సం చ‌ల‌న విజ‌యాల్ని సొంతం చేసుకుని, అతి త‌క్కువ కాలంలోనే బ‌ల‌మైన అభిమాన‌గ‌ణాన్ని సొంతం చేసుకున్న క‌థానాయ‌కుడు విజ‌య్ దేవ‌రకొండ. ‘లైగ‌ర్‌’తో జాతీయ స్థాయిలో ప్ర‌భావం చూపించాల‌ని ప్ర‌య‌త్నించినా, అది ఫ‌లితాన్నివ్వ‌లేదు. కొంత‌కాలంగా ప‌రాజ‌యాల‌తో స‌త‌మ‌త‌మ‌వుతున్న విజ‌య్ ఈసారి ప్రేమ‌క‌థ‌ని ఎంచుకుని ‘ఖుషి’తో ముందుకు వచ్చారు. స‌మంత (Samanth) క‌థానాయిక‌. శివ నిర్వాణ ద‌ర్శ‌క‌త్వం వ‌హించారు. విజ‌య్‌కి ఉన్న గుర్తింపు, ఆయ‌న మార్కెట్‌కి త‌గ్గ‌ట్టుగా ఈ చిత్రం కూడా పాన్ ఇండియా స్థాయిలోనే విడుద‌లైంది. క‌థేంటంటే: విప్ల‌వ్ దేవ‌ర‌కొండ (విజ‌య్ దేవ‌ర‌కొండ‌) ప్ర‌భుత్వ ఉద్యోగంపై ఇష్టంతో బి.ఎస్‌.ఎన్‌.ఎల్‌లో జేటీవోగా విధుల్లో చేరతాడు. ఏరికోరి క‌శ్మీర్‌లో పోస్ట్ వేయించుకుంటాడు. అక్క‌డే ఆరా బేగం (స‌మంత‌)ని చూసి ప్రేమ‌లో ప‌డ‌తాడు. త‌మ్ముడిని వెదుక్కుంటూ తాను పాకిస్థాన్‌ నుంచి వ‌చ్చాన‌ని చెప్పినా, త‌న కోసం పాకిస్థాన్‌ వెళ్ల‌డానికైనా సిద్ధ‌ప‌డ‌తాడు విప్ల‌వ్‌. అంత‌గా త‌న‌ని ఇష్ట‌ప‌డ‌టం చూసి... ఆ ప్రేమ‌కి ఆరా కూడా ఫిదా అయిపోతుంది. కానీ, వీళ్ల ప్రేమ‌కి పెద్ద‌లు అడ్డు చెబుతారు. ఎలా ఉందంటే: ఒక జంట ప్రేమ‌... పెళ్లి జీవితం నేప‌థ్యంలో సాగే క‌థ ఇది. ప్రేమ‌క‌థ‌ల్లో ప్ర‌ధాన సంఘ‌ర్ష‌ణకి ధ‌నిక‌, పేద‌, ప‌రువు, ప్ర‌తిష్ట‌, కులం, మ‌తం వంటి విష‌యాలే ఎక్కువ‌గా కార‌ణ‌మ‌వుతుంటాయి. ఈ క‌థ కూడా ఇంచుమించు అలాంటిదే. కాక‌పోతే ఇందులో ఆస్తికులు, నాస్తికులైన రెండు కుటుంబాల న‌మ్మ‌కాల నుంచి ఆ సంఘ‌ర్ష‌ణ‌ని సృష్టించి క‌థ‌ని న‌డిపించాడు ద‌ర్శ‌కుడు. తొలి భాగం ప్రేమ‌క‌థ‌తో సాగితే, మ‌లిభాగం వైవాహిక జీవితం చుట్టూ సాగుతుంది. కొత్త నేప‌థ్య‌మే ఈ సినిమాకి ప్ర‌ధాన బ‌లం.  ప్ర‌ధాన పాత్ర‌లు ప‌రిచ‌యం కాగానే... క‌థ క‌శ్మీర్‌కి చేరుతుంది. (Kushi Movie Review telugu) అక్క‌డ హీరో-హీరోయిన్లు ఒక‌రికొక‌రు తార‌స‌ప‌డ‌టం...  ఆ త‌ర్వాత ప్రేమ, విన‌సొంపైన పాట‌లు, క‌నువిందు చేసే క‌శ్మీర్ అందాల‌తో సినిమా హాయిగా సాగిపోతుంది. విజ‌య్ దేవ‌ర‌కొండ ( Vijay devarakonda ) , - వెన్నెల కిశోర్ నేప‌థ్యంలో హాస్య స‌న్నివేశాలు కూడా ప్ర‌థ‌మార్ధానికి ప్ర‌ధాన బ‌లం. ద్వితీయార్ధంలోనే అస‌లు సంఘ‌ర్ష‌ణ ఉంటుంది. ప్రేమించి పెళ్లి చేసుకున్న ఓ జంట మ‌ధ్య ఎలాంటి విష‌యాలు అపార్థాల‌కి కార‌ణ‌మ‌వుతుంటాయి? ఇక ఆ జంట భిన్న సంప్ర‌దాయాలు, క‌ట్టుబాట్లతో మెలిగే కుటుంబాల నుంచి వ‌చ్చిన‌ప్పుడు ఆ అపార్థాలు ఇంకెంత‌గా ప్ర‌భావం చూపిస్తాయో సెకండాఫ్‌లో చూపించారు.

చాలా సినిమాల్లో చూసిన ప్రేమ‌క‌థే అయినా  కొత్తర‌క‌మైన నేప‌థ్యాన్ని చూపిస్తూ సంఘ‌ర్ష‌ణ‌, భావోద్వేగాల్ని పండించే ప్ర‌య‌త్నం చేశాడు. అయితే ఈ క‌థ‌లో పండిన సంఘ‌ర్ష‌ణ మోతాదే స‌రిపోలేదు. అటు ప్రేమికుల‌కు, ఇటు భార్యాభ‌ర్త‌ల‌కీ క‌నెక్ట్ అయ్యే స‌న్నివేశాలు త‌క్కువ‌.  ప్ర‌థ‌మార్ధం హాయిగా సాగినా... ద్వితీయార్ధంలో చాలా చోట్ల స‌న్నివేశాలు సాగ‌దీత‌లా అనిపిస్తాయి. ఫెర్టిలిటీ సెంట‌ర్‌లో హ‌డావుడి, కేర‌ళలో స‌న్నివేశాలు వృథా అనిపిస్తాయి. హీరోయిన్‌కి మిస్ క్యారేజ్ అయ్యాక కూడా హీరోకి టెస్టుల పేరుతో తెర‌పై హ‌డావుడిని చూపించ‌డం అంత‌గా అత‌క‌లేదు. (Kushi Movie Review) హీరో-హీరోయిన్ల మ‌ధ్య అపార్థాలు కూడా ఎఫెక్టివ్‌గా అనిపించ‌వు. ప‌తాక స‌న్నివేశాలతో మ‌ళ్లీ ద‌ర్శ‌కుడు ప‌ట్టు ప్ర‌ద‌ర్శించాడు. కుటుంబంతో క‌లిసి చూసే క‌థే అయినా...  విజ‌య్ దేవ‌ర‌కొండ మార్క్ రొమాంటిక్ స‌న్నివేశాలకీ లోటులేకుండా చూసుకున్నాడు. ముఖ్యంగా...  ఆరాధ్య పాట‌లో విజ‌య్‌, స‌మంత మ‌ధ్య కెమిస్ట్రీ ప్ర‌భావం చూపిస్తుంది.

ఎవ‌రెలా చేశారంటే: విజ‌య్ దేవ‌ర‌కొండ‌ సమంత ( Samantha ) జోడీ ప్రతి సన్నివేశంలోనూ ఆక‌ట్టుకుంటుంది. క‌థ‌కి త‌గ్గ ఎంపిక.  ప్రేమలో ప‌డిన జంట‌గా ప్ర‌థ‌మార్ధంలో ఎంత అందంగా క‌నిపించారో,  ద్వితీయార్ధంలో భార్యాభ‌ర్త‌లుగా సహ‌జంగా ఆ పాత్ర‌ల్లో ఒదిగిపోయారు.  ప‌తాక స‌న్నివేశాల్లోనూ, అంత‌కుముందు వ‌చ్చే స‌న్నివేశాల్లోనూ చ‌క్క‌టి భావోద్వేగాల్ని పండించారు. స‌చిన్ ఖేడేక‌ర్‌, ముర‌ళీశ‌ర్మ పాత్ర‌లు సినిమాకి కీల‌కం. ఒక‌రు నాస్తికుడిగా, మ‌రొక‌రు ప్ర‌వ‌చ‌న‌క‌ర్త‌గా పాత్ర‌ల్లో నటించారు. జ‌య‌రాం, రోహిణి, శ‌ర‌ణ్య పొన్‌వ‌ణ్ణ‌న్‌, ల‌క్ష్మీ, శ‌ర‌ణ్య ప్ర‌దీప్ పాత్ర‌ల‌కి త‌గ్గ‌ట్టుగా న‌టించారు. ఫస్టాఫ్‌లో వెన్నెల కిశోర్ కొన్ని న‌వ్వులు పంచితే, ద్వితీయార్ధంలో రాహుల్ రామ‌కృష్ణ సందడి చేస్తారు. అలీ, బ్ర‌హ్మానందం, శ్రీకాంత్ అయ్యంగార్ త‌దిత‌ర న‌టులున్నా ఆశించిన స్థాయిలో హాస్యం పండ‌లేదు. (Kushi Movie Review) ప్ర‌తినాయ‌క పాత్ర‌ల్లో ఎక్కువ‌గా క‌నిపించే శ‌త్రుకి ఇందులో విభిన్న‌మైన పాత్ర దొరికింది. సాంకేతికంగా సినిమా ఉన్న‌తంగా ఉంది. సంగీతం చిత్రానికి ప్ర‌ధాన‌ బ‌లం. హీష‌మ్ పాట‌లు ఎంత బాగున్నాయో, చిత్రీక‌ర‌ణ కూడా అంతే బాగుంది. ముర‌ళీ కెమెరా క‌శ్మీర్ అందాల్ని, ప్ర‌ధాన జోడీ మ‌ధ్య కెమిస్ట్రీని ఆక‌ట్టుకునేలా చూపించింది. ద్వితీయార్ధంలో ఎడిటింగ్ విభాగం మ‌రిన్ని జాగ్ర‌త్త‌లు తీసుకోవాల్సింది. ద‌ర్శ‌కుడు శివ నిర్వాణ తాను న‌మ్మిన ఓ స‌గ‌టు క‌థ‌ని స్ప‌ష్టంగా చెప్పే ప్ర‌య‌త్నం చేశాడు. పాట‌ల‌న్నీ రాసిన ఆయ‌న, క‌థ‌, స్క్రీన్‌ప్లే ర‌చ‌న‌పైన కూడా ఇంకాస్త దృష్టి పెట్టాల్సింది.  నిర్మాణం ఉన్న‌తంగా ఉంది.

Shiva Nirvana’s movie doesn’t delve into groundbreaking concepts; instead, it revolves around the everyday and trivial challenges encountered by individuals in their relationships. Numerous films such as Chalte Chalte, Alaipayuthey, Akele Hum Akele Tum, and many others have previously tackled this theme. However, Shiva Nirvana approaches it with a lighthearted touch, particularly in the second half of the film.

The storyline seems to skim over issues without allowing them to resonate deeply. It consistently hurries to introduce a comedic twist or launch into a musical number, ensuring that the feel-good essence remains intact. However, as the film progresses, it becomes increasingly predictable, which somewhat diminishes its impact. Anticipating the next turn of events can make the movie feel somewhat less exhilarating at times.

Even the portrayal of the middle-class setting and the influence of the older couple (played by Rohini and Jayaram), who encourage the younger couple to view the bigger picture beyond their everyday conflicts, bears a resemblance to narratives seen in movies like Alaipayuthey and Okay Kanmani.

Interestingly, the director brilliantly infused how Vijay Deverakonda is a fan of Mani Ratnam films, and thus makes repeated references to the above films, including Roja, and Dil Se. Kushi experiences a shake-up when the parents intervene. There’s a moment when a father responds with a somewhat ‘I-told-you-so’ remark upon learning of an unfortunate incident, choosing ego over emotional support. It serves as a portrayal of the human tendency to prioritize pride. The resolution of the conflict and the convergence of characters with opposing viewpoints occur in the final act.

Although executed brilliantly, the filmmaker could have handled the Kerala segment more effectively. Even the scenes depicting Vijay Deverakonda’s efforts to woo Samantha could have benefited from more refined scripting. Nonetheless, I couldn’t help but be entertained by the amusing albeit somewhat cinematic and silly situations presented in the first half of the film.

Kushi Movie Review: Star Performance

Vijay Deverakonda delivers a performance imbued with innocence and sincerity, effectively channelling his innate charm. It’s been quite some time since the actor has portrayed his original strength – that of an imperfect boy next door. He fully inhabits his character, carrying the film, particularly through some of its weaker later sections. Additionally, there’s a humorous reference to his Arjun Reddy character that elicits laughter from the audience.

In contrast, Samantha ‘s performance initially revolves around her portrayal of a mysterious woman, whom Viplav falls for at first sight in Kashmir during the first half. Gradually, she comes into her own, effortlessly embodying the role of Aradhya, a woman seeking happiness above all else. The duo succeeds in making viewers genuinely care about their characters and their strained marriage. Their on-screen chemistry appears seamless, even during scenes where they can hardly stand each other.

Sharanya Pradeep, portraying the role of the friend, assumes a prominent conversational role, delivering her lines with remarkable ease, especially in the first half, particularly during the Kashmir sequence. Saranya Ponvannan, cast as Viplav’s mother, and Lakshmi, in the role of Aradhya’s grandmother, has the potential to be voices of reason within the narrative but are constrained by limited exposure. Conversely, the father characters, portrayed by Murali Sharma and Sachin Khadekar, take on a somewhat caricatured quality. Despite their efforts to transcend the constraints of their characters, there’s only so much they can do. Rahul Ramakrishna’s performance as Vijay Deverakonda’s friend also deserves commendation.

Kushi Movie Review: Direction, Music

Shiva Nirvana subtly weaves in numerous references to films by the likes of Mani Ratnam, Vijay, and Samantha, enhancing romantic drama with a delightful blend of humour and captivating music. With finesse, he crafts a narrative that skillfully introduces a conflict rooted in clashing ideologies, hidden beneath the surface of entertainment, capable of tarnishing relationships. Shiva Nirvana chooses a straightforward path to convey the notion that love can triumph over disparities. Nevertheless, some characters remain one-dimensional, and the exploration of ideologies lacks depth.

The film’s opening segment underscores Shiva Nirvana’s need to delve into a more nuanced portrayal of characters, embracing their multifaceted nature. Nonetheless, he adeptly leverages the father figures, who border on caricature, to construct a tense sequence aboard a metro train that also elicits laughter from the audience. Moreover, Kushi could have benefited from a more concise runtime to enhance its impact. Nonetheless, Shiva Nirvana presents a film that resonates with family audiences.

Kushi Movie Review: The Last Word

Is Kushi entertaining? Most definitely. This delightful romantic musical is elevated by its charismatic leads, Vijay Deverakonda and Samantha. It had the potential to stand out even further had it delved deeper into the thought-provoking conflict between science and religion with additional consideration and effort.

Kushi Movie Review: ‘ఖుషి’మూవీ రివ్యూ

యశోద, శాకుంతలం చిత్రాలతో సమంత, లైగర్‌తో విజయ్‌ దేవరకొండ,  టక్‌ జగదీష్‌తో శివ నిర్వాణ.. ఈ ముగ్గురు తమ కెరీర్‌లో అతిపెద్ద డిజాస్టర్స్‌ అందుకున్నారు. వీరి కెరీర్‌కి అర్జెంట్‌గా ఓ హిట్‌ అవసరం. అందుకే తమకు అచ్చొచ్చిన ప్రేమ కథను ఎంచుకొని ‘ఖుషి’ చేశారు. ప్రేమ కథలను ఎమోషనల్‌గా తెరకెక్కించడంలో శివ నిర్వాణ ఎక్స్‌పర్ట్‌. తన కథకు జంటగా విజయ్‌, సమంతలను ఎంచుకున్నప్పటి నుంచే ‘ఖుషి’పై హైప్‌ క్రియేట్‌ అయింది. పాటలు సూపర్‌ హిట్‌ కావడం, ప్రమోషన్స్‌ కూడా గ్రాండ్‌గా నిర్వహించడంతో ఈ సినిమాపై అంచనాలు పెరిగాయి. భారీ అంచనాలతో తెలుగుతో పాటు హిందీ, తమిళ, కన్నడ, మలయాళ భాషల్లో నేడు(సెప్టెంబర్‌ 1) ఈ చిత్రం ప్రేక్షకుల ముందుకు వచ్చింది. మరి ఈ మూవీ ఎలా ఉంది? రివ్యూలో చూద్దాం. 

‘ఖుషి’ కథేంటంటే.. లెనిన్‌ సత్యం(సచిన్‌ ఖేడేకర్‌) ఓ నాస్తికుడు. సైన్స్‌ని నమ్మాలని, మూఢ నమ్మకాలతో మోసం పోవద్దని ప్రచారం చేస్తుంటాడు. దేవుళ్లను నమ్మడు. అతని భార్య రాజ్యలక్ష్మీ(శరణ్య) మాత్రం భర్తకు తెలియకుండా పూజలు చేస్తుంటుంది. ఇక  అతని చిన్న కొడుకు విప్లవ్‌ దేవరకొండ(విజయ్‌ దేవరకొండ) కూడా నాస్తికుడే. బీఎస్‌ఎన్‌ఎల్‌లో ఉద్యోగం రావడంతో అడిగి మరి కశ్మీర్‌లో పోస్టింగ్‌ వేయించుకుంటాడు. అక్కడ ఆరా బేగం(సమంత)ను చూసి తొలి చూపులోనే ప్రేమలో పడతాడు. తాను పాకిస్తాన్‌కు చెందిన ముస్లిం అమ్మాయి అని తెలిసినా.. ఆమెను పెళ్లి చేసుకోవాలని ఫిక్స్‌ అవుతాడు.

విప్లవ్‌ తనపై చూపించే ప్రేమకు ఆరా బేగం ఫిదా అవుతుంది. అప్పుడు తాను ముస్లిం అమ్మాయిని కాదని, బ్రాహ్మిన్‌ అమ్మాయిని అని,  తన అసలు పేరు ఆరాధ్య అని చెబుతుంది. కాకినాడకు చెందిన ప్రవచనకర్త చదరంగం శ్రీనివాసరావు(మురళీ శర్మ) తన తండ్రి అని చెబుతుంది.  చదరంగం శ్రీనివాసరావుకు, లెనిన్‌ సత్యంకు అసలు పడదు. ఒకరు దేవుడి, జోతిష్యాన్ని నమ్మితే.. మరొకరు సైన్స్‌, టెక్నాలజీని నమ్ముతారు. ఇరు కుటుంబాలు వీరి పెళ్లికి ఒప్పుకోరు. పెద్దలను ఎదిరించి ప్రేమ పెళ్లి చేసుకుంటారు విప్లవ్‌, ఆరాధ్య. ఆ తర్వాత ఏం జరిగింది?  ఇద్దరి మధ్య గొడవలకు కారణం ఏంటి?  ఇరు కుటుంబాల పెద్దలు ఊహించినట్లు వీరిద్దరు విడిపోయారా? లేదా కలిసే ఉన్నారా? చివరకు ఏం జరిగింది? అనేది తెలియాలంటే సినిమా చూడాల్సిందే. 

ఎలా ఉందంటే..  భార్యభర్తల మధ్య గొడవలు సహజం. ఏదో ఒక సందర్భంలో ఆలుమగల మధ్య కలహాలు వస్తూనే ఉంటాయి. వాటిని భరిస్తూ, ఒకరికొకరు తోడుగా ఉంటూ ముందుకు సాగడమే జీవితం అని చాటి చెప్పిన సినిమా ‘ఖుషి’. అంతేకాదు మరో సున్నితమైన అంశాన్ని  కూడా ఇందులో చూపించారు.  రక్తం పంచుకుపుట్టిన పిల్లలు, ఫ్యామిలీ కంటే సిద్దాంతాలు, శాస్త్రాలు పెద్ద గొప్పవి ఏమి కాదని తెలియజేసే బ్యూటిఫుల్‌ లవ్‌స్టోరీ ఇది. 

కథగా చూసుకుంటే ఖుషి కొత్తదేమి కాదు. వేరు వేరు మతాలకు చెందిన అబ్బాయి, అమ్మాయి ప్రేమించుకోవడం.. వారి పెళ్లికి పెద్దలు నిరాకరించడం.. పేరెంట్స్‌ని ఎదురించి, అష్టకష్టాలు పడి వారు పెళ్లి చేసుకోవడం..ఈ కాన్సెఫ్ట్‌తో గతంలో చాలా సినిమాలే వచ్చాయి. ‘ఖుషి’ కథ కూడా ఇంచుమించు అలాంటిదే. కానీ కథనం కాస్త డిఫరెంట్‌గా ఉంటుంది.  

నిన్నుకోరి, మజిలి చిత్రాల్లో లవ్‌ ఫెయిల్యూర్‌ అయిన వ్యక్తి బాధను చూపించిన దర్శకుడు శివ నిర్వాణ.. ఈ చిత్రంలో  పెద్దలను ఎదురించి, ప్రేమ పెళ్లి చేసుకున్న ఓ జంట మధ్య ఎలాంటి విషయాలు అపార్థాలకు  కారణమవుతుంటాయి? భిన్న నేపథ్యం ఉన్న కుటుంబాలను నుంచి వచ్చినవారికి ఆ అపార్థాల ప్రభావం ఏ స్థాయిలో ఉంటుందనేది చూపించాడు. ఫస్టాఫ్‌ మొత్తం హీరో హీరోయిన్ల లవ్‌స్టోరీ చూపిస్తే.. సెకండాఫ్‌లో వైవాహిక జీవితాన్ని చూపించాడు. 

లెనిన్‌ సత్యం పాత్రను పరిచయం చేస్తూ సినిమా ప్రారంభమవుతుంది. ఆ తర్వాత  హీరో కశ్మీర్‌కి వెళ్లి, హీరోయిన్‌ని చూసేంత వరకు కథ నెమ్మదిగా సాగుతుంది. ఎప్పుడైతే బేగం ప్రేమలో విప్లవ్‌ పడతాడో.. అప్పటి నుంచి కథ ఆసక్తిగా సాగుతుంది. బేగం ప్రేమను పొందేందుకు విప్లవ్‌ చేసే కొన్ని పనులు నవ్వులు పూయిస్తాయి. వెన్నెల కిశోర్‌, విజయ్‌ల మధ్య  సన్నివేశాలు హిలేరియస్‌గా ఉంటాయి.

హీరోకి అసలు విషయం తెలియడం.. పెళ్లి కోసం ఇరు కుటుంబాలను ఒప్పించడం..ఇదంతా రొటీన్‌గా సాగుతుంది. పెళ్లి  తర్వాత వచ్చే రొమాంటిక్‌ సాంగ్‌  యూత్‌ని బాగా ఆకట్టుకుంటుంది. ఇంటర్వెల్‌ సీన్‌ తర్వాత కథనం ఎలా సాగుతుందో  ఓ అంచనాకు రావొచ్చు.  అయినా కూడా సినిమాపై మాత్రం ఆసక్తి తగ్గదు. సెకండాఫ్‌లో కామెడీ మరింత పండించే స్కోప్‌ ఉన్నా.. దర్శకుడు ఆ దిశగా ఆలోచించలేదు. 

టెస్టుల కోసం హీరో ఆస్పత్రికి వెళ్లే సీన్‌ థియేటర్లలో నవ్వులు పూయిస్తుంది. ఇక చివరి 30 నిమిషాలు అయితే కథ ఎమోషనల్‌గా సాగుతుంది.  సైన్స్‌, శాస్త్రాల కంటే ప్రేమ గొప్పదని చూపించడానికి దర్శకుడు రాసుకున్న సన్నివేశాలు అద్భుతంగా ఉన్నాయి. ఇలాంటి సున్నితమైన అంశాలను అతి సున్నితంగా తెరపై చూపించాడు. క్లైమాక్స్‌ రొటీన్‌గా ఉంటుంది.  కథ, కథనం కొత్తగా లేకున్నా... ఫ్యామిలీ ఆడియన్స్‌ను మెప్పించే సన్నివేశాలు మాత్రం చాలానే ఉన్నాయి. వినసొంపైన పాటలు... అందమైన లొకేషన్స్‌, విజులవ్‌ ఎఫెక్ట్స్‌, నేపథ్య సంగీతం సినిమా స్థాయిని పెంచేశాయి. 

హీరో తండ్రి, నాస్తికుడు లెనిన్‌ సత్యంగా సచిన్‌ ఖేడేకర్‌ తనదైన నటనతో ఆకట్టుకున్నాడు. ప్రవచనకర్త చదరంగం శ్రీనివాసరావుగా మురళీ శర్మ మరోసారి తన అనుభవాన్ని తెరపై చూపించాడు. ఫస్టాఫ్‌లో వెన్నెల కిశోర్‌ కామెడీ బాగా పండింది. జయరాం, రోహిణి, రాహుల్‌ రామకృష్ణతో పాటు మిగిలిన నటీనటులు తమ పాత్రల పరిధిమేర నటించారు. 

ఇక సాంకేతిక విషయాలకొస్తే.. ఈ సినిమాకు మరో ప్రధాన బలం హేషామ్ అబ్దుల్ వహాబ్ సంగీతం. సినిమా విడుదలకు ముందే పాటలు సూపర్‌ హిట్‌ అయ్యాయి. తెరపై కూడా పాటలు వినసొంపుగా, అందగా ఉన్నాయి. నేపథ్య సంగీతం సినిమా స్థాయిని పెంచింది. మురళీ జి. సినిమాటోగ్రఫీ సినిమాకు అదనపు ఆకర్షణ. కశ్మీర్‌ అందాలను తెరపై చక్కగా చూపించాడు. ప్రతి సన్నివేశం చాలా బ్యూటిఫుల్‌గా ఉంటుంది. ఎడిటర్‌ పనితీరు పర్వాలేదు. నిర్మాణ విలువలు సినిమా స్థాయికి తగ్గట్లు ఉన్నతంగా ఉన్నాయి.  -అంజి శెట్టె, సాక్షి వెబ్‌డెస్క్‌

Following the disappointing outcome of "Liger," Vijay Deverakonda was in need of a film that could bring him joy and relief. He believed that "Kushi," a romantic drama, could be the one to achieve this. Has the film lived up to his expectations?

Let's find out.

Story: New BSNL recruit Vilpav (Vijay Deverakonda) falls in love with Aradhya (Samantha), an IT engineer who came to Kashmir with her colleagues. They fall in love and quickly decide to tie the knot.

However, Viplav's (Sachin Khedekar) atheist father and Aradhya's (Murali Sharma) religious preacher father play spoilsport.

Aradhya's dad thinks Viplav and his dad need to do an homam to protect themselves from astrological doshas, but Viplav's dad is an atheist and doesn't buy it.

Viplav and Aradhya decide to run away and tie the knot. How peaceful or troubled will their married life be?

Artistes’ Performances: After the disappointment of "Liger," Vijay Deverakonda feels right at home in his role as the boy next door, Viplav. In this regard, he excels, being the film's primary strength. Vijay Deverakonda harks back to his "Geetha Govindam" days by avoiding the typical mass and action sequences, except for a small fight and a chase sequence.

Samantha appears decent in her "Begum" persona and her performance is poised and subtle. She looks at her best in this film when compared to her recent films. She also did a couple of lip locks.

The first half of the film features the comedy talents of Vennela Kishore, while the second half showcases those of Rahul Ramakrishna.

Murali Sharma fits well into his role as Pravachanakartha, and Sachin Khedekar is right on the mark as an atheist.

Lakshmi plays Samantha's grandmother, and Rohini and Jayaram contribute significantly to the film's emotional core.

Technical Excellence: The musical score is the film's strongest aspect. Hesham Abdul Wahab in his Telugu debut brings out a slew of excellent tracks that have been topping the charts. Visually, the songs are just as enjoyable as it is audibly.

Murali's cinematography is a plus because he creates visually striking shots. The photography in Kashmir is very aesthetically pleasing.

The editing is a big problem. The film drags on for far too long, and there are numerous boring scenes in the second half that could be cut without affecting the story.

Analysis Apart from "Arjun Reddy," Vijay Deverakonda's likable portrayal as the boy next door in films like "Pelli Choopulu" and "Geetha Govandam" has endeared him to both youngsters and family audiences.

Following the disappointment of "Liger," he recognized his strengths and opted for "Kushi," a film that takes him back to his roots. Shiva Nirvana has crafted a story loosely inspired by Mani Rathnam’s "Sakhi," but he introduces a new conflict: atheism versus religion.

Similar to “Sakhi,” we witness an extensive depiction of the love between the hero and heroine. We also observe the challenges faced by this couple after marriage, mirroring elements of “Sakhi.”

The first half of the film, set against the backdrop of Kashmir, is quite boring. In addition, the film loses its momentum after the hero and heroine tie the knot.

The director introduces a metropolitan fight sequence, a protracted exploration of infertility issues, a song about marital life ("pellam"), and more during this phase.

Unfortunately, this entire stretch consumes runtime without significantly contributing to the narrative. Just as the film begins to lose its grip, Shiva Nirvana revitalizes it with an episode set in Kerala.

From this point onward, "Kushi" manages to captivate the audience while evoking emotions. This final emotional episode rescues the movie, making it a decent watch.

The film's strengths lie in its vibrant settings, Vijay Deverakonda’s charismatic presence, Samantha's portrayal as the wife and the songs. However, its drawbacks include predictability, uneven storytelling, and a lack of strong conflict points.

There is a scene in the film that discusses the protagonist's masturbation to collect his semen for testing at a hospital. Heroine asks the hero whom he imagined while collecting, to which he replies that he imagined Kate Winslet from 'Titanic.' Is this necessary in a film that targets a family audience? The only difference is that this particular scene is only included for the USA audience, as it was removed in the Indian version.

However, “Kushi” offers an engaging viewing experience, especially for its family-oriented sequences and entertainment value, despite some issues.

Bottom line: Engaging But Not Entertaining

విప్లవ్ దేవరకొండ (విజయ్ దేవరకొండ) ఆరాధ్య (సమంత)ను చూసి తొలిచూపులోనే ఆమెతో ప్రేమలో పడతాడు. అతన్ని దూరం పెట్టడానికి ఆరాధ్య ఎన్ని అబద్ధాలు చెప్పి తప్పించుకున్నా.. ఎట్టకేలకు చివరకు విప్లవ్ తో ఆమె కూడా ప్రేమలో పడుతుంది. అయితే వీరి ప్రేమకు ఆరాధ్య తండ్రి మరియు ప్రవచన కర్త చదరంగం శ్రీనివాసరావు (మురళీ శర్మ) అంగీకరించడు. అటు విప్లవ్ తండ్రి మరియు నాస్తికుడైన సత్యం (సచిన్ ఖేడేకర్) కూడా వీరి పెళ్లిని అంగీకరించడు. ఈ క్రమంలో జరిగిన నాటకీయ పరిణామాల నేపథ్యంలో తల్లిదండ్రులను ఎదిరించి విప్లవ్ – ఆరాధ్య పెళ్లి చేసుకుంటారు. మరి పెళ్లి తర్వాత వీరి జీవితం ఎలా సాగింది ?, వీరి లైఫ్ లో జరిగిన ఊహించని మలుపులు ఏమిటి ?, చివరకు విప్లవ్ – ఆరాధ్య కథ ఎలా ముగిసింది ? అనేది మిగిలిన కథ.

ప్లస్ పాయింట్స్ :

గుడ్ కాన్సెప్ట్ తో పాటు ఫీల్ గుడ్ లవ్ సీన్స్ మరియు ఎమోషనల్ గా సాగే ఫ్యామిలీ ఎమోషన్స్.. అలాగే డీసెంట్ గా అనిపించే నటీనటుల పనితీరు ఈ ఖుషికి హైలైట్స్ గా నిలిచాయి. ముఖ్యంగా ఓ ప్రవచన కర్త – ఓ నాస్తికుడి మధ్య జరిగిన సంఘర్షణ.. ప్రేమ కథలో కూడా కాన్ ఫ్లిక్ట్ ను పెంచడం చాలా బాగుంది. విజయ్ దేవరకొండ – సమంత కూడా తమ పాత్రలకు ప్రాణం పోశారు. అలాగే శివ నిర్వాణ రాసిన కథ మరియు పాత్రలు కూడా కొత్తగా పెళ్లి అయిన వారి జీవితాల్లోని సంఘటనలు పరిస్థితుల ఆధారంగా సాగుతూ ఆకట్టుకుంటాయి.

భర్త పాత్రలో విజయ్ దేవరకొండ చక్కని నటనను కనబరిచాడు. పెళ్లి అయిన తర్వాత ఓ సగటు భర్తగా చాలా బాగా నటించాడు. ముఖ్యంగా ఎమోషనల్ సన్నివేశాల్లో సెటిల్డ్ పెర్ఫార్మెన్స్ తో తన పాత్రకి పూర్తి న్యాయం చేశాడు. మెయిన్ గా సెకెండ్ హాఫ్ లో హోమం సీక్వెన్స్ లో అలాగే సమంత వెళ్ళిపోయాక వచ్చే సీన్స్ లో విజయ్ నటన సినిమాకే హైలెట్ గా నిలుస్తోంది. అలాగే విజయ్ కి – సమంతకి మధ్య కెమిస్ట్రీ కూడా బాగా అలరిస్తుంది

ఇక కథానాయకగా నటించిన సమంత తన పాత్రలో చాలా చక్కగా నటించింది. తన స్క్రీన్ ప్రెజెన్స్ తో పాటు తన నటనతోనూ ఆకట్టుకుంది. చదరంగం శ్రీనివాసరావుగా మురళీ శర్మ, నాస్తికుడు సత్యంగా సచిన్ ఖేడేకర్ తమ నాచ్యురల్ నటనతో ఆకట్టుకున్నారు. ఎప్పటిలాగే తన శైలి పాత్రలో కనిపించిన రోహిణి, లక్ష్మి కూడా బాగా నటించారు. ఇక మిగిలిన నటీనటులు కూడా తమ పాత్ర పరిధి మేరకు బాగా నటించారు.

మైనస్ పాయింట్స్ :

దర్శకుడు శివ నిర్వాణ తీసుకున్న కథాంశం బాగున్నప్పటికీ.. కథనం మాత్రం కొన్ని చోట్ల సింపుల్ గా సాగుతుంది. ముఖ్యంగా ఫస్ట్ హాఫ్ లోని కశ్మీర్ సీక్వెన్స్ అలాగే సెకెండ్ హాఫ్ లో కొన్ని చోట్ల స్క్రీన్ ప్లే స్లోగా సాగుతుంది. ఇక హీరోహీరోయిన్ల మధ్య వచ్చే కొన్ని లవ్ సీన్స కూడా రెగ్యులర్ గానే సాగుతాయి. మొత్తానికి దర్శకుడు తాను అనుకున్న కంటెంట్ ను స్క్రీన్ మీద బాగా ఎలివేట్ చేసినా.. సినిమాలో కొన్ని రొటీన్ సీన్స్ ను ట్రిమ్ చేసి వుంటే సినిమాకి ఇంకా ప్లస్ అయ్యేది.

సాంకేతిక విభాగం :

ఇక సాంకేతిక నిపుణుల గురించి మాట్లాడుకుంటే.. శివ నిర్వాణ దర్శకుడిగా మంచి కథాంశంతో ఆకట్టుకున్నాడు. అలాగే ఆయన టేకింగ్ కూడా చాలా బాగుంది. సంగీత దర్శకుడు హిషామ్ అబ్ధుల్ వహాబ్ అందించిన పాటలు బాగున్నాయి. అదే విధంగా బ్యాక్ గ్రౌండ్ స్కోర్ కూడా కొన్ని కీలక సన్నివేశాల్లో చాలా బాగుంది. ఇక ఎడిటర్ అనవసరమైన సీన్స్ ని ఇంకా టైట్ గా ట్రీమ్ చేసి ఉండి ఉంటే, సినిమాకి ప్లస్ అయ్యేది. సినిమాటోగ్రఫీ బాగుంది. నిర్మాతలు నవీన్ ఎర్నేని-వై.రవిశంకర్ పాటించిన నిర్మాణ విలువలు చాలా బాగున్నాయి.

ఫీల్ గుడ్ లవ్ అండ్ ఫ్యామిలీ డ్రామాగా వచ్చిన ఈ చిత్రం ఎమోషనల్ గా సాగుతూ ఆకట్టుకుంది. దర్శకుడు శివ నిర్వాణ నాస్తికత్వానికి – భక్తికి సంబంధించి మంచి పాయింట్ ను తీసుకుని.. భార్యాభర్తల మధ్య మంచి ఎమోషనల్ సన్నివేశాలతో బాగానే ఆకట్టుకున్నాడు. గుడ్ కాన్సెప్ట్, ఫీల్ గుడ్ లవ్ సీన్స్, ఎమోషనల్ గా సాగే ఫ్యామిలీ ఎమోషన్స్ ఈ సినిమాలో హైలైట్స్ గా నిలిచాయి. ఐతే, ఈ సినిమాలో కొన్ని సీక్వెన్స్ స్లోగా సాగడం, అలాగే కొన్ని రొటీన్ సీన్స్ సినిమాకి మైనస్ అయ్యాయి. కాకపోతే, విజయ్ దేవరకొండ – సమంత తమ నటనతో సినిమాని మరో లెవల్ కి తీసుకువెళ్లారు. ముఖ్యంగా వారిద్దరీ కెమిస్ట్రీ చాలా బాగుంది. ఓవరాల్ గా ఈ ఖుషి ప్రేక్షకులను బాగా మెప్పిస్తోంది.

Kushi review: This family man story of Viplav is overpowered by too many cliches

Samantha and Vijay add charm; music is the only saving grace; cinematography fails to capture the beauty of Kashmir Valley.

Vijay Deverakonda could ace any sort of character — a bruised boyfriend, a pugilist who can shower non-stop punches, and sometimes a family man, too.

An optimal dose of depth in his character would create magic on the screen.

His latest movie Kushi , which is packed deftly as a family entertainer, hit the theatres across the globe on Friday, 1 September. Let’s see how it fares:

Viplav (Vijay Deverakonda) is a free-spirited young man, who thinks only a government job would make his life happy. He joined the state-run telephone firm BSNL as a Junior Telecom Officer (JTO).

And his first posting in Kashmir makes him thrilled. Watching the sky-touching Himalayas, Viplav is awestruck by the beauty, so much so that he reminisces about the works of Mani Ratnam and AR Rahman.

But he stumbles upon another beauty called Aradhya at Dal Lake. Smitten by Aradhya’s beauty, Viplav pursues his love seriously. Eventually, they both end up tying the knot by convincing elders from both sides.

How does their marriage bring fissures in the families from both sides? What Viplav does to find peace in his marriage life is the story in short.

Too cliched.

The story in the first half darts through the Kashmir valley — Anantnag, Pulwama and Dal Lake in Srinagar where the protagonist Viplav finds his love Aradhya, and reaches Mamleshwar Temple in Pahalgam.

There’s a terrorist attack on Viplav’s vehicle, but the Indian Army thwarts it.

The love happens so quickly between Viplav and Aradhya as if you caught a superfast express at Kashmir to reach Hyderabad, but the train is delayed by several hours.

The way the protagonist pursues his love Aradya looks so outdated and even senseless.

He calls her “Begum” and the way he follows her and convinces her looks as if he is pleasing someone at the Necklace Road near Hussain Sagar. Maybe the director had forgotten that he was shooting in Kashmir. Phew..!

This JTO gets serious at one point and promises Aradhya to help her in finding her brother Feroz. This, he goes after the boys with Feroz, abducts them and brings them to Aradhya in the valley. Dude, is this Kashmir or the old city of Hyderabad tell me?

There’s a sequence where the hero utters a dialogue in the local dialect while seeking alms. “ Mozhi Dhi Ken.. Katri Dhi Kayya ,” for which the locals throw an apple at him whenever he shouts in front of a house.

Vijay’s character, who speaks manageable Hindi evokes laughter while he tries hard to win the heart of Aradhya. So funny that he would take the help of Sania Mirza to get his girl back from Pakistan.

The second half shows how Viplav and Aradhya enter wedlock against the wishes of their elders hailing from two different communities. But too many cliches in the film let you down.

Sometimes filmmakers end up making cringe scenes while trying hard to deliver the message like this one: a bunch of youngsters teasing girls in Metro Rail.

Aradhya is a victim, too. And Viplav thrashes the gang black and blue just to show that he loves her so much. Yes, a fight in a metro rail. Can you imagine?

Other senseless sequences keep testing your patience towards the end. A party sequence where Srikanth Iyenger, the boss of Aradhya, insults Aradhya’s husband for consuming too much liquor. And later followed by a peppy number… Ufff!

Performances.

You could perhaps keep eulogising about Vijay Deverakonda’s looks on the screen. And if you’re a girl, you certainly couldn’t stop thinking and blushing about the character Viplav.

Well, he is a charmer. But the character is not on par with his earlier works, at least for performance.

Samantha looks as young as ever. She makes her contemporaries jealous.

Aradhya is an independent woman who has lofty dreams of working for on-site locations and excelling in her career. The way her character is designed looks so meek.

Sharanya Pradeep as Aradhya’s bestie and office mate is good.

Vennela Kishore plays a Bengali, who gets primary education at Puttaparthi. His comedy evokes good laughter in the first half.

Murali Sharma as Chadarangam Srinivas Rao, and Sachin Khedekar as an atheist gave their best.

Music is the saviour.

The music is the only saving grace for Kushi , which barely has any story in it. Singles like “ Na Roja Nuvve “, the title song “ Kushi “, and “ Aradhya ” draws whistles in theatres.

The camera work in the film looks rich. But the creativity isn’t exhibited well while showing the locations of Kashmir valley — Dal Lake, Pahalgam and other scenic beauties.

You get to see either the drone shots or the regular wide angle which don’t add any value.

Kushi is a love tale initially, then becomes a family entertainer, and towards the end, it gets tilted with outlandish writing and cliched sequences.

It doesn’t matter if you’re a fan or a family man, it leaves a hole in your pocket!

Kushi director Shiva Nirvana reveals ‘the greatest thing’ about Samantha Ruth Prabhu

Actor Samantha Ruth Prabhu will next be seen in the Telugu romantic drama Kushi. The film is directed by Shiva Nirvana, who is working with Samantha for the second time after 2019 movie Majili. The director says that bringing together good artistes like Samantha and Vijay Deverakonda brings him great joy.

Talking about working with Samantha again, Shiva told indianexpress.com , “I always respect a great artiste. I worked with Samantha for Majili . Before Majili, I knew of her as a very good artiste but when I started working with her, I came to know how amazing she can act. She can translate my lines very easily and she can improvise my lines during performance.”

The filmmaker, who has also helmed movies such as Ninnu Kori and Tuck Jagadish, also shared that both Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Vijay Deverakonda have the capability to surprise him.

“Every director wants to be surprised on sets and I am always looking for that surprise. When I am in front of the monitor, I want to enjoy the scene like an audience. When I see Sam or Vijay’s (Deverakonda) expressions, I forget that I am a director, I will enjoy like an audience. I can imagine myself like the audience sitting in the theatre. So, when Sam gives an extraordinary performance, or expression or even a wink also, it makes me so happy as an audience. So, when you get that feeling, it means a lot,” said the filmmaker.

Samantha Ruth Prabhu has been battling the autoimmune disease myositis. However, Shiva Nirvana says that every time Samantha stood in front of the camera, she forgot everything else that was happening around her and this is her superpower.

“She is super strong,” says Shiva and adds, “The greatest thing about Sam is that once she is in front of the camera, whatever tragedy, shock, whatever bad news is in her mind – for that short while – she can come out of that situation and give her best. Whatever it is, she will leave it outside the sets, she will not bring the problems to the sets. That is the greatest thing in Sam.”

Kushi is set to release in theatres on September 1.
