The Telugu crime thriller genre took a new turn with the success of “Hit”. Seeing the craze for it, the makers of “Hit” have decided to make it a franchise and thus came the second installment “Hit 2: Second Case.” Adivi Sesh has already become popular for this kind of thrillers. So, naturally, “HIT 2” generated excitement and buzz.

Let’s find out how this film has shaped up.

Story: KD (Adivi Sesh) is a police officer in Vizag's Homicide Department. He is in a relationship with Aarya, a social worker (Meenakshii Chaudhary). Sanjana, a pub employee, is brutally murdered. KD and his team discover that the only head is Sanjana's, and the rest of the body parts belong to different women. A serial killer is on the loose.

KD's further investigation reveals that many women were also killed, and all of the women were linked to a women's organisation that Aarya is assisting.

Who was responsible for such heinous crimes? Why has the killer developed such disgust for women?

Artistes’ Performances: It has already been established that Adivi Sesh possesses the skills and personality required for such thrillers. As an investigative officer, he not only fits in well, but he also performs admirably to keep us engaged throughout. He also controls the film at times.

Meenakshii Chaudhary's character is forgettable. Komalee Prasad's role as Adivi Sesh's assistant is neat. Suhaas is quite impressive. The character of Rao Ramesh does not have much impact.

Other actors, such as Harsha Vardhan, play important roles in the story but are given limited screen time.

Technical Excellence: The film is set in Vizag, and instead of focusing on the usual beauty of the beach city, cinematographer S Manikandan captures the mood required for crime thrillers. His work is excellent.

The songs (composed by Sreelekha and Bobbili) aren't enjoyable, but the background music by John Stewart Eduri is. It sets the right tone and adds a touch of eeriness. The editing is sharp.

Drawback: The usual tropes of thrillers Lack of exceptional sequences

Analysis "HIT 2" is the second instalment in the series, and a third is on the way. So, director Sailesh Kolanu has created a universe for the franchise by including sequences from the first film and ending the film with a lead to the third. This demonstrates how confident the director and team are in the content they have in their hands. The film, true to their confidence, holds our attention until the end, thanks to its gripping narrative and concise length.

The film, like the first, revolves around an investigative officer attempting to solve a murder case. It's not just one murder here. The protagonist's mission is to find a serial killer who only kills women. So, the film begins with the establishment of the protagonist's job in Vizag and a gruesome murder.

The film follows the protagonist as he attempts to solve the case while also suspecting innocent people. One interesting thing the writing and directing team did with this film was to reveal the killer early on. However, director Kolanu has successfully kept our attention until the end in order to reveal the true identity of the killer.

Despite some repetition in the screenplay, the intensive narrative keeps the audience's attention. The second half of such thrillers is crucial, and the film succeeds here. The first clue of dental marks in the first murder is correctly linked in the end.

The film has one interesting episode that keeps the audience interested. It is a suspect's encounter. This section is handled superbly.

On the negative side, the film contains some disturbing images. These images are both gruesome and graphic violence. A close depiction like this should have been avoided. And the thread connecting Meenakshii and Adivi Sesh is uninteresting. Meenakshi's mother role serves little purpose. Rao Ramesh's role is also underdeveloped. There are also some loose sequences.

Overall, "Hit 2" is a solid investigative thriller that checks all the boxes. Despite its flaws, the film maintains viewer interest throughout. It nearly hits the target.

What’s it about?

Krishna Dev, also known as KD (Adivi Sesh), is a police officer in Vizag who takes on a murder case. His group unearths the mutilated body of Sanjana, a girl working in a pub. The murderer also killed three other women in addition to Sanjana, as KD and his team soon discover through their investigation.

As he gets closer to the serial killer in his investigation, he puts the life of his girlfriend (Meenakshii) in danger. Will KD be able to identify the real murderer? Can he rescue her from the serial killer’s clutches?

“HIT” refers to the Homicide Intervention Team. The first instalment, starring Vishwak Sen, took place in Hyderabad and focused on the disappearance of a young woman (Telangana). HIT 2, the sequel, is set in Vizag, Andhra Pradesh, and opens with the murder of a young woman. Adivi Sesh, who has become the standard bearer for high-quality thrillers in Telugu cinema, stars in the sequel.

The story of “HIT 2” is standard fare for the genre and features some surprises as well. The prologue and the serial murders are established early on in the story’s first act. The prologue keeps the audience guessing until the end to see how they (the main killings and the first scene) are related. Sailesh Kolanu, the film’s director, makes shrewd use of this narrative device to maintain interest and polishes it to perfection.

Who did it, and why did it happen? These are the central questions at the heart of any good thriller. The first part focuses on the hero’s investigation into who committed the murders. In the final act, we learn the killer’s motivation and background. While the film’s first murderer may be obvious to some viewers, the director manages to keep them guessing until the film’s climactic third act.

The cinematic universe that this franchise needs is also created by Sailesh Kolanu. There are connections between Vishwak Sen’s case (the first part) and the current murder case. This ingenious combination (like Lokesh Kanagaraju did with ‘Vikram’ by including references to ‘Khaidi) is what makes the film so engaging.

With the aspect of extrajudicial killing, the thriller takes an intriguing turn midway through.

As has been mentioned, Sailesh Kolanu largely sticks to the conventions of the genre and also includes the standard red herrings. Despite some dull parts—like the romance between Meenakshi and Adivi Sesh or the interactions between Adivi Sesh and the media—his tightly focused narrative helps the film reach its target.

Aspects of this thriller may be predictable for those who watched a lot of thrillers and serial killer movies on OTT during the pandemic. However, they do not significantly dilute the film’s strength.

Despite the genre and plot constraints, director Sailesh and lead actor Adivi Sesh manage to keep us interested. Adivi Sesh is fantastic in the role of detective. He’s a natural fit for the part. He is a pro at playing such roles.

Actors Suhaas and Komalee stand out among the rest. Meenakshii, the film’s heroine, is a flat character. And so is Rao Ramesh.

Cinematographer Manikandan’s competent work and editor Garry’s sharp cuts help the film immensely. As an added bonus, the score in the background works wonderfully.

As a writer and director Kolanu shows his mark. The film also ends with the reveal about the third part.

Bottom-line: Overall, “Hit 2” is a neat investigation thriller that makes good use of common conventions in the genre. Despite minor issues, the movie is engaging all the way through. Once again, Adivi Sesh shows his mark. And the franchise continues.

క‌థేమిటంటే?

కృష్ణ‌దేవ్ అలియాస్ కేడీ (అడివి శేష్ ) ఓ యువ ఐపీఎస్ అధికారి.  విశాఖ‌ప‌ట్నం ఎస్పీగా విధుల్లో చేర‌తాడు.  క్రిమిన‌ల్స్‌వి కోడి బుర్ర‌లనీ, వాళ్ల‌ని ప‌ట్టుకోవ‌డం పెద్ద క‌ష్ట‌మేమీ కాద‌ని తేలిగ్గా తీసిపారేస్తుంటాడు.  ఆర్య (మీనాక్షి చౌద‌రి)ని ప్రేమించిన కేడీ ఆమెతో క‌లిసి  జీవితాన్ని ఆరంభిస్తాడు. ఇంత‌లో  విశాఖ‌లోని ఓ ప‌బ్‌లో ఓ అమ్మాయి దారుణ హ‌త్య‌కి గుర‌వుతుంది. చేతులు, కాళ్లూ, మొండెం అన్నీ వేరు చేసి.. దారుణ స్థితిలో ఉన్న ఆ అమ్మాయి మృత‌దేహాన్ని చూసిన కేడీకి.. ప‌రిశోధ‌న‌లో మ‌రో విస్తుపోయే నిజం తెలుస్తుంది. ఆ కాళ్లూ చేతులు, మొండెం ఒక‌రివి కాద‌ని.. మొత్తం న‌లుగురు అమ్మాయిలు హ‌త్య‌కి గుర‌య్యార‌నేది ఆ నిజం.  అమ్మాయి మెడపై ఉన్న పంటిగాటు త‌ప్ప మ‌రే ఆధారం లేకుండా హ‌త్య‌లు చేస్తున్న ఆ కిల్ల‌ర్ ఎవ‌రు?  అమ్మాయిల్ని ఎందుకు టార్గెట్ చేశాడు?  కోడి బుర్ర‌ల‌ని తేలిగ్గా తీసిపారేసిన కేడీకి  కిల్ల‌ర్ ఎలాంటి స‌వాళ్లు విసిరాడ‌నేది తెర‌పై చూడాల్సిందే. (Hit 2 Review)

ఎలా ఉందంటే?

నేరాల ప‌రిశోధ‌న కోసం  ప‌నిచేసే  హోమిసైడ్ ఇంట‌ర్వెన్ష‌న్ టీమ్ (హిట్‌)... అందులో కేస్‌లు, చిక్కుముడుల చుట్టూ ఈ హిట్ సినిమాల ప్ర‌పంచం తిరుగుతోంది. `హిట్‌` సినిమాలో  తొలి కేస్ ప‌రిశోధ‌న కనిపిస్తుంది. అందులో విక్ర‌మ్ రుద్ర‌రాజు (విష్వ‌క్‌సేన్) ఆఫీస‌ర్ కాగా, రెండో కేస్‌కి కృష్ణ‌దేవ్ (అడ‌వి శేష్‌) ఆఫీస‌ర్‌. ఈసారి క‌థంతా విశాఖ‌ప‌ట్నం నేప‌థ్యంలో సాగుతుంది. క్రిమినల్స్‌ని  చాలా సుల‌భంగా తీసుకుంటూ ఆడుతూ పాడుతూ ప‌నిచేసుకుపోయే కేడీ పాత్రతో అడ‌వి శేష్ ప‌రిచ‌యం అవుతాడు. అత‌డి కాన్ఫిడెన్స్‌కి త‌గ్గ‌ట్టుగానే ఓ హ‌త్య కేస్‌ని చిటికెలో క్లోజ్ చేస్తాడు. ప‌బ్‌లో జ‌రిగిన  అమ్మాయి హ‌త్యతోనే అస‌లు సినిమా మొద‌ల‌వుతుంది. అక్క‌డ ఒక అమ్మాయి కాదు,  న‌లుగుర‌మ్మాయిలు హ‌త్య‌కి గుర‌య్యార‌ని తెలిశాక..  అది మ‌రింత లోతుగా  ఉంద‌నే విష‌యం అర్థ‌మ‌వుతుంది.   హ‌త్య చుట్టూ తిరిగే స‌గ‌టు ప‌రిశోధ‌నాత్మ‌క క‌థ‌ల‌కి త‌గ్గట్టే  ర‌క‌ర‌కాల వ్య‌క్తుల‌పై  అనుమానాలు వ్య‌క్తం అవ‌డం, ప‌క్కాగా నిందితుడు ఇత‌డే అనేలా అవి ముందుకు సాగ‌డం, అంత‌లోనే ఊహించ‌ని మ‌లుపు చోటు చేసుకుని అస‌లు నిందితుడు మ‌రొక‌రు ఉన్నార‌ని తేల‌డం... ఇలానే ఉంటుందీ చిత్రం కూడా.

విరామ స‌న్నివేశాల్లో  ఎవ్వ‌రూ ఊహించ‌ని మ‌లుపు చోటు చేసుకుంటుంది. ద్వితీయార్ధంలో ప‌రిశోధ‌న మ‌ళ్లీ కొత్త‌గా మొద‌లైన‌ట్టవుతుంది. ఎలాంటి ఆధారాలు లేకుండా చూసుకుంటూనే... ప‌ట్టు కో చూద్దాం అన్న‌ట్టుగా కిల్ల‌ర్ విసిరే స‌వాళ్లు, మ‌రోప‌క్క డిపార్ట్‌మెంట్ నుంచి పెరిగే ఒత్తిళ్ల మ‌ధ్య ఓ ఆఫీస‌ర్ ప‌రిశోధ‌న ఎలా సాగింద‌నేది కీల‌కం.  పంటి గాటు, దాని చుట్టూ అల్లిన స‌న్నివేశాలు ద్వితీయార్ధంలో కీల‌కం. దాని ఆధారంగానే కేస్ చిక్కుముడిని విప్పే తీరు ఆక‌ట్టుకుంటుంది. ప‌రిశోధ‌నాత్మ‌క క‌థ‌ల్లో హీరో చుట్టూనే ఆధారాలు ఉంటాయి, కానీ వాటిని ప‌సిగ‌ట్ట‌డ‌మే కీల‌కం. ఈ సినిమా కూడా  ఆ సూత్రానికి త‌గ్గ‌ట్టుగానే సాగుతుంది. మూడో కేస్ ప‌రిశోధించ‌డానికి వ‌చ్చే ఆఫీస‌ర్ అర్జున్ స‌ర్కార్‌ని ఇందులో ప‌రిచ‌యం చేయ‌డం కొస‌మెరుపు.  `హిట్‌` ప్ర‌పంచం ఎప్ప‌టిక‌ప్పుడు మ‌రింత పెద్ద‌ద‌వుతుంద‌ని చెప్ప‌డానికి ఆ ఆఫీస‌ర్ పాత్ర‌లో క‌నిపించే క‌థానాయ‌కుడే తార్కాణం.

ఎవ‌రెలా చేశారంటే?

కేడీ పాత్ర‌లో  అడివి శేష్ ఒదిగిపోయాడు. యువ ఐపీఎస్ అధికారికి త‌గ్గ‌ట్టే అత‌డు తెర‌పై క‌నిపించాడు. రొమాంటిక్ స‌న్నివేశాల్లోనూ, అక్క‌డ‌క్క‌డా భావోద్వేగాల‌కి ప్రాధాన్య‌మున్న స‌న్నివేశాల్లోనూ అతడి ప‌నితీరు మెప్పిస్తుంది.  గ‌ర్ల్‌ఫ్రెండ్ ఆర్య పాత్ర‌లో  మీనాక్షి చౌద‌రి  క‌నిపిస్తుంది. ఆమె అందంతో ఆక‌ట్టుకుంటుంది. తోటి అధికారుల పాత్ర‌ల్లో  కోమ‌లి ప్ర‌సాద్‌, శ్రీనాథ్ మాగంటి త‌దిత‌రుల పాత్ర‌లు సినిమాకి కీల‌కం. రావు ర‌మేష్‌, పోసాని కృష్ణ‌ముర‌ళి, త‌నికెళ్ల భ‌ర‌ణి త‌దిత‌రులు చిన్న పాత్ర‌ల్లోనే క‌నిపిస్తారు. సాంకేతికంగా సినిమా ఉన్న‌తంగా ఉంది. ద‌ర్శ‌కుడు శైలేష్ కొల‌ను రెండు సినిమాల అనుభ‌వం ఈ సినిమాకి మ‌రింత‌గా ఉప‌యోగ‌ప‌డింది. క‌థ‌ని మ‌రింత బిగితో న‌డిపించాడు. సైకో పాత్ర‌నీ, అత‌డు ఎందుక‌లా మారాడ‌నే అంశాన్ని మ‌రింత ప్ర‌భావ‌వంతంగా తీర్చిదిద్ద‌డంలోనే కొంచెం అల‌స‌త్వం ప్ర‌ద‌ర్శించిన‌ట్టు అనిపిస్తుంది త‌ప్ప‌, మిగ‌తా  క‌థ‌ని చాలా బాగా తీశాడు.  నిర్మాణం బాగుంది. కెమెరా, సంగీతం, ఎడిటింగ్ విభాగాలు మంచి ప‌నితీరుని క‌న‌బ‌రిచాయి. (Hit 2 Review)

HIT 2 review: Adivi Sesh’s hunt for a serial killer has both shortcomings and impressive moments

Thanks to the seasoned actors, Sailesh Kolanu’s directorial engages the audience despite the cliched murder-mystery pattern and scenes.

Hit: The Second Case , aka HIT 2 — starring Adivi Sesh — released in theatres this Friday, 2 December. It is a sequel to Hit: The First Case (2020), which was a critically acclaimed hit.

With Adivi Sesh becoming more of a household name after his pan-Indian hit Major , HIT 2 attracted quite a lot of attention from movie lovers.

Let’s check if the suspense thriller lives up to the expectations.

Krishna Dev aka KD (Adivi Sesh) is posted as the in-charge of the Homicide Intervention Team in Visakhapatnam.

Soon after taking charge, he is given a high-profile murder case which becomes a sensation across the Telugu states.

Sanjana, a bar manager, is brutally murdered and her body is chopped into pieces.

KD’s investigation reveals that the body parts found at Sanjana’s murder location include those of two other women, making it clear that it is not one murder but three.

The hurdles the team faces while solving the mystery and the motive behind the serial killings form the rest of the story.

What works and what doesn’t

Sailesh Kolanu, who directed Hit: The First Case , is also the director for Hit: The Second Case .

Movies about psycho serial killers are not new to Telugu film lovers. Also, most of the flicks in this genre follow a set pattern, where cops are on the lookout for a criminal who keeps killing because of a painful past.

While Hit 2 follows the same pattern and has several cliches, it also has its moments and manages to impress in some scenes.

However, there are many loose ends in the movie, which raise questions from serious suspense thriller fans, about the way police carry on with the investigation of serial killings.

Sailesh Kolanu should have worked more on the script and made the movie compact and fast-paced.

Actors make up for shortcomings

Adivi Sesh is not new to such characters, and hence he pulled it off with ease.

Meenakshi Chaudhary looks cute as Sesh’s love interest. Komalee Prasad is impressive in the police officer’s role.

Suhas gets a meaty role in this suspense thriller. Actors like Rao Ramesh, Tanikella Bharani, and Posani Krishna Murali appear as supporting cast and do their bit. Being seasoned actors, they all made up for the shortcomings in the script.

Actor Nani also appears in the climax, hinting that he will star in HIT 3 .

Cinematographer S Manikandan does a decent job, while editing by Garry BH is adequate.

MM Srilekha and Suresh Bobbili composed the songs. John Stewart did the background score. The BGM is in tune with the genre.

HIT 2 is a suspense thriller about police hunting a serial killer. This Adivi Sesh-starrer has both shortcomings and impressive moments. It can be watched once.

HIT: The First Case saw intense Vikram Rudraju played by Vishwak Sen. The second case in The HIT Verse is replaced by Krishna Dev aka KD essayed by Adivi Sesh. After a patriotic film Major, Sesh is back to his forte of mystery crime thrillers. He is joined by Sailesh Kolanu. Let’s find out whether it delivers an intriguing experience or not.

KD is challenged by the brutal murder of a girl Sanjana. KD learns that the murderer is a serial killer who killed anonymous girls. KD manhunts for the murderer and he is challenged by the circumstances. Who is the killer? What is the motive of murders? How KD nabs the killer and rescues his girlfriend Aarya (Meenakshi Chaudhary) is the HIT: The Second Case is all about.

Performances :

Adivi Sesh is quite familiar with the setup and genre. So, he naturally gets comfortable in the role of KD. There isn’t much challenge for him either. He acts with ease. Meenakshi Chaudhary is alright as Sesh’s girlfriend. But her role has nothing much to do with the proceedings until the climax. Komalee Prasad as Varsha gets noticed. She is part of the investigation team. Rao Ramesh plays a senior police officer who is KD’s boss. He gets a cliched role. But Rao Ramesh fits the cast and delivers what is required. Suhas gets a camouflaged role. He shines in his part. Maganti Srinath is alright as SP Abhilash, who aids the investigation. Posani is seen as a media reporter. He gets a blink and miss role. Tanikella Bharani plays the victim’s father. Director Sailesh appears as a pub owner. In fact, there are some references to Vikram Rudraraju (Vishwak Sen). Hero Nani, who also happens to be the film’s producer, makes a surprise entry at the end as Arjun Sarkar.

Technicalities

Sailesh picks a simple mystery crime thriller. He delivers what is expected from. Neither more, nor less. Writing is simple and neat. Direction is decent. Manikandan’s visuals are impressive. John Stewart’s background score is intense and works in the film’s favour. Urike Urike romantic number is good. It gives minor relief in this serious film. Editing is slick.

Gory Scenes Rushed Climax

Mystery crime thrillers always have a set of audience. It has its own fan base. After making directorial debut with HIT: The First Case and remaking it in Hindi, Sailesh is back with The Second Case and he gets Sesh as the protagonist. Whodunit thrillers aren’t new. But the setup, tone and cast makes HIT: Second Case demand special attention. Director Sailesh gets it right mostly. Though it’s not an arresting crime thriller, it won’t disappoint either. The film starts with KD’s life and his girl friend Arya. And then the hook scene is the murder of Sanjana.

The initial buildup is so much. Right from Sanjana’s murder to the reveal of the body parts of three other missing girls, the film draws curiosity. It feels like it picked up the pace. There is some tension and hype. It all promises to be a nail-biting and gripping mystery thriller. But it only falters as it proceeds. The nabbing of Raghavudu, suspected murderer, very early of the story indicates he is innocent. It is a predictable point. The real story begins after the Interval block.

The second half is all about whodunit and what was the killer’s motive. But when the killer is revealed and the motive is known, it looks a bit silly. It isn’t convincing enough why the killer chose only specific victims and on what basis he chose them. Even the killer’s past is not so justifying. The back story looks like filler to complete the story. The characteristics and traits of killer and his artistic talent are interesting and add some value overall though.

The investigation portions are what score in HIT: The Second Case. Though Sesh goes overboard at times and appears to be very dominative like in a traditional protagonist in Telugu movies. But it is fine since it delivers to its genre fans. Overall, HIT: Second Case is watchable thriller. The lead to HIT: The Third Case with Nani as the lead actor stands out. It brings so much curiosity on the next installment in the HIT verse.

Bottom-line: Enthralling Thriller

Movie starts with an unfaithful wife (of Harsha Vardhan) thread and slowly shifts to a gruesome murder case being investigated by Vizag SP Krishna Dev (KD). Investigation points to multiple murders being inter linked which catches whole police department’s attention and soon becomes a high profile case and talk of the town. How are these victims connected? How KD solves this serial murder case is rest of the story

On-screen performances:

Adivi Sesh is no stranger to thrillers. He is in his element in the role of a cop who sets out on a mission to unravel the mysterious and gruesome murders of multiple women in his jurisdiction. He carries the right demeanor for the role. He is aptly supported by the likes of Rao Ramesh, Srinath Maganti and Komalee Prasad. Meenakshi Chaudhary as Arya plays love interest of Adivi Sesh and she justifies her role.  Other supporting actors like Tanikella Bharani, Posani, Harsha Vardhan and Suhas did perform well in their roles

Off-screen talent:

The director, Sailesh Kolanu sticks to the subject without deviations. The way he connects women’s empowerment organizations and serial killer’s story is good. There is not much scope for the songs or entertainment (comedy) which shows director’s honest attempt.

The background score is in tune with the nature of the film and the narrative. The cinematography and editing is slick. The dark tonal visual presentation is of good quality. Production designing is adequate.

• Mystery gets revealed (kind of) in mid 2 nd half

Verdict: First half of the movie is good and keeps you engaged with a nice interval bang. Second half starts promisingly but one could easily relate to the serial killer’s thread by mid second half which makes the rest of the movie not so great. Nevertheless, movie is a “Ok” watch given director’s honest effort to stick to the subject and crispy runtime. Movie ends with revealing HIT 3 investigation officer.

First Half Report:  First Half of Hit 2 is decently engaging, it has all the elements of a good thriller. Really depends on second half  if the movie is going to be an edge of the seat crime thriller.

5:30 PM EST :   Investigation begins in the second half, Krishna Dev gets suspended. The culprit keeps on challenging Krishna Dev. 

Final Report: Hit 2 Second half does not follow the same tempo as the first half as audience could easily speculate who could be the culprit in mid second half. Overall the crime mystery thriller Hit 2  makes an okay watch. Keep on checking checking this space for a no spoiler first on net review.

HIT 2 Movie Review In Telugu & Ratings | Hit or Flop?

HIT 2 Movie Review In Telugu : Since HIT: The First Case came out two years ago, fans everywhere have been eagerly waiting for the second one. The movie’s makers have finally given us something, and with the release of the trailer—which, let’s be honest, did a lot more than just get people’s attention—there is a lot of excitement.

The movie came out today, December 2, 2022, as everyone had been waiting for it. Let’s look into this more deeply to figure out if the delay was worth it.

A young police officer in Vizag named KD (Adivi Sesh) is known for his skill at solving hard crimes. But when he starts looking into why Sanjana was killed, he runs into a hard new problem. In the next parts of the story, we will find out if KD is able to solve the case and catch the criminal.

The movie was made by Prashanti Tipirneni and Nani. It was directed by Dr. Sailesh Kolanu and photographed by S. The actors in the movie Manikandan were Adivi Sesh, Meenakshi, Rao Ramesh, Tanikella Bharani, Posani Krishna Murali, Komalee Prasad, Srinath Maganti, and Srikanth Iyengar. The music was made by MM Sree Lekha and Suresh Bobbili.

Movie Verdict

Many people watched HIT-The First Case because of its interesting plot, but the ending was disappointing. As the KD world and story are set up, HIT 2 starts off slowly. The pace slows down in the first half, but there are a few blocks that keep the audience interested, and the bang at the break is pretty good at getting the audience interested in the second half. But when KD takes on the case of “Sanjana’s murder,” the pace goes up and down as the main character looks for clues. This pulls you into the world of HIT 2 and makes you feel like you belong there.

Even though the movie doesn’t have a lot of emotional depth, the suspenseful atmosphere keeps you on the edge of your seat until the end. Because thrillers need fast-paced plots, the slow pace of this movie is a problem. Most of the movie is interesting, so you won’t mind waiting if the second half moves faster.

Even though Adivi Sesh does a good job playing KD, the role doesn’t give him much to work with, and Meenakshi doesn’t get much of a chance to show off her acting skills. This is a big problem with the movie (despite having a good screen presence). Rao Ramesh, Tanikella Bharani, Posani Krishna Murali, Komalee Prasad, Srikanth Iyengar, and Srinath Maganti all did their best in their roles.

Sailesh Kolanu was impressed as a first-time director with HIT: The First Case. The story isn’t new, but he added new scenes that made the movie stand out. With HIT 2, he didn’t try to reinvent himself with a new story, but he kept us interested in the story and the new scenes, which shows how much research he did. Despite the slow pace, he was able to keep the audience’s attention.

Even though S.Manikandan again impresses with his visuals—his framing, blocking, and lighting pull you into the movie and take you on a journey with the plot—HIT 2 could have been better in terms of how it was put together. Stewart Eduri did a great job of making situations more tense, but the tracks by Sree Lekha and Suresh Bobbili don’t live up to expectations. Fans of thrillers should watch HIT 2, which is a great one.

Post the success of  Major  movie, expectations for his next movie HIT 2 have increased and the movie is finally out. Let’s see whether Adivi Sesh can impress again or not.

The movie begins with a brutal murder of a young woman Sanjana in Vizag city. The case is handed over to SP Krishna Dev (Adivi Sesh) an upright and intelligent cop. The games go on the serial killer is on the loose. Finally, Krishna Dev nabs the mystery man behind these killings. But in a tragic turnaround of events, he comes to know that the killer is someone else. Who is the killer? and why is he targeting only women? To know the answers, you should watch the movie.

Plus Points:

Director Sailesh Kolanu who directed this second part of the HIT franchise has narrated it in quite a gripping manner. If Vishwak Sen’s HIT was more investigative, HIT 2 has more emotions, drama, and thrills.

Adivi Sesh is apt as the investigative officer and he still needs to work on emoting in emotional scenes.

The second half of the film is where the actual thrill beings and the director has done a good job of making it engaged. Director Sailesh presented the movie well without any dull moments.

Minus Points:

HIT 2 is a routine serial killer movie and has nothing new to offer. It has a simple and engaging investigation but the wow factor which you expect has gone missing.

The movie begins on a slow note and it takes quite some time to enter the main plot. The villain’s track is revealed superbly but the actor is a bad choice. The killer’s facial expressions were not up to the mark as his role has much scope to perform.

On the whole, HIT 2 is another gripping crime drama with some good thrills and an engaging second half. Though the movie begins on a slow note, once the momentum picks up it keeps you engaged till the end. A decent watch.

HIT 2 Telugu Movie Review : Since the release of HIT: The First Case two years ago, fans all around the world have been eagerly awaiting the follow-up. The movie’s creators have finally delivered, and with the trailer’s release—which, let’s face it, did a lot more than just garner attention—come huge expectations.

Today, December 2, 2022, saw the movie’s highly awaited release. To determine whether the delay was worthwhile, let’s examine it in greater detail.

KD (Adivi Sesh), a young police officer from Vizag, is known for his ability to successfully solve complex crimes. But when he decides to investigate Sanjana’s murder, he faces a challenging new challenge. Whether KD is successful in cracking the case and catching the offender will be revealed in the remaining chapters of the narrative.

The movie, which was produced by Prashanti Tipirneni and Nani, was directed by Dr. Sailesh Kolanu, shot by S. Manikandan, scored by MM Sree Lekha and Suresh Bobbili, and starred Adivi Sesh, Meenakshi, Rao Ramesh, Tanikella Bharani, Posani Krishna Murali, Komalee Prasad, Srinath Maganti, and Srikanth Iyengar.

Movie Verdict

The suspenseful plot of HIT-The First Case enthralled many viewers, but the movie’s climax disappointed them. HIT 2 begins slowly as it develops the universe of KD and the story. The first-half pace dips but it has some blocks that make you invested in the first half, and the interval bang worked out quite well as it makes you curious to watch the second half. However, when KD takes on the case of “Sanjana’s murder,” the pace dips and rises intermittently as the protagonist searches for a clue but then pulls you into the world of HIT 2 and makes you a part of it.

The dramatic mood keeps you hooked to your seat until the finale, which is handled rather nicely despite the film’s lack of emotional depth. The film’s languid narration is a concern because thrillers call for spicy screenplays. Except for a few blocks, the entire movie is interesting, so if the pace quickens in the second half, you won’t mind waiting.

While Adivi Sesh does a good job portraying KD, the role doesn’t present much of a challenge for him to play, and Meenakshi doesn’t get much of a chance to show off her acting skills (despite having good screen presence), which is a significant flaw in the movie. Rao Ramesh, Tanikella Bharani, Posani Krishna Murali, Komalee Prasad, Srinath Maganti, and Srikanth Iyengar all gave their all in the role of the cast members.

Sailesh Kolanu, who dazzled as a debut director with HIT-The first case, though the story is not original, but he gave the movie a distinctive touch with new scenes, and now with HIT 2, where he didn’t try to reinvent himself with a new story but he engaged us with the narrative and the new scenes as it clearly shows how much he researched, but he succeeded in holding the audience’s attention despite the slow narration.

HIT 2’s technical execution should have been better even if S.Manikandan once again dazzles with his visuals—his framing, blocking, and lighting draw you into the movie and take you on a journey with the plot. Stewart Eduri did an excellent job of giving several sequences the right amount of tension; nonetheless, Sree Lekha and Suresh Bobbili’s songs fall short of expectations.

In general, HIT 2 is a solid thriller that fans of the genre should watch.

Krishna Dev, aka KD (Adivi Sesh), finds the mutilated dead body of Sanjana. As he begins the investigation, it is revealed that the body parts of different girls are assembled. Who is the killer, and did KD find him overcoming the obstacles is Hit 2’s main story.

Performances

Adivi Sesh fits perfectly into the role of KD, a posh-looking, stylish cop with a dash of attitude. It feels as if he is made for the part the way he slips into it. The character also mixes other qualities like braveness and vulnerability, which, as designed by the director, don’t let the role look more heroic.

Within the given space, Adivi Sesh impresses by following all the cues. The personality works to his advantage, and so does the restraint. However, a bit more attitude and uniqueness throughout would have elevated the part further.

Meenakshi has a forgettable part. It is a stock role for heroines in thrillers where they are seen as the hero’s emotional support but ultimately end up being a damsel in distress who has to be rescued by them. Meenakshi is okay in a few scenes, requiring her to be emotional.

Dr Sailesh Kolanu writes and directs Hit 2. It is the second chapter in what is supposed to be an investigative series started by him with Hit.

In the second chapter of HIT, which stands for Homicide Investigation Team, the proceedings shift to Vizag. The characterisation and the world are slowly established, and the director, without wasting any time, proceeds directly into the core investigation drama.

So, we have a gruesome murder revealed to be even more gruesome, which starts the momentum in the narrative. What follows next is anyone’s guess, following one clue after the other leading to potential suspects.

It is very evident in the handling of the investigation process that the director has benefitted from his previous works, HIt and its remake in Hindi. The raw edges seen in his debut are missing narrative-wise. The flow is smooth, and there is a visible slickness that’s undeniable. These help a thriller narrative.

But ultimately, the narrative follows a formula, and the content is par for the course. While the experience helps in handling them better, it still feels secondary when we go through the process of familiarity. The interval bang is where we realise that as it offers an unexpected twist in the tale. While not at the same level, similar tweaks to the predictable turns in its run-up would have elevated the proceedings further.

The press meets during the investigation, the differences with higher officials, the red herring revelations etc., follow the usual pattern seen multiple times before. Some appear very repetitive in the way it’s used. This is where Hit 2 fails to take things to the next level.

The second half, too, follows the same path as the first. The ‘dental’ connection and its related writing are acceptable here. We have a series of clues leading to the pre-climax that eventually connects to the beginning.

A final big bang reveal happens later, taking us to the climax, a mixed bag of sorts. Those who like it might find the Hit 2 experience far better, but a few might find it underwhelming after all the build-up. It is more about the actor who doesn’t propel the drama upward as the character demands. He does well, no doubt, but the big impact is missing.

Overall, Hit 2 is a typical investigative thriller following all the genre tropes. It fails to break any cliches and consistently remains at a decent level throughout. If you like the genre, try it, but have the ‘high’ expectations in check.

There are a few known faces apart from the lead. Rao Ramesh is the critical one among them. His role is symptomatic of the issue with the film. He plays a character that is as cliche as it gets and seems to be designed merely as a functional component to take the narrative forward. The job is done, but the drama is missing and, thereby, the high. Komalee Prasad also faces same issue. Posani Krishna Murali, Tanikella Bharani and others are seen doing their routine. Natural Star Nani’s guest appearance at the end is nicely done.

John Stewart Eduri provides the background for Hit 2. It creates the right mood and an additional eerieness that takes helps the narrative from time to time. S Manikandan’s cinematography adds to the effect with the visuals. Garry BH’s editing is slick and keeps the proceedings sharp. The writing is fine, especially when dealing with some dental-related clues. The world-building part lacks the meat and gives a filler vibe whenever those segments arrive.

Delivers when it comes to gore but not the rest.

HIT: The Second Case delivers what it promises when it comes to the gore (it is rated A, after all) and taking the HIT universe forward. It just doesn�t seem to do anything to take you by surprise. What it does do however is make you want to watch the next instalment. And maybe, that�s a win. (more)
