Three S5 students – Kou Tsz Ching, Wu Sze Wing, and Kei Yuk Kwan – each wrote an essay on the topic of whether the world comes out of the COVID-19 pandemic with clearer visions or post-pandemic syndrome. Among hundreds of entries from all over Hong Kong, their essays were selected as the semi-finalists for the 23rd Lions International Youth Exchange Scholarship English Essay Competition. After another round of interviews, Kou Tsz Ching made it to the Top Ten Finalists. On 14 January, she presented her essay in the final round of competition and won the 6th Prize with an international youth exchange scholarship. Congratulations to all the students!

18th Lions International Youth Exchange Scholarship Essay Competition

Nicholas Ng from Year 11B2 joined the 18th  Lions  International Youth Exchange Scholarship Essay Competition and he was one of the 50 local students proceeding to the semi-final.

Through a round of interviews, 12 Hong Kong students were shortlisted to proceed to the next round where they are joined by 5 students selected from China. In the final round, each candidate delivered a presentation on ‘Smart City and the Environment’  for a panel of 10 judges and Nicholas won as the champion.

International Peace Essay Contest

Created to give an opportunity for visually impaired young people to express their feelings of peace, the International Essay Contest is a staple of Lions clubs around the world. Lions work with local schools and area families to identify young people who are interested in participating and who could benefit from this program. One grand prize winner will receives an award and US$5,000.

The 2024-2025 Contest

Peace without limits.

For peace to be anything more than a possibility, we need to make it a priority. This year, we’re asking our young students to write an essay that speaks to our world’s infinite potential for kindness once we commit to pursuing the idea of peace without limits.

Contest Guidelines 

Students who are visually impaired, ages 11, 12 or 13 on November 15, are eligible to participate. Each essay must be submitted with a completed entry form. Essays must be no longer than 500 words in length, submitted in English, typed in black ink and double-spaced.

On 14 June 2019, the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Azerbaijan held in its premises an awarding ceremony of the essay contest on the topics of the ILO Centenary and the Future of Work. Schoolchildren from Baku took part in the contest.
