Looking for BIO Channel? It’s now FYI.

If you’ve been looking around for BIO channel you may have already noticed it’s been re-branded as FYI. The A+E Networks-owned channel switched from BIO to FYI as of July 7, with a change to more lifestyle-focused programming. FYI’s lineup consists of shows such as “Married at First Site,” a brand new reality show that pairs unknowing couples; the makeover series “Born to Style” beginning on July 15; and the Las Vegas-based “World Food Championships” series premiering tonight, July 10. “American Eats,” “Kitchen Nightmares,” and “Wife Swap” are among other shows airing on FYI.

A+E Networks President and CEO Nancy Dubuc said last year of the rebrand, “FYI will be an upscale network with a younger and more modern sensibility than what we’ve seen on traditional lifestyle networks.”

You can find FYI on Dish Network channel 119 (HD/SD), DirecTV 266 (HD/SD), AT&T U-verse 1272 (HD), Verizon FiOS 629 (HD), and on most cable TV providers (check your local guide listings.)

Really! How could you replace Bio channel with the junk that is now on. Lost another viewer.

The Bio…or Biography was a great channel. Very interesting learning the life and times of various important famous people. The top 100 most influential people in history is far more interesting than the the top 10 ways to fix an omelette on this replacement channel FYI.

I don’t watch reality shows. I used to like Biography Channel, but it’s long gone.

The Bio channel was a good channel, I would pay more for the channel to be in my line-up. FYI is just another junk programming channel. I agree with everyone here how bad FYI really is. The worse decision ever made to change BIO. complete failure. Bring back BIO. PLEASE!

I was searching for the BIO channel hoping to watch some biographies and some intelligent t.v. To my surprise I find it’s been changed to FYI, they said this is more lifestyle, UPSCALE viewing, really? Is this supposed to be a joke?? Married AT First Sight is upscale? LOL If we want to watch kitchen crap we’ll watch the Food Channel, if we want to watch reality we will watch Bravo. The BIO channel was upscale and intelligent viewing. Who ever’s job it was to be in charge of this re-branding of the channel has done a terrible job, it’s a total FAIL. Who are these people that get these jobs and don’t know what the heck they’re doing and making big money for it?? I sure wish I could hold this position because if the execs wanted an upscale channel I sure could of came up with better programming than this crap on FYI!

The whole channel is gone from DirecTv now!!! It’s just GONE. Not offered any more!! WTH happened?

Since the Bio channel changed to the FYI channel, when you go to the Guide on Time Warner, no programming shows. It just says FYI on all the hours. I like to watch the channel, but I don’t know what’s playing when because there is no information on the guide.

I agree… they ruined a perfectly good channel. Who needs channels with more junk like they are showing?

BIO to fyi, ??? What a joke. BIO was a fairly good channel. Honestly this fyi, is so awful, I would rather shut off the TV.

Hate it! Kitchen nightmares? wife swap? food factory? WORLD FOOD CHAMPIONSHIPS? ARE YOU KIDDING ME? This lineup is boring and horrible. What a snooze fest! Married at First Sight is no more exciting than Honey Boo-Boo. More sophisticated? I’m in shock. What happened to intelligent programming? This is ridiculous….. Talk about running out of material!

Story Television, a new digital TV subchannel with historical and 'nonfiction' shows, debuts

If you feel like reality beats fiction these days, this might be the television channel for you. 

Story Television, an over-the-air outlet showing historical and other nonfiction programming from cable channels like History channel and A&E, debuted nationwide March 28, including on Channel 12.4 in Milwaukee, one of the digital subchannels operated by WISN-TV (Channel 12). 

The channel is structuring its programming along all-day themes. Mondays feature shows about "Miltary & Combat," Tuesdays focus on "Tech & Innovation," Wednesdays "World Events," Thursdays "American History," Fridays "Modern Marvels," Saturdays "Unexplained Phenomena" and Sundays "Biography." 

The programming itself will come from repeats of such cable TV staples as "Men Who Built America," "WWII in HD," "In Search of Aliens" and A&E's "Biography."

Verizon Adds 30 New Channels to FiOS TV Lineup - Including 17 in HD - for Philadelphia Region Customers

PHILADELPHIA - Verizon FiOS TV is now even better for customers in the Philadelphia region as the company is launching 30 new channels, including 17 additional high-definition (HD) channels.  FiOS TV customers in the area now have more than 1,100 HD choices available at any time, with access to a total of approximately 104 HD channels in the market and more than 1,000 HD video-on-demand (VOD) titles offered each month.

As a result of this latest expansion of the FiOS TV lineup, Verizon is now offering consumers here access to far more HD content than Comcast. 

Customers can get much of this new content with Verizon's new FiOS TV Extreme HD service for $57.99 a month, or in a three-service bundle for $109.99.  Other pricing options are available for new customers and for Verizon's current FiOS TV Premier customers.

"FiOS TV is the only service to consider if you want the ultimate HD experience," said Mary Yarbrough, senior vice president of marketing and sales for Verizon's Mid-Atlantic region.  "With our increased number of HD channels, along with HD video-on-demand programming, we're blowing cable away.

"The addition of new HD channels is part of our commitment to lead the industry in the scope and quality of our programming," said Yarbrough.

In the Philadelphia region, FiOS TV is available to consumers and businesses in much of southeastern Pennsylvania, Delaware and southern New Jersey.  The service also is available in western and south-central Pennsylvania. 

In addition, Verizon has negotiated a cable franchise that would authorize it to offer FiOS TV in Philadelphia.  The franchise is pending review and approval by the city council and mayor.

FiOS TV customers in the Philadelphia region now have access to a total of approximately 104 HD channels and get to see some of their favorite channels in HD, including FX, The Biography Channel and Superstation WGN HD.

For those who want the best in news, Verizon has added Fox Business Network and Fox News Channel in HD.  Viewers who watch home-and-leisure programming can now enjoy QVC, the Home Shopping Network, the Travel Channel and Planet Green, while kids and teens can enjoy their favorite shows on the Disney Channel, Toon Disney and ABC Family - all in HD.

In addition, movie buffs now can get MGM HD, Encore HD and the Hallmark Movie Channel in HD. 

Verizon also has launched two new HD sports channels: ESPNews HD, a 24-hour sports news television station, and Speed HD, the nation's first cable television network dedicated to motor sports, with content that covers everything from racing to restoration to motorcycles, movies and more.

In addition to the new HD content, Verizon has launched 13 new standard-definition channels in the region, including Blue Highway TV, CBS College Sports Network, CCTV-9, Chiller, Current TV, Jus Punjabi, RFD TV, SET Asia, Starz Indie, Starz Retro and Zee TV.

Consumers who sign up for FiOS TV between now and Dec. 31 are eligible to enjoy free access for 90 days to three premium entertainment packages - Cinemax, HBO and FiOS TV's Movie Package, which features Showtime, Starz, The Movie Channel, Encore, Sundance Channel and IFC.  This package includes 40 HD premium channels as well as more than 9,000 free VOD titles per month.
