How can we help you?
Eligibility to graduate: grad checks.
I am almost ready to Graduate and finish - how can I check?
Although you can use the myInfo area to find out how you are progressing in your degree, it is better to check your progress against your Course Structure in the online Handbook.
To check your progress you will need to know the year you first enrolled in your course, and you will need to find the corresponding course structure for that year. You must complete all the Core Units and any Specified Electives that are shown in your course structure. You must also complete the required number of Credit Points in order to graduate.
If you need extra help planning your last few units you can contact your Academic Chair or if not urgent, request a Grad Check to help you.
Some notes of caution when checking your progress towards graduation:
- Check that your Nominated Completion Date is set correctly in myInfo > Course Details > Self Enrolment. If you change the date during your last semester, make sure to inform the Graduations Team via MyAnswers > Ask a Question.
- You can only count 30 points of credit at 100 level (first year) towards your Undergraduate degree. See here for more information.
- If you are intending to graduate with more than one major, or with any minors, you must check that the core requirements of your majors and minors are not too similar. For a second major, there must be at least 12 points of credit at 200/300/400 level that are unique to each major. For a minor, there must be at least 6 points at part II level that are unique to the minor.
- If you were awarded advanced standing at 200/300/400 level , you must ensure that you complete at least 50% of your 200/300/400 level requirements at Murdoch (as a Murdoch student) to be awarded your degree. In other words, you can only get advanced standing for 100 level and for up to half of the 200/300/400 level requirements of your degree.
- If you are likely to be one or two points short due to the recent course structure changes, it may be possible to have these points waived, subject to regulations. See here for more information.
Please ensure your Nominated Completion Date is set correctly in myInfo and that your major, additional major and minors are listed in myInfo > Course & Unit Details > Majors/Minors. You can request changes to these via MyAnswers > Ask a Question, unless you wish to change your primary major. If you wish to change your primary major, you will need to submit a Course Transfer application which is only available towards the end of each semester. Please note, if you are in your final semester you can request an Alternative Exit to graduate without transferring courses.
*Please note: myInfo doesn't allow for thorough Graduation Checks. It is designed to be a general indicator and will not include course variations, re-coded units, cross institutional or Study Abroad units. Transnational Student Please contact your respective student services/programme management office and they will be able to assist you.
