UBC Nursing ranked 13th in the world!
For the past several years UBC Nursing has been ranked at 20th to 25th in the world, which is pretty impressive, but we have great news! This year our QS World ranking for Nursing leaped up to #13!
April 16, 2024
This new ranking places our school just below the Canadian nursing schools at the University of Toronto and University of Alberta, and above the very impressive programs at McMaster and McGill. School director Dr. Elizabeth Saewyc notes,
This is really exciting news, placing us alongside top tier Schools of Nursing like U Penn, Johns Hopkins, UW, Yale, Columbia, Manchester, and the Florence Nightengale (Kings College London), and ahead of other impressive schools like Duke, U Michigan Ann Arbor, UCSF and UCLA. Of course this is due to the amazing productivity and reputation of our faculty (since citations and h-index weigh in the mix) but also the highest score reputation with employers, above even #1 ranked U Penn.
Congratulations team!

2024 rankings for School of Nursing from U.S. News
The Daily published the latest U.S. News & World Reports rankings for graduate and professional programs, including those for the Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing.
Following widespread critiques of the criteria used in developing such rankings, the publication has again shifted its methodology in many areas—leading to impressive jumps for some CWRU programs, slight declines for others, and entirely new rankings for a few more.
U.S. News says its rankings generally now focus more on research, scholarship and student outcomes with less emphasis on reputation and selectivity/student quality.
“Though we all know rankings can’t possibly convey the true experience and value of a Case Western Reserve education, I appreciate U.S. News ’ increased emphasis on quantitative data,” President Eric W. Kaler said. “That said, the quality of our programs and our people is what makes Case Western Reserve truly exceptional, and I look forward to finding ways to ensure others recognize our impact.”
The Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing ranked #17 among best nursing schools for both master’s programs (down three) and Doctor of Nursing Practice programs (up three).
Nursing rankings this year had an “increased emphasis on program size, research and faculty resources while reducing emphasis on reputation,” the publication reported. These shifts led to Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing being ranked No. 17 for its nursing master’s and doctoral programs.
In addition, the publication introduced two new specialty rankings: CWRU is now No. 4 for best adult primary care nurse practitioner and No. 12 for best family nurse practitioner programs. The school’s acute care nurse practitioner ranking remains at No. 7 in the U.S., while its midwifery program slipped one to No. 22 and the nurse anesthesia program remained at 36th.

Features of the macrostructure and microstructure of uranium dioxide powders are considered. Assumptions are made on the mechanisms of the behavior of powders of various natures during pelletizing. Experimental data that reflect the effect of these powders on the quality of fuel pellets, which is evaluated by modern procedures, are presented. To investigate the structure of the powders, modern methods of electron microscopy, helium pycnometry, etc., are used. The presented results indicate the disadvantages of wet methods for obtaining the starting UO 2 powders by the ammonium diuranate (ADU) flow sheet because strong agglomerates and conglomerates, which complicate the process of pelletizing, are formed. The main directions of investigation that can lead to understanding the regularities of formation of the structure of starting UO 2 powders, which will allow one to control the process of their fabrication and stabilize the properties of powders and pellets, are emphasized.
