Healthy Lifestyle “ਸਿਹਤਮੰਦ ਜੀਵਨਸ਼ੈਲੀ” Punjabi Essay, Paragraph for Class 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 Students.

Healthy Lifestyle

Follow a healthy diet plan.

Wake up early

Sleep on time.

Put your mobile aside.

Connect with positive minds.

Eat your meals on time.

Follow your interest.

South Asian Heritage Month: Growing up with Punjabi Culture

Morton Fraser Trainee Solicitor Simon Roudh

Simon Roudh

As South Asian Heritage Month unfolds with amazing ‘ Stories to Tell ’ told by others connected to South Asian culture, I, a grandchild of migrants from Punjab, India who settled in the United Kingdom (UK) in the 1950s, would like to share my personal story on the valued aspects of my cultural heritage.

I was born and raised in a home where the echoes of my grandparents’ homeland reverberated – a homeland in which the upheaval caused by the partition of the Punjab in 1947 , where my grandparents’ families were uprooted from West Punjab (now modern-day Pakistan following partition) to East Punjab in India, compelled them to leave in search of a better life.

I often celebrate the invaluable gift bestowed upon me by my grandparents - a rich blend of culture, language, and lifestyle that has shaped every aspect of my identity.

Being brought up in a culture where the principal tenet is ‘respect your elders’, I grew up very much in the embrace of my grandparents. Our home, was therefore, one of tradition and warmth. Growing up, I was brought up with a large family, dad being one of eight children and I had many cousins. I recall during my childhood spending a lot of time with the whole family together at our grandparents' home, especially during one of the many festivals we celebrate. Our grandparents' home was never without the mouth-watering aroma of Punjabi cuisine wafting through the air; it was also never without someone in the family singing Punjabi folk songs alongside my grandad (or his grandchildren who he taught) playing the ‘Dholki’ (a drum originating from Northern India) that he had mastered at an early age in Punjab.

Against the backdrop of the then recent atrocities of partition and uprooting, my grandad first ventured alone to Scotland leaving his wife and four children behind in search of a new life. He first arrived in Edinburgh, spent some time in Aberdeen and then not long after settled in Leith, Edinburgh. I suspect for my grandad, a Sikh Punjabi wearing his ‘pagh’ (turban), that arriving in Scotland alone with no knowledge of English (least of all Scots) and the prospect of having to adapt to a new culture would have been a daunting one.

When my grandad managed to bring over his wife and children, he and my grandmother were faced with the complexities of adapting to and bringing up their children in a new culture while striving to preserve their roots. However, the newly established Gurdwara in Edinburgh (for which my grandparents recently received a posthumous commemorative award recognising their contributions made to the Edinburgh Sangat (community)) and the tight-knit Punjabi Sikh community provided a sense of familiarity and solace amid the unfamiliarity.

I suspect in those days, there were no widely available English as a foreign language courses, so my grandparents did not learn to communicate in English very well. As a result, Punjabi, my grandparents' mother tongue, became my first language which connects me directly to my ancestral roots. I feel blessed to have grown up speaking it, especially as a means to have connected with my grandparents but to continue to connect with my South Asian heritage. It is an aspect of my heritage I hope to pass on to the generations in my family to come.

Having been born and bred in Leith, Edinburgh and having a lot of family based across the UK, I was lucky to have the opportunity to embrace my Punjabi culture as well as the culture of Scotland and the wider UK. From celebrating Vaisakhi with the local Sikh community or in other parts of the UK, attending the local South Asian Melas, to getting involved with Burn’s Night and Easter and Christmas celebrations, I embraced the diversity while holding my heritage close to my heart. It seems that my grandad was of similar mind in that he was part of a musical group formed of members of the Sikh Community in Edinburgh performing at the Leith Festival in 1971, also embracing the diversity while always holding his roots close to his heart (see below attached photo with my grandad holding a ‘Dholki’).

Leith Festival 1971

From left to right:

1st row Gurbachan Singh Bhaker, Swaran Singh Roudh ("Tagge Shah") , Sapuran Singh Bhai, Jaswant Singh Bhai.

2nd row: Ronak Singh Rathour, Kuldip Singh Bhaker, Karnel Singh Landa, Swaran Singh Kusbia.

3rd row: Mewa Singh Bhai, Lehna Singh Bhaker, Ryminder Singh Digwa and Kartar Singh Landa.

Despite embracing my heritage over the years, and now being relatively well travelled and having lived in a few different countries in Europe, it shocks people to hear that I have never been to Punjab; that I have never been to any other part of India; nor have I been to Asia – not yet in any case. But I am very much looking forward to the day I step foot on the soil where my grandparents and my dad came from and I hope that it further strengthens the already strong connection I feel to Punjabi culture.

My family’s story of resilience and fortitude during their migration journey and their ability to assimilate into a new culture and be successful has left an indelible mark on my character. Each of their successes lay in pushing the boundaries in whatever line of work they pursued. My dad was a culinary genius with novel ideas of fusion of Punjabi cuisine with food from other cultures. He had several successful eating establishments over the years. My grandad on the other hand was a shopkeeper of a local convenience store for many years after having been a door-to-door salesman upon arriving in Scotland.

So, neither of them was a doctor, engineer, or a lawyer and neither was anyone else in our family, but their wisdom and guidance shaped my perspective on life, instilling values of gratitude, compassion, hard work and determination and perseverance. These values put into practice helped me to be the first in the family to go to university while in employment and to then go onto qualify as the first solicitor in our family. Sadly, neither my grandad, nor my father got to see me qualify as a solicitor, but I know they would be proud of me and what I have achieved against all odds. In short, South Asian Heritage Month serves as a reminder of the importance of preserving and sharing our heritage with pride as well as fostering a sense of unity among South Asian diaspora worldwide with a relatable story.

Healthy Punjabi Diet Plan For Weight Loss!

Table of content, can punjabi food be tasty and still healthy, cooking in clay pot's and tandoor's:, local produce:, but why is over 40% of punjab overweight, what about punjabi food could be so bad though, why ditch the dairy and meat completely, where can i find dairy alternatives.

Yes! I have included a sample meal plan at the end pf this blog to prove the same to you!

Full of life, robust and rich- these adjectives pretty much sum up Punjabi khana and Punjabis. As you know, the Punjabi menu is all about hearty spices, ingredients, and bold textures. The mere thought of the delicious cuisine makes us drool as we sit down to eat and enjoy a glass of chaanch or lassi. Well, that’s Punjab for you!

The heart of India’s seasonal abundance presents varieties of lip-smacking food. it is incomplete without the generous servings of milk, curd, butter ( makkhan ), and cream.

But, But, but, does the food that fills our hearts and tummies with happy hormones can make us shed kilos? Of course, it can. That is because Punjabi food is not confined to masala lassi, dal/paneer makhni and butter chicken.

I feel restaurants are to be blamed partially as they have glorified only the fat-laden foods of Punjabi cuisine.

Trust me when I say that Punjabi cuisine can actually be healthy too and excellent for fat loss.

Before we go any further, have you already watched my top three lifestyle tips for fat loss? Please watch the same first. Just making the below changes will help you lose 5 00- 600 calories daily without the need to 'diet '. Please pay close attention as we will be using these changes to help with your fat loss goals along with a detailed diet chart:

The food fiesta in Punjab involves items made in an open fire (tandoor) and clay pots. This is essential as it takes away the toxins coming in from cooking in non- stick or plastic. But even more important is that minerals and vitamins remain intact as you cook them. This is probably way the Golden Temple langar actually tastes sweeter than anywhere else.

It is important to choose the right marination that is low in oil's and ghee though. Not adding too much sodium (salt) is also important to keep blood pressure levels in check.

There is another aspect of the Punjabi cuisine that impresses me a lot. It is cooking in handis or clay pots. A strict Indian Punjabi diet involves food cooked in handis with retianed heat and moisture.

For instance, daal/sabzi, cooked in a handi retain sulphur, magnesium, iron, phosphorus and other compounds. Our body benefits from such food as clay pots balance the PH level of a food item . Hence the food has an alkaline nature rather than an acidic one.

Punjab is also known for the delicious pickles made from diverse veggies. And pickles made in less oil contain beneficial bacteria that reduce the digestion time.

Remember Punjabi food can be just as nutritious and low calorie, if you simplify it. How? With lots of pulses, less salt, spices, and minimal oil! Read on to know the facts I share about Punjabi food and its effectiveness for weight loss.

Punjab (the country's breadbasket) has good soil composition. It is thus regarded as one of the most prosperous Indian states. The high nitrogen content in the soil helps the state grow the best quality grains, lentils, and beans.

The chole (chickpeas) is low in calories and high in protein and fiber. It is one of the best sources of iron, magnesium, potassium, and folate. Therefore, this protein intake can help you lose weight faster . They also control intestinal microbial composition for good intestinal health.

Masoor dal (red lentils) has high polyphenol content that reduces the incidence of cancers, diabetes, obesity, and other diseases. It is rich in carbohydrates that make you feel full and slows down the digestion process ; hence you lose weight.

Soya bean and kidney beans ( rajma ) enhance satiety and reduce hunger . They help you with weight loss as beans have significant amounts of fiber and a bunch of vitamins.

You can sprout these lentils and pulses for a healthy snack.

The “lentil effect” helps in weight loss. The lentil effect phenomenon says that adding lentils to any meals cuts its insulin spike not only for that meal but also for the next meal you have.

More than 40 percent of Punjabi population is overweight. Under half of the population has a high risk of contracting diabetes and kidney ailments. The first-of-its-kind survey conducted by the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research and Punjab was a telltale one.

As per the study, 2/5 of the state has been found to be obese. More than 1/5 th of Punjab’s adult population had increased triglyceride level.

A shocking 96% consume less than recommended 5 servings of fruits and vegetables daily. What's worse? About 27 percent of people are alcoholics and regular drinkers!

Punjabi food is all about Makhan (butter), ghee (clarified butter), paneer (a soft cottage cheese ), dahi (yogurt), malai (cream), and lassi (buttermilk). Watch this to understand why this is harmful:

Most of the Punjabi food has an overindulgence of makkhan and ghee . Daal is incomplete without ghee ka Tarka in a Punjabi household. And a simple bread-like aloo ka paratha that can be made healthy, has a massive dollop of makhhan.

Do we really need ghee and milk for our health though? Absolutely not. Dairy consumption has been associated with elevated body fat, cholesterol and diabetes. Read the below article for more:

  • Milk- is it slowly poisoning you?

You see why you are on the other side of the weighing scale? The fastest solution to drop your weight is to ditch fad diet's, drop dairy and try a Vegan diet!

Fill your plates with bhindi ki sabzi, aloo gobhi, rajma and chole . Have missi roti, makai ki roti and sarso saag without makhhan of course!

If you miss desserts then avoid rasmalais, jalebis, and imartis. Rather go for fruit based desserts with nuts and seeds.

  • Because milk and milk products trigger Type-1 diabetes . The protein found in milk destroys the insulin-producing cells. It also may reduce autoimmunity development.
  • Dairy food is associated with infertility due to the sudden hormonal fluctuations in the body. Dairy cows are given estrogen and growth hormone injections and all of this makes its way into your body.
  • Paneer usually comes from artificially inseminated cows and has traces of pus and manure.
  • Meat coupled with dairy or separately causes cancer. In fact, animal-based proteins increase tumor development . While plant-based proteins decrease tumors.
  • Dairy consumption has shown an increase in prostate cancer , rectal, breast, and colon cancer probability consistently.

And no, you do not become less of a foodie if your plate is missing generous amounts of butter chicken. Include cashew cream instead of dairy cream and nut milk instead of cow's milk. There are multiple options available if you look.

Without the dairy and meat, I have food that is as delicious as yours. In fact, mine tastes better ;)

Meat has no flavor. Have you ever tried eating raw meat? No right? But you do have raw moolis , mangoes, and mosambis ? Do you get what I am talking about? Plants and plant-based foods are not just healthy, but each one of them has a distinct taste.

Annar (pomegranate) tastes different than anananas (pineapple)!

Therefore try to make a rainbow of fresh fruits and veggies. If you see anything growing on the trees, pluck it and eat it. Try every color and flavor from the plant kingdom.

punjabi diet for weight loss

Few points to note:

  • Limit oil consumption to less than 1 tbsp per day. Explore oil free cooking. Try and cook paratha's without oil.
  • No dairy at all, no exceptions. You can include dairy alternatives as mentioned below.
  • I insist you include 3- 5 servings of fruits per day and add a raw salad for lunch. Feel free to add an oil free salad dressing.
  • As long as you stick to a whole- food plant- based diet and make the lifestyle changes discussed in the video above, you do not need to restrict calories. Eat as much as you want without over stuffing yourself.
  • Include as many different types of veggies, fruits, grains, lentils and pulses as possible.

Today, more than 60% of Indians are buying non-meat based alternatives.

Try the almond milk over cow milk . I know you may not like it the very first time. Just like we find the store-bought Dahi weird tasting over our Ghar ka bana curd? We do right? But eventually you will enjoy it. You can use the same for chai and coffee. To make your own milk at home, check this video:

And if you are too fond of paneer, then try tofu. Swap a bowl of Matar paneer with matar tofu. It is a great source of protein and rich in all the 9 essential amino acids.

Tofu contains vitamin B1, zinc, copper, magnesium and rich in calcium , iron, and other minerals. It reduces bad cholesterol, helps you watch weight, and even prevents obesity.

Checkout this webpage for many other dairy alternatives including Vegan ghee, butter and cream.

“ Every child born in this world has their own identity which is built and strengthened by various steps according to their culture” (Rundle,A., Shanski, D., 2015). Then, the baby’s shaped by the family, society, traditions and experiences where they raised up. It is also recognized that family has a great impact on the development of the early child after birth and they are considered as their first teachers. There are diverse culture and traditions in this world so that the nurturing of infants are different because they have different ways of upbringing by their families. Child development is based on the developmental sequence of the milestones and they all progress through various patterns in their environment. Similarly, Aboriginal children raised up by following their learning aspects. However, I belong to the Punjabi culture which is different from the Indigenous culture so I have a distinct upbringing as well as childhood learning in my family or community. I will describe the growth of infants in two different cultures such as First Nations and Punjabi.

There are a series of changes occur in every living organism go through from the beginning of life until the end, and these are different in every culture. For example, Indigenous people have different life cycle than Punjabi culture. First Nation people defined their life cycle with specific terms of directions such as north, south, east, and west. Life begins from the east direction as a baby and child in which families welcome their infants and welcome them like a new day. In this stage, babies start making bonds with their caregivers. The youth are considered as south in which they make their own decision for a better life and get the experience of new lessons and challenges for their survival. The west represents the adult who is the ideal people for their family, especially for their children. They provide a positive environment for them so that they become successful in future. The cycle of life is completed at the direction of the north which depicts the elders and during this, the elders might disappear physically, but we remember their words which are beneficial for us and help us to become a good human being. Babies are welcomed by their families when they born and all members try to provide secure attachments to them. They did not describe their life cycle as First Nation people, but I know how the Punjabi masses are going through life because I am raised up in the Punjabi culture. Actually, it is somehow similar to the Indigenous people because there are the same stages of life start from the baby, young, adult and end at the elders. During the first stage of life, caregivers are responsible for the development of the child and they need to provide a safe and secure environment to the baby for his proper growth so that baby can make a positive bond with them. Then they are able to face various challenges and learn new experience from them for the easy-going throughout life. It helps them to make themselves a role model for their future generations and hence their vibes always remain still alive in the families hearts even if they are not physically present.

Prenatal care has a great impact on the five domains of child development in which the pregnant woman has to be a concerned with the wellness of the infants. It is very crucial in every culture whether Punjabi or Aboriginal. We all know that babies are very sensitive and when they start growing physically in the mother,s womb the outside environment also affects them. There are many things that are essential for the lady during pregnancy such as a balanced diet, stress, environment and behavior. Proper nutrition is the basic block for the care of the baby in the womb because they totally depend on their mother. The mother should not contain any kind of drugs such as alcohol, smoking or marijuana, if they do this it may have an impact on the infants. There is a lot of evidence given by the scientists that around 50% of babies are born with diseases just because of the alcohol and smoke conserved by pregnant women. The family member and mother make sure that they are responsible for the protection and care of the baby so that they should create a positive and stress-free environment around the baby in the womb and the mother needs to stay without tense for her baby growth.

Babies are like diamonds for their families and it is very common when the newborn comes into this world they all are in full of happiness as well as thankful to the Creator and it happens in every culture. In the Early Childhood Education program, I came to know that parents or caregivers play an important role in the growth of infants. In Punjab, the name of the baby is taken from the holy book of the Sikh religion and there is one ceremony held by the family after one and half months of the birth of the baby when they introduce him to the community or relatives. The safe environment should be provided by the parents to the infants and make sure they fulfill the needs of the baby as we all know they are not able to speak. They express their emotions through five senses such as touch, smell, hear, sucking and seeing. I remembered that when my brother was a baby who is younger than me my mother always tried to made him happy and want to make close interactions with him. There is no special equipment used by the caregivers for the baby, they just hold the kids in their laps when they go outside which also helps in strengthening the bond between them.

On the other hand, there are different traditions followed by the First Nation masses for nurturing the baby. They also held the baby naming ceremony after birth to introduce the baby in society. The parents also responsible for their child progress and understand them that what they need or what is the reason behind their crying. There are distinct kinds of tools they use to promote the healthy growth of the baby. For instance, they use moss bag instead of diapers because the baby feel more comfortable in it and after it, they use a cradleboard for the baby and it helps them to explore the world through their senses as well as a strong bond with the parents. These practices have a contribution to healthy child development (Best Start Resource Centre, 2011).

Toddlers are very sensitive to learning and they also ready to explore the things in the environment. In this stage, children observe the activities occur around them and they follow them and their parents expect only positive learning or attitude from them for their success.

During my childhood, my mother favored healthy eating for me and avoid unhealthy food. She always wished to create safe surroundings for me to enhance my progress of mine. She used to play Punjabi soft music when I was playing and displayed things related to culture. On the other hand, Aboriginal people also use some traditional ways for the blooming of the children such as Moccasins, dancing and drums which help them to engage with the world in a good way.

To conclude, every single parent has a goal that their children will rise and shine in this world and they put enough efforts for the development of the babies in five domains whether they belong to different communities or cultures. They may use their different traditional ways for the upbringing of the infants, but the destination is the same where they want to reach. Parents are like the backbone of their children and they need to make sure that they valued the emotions of their babies and making feel them secure and safe. Indigenous children are same as others so they also have interactions with their caregivers and there is no need to point out them or their cultural beliefs. Respect them and their community so that they do not feel any stress which may in result affect their development.

THIS Is What It’s Like To Grow Up Punjabi (You Know It’s True!)

THIS Is What It’s Like To Grow Up Punjabi (You Know It’s True!)

Growing up in a Punjabi family is an experience of its own kind! We have our fair share of melodrama, emotions and food!! But we also grow up knowing that we have the most large hearted and loving families! Here are a few things you will totally relate to if you grew up in a Punjabi family!

1. No matter which corner of the world you decide to go on a family holiday for, you always, ALWAYS have relatives there.

“Pinki masi’s husband’s brother’s wife’s uncle lives there, na. We have to stay with them!”

2. You have at least one relative called Honey, Pinky, Tiny, Tony, Sunny, Bunny. Come on!

And they’re all in one way or another related to each other too. Mom’s side, dad’s side, doesn’t matter!

3. You understand from a very early age that adding a little “ mirch masala ” to a story never hurt anyone.

The gift of exaggeration has been bestowed upon you very generously. “I was stuck in a jam for 4 hours, you know!” Saying it was only half an hour just doesn’t have the same effect!

4. You were always one of the chubbiest kids in class growing up! Aww *Pulls cheeks*

Arre, you are from a khaata peeta khaandaan.

5. And even now, if you’re not at least 5 kgs above your desired weight, your grandparents insist that you’re looking “Sookhi hui aur kamzor” !

As long as they don’t say that you’re looking “healthy”, it’s all good! Because, well, you know what “healthy” means.

6. Emotions run high. Very high! Get geared to wear your heart on your sleeve, child.

A little emotional blackmail, some guilt tripping and tears (both of joy and sorrow) are all part and parcel of a good, healthy Punjabi family.

7. Everyone NEEDS to know everything about each other, and news travels faster than a Concorde.

There is a no-secrets policy. Means that your aunt who lives in Spain and hasn’t met you in years knows about the guy your sister started dating last week. What? News travels!

8. Tikka is god’s gift to mankind.

Chicken tikka , paneer tikka , whatever. As long as it’s tikka !

9. But… chicken does deserve its own special place at the table.

God forbid you think of telling your family you’re vegetarian..

10. And no meal EVER is complete without dessert.

Because even if you’re stuffed, dessert has a completely different compartment in your tummy!

11. You absolutely love kadha parshaad!

It’s the actual reason you sat through that paath with your grandmom.

12. You know better than to think that any celebration can EVER be complete without a Patiala peg!

Or until someone decides to pass out. 😛

13. You know how to partyyyy!

Thanks to all those family get-togethers you were privy to. Thank you older cousins! 😀

14. It’s hard to tell the difference between family and friends!

Your family loves your friends and your friends love your family all in equal measure.

15. You have the most loving and large-hearted family ever!

It may be overwhelming sometimes to have a family who is truly Punjabi, but you know you could never receive as much love and support anywhere else.

8+ Easy Punjabi Phrases For Discussing Mental Health

Punjabi phrases for discussing mental health

In a world where discussions about mental health are becoming increasingly important, it’s crucial to ensure that everyone has access to the support and resources they need, regardless of the language they speak. Punjabi , a vibrant and widely spoken language, is no exception.

On the occasion of World Mental Health Day (October 10th), we’ll explore Punjabi phrases for discussing mental health as part of our #MentalHealthVocabWithLing campaign so as to offer a bridge between therapy services and those who may be experiencing a medical condition. We’ll also discuss the importance of using sensitive language when addressing mental health issues to foster understanding and support.

The Power Of Words In Any Language

Words hold immense power when it comes to discussing mental health. Whether you’re seeking therapy services or simply engaging in a conversation with a friend or family, the words you choose can make a significant difference in how mental health is perceived and addressed. In the Punjabi community, just as in any other, it’s essential to have the right vocabulary to talk about these matters sensitively.

Punjabi Words Related To Mental Health

Before delving into Punjabi phrases for discussing mental health, let’s build a foundation with some key Punjabi words related to mental well-being.

Punjabi phrases for discussing mental health

Use Sensitive Language For Mental Health Conversations

When discussing mental health, it’s crucial to use language that is compassionate and empathetic. Here are some tips on using sensitive language when talking to someone going through mental health issues:

  • Avoid Stigmatizing Terms: Steer clear of stigmatizing terms like crazy or insane (Pāgala – ਪਾਗਲ). Instead, use neutral and respectful language.
  • Use Person-First Language: Put the person before their medical condition. For example, say “a person with depression” rather than “a depressed person.”
  • Be Supportive and Non-Judgmental: Let the person know that you’re there for them without judgment and without encroaching upon their personal space. Use phrases like, “I’m here to listen” (Maiṁ tuhānū suṇana la’ī ithē hāṁ) or “I care about your well-being” (Mainū tuhāḍī bhalā’ī dī paravāha hai).
  • Respect Their Preferences: Everyone’s comfort level with discussing mental health varies. Respect their choice to share or not share their experiences.
  • Educate Yourself: Familiarize yourself with common mental health conditions and their symptoms to better understand and support those in need.

Punjabi Phrases For Discussing Mental Health

Now that we have some basic Punjabi words related to mental health, let’s explore Punjabi phrases you can use to discuss mental well-being.

Incorporating these phrases into your conversations can make a significant difference in supporting those who may be experiencing mental health challenges in the Punjabi-speaking community.

In this blog post, we’ve explored Punjabi phrases for discussing mental health and medical conditions. We’ve emphasized the importance of using sensitive language when addressing these matters to develop understanding and support.

It is good to remember that mental health is a universal concern, and having the right vocabulary in any language, including Punjabi, can help break down barriers and create a more inclusive and compassionate society. So, let’s continue to spread awareness, offer support, and use words that heal.

Agricultural Sustainability in Punjab: A Way Forward

Punjab is an agriculturally strategic state of India. However, its agricultural sector is currently passing through a critical phase where the natural resources are depleting, yields are stagnating, and farm incomes are falling. A continued reliance on wheat and rice (paddy) production and overdependence on underground water resources have raised questions about the sustainability of agriculture in Punjab. The current cropping patterns, which are heavily dependent on wheat and rice, are highly intensive with low diversity potentially undermining overall agricultural sustainability of the state. A reduced crop diversity mainly in the kharif season with a focus on rice intensification and a regime of free-of-cost electricity supply to farm sector have had an adverse effect on groundwater resources while an overdose of fertilizers and pesticides and over-capitalized farm machinery have undermined the economic sustainability of Punjab’s farm enterprises. From a policy perspective, crop diversification policies in Punjab need to be more practical and pragmatic providing alternative sets of crops to farmers which can economically complete with wheat and rice. Like Haryana, Punjab government can rationalize rice cultivation and/or disseminate alternative methods of rice cultivation avoiding flood irrigation in the central zone where groundwater depletion rates are very high. In the post COVID-19 phase, Punjab government might consider promoting rural agribusiness, i.e. food processing, fine-tuning the current agricultural marketing systems, and rationalizing the current regime of electricity subsidy to farm sector to improve the overall agricultural sustainability in Punjab.

200 Words Essay On Healthy Lifestyle

Practically everyone, including publications, social media sites, and television, uses the term healthy lifestyle. Through these channels, the need of living a healthy lifestyle is emphasised, yet individuals continue to lead unhealthier lifestyles and ultimately pay the price for it. Living a healthy lifestyle is essential to our daily lives. Having good eating habits, getting enough sleep, and fitting in some physical activity each day are the essential components of a healthy lifestyle. However, the majority of individuals disregard their health in favour of their everyday obligations. The worst thing you can do to yourself is to ignore your health. Many individuals only become aware of this after experiencing health problems.

It's time for people to realise how crucial good health is and how only being healthy will allow us to work effectively on other elements of our life. Just a few little adjustments to the daily schedule are needed to develop these healthy behaviours. Once these modifications become habits, you will soon be living a healthy lifestyle.

To prevent such health problems later in life, it is preferable to set aside some time to practise the healthy behaviours discussed above while you are still young and active.

500 Words Essay On Healthy Lifestyle

It is simple to develop unhealthy habits, but it takes some work to undo them and adopt a healthy lifestyle. Despite how frequently the significance of leading a healthy lifestyle has been emphasised, few people take it seriously. Even those who want to follow it to better their way of life often fail since it requires a lot of willpower to do so. Instead of going overboard, it is advised to take things slowly. Over time, this will assist you in achieving your objective. Here are some tips for creating wholesome habits and leading a healthy lifestyle.

Avoid Bad Habits

Smoking | To live a healthy lifestyle, you must first give up smoking and any other tobacco products to which you may be hooked. It is evident that this cannot be done in a single day and would not be simple. It is advised to seek expert assistance to stop doing the same over time.

Alcohol Numerous health problems might result from excessive drinking. If you are addicted to it, it is advised that you seek professional assistance as well as support from your friends and family to break the habit.

Fast Food | These days, ordering takeaway and eating junk for most of the week has almost become religious. It's time to reduce your consumption of fast food and replace it with wholesome home-cooked meals. You will maintain your health and physical fitness by doing this.

Screen Dependence | Nowadays, the majority of individuals are addicted to their phone displays. You need to stop doing this harmful practice right away. You also need to refrain from watching too much TV or using the computer for too long.

Avoiding Meals- | Nowadays, a lot of individuals choose to skip meals because they are so preoccupied with their work. The majority of people are often busy in the morning, therefore there is a propensity to skip breakfast to fit in other responsibilities. The harshest punishment you can ever give your body is this.

Overusing medication | Many individuals search for quick fixes to ease their physical and emotional suffering, and taking a pill or two is one certain solution. For these individuals, painkillers work best, but it is important to understand that they only provide brief comfort and may have harmful side effects.

It's time to adopt healthy routines. Knowing the behaviours to avoid can help you take steps to stop doing them and replace them with healthy ones. You may take the following actions in this direction:

Restrict your interactions with those who smoke, drink, or engage in other harmful behaviours.

Remind yourself of the advantages of living healthfully.

Do your best to surround yourself with individuals who live the lifestyle you want.

Spend your spare time engaging in your interests and activities so you won't have time for bad habits.

Engage in physical activity to encourage endorphin production. This is a fantastic method to avoid stress and all of its harmful effects.

A balanced diet, regular exercise, sufficient sleep, happiness, and optimism all contribute to a healthy lifestyle. We are living well when we maintain a healthy lifestyle. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle is crucial for your happiness now and in the future.
