This project is available at Brushless DC Motor Driver

8. HVDC Power Supply Design

Circuits like Geiger counters, insect zappers, Nixie tubes, and sensors require high-voltage direct-current (HVDC) supplies. There are various types of HVDC supplies available in the market, including voltage doublers or quadruple, flyback converters, and boost converters.

Some of these have low current output capacity. But with the right calculations using basic boost conversion formulae, we may achieve HVDC supplies capable of clean and high current capacity. Presented here is a boost converter design using an MC34063 DC-DC converter.

This project is available at HVDC Power Supply Design

9. Micro Inverter Electrical Project

A simple low-power inverter circuit is described here, which converts 12V DC into 230V AC. It can be used to power very light loads like night lamps and cordless telephones but can be modified into a powerful inverter by adding more MOSFETs.

This project is available at Micro Inverter

10. Automatic Anchor Light

Federal and international regulations require boats to carry lights during sunset, sunrise, and in conditions with restricted visibility. The number and colors of light vary with the size of the vessel. A masthead anchor light is out of fashion as it is too high above the water level.

This makes it difficult to judge the position of the boat, especially in a pitch-dark anchorage.

This project is a compact yet inexpensive automatic anchor light integrated with an ambient light sensor that turns it on and off automatically.

This project is available at Automatic Anchor light

11. High-Impedance Audio Buffer With JFET

The buffer circuit described here is useful in enhancing the AC input impedance of audio amplifiers used with pickups in musical instruments. Signal sources for amplifiers and passive pickups for electric guitars require very high impedance of over 5-mega-ohm.

This can be achieved easily with a junction field-effect transistor (JFET) but may require a special design of the printed circuit board ( PCB ), appropriate construction techniques of the box, and proper cables and connectors.

This project provides a solution for a high-impedance, low-cost, low-quiescent current, buffer-follower based on PN4393 JFET.

This project is available at High-Impedance Audio Buffer With JFET

12. PIN Diode-Based Fire Sensor

This is an ultra-sensitive fire sensor that activates an alarm when it detects fire. In this circuit, a sensitive PIN diode is used as a fire sensor for longer-range fire detection. It detects visible light and infrared (IR) in the range of 430 nm – 1100 nm.

Visible light and IR from the fire activate the sensor to trigger the alarm. It also detects sparks in the mains wiring and if these persist, it gives a warning alarm. The anode can easily be identified from the top-view flat surface of the photodiode.

A small solder point to which a thin wire is connected is the anode and the other one is the cathode terminal.

This project is available at PIN Diode-Based Fire Sensor

13. Plus-Minus 5V Supply From 9V Battery

Op-amps require a dual-polarity supply for proper operation. When working with a battery supply, it becomes difficult to get a dual power supply for the op-amps.

Presented here is a simple circuit that provides ±5V from a 9V battery. This is one of the most interesting projects among Electrical Engineering Project Ideas.

This project is available at   Plus-minus 5V Supply From 9V Battery

14. Infrared Motion-Sensing Relay Switch

This project is designed for use with all kinds of medium-power automobile/domestic 12V DC loads. It is a simple solid-state relay (SSR) switch, controlled by a standard passive infrared ( PIR ) motion sensor module.

A PIR sensor is an electronic device that can measure IR light radiating from objects in its field of view. Apparent motion is detected when an IR source with one temperature (such as a human being) passes in front of an IR source with another temperature (such as a wall).

The PIR sensor module, centered on a PIR sensor, has elements made of crystalline material that generates an electric charge when exposed to IR radiation.

This project is available at Infrared Motion-Sensing Relay Switch

15. Low-cost LPG Leakage Detector

The circuit for an LPG leakage detector is readily available in the market, but it is extremely expensive and usually based on a microcontroller (MCU). This project presents a low-cost LPG detector that you can build a circuit easily.

The main objective of the circuit is to detect LPG leakage anywhere. At the heart of the circuit is dual comparator IC LM393 (IC2). It is used to compare two different voltages, in this case, reference voltage and MQ-6 gas sensor output voltage.

This project is available at Low-Cost LPG Leakage Detector

16. Low-Cost Dusk-Dawn Controller

This dusk-dawn controller is built around a light-dependent resistor among other components. The common battery supply is used for operating the circuit as well as for load, that is, for power LED/small inverter circuits.

Resistors work as voltage dividers and current limiters in the circuit. LEDs are used as circuit deactivation indicators. An n-channel MOSFET is used for the switching action of an LED light.

This project is available at Low-Cost Dusk-Dawn Controller

17. Auto Power Switching Mains, Solar Inverter, or Generator

This project is based on the AEIOU heuristic framework of the Design Engineering Approach. Design for Performance, Safety, and Reliability is ensured in terms of switching modules. Design for Ergonomics and Aesthetics is ensured in terms of Priority set by the user regarding the availability of Power Source.

Design for Manufacturability and Assembly is ensured in terms of Generator, Inverter, and Solar Plates.

Also, based on choice and availability, different circuits using Eagle can be worked upon.

This project is available at Auto Power Switching Mains, Solar Inverters, or Generator

18. Signal Generator and Inverter Using NE555 Timers

Often we require a squarewave signal generator with adjustable frequency, almost equal high and low output pulses, and adjustable amplitudes.

This project is available at Signal Generator and Inverter Using NE555 Timers

19. Configurable RS232 to TTL to I2C Adapter

RS232 signals cover a much longer distance than standard TTL and I2C signals.

These signals have better noise immunity as well. RS232 is a well-known standard supported by many popular ICs and therefore is still widely used. Sometimes we want to send TTL and I2C signals over a longer distance. This project describes how these signals can be extended through RS232 lines.

This project is available at Configurable RS232 to TTL to I2C adapter

20. Vibration Activated Smart CRO Probe

This is a simple, low-cost, energy-saving, and device-saving circuit for an electronics lab, service center, electronics workshop, or wherever a CRO is in use. Generally, in a repair station, a CRO is used for a very short time. But in most cases, the user fails to switch off the CRO immediately after use.

The service engineer mostly concentrates on faults rather than noticing whether the CRO is on or off. A vibration sensor turns the CRO off when the probe is idle for a specified amount of time.

This project is available at the Vibration Activated smart CRO probe

21. 4 Channel Multi-mode Audio Amplifier

Sometimes we need configurable multichannel amplifiers for experiments or for use in offices or schools. Here is a project based on TDA1554Q, configured for multi-mode functions with four-channel outputs. It has four channels and each channel can provide around 11W over a load of 2 ohms and around 6W over a load of 4 ohms.

The circuit will also work with loads of 4 ohms to 16 ohms. The gain of each channel is fixed at 20dB in single-channel mode and 26dB in BTL mode.

This project is available at 4 channel multi-mode Audio amplifier

22. Design and analysis of single-stage amplifier using C++

Many formulae are required to calculate the parameters involved in a circuit of a transistor-based audio amplifier. Some of these values involve resistors, coupling capacitors, bypass capacitors, power consumption, and the current flowing through different components.

As compared to the existing DAQ system, we have improved ours in terms of speed, accuracy, precision and user-friendliness. The satellite senses the characteristics of the of the object, passes it in the form of radiations, sensors convert them into detectable pulse-train which are counted by the counters, the count is then passed on the GUI where it is monitored and useful results are deducted. We designed a data acquisition system, which runs through USB port of any PC/ Laptop. This is an efficient system in terms of speed and errors probability. The 12, 32-bit counters take 12 input signals (one each) and count the external events data on each signal. At PC end the data is received through a GUI that is compatible with windows environment. It is a two-way working the PC also sends instruction about beginning and termination of the process along with receiving the signal data. It is one of the innovative electrical project abstract for final year students .

5. Digital Stethoscope

A stethoscope is a tool used by doctors during auscultation (the process of detecting body sounds). Normally this is done through a non-electronic stethoscope but a digital stethoscope gives the user certain advantages over it. A digital stethoscope amplifies the sound, filters out noise,   stores it, output waveform or other valuable data and provides computer aided diagnosis CAD tools assisting doctors to analyze these sound signals. In this project we am to implement a digital stethoscope with amplification, noise filtering, storage and waveform display features using the Spartan 3E EPGA or a similar PLD. We will capture sound signals using a microphone then lay it back in real time and at the same time forward the data to a user-friendly waveform display. This is very good electrical project abstract.

6. EEG Acquisition System for Brain Computer Interface

The overall objectives of this project is to design and implement a portable EEG acquisition system operated b y battery which has the capability of picking EEG signals from the motor cortex area of the brain. This project is further divided into three parts which are the acquisition, gain and filtering. Reusable gold plated electrodes will be placed over the motor cortex are according to the 10-20 electrode placement system to acquire raw noisy EEG. It is pre amplified by INA114 op-amps and then further amplified and filtered using TI ADS1298 using various on-board tools. To transfer the clean filtered data to the PC , we use Raspberry Pi to translate the serial interface to SPI interface. Successful implementation of the final system would not only bench for future BCI research but also,  the acquired clean signal can benefit all involved in the use of EEG for b rain computer interfacing and clinical diagnosis.

8. Energy conservation system with Pre-Paid billing and advanced user interface

Traditional household energy meters in Pakistan are postpaid that makes the bill recovery minimal. The same problem is being faced with Water and Gas meters. Secondly the most common problem faced by the consumer is using the resources beyond their purchasing power making it impossible le for them to pay the bills. The Energy conservation system with pre-paid billing and advanced user interface will help the user to buy electricity, gas and water bills, which in turn will make it easier for the government to generate electricity with the recovered money. When the system is connected with the main   server it will also be helpful to know the energy consumption fo each unit, so any loss of energy at a particular unit will be identified and theft could easily be controlled.

9. FPGA Based Time to Digital Converter and its application in Coincidence Counting and Lifetime measurements

Timing measurement are integral to any physical experiment. With modern FPGAs, one can measure time below the Nano-Second. We use an interpolation technique to measure the time difference b/w two plus-edges with a 625 ps resolution. This Time-to-Digital Converter (TDC) is implemented on Virtex-5 LX50T. The differential Non-linearity upto a range of 10us is also found using a density test. Finally, the TDC will be used in an experiment to measure the lifetime of a muon, which is a cosmic particle.

10. Design and implementation of Ground Control Station (GCS) for Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) along with a camera feed stabilization

Ground Control Station will be implemented on a computer based application and then it will be translated to an embedded processor. There will be two features of GCS. Firstly, it will show location of UAV on Digital map and secondly, it will display a stabilized video feed from UAV. The feed stabilization is done by using Arduino based controller mounted on UAV which is also used to decode data packets form GPS and transmitted then wirelessly to the Ground Control Station. The aim of this project is to use it in military based applications where the surveillance and reconnaissance for the enemy camps is very important.

11. High Voltage Power Supply for Giraffe Radar

Giraffe Radar is a surveillance that is shape for operation with medium and short range surfaces to air weapon and air control. High voltage refers to an output of an order of thousands of volts. The purpose of this HV power supply is to replace the existing power supplies which have rendered the equipment out of order. In this project we’ve designed a circuit which convert 24v DC to 11-16Kv DC output. Another constraint on this project is to consume less then 0.3A current. We designed a circuit to convert DC to AC and then used a flyback transformer to achieve desired out. Our second approach is to use a step up transformer and then use voltage doublers to achieve desired HV output.

12. High voltage power supply (HVPS)

We are making a high voltage power supply that is useful for the Operation of Low Attitude Aircraft Detection System (LAADS). The output consists of four different voltages -150v, 700vm 11kv and 25kv. The input voltage is 28v dc. We convert the input into the pulsating DC, which is used as the input for the flyback transformer. The flyback transformer generates the required outputs. Varying the frequency and duty cycl3e of the pulse (PWM), we generate the other required outputs. Since it is a high voltage power supply we also take care of current and voltage and add fuses to protect the whole system.

13. Inverter control for the drive of single phase ac induction motor

The renewable energy sources can’t provide the sufficient starting current to drive the single phase Ac induction motor that contains a capacitor. Due to energy crisis these days, it has become the need of an hour to utilize the renewable energy sources, in providing power the house hold appliances which mostly comprises of AC single phase induction motor. The generation of sinusoidal PWM form the controller, without using capacitor, will minimize the effect of higher starting induction current of the motor to the level that it can be operated in a user friendly manner. The use of DC inverter takes care of this issue in the best possible manner without having higher starting induction current and can be operated easily on renewable energy source.

14.Thermal-Visible Video Fusion for Moving Target Tracking and Classification

The aim of the project is to create a standalone system for automatic detection and tracking of unauthorized entities such as firearms on live video feed by integrating useful aspects of both digital and thermal videos. A live video feed from IR NV thermal camera ‘Sophie Sight’ is converted to digital frames using frame grabber card and is then streamed to Raspberry Pi 2, the ARM processor runs along with GPU to perform detection, tracking and classification of humans having prohibited armaments. The fused version of both videos is then streamed out through HDMI cable and is display ed on the screen.

15. Perimeter Intrusion Detection system

Perimeter security is an effective determent to intruders with metal fences being the most common form of physical barrier. The most determined intruder can however, defeat most types of physical barrier, usually by cutting through or climbing over the barrier. Many electronic security systems focus on detecting intruders after they have entered the property. Perimeter intrusion detection system are used to detect presence of intruder or some other anomaly at the boundary allocated of room specific area such as factories and military bases. A micro-phonic coaxial cable is the main sensor cable. The sensor cable detects intrusion based on “Electret effect”. Fence is divided into zones to increase the detection efficiency. Usually one microprocessor is used for two zones. Microprocessor is used to filter out false nuisances. If intrusion is detected, information is communicated to control room and appropriate response can be generated.

16. Power Ankle Foot Prosthesis

The human ankle provides a significant amount of net positive work during the stance period of walking, especially at moderate to fast walking speed. On the contrary, conventional ankle-foot prostheses are completely passive during stance, and consequently, cannot provide net positive work. Clinical studies indicate that trans-tibial amputees using conventional prostheses exhibit higher gait metabolic rates as compared to intact individuals. The objective of this project is build and run a prototype of an intelligent powered ankle foot prosthesis based on electromyography, capable of providing active mechanical power at terminal stance, can improve amputee metabolic walking economy compared to a passive/passive-elastic prosthesis. A powered prosthesis is designed and built that comprise a unidirectional spring, configured in parallel with a force-controllable actuator with series elasticity. The prosthesis to minic human ankle walking behavior, in particular, the power generation characteristics observed in normal human walking.

17. Robust control design approaches to formation controls of UAVS

The formation control has been one of most challenging problem in multi robot system. Multi agent system is a dynamic system comprising of several agents. The formation control means a grope of agents coordinated with each other to maintain the shape and distances from each other and achieving the goals of formation at the same time. Formation control has applications in UAVS, satellites, drones and platoon cars. The aim of this research based project to design a robust controller for a formation of vehicles using Linear Matrix Inequalities (LMIs), graph theory and model decomposition technique. The designed controller is robust to perturbations and guarantees stability and performance of a dynamic multi agent system on individual and on formation level.

18. Secure communication link

Our aim is to design a hardware architecture using FPGA kit programmed in Verilog (HDL) to provide secure communication. The hardware designed will be able to receive a voice signal, analyze it and encrypt it before transmitting to the receiving end of the hardware. At the receiver the hardware would be to analyze the signal and decry-pt it. After description the signal would be converted to analog form and could be listened. The motivation of this project is to create a sand-alone device using ADVANCED ENCRYPTION STANDARDS for providing secure communication to military, intelligence, banking systems and/or any organization in the corporate world that intends to securely and confidentially communicate. Ur objectives are to provide a 100% Hardware Platform that is Hack Immune, Easily configurable and is cost effective solution.

19. Smart Electric Meter

Smart Metering technology makes it possible to provide the customer promptly with current information about their energy consumption and their energy cost. A huge amount of row data is collected by smart meters and sensors form the end user and different part of the network to the computation system where the data would be automatically updated without sending an individual from the suppliers to the consumers’ houses. We are aiming to design a meter which produces results which are predictable, scalable (the consumption can be monitored as well as customized according to the need of consume), flexible, secured (protecting private data of the user) and simple to use. The data will repeatedly update on the server and cloud. We are looking forward to making an app at the end for our customer’s feasibility. The app will keep on updating the user with current energy consumption and record previous history too.

20. Stun Gun

This project is about designing, implementing and packaging a high voltage electroshock weapon (otherwise known as a stun gun) that can temporarily paralyze a human subject, effectively helping the law enforcement agencies’ personnel carrying the weapon. The weapon delivers very high voltage (50kg peak), very low current pulses, that can penetrate nearly 0.1-0.5 inches of clothing (or any other insulating layers), at 10-20 pulses per second. This electrical signal mixes with the neuro-muscular system’s electrical signal, disrupting the brain’s control over muscles. The circuit consists two step-up stages, and is packaged into a 3d printed plastic package designed while keeping user’s safety in mind.

21. Three Phase Solar Inverter

Pakistan’s progress has come to a halt due to the energy crisis. The production industry of Pakistan is suffering form constant shutdowns. The aim of this project is to implement a 3-phase solar inverter to drive a half horse power 3 phase induction motor from 48V solar panel. The input voltage from solar panel is stepped up to about 400V sing a boost converter. Then this DC voltage is converted to AC (220V 50Hz) using a modified pulse width modulated inverter. This device has large applications in industry and form domestic purposes. Three-phase solar inverter is environment friendly and provides uninterrupted power to industrial loads during power outages. It can also reduce power cost by supplying solar power during daytime. It is an appropriate solution of off grid industries like mining petroleum and aerospace. Another advantage is that voltage is regulated without using a transformer. Overall device provides an economic solution for 3 phase industrial applications.

22. Tumour Targeting through Respiratory Rate Detection using Microwaves

The movement of tumor due to respiration causes the task of radiation therapy to become very complicated. This cause the disruption of healthy cell activity by the heavy radiation, which is intended for the destruction of the cancerous cells. To overcome this problem there is a need for the precise targeting of the tumour location, Microwaves radar sensors help in effective physiological sensing by transmitting the microwave signal towards the target and observing the reflected signal. This method is convenient and accurate due to its non-contact nature and insensitivity due to penetrative nature of microwaves. This is crucial because many a time condition of the patient is critical and due to this the respiration rate cannot be measured using conventional methods. Non-contact and non-invasive measurement of breathing rate uses the principle of Doppler shift as the movement of chest all creates a phase difference b/w the incident and the reflected microwaves. The correlation of CT scan and breathing rate can be used for effective tumor targeting, Physiological sensing finds applications in many areas namely military, biomedical and rescue operations.

23. Getter Activation tool for Sophie thermal sight

Pakistan army in all the ongoing operations is using Sophie thermal sight. It is a French made thermal sight we have to send tit abroad after every four years for its greater activation. It has carved wastage of time and resources, which are crucial right no because of the operations. Our project is to make a tool for getter activation so that this device can be maintained within Pakistan to save both time and money.

You can visit all the posts in the category “ Project ” to develop innovative research projects for electrical engineering.

You can grab “ Electric Vehicle Research Projects ” eBook

Electrical engineering is a professional engineering discipline generally deals with the application of electricity, electronics, and electromagnetism.

Read interesting facts about electrical engineering ( Wikipedia )

Let’s focus on electrical project ideas. As I mentioned earlier its quite difficult to read all posts in the blog and find innovative electric vehicle project ideas.

Here is an idea!

This article would help you to have a quick overview of the posts and related research project ideas.

I would update this post often so that to have an inclusion of project ideas from all new posts.

Kindly bookmark this post and visit for updates. Or you can subscribe to our mailing list to get updates on latest posts. One more option – follow us on social media to get updates!

How to use these ideas for electrical engineering projects

We are going to list a few major projects in electrical engineering from different blog posts published in GetElectricVehicle.com

Each sentence that writes in bold italics letters would be expanded and developed as electrical engineering projects.

Once a point is selected as project topic search for related latest articles in the below technical journals.

  • IEEE Xplore (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers)

It’s highly recommended to have a clear detailed picture of the topic that we select and what advancements are already been happened in the field.

#1 What are driving cycles and how to develop one for electric vehicle simulation?

Let’s start with driving cycles and see how to develop one driving cycle for EV simulation. It’s available right in the above post #1.

Yeah, from the blog post I would say that following are a few electrical engineering project ideas.

  • Electric vehicle model simulation

Develop a mathematical model of an electric vehicle in Matlab . It’s an interesting as well as challenging task indeed.

A closed loop electric vehicle system which takes driving cycle (somehow represents driver’s torque demand from the vehicle motor) as input and outputs expected velocity, state of charge (SoC) of battery, operating points of the motor, inverter, etc.

Electric vehicle closed loop mathematical modeling comprises the following steps

  • Battery modeling

I would say battery modeling of an electric vehicle would be another electrical engineering research project area.

I did a project on performance improved battery modeling for electrical vehicle simulation. You can find the paper presented at the IEEE conference held at IIT Delhi (ICPS 2016) here .

Internal resistance, self-discharge, etc. had been taken into account in the battery model.

Life of the battery will be affected by a lot of factors. Battery model can be developed including life modeling as well.

  • Inverter modeling

An electrical vehicle makes use of SVPWM (State vector pulse width modulation) inverter to control the speed of the motor.

Simulation and hardware of SVPWM inverter with enhancements, especially to drive electric vehicle motors would emerge as a good project. Please think about possible enhancements in the inverter ( harmonics elimination and switching loss reduction at high frequency in SVPWM)

  • Electric machine modeling

Electric machines are being modeled for vehicle simulation as efficiency maps . Efficiency maps are the contours that represent the efficiency of the electrical machine at a different speed and torque combination.

Efficiency maps would have speed in the X-axis, torque in Y-axis, and corresponding efficiency in Z-axis.

Efficiency maps for an electrical machine can be experimentally created performing load test in the lab. Interpolated data points would give a continuous contour of an efficiency map.

Induction motor equivalent circuit can be modeled and performance of the motor at different loads can be analyzed.

  • Driver modeling (forward facing simulation)
  • Vehicle Control Unit modeling

A vehicle control unit (VCU) is the component where we can implement and test our logic for optimal operation of the electric vehicle .

VCU controls and decides torque from motor considering maximum and minimum torque limits, energy consumption from the battery, how much energy can be delivered in accordance with all other constraints (thermal, mechanical, electrical, etc.)

A complete vehicle model can be used for a variety of analysis . For example minimization of energy loss , optimized selection of components .

Vehicle models are readily available in Matlab and there is a free tool called Advisor (Advanced Vehicle Simulator) which is highly customizable. I recommend you to use the tool for your projects.

With the help of a complete vehicle model battery performance can be analyzed. How does the SOC vary with distance traveled?

#2 How do we develop an electric scooter yourself?

Electric scooter development is a hardware DIY project that could turn into a highly reputed hardware and analysis academic project. Hardware projects always top in the list of electrical engineering projects.

Post #2 explains how to develop an electric scooter yourself. The calculations needed to select the appropriate motors , components , circuits , etc. are explained in post #3 (you could modify accordingly).

Calculations and analysis of prior hardware implementation itself would be a creative project. Once the components are selected based on an open loop electric vehicle model (post #3 ) hardware of the vehicle can be developed.

The real-time analysis would be the next step. How the vehicle performs , how is the energy consumption , how SOC of the battery varies, charging time , optimal charging .

Do you start thinking deeply about the ideas that I share in the post? Could you get new innovative thoughts on EEE projects?

Keep your brain engaged!

#3 How to calculate the energy consumption of an electric car

Open loop electric vehicle model (that’s what I would like to call the set of equations that represent an electric vehicle) developed for backward facing simulation of an electric vehicle.

Its a comparatively easiest model that would be used for a lot of electrical academic projects. I developed and used the same for my electrical engineering MTech project. You can also use open loop EV model for electrical engineering projects that get from this article. 🙂

If a driving cycle is given as input, it calculates energy consumption at each stage of the powertrain . Component rating selection can be performed using the model.

Performance of vehicle in different driving cycles can be analyzed. Energy consumption minimization would be analyzed.

How does a slight variation of efficiency of the component affect the overall energy consumption of the vehicle?

Most critical factor (most sensitive factor) of electric vehicle design can be found out.

A vehicle that supposed to serve in a city and hilly areas differ in their design. Aerodynamic design , the mass of the vehicle, etc. are factors that affect the energy consumption of the electric vehicle.

Open loop simulation of the electric vehicle in different driving cycles could help to determine the factors to be considered for optimal vehicle design .

#4 Electric car battery modeling and life analysis

The battery is the component that supplies energy to an electric vehicle. A simulation model of an electric vehicle battery can be developed in Matlab and other software.

Life of battery affects the overall cost of an electric vehicle. Regenerative braking of the electric vehicle can be a good project.

Read about Regenerative braking: Advantages, disadvantages, and challenges

It’s not always possible to apply regenerative braking on an electric car.

Percentage of recuperated energy calculation , improvement of energy recuperation , impact and effectiveness of regenerative braking at low speed , etc are a few MTech electrical engineering project ideas.

Battery life depends on the frequency of charge-discharge cycles . Regenerative braking affects the life of the battery. Analyze how regenerative braking affects the battery.

Supercapacitor integrated battery system for an electric vehicle could be used to store energy that generated during braking. It can enhance the battery life preventing sudden charging and discharging .

Economical and technical analysis of supercapacitor-battery integrated system can be an EEE project.

How could be the energy split between battery and supercapacitor for so that the life of the battery is maximum?

How could be the energy split between the capacitor and battery for minimizing the life cost of the whole system

#5 Vehicle to grid (V2G) and vehicle to home (V2H): Why does grid integration of EV lag?

Vehicle to grid and vehicle to home do have a large potential of research projects for electrical engineering.

The grid-connected vehicle is a power system related project. An electric car has a battery that can power a house for 20 days. Its a kind of micropower generating station.

An electric car with a bi-directional power converter can act as a load as well as a generator. You can design and develop a bidirectional power converter for electric vehicle grid integration.

An electric vehicle that connected to the grid can be used for

  • Peak load shaving
  • Load leveling
  • Power system stability
  • Reducing losses during peak hours
  • Capacity reduction of generation at peak hours

Each of the above points becomes really well electrical engineering project.

Algorithm for power flow to and fro electric car and grid can be developed.

#6 How All Wheel Drive (AWD) electric car works: Advantages and challenges

AWD electric cars are a challenging field of research. Electric vehicles are manufactured with a single motor configuration in general. But the advantages of multi-motor multi-axle driving encouraged Tesla to manufacture their multi- axle electric car.

Simulation of a multi-axle all-wheel-drive electric vehicle, energy calculation , battery performance analysis , etc. would be electrical engineering projects in the field of AWD electric vehicle.

Dip Your Toes, Not a Cannonball

Don’t cannonball into the deep end from the get-go. Start with a project that’s like a tantalizing puzzle, not a Rubik’s Cube on expert mode. The key is to have fun, not a stress-induced meltdown.

Deep Dive into Project Wonderland

Once you’ve got a concept, plunge into the rabbit hole of research. The more you know about your project, the more confidently you can strut your stuff in the engineering arena.

Show and Tell (or Better Yet, Ask!)

Share your project inklings with fellow engineering wizards or mentors. Their wizardry advice can turn your project from “cool” to “mind-blowing.” Collaboration is the real magic.

Embrace the Oopsies

Mistakes are like plot twists in a blockbuster movie – essential for a riveting story. Don’t shy away from oops moments; embrace them. Each blunder is a step closer to genius.

So, there you go – the adventure to find the ultimate electrical engineering project should be as exciting as the project itself. Now, gear up, adventurer! The project realm awaits your creative spark.
