Reflection on Immigration/Family Narrative
My process of working on the essay was kind of easy because I had talked about that topic many times before, so that made me understand and be more fluent when I start writing my essay because the assigned topic was familiar to me. I didn’t have any plan for my essay, I simply started with the beginning of my family’s story of immigration to this country and then I continued explaining my process of how I started getting used to this country and how I developed here. The changes that I made while writing my essay was that I got deeper and more specific on the topics that were about me and how I felt about this country, and the structure of my essay because I simply ended a paragraph when a topic ended. How I made those decisions was reading my essay and thinking if someone that does not know my story would understand it how I want it to be understood by my audience and that helps me change different things in order to have a better writing on my essay.
How the comments from my peers helped me was to describe and be more specific in certain aspects in order to make my essay more understandable in other people’s eyes. One activity that helped me with this essay was my college essay that I did in High school in my senior year that I did in february/March of this same year and that was my topic for my college essay. I talked about how my life changed when I got to this country and how I felt about being in this new life, because coming to this country represented a new life for me. So because of that essay and other things, I felt more comfortable and confident writing my essay.
