‘రె మో’, ‘వరుణ్ డాక్టర్’, ‘కాలేజ్ డాన్‌’లాంటి చిత్రాలు శివకార్తికేయన్‌కు తెలుగులోనూ మంచి పేరు తీసుకొచ్చాయి. ఈ క్రమంలో ఆయన నటించిన తాజా తమిళ చిత్రం ‘మహావీరన్’. తెలుగులో ‘మహావీరుడు’ (Mahaveerudu) పేరుతో విడుదల చేశారు. ప్రచార చిత్రాలు ఆసక్తికరంగా ఉండటం, రవితేజ తన గాత్రాన్ని అందించటం, దర్శకుడు శంకర్‌ కుమార్తె హీరోయిన్‌గా నటించడంతో ఈ సినిమాపై మంచి అంచనాలు ఏర్పడ్డాయి. కథేంటంటే: సత్య (శివకార్తికేయన్) తన తల్లి (సరిత), చెల్లితో కలిసి ఓ బస్తీలో జీవిస్తుంటాడు. అతనొక కామిక్ ఆర్టిస్ట్. సత్య వేసిన మహావీరుడి బొమ్మల కథలు మా భూమి పత్రికలో సుబ్బారావు పేరుతో ప్రచురితం అవుతుంటాయి. సమాజంలో ఏం జరిగినా సర్దుకుపోయే తత్వం అతనిది. ఓ రోజు బస్తీవాసులందరికీ ప్రజాభవనం పేరుతో అధికార పార్టీ అపార్ట్‌మెంట్లు కట్టి ఫ్లాట్‌లను అలాట్ చేస్తుంది. బస్తీ వాసులంతా వాటిల్లో చేరిపోతారు. రోడ్లు భవనాలశాఖ మంత్రి జయసూర్య ఆ ప్రజాభవనాన్ని నాసిరకంగా కట్టడంతో తలుపులు, కిటికీలు ఊడిపోతుంటాయి. పైకప్పు పెచ్చులు మీదపడి చిన్నారులకు గాయాలవుతుంటాయి. ప్రజాభవనం నిర్మించిన నాయకులు, కాంట్రాక్టర్లపై సత్య తల్లి ఎదురు తిరగాలనుకుంటుంది. కానీ, తల్లిని కూడా సత్య సర్దుకుపొమ్మని చెబుతుంటాడు. చెల్లితో అసభ్యకరంగా ప్రవర్తించినా ఏం చేయలేని పిరికివాడిగా ఉండిపోతాడు. ప్రజా సమస్యలను తన మహావీరుడి కథలో బొమ్మలు వేస్తుంటాడు. ప్రజాభవనం లోపాలపై జర్నలిస్ట్ చంద్రమతి (అదితి శంకర్) తన మా భూమి పత్రికలో రాయాలనుకుంటుంది. (Mahaveerudu Movie Review in telugu) అయితే, రాజకీయ ఒత్తిళ్ల వల్ల మహావీరుడి కామిక్ కథను మా భూమి పత్రిక అర్ధాంతరంగా ముగిస్తుంది. ప్రజాభవనంలో జరిగే ఘోరాన్ని ఆపే ధైర్యం లేకపోవడంతో తల్లి మాటలతో కలత చెందిన సత్య ఆత్మహత్య చేసుకోవాలనుకుంటాడు. అప్పుడే సత్య రాసిన మహావీరుడి కథలోని మాటలుపై నుంచి వినిపిస్తుంటాయి. ఆ మాటలు విన్న సత్య ఏం చేశాడు? పిరికివాడైన సత్య కూలిపోయేందుకు సిద్ధంగా ఉన్న ఆ భవనంలోని ప్రజలను ఎలా కాపాడాడు? తెలియాలంటే సినిమా చూడాల్సిందే!

ఎలా ఉందంటే: ఒక పిరికివాడు ప్రజల కోసం ధైర్యవంతుడిగా ఎలా మారాడనేదే మహావీరుడి కథ. ధైర్యమే విజయం నినాదంతో ప్రేక్షకుల ముందుకొచ్చిన ‘మహావీరుడు’ చిత్రం నిలువనీడ లేకుండా ఉన్న పేదప్రజల సమస్యలను తెరపై ప్రతిబింబించింది. ప్రతి పేదవాడు సొంతిల్లు ఉండాలి, బాగా బతకాలని కలలు కంటుంటాడు. బస్తీల్లో బతుకుతూ ఓ పూట తింటూ మరోపూట పస్తులుంటూ రేపటి కోసం ఎదురుచూస్తుంటాడు. అలాంటి పేదలను అడ్డుపెట్టుకొని రాజకీయ పార్టీలు ఆడే ఆటలో వారి జీవితాలు ఎలా నాశనం అవుతున్నాయనేది చెప్పాలనుకున్నాడు దర్శకుడు. (Mahaveerudu Movie Review in telugu) ప్రథమార్ధం బస్తీ ప్రజలకు ఆశచూపి వారు ఉన్నచోటును ఖాళీ చేయించడం, ప్రభుత్వం నిర్మించిన అగ్గిపెట్టెల్లాంటి అపార్ట్ మెంట్లలోకి వెళ్లడం, అందులోని ప్లాట్లలో తలెత్తే సమస్యలను కళ్లకు కట్టినట్టు చూపించారు. కథానాయకుడు తను గీసిన మహావీరుడి బొమ్మల్లోని కథ రవితేజ మాటలతో వినిపించినప్పటి నుంచే కథ మరింత ఆసక్తికరంగా మారుతుంది.

రవితేజ మాటలను అనుసరిస్తూ మంత్రి అనుచర గణాన్ని ఎదిరించే తీరు మొదట్లో ఆకట్టుకున్నా ఆ తర్వాత సాగదీతగా అనిపిస్తుంది. ప్రథమార్ధం కథానాయకుడి అమాయకత్వం, పిరికితనం, ప్యాచ్ పనులు చేస్తూ నవ్వించే యోగిబాబు సన్నివేశాలు ఆకట్టుకుంటాయి. రవితేజ మాటలతో విరామ సమయానికి ధైర్యవంతుడైన కథానాయకుడు ద్వితీయార్ధానికి వచ్చేసరికి మళ్లీ పిరికివాడిగా మారిపోతాడు. మంత్రి, అతని పీఏతో చేసే హంగామా మరీ నాటకీయంగా అనిపిస్తుంటుంది. శివకార్తికేయన్ హీరోగా మడోన్నా అశ్విన్ దర్శకత్వం వహించిన యాక్షన్ కామెడీ-డ్రామా మహా వీరుడు. కాగా ఈ సినిమా ఈ రోజు విడుదల అయింది. మరి ప్రేక్షకులను ఈ చిత్రం ఏ మేరకు మెప్పించిందో సమీక్షలోకి వెళ్లి తెలుసుకుందాం !

సత్య (శివకార్తికేయన్) ఓ పిరికివాడు. తన తల్లి (సరిత) మరియు చెల్లితో కలిసి ఓ బస్తీలో లైఫ్ లీడ్ చేస్తుంటాడు. ఐతే, ఇష్టం లేకపోయినా ప్రభుత్వం ఇచ్చిన ఓ అపార్ట్ మెంట్స్ లోకి తమ బస్తీవాసులతోటి కలిసి వెళ్లాల్సి వస్తోంది. అయితే, ఆ అపార్ట్ మెంట్స్ చాలా నాసిరకంగా కట్ట బడి ఉంటాయి. ఈ క్రమంలో జరిగిన కొన్ని నాటకీయ పరిణామాల నేపథ్యంలో సత్య తన బస్తీ వాసులను ఎలా సేవ్ చేశాడు?, ఆ అపార్ట్ మెంట్స్ ను అంత దారుణంగా కట్టిన మంత్రికి సత్య ఎలా బుద్ది చెప్పాడు?, ఈ మధ్యలో చంద్రమతి (అదితి శంకర్)తో సత్య లవ్ ట్రాక్ ఎలా సాగింది?, చివరకు సత్య మహావీరుడు అయ్యాడా ? లేదా ? అనేది మిగిలిన కథ.

ప్లస్ పాయింట్స్ :

ఓ పిరికివాడు మహావీరుడిగా మారే క్రమంలో వచ్చే డ్రామాలోని కామెడీ సీన్స్, యాక్షన్ సీన్స్ మరియు ఇంటర్వెల్ సీక్వెన్స్ బాగున్నాయి. అలాగే సినిమాలో వినోదంతో పాటు కొన్ని ఎమోషనల్ ఎలిమెంట్స్ కూడా ఆకట్టుకున్నాయి. ప్రజల కోసం చేసే పోరాటానికి ప్రకృతి కూడా సహకరిస్తుంది అనే సందేశాన్ని చాలా వినోదాత్మకంగా చూపించడం బాగుంది. ఈ సినిమాలో హీరోగా నటించిన శివకార్తికేయన్ తన నటనతో, తన బాడీ లాంగ్వేజ్ తో మరియు ఎమోషనల్ అండ్ యాక్షన్ సీక్వెన్సెస్ లో చాలా బాగా నటించాడు. అలాగే క్లిష్టమైన కొన్ని కీలక సన్నివేశాల్లో కూడా శివకార్తికేయన్ నటన సినిమాకే ప్రత్యేక ఆకర్షణగా నిలుస్తోంది.

సినిమాలో కీలకమైన పాత్రలో నటించిన అతిధి శంకర్ కూడా తన పాత్రకి పూర్తి న్యాయం చేశారు. హీరోకి తల్లిగా నటించిన సీనియర్ నటి సరిత కూడా చాలా బాగా నటించింది. యోగి బాబు పంచ్ లు అండ్ కామెడీ టైమింగ్ కూడా బాగున్నాయి. సునీల్ తో సహా ఇతర పాత్రల్లో కనిపించిన మిగిలిన నటీనటులు కూడా తమ పరిధి మేరకు బాగా నటించారు. ఇక ఈ సినిమాలో హీరో పాత్ర.. ఆ పాత్రకు సంబంధించిన మహావీరుడి ట్రాక్.. అలాగే ఆ పాత్రతో ముడి పడిన సీన్స్.. మరియు విలన్ తో పాటు మిగిలిన పాత్రలు.. మొత్తానికి ఈ సినిమాలో కొన్ని కామెడీ అంశాలు మెప్పించాయి.

మైనస్ పాయింట్స్ :

సినిమా మెయిన్ పాయింట్ లో మ్యాటర్ ఉన్నపటికీ.. ఆ పాయింట్ కి తగ్గట్టు స్క్రీన్ ప్లే రాసుకోవడంలో దర్శకుడు మడోన్నా అశ్విన్ కొన్ని చోట్ల తడబడ్డాడు. అసలు ఇలాంటి కాన్సెప్ట్ తీసుకున్నప్పుడు ఆ కాన్సెప్ట్ కి తగ్గట్టు సినిమాని ఆద్యంతం ఉత్కంఠ రేకెత్తిస్తూ అలాగే మంచి యాక్షన్ ఫీస్ట్ గా ప్లేని నడపాలి. ముఖ్యంగా ఫస్ట్ హాఫ్ కంటే సెకండ్ హాఫ్ గ్రాఫ్ పెరగాలి. కానీ ఈ సినిమాలో అది మిస్ అయింది. సెకండ్ హాఫ్ ఆశించిన స్థాయిలో లేదు.

హీరో విలన్ దగ్గరకి వెళ్లి లొంగిపోయే దగ్గర నుంచి సాగే సన్నివేశాలు పేలవంగా సాగుతాయి. దీనికితోడు లాజిక్స్ కూడా ఎక్కడ కనిపించవు. అలాగే హీరోహీరోయిన్ల మధ్య ప్రేమకు సంబంధించిన ట్రాక్ కు కూడా సరైన బలం లేదు. అలాగే పేద ప్రజల కోసం కట్టిన బిల్డింగ్ సమస్యను కూడా బలంగా చూపించడంలో దర్శకుడు నిరాశ పరిచాడు. అసలు ఈ కథలో ఫుల్ కామెడీని మెయింటైన్ చేయవచ్చు. ఫస్ట్ హాఫ్ నిజంగానే ఫన్ తో సాగింది. ఆ ఫన్ ను కూడా దర్శకుడు సెకండ్ హాఫ్ లో కంటిన్యూ చేయలేకపోయాడు.

సాంకేతిక విభాగం :

టెక్నికల్ గా చూసుకుంటే.. సినిమాలో సాంకేతిక విభాగం వర్క్ బాగానే ఉంది. ముఖ్యంగా భరత్ శంకర్ సంగీతం సినిమాకు బాగా ప్లస్ అయింది. అదే విధంగా విధు అయ్యన్న సినిమాటోగ్రఫీ వర్క్ కూడా సినిమాకి హైలైట్ గా నిలిచింది. ఎడిటర్ ఫిలోమిన్ రాజ్ వర్క్ సినిమాకి తగ్గట్టు ఉంది. సినిమాలో నిర్మాత అరుణ్ విశ్వ పాటించిన ప్రొడక్షన్ వాల్యూస్ బాగున్నాయి.

మహావీరుడు కథేంటంటే.. సత్య(శివకార్తికేయన్‌) ఓ కార్టూనిస్ట్‌. మహావీరుడు పేరుతో కామిక్ కథలు రాస్తుంటాడు. నిజ జీవితంలో భయస్తుడు. కానీ తన కథలు మాత్రం సమాజం కోసం పోరాడే ఓ మహావీరుడి గురించే ఉంటాయి. తను ఉండే స్లమ్‌  ఏరియా నుంచి అందరిని వేరే ప్రాంతానికి తరలిస్తుంది ప్రభుత్వం. ఆ ఏరియా ప్రజలందరికి ఓ అపార్ట్‌మెంట్‌కి తరలిస్తారు. మంత్రి ఎమ్‌ ఎమ్‌ సూర్య(మిస్కిన్‌) మనుషులు నాసిరకం సిమెంట్‌తో ఆ అపార్ట్‌మెంట్‌ని నిర్మిస్తారు.

పైకి అందంగా, అద్భుతంగా కనిపించినప్పటికీ.. ఇంట్లోకి వెళ్లిన తొలిరోజు నుంచి కిటికీలు పడిపోవడం, గోడలకు పగుళ్లు రావడం జరుగుతుంటాయి. ఇదేంటని ప్రశ్నిస్తే మంత్రి మనుషులు బెదిరిస్తారు. తన తల్లిని, సోదరిని అవమానించినా..సత్య ఎదురు తిరగడు. అయితే ఓ సందర్భంలో చనిపోవాలని అపార్ట్‌మెంట్‌ పైకి దూకేందుకు ప్రయత్నిస్తాడు సత్య. దెబ్బలు తగిలినా ప్రాణాలతో భయటపడతాడు.

అప్పటి నుంచి అతనికి మాత్రమే ఓ అజ్ఞాత వ్యక్తి వాయిస్‌ వినిస్తుంది(హీరో రవితేజ వాయిస్‌ ఓవర్‌ ఇచ్చాడు). అతను సత్యని ఓ మహావీరుడిగా, మంత్రి సూర్యని యముడిగా వర్ణిస్తుంటాడు. అంతేకాదు మంత్రి నాసిరకంగా కట్టించిన ప్రజా భవనం కూలిపోతుందనే విషయాన్ని  ఆ గొంతు అతనికి తెలియజేస్తుంది. అప్పుడు సత్య ఏం చేశాడు? ఆ అజ్ఞాత గొంతు కారణంగా సత్య జీవితంలో ఎలాంటి పరిణామాలు చోటు చేసుకున్నాయి? అతని ప్రయాణంలో జర్నలిస్ట్‌ చంద్ర(అదితి శంకర్‌) పాత్ర ఏంటి? చివరకు మంత్రిని ఎదురించి ప్రజల ప్రాణాలకు ఎలా కాపాడాడు? అనేదే ‘మహావీరుడు’ కథ.

ఎలా ఉందంటే..  ఓ రాజకీయ నాయకుడు ప్రజలను మోసం చేయడం.. హీరో వారికి అండగా నిలిచి, ఆ రాజకీయ నాయకుడి అవినీతిని భయటపెట్టడం, ప్రాణాలకు తెగించి ప్రజలను కాపాడడం.. ఇలాంటి కాన్సెప్ట్‌తో తెలుగులో చాలా సినిమాలు వచ్చాయి. మహావీరుడు కథ కూడా ఇదే. కానీ ఇక్కడ హీరో భయస్తుడు.  ఓ పిరికివాడు ప్రజల కోసం ఎలా ధైర్యవంతుడిగా మారడనేదే ఈ మూవీ కథ. 

అయితే ఇదంతా సీరియస్‌ కాకుండా.. సెటిల్డ్‌ కామెడీతో ఎంటర్‌టైన్‌గా సాగుతుంది. రవితేజ వాయిస్‌ ఓవర్‌ సినిమాకు చాలా ప్లస్‌ అయింది. అలాగే యోగిబాబు కామెడీ కూడా బాగా వర్కౌట్‌ అయింది. హీరో క్యారెక్టర్‌, వాయిస్‌ ఓవర్‌.. కొన్ని చోట్ల మర్యాద రామన్న సినిమాను గుర్తు చేస్తుంది. అలాగే హీరో భయస్తుడు అని చెప్పించడానికి వచ్చే కొన్ని సన్నివేశాలు సాగదీతగా అనిపిస్తాయి.

సినిమా ప్రారంభంలోనే హీరో క్యారెక్టర్‌ ఎలా ఉండబోతుందో చూపించాడు.  హీరోకి అజ్ఞాత గొంతు వినిపించేంత వరకు కథంతా సోసోగా సాగుతుంది.  ఆ తర్వాత సినిమా మొత్తం కామెడీ ట్రాక్‌ ఎక్కుతుంది.  ఇంటర్వెల్‌ ట్విస్ట్‌ ఆసక్తికరంగా ఉంటుంది. అయితే సెకండాఫ్‌ మాత్రం కథ సాగదీతగా అనిపిస్తుంది. హీరో విలన్‌ దగ్గరకి వెళ్లి లొంగిపోయిన తర్వాత వచ్చే సన్నివేశాలు బోర్‌ కొట్టిస్తాయి.

అలాగే హీరో హీరోయిన్ల లవ్‌ ట్రాక్‌ కూడా అంతగా ఆకట్టుకోలేవు.  సినిమా నిడివి కూడా ప్రేక్షకులకు ఇబ్బంది కలిగిస్తుంది. సింపుల్‌గా చెప్పాల్సిన విషయాలను కూడా డీటైల్డ్‌గా చూపించి నిడివి పెంచేశారు. అలాగే నాసిరకంగా కట్టించిన బిల్డింగుల కారణంగా ప్రజలు పడే ఇబ్బందులను కూడా బలంగా చూపించలేకపోయారు. వాటిని మరింత ఎమోషనల్‌గా తీర్చిదిద్దింటే బాగుండేది. ఫస్టాఫ్‌ మాదిరే సెకండాఫ్‌ కామెడీ కూడా వర్కౌట్‌ అయితే సినిమా ఫలితం మరోలా ఉండేది.  ఎలాంటి అంచనాలు పెట్టుకోకుండా వెళితే  ఈ మహావీరుడు  కాస్త నవ్విస్తాడు.  ఎవరెలా చేశారంటే.. మధ్యతరగతి కుటుంబానికి చెందిన సత్య పాత్రలో శివకార్తికేయన్‌ ఒదిగిపోయాడు. ఇలాంటి పాత్రలు చేయడం అతనికి కొత్తేమి కాదు.  భయస్తుడిగా ఆయన చేసే కామెడీ నవ్వులు పూయిస్తుంది. జర్నలిస్ట్‌ చంద్రగా అదితి శంకర్‌ తన పాత్ర పరిధిమేర చక్కగా నటించింది.  ఈ చిత్రంలో ఆమె నిడివి చాలా తక్కువనే చెప్పాలి. భవన కార్మికుడిగా యోగిబాబు చేసే కామెడీ సినిమాకు చాలా ప్లస్‌ అయింది.  మంత్రిగా మిస్కిన్ , అతని సహాయకుడిగా సునీల్‌తో పాటు మిగిలిన నటీనటులు తమ పాత్రల పరిధిమేర నటించారు. ఇక సాంకేతిక విషయాలకొస్తే.. భరత్‌ శంకర్‌ సంగీతం జస్ట్‌ ఓకే. పాటలకు తెలుగు ప్రేక్షకులను నచ్చవు. నేపథ్య సంగీతం పర్వాలేదు. సినిమాటోగ్రాఫర్‌ పనితీరు బాగుంది. ఎడిటర్‌ తన కత్తెరకు ఇంకాస్త పని చెప్పాల్సింది. ముఖ్యంగా సెకండాఫ్‌లో కొన్ని సన్నివేశాలను మరింత క్రిస్పీగా కట్‌ చేయాల్సింది. నిర్మాణ విలువలు సినిమా స్థాయికి తగ్గట్లుగా ఉన్నాయి.

Mahaveerudu (2023) Movie: What's Behind

Kollywood actor Sivakarthikeyan is known for his entertaining flicks and attained success in Tollywood with films like Varun Doctor and Don. He is coming up with Maaveeran which released in Telugu as Mahaveerudu. The film's OTT rights have been bagged by Amazon Prime and streaming will be after the completion of its theatrical run. The film is directed by Madonne Ashwin. Let us see what Mahaveerudu offered to movie lovers.

Mahaveerudu Movie: Story Review

Mahaveerudu's story is about a youngster from a slum who compromises on everything and how such a common person became the crusader and hailed as Mahaveerudu. Sathya (Sivakarthikeyan) lives in a slum along with his mother and sister Vijayawada. He works as a cartoonist who writes the comic story Mahaveerudu daily.

The government shifts all the slum people into the government-allotted 2 BHK apartments. Despite the problems, Sathya calms and pacifies his mother and sister to compromise and adjust. However, his mother chides him for his timid nature when a thug troubles them.  This leads to some startling developments. To find out those startling developments and how editor Chandra (Aditi Shankar), and Minister Jayasurya (Mysskin) are connected to it, form the rest of the story.

Mahaveerudu: Artists Review

Sivakarthikeyan turned out to be the livewire for the film with his performance. He showed good expressions and emotions bringing in variations. He looked realistic and natural as a timid person who compromises on everything and anything by staying away from conflicts. He elevated the scenes showing transformation in his mannerisms.

Mass Raja Ravi Teja's voiceover turned out to be an added advantage to the film. His voiceover and Sivakarthikeyan's mannerisms created magic on the screen evoking laughs in the theatres. Aditi Shankar is ok in her role as the editor. Saritha as Sivakarthikeyan's mother performed well showing good emotions and expressions. Yogi Babu is good in his role. Mysskin played the angatonist role and it is designed differently. Sunil played an important role in the film but his look did not suit him.

Mahaveerudu: Technicians Review

Mahaveerudu's story selected by Madonne Ashwin is a predictable and routine one. However, what made it passable is the fantasy element associated with it in the form of a voice. This increased the curiosity among movie lovers. He started the first half in a simple and predictable manner. He highlighted the happenings in the slums, media, and also in government-allotted apartments in a natural and realistic way.

However, things take a curious turn the moment a strange voice starts making its presence felt. The scenes involving the voice, Sivakarthikeyan, the baddies, and the antagonist came out quite well and they stand out. The first half ends on an interesting note and many expected the second half to take off to another level. However, the second half turned flat with the voice thing dragged to a point of no return and routine elements creeping in. The story is routine but the screenplay and direction turned out to be decent. Dialogues are natural and at times entertaining.

Philomin Raj's editing is ok in the first half but he let his editing scissors slip in the second half. The second half dragged a lot with many routine elements. Vidhy Ayyana's cinematography is natural and realistic. Bharat Shankar's couple of songs are foot-tapping and situational. The BGM is in sync with the story and it elevated the proceedings. Production values are decent.

Altogether, Mahaveerudu's story is an average entertainer. Madonne Ashwin penned a routine story but used little creativity and included a strange voice and aided by Sivakarthikeyan's talent, managed to create a few laughs. But with other things falling apart,  Mahaveerudu's power got diminished. A little fine-tuning of the script would have made a large difference. Considering all these aspects, Cinejosh goes with a 2.25 Rating for Mahaveerudu .

Movie Review: Mahaveerudu

'Mahaveerudu', the Telugu-dubbed version of the Tamil-language movie 'Maaveeran', was released in theatres today (July 14). Despite the cancellation of shows early in the day due to content delivery and license issues in some pockets of the Telugu States, the film's screenings started to get smoother by the afternoon. Let's find out what to expect from the latest dubbed release in town.

Sathya (Sivakarthikeyan) is a cartoonist in a news daily named Maa Bhoomi. His cartoon strip titled Mahaveerudu is a hit with readers. Owing to a development project, Sathya, his widowed mother (Saritha) and his sister move to a newly-built government-sponsored apartment, where dozens of families have been rehabilitated as compensation for taking over their dwellings. But the building is spurious, hindering the quality of life of its dwellers. Sathya, despite being a journalist, is notoriously cowardly and doesn't dare to question even the in-house Engineer.

In a fantastical turn of events, Sathya starts hearing the voice of the protagonist of his cartoon series. This protagonist knows the future like a god. The rest of the film is about how Sathya becomes an accidental hero and averts a major tragedy by locking horns with the villain of the piece - a Minister (Mysskin) who wants to win the next election come what may.

Sivakarthikeyan is undoubtedly one of the very few likeable Tamil actors of the new generation. For the Telugu audience, he is leagues ahead of his colleagues such as Ashok Selvan, Atharva, Arun Vijay and others. If he continues to deliver films like 'Doctor' and 'Mahaveerudu', chances are that he will emerge quite popular among the Telugu audience. He is absolutely good in the film under review.

Mysskin is failed by a rather weak character. His ways and language are cliched. Yogi Babu is hilarious as a construction worker who is deputed to do patchwork in the creaky apartment building. Ravi Teja has dubbed for the unseen force whose voice the male lead keeps hearing over 60% of the running time. Saritha is good as the male lead's frustrated mother. Our own Sunil is seen as the Minister's trusted and occasionally domineering lieutenant. He is good.

Aditi Shankar appears to become the hero's love interest at first. But her character (she is a sub-editor) thankfully doesn't give way to cliches.

Technical Departments:

Bharath Sankar's background score is excellent. His work is in the league of a GV Prakash Kumar, if not an Anirudh. The cinematography is adequate. The production design and VFX are decent. The ramshackle building looks real and lived-in. Credit to director Madonne Ashwin for ensuring some meticulous work.

A new spin on the hero vs villain template. Situational humour that never feels forced. The absence of a hero with zero saviour complex. Non-routine clashes. Some interesting situations due to the fantasy element.

The overlong run-time. Not-so-interesting deployment of the voice-over. The villain's characterization. A Minister would never behave like an absolute clown right in the presence of hundreds of people in real life.

Vox Verdict:

'Mahaveerudu' makes for a riveting watch despite some flaws. By wedding fantasy elements with a routine template, the film achieves some awesome results.

Mahaveerudu  movie review:   Sivakarthikeyan , Aditi Shankar, Saritha, Mysskin, Sunil, Yogi Babu and other starrer Mahaveerudu helmed by Madonne Ashwin has hit the theaters today. Let’s see the story of Mahaveerudu.

  Story:  Satya (Sivakarthikeyan) is a coward. He leads life in a basti with his mother (Sarita) and sister. However, even if they don’t like it, they have to move into an apartment given by the government along with their residents. However, those apartments are very poorly constructed. How does Satya save his Basti residents?, How does Satya talk to the minister who built the apartments so badly?, How does  Satya handle all the issues? To get these answers, one should watch the movie Mahaveerudu on the screen.

 Performance:  Sivakarthikeyan who plays  the lead role in this movie does very well with his acting, body language and emotional and action sequences. Also, Sivakarthikeyan’s performance in some critical scenes is a special attraction of the movie. Aditi Shankar who plays a pivotal role in the film also does full justice to her role. Senior actress Sarita in the role of hero’ mother also performed very well. Yogi Babu’s punches and comedy timing are also good. The rest of the actors, including Sunil, also acted well within their scope.

 Technical:   The storyline of Mahaveerudu  is interesting. Technically, the work of the technical department in the movie is good. Especially Bharat Shankar’s music is a plus for the movie. Similarly Vidhu Ayanna’s cinematography work is also a highlight of the movie. Editor Philomin Raj’s work is perfect for the film. The production values followed by producer Arun Vishwa in the movie are good.

 Analysis:  The comedy scenes, action scenes and interval sequences in the drama Mahaveerudu about a coward becoming a superhero are good. Along with entertainment, some emotional elements are also impressive in the movie. Sivakarthikeyan’s performance in the movie is very good. Overall, Mahaveerudu impresses the  audience.

After gaining a lot of fame in Telugu states with dubbing films like 'Varun Doctor' and 'Don', Tamil hero Siva Karthikeyan arrived with a bilingual named 'Prince' under Anudeep's direction. The movie did not meet the expectations but he is back again with another interesting movie titled 'Mahaveerudu'. The trailer created a good hype on the movie and the impressive star cast too drew a lot of attention. Let us dive into the review to find out more about this flick.

Satya (Siva Karthikeyan) is a cartoonist who makes comics. He lives in a poor area along with his mother and sister. The government makes all the public in his area vacate the place and shifts them to apartments named 'Prajabhavanam'. But the poor quality of construction becomes a huge problem for Satya's family as well as his people. But Satya is a coward who fears to fight against injustice. But getting constantly humiliated and facing setbacks makes him to jump off from the top of his apartment building. He comes out of it with serious injuries and he gets admitted in the hospital. After coming out of the hospital he behaves differently as he hears a voice from above. He decides to fight against the minister (Mysskin) who built their apartments in a poor way. How did Satya become so brave? What happens in his fight with the minister forms the rest of the story.

When you mix fantasy into the story, the audience won't ask for a lot of logic. They are ready to forgive many things if the fantasy element is a bit convincing. The filmmaker can do a lot of things due to this freedom. Madonne Ashwin who made a strong entry with a film like 'Mandela' has taken the same route once again with 'Mahaveerudu'. As the horror-comedy genre in which the spirit enters the hero's body and brings a lot of fun became outdated, Ashwin decided to narrate the same kind of story in a new way in 'Mahaveerudu'. The hero's adventures on the basis of a voice he hears from above is highly entertaining. The core point is not novel and the beginning and end parts too are very ordinary. But what happens in the middle due to the 'voice' is the highlight of the movie. 'Mahaveerudu' makes your tickets worth with a lot of entertainment during these portions.

The voice which the hero hears is given by Ravi Teja in Telugu. Whoever came up with this decision needs a lot of applause as it turned out to be a huge asset. We have seen a lot of movies where the ghost enters the cowardly hero's house and does extraordinary things but doing a lot of adventures due to the voice he hears without his involvement evokes a lot of fun. Mainly, the scene where the voice gives a commentary while the hero is beating the bad guys came out very well. The director did not dwell deeply into the reason behind the hero hearing the voice and focused only on the fun parts. Keeping the logic aside, the treatment of a lot of scenes is quite interesting and impressive in this film.

The first thirty minutes appear quite ordinary and regular but the movie picks up pace when the fantasy part kicks in. Along with the hero, the director made full use of Yogi Babu too which made the film a hilarious ride throughout. The makers the first half very good and the second half goes well till the point too but people will be disappointed if they expect something unique during the climax. The director would have thought that the backstory of the 'voice' might make it very routine as he left it untouched. The second half feels a bit dragged as we wait for the climax to finally arrive. A few might be disappointed in the way the climax was handled too. The story of 'Mahaveerudu' is very ordinary and the lengthy runtime is a problem too. But at a time when good films with entertainment are becoming scarce, it is nice to watch a fun film like 'Mahaveerudu'.

Performances:

Siva Karthikeyan shows a lot of ease in his performance. His boy next door looks helps him a lot and he suited this character perfectly. His acting in 'Mahaveerudu' is very good and he provided a lot of entertainment in this film. He carried the film on his shoulders. Aditi Shankar as the heroine beside Siva Karthikeyan is quite good. She is not a regular glamour heroine but looks beautiful. Though her character does not have a lot of scope, she did well in the given space. Director Mysskin as the villain impresses you. Telugu actor Sunil surprised in a key role. Yogi Babu generated good humour through his role and senior actor Saritha is very natural as the mother.

Technicians:

Bharat's music is okay. He could have made a lot of scenes more entertaining with his background score but he failed to utilise the opportunity. Anirudh elevated a lot of scenes in 'Doctor' and 'Don' with his work and Bharat failed to do the same. Vidhu's cinematography is fantastic and the production values are adequate as well. Director Madonne Ashwin showed his caliber in generating comedy. He managed to make people laugh without going over the board. Had the screenplay been better and more interesting, 'Mahaveerudu' would have been in the next level.

Verdict: 'Mahaveerudu' - Fun-Filled Fantasy Film
