WIPRO TECHNICAL CAREER HIERARCHY

Have you secured a job in WIPRO ? Are you wondering about the position or your level in the chain of command? You are in the right place.

In this article, we will discuss about the technical hierarchy in WIPRO.

Note – This article only covers the technical positions and non-technical roles like managerial and marketing are not covered.

Okay, without further delay let’s start with a short intro on WIPRO.

About WIPRO

If you are an Indian you should have heard a lot about the WIPRO – It is an Indian Multinational company that provides information technology, consulting and business process services, and other digital marketing solutions.

The company started as Oil-based and then extended to different sectors. Now it has separated its non-IT-based business and formed a separate privately owned WIPRO Enterprise. It has 231,671 employees as per 2021 statistics.

You can also watch this video for better understanding:

Technical Hierarchy of WIPRO

As with other IT companies, WIPRO also follows the band system. Here is how the band hierarchy formed.

  • Band A1-A3  Executives
  • Band TRB      Trainees
  • Band B1-B3  Senior Executives or Assistant Manager
  • Band C1-C2   Project Manager or Senior Manager
  • Band D1-D2 Head of Functions or General Manager
  • Band E           Chief Executives, Presidents, Vice presidents

This band is for people with non engineering background (for people with MSc or other degrees apart from engineering). They will undergo a 4 years WASE or WISTA program to complete M.Tech from VIT or BITS. During these 4 years they will have weekend classes of M Tech and simultaneously will take part in projects on weekdays.

If you join the WIPRO after your B.E. or B.Tech graduation, then here is how your technical chain of command forms –

Technically this band is not included in the band system. It is called the Team Rainbow band. This is the first band you will land as a fresher with no experience. Once your training period ends, you will be promoted to the B1 band. It is just a temporary band.

This is the band, where the project engineers and associate project engineers are classified. Here, you will work on the development of solutions as per the guidance of the senior engineers or team leads.

As per an estimate, you can expect a salary between 3-5 lakhs per annum. Mostly you will be promoted from this position after 3 or 4 years.

After you are promoted to a Senior Engineer you will classify under the B2 band. You can expect a salary between 6- 8 lakhs per annum. You will be responsible to guide the software or project engineers when they meet with struggles.

You can expect a promotion after 5 years; however, this can change based on your performance.

This band includes the head positions like team lead, module lead, Assistant manager, etc… A team leader is someone who lead a team of project engineers to complete a particular task assigned to him/her by the project manager.

It is his/her responsibility to check the internal communication and relationships of the team. The resource should help the team when they meet difficulty and decides the role of each one.

From this band, the managerial positions start. Though the positions like project manager, project head, etc… Should have the technical knowledge to guide the personals in B band, they are more involved in the managerial activities.

They are the ones who communicate with a client or the director and plan the project and requirements for the project. You can expect an annual salary of 10 -15 lakhs.

It is the band for the senior project manager, senior managers, managers who are involved in any special works. They also play the same role by managing the group of experts, technicians to do the task-directed by the management. Based on their seniority and experience their salary can vary from 15 -25 lakhs per annum.

All the designations or career opportunities covered after this band are purely business or administration-based . The D1 band consists of the project head, directors, General managers , etc…

The average annual salary can vary between 20 -30 lakhs per year.

You can simply say this band is for the directors, or the chief officers who manage a separate branch, or department. The roles and responsibilities may vary based on the area they serve. The average annual salary is 30 – 40 lakhs per year.

The final and highest band consists of the chief executives like CEO, CFO, CTO, president, chairman, Board of Directors , etc…

If you have any more questions about the technical hierarchy in WIPRO please leave them in the comment section.

***The salary packages are only indicative and may vary as per the rise and low of the demand.***

Menu Group: File Maintenance

Earnings Benefits & Deductions (EBD's) as the name implies are categories of Pay, Deduction, and Benefits. When your payroll software is installed a full slate of EBD categories will have been delivered to you. Your task is to tailor them to fit your needs; adjusting switches, changing G/L codes etc. You may add as many new categories as you wish, but you should not delete any of the existing categories. Some of the EBD's are for system use and therefore must not be deleted. A list of the EBD's are available here for browsers with no frames. For browsers with frames click here.

EBD's are used throughout the payroll system for keeping track of earnings, benefits (taxable and/or non-taxable), deductions, employer shares etc. This allows the software to keep track of every financial transaction that occurs in a pay cycle. The EBD is assigned to the employee in Employee Maintenance or Fixed Deduction Maintenance . Not all EBD's need to be assigned to the employee. In general a deduction category that you create needs to be assigned to an employee so that the system knows how to perform the deduction. Statutory EBD's (for federal and provincial taxes in Canada, and Federal, FICA, Medicare in the U.S.) are assigned by the system and need not be assigned to the employee, unless you want to deduct more or less for that employee. For more information about this see the Employee and Fixes Deduction Maintenance.

The EBD Maintenance is divided into 4 frames as illustrated below. The fields within each frame are defined below the frame.

The US version of the EBD Maintenance has an extra tab folder for PERS processing in the State of California. This feature is dealt with in its own topic.

This frame contains descriptive information about the EBD. The type can be any of the following:

The short description is used for check stubs and those reports where space is at a premium. The long description is used everywhere else. There is space for 2 descriptions allowing for bi-lingual systems. The description used on the check stub will be defined by a language switch on the employee master.

The rate multiplier is used to define the value to be applied to the rate before calculating the pay associated with the EBD. For regular time the value is 1.00, for overtime at time and one half the value would be 1.5, for double time 2.0 etc. This feature allows you to define any multiplier for an EBD.

The next frame contains the G/L default coding for this EBD. Note that G/L codes are assigned in many places. The EBD is the last place that the system will look if it can't find a G/L code. Much care must be taken when setting up your G/L codes; a thorough understanding of the accounting side of the Payroll is necessary for a proper installation. We recommend that you submit your G/L code structure to us for verification prior to running payrolls. To better understand our coding methodology please see the G/L Coding Theory document.

The first two fields represent the debit and credit accounts for this EBD or payroll category. For expense or earnings categories the debit will typically be to some salary expense and the credit to the payroll bank or accrual. For liability or deduction categories the debit will be to the payroll bank or accrual and the credit will be to the deduction liability account. For an employer share category the debit will be to an expense and the credit will be to a liability. This concept is explained in the G/L Coding Theory document mentioned above and is summarised in the following table:

The Distribute switch controls whether this EBD is to be included in the total page of the Labour Distribution reports. We suggest that you set this switch on only for expense EBD's (Type E and ES ). This way the totals on your Labour Distribution will reflect only the expenses.

The Use EBD G/L and Use Employee G/L control which G/L code to use when recording salary (expense) information. Since we can override the expense G/L on the employee master we have the option to decide which G/L is to be used for salary information when using a particular EBD. For example if we have an EBD with a G/L code of 1224, we may set up the employee with a G/L code of 1234. Since an employee can accrue salary across multiple pay categories (EBD's) we must define when to use the G/L code from the EBD and when to use the employees G/L code. This feature allows for maximum flexibility when setting up the G/L.

G/L Costbacks

Costbacks are used for re-allocating employer shares across the G/L expense accounts for an employees pay for the period. Since the employee can work for different cost centres or departments in a period his pay will be allocated to these various departments via time posting. Notwithstanding the different pay categories used within a pay period, the employees time may be allocated to multiple G/L codes via the override feature in the time posting program. So, given that an employees pay will cover multiple departments or G/L's we provide a feature that allows us to allocate the employer shares back across the G/L codes in the employees pay. This calculation will be done at the time of the pay calculation and will be allocated using a weighted average. Once this is done the debits (credits in the case of a reversing cheque) will correspond to debits in the earnings categories. The credit will be taken from the Employer Share EBD. If you are not using Costbacks then the debit and credit will come from the Employer Share EBD. The costback may be a G/L code or G/L code mask. To mask a G/L code use x's where you don't want to replace the character and characters to effect a replacement. For example if the G/L code is 23877765 and the cost back is to G/L code 23877865 then the G/L mask will be xxxxx8xx. The result of this mask is:

23877765 xxxxx8xx 23877865

Masking is especially useful when the G/L code is generated from the employee file or input at time posting. The mask can then be used to generate a G/L code based on the input or employee G/L code. In this way you are not restricted to a single G/L code in the EBD costback field.

For an example of how costbacks re-allocate expenses and a process flow see this topic.

The next folder is used to control the behaviour of the EBD via its switches. Note that the switches for the EBD we have chosen are ghosted. This intentional lock will prevent modifying switch settings once the EBD has been used for an employee. You may only alter the switch settings when setting up a new EBD. Once it is used the switches are closed. If you must alter a tax switch then a new EBD must be created. This feature is designed to protect the integrity of your payroll data.

Switches control how an EBD is treated for the particular switch. .

This frame defines the formula to be applied when calculating the deduction or benefit.    Formulas are calculated when processing the gross to net.

In our example we are calculating a Long Term Disability deduction by multiplying the employees annual salary by an LTD factor, multiplying the result by .25, and finally dividing the whole by the employees frequency of pay.

Formulas use keywords (annsal, ltdfact, freq) that are defined in Keyword Maintenance and Function Keyword Maintenance. In general a keyword defines or is an alias for a database field. A function keyword is just another formula. In our example annsal is a function keyword that calculates an employees annual salary. Here is a list of standard keywords and a list of standard functions that we provide with the system. You may add your own and we encourage you to do so. Our formula technology is very versatile and powerful allowing you to tailor your benefits and deductions to any situation. For more in depth documentation on formulas see this document .

The form-calc radio button indicates to the system when to do the formula calculation; before or after calculating statutory deductions. If  you intend to use the result of the formula calculation in the statutory tax deductions (i.e. a deduction that must be deducted from the gross before calculating federal tax) then the form-calc switch should be set to before , otherwise set it to after . Another application of this switch would be; if you intend to use the federal tax amount in your formula then you would set the switch to after , this way the result of the federal tax calculation will be available to your formula.

In general user defined deductions are calculated in sequence, EBD 600 will be calculated before 602. Therefore, the result of the formula for EBD 600 can be used in a formula defined for EBD 602.

Clicking on the general switches folder will result in this screen.

This screen shows the application of the switch with relation to an EBD. Notice that in the 3 boxes only one description is showing and that the rest of the boxes are blank. This is because we have only three titles defined in the EBD switch definition.

In the example below we are telling the system that EBD 101 (for switch code LieuoBen) is to be included in the Lieu of Benefits calculation. We are also telling the system the default Override percentage and EBD number. If Lieu of Benefits does not apply to EBD 101 for your environment then the Subject to field would be clicked off..

Wipro Quantitative Aptitude Questions and Solutions with Explanation

1. Priya takes 8 hours to draw 60 pages on a computer while Parul takes 6 hours to draw 45 pages on a computer. If both are working together in how much time will they draw a lot of 120 pages?

A. 8hrs B. 7hrs C. 9hrs D. 11hrs

Answer – A. 8hrs Explanation: First, calculate no of pages they draw in one hour. For Priya, it is 60/8 and for parul, it is 45/6. Now total pages they draw in one hour is 60/8 + 45/6 = 15 So to print 120 time they will take = 15*X = 120. So X = 8hrs

2. A can finish a work in 15 days and B can finish the work in 25 days. Both of them start working together but B leaves the work 3 days prior to the completion. After how many days B quit the work.

A. 7.5 B. 8 C. 8.5 D. 9

Answer – A. 7.5 Explanation: Let ‘X’ days they take to complete the whole work. (1/15 + 1/25)*(X-3) + 3* (1/15), X = 10.5 days. So he quits after 7.5 days.

3. A contractor undertook a job and employed 40 men to do a piece of work in 80 days. But after 60 days he found that only 3/5 of the work is completed. To complete the work in time, how many more men he should employ.

A. 15 B. 20 C. 25 D. 40

Answer – D. 40 Explanation: (40*60)/3 = (x*20)/2 x=80 No of men required=80-40 =40

4. P, Q, and R can complete a piece of work in 9, 18 and 27 days respectively. After 1/3 work is completed P left the work and the remaining work is completed by Q and R together. Find the days required to complete the remaining work.

A. 36/7 B. 35/6 C. 36/5 D. 32/5

Answer – C. 36/5 Explanation: 1/3 work is completed so remaining work is 2/3. As P left the job so the remaining work will be completed by Q and R. Take X no. of days Q and R take to complete the work. (1/18 + 1/27)*X = 2/3. So, X = 36/5

5. A is 25% more efficient than B. C does half the work done by A & B together. If C alone does the work n 30 days, then A alone can do the work in

A. 32 days B. 27 days C. 22 days D. 25(1/2) days E. None of these

Answer – B. 27 days Explanation: A’s one day’s work:B’s one days work = 125:100 = 5:4 Let A’s & B’s one day’s work be 5x and 4x days Then C’s one day’s work = 9x/2 = > 9x/2 = 1/30 = > x = ((1/30)*(2/9)) = 1/135 A’s one day’s work = 5/135 = 1/27 Therefore, A alone can do the work in 27 days

6. P can finish a work in 27 days, Q in 9 days and C in 12 days. Q & R start the work but are forced to leave after 4 days. The remaining work was done by P in:

A. 6 days B. 9 days C. 10 days D. 12 days E. None of these

Answer – A. 6 days Explanation: (Q+R) one day’s work = 1/9+1/12 = 7/36 Q & R in 3 days = 4*7/36 = 7/9 Remaining work = 1-(7/9) = 2/9 1/27 work is done by A in 1 day. 2/9 work is done by A in 27*2/9 = 6 days

7. 4 men and 6 women can complete a work in 8 days, while 3 men and 7 women can complete it in 10 days. In how many days will 20 women complete it?

A. 10 days B. 15 days C. 20 days D. 25 days E. None of these

Answer – C. 20 days Explanation: 1 man’s 1 day’s work = x days 1 woman’s 1 day’s work = y Then, 4x+6y = 1/8 and 3x+7y = 1/10. Solving these two equations y = 1/400 1 woman’s 1 day’s work = 1/400 20 women = 20/400 = 1/20 = 20 days Therefore, 20 women can complete the work in 20 days.

8. A boat takes 120min less to travel 30km downstream than to travel the same distance upstream. If the speed of the boat in still water is 8kmph then the speed of the stream is

A. 2 kmph B. 8 kmph C. 3 kmph D. 4 kmph E. None of these

Answer – A. 2 kmph Explanation: The speed of the stream = x (30/8-x) – (30/8+x)= 120/60 = 2/1 30(8+x) – 30(8-x) = 2[64 – x2] 240+30x-240x+30x = 2[64 – x2] 60x = 128- 2×2 2×2+60x-128 = 0 x2+30x-64 = 0 (x+32)(x-2) = 0 X=2 kmph

The static variable refers to the common property of all the objects like the name of the company name of employees, college name of students, etc. The static variable gets memory only once in the class area at the time of class loading.

21. What is Inheritance?

Inheritance is a mechanism in which one object has all the properties and behavior of another object of another class. Inheritance is used for Code Reusability and Method Overriding. The idea behind the inheritance in Java is that you can create a new class that are built upon existing classes.

22. What is method overloading?

Method overloading is a polymorphism technique that allows us to create multiple methods with the same name but different parameters

23. Can you override the private methods?

It is not possible to override the private methods, the scope of private methods is limited to the class, so that you cannot access them outside of the class.

24. What is the use of DCL Language?

DCL allows users to control access and permission management to the database. It is a subset of the database, which decides which user at what point in time should access what part of the database, it includes two commands called GRANT and REVOKE

25. What is a Primary key?

A primary key is a field or the combination of fields that is uniquely used to identify each record in the table. The primary key is a special kind of unique key. If any column contains a primary key, it can not be null or empty. A table can have duplicate columns, but it cannot have more than one primary key.

26. What is an Inconsistent dependency?

An inconsistent dependency refers to the difficulty of getting relevant data because of the missing or broken path to the data.

27. What is Tree data structure?

Tree is a recursive data structure containing a set of one or more data nodes where one node is called the root of the tree while the remaining nodes are called the children of the root.

28. What does success mean to you?

From my point of view, I define success as fulfilling my role in my team and the company. I trust that my employer has placed me in a position where I can achieve the goals of the company and my team, and so I work toward completing my duties as effectively as possible.

29. What is Tree Traversal?

Tree traversal is the process of visiting all the nodes of a tree. All the nodes are connected via edges (links) where you always start from the head node.

There are three ways which we use to traverse a tree:

  • In-order Traversal
  • Pre-order Traversal
  • Post-order Traversal

30. How does depth-first traversal work?

Depth First Search algorithm traverses a graph in a depthward motion and uses a stack to get the next vertex and to start a search when a dead end occurs in any iteration.

31. What is the selection sort?

Selection sort is a sorting technique that divides the data set into two sub-lists known as assorted and unsorted. Then it selects the minimum element from the unsorted sub-list and places it into the sorted list. This iterates unless all the elements from the unsorted sub-list are consumed into a sorted sub-list.

32. What are the advantages of selection sort?

Advantages of selection sort are:

  • Selection sort is very simple and easy to implement
  • Selection sort can be used for small data sets
  • Selection sort is more efficient than bubble sort

Investigate the Industry and the Company

An interviewer can inquire about your opinion of his company's position in its industry, who its competitors are, what its competitive advantages are, and how it should proceed. As a result, avoid trying to explore a dozen different sectors thoroughly. Make it a point to focus your employment search on a select few fields.

Include Your “Selling Points” and Your Motivations for Desiring the Role

Think of three to five selling points for each interview, such as why you're the best candidate. Prepare an example of each selling point ("I am a good communicator.") For instance, I convinced an entire group..."). Also, be prepared to tell the interviewer why you want the position, including what intrigues you, what benefits it provides that you value, and what skills it requires. No matter how competent you are, if an interviewer doesn't think you're genuinely interested in the job, they won't offer you.

Anticipate the Interviewer's Worries and Concerns

There are usually more job applicants than opportunities available. As a consequence of this, interviewers look for other techniques to dismiss individuals from consideration. Put yourself in their place and consider why they could be hesitant to recruit you ("I don't have this," "I'm not that," and so on). Then say, "I realize you may not think I'm the best choice owing to their reservation." You should know why the interviewer is unconcerned.

Prepare for Typical Interview Questions

Every "how to interview" book has at least 100 "common interview questions." So, how do you get ready? Pick any list and consider which questions you're most likely to face, given your age and standing (about to graduate, looking for a summer internship). Then write down your responses, so you don't have to fumble for them during the interview.

Prepare Some Questions for the Interviewer

Bring some thoughtful questions for the interviewer that indicate your understanding of the organization and your genuine intent. When the interviewer asks if you have any questions, you should always be ready with one or two. If you answer, "No, not really," they might assume you aren't interested in the firm's position. ""How would the perfect applicant for this role appear if you could construct them from the beginning?"?"is an excellent all-purpose question.

  • Candidates who are interested may immediately complete the form.
  • Click submit when you've completed the form.
  • Keep the registration ID and password handy for future use.

3. What are your advantages and disadvantages?

This is one of the most often asked questions in HR interviews. In your response to this question, you should avoid sounding overconfident. However, admitting your weaknesses should not make you appear untrustworthy. Being truthful is beneficial. Being excessively honest during the interview, on the other hand, may work against you.

In an interview, some of the strengths that can be mentioned include:-

  • Flexible and determined.
  • Communication abilities
  • Ability to work under duress.
  • Leadership abilities

Some of the faults that people mention in interviews are listed below.

  • Too conscientious
  • A phobia of public speaking
  • Self-critical

While it's important to admit your mistakes, you should also describe how you've been striving to correct them. That's when they'll regard you as someone who is always trying to improve himself.

4. Why choose Wipro?

Wipro's infrastructure and team management are, without a doubt, outstanding. Wipro also has an outstanding work-life balance.

5. Why should we consider hiring you?

“To be honest, I have all of the skills and knowledge you need. I am certain that I am the most qualified candidate for this post. My past experience working on projects, in addition to my people skills, will both be beneficial to me in this role.”

6. Five years from now, where do you picture yourself?

“I aim to investigate and improve my project management skills over the next few years. In five years, I want to have acquired expertise overseeing projects for large clients. To achieve my aim, I will seek out ways to enhance my duties within my role.”

7. How does the Wipro Elite Test work?
