She has dated Paras Kalnawat . [5] India Today The two met on the sets of Meri Durga, which aired on Star Plus. However, the relationship ended in 2017. [6] The Times Of India Speaking about her ex-beau in an interview. Urfi made a face and said,

I wanted to break up with him one month after we got together. He was a kid. He was very possessive. He tried to woo me again by having 3 tattoos of my name, but who does that after one has parted ways? Surely, I wasn’t going back to him just for the tattoos. Even if he had tattoos of my name all over his body, I wouldn’t have.”

She expressed in an interview that his ex-boyfriend Paras, stood in the way of her career when she was approached for Star Plus’s extremely popular show Anupama. She said that both she and Paras were supposed to work in the show but Paras asked the team to not cast her. [7] India Today She said,

To be very honest, I don’t believe in Islam and I’ve never believed in it. I feel a lot of things in Islam are a bit regressive but so are in other religions as well. The world is changing at a very fast pace but religions are not and just because of that reason some people are lagging behind. This is the main reason behind the generation gap because people are not ready to change. I don’t like the fact that Islam allows four weddings. Triple talaq was banned and I think it was for the best.”

She further added,

In Islam also there are many things that women should wear burkha and they should stay behind a parda, I don’t understand these things. If a girl wants to do it willingly then it is fine. One should not force something on others.”

In another interview, she said that she would never marry a Muslim man. [9] India Today She said,

I am a Muslim girl. Most of the hate comments I receive are from Muslim people. They say that I am tarnishing the image of Islam. They hate me because Muslim men want their women to behave in a certain way. They want to control all the women in the community. I don’t believe in Islam because of this. The reason why they troll me is because I don’t behave the way they expect me to as per their religion.”

Urfi began her career in 2015 with the TV serial Tedi Medi Family. She went to Mumbai for a job interview which did not work out for her. However, given the interest she had in acting since her childhood, she decided to give auditions and in a matter of 3 months, she bagged her first role in the serial. Urfi posted a series of stories in February 2022, disclosing the fact that casting director Obed Afridi did not pay her dues. She further accused him of exploiting young girls in the name of getting them work and modelling assignments. She posted various screenshots of chats in which the accused is asking for semi-nude pictures from girls and asking them to do a video call for indecent acts. Various celebrities such as Priyank Sharma and Nikita Bhamidipati stood up in her support and posted stories to unmask the accused while expressing their similar encounters with him.

Chetan Bhagat’s ‘distraction’ comment

When Chetan Bhagat spoke at a literary event organized by a media company in November 2022, he mentioned the name of Urfi Javed while asserting that young people were spending a great deal of time on Instagram. Mr. Bhagat said,

Phone has been a great distraction for the youth, especially the boys, spending hours just watching Instagram Reels. Everyone knows who Urfi Javed is. What will you do with her photos? Is it coming in your exams or you will go for a job interview and tell the interviewer that you know all her outfits? On one side, there is a youth who is protecting our nation at Kargil and on another side, we have another youth who is seeing Uorfi Javed’s photos hiding in their blankets.”

The comment attracted controversy, and while reacting to his comment, Urfi Javed backlashed at the author through an Instagram story in which she wrote,

Men like him will always blame the women than accept their own shortcomings. Stop promoting rape culture you sickos out there. Blaming women’s clothes for the behaviour of men is so 80s Mr Chetan Bhagat.” [11] NDTV

In October 2023, a short-lived altercation started between Urfi Javed and businessman Raj Kundra when he made a joke about Urfi’s choices of fashion during a stand-up gig. Urfi, however, later responded to Raj’s comments and called him a “Porn King.” She shared a note on her Instagram story which read,

Dosro ko nanga kar k paise kamane wala ab meri kapdo pe comment karega 🙂 Sorry not sorry porn king (sic).”

Halloween Look Sparked Hindu Sentiment

Urfi Javed’s look as actor Rajpal Yadav ‘s Chota Pandit from the film Bhool Bhulaiyaa for the 2023 Halloween attracted negative responses from netizens. According to many users, Urfi’s look hurt the religious sentiments of Hindus. She, however, later addressed the matter through a post on Instagram and said that no colour, agarbatti (incense stick), or flower belongs to any religion. Violation of the Law of the Land

On 3 November 2023, a video featuring Urfi Javed gained widespread attention as it showed her being detained by police officers in Mumbai. In the video, Urfi inquired about the reasons for her arrest and the person who ordered the arrest, to which the officials expressed concerns about her attire—a bold backless red top and denim pants. They instructed her to address her questions at the police station and then escorted her to a police vehicle. As the video circulated on the internet, numerous internet users suspected that it might have been a prank planned by her. [14] The Tribune

On the same day, i.e., 3 November 2023, the Mumbai police booked Urfi Javed for sharing a fake video of her being arrested by the Mumbai police for publicity. The case was filed at the Oshiwara Police Station against Urfi and others involved under IPC Sections 171, 419, 500, and 34. The post shared by the Mumbai police on X mentioned that the fake inspector in the video was later arrested and the vehicle was seized too.
