- Essay should be of minimum 3000 and maximum 3500 words (excluding headings, figures and list of sources/references etc.)
- Essay should be in English.
- Essay should be in Microsoft Word format only.
- All Figures/Statistics should be up-to-date and accurate.
- Work should be original. Any content found plagiarized will be immediately disqualified.
- Content should be relevant to the Topic of the Essay.
- For English, Essay, must be typed in Times New Roman, Font Size 12, Line spacing 1.5 & converted to PDF.
- Essay submitted after the deadline will not be included in the Competition.

HEC Extends Deadline for Inter-University Essay Writing Competition 2022
The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has extended the deadline for the inter-university essay writing competition to 6 September 2022.
The development comes after heavy rains and flash floods wreaked havoc across the country resulting in the closure of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs).
HEC announced this competition on Pakistan’s 75th Independence Day in collaboration with the Ministry of Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives.
The competition is aimed to help the youth analyze the opportunities and problems that Pakistan faces. It will also enable them to critically identify the role that youngsters can play in the growth of the country through creativity, critical thinking, and productive involvement.
Here are the details about the inter-university essay writing competition:
Topics (English and Urdu)
- Development Journey of Pakistan from 1947 to 2022; Lessons Learnt vis-à-vis Other Countries.
- Pakistan at 2047: National Youth Aspirations.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must be:
- Pakistani/Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) nationals.
- Regular university students.
- Aged 25 years or less.
Essay Writing Criteria
- Entry in one language only.
- The word count must be 2,500-3,000.
- The English essay must be typed in Times New Roman in font size 12 and 1.5 line spacing.
- The Urdu essay must be typed, not handwritten.
- All entries must be submitted in PDF format.
The new deadline for submissions is 6 September 2022.
How to Participate
- Candidates are to submit their essays with a filled registration form downloaded from HEC’s website .
- The essay and the registration form have to be emailed to [email protected] , and hard copies must be sent through courier to ‘Saher Mirza, Assistant Director (Academics), Higher Education Commission, Sector H-8, Islamabad’.
Cash Prizes (for English and Urdu)
The winners of the competition will be awarded cash prizes as follows:
- First position — Rs. 500,000.
- Second position — Rs. 300,000.
- Third position — Rs. 200,000.
- Fourth to tenth positions — Rs. 100,000 each.
Note: Incomplete and duplicate entries will be rejected and the HEC reserves the right to reject any or all entries without reason. All other terms and conditions of the Inter-University Essay Competition remain unchanged.

ISLAMABAD: Higher Education Commission (HEC), in collaboration with the Ministry of Planning and Development, is holding an inter-university essay writing competition in Urdu and English languages to commemorate the 75th birth anniversary of Pakistan.
The competition is aimed at sensitising the youth to analyse opportunities and challenges faced by the nation and identify their role in the development of Pakistan through critical thinking, creativity and productive engagement.
The topics in both languages are: development journey of Pakistan from 1947-2022; lessons learnt viz-a-viz other countries; and Pakistan at 2047: national youth aspirations.
The first prize winners in each category will receive a cash award of Rs500,000, second position holders Rs300,000 and Rs200,000 for those standing third. Those securing positions from fourth to tenth will receive Rs100,000 a head.
According to the agency, the candidate must be a national of Pakistan or Azad Jammu and Kashmir, a university student with an upper age limit of 25 years.
The submissions are required to be sent along with a registration form. The students can only participate in either language. The Word count should be between 2,500-3,000.
The deadline for submissions is August 26.

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th Aug, 2022 ) :Higher education Commission ( HEC ) in collaboration with Ministry of Planning, Development and Special Initiatives is holding Inter-university Essay Writing Competition in urdu & English language in order to commemorate 75th anniversary of Pakistan .
According to official sources from HEC , the essay writing competition is aimed at sensitizing the Pakistani youth to analyze opportunities & challenges faced by the country and identify their role in development of Pakistan through critical thinking, creativity and productive engagement.
The deadline for submission of Essay is August 26, 2022. It is a great opportunity for the youth to demonstrate their extra ordinary writing skills and win national awards.
As per details, the essay topic in English including, Development Journey of Pakistan from 1947 to 2022; Lessons Learnt viz-a-viz Other Countries, Pakistan at 2047: National Youth Aspirations.
Similarly, the essay topics in Urdu including Pakistan ki Tarraqi ka safar (1947-2022): Taraqi pazeer mamalak say taqabli jaiza. The second topic is 2047 ka Pakistan : Nasl-e-Noh ki Umangain.
HEC announced prizes for both English & Urdu winners including 1st Position Rs. 500,000, 2nd Position Rs. 300,000, 3rd Position Rs. 200,000 and 4th -10th Position Rs. 100,000 (each).
The eligibility criteria to apply for the Essay Writing Competition is that the candidate must be Pakistani / AJK citizen, must be regular university student with maximum age limit of 25 years.
The essay should be submitted with duly filled registration form.? The students can participate only in one language (English or Urdu). Word Count for the essay should be between 2500-3000 words.
However, English Essay must be typed in 'Times New Roman' size 12, Line spacing 1.5 & Converted to pdf file, while Urdu Essay must be typed and converted to pdf file.
It is worth mentioning here that HEC reserves the right to reject any or all entries without assigning any reason.

- The WHA is pleased to announce that Sharon Besong of Jewels International School of Kinshasa is the winner of the 2024 World Historian Essay Competition for her outstanding essay, "World History: The Machine that Produces Our Future." Congratulations, Sharon!
Application Instructions:
The World Historian Student Essay Competition is an international competition open to students enrolled in grades K–12 in public, private, and parochial schools, and those in home-study programs. Membership in the World History Association is not a requirement for submission. Past winners may not compete in the same category again. Finalist essays will be checked against AI internet components and will be automatically disqualified should stock answers be detected.
The World History Association established this $500 prize to recognize young scholars. A one-year membership in the WHA will also be included with each prize.
Each competitor will submit an essay that addresses one of the following topics and discuss how it relates to you personally and to World History: Your view of a family story related to a historical event or your personal family cultural background, or an issue of personal relevance or specific regional history/knowledge, such as "My ancestor walked with Abraham Lincoln from Illinois to fight in the Black Hawk War of 1832."
The committee will judge papers according to the following criteria:
- clear thesis;
- elaboration on the thesis with specific, concrete, personal example(s);
- evidence of critical-thinking, such as synthesis and evaluation, when reflecting on the essay question;
- organization and fluency; and
- overall effectiveness of the student’s ability to communicate his or her personal connection with the study of world history—in other words, how well has the student described the experience of being changed by a better understanding of world history?

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
Length & format.
Length: Submissions for the K–12 World Historian Award should be approximately 1,000 words.
Formatting: Number all pages except for the title page. All pages are to be double-spaced. Use 12-point Times New Roman Font. Margins are to be 1 inch left and right, and top and bottom.
Submissions must be composed in Microsoft Word.
The author’s identity is to appear nowhere on the paper.
A separate, unattached page should accompany the paper, identifying the author, title of paper, home address, telephone number, e-mail address, and name of school.
Papers that do not adhere to these guidelines will be disqualified.
Entries must be emailed or postmarked by the annual deadline of 1 May.
Winning papers will be announced during the summer.
The WHA reserves the right to publish in the World History Bulletin any essay (or portion thereof) submitted to the competition. It will do so solely at its discretion, but full acknowledgment of authorship will be given. If someone’s essay is published in whole or in part, the author will receive three (3) copies of the Bulletin.

- the paper, and

Eduvision Essay Writing Competition 2024
Eduvision announces Essay Writing Competition 2024 for students aged between 14 to 18 years. Students from all over Pakistan can participate in the competition. 600 to 700 words essay on the topic of "What is the greatest virtue" written in Urdu or English may be sent to eduvision through courier or normal post before June 01, 2024.
The result of the competition will be announced on July 01, 2024. The top three position holders will receive an award of PKR: 10,000/-, PKR: 5,000 and pkr: 3,000/- each. An online training workshop will be arranged for the participants. Certificates of honor will be given to all the students who participated in the competition.
- First Prize: Rs.10000
- Second Prize: 5000 rupees
- Third Prize: 3000 rupees
Last date of submission is 01 June 2024.
Terms & Conditions
- Essay should contain 600 to 700 words.
- Essay should be in Urdu or English language.
- Articles must arrive before the due date.
- Essay should be written on A4 size paper
Eligibility
To participate in the competition, the age of male and female students should be between 14 to 18 years.
An online workshop will be conducted exclusively on "Essay Writing" by Career Counselor Yusuf Almas for all the students participating in the competition.

Pakistan: 5th Bilingual Essay Writing Competition launched The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Pakistan is pleased to announce the 5th edition of the annual Bilingual Essay Writing Competition.  CPEC 10 years essay contest to help strengthen corridor’s narrative, says Zhao Shiren LAHORE-Chinese Consul General Lahore Zhao Shiren has said that in order to keep the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) narrative right and well, holding of essay competitions and similar such programmes plays a decisive role in nurturing positive mind-making. He vowed to continue such activity in future with conviviality. He expressed these views on the conclusion of 30-day nation-wide essay competition held in connection with completion of CPEC 10 years and its grassroot impacts in collaboration with Chinese Consulate Lahore and Institute of International Relations and Media Research (IIRMR). In a ceremony held at IIRMR office Lahore, jury announced top five winners and awarded cash prizes to them. Participants shared their insight and intellectual perceptions on the subject of China Pakistan Economic Corridor, its contribution in public sphere, role in modern skills enhancement, role in job creation, merits and demerits in the well-being of common man, youth and women empowerment and those unexplored areas that may help incentivise all and sundry to grow and flourish in new era. In essay competition, around 50 percent male students and 48 percent female students participated. Approximately 50 educational institutions including colleges and universities took part.
