kill Technoblade as the , with the intention of seeking vengeance on Techno both for destroying L'Manberg and in two cases, more personal reasons (for Quackity, it was Minecraft Mondays). However, their plan failed and Technoblade was able to flee to the , where Quackity confronted him. The two had a duel, resulting in Quackity being killed by Technoblade and losing one of his lives. Later, Quackity and Technoblade formed a temporary truce in order to end the Egg and Eggpire at the Red Banquet. They worked together to achieve this mutual goal, but still considered each other to be enemies outside of opposing the Egg, with Quackity explicitly calling Techno "[his] biggest enemy". In one of Technoblade's streams in early June, Quackity shows up at Techno’s home, the two interacted positively towards each other, with Quackity stating multiple times throughout the conversation that they have put their differences behind them. Quackity, however, was lying and he and trapped Techno in the prison with Dream. About three months later, Quackity revisited Dream and Techno in the prison. Although the three acted fairly cordial at first over the dog in the prison cell, which Quackity named "Rat", tensions eventually escalated to the point that Quackity threatened Techno's life in exchange for Dream giving him the knowledge on revival, at one point even calling the two "the biggest headaches" to him on the server. During the visit, Quackity also showed a vengeful side towards Techno over his canon death, being ready to kill Techno the same way ended, with a pickaxe to the face, a canon life lost, and a disfiguring scar to remember. Techno's escape from the prison just before he could kill him caused Quackity's paranoia to spike, which eventually got worse when it appeared that Dream had escaped as well.
Quackity had been friends with Tommy and had a mostly good relationship with him since around the time he joined the server, and both were part of the cartel for phantom membranes. During the first half of the , despite being on opposing sides of the rebellion, Quackity and Tommy had had a positive relationship. The two were no longer enemies since Quackity joined Pogtopia, and Quackity's feeling of internal conflict in Manberg coupled with Tommy's loss of trust in Wilbur led them to occasionally hang out. Quackity continued to hold a positive relationship with Tommy after his exile, visiting him during his exile. On January 20, when Tommy and Tubbo set off to fight Dream and get the discs back, Tommy went to talk to Quackity and thanked him for everything. When Tommy and Tubbo were in the vault, Quackity came to save him along with the others. However, even though Quackity was friends with Tommy and Tubbo, he openly stated that he didn't trust anyone in the server. Quackity wanted Tommy's hotel to go to Jack since they were doing business together. When Jack told him about Tommy's death he was confused and tried to find every way to see every way possible that Tommy could quite possibly be alive, but failed to find a way. He was sorrowful about Tommy's death but had to push the situation away as he believed his emotions shouldn't get in the way of business. When Quackity heard from Tommy for the first time since he was revived, Quackity was extremely happy to see him. Quackity stated that he came back at the perfect time and that he was going to be rich. Quackity implies that he is also torturing Dream for what he did to Tommy, and not just for his knowledge of necromancy. When Quackity met Foolish, Foolish told him that Tommy took Slimecicle prisoner because he was upset that he wouldn't get Linda back. Quackity was shocked to see Tommy taking Slimecicle just for a shovel, making the relationship a bit tense, but Quackity still carries a soft spot for Tommy, encouraging the other citizens of Las Nevadas not to go too harsh on him. This soft spot futher shows after Dream's escape from Prison, when Quackity finds Tommy distressed and scared. Quackity talks with him softly. prompting him to breathe and calm down. He provides Tommy netherite armour to finish off his set, and other things to protect himself. Quackity also gives him the idea to make a wall resembling the original ones from L'Manberg, saying it'll make him feel more safe. As Tommy leaves the conversation, Quackity tells him he'll always be safe and welcome in . Tommy thanks him again and sets off to go follow through with Quackity's suggestions.
During their time spent together working as part of the in , Quackity and Tubbo had a positive relationship, and Quackity would stand up for Tubbo when Schlatt got angry at him. At the , Quackity helped trap Tubbo in a box on the , thinking Tubbo was to be put in jail, but immediately protested when he realized Tubbo was to be executed. The next day, Quackity killed Schlatt and left to join Pogtopia, and later apologized to Tubbo. On November 16, 2020, before the , Quackity and Tubbo trusted each other, discussing together who the Pogtopia traitor could be and even considering running away together, although they both made the decision to stay and fight. They also discussed plans to rebuild the Camarvan once they had won back L'Manberg, and also agreed that they blamed George for everything that had gone wrong since the election, with Tubbo saying that Quackity shouldn't blame himself. After the war, Tubbo made Quackity his Secretary of State as part of the . During their time working together in the , Quackity could be quite harsh on Tubbo, but wanted the best for him. He urged him to use his authority to stand up to Dream. The and were Quackity's idea, and though Tubbo had doubts about whether or not it was a good plan, he went along with it. Just before the , Quackity gave Tubbo a pep talk, since Tubbo had been decided to be the one to execute Dream. Tubbo stated in return that if he were to fail, "everything would be Quackity's call" from then on, effectively making him the new president. However, this never happened, since Dream was never executed and the Festival instead turned into a fight at the destroyed Community House. During this fight, it was revealed by Dream that Ranboo had been disloyal to L'Manberg, which prompted Quackity to later suggest to Tubbo that they should execute Ranboo, as Quackity wanted to protect Tubbo from being betrayed and hurt. However, Tubbo reacted very negatively to this and immediately stood up for Ranboo, getting angry and shouting at Quackity, and comparing the idea to his own execution at the Red Festival. He stated that if Quackity tried to execute Ranboo, it would be treason. During the , despite Quackity having left L'Manberg after his disagreement with Tubbo the previous day, Quackity returned to fight for L'Manberg, and sang the with Tommy, Tubbo and Ghostbur while surveying the destruction that had been done. Quackity was one of the people to come to save Tommy and Tubbo during the , and he acted friendly, waving to the two of them while everyone else was confronting Dream. Afterwards, he paid a visit to Snowchester, warning Tubbo not to trust anyone (including Quackity himself), showing that he still cared about Tubbo and wanted to see him safe. Despite their disagreements, the two parted on terms of mutual respect, and Tubbo has stated that he considers them friends. However, since Tubbo started building , his outpost near Las Nevadas, the relationship between the two became somewhat strained. Quackity griefed the outpost together with Fundy and Slimecicle, and later on, asked him to take down the walls of the outpost because he felt threatened by it, which Tubbo refused to do because he wanted to protect the outpost, as his builds had a history of being destroyed. Quackity said to Tubbo during their discussion that he didn't have the time or energy for a conflict with him, and instead proposed that they work together. He also stated that he was only acting to protect his country. However, Tubbo refused to back down and instead ended up threatening Quackity with nuclear warfare and left, leaving their disagreement unresolved. Tubbo also seemed to partially blame Quackity for his execution at the Manberg Festival, despite the fact that at the time, Quackity was actively trying to prevent the execution itself from happening. Despite this, Tubbo seemed to have no qualms about being hired to work for Las Nevadas's burger place on August 4, 2021, and agreed to allow Walltown's annexation into Las Nevadas land. With this, Tubbo and Quackity put the conflict behind them and agreed to start on a clean slate, though they are both still aware of and have spoken about their shared history as part of the L'Manberg cabinet. Additionally, in a later conversation with Ranboo, Tubbo appeared to have shifted the blame for his death at the Manberg Festival away from Quackity, or at least accepted that his death that day had been inevitable. He also seemed to admire Quackity for what he had achieved in building Las Nevadas. The two are now on good terms.
Despite being competitors during the SWAG2020 vs POG2020 Election, the two developed a fairly neutral relationship. Wilbur and Quackity got to know each other when they built together, and Wilbur saw that Quackity cared for Manberg, though they didn't agree on policies. Quackity thought that Wilbur and Tommy's banishment was too harsh, revealing empathy for him, but Wilbur also blamed Quackity for getting Schlatt in power. The two had a difficult relationship in Pogtopia, frequently switching between borderline romantic and incredibly tense. Before visiting Dream, Quackity visited Wilbur's resurrection shrine, writing a to him and leaving it in a chest. In that letter, he wrote that Wilbur was his "dearest friend," showing that he had come to like Wilbur even more than when he died. Wilbur found the note after his revival and immediately sought Quackity out, displaying a similar level of fondness and eagerness to join him. When rejected by Quackity, he immediately acted petty about it, arguing with him loudly - though, he also bounced back very quickly from this, and admitted that he had a very confusing relationship with him (that might, once again, be ). Quackity and Wilbur seem to have a sort of petty rivalry with each other that they both use to hide their confusing, conflicting, and posssibly even romantic feelings for one another.
- "Yes, sir!"
- "He's burning so hard in hell the flames can't even go out with my piss!" - during Jschlatt's funeral
- "Is this your opinion, or Dream's?" - to Eret during negotiations for Mexican L'Manberg.
- "You know what? Let's fucking find out, you son of a bitch!"
- "Tommy, I only have one thing to say to you right now. Dream has a lot of people on his side. So trust nobody." - to Tommy as he prepared for his quest to reclaim the discs
- "Then why don't you have Skeppy?" - to BadBoyHalo after he said the Egg could give him anything he desired
- "Of course Tommy. It will be my pleasure." - to Tommy before the Disc Confrontation , with Tommy saying that if he dies, Quackity will continue his legacy.
- "I found Nemo! For you, Tommy." - to Tommy while giving him the clownfish he called Nemo.
- "I'm gonna come here every single FUCKING day to make your life HELL..." - to Dream, threatening him.
- "My dear friend Wilbur, you were right all along, and I'm not gonna make the same mistake twice."
- BadBoyHalo : "Guess what, Quackity: If you really wanted to stop us, you should have brought more than just yourself. You should have brought an army with you!" Quackity : "Guess what, Bad? I did! I did. In fact, I brought the next best thing. I brought my biggest enemy! (Laughs) I literally brought my biggest enemy, Bad!" - during the confrontation at the Red Banquet
- "It's just you and me here alone here, I have the axe, and I will slit your fucking throat with it." - to Dream, telling him to write a note to Technoblade .
- Sam: "He's- he's like not- not a good guy..." Quackity: "Ha! 'He's not good' Sam oh of course- We're the good guys Sam. We are. We're the good people." - while Quackity and Sam were discussing whether or not to hire Foolish to be apart of Las Nevadas
- "The reason I came to you Foolish is because I see myself in you. I also once believed that peace was a way to live. I used to want the betterment of people, those were my life morals Foolish. And guess where that brought me? That brought me nothing but suffering. That brought me nothing but a death. That's the reality of it Foolish. That's the reality of all of us. I was once like you and that's the reason I let you die and the reason I've come to you. It's because you have so much potential." - to Foolish telling him why he wants him to be apart of Las Nevadas and why he let him die at the Red Banquet .
- "I take care of those who take care of me. Why do you think I have no one around? Put two and two together, Foolish."
- "You know, when you killed me...You think I was just gonna forget about it? You think I was just gonna walk away and just forget about it? I'll tell you something Techno. I'll tell you something alright? The same way you did it. I HAVE A PICKAXE. AND I'LL PUT IT. THROUGH YOUR FUCKING TEETH, TECHNO!"
- Slime: "Maybe one day I will teach you something." Quackity: "You have."
- Slime: "Was it worth it?" Quackity: "What?" Slime: "I've been watching for a long time. One person lashes out and the other does until they're both gone. From what I've seen it feels like people won't stop taking that revenge. Is it ever worth it?" Quackity: "No, it's not."
- Slime: "I think I trust you... Should I stop?" Quackity: "The people I really care about are the people I keep around me. You're the first person I've kept around me for this long."
- "Listen, we're a country, we're together! We're supposed to be together, we're supposed to help each other, Purpled! And you know what- you know what? Even if I did have the fucking book, I wouldn't give it to you. You're the last person I would ever fucking give it to."
- "PURPLED! WHAT THE FUCK HAVE YOU DONE? WHAT HAVE YOU DONE? PURPLED WHAT THE FUCK HAVE YOU DONE?"
- "You don't walk, you don't talk, I don't even know if you remember me."
- "You know when I write these books, it feels like I'm writing a story, and it feels weird referring you to slime. You're more than slime, you're human. So, it's gonna sound silly, but I came up with a name for you... I came up with Charlie. I kind of like it."
- "I hope I can hear you talk again one day, and hear you tell some of your silly jokes. I really miss that."
- Quackity : "Legacy is all you leave behind in this world." Slime : "Let's leave behind a good one."
- "Charlie, Charlie, Charlie, Charlie! I figured out the- book. Charlie? You wrote that and... left. ...Legacy. Left a legacy behind."
- "Welcome ladies and gentlemen to the grand opening of Las Nevadas, entertainment capital of the world! Indulge yourself in the lavish lifestyle you never knew you could have! Amidst the war and the chaos, try your luck, and experience thrills of a lifetime. You'll find yourself enjoying our hub of gambling, nightlife, shopping, fine dining and entertainment. And because we're building a legacy that is prepared to last for centuries, we're not only a hot spot for fun, but we are also a hotspot for business, trade, and power. What happens in this country stays in this country, so... are you ready to try your luck?"
- “The thing is, running a nation is hard, you have a lot of people depending on you, they invest their lives, their time, and their future into your hands… It’s a cliché but they pay through blood, sweat, and tears. And I just don’t think I can offer my people the best life on my own. Wilbur, I want to offer you a position. You’ve proven you’re not as volatile anymore, you’re not a threat to me and I think you’re ready to reenter government.”
- Quackity: “If you really valued my intelligence you wouldn’t need to remind me.” Wilbur: “I’ll be out of your hair, you’ll never have to think about me again, I-” Quackity: “I don’t think about you at all.”
- “He’s my citizen! I won’t let a citizen of my government die to a terrorist!”
- "My good friend, though my letter my come to you as a surprise, possibly a mere power play of some sort, or may you interpret this as an up coming attack. I have only the genuine intention in my heart to assure you, that I leave our past feuds behind. I only have one thing to say. No man learns from his constant accomplishments. For the road to wisdom is a rigid path. In life, we tend to shun and hold grievances towards those who teach us our toughest lessons. Some leave emotional scars where is others leave physical ones. All I know is that, retribution does not supply me with more wisdom, but it damages my soul, filling it with detestation and darkness. It would be silly to clarify the specifics of our feud. I simply want you to know that, wherever you may be, I extend my personal gratitude for your mere participation in my life's path to wisdom, and I encourage you to be apart of it once more, leaving all our differences behind. Sincerely, Quackity from Las Nevadas" - the letter Quackity sent to Karl, Wilbur, and Technoblade.
- "What year is this bread from?" - after biting into bread.
- Quackity has mentioned that he is partially blind in one of his eyes. This is due to having a scar across his eye and face, which he got from Technoblade from their duel.

Being the warden watching over single prisoner can be lonely. If it weren't for his records Sam wouldn't even remember the last time someone other than Quackity visited. It didn't matter anyway, they weren't there for him. They all just passed him on their way to see the monster Pandora holds. The monster Sam has to keep locked up and alive - certain duck hybrid making the latter rather difficult some days. Sam is trapped in the prison of his own creation just as much as Dream is, it's just different things holding them in. While Dream is held in by obsidian walls, Sam is unable to leave because of his duties as warden. In the heart of the prison, in his blood covered cell, a sole prisoner is lonely too. Maybe they could be lonely together? Or: I suck at summaries but I had this idea of Sam and Dream becoming closer in the prison when they're pretty much the only people there and my brain wouldn't shut up about it and now were here (it'll take few chapters for them to get along so please be patient with me). Oh and Q has trauma or something Many thanks to my beta reads 1wn8ure and Bleue_Flora <3 (some grammar errors might still be present, but it's getting better)

As Quackity found himself momentarily laying still, regretting his life choices he heard an ominous creak. He couldn’t move fast enough to get out of harm's way as something snapped behind him. He thought that would be the end of him. While he was falling, time felt infinite. He had time to regret following Dream there. He had time to imagine Tubbo looking sadly at yet another empty grave. He had time to imagine Fundy’s face dropping at the news that yet another parental figure of his abandoned him with no explanation. If he survived, he promised himself that he would drop this absurd mission he got himself into and he would go back home. Some god up in the sky must have heard him because he landed with a wet squelch on a pile of soft but putrid material. It was even darker in there, but he had cleaned up the aftermath of a war for enough time to recognize what the stench was even without any visual hints. All around him were piles and piles of rotting corpses. - Reduplicative paramnesia: a false memory or delusion characterized by the subjective certainty that a person has been duplicated. Or following Dream back to his base Quackity ends up in a death factory full of Tommy clones

Everything should have been fine. He should have been happy. They should have left him alone. Instead Tommy’s banging on the bars to his cell, unable to escape. His flock is alone now, and he’s on deaths row. Except the heroes don’t kill him, they spare his life and force the great Villain to go to therapy. Secrets are revealed and skeletons are let out of closets. Meanwhile the story of the missing child Icarus Vigor is told, a kid who was just trying his best yet flew to close to the sun. There are some things better left forgotten, but the story of Icarus should never be one of them. And perhaps the murder of the Vigors isn’t as mysterious as it seemed. Rated Mature for violence <3

“Prisoner,” Sam said, marching up to him, “I have something special for you today.” Dream hated how he got excited when his brother said that. It was probably only a new weapon, it could even just be a fist to his face, yet the false fragment of hope he felt stayed. “You have a visitor,” the warden announced. Or It's been months since the last time Dream got a visitor - and the time his attempt at escaping ended with his brother and cruel warden using a bear trap to rip off a chunk of his side. Dream only wishes he could see someone else, and Sam growing tired of having to deal with his brother's defiance all by himself And Bad isn't unscathed after what he'd seen in the prison either. After months and months of holding his tongue, he fears his conscience and worry for Dream's wellbeing can't allow his silence to go on much longer.

"with a right hand placed on the / trunk feels that her heart still trembles under the new bark, / and having embraced the branches as limbs with his own arms / he gives the wood kisses, and the wood shrinks from the kisses." - Daphne and Apollo (Ovid's Metamorphoses) After a decade (more or less) abandoned in Pandora's Vault, completely alone, Dream escapes with the help of a god and a demon, hellbent on getting revenge on his server for what they did to him. But things are far from simple, as he barters with both them and his own broken body for more time alive -- and only get harder when he calls in a favor with an old friend. Because his Warden is hunting him. Only one two question (s) remains: how long can he keep this up? And is he really still in control?

Dream's plan worked. Well, not the one people thought ofcourse but still. Usually days went by slowly, staring at the clock. That was until he killed Tommy, did he regret it? Absolutely not. Did he regret the fact it led a certain greedy someone to him? Yeah. Day after day, Quackoty would visit the prison. Dau after day the cell would be covered in the same blood that'd stain Quackity and Dream's clothes. Day after day Dream began to loose his will. He began to "learn the lessons" Quackity taught him. Until one day OR, just Pandora's vault. And how it affected Dream after + his meetup with Punz:3

Dream was tied to the floor, being hit with one of his least favorite weapons, and there was no sign of it stopping anytime soon. He could feel himself bleeding out until he nearly died before the health potion finally landed, ‘saving him’ from death once again. At this point, Dream craved it like the restful sleep after a long day that it was. He’d been tortured for hours and hours. Or Quackity promises to torture Techno instead of Dream until he gets the book, but then Techno teleports away But luckily there's a perfectly good prisoner punching bag still sitting right there in the cell for him and Sam to take out their anger on, and it's not like he can die from all the torture or anything, he'd have to be a person to do that!

Scrapped Lore Round Two, Chair Boogaloo featuring some wanted trio (Dream, Punz & Techno). Or: A Chair. Revenge. Angst. Humor. Torture. Some Prison Trio. Wanted Trio. Staged Duo. Rivals Duo. Some Twists & Parallelism. Note: This takes place after the events of Crow's Nest , with the first chapters being the gap of Ch 10 & 11 A chair. Sitting innocuously in an odd corner of an odd hidden corridor. Punz just stares at it, studying the weirdly placed furniture hidden away like some dirty secret … but that’s not what makes his breath catch in his chest and still his every movement. No, it’s the blood stains, the leather straps, the divots and the roughed up wood that he sees lining its edges that make him feel as if he might throw up. It’s not where the chair is, but where it has been that ties Punz’s stomach into endless knots. It’s the implication carved into it as if suffering is engraved into the very grains of the wood, as if the residue of pain coats it, that makes him freeze with horror. Because it’s the chair.

“They’re not paying me anything.” Punz almost never did anything without the promise of monetary rewards. “Money is irrelevant right now. I’m not being rewarded or penalized regardless of what happens.” Punz’s voice was collected, and cold in the emotionless drawl Dream had long gotten used to. The mercenary wasn’t someone to wear his heart on his sleeves, and even at the height of their partnership, Dream had rarely known what the other was thinking. The crease of his brow was wrinkled slightly, but there was almost nothing readable. An impenetrable wall that Dream himself could not crack. That he couldn’t read. Dream had never been able to hold the same emotionless resolve, he’d needed a physical mask for that. Maybe Punz had always been colder than him. Maybe the mercenary had achieved what Dream had long since failed to. No attachments, no cares. Nothing. Or, the au where Punz genuinely betrayed Dream in the attachment room and they're both left to pick up the pieces of Pandora's Vault.

I write about the character Wilbur Soot, not the real person William Gold. If you don't want to read this story, I totally understand, and it's your choice whether to read or not. Support victims, stay safe out there. He leaned back against the wall and closed his eyes. What could've been hours, even days later, he was awoken by the sound of a rushing train and two blinding lights. Finally. A Cheshire cat grin crept onto his face as he stood up. He was going back. And he was going to get revenge . TLDR; Wilbur has been passing time in limbo by fantasizing things. Now the question is, is this real or fake?

Sam is the warden, he swore to protect everyone on the server from the monster inside the vault. But with each Quackity's visit it's harder and harder to see the lone prisoner as a monster. And Sam founds himself wondering. Is the real monster the one inside the box or the one he lets in? George can't sleep. His dreams that once comfort him are now only painful reminders of what he had lost. And when he once again finds himself before black walls of Pandora's vault he decides to step in. He wasn't ready for what he found Dream is hurting. He's been for months. Or at least he thinks so, he lost sense of time long ago. He can't remember the sun anymore, he can barely remember the faces of his once friends that he lost. So when George appears in his cell he brushes it of as another hallucination. But his hallucinations usually don't touch him ... Or: Sam can no longer ignore his guilt for letting Quackity into prison, so in attempt to help Dream at least a little he lets George in. George isn't pleased with what he found Many thanks to my amazing beta - Bleue_Flora (she started after chap 23 so grammar before that is not the best)

In Minecraft ’s Dream SMP, All the Server’s a Stage
On the morning of the Doomsday War, president Tubbo surveyed the grassy hills of his domain, L’Manberg. His second-in-command, TommyInnit, rested beside him on a bench, nodding stoically. “Listen,” TommyInnit began, pausing dramatically. “I know you had to exile me.”
Gesturing with their Lego-like avatars, TommyInnit and Tubbo were winding up tension in a Macchiavellian political drama that has unfolded over the past year in Minecraft . Last week, over 1 million people tuned in to watch live. TommyInnit said they’d leave the past behind them; he wasn’t mad anymore. L’Manberg’s future was in jeopardy. “It’s got to be me and you versus Dream, just like it always has been,” said TommyInnit.
Dream is the owner of the Dream SMP server, since May the home of a virtual world built whole-cloth by dozens of characters navigating intrigue and betrayal, with arcs and storylines more unpredictable than any reality television. Video games aren’t just pop culture, but material for its creation. And out of that knowledge, a new theatrical tradition has emerged—gunky and psychedelic and stupid and random in that “lol so randOm” way only the internet can be. Some of the most popular online video games have become stages for live theater, broadcast to millions over Twitch and YouTube.
That includes Minecraft , part game and part digital sandbox. It’s like if the imagined dramas kids invented around their Lego sets were manifest and infinitely malleable. Blocks and blocks of colored terrain form perfect replicas of the Spirited Away universe or Game of Thrones ’ King’s Landing. Building is the base skill, but there is also a Survival mode, in which players can collect items, craft tools, and fight creatures or each other.
Dream SMP is just that: The player Dream’s survival multiplayer server, where top Minecraft celebrities have constructed an ongoing, mostly improvised narrative over dozens of combined hours of livestreaming. On Twitch, the participants separately go live on their own channels to further the fictional drama through their unique perspectives for their millions of subscribers. Their fans have assembled Thucydidean wikis describing each and every conflict: the BT period (Before TommyInnit), the controversial election between the So We Are Gamers (SWAG2020) and Politicians of Gaming (POG2020) parties, the Second Pet War, right on to Doomsday.
“Stories are usually told in a more traditional way in television, movies, and musicals. What happens here is unique,” says Dream SMP’s Quackity. “To a lot of people, Minecraft is a game where people mine and gather resources. We’ve legitimized the fact that we can tell very interesting stories through video games.”
Dream SMP has a small and exclusive writers room. It’s on Discord. The personalities making up the storyline meet secretly in voice channels to sketch out general plot points: an election, maybe, or a new building. Written declarations of war (“Sometimes you just gotta kill some people sometimes yaknow - Sun Tzu”) or military strategies. Once the livestreams roll, though, things can quickly go off the rails, and often do. Quackity recalled waiting on stage at a podium for the results of Dream SMP’s presidential election. His SWAG2020 running mate, GeorgeNotFound, wasn’t showing up. It turned out he slept through the event.
“We joke about this. This entire Dream SMP lore happened because of GeorgeNotFound,” says Quackity. Abandoned, Quackity made an impromptu political party with a drunk-acting insurrectionist, Jschlatt, to form SchWAG2020. They won with 46 percent of the popular vote to POG2020’s 45 percent.
Role-playing in online video games is about as old as online video games themselves; In the ’90s, players in role-play multi-user dungeons (RP MUDs) prescribed rules of engagement and constructed elaborate storylines through elaborate, made-up characters, all with text. In early massively multiplayer online role-playing games, players would forego the prescribed plot to leverage avatars’ fashions, emotes, and customizable homes toward communal storytelling. But live video platforms like Twitch and YouTube have reformulated private video game role-play into entertainment, and entertainment into business. It is an art form that has become a bonafide viewing experience, a culture machine, closer in lineage to live theater than Tyler “Ninja” Blevins’ Fortnite trick shots.
Minecraft SMP isn’t harkening in this new era of performance on its own. It is one piece of a renaissance. In the open-world action game Grand Theft Auto 5 , gamers role-play messy interpersonal affairs and hard-boiled mafia narratives, moving their avatars and their vehicles around a sprawling city map. In 2019, at its peak popularity, viewers tuned in for over 17 million hours of GTA role-play over the course of just seven days. Recently, in the 2013 multiplayer survival-shooter Rust , a server run by Twitch streamer collective Offline TV has ascended to full-on reality television. Forming and breaking factions and stabbing each other with spears, dozens of top streamers vectored their personalities off the game to the effect of over a million viewers at its peak in early January.
Games are commodities, and games are art; but they are also artistic media. For players who choose to use them this way, games are the sum of their mechanics and aesthetics, like the underbelly of a piano or the set of a Broadway play. (Some fans refer to the Dream SMP as “Minecraft Hamilton” because of players’ many references to the musical). And liveness matters. The spectator sport is in analyzing how, given the limitations of game mechanics, players coordinate and improvise narratives. Even in a slow, creative game like Minecraft , the artists see limits where others don’t, and don’t see limits where others do.
Those qualities are also what make Dream the best-ever Minecraft player, according to countless videos on YouTube, where he has 16 million subscribers. Dream has held world records for Minecraft Survival mode speedruns , in which he exploits his knowledge of the game to mine materials, craft items, and beat the Ender Dragon, the biggest natural monster in the game, more quickly than anyone else. (In one run, he took a few extra seconds to name his sword “penis.” Some of Dream's speedruns are disputed; he has denied allegations of cheating.) His fame exploded in part due to his Minecraft Manhunt YouTube series, in which he raced to kill the Ender Dragon with just one life while his friends, hot in pursuit with traps and weapons, attempted to thwart him. The game is his art, and the stream is his theater.
His knowledge of Minecraft ’s mechanics has given Dream SMP its own moments of high drama. A running storyline there is the “Disc Saga,” an ongoing battle to possess two rare records. TommyInnit once hid his discs deep under a mountain, live on stream but off camera so there was no visual record. As Dream searched around the mountain, he instead turned to sound, analyzing the footfalls and block-mining from his rival’s video. Like that, he captured the discs.
If all the world’s a stage, the internet is doubly so. The immense popularity of video game theater is in part due to its accessibility as free, online entertainment. More concretely though, the internet is the ocean everybody is swimming in—viewers, performers, critics, and everybody in between. The performance is diffuse across the game, across Twitch and its archived YouTube video, streamers’ Twitters (where they whine), their Instagrams (where they flex). The stage has no pit; it appears flat. Dream has never even revealed his face. To his audience of Minecraft players, he is a Minecraft elemental, and they are all enjoying the same tides.
On Doomsday, the battle for L’Manberg raged. Blocky avatars armed with swords bounced up and down across the district’s crumbling turf. Then, suddenly: “What?” yelled Tubbo, flames clouding his vision. Streams of explosives rained down; Dream had secretly installed TNT machines in the sky before the battle. The bricks comprising L’Manberg poofed out of existence. It was now a crater.
Correction 01/13/21 12:05am EST: This story has been updated to reflect that Dream's subscriber count on YouTube is 16 million, not 10 million. We regret the error.

Dream SMP: Quackity » Characters
Main Characters Index The Greater Dream SMP ( Dream ) | The Badlands | Boomerville | Snowchester | The Eggpire | Kinoko Kingdom | The Syndicate ( Technoblade ) | Las Nevadas ( Quackity ) | Unaffiliated ( Jschlatt , TommyInnit , Wilbur Soot ) | Tales from the SMP
Schlatt's former Vice-President prior to his defection to Pogtopia. Quackity ran against Wilbur and Tommy in the election, and pooled his votes with Schlatt in order to win. However, he slowly became disillusioned with Schlatt's attitude as a leader, until finally Tubbo's execution and the destruction of the White House led him to leave Manburg and join Pogtopia in the fight against Schlatt. He was the Secretary of State of L'Manburg, but got promoted to Vice-President after Tommy's exile. He was also the president of his own nation, El Rapids, and was the de facto leader of the Butcher Army, a cross-faction organization that seeks retribution against war criminals. After the Doomsday War, he has struck out on his own to create Las Nevadas, and has, for a period of time, violated the Geneva Convention on a daily basis by torturing Dream in prison for knowledge of the revive-book. However, at the same time, his declining morality has been fueled through embitterment and by hitting the Despair Event Horizon in the midst of severe trauma and abandonment issues, and it took him many weeks and some help from the members of Las Nevadas for him to start gradually snap out of his cynical spiral. Quackity has one life left. He lost his first to Technoblade in a duel, and his second to Slimecicle by being knocked off of the balcony of the Las Nevadas Hotel in a What the Hell, Hero? "The Reason You Suck" Speech .
Quackity himself
- When Slimecicle asks him how he could tell if someone is a bad person, as a response to Quackity's advice not to trust anybody , he replies that he can tell him something bad about every single person on the SMP.
- During Purpled's June 9th lore stream, Quackity has also claimed that he "fortunately [...] stopped seeing the good in people", implying that he invoked this belief on himself, most likely because seeing the good in people has primarily caused him endless heartbreak, pain, and trauma.
- Adaptation Dye-Job : Mildly and weirdly played with. In Quackity's first perspective stream on the SMP, he confirms his Minecraft skin either has a beanie or a "really fucking shitty mullet", and is inclined to interpret it as the former. However, while the fandom doesn't think he wears a hat in his Minecraft skin, he is still almost universally portrayed with his iconic beanie, similar to his real-life appearance.
- Affectionate Nickname : Schlatt refers to him as his "Sugar Pumpkin", to his disgust after their breakup.
- Ambiguous Criminal History : It was mentioned very off-handedly in one of Quackity's earliest appearances that he had been in juvie for either 10, 41, or 43 years before joining the SMP, though little context for this is given, including what he did to get sentenced in the first place (Tommy claimed that it was for "having too much fun", but how reliable this statement should be taken as, we're not certain). Considering this is rarely (if ever) brought up again after those early appearances, this was likely Played for Laughs and its canonicity is dubious note Though it can be considered soft-canon by virtue of the Cartel being hard-canon .
- Throughout Ponk's findings about the Village That Went Mad, they found a picture of Helga and theorized that Quackity could be descended from her, based on the two's similar appearances . However, whether or not the two are actually related is still unknown and unconfirmed.
- Since Mexican Dream once mentioned that he hates the fact that Sapnap was dating his cousin, it implies that he and Quackity might be cousins. note Alternately, M.D. could be referring to Karl , but given c!Quackity and Mexican Dream are played by the same actor who's Mexican in real life, one would wonder.
- Ambition Is Evil : Downplayed . Evil is a strong word, but Quackity's desire to claim and sustain power for himself and his nations have lead to him doing or saying some morally dark things, including and not limited to Cold-Blooded Torture . This is gradually played more straight over time as Quackity's actions during his time running Las Nevadas become more and more morally questionable.
- Amoral Attorney : A meta version. Quackity the content creator is a law student who makes good use of his negotiation skills in the roleplay, and the in-universe business and 'legal' documents and contracts which he writes are also worded with formal terminology... when he feels like it . His character, on the other hand, is morally ambiguous at best and outright villainous at worst, depending on the perspective and point in the timeline.
- Animal Motifs : Ducks, from a meta perspective, given his content creator counterpart's screen name and past videos. It also helps that Quackity as a character was quite silly (at least before his spiral ) and can canonically fly, not to mention that the room dedicated to him in the Lost City of Mizu from Tales From the SMP had a yellow duck design on the flooring.
- Anti-Hero : Probably the simplest way to describe him, initially fluctuating between the Pragmatic and Unscrupulous types, then later pushing more towards the Nominal type. Two of the main reasons he can still technically be classified to be on the heroic side, are that his most morally dark actions, e.g. torture and attempted murder, are directed towards fully villainous characters or characters who have remorselessly hurt others (e.g. Dream, and Techno to a lesser extent); or that the actions were genuinely well-intentioned, albeit heavily misguided and influenced by his skewed perspective at the time (recruiting Foolish and Purpled, and possibly Fundy, to Las Nevadas).
- Arch-Enemy : For a more subdued example, Techno and Quackity are this towards each other , being each other's antithesis. They each thrive in an environment which would make the other weak Explanation Techno works best in a world where Might Makes Right and believes that violence is the most universal language, but is very socially awkward; whereas Quackity is a charismatic talker and a businessman through and through, and is a Non-Action Guy at heart who preferred to fight with words instead of weapons (but was forced to abandon these beliefs because of the Might Makes Right mentality of the server) , and have respectively caused each other tremendous amounts of grief and trauma throughout the series and even before it began (read: Minecraft Mondays). This is why it was such a shocker for them to team up against the Eggpire during the Red Banquet, a fact that both of them lampshade.
- Arc Words : "Don't trust anyone" has been his mantra since late in Season 1 as a sign of his drift from idealism , and considering his previous trauma , he has every reason to believe in this. He eventually passes this on as advice to Tubbo, Tommy and Slimecicle. Slimecicle ends up throwing this back at him in the "Las Nevadas" finale, calling him out on his hypocrisy.
- Ascended Extra : While Quackity running against Wilbur alongside Schlatt was what sparked the Election/Manberg arc in the first place, he ended up being mostly in the background after Schlatt was elected. That is until he resigned and joined Pogtopia after a heated argument with Schlatt. Later on, he became the vice president of New L'Manberg, leading to him having a much more active role in the plot of the SMP.
- Auto-Tune : Quackity has used this for multiple gags in the earlier days of the SMP (before his corruption arc, at least). The most memorable example would be his insulting song at Schlatt's funeral , where he sang off-key while using autotune . Quackity: HE'S DEAD AND I WOULDN'T HAVE IT ANY OTHER WAY!
- Babies Ever After : It doesn't actually happen in canon (the El Rapids debacle aside), but when Foolish suggests to increase the population of Las Nevadas after its grand opening, Quackity's mind immediately jumps to raising children from infanthood, suggesting that this might be something he wants in his future.
- Baby Don't Got Back : Most likely invoked and Played for Drama ; Schlatt effectively demoted him to eye candy by the time SchWAG2020 won the L'Manburg elections, saying he just had to "sit there and have a fat ass", then proceeded to mock him for allegedly having a "flatty patty". Those two words end up becoming one of Quackity's Trauma Buttons .
- Badass Bureaucrat : As of his Las Nevadas arc, Quackity is described to be a "beaurocrat" [ sic ] and has had several fairly impressive feats to his name, including being one of the first to see through Dream's smoke and mirrors , having both Technoblade and Dream at his mercy at different points in time by out-smarting them, and committing tyrannicide.
- Be Careful What You Wish For : According to the "Las Nevadas" finale, at the start of the elections, Quackity confided in Tommy that he felt the upcoming elections would change his life. It sure was a turning point in his life... and by that, we mean it kick-started a Trauma Conga Line that ended in him dying (twice!) and a few mental breakdowns too many.
- Became Their Own Antithesis : Before the L'Manburg Elections, Quackity believed that there was good in everyone and many of his actions were driven by a desire for justice and fairness. This ends up being a stark contrast to him while in his "Las Nevadas" arc, where his Trauma Conga Line drove him to become "The House That Always Wins" who " stopped seeing the good in people ".
- Being Good Sucks : Deconstructed Trope . In Season 1, Quackity strived to make the world of the DSMP a better place through fairness and justice, and even in Season 2, his ultimate goal was to make L'Manburg stronger and to stand up against tyranny, though his actions had started to grow more morally dubious as of then. However, given the Crapsack World the Dream SMP is, almost all of his efforts were rebuked , being 'rewarded' through copious amounts of trauma from abuse, a Cruel and Unusual Death and L'Manburg being nuked to bedrock, and said trauma ends up causing him to snap and make the official spiral down to becoming his past-self's own antithesis .
- Berserk Button : Doubling as a Trauma Button , he does not appreciate being called a "flatty patty" by Schlatt, who enjoys pressing that button .
- Beware the Silly Ones : Quackity is a cloudcuckoolander of the highest degree, as noted below. He's also incredibly determined and way smarter than he lets on, to the point where he's one of the few people smart enough to see through Dream's guise of just trying to help, and brave enough to challenge Technoblade to a fight.
- Big Bad Wannabe : For the Election Arc — him challenging Wilbur for President wasn't seen as much of a threat.
- Big Brother Instinct : He tries to look out for Tubbo and Tommy in his own way. Although he didn't always agree with Tubbo during the boy's presidency and often tried to pressure him into going along with his own plans, it wasn't because Quackity didn't respect Tubbo but rather, and ironically, because he didn't want people to walk over him. He also respects Tommy quite a bit, and was angry when Tommy got exiled. Tommy's death genuinely devastated Quackity, he was more then happy when Tommy came back and expressed a lot of anger at Dream for hurting the kid. Months later, after Dream's escape from prison, Quackity deliberately seeks Tommy out to help him cope with it, trying to calm him down and giving him obsidian and yellow concrete to fortify his house (as a reminder of L'Manburg).
- Big Damn Heroes : Quackity showed up to the Red Banquet just in time to save the guests from the Eggpire. Or, well, the guests excluding Foolish .
- Bilingual Bonus : Quackity occasionally speaks Spanish, and gives things Spanish names at Wilbur and Tommy's request. They're mostly swear words.
- Black Cloak : He is all but outright stated to be one of the mysterious figures wearing these at the end of his second "Las Nevadas" stream.
- Black Comedy Cannibalism : He eats Schlatt's heart during the latter's funeral , and considering how much Schlatt is hated by everyone else , no one really calls him out on it.
- Blood Is the New Black : At the end of his March 16th stream, after his first visit to Dream in Pandora's Vault, he is seen splattered with blood as he leaves.
- Body Motifs : The heart, albeit in more of a metaphorical sense. Quackity's main arcs and character development are closely tied with his relationships (romantic or otherwise) and how they form, develop and fracture, and a struggle between caring for others or closing himself off to prevent more heartbreak and hurt, becoming crueler (or should we say, more heartless ) in the latter process. Oh, and he quite literally ate his abusive ex's heart.
- Born Unlucky : Throughout his time on the server, Quackity has seemingly taken nothing but Ls , from his political campaigns to his many, many failed romances . Played for Drama as this goes hand in hand with a Trauma Conga Line that ultimately caused him to snap. He himself acknowledges this in a conversation with Slime in the fourth "Las Nevadas" stream, and Wilbur too lampshades it in calling Quackity a "walking second place medal" [ sic ] in The Wilbur Van . Quackity: You know, from the moment I joined this place, I've never really been lucky. I've never... I've never been fortunate with many things. And when I find an opportunity I will take it, and the way that opportunity presented itself to me was by making my own luck .
- During the Butcher Army's attack on Technoblade, after two members of the group have been non-canonically killed in the fight, Quackity rushes off and holds Techno's prized horse hostage to make him go along with them. Not only does this work, but the only reason it technically fails is because Techno himself cheated death with a Totem of Undying. After Techno escapes from his failed execution, Quackity tracks him down and duels him to the death. Granted, he lost, but in his defense, this is Technoblade we're talking about here.
- In his May 22nd stream, he repeatedly trash talks Foolish, a Physical God , to his face, and blows up Purpled's UFO, both of whom are known to be very capable in a fight and could easily kill him where he stood, especially since he himself isn't very good at PVP. Instead, he talks his way out of getting killed and tries to convince them to join Las Nevadas. Call it what you will , but it takes solid steel balls to be able to survive doing such a thing .
- Break the Comedian : He is often seen as a goofy Cloud Cuckoo Lander in many of his appearances, but is also, for the most part, deadly serious throughout the Las Nevadas arc, which delves deep into his trauma, motivations, and ambitions.
- Broken Bird : Male example that is deconstructed . Quackity starts showing shades of this after crossing the Despair Event Horizon at the end of a long Trauma Conga Line , and turns to a mixture of extreme cynicism and a bit of I Hate Past Me in the Las Nevadas arc. However, in spite of trying to appear competent and stoic, his more emotional and impulsive nature still shines through, and he tends to have Psychological Projection on half the people he encounters... and still carries an obvious soft spot for various characters, like Tommy, Tubbo and Slime, the latter of whom implicitly encourages him to pull away from the broken mindset. Following Slime's first canon death and his own second canon death, Quackity finally starts moving on to a less destructive path towards healing . Oh, and bonus points for the animal symbolism.
- Bunny-Ears Lawyer : In a more literal example of this trope, Quackity is a law student in real life, and is often called upon whenever the legal system comes into play. Despite his silly demeanor, he's a very competent lawyer and negotiator, though he doesn't officially hold the title yet.
- But Not Too Bi : Sort of. Quackity has claimed to have experienced attraction to women, to the point one of his VODs is straight-up titled "Quackity Finds a Minecraft GF in The Dream SMP", except none of the canonical characters that he has had onscreen romantic(?) relations (both in dubious and concrete canon) with are women. The gender imbalance on the DSMP and the fact that all of the women on the server are not interested in romantic relationships (or are dating each other ) probably don't help at all.
- Byronic Hero : Probably the most apt description for him in his "Las Nevadas" arc, as by that point, he manages to check off all the criteria for the most part. Silver-tongued, perceptive, and utterly jaded and traumatized as a result of a past rife with abuse and heartbreak (on top of being one of the few characters confirmed to have pre-canon trauma). One of the major reasons for creating Las Nevadas was for him to prove those who doubted or opposed him wrong while carving out a space to keep himself and his loved ones safe in the Crapsack World where they live, running on the duality of spite and love.
- On November 16th, Quackity is the first to put two and two together and realize that Wilbur had left the group to blow up L'Manburg and tries to warn everyone, but is ignored amidst the chaos. Ten seconds later, Wilbur presses the button, and everything goes to shit.
- He is also among the first people to realize that Dream was the root of most of the conflicts on the server, while most other people, more often than not, ended up falling for Dream's manipulations. note This is demonstrated as early as the El Rapids independence movement — after he asks to speak to Eret about the matter since he's the King, Eret accuses Quackity of terrorism, to which Quackity responds by asking whether that was their own opinion or Dream's, as Dream had been saying that just before the conversation. It took the Doomsday War for several server members to realize that Quackity was being truthful about Dream all along, and even then, many were disillusioned by the war and decided to go their own route instead of working with Quackity's proposed plan of diplomacy to take down Dream. He eventually lampshades this several times . Quackity: I've been telling everyone that [Dream]'s bad all fucking along and no one goddamn believed me!
- Character Development : Even after his massive spiral , in the weeks after Slime's canon death, Quackity seems to be starting to pull himself out of the spiral and acknowledging how it has hurt him, and advises Tommy not to go down that path. However, it still takes Slime/Charlie actively calling him out for him to truly start embarking on a path of forgiveness and redemption.
- Chekhov's Gun : He secretly passes Puffy a netherite axe during his speech at the Red Banquet, which Puffy eventually uses to kill Antfrost to avenge her son, Foolish.
- He has a tendency to act extremely strangely, such as speaking in silly accents, trying to sell 'drugs' to people, adopting one of his many weird alternate personalities, and stripping down to his underwear any chance he gets. His idea of couple's therapy is essentially a divorce court where he decides whether the couple should stay together or break up.
- Before his first appearance on the SMP, Quackity once suggested that Tommy start a monopoly over transportation on the server by building a minecart highway (the idea only starts getting weirder from there), Tommy's chat reacts to him just as well as any normal person would react . Tommy: (laughing) Sorry, someone just said in all caps, " THIS MAN IS INSANE , DO NOT LISTEN TO HIM".
- Cloudcuckoolander's Minder : Ironically, he becomes this to KSI in his first visit, where he was still relearning the game, and Slimecicle, who doesn't know much about human society and accidentally gets himself addicted to gambling.
- The Cobbler's Children Have No Shoes : Though the livestream where it happened is ambiguously canon at best, it's ironic that Quackity was once a relationship therapist (albeit one with unorthodox ideas about how couple's therapy works), but also happens to have a relatively large number of failed relationships under his belt, whether the relationship be souring before or after the breakup.
- Cold-Blooded Torture : He inflicts this on Dream over the course of about two months in Pandora's Vault using various implements like Sam's Warden's weapons, a pair of shears, and potatoes; while his motive begins with obtaining the revive-book, it shifts towards some combination of revenge, catharsis, and lashing out by the tail end. It's argued that the only reason he hasn't crossed the line by this point is because Dream is an authoritarian, child-abusing serial killer, and an all-round terrible person who makes Quackity still look good by comparison.
- Compulsive Liar : Purpled accuses Quackity of lying "to everyone" in the "Las Nevadas" finale. It's not actually true , but it's understandable for Purpled to assume so when most of what Quackity speaks of is Psychological Projection of his own personal experiences.
- Corrupt Corporate Executive : Can arguably considered this as the mastermind behind Las Nevadas, through copious amounts of manipulation and debts. It's heavily implied to stem from a coping mechanism to win back power and control in his life... though the manipulation part only comes into prominence after he snaps .
- Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass : While he usually acts like a goofy Cloud Cuckoo Lander , he is also the only person on the server who has ever had Technoblade and Dream at his mercy . Even without his corruption arc, Quackity still shows himself to be very capable at word-sparring with a courageous streak.
- Cruel and Unusual Death : Getting a pickaxe to the face to the point of post-respawning disability isn't exactly a good way to go out. In fact, it motivated him to hold a months-long grudge on Techno to the point of attempting to kill him in the same way, as if it were a twisted form of poetic justice .
- Cruel to Be Kind : Heavily implied in his "Las Nevadas" arc, Played for Drama , and ultimately deconstructed . Quackity, at least in the darkest parts of his spiral, seemed to view various events in his life as "lessons" to be learnt, e.g. not to trust others or to create emotional attachment, instead of genuinely traumatic events that no one should have to go through (or would have gone through if the DSMP weren't a Crapsack World to begin with). As a result of this, he shows this mentality in his third "Las Nevadas" stream and Tina's introduction to the server, rather aggressively projecting these "lessons" onto others in a Silly Rabbit, Idealism Is for Kids! sort of way, likely thinking it would spare others from the Trauma Conga Line he had gone through to "learn" those "lessons". For the most part, this is shown as a negative mentality to demonstrate the degree Quackity's fallen, and all of this ends up making his victims, for lack of a better word, either concerned for him and his mental well-being (e.g. Foolish and Slime/Charlie), question this mentality and his morality (e.g. Tina), or plot revenge against him (e.g. Purpled). Quackity did later admit some of those courses of action were pretty fucked up and apologized for doing so, but... let's just say Purpled does not forgive easily... and neither does Slime who does not hold back when verbally throwing all of Quackity's lessons back in his face before taking his second life.
- Dark Mistress : Gender-Inverted Trope which is also deconstructed and ultimately subverted . During the early half of the Manburg era, Quackity had some form of relationship with Schlatt (usually said to be an engagement, though some fans claim it was a full-on marriage). However, Schlatt was a Hate Sink character who continuously mistreated him, ultimately causing his defection to Pogtopia halfway through the arc. Plus, Quackity's perspective in Manburg is livestreamed, making him far from a Satellite Character, though given how great Schlatt's presence is, Quackity's overall role pre- Heel–Face Turn was still primarily supporting.
- Defrosting Ice King : Despite claiming to not trust anyone and initially taking Slime in to use him, Quackity eventually begins to care for Slime, choosing him over anyone else to take under his wing to teach all the lessons he's learned from his time on the server. It's also Slime who starts Quackity back on a pending redemption arc, by pointing out the flaws in his cynical perspective and ultimately calling him out for his hypocrisy and all-round moral corruption.
- Dehumanizing Insult : Allegedly. According to Tommy, prior to Quackity's defection from Manburg, people in Pogtopia called him "Schlatt's B", short for "Schlatt's bitch ". Quackity was understandably angered when he heard about this.
- Quackity narrowly subverts this at the start of the Doomsday War by pulling himself out of a Heroic BSoD and ultimately returning to fight for L'Manburg against Dream due to being inspired by the contents of Ranboo's memory book note Dream previously stole it from Ranboo to use it as incriminating evidence against him as a traitor for L'Manburg during the Green Festival, and the book ended up in Quackity's possession around that time .
- Heavily implied to have reached it between his second and first "Las Nevadas" stream after being (unintentionally) abandoned by his loved ones, fully cementing himself to have taken a level in cynic . This is further reinforced by his third stream in the series, judging by how he is seen straight-up spiralling down into what is arguably villainy.
- Played for Drama , in a sense. Quackity's desire to belong has contributed to many of his character arcs, from his wish to become a part of L'Manburg before the Election Arc, to everything he did as part of the country, to arguably his various romantic exploits. It doesn't become prominent until the Las Nevadas arc... which isn't all that surprising, since the arc got kick-started by him being unintentionally abandoned by his loved ones. It eventually culminates with Quackity suppressing his own empathy to try to gain the respect and security he's wanted all this time.
- This might also be implicated through, among other examples, an ambiguously-canon bit during the Election VOD, here Quackity picks up a piece of pink wool that says " You matter ♡ – Eret ", and is stunned for a few moments, then immediately declares that he thinks he's in love. This results in a hasty 'marriage subplot' that ends rather poorly. In the same VOD, he also talks about how he fell in love with a girl after she looked at him a couple of days before the election...
- Determinator : Things rarely seem to go well for Quackity, but he does not let that stop him from getting up and trying again to reach his goals. Shown best when he spent weeks trying to find ways to help Slime/Charlie after dying to lava left him in a vegetative state. Quackity spent a lot of time holed up in a library studying everything he could find about slimes even at the cost of his own well-being and knowing that Techno could be coming after him at any moment.
- Did You Just Flip Off Cthulhu? : He calls Foolish an Empty Shell to his face and tells him that he purposefully let him die during the Red Banquet. He lives.
- Disney Villain Death : His Las Nevadas spiral arc ends with Charlie knocking him off of the balcony of the country's hotel after calling him out for being a douchebag and ruining both his own life and others' . His final moments recount him admitting that the path of revenge isn't worth it.
- The Dragon : Formed a coalition with Jschlatt following the election, and was this, albeit a Friendly Enemy , up until his defection to Pogtopia.
- Early-Bird Cameo : Quackity was on several voice calls with Tommy in the week or two leading up to his debut appearance on the SMP, which may have involved him helping to start The Cartel to steal all the phantom membranes on the server after Dream disabled the spawning of phantoms.
- Emoticon : The ":]" smiley face seen on the face of his Minecraft skin, most prominently used during the Las Nevadas arc in a similar vein to a Calling Card .
- The reason Quackity joined Pogtopia was to get rid of Schlatt.
- He later does this again with Technoblade in order to get rid of the Eggpire and save the people about to be killed by them.
- When Jschlatt seals Tubbo in concrete and demands his execution, Quackity is appalled , claiming that Tubbo being trapped is punishment enough and that killing him would be too much.
- During the September 14th lore flood of 2021 , Sam tells Quackity to kill the dog they spotted in the maximum security cell of Pandora's Vault with Techno and Dream. Even if he's willing to stoop to torture, Quackity refuses to do so, saying he wasn't gonna kill "a puppy", and later even seems to get a little attached to the dog.
- Exact Words : While he isn't allowed to kill Dream while he's in Pandora's Vault, it doesn't mean he can't make Dream's life a living hell until he caves in and gives him the knowledge on how to resurrect people.
- Extreme Doormat : In Season 1, this is a Zig-Zagging Trope . Quackity was often unwilling to act when he knew there was an oppressive power structure or to call out people who hurt him, but he also showed multiple instances of passive resistance (e.g. freeing Niki from imprisonment and calling Schlatt a dictator at the Manburg Festival) up until his actual defection to Pogtopia. Fully averted in Season 2 and onward, where his trauma responses included him growing a spine .
- Eye Scream : He is partially blind in his left eye, which is a result of his first canon death, where Technoblade puts a pickaxe through his teeth .
- Fallen Hero : He becomes arguably a Type 1 after his months-long Trauma Conga Line , becoming disillusioned with idealism and falling back onto He Who Fights Monsters hard .
- Fatal Flaw : His internalized belief that trauma makes one stronger and his resultant Psychological Projection of this onto others. It's most prominently seen at his lowest point during his "Las Nevadas" arc, when that projection drives him to perform Cruel to Be Kind acts in recruiting others for his country, and before that, to go out on Revenge Before Reason rampages against those he considers enemies. This ultimately even gets him killed in the end, as Purpled holds a mean grudge against him for one of said Cruel to Be Kind -intended actions, which drives half of the plotline for the last two "Las Nevadas" livestreams.
- The First Cut Is the Deepest : In a weird, twisted way . After Schlatt drops dead at the end of Season 1, Quackity gets into a polyamorous relationship with Karl and Sapnap like nothing ever happened the very next day and gets along with them very well... except it is heavily implied later on that he steamrolled over his trauma and insecurities from his previous relationship, and when some miscommunication leads to accidental abandonment several months into the relationship, Quackity's unresolved relationship trauma gets triggered to the point that he starts jumping to conclusions, and that is when the shit hit the fan .
- Tommy is the first known person to have referred to Quackity as "Alex", which is his real-life given name, during some of their cartel hijinks before Quackity actually first joined the SMP . However, Tommy usually sticks to calling Quackity by either that or his nickname for him, "Big Q".
- After Quackity's defection to Pogtopia, Schlatt started calling him "Alex" . It should be noted that Schlatt is the only person on the server to address him with his first name on a semi-regular basis.
- Wilbur also refers to Quackity by his real life name while covering "I'm in Love with an E-girl" for him during Niki's birthday stream.
- When they were on better terms, Karl would refer to Quackity with his real name fairly often.
- Five Stages of Grief : Quackity manages to go through about four of the five stages upon first learning about Kinoko Kingdom from George. It's heavily implied that he managed to go without the Anger phase, or at least had it delayed greatly, due to his own insecurities induced by past relationship trauma.
- To Techno. Both have their own beliefs on what is the best for the people and a very strong determination to help, but their ideology and characteristics are opposites of each other. Quackity is not a strong combatant, but he is very good at controlling conversations and convincing people to support his point of view, while Techno prefers to use action to showcase his own beliefs, valuing acts over words. Quackity believes that ensuring absolute order and security is the only way of having a civilized world, however corrupt it may be; whereas Techno believes that anarchy will lead to a more peaceful world, as he sees governments to be inherently evil, and freedom and equality of the people impossible to achieve under an absolute order.
- To Tommy. While both of them are determined to achieve their goals, share a hatred towards Dream, and have broadly good intentions for the server, Quackity is power-hungry in that he wants the knowledge of resurrection for himself and vengeful towards Dream for his misdeeds. Meanwhile, Tommy believes having the knowledge to resurrect others gives people too much power and thus wants to have the knowledge destroyed, as well as wanting to move on and get closure with Dream so he can properly heal. It also helps that both of them were frequently placed in powerless positions on the server, but developed contrasting opinions on power because of their history. Furthermore, while Tommy had a Heel Realization about the kind of person he was becoming in his pursuit of the discs and chose to be better, Quackity is aware that the person he has become is not a good one, yet continues to follow the same path Wilbur did in his desperate attempt to achieve his goals. However, Charlie's influence would later lead to Quackity re-evaulating himself and his actions, later advising Tommy to not fall down the dark path he himself had undergone.
- To Dream. Both men are very manipulative and good at controlling arguments, with Quackity often being able to keep up Dream in verbal confrontations (though when it comes to actual fights, Dream is leagues better). Both aren't afraid of doing horrible things to get what they want, such as Dream threatening to kill Tubbo in order to control Tommy and eventually killing Tommy to prove he can revive the dead, and Quackity torturing Dream for the knowledge on how to resurrect people. At the same time, like Dream, Quackity isn't afraid to manipulate those close to him, he's easily able to put aside personal feelings when it comes to business as shown when he manipulated Awesamdude by striking at his guilt over Tommy's death, and later with him targeting Fundy's insecurities to convince him to join Las Nevadas. However, Dream believes that force is the ultimate method to controlling the server, while Quackity relies much more on forcing people into relying on him; Dream was once attached to his friends, but ultimately cuts off the attachments in order to keep himself from being controlled, while Quackity openly cares for his friends and gets easily attached to his builds, and is deeply sentimental even when hiding it. Morever, in terms of manipulation itself, Dream more often than not does it For the Evulz and outright lies many times, while Quackity genuinely believes in the beliefs he speaks of, especially in the Las Nevadas arc, and is heavily implied to be projecting his own trauma and insecurities through it. Interestingly, they also both are associated with smiley-face emoticons, albeit slightly different ones (":]" for Quackity, ":)" for Dream).
- To Schlatt, his ex, especially during the Las Nevadas arc . Both are ruthless and willing to manipulate others to achieve their ends, and their respective behaviour is usually seen as morally questionable at best or outright unethical, immoral, and villainous at worst. Both have also made a statement along the lines that they would/will die alongside the country they rule over. However, regarding their respective statements, Schlatt said that Manburg would go down with him if he died, being arrogant enough to claim that the entirety of the country depended on him; while Quackity's claim was that if Las Nevadas were to die, he would die along with it and not vice versa (like Schlatt), because he's despondent and insecure to the point of tying the crumbled remnants of his self-worth to Las Nevadas, which is seen as his last chance for success, and if it fails, he will have lost everything and won't be able to come back from it. Schlatt's backstory and reason for villainy is canonically unknown, yet Quackity's idealist-to-cynic Trauma Conga Line (including Schlatt and his actions , who he opposed and dislikes to this day) is shown in full force, making him far more sympathetic than the Hate Sink that Schlatt was.
- To Tubbo, his introverted fellow former cabinet member in Manberg and New L'Manberg. Their poor experiences under Schlatt changed them both in big ways — Tubbo tried very hard to not be the man Schlatt was and tried to do anything to avoid big conflicts even if it meant letting other people, like Dream, taking advantage of his pacifistic nature; Quackity, however, can't stand seeing people abuse their power over those without it and is quick to go on the offensive, even if it'll cause backlash. While both men are very smart, Tubbo is better at controlling his emotions and makes decisions based on logic, which tends to make him come across as cold or blunt, while Quackity is often driven by his emotions, sometimes acting rashly in the heat of the moment, especially in stressful situations . Tubbo is more passive and sometimes forgiving to a concerning degree, while Quackity is more aggressive and his inability to let go of grudges tends to hurt him in the end. Both have bad issues with bottling up their trauma , leading to Tubbo suffering silently and Quackity projecting his issues onto others . Both were canonically killed by Technoblade, leaving them with facial scars and enough psychological trauma to last a lifetime , but in Tubbo's case it was during his own execution, while in Quackity's, it was during what was supposed to be Techno's execution. Both have also emulated methods used against them — Tubbo's nukes can be seen as a more extreme version of Techno and Phil's withers; while Quackity increasingly relies on more violent methods and tried to kill Techno the same way Techno killed him , once again with Tubbo being more defensive contrasting Quackity's more aggressive nature.
- Forgets to Eat : Especially during Season 1, many of Quackity's non-canon deaths can be partially attributed to him taking damage, then forgetting to eat to heal up, then taking more damage to the point of dying (non-canonically, obviously). This isn't acknowledged in canon much, so there is no canonical given reason for this.
- Friendly Enemy : Even as Schlatt's VP, Quackity was still on good terms with the members of Pogtopia. He helped Niki escape from captivity after she was imprisoned; and he didn't rat out the location of the Underground Prime Path leading directly to Pogtopia to Schlatt after Tommy showed him where it was, though it isn't confirmed whether Tommy bribing him with drugs when he first discovered it has anything to do with it.
- From Nobody to Nightmare : While he definitely wasn't nobody , it is still jarring to witness this goofy well-intentioned politician who was simply on the wrong side become a ruthless manipulative cold-hearted businessman capable of Cold-Blooded Torture , who arguably pushes the closest to the line without crossing it on the server. Quackity even almost plays the trope literally, given his nightmarish presence in Fundy's dreams.
- Full-Frontal Assault : Downplayed . He shows up to the final battle of Season 2 wearing nothing but a pair of booty shorts and diamond yeezys.
- The Gadfly : He tells KSI that Bad communicated through swear words. Needless to say, Hilarity Ensues when the two meet.
- The Gambler : He plays into this during his Las Nevadas arc, being a cunning, manipulative man who takes high risks for high rewards, and is associated with poker to boot.
- Genius Ditz : Quackity is a very goofy fellow, but he's shown a surprising amount of skill when it comes to arguing and discussion. He is very good at controlling conversations and convincing people to support his point of view.
- Hates Being Alone : It has been hinted , mainly in the Las Nevadas arc, that Quackity has some abandonment issues stemming from his previous traumas. Quackity: I take care of those who take care of me… why do you think I have no one around? Put two and two together, Foolish .
- Heel–Face Revolving Door : Throughout the Election VOD and all of the early Manburg era in general, Quackity's allegiance of being supportive towards and against Manburg and Schlatt's reign seems to flip-flop depending on the moment. For example, one time Niki confronted him about how Schlatt changed the country and would take everything away from them, Quackity's apparent allegiance changes at least 3 times in 5 minutes alone — initially defending how it was legal under the Constitution for Schlatt to change the country's name to Manburg, then lamenting that he was trying to be the moral but ultimately powerless voice of reason, and then switching to alerting Schlatt of their location in Ze Haus where they had the conversation and ordering to have Niki arrested after she accidentally killed him (non-canonically), and then freeing her from imprisonment in secret after Schlatt said his reason for doing so was because he (Schlatt) found it funny.
- Heel–Face Turn : After having dealt with Schlatt's tyrannical rule for so long, Schlatt's decision to tear down the White House was what caused him to finally join Pogtopia.
- Quackity is usually very silly and light-hearted, often doing chaotic things just because he feels like it. However, when the situation calls for it, Quackity can be very serious, refusing to back down even against people like Dream if it means standing up for what he sees as right.
- Quackity can also be surprisingly menacing when pissed off despite his lack of combat prowess . He has shown a very vengeful and dangerous side of his personality towards Dream and Technoblade that typically goes unseen because of his usual comical demeanor.
- Other than having a surprisingly courageous side, Quackity also seems to be very good at keeping secrets. This is best exemplified with his prized pet skeleton horse, Ossium, whose existence Quackity kept a secret and only trusted his location with those he really cares about (prior to the Las Nevadas arc). When Tommy and Tubbo descend down into Dream's Hall of Attachments in the Season 2 finale, it should be noted that there is no spot for Ossium (then named "boner") among the attachments Dream is planning to collect as blackmail material, implying that not even Dream knows about the horse's existence despite knowing about other people's most prized possessions.
- Quackity claims to still be torturing Dream as a reminder of all the horrible things Dream has done to the server… while doing those exact same things himself. Dream killed people? Quackity admitted that he let Foolish die at the Red Banquet because he thought it would make Foolish more useful to him. Dream destroyed people's homes? Quackity blew up Purpled's UFO to try and pressure him into joining Las Nevadas. Dream manipulated people? Quackity does the exact same thing with Foolish, Slimecicle, Purpled, Fundy, and Sam. Even Dream's physical and psychological abuse of Tommy is comparable to Quackity's continued torture of Dream that has stopped being about the revival book a long time ago , and is on some way for Quackity's amusement (echoing Dream's insistence that he hurts Tommy because he thinks it's fun ), though also as a twisted form of revenge for his crimes against the server.
- Quackity destroying Purpled's UFO and throwing demeaning words towards Foolish's desert builds become very chilling when you remember that his final straw with Schlatt was the destruction of the White House and how he felt like that build and similar builds like the Camarvan had meaning because of the memories associated with them. It's even implied that he's acutely aware of this, given he said this to Purpled after doing the former: Quackity: If you woke up and decided you wanted to kill me for doing that to you, I would understand it.
- Despite claiming that there was no room for emotions in Las Nevadas, almost all of the decisions Quackity makes while leading the faction are based on pure emotional instinct . There's also the fact that he initially built the faction for his loved ones to begin with.
- Linked with the above, Quackity 'teaches' Slime in his November 27th stream to not hold attachment, yet shows zero hesitation in jumping down into a lava pit to try and save Slime , and proceeds to spend the next several weeks grieving. Yeah, he totally had no emotions or attachment to anything or anyone .
- Heavily implied throughout his May 22nd stream, as he talks down Foolish for believing in diplomacy and the good in the world … beliefs that he himself once held, but is now disillusioned to .
- It's further implicated by Quackity telling Slime that he reminds him of his past self and that's why he wants to take him in as his protégé and teach him the lessons he's learned. Some of those lessons are based on what Quackity views as mistakes he has made in the past, such as trusting others, having attachments , failing to successfully get revenge, etc.
- I Just Want to Be Loved : Quackity's primary motivation is a desire to belong, which, in many cases, relates to forming relationships (either platonic and romantic) with others. This is eventually deconstructed when months' worth of trauma involving him being pushed aside, seen as worthless, abandoned, and left out (including one nasty case of relationship trauma) eventually come crashing down on him, leaving an embittered and heartbroken Quackity to spiral into a corruption arc.
- Icarus Allusion : In a New L'Manburg era stream, Techno offhandedly tells Quackity that he's "flying a little bit too close to the sun" for his alleged overconfidence. And then came the Las Nevadas arc. His ultimate second canon death by falling doesn't help at all. Neither does the fact that he is seen flying with a pair of wings in the third Las Nevadas episode.
- I'll Kill You! : He tells Techno this before duelling him in the Final Control Room… with predictably poor results.
- Improperly Paranoid : When informed about Kinoko by George, Quackity jumps to the conclusion that he was left behind by his fiancés on purpose, a fear likely founded from his past poor relationships. When Sapnap later comes to Las Nevadas, he invites Quackity to visit Kinoko and while he is very hesitant at first eventually relents, still calling it a bad idea. It starts off well until Karl shows up calling Quackity a murderer, blaming him for his first death despite it being planned; the two quickly launch into an full-blown argument until Quackity has enough and decides to leave feeling as though he was right to assume Karl did not want him around on purpose... however, where this trope comes into play is that in truth, Karl's memories have been severely distorted as a consequence of his time-traveling, he did not mean to leave Quackity behind in the first place and his positive memories of his fiancé have seemingly all been eroded.
- Informed Attractiveness : Several other characters have claimed attraction to Quackity for being good-looking (to the point that Schlatt claimed that his official role in Manberg was to be Mr. Fanservice ), but his in-game appearance is... not exactly the epitome of beauty for a Minecraft skin. However, it's also implied that the content creators' appearance may carry across to their characters, so this might be the case for him (as cc!Quackity has been considered to be on the pretty side by not just many fans, but a few content creators as well).
- Insecure Love Interest : Implied to have felt this way during his second lore stream. Upon learning about Kinoko Kingdom, Quackity is quick to (incorrectly) assume his fiancés (and friend George) abandoned him, and reasons to himself that it makes sense that they would leave.
- It's All My Fault : He owns up to the fact that Schlatt winning the election is very much his fault and he regrets what happened because of it.
- One of the reasons he went after Technoblade as the de facto leader of the Butcher Army was to get revenge for traumatizing him during Minecraft Mondays.
- His lingering resentment and grudge towards Techno after the Butcher Army incident was because Techno canonically killed him during the incident, to the point he was willing to re-enact the death sequence in Pandora's Vault with the roles reversed. The only reason Techno didn't end up with a pickaxe in the face was because Phil managed to teleport him out just in time. Quackity: Technoblade, I'm gonna tell you one thing. One thing I went through was death. When you killed me, you think I was just gonna forget about it? Think I was... Techno: I mean , yeah, kinda . Quackity: ...just gonna walk away– you think I was just gonna walk away and forget about it? Techno: That was the hope, yeah. Quackity: I'll tell you something, Techno, I'll tell you something, alright? In the same way you did it – (switches to a diamond pickaxe and chuckles ) I have a pickaxe . Techno: Oh, wait... OH, WAIT ... WHA-WHAT? HOLD ON! Quackity: And I'll put it. THROUGH YOUR FUCKING TEETH, TECHNO! I'LL PUT IT THROUGH YOUR FU– Techno: (runs away from Quackity) HOLD ON! NONONO – (is teleported out using the Ender Pearl Stasis Chamber ; disappears from the cell)
- He started out as an optimistic budding politician who believed there was good in everyone when he ran against Wilbur in the L'Manburg Election. During that time, Wilbur, who was already spiraling mentally , gave him some advice on how violence was the key to power on the server, and that the only way to truly help people is to become a Well-Intentioned Extremist . Seven months and many traumatic events later, Quackity embraces Wilbur's mentality but swears to not make the same mistakes Wilbur did.
- Ultimately this becomes somewhat deconstructed . After having his old idealism shattered, Quackity went down a dark road that gradually lead to him becoming crueler as a person, teaching people 'lessons' under the mindset that he was helping them come to the same realizations he had and manipulating them to work for him. However, Slime would later cause Quackity to question this mindset and later Purpled would betray Quackity because of the destruction of his home, which would never have happened had Quackity been more kind in his recruitment methods, further showing the flaws in Quackity's overly cynical outlook.
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold : Quackity doesn't hold back his tongue towards those he dislikes and he enjoys getting under their skin, even when it would be better to keep his mouth shut. It's also not uncommon for him to snap at friends or allies during stressful situations. However, deep down, Quackity does care a lot for others and, most of the time, just wants the best for them. This can be seen especially well during Season 1 where he would at times join in on Schlatt's bullying towards the other cabinet members or citizens, but he would also be helpful or try to stick up for them, essentially going through a Heel–Face Revolving Door before his ultimate defection. In later seasons, that heart of gold would become more hidden , but it is still there, buried under copious amounts of maladaptive coping mechanisms.
- Jump Scare : At the end of his stream where he tortures Dream and takes down the ruins of El Rapids, it suddenly cuts to a live-action calendar with "Visit Dream" written on every single date (up until April 17th) on top of a table, complete with a briefcase of chips being loudly tossed onto the table.
- The Kingslayer : He assassinates Schlatt, the Emperor/President of Manburg, while escaping the country after his resignation as Vice President, resulting in the loss of Schlatt's second canon life.
- He's harshly called out Dream twice to the man's face for constantly involving himself in situations that don't directly concern him and for escalating things instead of letting other people handle it for themselves.
- He also calls out the Eggpire on their misdeeds during the Red Banquet after gatecrashing it .
- Knight Templar Big Brother : He cares about the more underprivileged members of the server, mainly the younger members , and has resorted to rather extreme measures to take revenge against those who have hurt them, most notably Dream. This includes forming the Butcher Army after Tommy's exile, and making plans to torture Dream for weeks on end after listening to Tommy vent to him about what happened to him in the prison, even if his personal interests do play a role in his actions in the latter incident. The latter incident is further implicated by the fact that a potato , the very same item Dream used to give Tommy a No-Holds-Barred Beatdown , is seen among the many torture implements Quackity has used on Dream during the montage at the beginning of the April 12th stream.
- Legacy Seeker : Over time, Quackity eventually develops a desire to leave behind a legacy by the Las Nevadas arc, to the point this is what he teaches Slime in the 12th and final week of the "Lessons". The reason behind this is never explicitly stated, but there are implications that it has something to do with him being overlooked, disregarded, and 'abandoned' over months of trauma. Quackity: Legacy is all you leave behind in this world. (looks at Las Nevadas and turns to Slime) Look at this place. Look at all these places. When you die, the only thing you leave behind is what you did in this life... and, for me, I haven't kept friends, my enemies will eventually move on to something else... I think... my legacy is Las Nevadas, and that's why I care for it so much. Legacy is all you leave behind. Slime: (quietly) Okay. Let's leave behind a good one.
- Limited Wardrobe : During the Las Nevadas arc, he is consistently seen wearing a shirt, suspenders, and trousers. This wouldn't be anything noteworthy in usual cases (because clothing is often part of a Minecraft skin), except Fundy felt the need to specifically point out Quackity has 17 of the same suits in his closet.
- Looking for Love in All the Wrong Places : Quackity has had little luck with love. He's been engaged multiple times but not once actually married. His relationship with Schlatt was very volatile and ended with Schlatt dying, and he once asked Technoblade out on a date, causing the warrior to awkwardly flee . He's currently in a polyamorous relationship with Sapnap and Karl... one that is currently crashing and burning due to a lack of communication and unresolved mental health problems.
- Love Hurts : Quackity is a frequent victim of this trope, as many of his past relationships have utterly failed to work out , or ended badly. Most notably, his past abusive relationship with Schlatt still traumatizes him to this day, and when he finally got into a somewhat stable relationship (for once) with Karl and Sapnap, Karl forgetting to tell him about Kinoko Kingdom due to his memory problems, and thus unintentionally abandoning him and his plans for El Rapids and Las Nevadas (which was built for them ) is the last straw that finally pushed him over the edge to follow in Wilbur's footsteps.
- Love Makes You Evil : Kind of, even if 'evil' is a strong word, as Quackity's snapping point to be driven down a spiral turns out to be being forgotten to be invited to his fiancés' new faction. Despite how petty it sounds on the surface without context, the backstory behind it is much more complicated... one involving copious amounts of trauma (including relationship trauma), amnesia, miscommunication, and Innocence Lost .
- In the aftermath of Schlatt's inauguration, Quackity revealed in a private monologue that he thought Schlatt's actions during the inauguration (e.g. exiling the opposition) was going too far, but he wanted to stay and be the "voice of reason" to the cabinet Schlatt ran, in an attempt to do some good for the country. His stay only results in him being subjected to a nasty heaping of abuse and trauma and leaves him heavily disillusioned, ending with him outright assassinating Schlatt and fleeing into the woods.
- He briefly considers returning to Manburg even after that , but his contemplation is interrupted with Tommy confronting him (after eavesdropping on the whole fight) and recruiting him to join Pogtopia... and while he does a Heel–Face Turn in the process, his idealism had essentially already been stomped out by that point .
- Man Bites Man : In "Hitting on 16", Quackity bites Wilbur in the arm while they are fighting.
- During the March 16th lore stream, Quackity plays into Sam's fears and regret for indirectly causing Tommy's death, thus convincing Sam into allowing him to enter the prison without signing the waivers and while bringing overpowered weapons into the cells. This is futureshadowed with the fact that Sam had previously confided in Quackity that he thought Tommy's death was his fault , but this is only revealed in the April 12th prequel stream.
- His manipulative side comes out in full force in his May 22nd stream, where he tries to convince Foolish, Slimecicle, Purpled, and Fundy to join Las Nevadas through... less than honorable tactics, with promises of preserved "legacies" and a meaning to their lives while also calling Foolish's holiday home next to worthless, taking advantage of Slimecicle's naïvety, blowing up Purpled's UFO, and threatening Fundy with being forgotten by history like L'Manburg. It is all but outright stated that he is psychologically projecting his issues on them throughout the whole thing.
- Minor Insult Meltdown : He does not appreciate being called a "flatty patty". Justified in his case, because it's one of his Trauma Buttons .
- Mirror Character : With Wilbur , both as this and as a foil . Both of them started out as Wide-Eyed Idealists who are more skilled with words than with weapons and have broadly good intentions for the server, but eventually went through a Trauma Conga Line which caused them to take a level in cynicism and go into a mental spiral to become a Well-Intentioned Extremist . It is heavily implied that Wilbur saw himself in Quackity, then a Naïve Newcomer , during the elections, and therefore advised him that becoming a Well-Intentioned Extremist was the only way to gain power to truly help the people around them , because he didn't want history to repeat itself ; and Quackity's message to Wilbur after the latter's passing indicates that he is consciously deciding to follow in Wilbur's footsteps. It is also all but outright stated by Quackity out-of-universe that his character arc was meant to mirror Wilbur's, and throughout their respective spirals, both of them have low opinions of themselves formed from their respective Trauma Conga Lines (whether it's implied or outright stated) and are highly prone to Psychological Projection onto others. In a lore stream in late May 2021, Wilbur goes as far as to claim that he and Quackity were like yin and yang , which goes to show that Wilbur as a character believes that they are foils to each other. However, Quackity does actively carry out 'violence over diplomacy' thing unlike Wilbur, who just talked the talk but never quite walked the walk (the explosion of Manburg/L'Manburg was not designed to kill anyone but himself, for one); and though both characters' spirals stemmed from trauma, Wilbur's struggle is more closely related to a fear of failure and what contemporaries call "gifted kid burnout", while Quackity's likely stems from relationship trauma, a fear of abandonment and being forgotten, and a desire for a sense of belonging.
- Misery Trigger : Throughout his Las Nevadas arc, any mention of Kinoko Kingdom or its residents cause him to briefly drop his ruthless capitalist façade. However, when Sapnap himself actually shows up to Las Nevadas, Quackity is very evidently happy to see him again.
- Mistreatment-Induced Betrayal : When Jschlatt starts tearing down the White House that Quackity built, Quackity is furious , shooting Jschlatt with his bow and stepping down from his position as the vice president of Manburg. Quackity: (kills Schlatt) Fuck you. Fuck you. I'm out. I'm outta here. I'm fucking outta here, man, go fuck yourself.
- Mr. Fanservice : In-universe. Other than being Vice President of Manburg, this was technically his role in Schlatt's cabinet, as he was told that he "just ha[d] to sit there and have a fat ass" and essentially be Schlatt's trophy fiancé . This eventually becomes Played for Drama when this causes friction between him and Schlatt note (to be more specific, Schlatt started to insult his looks, i.e. implicating that he's worthless) and ultimately culminates into a source of insecurity.
- Multiple-Choice Past : Quackity technically has two possible canonical backstories — the first one being having been to a Juvenile Hell , and the second being Minecraft Mondays and his experiences with Technoblade. The first one appears to be Played for Laughs , but there are implications that the two backstories can coexist (through a few off-handed lines in Quackity's first DSMP stream); regardless of which he actually went through, it's still apparently a Dark and Troubled Past .
- Murder by Inaction : During the Red Banquet, Quackity claimed that he didn't save Foolish from being executed by the Eggpire because he wanted to "teach" Foolish to embrace violence again. Foolish calls him out on this when he learns about it. Foolish: You threw away my life for some kind of fucking sales pitch?!
- Considering how much of a Crapsack World the Dream SMP is, his idealism during the elections didn't last very long .
- He was this during Minecraft Mondays as well. During what is implied to be Week 1, he learnt the hard way that Technoblade's reputation of being The Dreaded is no exaggeration. Quackity: One night before Minecraft Mondays , [Junky Janker and I] got in a call, and we started reading out the list of teams and he said, "Technoblade? And ShotGunRaids ? Those guys are fu– Those guys are fucking monsters! They're awful!" And I was like, I was like, "Dude. Dude, no, they're not, you're– you're exaggerating." To be honest, Techno, I didn't know nothing about you at that point... THEN WE PLAYED MINECRAFT MONDAYS AND, LIKE– YOU RUINED MY FUCKING LIFE .
- Naked People Are Funny : He frequently strips his clothes off (read: his skin) at the most inopportune times.
- Never Be Hurt Again : There have been implications that throughout his Las Nevadas arc, he refuses to show any form of emotional vulnerability so that it can no longer be used against him again.
- Nice Job Breaking It, Hero : His attempt to blow up the Egg during his April 12th stream caused Bad and the rest of the Eggpire to take precautions against using TNT to blow up the Egg again... which caused Sam's back-up plan to destroy the Egg with TNT for the Red Banquet to ultimately fail.
- Noble Top Enforcer : In the Manburg era, although Quackity was the VP to Schlatt and by all means The Dragon , it should be noted that he genuinely wanted (L')Manburg to be a better place and did what he did (e.g. taking part in the Election to make it fair, pooling votes with Schlatt, etc.) in an attempt to bring fairness and justice, and has vocally spoken out against Schlatt on several occasions, most notably at the Manburg Festival. It probably helps that he's just as much of a victim of Schlatt's assholery as everyone else is, if not more so, and this is what drives him to make a Heel–Face Turn down the line.
- Non-Action Guy : Comparatively speaking, he is far less proficient in PVP than some of his server-mates, and if he challenges them to a fight, he usually loses , to the point that he barely spends the Manburg-Pogtopia War fighting anyone in particular, but rather trying to recover his items after falling to his non-canonical doom twice. His strength, though, lies in his words and wit, which greatly helps him to negotiate with others and/or manipulate them.
- Not Afraid of You Anymore : Quackity claims to no longer be scared of Techno just before trying to overcome his fear and trauma of him ... only for his attempts to be horribly subverted when he's reduced to a screaming wreck the moment Techno actually shows up and kills him on the spot.
- After Tommy's exile, he told Tubbo that he would continue to try to kill Technoblade even if it kills him. He commits to this when fighting Techno, which ultimately results in him losing his first canon life. After Doomsday, he makes it clear that he still feels this way, except his target is now Dream himself instead of Technoblade. Quackity: I don't care if I die, Ranboo. I don't care if I lose all my lives and I just– I'm just gone forever, but if my death can contribute to finally getting rid of Dream, then so be it. That is what I want.
- The fact that one of his first acts as leader of Las Nevadas was to take in a protégé to train only seems to further compound that Quackity has come to terms with his likely demise, so long as Las Nevadas, his legacy, will prosper.
- Obfuscating Insanity : Generally, Quackity acts extremely strange, as his Cloud Cuckoolander entry indicates. However, when he drops the act, he can be a deadly serious master manipulator who is willing to do anything to achieve his goals, up to and including the torture of a prisoner .
- Obfuscating Stupidity : Briefly in the Las Nevadas finale, Quackity sets off the very large amount of fireworks that were supposed to be for the opening ceremony for his country. Foolish returns to Las Nevadas upon seeing them, ready to complain about the waste of resources gone into making those fireworks in the first place... and finds this to be a call for help to unleash the slime army as the country is under attack by its enemies.
- Offing the Offspring : In a highly convoluted way with his destruction of El Rapids (his former faction/country), which he had previously claimed to have given birth to . It Makes Just as Much Sense in Context .
- Old Flame Fizzle : Several months after the man's death, Schlatt's ghost invites Quackity to his cave gym; while they talk, Schlatt often expressed interest in reconnecting with his ex, but Quackity shot him down every time since he doesn't have the fondest memories of him , stressing that any future partnership between them would be strictly business.
- One-Hour Work Week : According to The Wilbur Van , Quackity is somehow able to finish his work by 8 in the morning even though he's, you know, running a country. In spite of this, it's also stated that he does do work (most likely off-screen), judging by Wilbur's description of the casino's administrative offices. Reams and reams of documentation lined the corridors as filing cabinets seemed to be in short supply. Each document was as confusing as it was elaborate, signed off meticulously with Big Q's signature.
- Only Known by Their Nickname : His friends and allies call him "Big Q" or just "Q", one of Tommy's nicknames that wound up sticking.
- Quackity has a habit of cracking jokes and taking off his clothes in stressful situations, to the point where he even showed up to the fight with Dream wearing only his diamond boots. However, when Quackity goes to the Egg-room with Bad and hears the Crimson speaking to him, he books it out of the room, puts both his clothes and his armor back on, then draws a sword, while screaming at Bad to stay the hell away from him.
- Quackity is usually either loud and upbeat or soft-spoken and sinister, and always knows what to say in any given situation. However, when Jack Manifold informs him that Tommy, one of his oldest friends, was murdered by Dream, Quackity is at a complete loss for words. His voice is small and timid when he starts asking when it happened, why Sam didn't step in, and how Dream even managed it with Mining Fatigue, and when he pulls himself together and tells Jack to get back to work on the hotel, he's very obviously choking back tears.
- He wanted L'Manburg's walls to be taken down because they represented the country's refusal to let him be part of the country , as the country only allowed Europeans citizenship at the time, and he didn't want others to be left out and excluded and made to feel unwelcome in the country.
- His opposition of total power can be traced back to his experiences as part of the dictatorial Schlatt administration, as well as recognizing Dream's abuse of power as The Man Behind the Man .
- It can also be inferred that his trying to talk Karl out of siding with Schlatt before the Manburg-Pogtopia War was because he didn't want Karl to be manipulated and used by Schlatt like he himself was. He also believes that the Eggpire, which he strongly opposes, is "working for something that quite frankly doesn't even care about [them]" and the Crimson they are serving is only using them for its own benefit... sound familiar?
- The Paranoiac : He fits enough of the criteria to qualify. Quackity is vengeful to a fault , and can't let go of grudges to save his life — particularly his feud against Techno. After everything he's been through , Quackity has come to adopt a very cynical view of the world and assumes the worst of those around him; he even made sure to tell Tubbo over and over to not trust anyone, including not to trust Quackity himself. He has become a lot more cruel over time , as shown by his ruthless torture of Dream and manipulating people into joining his country, though it's heavily implicated some of his more morally questionable actions are rooted in a desire to Never Be Hurt Again . While he doesn't exactly fit the trope description for Control Freak , it's worth noting how his behavior shifts depending on if Quackity feels in control or not — when the situation is favorable, Quackity is able to keep a level head and can confidently control the conversation, however, when things go wrong, he freaks out and isn't able to mask his true emotions as well. Dream seemingly escaping from the prison alongside Techno has definitely only made him even more paranoid and unstable.
- Please Put Some Clothes On : Back in Season 1, Quackity was often on the receiving end of this from Tommy and Tubbo. They had given up by the time the Doomsday War rolled around.
- Properly Paranoid : Quackity readying the citizens for war with the Anarchists after Techno escaped may seem a bit drastic... but keep in mind he thinks Dream has actually escaped prison and wants revenge. Techno also offhandedly says in his lore stream that Phil and him should "start scheming", with him out of prison. The Anarchists have also expanded since the Doomsday War, with two new members joining their cause.
- Psychological Projection : One of his main manipulation tactics throughout the "Las Nevadas" arc, jointly in combination with the primary outlet for his trauma. This turns out to be his Fatal Flaw , indirectly in a literal sense as well as a figurative one. Quackity: (to Foolish, trying to recruit him to join Las Nevadas) The reason I came to you, Foolish, is because I see myself in you. I also once believed that peace was a way to live. I used to want the betterment of people. Those were my life morals, Foolish. And guess where that brought me ? That brought me nothing but suffering . That brought me nothing but a death . That's the reality of it, Foolish. That's the reality of all of us. I was once like you and that's the reason I let you die and the reason I've come to you — it's because you have so much potential.
- Punch-Clock Villain : In one livestream during the Schlatt administration, Tommy comes across Quackity while fixing the Prime Path in Manburg, which he had been exiled from. Quackity admits that under normal circumstances, he'd tell Schlatt about Tommy's presence and the location of the Underground Prime Path leading directly to Pogtopia , but apparently it was Sunday and thus his day off, so he didn't have to report back to Schlatt about it.
- Really Gets Around : By Dream SMP standards; he has asked out, flirted with, had ambiguously amorous relationships with, or outright been in romantic relationships with at least six members of the server... at the most conservative count, and has been called a "homewrecker" jokingly on more than one occasion. The aforementioned server members include two Presidents/fellow politicians, the guy that gave him PTSD before he joined the SMP (admittedly, that's because his stream chat told him to), the SMP's current monarch (albeit in a dubiously-canon way), and his (currently estranged) fiancés.
- Recovered Addict : Possibly; Quackity mentioned in a one-off comment that he "got off that [heroin] shit years ago", but given the nature of the livestream, especially since it took place in Season 1 , this is to be taken as semi- or ambiguously canon at best.
- Refuge in Audacity : A week before the Red Banquet, Quackity fills up Purpled's UFO with TNT to try to get his attention, but gets caught by Purpled before he can set off the explosives . He then quickly convinces Purpled to help him crash the Banquet after promising him payment from Las Nevadas. After the Banquet, Purpled collects his money... only for Quackity to blow up his UFO anyway... and then try to convince him to join Las Nevadas , promising him that his legacy would be preserved now that his UFO is gone... because of him . Not only does he live to tell the tale (considering that Purpled is very good in a fight and would easily annihilate him, a Non-Action Guy ), but it works out . It's eventually deconstructed as Purpled decides that revenge is a dish Best Served Cold , and eventually hatches a convoluted plan for vengeance against Quackity.
- One of Quackity's core traits is his hatred of injustice — Quackity ran against Wilbur in the L'Manburg Elections because he feared Wilbur would've been a corrupt ruler, and the El Rapids plotline was kickstarted by Quackity wanting to stand up to Dream for suddenly denouncing George's kingship. However, some of his actions — and especially those taken during his spiral — are driven more by revenge then justice, like his torture of Dream and failed attempt to kill Technoblade in the prison. In general , the violent methods he uses to try to get even often just cause more problems, yet every loss just makes him all the more desperate to get revenge .
- Slime eventually points out the flaws in this mentality and causes Quackity to start reflecting on this, allowing him to start pulling himself out of his spiral. Notably, rather then chasing after Purpled for betraying Quackity and killing Slime, Quackity instead focuses more on helping his friend, showing how he is drifting away from his vengeful ways. His character arc ultimately ends with him knowing and acknowledging that Revenge Is Not Justice , and tentatively reaching out to others as he rebuilds Las Nevadas.
- Safety in Indifference : In Week 5 of his 'lessons' with Slime, Quackity preaches to "[c]reate no emotional attachments to anything [because] everything gets destroyed". Considering one of the examples he uses to illustrate this was him and El Rapids being "abandoned" (note the word choice here), it carries strong indication that he feels this way... though granted, he's a massive hypocrite in saying he lacks emotional attachment, which Charlie points out in his "The Reason You Suck" Speech .
- Sanity Slippage : Heavily implied in his "Las Nevadas" arc, as he quickly spirals over the course of two months.
- Second Love : To both Karl and Sapnap, but there are implications that being the third and last to join the relationship is one of several sources of insecurity for him.
- Serial Spouse : He was previously engaged to Eret and Karl — although this particular engagement is ambiguously canon, and also to Schlatt, and was engaged to Karl and Sapnap for a period of time, though they're currently estranged as a result of Poor Communication Kills .
- Seriously Scruffy : In the weeks following Slime/Charlie's canon death, it is presumed that Quackity didn't have much regard for self-care while researching slimes, documenting their history and grieving in general — his shirt became crumpled, he lost his suspenders, his hair grew longer, his skin tone was paler (presumably from spending an extensive period of time indoors researching slimes), and he was seen crying .
- Signature Instrument : The acoustic guitar, which he plays while singing a plethora of improvised songs... including the one he sang at Schlatt's funeral with Auto-Tune , mocking him for being dead and burning in Hell.
- He gets one of these talks from Wilbur during the Election arc, where Wilbur warns him that being a Well-Intentioned Extremist is the only way to do good in the world.
- Convoluted as it may seem, he gives one of these right back to Foolish for growing to believe in peace and diplomacy during his May 22nd stream... one that is heavily laced with I Hate Past Me projection.
- Sir Swears-a-Lot : He drops F-bombs at a much higher frequency than most of the people on the server, with a possible exception being Tommy. He also often trolls BadBoyHalo by swearing as much as possible around him, to the point of inviting KSI onto the server.
- The first line of "The Official Manburg Hotel Building Permit", which he wrote while in lawyer mode, reads as such: Concious efforts ensure that the nation of Manburg is ready for a fat ass building*.
- Despite this, he can be very serious when he wants to be, and subverts this trope through most of the "Las Nevadas" arc , most prominently seen in the country's legal documents: All persons naturalized in Las Nevadas, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of Las Nevadas and the land wherein they reside. [...] Las Nevadas and any disputes within the nation will be settled in the Las Nevadas court (TBA), with the presence of the conflicted parties, and the proper authorities.
- Sour Outside, Sad Inside : This is what he evolves into during the Las Nevadas arc, being a bitter and disillusioned Manipulative Bastard who, subconsciously or not, lashes out his trauma and fears onto others.
- During the the Red Banquet , the Eggpire was very close to executing all of their attendees and sacrificing their life forces to the Egg after out-gambitting the Pro-Omelette attendees. The Last Plan Standing for it, though, ends up being Quackity and his recruitment of Techno and Purpled to crash the Banquet, and thanks to their timely intervention , Foolish is the only casualty on the anti-Eggpire side... though admittedly, even Foolish's death was preventable .
- Early in Season 4, it is revealed that many things leading up to Dream's imprisonment, including the Disc War Finale and even the subsequent escape, had been staged by Dream and Punz. However, Dream's plans didn't account for two things — not just Punz being Egged, but also Quackity deciding he wants his own revenge on Dream, which only delayed Dream's plans and threw him into a whole other world of hurt that he did not expect while carrying out his grand plan.
- From the very beginning of Jschlatt's rule, he was considering betraying Jschlatt for his own gain. When Jschlatt destroyed the White House, however, Quackity fully cemented himself as this before pulling a Heel–Face Turn .
- Quackity is generally a nice guy who cares about L'Manberg and genuinely seems to like the new president, Tubbo, but this trope still applies to him nonetheless. He is a part of the New L'Manberg cabinet but has expressed desire for more power, ironically saying or acting in ways reminiscent of how Schlatt behaved .
- While touring Las Nevadas with Fundy, Quackity claims that it's the happiest he's ever been even though the faction had only existed for about three months. After that, he shows Fundy the wedding pavilion and tells him that he thought he found someone (and adds that it wasn't exactly some one specifically) but now believes he hasn't, which isn't exactly something a genuinely happy and cheerful person would say.
- Looking back, it's highly likely that this has been going on for much longer, because it's impossible for his relationship trauma and abandonment issues to have popped up out of nowhere in Season 3. Considering how quickly he bounced back from his experiences with Schlatt at the start of Season 2, it's easy to assume that he might have been repressing his trauma for months.
- One such incident occurs when Wilbur tries to make his own country outside Las Nevadas' borders after Quackity refuses him citizenship: Quackity: Congratulations on the opening ceremony of your new, soon-to-fail country.
- This is even more evident in the fourth "Las Nevadas" stream during Quackity's confrontation with Karl when the latter expresses raging confusion regarding the two's mutual "history", with Quackity responding quickly in tow by lashing out heavily with copious amounts of snark.
- Straight Man and Wise Guy : Though he is usually the cloudcuckoolander , throughout the Las Nevadas arc, he is the Straight Man to Slimecicle's Wise Guy, being the world-weary ex-politician and businessman (though far from straight himself).
- Quackity has claimed to be the older cousin of the memetic Minecraft player Shitass , and aside from Quackity's somewhat asymmetrical face in Minecraft (which he attributes to "a condition"), the two's faces were virtually identical. Subverted in most fan depictions , however.
- Throughout his findings about the Village That Went Mad, Ponk finds a picture of Helga and theorizes that Quackity could be descended from her, based on the two's similar appearances. However, whether or not the two are actually related is still unknown and unconfirmed .
- Stronger Than They Look : According to "Hitting on 16", Quackity can throw a rock hard enough to break glass that was installed to shield against an explosion while being prone on the ground, which isn't something that one would normally expect from a Non-Action Guy .
- Sympathetic Adulterer : Technically speaking, several of his trysts occurred during the Manburg era before Schlatt dropped dead from a stroke/heart attack (and Quackity claimed to be too scared to call for a "divorce") — most notably with Wilbur at Niki's birthday party, and he started out as Karl's side-piece before the Polycule became a thing, but who could blame him? Schlatt really was that big of an asshole .
- On the tactful side, during the Manburg era and the time leading up to it, Quackity nicknamed the White House (the Presidential Headquarters of L'Manburg and later Manburg) the 'Casa de Putas', but whenever he's asked for a translation of the name, he translates it to "toilet" or "bathroom". note The actual translation would literally be "house of whores/bitches", i.e. "whorehouse" or "brothel".
- On the not-so-tactful side, Quackity builds his real-life bedroom as a house next to Ze Haus; in the livestream following it, he names the place ' Su Puta Madre ', claiming that it translates to "house".
- Take This Job and Shove It : When Schlatt ordered that the White House be taken down, a massive argument occurred between him and Quackity, who regarded it as the last straw for him to stay in Manburg. Quackity eventually told Schlatt during the argument that he could "find [him]self another Vice President", and would then go on to shoot Schlatt , killing him canonically, before fleeing the country.
- The Teetotaler : Implied . Quackity has told Glatt that he never liked him taking up drinking, and Tommy (to whom Quackity is relatively close) speculates that Las Nevadas doesn't serve alcohol. Considering Quackity's past , this is probably more than justified. It's possibly later subverted, however, as The Wilbur Van describes him sipping on a brandy at one point.
- This Cannot Be! : Played for Laughs when the L'Manburg Presidential Election results were announced, when Quackity, acting as a Big Bad Wannabe at the time, says that "This can't be!" in response to POG2020 getting 45% of the popular vote while SWAG2020 got 30%. However, this all gets turned around when his own coalition with Schlatt2020 (16%) kicks in...
- Tin Man : Despite claiming that there was no room for emotions in Las Nevadas, almost all of the decisions Quackity makes while leading the faction are based on pure emotional instinct, not to mention how he initially built the faction for his loved ones to begin with.
- Tragic Villain : Has shades of being one, having pretty much snapped after his Trauma Conga Line and started manipulating people left and right, while using methods on par of his enemies that his past self would probably have been horrified by. In other words, a jaded ex-idealist whose Break the Cutie process went a step too far . It's also heavily implied that he knows he's not the "good guy", so to speak, and his actions can be regarded as outright immoral by others, judging from a conversation with Sam in his May 22nd lore stream.
- Trauma Button : He has really bad memories when he comes to see Schlatt , and apparently had flashbacks every time he saw Technoblade .
- Went through one that ironically began on what should have been start of only good things for him. Quackity had accomplished his goal of winning the L'Manburg Election, but he was only able to do so by teaming up with Schlatt. That one action ended up up costing him any influence he would've had as Vice President and started this chain of misfortunate events. During his entire tenure, Quackity was powerless and abused by his fiancé, was forced to watch Tubbo be executed right in front of him, saw a build that meant so much to him torn down without remorse and was mocked for caring about it, fought in a war and failed to stop his friend Wilbur from blowing up L'Manburg, and shortly afterward, Wilbur would lose his final life. In the following two seasons, he was unable to prevent Dream from pressuring Tubbo into exiling his friend Tommy, failed to kill Technoblade and instead got killed by him, was powerless to defend New L'Manberg from Dream, Technoblade, and Philza during the Doomsday War, watched his good friend BadBoyHalo get corrupted by a supernatural force, would lose another friend when Tommy was killed by Dream in prison, and was seemingly abandoned by his best friend and fiancés — the only three people he felt like he could trust and one of the few positive aspects of his life. The first episode "Las Nevadas" even lampshades how awful Quackity's life has been since that fateful day by playing audio of what sounds like Schlatt and Quackity making their deal during the election over a cynical take on the quote "May the best day of your past be the worst day of your future".
- Since this is the Dream SMP , after all, it's much more than that . Quackity allegedly already had PTSD by the time he stepped foot on the server from a Dark and Troubled Past ; and after the huge block of a paragraph above, he hits the Despair Event Horizon with his morality going to shit. He then almost watches one of his close friends die again (and watches said close friend's husband get detonated) from his rival's trap, is later straight-up forgotten by one of his fiancés (once again triggering his abandonment issues); he visits the prison one last time and both of his greatest enemies seemingly disappear without a trace; he gets betrayed by one of the people he recruited to his country (albeit by unethical means), and his best friend (the guy that managed to worm his way into his heart after he closed it off) dies as a result of said betrayal. All this before even turning 21 , if we're going by content creator ages, with the last four incidences happening back-to-back in the span of about three days . And as we know, after the prison break, if Dream ever gets his hands on Quackity, he's promised a much, much worse fate to come ...
- Tyrannicide : He takes Schlatt's second canon life in a Mistreatment-Induced Betrayal . Sadly, since everyone on the server has three canon lives (Philza excluded), the results weren't quite as fatal as one might usually expect.
- Underestimating Badassery : Quackity is often underestimated due to his lack of PVP skill, so whenever he shows his more cunning and ruthless side, everyone, both in and out of universe, is caught off guard. This includes him taking Schlatt's second canon life with a bow and arrow while Schlatt was mocking him, and holding Techno's prized horse Carl hostage to get him to give in to the Butcher Army's demands, which resulted in his execution .
- The Unfettered : He is willing to do anything, including taking extreme measures , to get what he wants. This includes allowing one of his own fiancés to sacrifice one of his canon lives to help his country, El Rapids, gain independence, and spending about 68 days in a row torturing Dream. It's later revealed that he didn't use to be this, but circumstances caused him to toe the line more and more until he outright becomes this trope.
- Unwitting Instigator of Doom : Him challenging Wilbur in the election opened the floodgates for other nominees to join in, including one Jschlatt ...
- Vague Age : Purpled's June 9th lore stream reveals that the interior of the Las Nevadas casino has posters for celebrating Quackity's "88th birthday", despite it being previously mentioned offhandedly in several early SMP livestreams that he is around the same age of his content creator counterpart (19 when he joined the server). In his earliest appearances, he also claimed he was in juvenile prison for 10, 41, or 43 years. In hard-canon , the only confirmation towards Quackity's canonical age is that he's younger than Wilbur, as Wilbur referred to him as "that fucking kid" in his 15 March 2022 stream.
- Vice President Who? : Zigzagging Trope . During the Schlatt administration, Quackity had little to no actual political power and his main role in the cabinet was to " have a fat ass ". This is due to Schlatt's desire to consolidate power onto himself and himself alone, which he lampshades before his resignation, and Wilbur even calls his position "pointless" in a conversation with him before the Festival. The constant disrespect played a big part in him defecting from Manberg, and even now, he hates being told what he can and cannot do. Under the Tubbo administration, Quackity regains his role as VP after Tommy's exile, and wields a lot more political power than he did in the previous cabinet, being able to assemble and unofficially lead the Butcher Army. Quackity: Can I have a say in this? Schlatt: I mean, I'm not gonna care but you sure can try.
- Villainous Breakdown : When it appears that Dream and Technoblade simply vanish from the prison without warning, he completely loses his mind, laughing maniacally and shouting at Sam for his apparent incompetence. From his perspective, it was the day he was going to finally rid the SMP of his two greatest enemies once and for all, one way or another, but by the end of it, all the control he had over the situation disappears before his eyes. The prison has seemingly been compromised, and now the two most powerful individuals on the server are free, and have very good reason to want him dead. He's suddenly in a position where he and the country he's worked so hard to build are just as vulnerable as L'Manberg was . However, his breakdown is eventually interrupted by a certain turn of events involving a double-chest, Purpled, a lever, Slimecicle, and lava, which causes him to snap out of that breakdown into a different sort of breakdown.
- Virtue Is Weakness : By the time the "Las Nevadas" plotline rolls around, Quackity seems to have adopted this attitude to a certain degree in a classic case of Became Their Own Antithesis , thinking of attachment and trust as weakness in an attempt to Never Be Hurt Again . It is painfully clear that he's a Hypocrite about it ( unlike Dream, who holds a similar view but without the trauma-induced viewpoint part), and it doesn't work out for him in the end.
- War Hawk : During the Tubbo administration, he forms the Butcher Army in a quest to eliminate all of L'Manburg's enemies and to consolidate national power, in an attempt to make a safe environment for his loved ones to thrive.
- Was It Really Worth It? : In the November 27th "Las Nevadas" stream, Quackity tries to teach Slime to "[s]eek successful revenge because if you fail, the consequences are going to be bitter", based on his own life experience. However, Slime responds by asking him if continuing the Cycle of Revenge was really worth it, to which Quackity eventually concedes that it wasn't. He later recounts this memory just before his second canon death . Slime: Is it worth it? [...] I've been watching for a long time — one person lashes out and then the other does, until they're both gone. From what I've seen, it feels like people don't stop taking that revenge. Is it ever worth it? ( Beat ) Quackity: (quietly) No . No, it's not.
- Well-Intentioned Extremist : Quackity is not exactly a villain, but he is more willing then most to commit heinous or violent actions if it secures the results he wants. While he does want to be respected and enjoys holding positions of power, he still genuinely cares for others on the server and wants what is best for them. One of his primary motivations being his disdain for injustice, particularly from the likes of people such as Dream or Schlatt, who abused their power for their own selfish goals. Though he sometimes acts as though he knows better than the people he cares for, which often motivates some of his darker actions.
- Why Did It Have to Be Snakes? : Technoblade, initially. Quackity apparently has PTSD from being repeatedly killed by Technoblade during Weeks 1 and 6 of Minecraft Monday , to the point of getting flashbacks every time he sees him, and he even logged out when he saw Techno standing in front of him just before the Manburg Festival.
- Winged Humanoid : Episode 3 of "Las Nevadas" casually reveals Quackity flying with a pair of wings. It's unknown if these are actually part of his body like Philza's wings or if he somehow got his hands on an Elytra or a similar tool, given how the End dimension is inaccessible in the Dream SMP. In fan interpretations , though, he is sometimes depicted as one .
- Woobie, Destroyer of Worlds : By the Las Nevadas arc, Quackity has become a ruthless Manipulative Bastard , but is also known to be a former Wide-Eyed Idealist who was driven off the deep end after a long Trauma Conga Line of being constantly made to feel unworthy and excluded, and is implied to have some major self-esteem issues. It's really telling in that this is how he chooses to follow in Wilbur's footsteps as well as being a Well-Intentioned Extremist .
- Working with the Ex : Schlatt's ghost reaches out to Quackity and asks his ex-fiancé to get the revival book back from Dream to resurrect him. Quackity, initially hesitant and not wanting anything to do with Schlatt, eventually makes a bet with the ghost: if Quackity won, Schlatt would never be revived and would work for him at Las Nevadas, and if Schlatt won, Quackity would get the book and revive him. The next scenes show Quackity trying to convince Sam to let him into the prison to get the book from Dream... though it's later revealed that Quackity won the bet but Schlatt never held up his end of the deal.
- Yes-Man : Subverted . He acts as this to Schlatt right after his election to office, to the point of being referred to as "Schlatt's bitch". However, he quickly reveals himself to be against some of Schlatt's more extreme policies like exiling Tommy and Wilbur from L'Manburg — presumably putting up a fairly convincing façade of being an overenthusiastic and slightly manic Yes-Man for Schlatt's inauguration, and initially aimed to act as the voice of reason in the cabinet to curb some of Schlatt's extremism. This doesn't work and only caused a heap of trauma, and he eventually becomes The Starscream and later does a Heel–Face Turn after one mistreatment too many.
- You Have GOT to Be Kidding Me! : During the March 16th stream, while reading Schlatt's note to him, Quackity's facial expression and reaction practically screams this whenever Schlatt makes a suggestive comment towards him in the note. Quackity: (reading the note) Hope this note finds you well, after all, you– (The next page of the note reads, " You had the fattest ass in my cabinet ") Quackity: ( Head Desks against his microphone via facecam)
- all lowercase letters : He used to be named "boner" with a lowercase "b". In The Wilbur Van , the name is iterated as "Boner" with a capital "B".
- Cool Horse : He used to be a skeleton trap horse, which are uncommon enough as they are.
- Dem Bones : He's a skeleton horse.
- A Lizard Named "Liz" : Or in this case, a skeletal horse named "boner" and eventually Latin for "bones".
- Meaningful Name : His current name means "bones" in Latin. His former name, "boner", is also quite self-evident, if you would excuse the Double Entendre . It's implied that Quackity renamed Ossium so that he would be taken more seriously during his "Las Nevadas" arc... though the horse is still called Boner in The Wilbur Van .
- Shoo the Dog : After deciding that he would return to fight for L'Manburg for the Doomsday War, Quackity left Ossium in an area away from the faction and made a sign to let the horse go if Quackity died during the conflict.
- Team Pet : He was the mascot and national horse of El Rapids.

Quackity must either be a) delusional and thinks that Dream announced USMP to rival QSMP, when they both had the same idea in private or b) wants to distance from Dream because of the allegations. The worst part about b) is that in the bottom paragraph on image 6, Dream says they were still talking a few weeks before the drama, which is very ...
Dream Anti tweet ratio's Dream's original thread about Quackity. With a narrative like that of course they would. Wild, it's not even accusing Quackity of anything, he even is sympathetic to not communicating in it - twitter is vile for sensationalizing things for hit tweets, and it's typically from self proclaimed leftists too.
dream's tweet (27/04/2023) this post is going to get a tiny bit personal, so if you're not in the mood to be a little upset probably best to not read it, though it's about the community drama right now. A small 'heh' came from Technoblade as he gripped his battle axe like he's ready for war, and he is. "Too bad you failed.". A direct contrast to Dream's angry voice, yet still equally as threatening. In which Quackity has never planned to meet up with anyone, let alone two people, who got that riled up for his safety.

by Nicetwin123. Quackity has been a villain in the making for awhile, and I love it. [An essay.] Quackity has always given me hints of being a very interesting character in the story. Quackity is closer to Dream than he is willing to admit. Obligatory rp not cc's. TLDR: Both Dream and Quackity single mindedly pursue one goal and attempt to justify their actions but only Quackity seems to believe his own justification. They are almost equally bad for the rest of the server and when they fight no one wins.
