Driver cpc part 2 test: case studies.

You can book the part 2 case studies test of the Driver Certificate of Professional Competence ( CPC ) as soon as you’ve got your provisional licence. You do not need to have passed the Driver CPC part 1 theory test.

If you’re requalifying as a heavy goods vehicle ( HGV ) or bus driver by taking parts 2 and 4 of the test, you cannot book your test online. You have to book by phone instead.

Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency customer services Telephone: 0300 200 1122 (choose option 01) Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm Find out about call charges

What to take to your test

You must bring one of the following:

  • a Great Britain photocard driving licence
  • a Northern Ireland photocard driving licence and paper counterpart
  • an EU photocard driving licence (and paper counterpart, if you have one)

If you do not have a photocard driving licence, bring your paper licence and a valid passport.

Your test will be cancelled and you’ll lose your fee if you do not bring the right documents.

Revision and practice

You can use books or software to revise for the test and take practice tests.

You can buy:

  • Driver CPC : the Official DVSA Guide for Professional Goods Vehicle Drivers online if you’re learning to drive a lorry
  • The Official DVSA Guide to Driving Buses and Coaches book if you’re learning to drive a bus or coach

How the test works

The test is made up of 7 case studies you work through on a computer. The case studies are short stories based on situations that you’re likely to come across in your working life.

You’ll be asked between 6 and 8 multiple-choice questions on each case study.

The test lasts for 1 hour and 15 minutes, and the pass mark is 40 out of 50.

Your test result

You’ll get a letter with the results at the test centre.

You need the test pass reference number when you book your Driver CPC part 4 practical demonstration test.

The pass letter is valid for 2 years.

You need to pass the Driver CPC part 4 practical demonstration test within 2 years, otherwise you’ll have to pass the part 2 case studies test again.

If you fail the test

You’ll get a result letter with feedback telling you why you’ve failed.

You can book another case studies test straight away, but you cannot take it for another 3 clear working days.

Cancelled tests

You can apply for a refund of out-of-pocket expenses if DVSA cancels your test at short notice.

Periodic Driver CPC Training Course

To maintain your Driver Qualification Card (DQC), HGV and PCV drivers must complete 35 hours of Periodic CPC training every 5 years.

NI Transport & Training provide Northern Ireland and Online Driver CPC Periodic Training Course modules at our training locations in Northern Ireland , in-person at your location or online Driver CPC Courses via Zoom.

Driver CPC Training Northern Ireland

Legal Requirement

EU Law (Directive 2003/59) requires all HGV and PCV drivers (with limited exemptions) to hold and maintain a Driver Qualification Card and with it, attend 35 hours training every 5 years.

This is to keep a standard of knowledge and skills of all authorised drivers and contributes to the safety within the road transport industry.

How is Driver CPC Delivered?

Our approved Driver CPC training course is delivered usually in a classroom with 1 trainer and a class of participants. This promotes positive engagement and discussion. At the end of the day, a certificate of completion is issued and your attendance is uploaded onto the Government gateway against your Driver Qualification Card details.

Each driver must complete 35 hours CPC training every 5 years and this is best managed if each driver completes 1x 7 hour CPC training day each year.

During the Covid pandemic, the government approved training to be completed via Zoom  and NI Transport & Training do also complete training this way.

NI Transport & Training also carry out CPC training for clients with groups of staff at your location. Please contact us directly to discuss a group booking at your location.

Driver cpc part 1 test: theory.

You can book the Part 1 Theory Test of the Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) as soon as you have received your provisional licence.

The test is made up of 2 parts; multiple choice and hazard perception. You have to book both parts separately, but you can take them on the same day. It does not matter which one you take first but you need to pass both within 2 years of each other to obtain your theory test certificate.

What to take to your test

You must take one of the following:

  • A Great Britain photocard driving licence.
  • A Northern Ireland photocard driving licence and paper counterpart.
  • An EU photocard driving licence and paper counterpart, if you have one.

Study these to learn the rules and skills you will be tested on. You can buy them from most high street and online bookshops.

BOOKING THEORY TESTS

The Theory consists of three modules – multiple-choice, hazard perception and the CPC case studies test.

You have to book all three modules separately, but you can take them on the same day. It doesn’t matter which one you take first.

What is the cost?

Take the part 2 case studies test at the same time as the theory and hazard perception. Doing this will mean you can get your driver CPC as soon as you've passed the practical. You can then start work straight away!

You must take one of the following forms of ID to the test centre:

  • A Great Britain photocard driving licence
  • A Northern Ireland photocard driving licence and paper counterpart
  • A EU photocard driving licence (and paper counterpart, if you have one)
  • If you don’t have a photocard driving licence, take your paper licence and a valid passport.

You must pass the module 1a multiple-choice theory and module 1b hazard perception test before you can start your practical training

We value every paper writer working for us, therefore we ask our clients to put funds on their balance as proof of having payment capability. Would be a pity for our writers not to get fair pay. We also want to reassure our clients of receiving a quality paper, thus the funds are released from your balance only when you're 100% satisfied.

Will I get caught if I buy an essay?

The most popular question from clients and people on the forums is how not to get caught up in the fact that you bought an essay, and did not write it yourself. Students are very afraid that they will be exposed and expelled from the university or they will simply lose their money, because they will have to redo the work themselves.

If you've chosen a good online research and essay writing service, then you don't have to worry. The writers from the firm conduct their own exploratory research, add scientific facts and back it up with the personal knowledge. None of them copy information from the Internet or steal ready-made articles. Even if this is not enough for the client, he can personally go to the anti-plagiarism website and check the finished document. Of course, the staff of the sites themselves carry out such checks, but no one can forbid you to make sure of the uniqueness of the article for yourself.

Thanks to the privacy policy on web platforms, no one will disclose your personal data and transfer to third parties. You are completely safe from start to finish.
