One day I accompanied my mother to our local market. She had gone to buy vegetables and groceries.

The market place was very crowded. There was hardly any space for us to move about. The place was very noisy. It was lovely to see the piles of vegetables and fruits in the market. My mother bought plenty of vegetables and also some fruits. I helped her to carry her shopping bag.

She then went to a grocer’s shop. She bought some groceries. There were many other shops besides the grocer’s shop. There were sweet-meat shops, flower sellers’ shops, shops selling utensils, crockery, cutlery and textiles. Several hawkers went about shouting their wares. They had combs, ribbons, buttons and sundry articles for sale.

In that big crowd there must have been some pickpockets. A lady’s purse was snatched away and she shouted to raise an alarm. People were running towards her, but nobody knew who was the thief. The poor lady lost her money. She could not do any shopping that day.

Cattle moved about in the market and tried to eat up the vegetables. The vendors drove them away and shouted at them. A lot of bargaining goes on in every market. The seller never tells the buyer the correct price of a thing. So the seller and the buyer go on bargaining until they arrive at a price suitable to both.

| enjoyed my visit to the market, particularly as my mother bought me some sweets. I munched my sweets happily on my way to home. I made up my mind to visit the market again when I got a chance to do so.

Market Place :Market Place  Last Sunday, I accompanied my mother to the central market to buy things that she needed for Diwali. When we arrived at the market, the whole market was well decorated and illuminated. All the shopkeepers had decorated their shops beautifully to welcome the customers.

Coming to the market simply before a festive season wasn’t a nice expertise. everybody had to shop for one thing or the opposite. Therefore, the prices of most commodities were quite high. We made our way carefully through various sections buying lights, diyas, decorative items, rangoli, flowers, etc. We also bought lots of sweets and another foodstuff. It was a crowded market. There were many street hawkers on both sides of the street. They were shouting and approaching us with requests to buy their stuff. It was getting difficult for us to avoid them.

The shopping bags we were carrying got heavier and heavier. So my mother asked me to stand at a corner with the bags. She instructed me not to move or talk to strangers. The crowd got thicker and thicker. Standing at the corner, I was observing the market. The noise and heat were increasing. I observed many parents facing difficulties in pacifying their children who were getting impatient in the crowded market.

In the market , I noticed ladies who were hurrying up as it was getting late. Some people were bargaining while others were just looking at things and moving on. There were so many fancy things that were attracting me. I was waiting for my mother to come. Soon she came with some more bags in her hands. I told her about the things that I wanted to buy.

We then moved on to the other street. From there, we bought a few gifts to be given to our family and friends on Diwali . Then we came to the street that was full of food outlets. We had some snacks and fresh juice. This made us feel fresh and energetic. We then went to see other shops selling decorative items. We bought different types of lamps and lights, artificial flowers, and many other things.

As we were almost done with all the shopping, we started walking towards our car. On the way too, my mother kept buying small stuff which she liked. We had so many bags with us that we couldn’t hold them all together. We kept the bags in the car and started driving back home. It took us a long time to get out of the market as we got stuck in a traffic jam.

My mother and I were completely exhausted. On reaching home, we breathed a sigh of relief.

Hello, friends today I have come up with an essay on the vegetable market, in this essay I have shared my personal experience of my visit to a village vegetable market where I almost spent an hour in the vegetable market. So let us start with the essay on the market.

A visit to a vegetable market.

It was Saturday evening and mother decided to go for a vegetable shopping tomorrow from our local vegetable market. Buying vegetables from the market is no new thing for my mother unlike all of the mothers. For buying vegetables from the market she was preparing a rough list of items to be purchased. I was sitting and enjoying the television show, suddenly mom asked me to come with her tomorrow, to the market so that I could get knowledge about how to buy vegetables and I agreed to go with her as tomorrow was Sunday, my school had a holiday and I had nothing to do.

Early morning mom finished the work and took me with her to the vegetable market. I had not even entered the market and it was so noisy outside and the area was very crowded. I could clearly hear vegetable vendors shouting to sell vegetables. To enter the market a gate was built and no vehicles were allowed inside, people can only go on foot for shopping.

As we entered into the market mom told me that the market was divided into two sections for convenience of the people one was the vegetarian and other was the non-vegetarian section. The major part of the market was covered by the vegetarians as it included fruits and all the vegetables. And this section was the most crowded one. Mom told people from all over the village to come here every day, to buy food.

Mom took the list and started the search for the vegetables on the list. There were no banners of what vegetable a shopkeeper was selling, one has to go and check by themselves if the required vegetable is available or not. I knew about the vegetables used daily in our home, but now it was time to learn about green leafy vegetables as each look similar but wasn't the same. Mom told me about each one on our list.

The scene at the market was very interesting, vendors were shouting and telling about the vegetables they had and at the same time they were also convincing people that they had the best and fresh vegetables. Every shopkeeper was working very hard, vegetables were very well arranged with proper utilization of space. Vegetables were brought near markets from trucks in heavy sacks. Then these heavy sacks of vegetables were carried by vendors on their back to the market as there were no vehicles allowed into the marketplace.

I and my mom were getting fresh vegetables as on our list, our bags filled as our list ended. Mom showed me how to choose fresh vegetables and taught me how to bargain for the best price. I almost spend an hour in the market and it was a great experience there, I saw the hard work people have to do for their living.

Finally, we returned back to our home, this visit to the market had made me very tired I needed rest, but mom returned and started her work. And finally, for lunch and dinner, we had fresh and healthy vegetables on our plates.

A market is the open area or building where people meet to buy and sell goods. Different goods are available for purchase in a market. Numerous markets are available in a particular city. Different kinds of goods are sold in markets. Most of the markets are placed close to residential areas for the convenience of the customers.

I had heard a lot about the oldest and busiest market called ‘Chandni Chowk’ in Old Delhi now in Central North Delhi. I had never seen it. A few days before my brother’s marriage, when my mother was going for shopping, I insisted to accompany her. However, she tried her best to discourage me from coming but I requested hard. She even told me that there would be too much crowd and a child like me may be very tired. However, I still insisted.

We started on our journey. After about two hours on the road, we reached the famous Chandni Chowk. I had heard that it was the biggest and oldest market of Delhi. I saw hundreds of men rushing up and down everywhere. It appeared as if they were hurrying for an important mission. The sight of the crowd frightened me. I started questioning myself why I chose to come here. As we proceeded towards the shops, I was impressed. Different items were kept for sale and all the shops were too crowded.

Walking through the crowd, first we went to suiting and shirting shops where we had to make bulk purchases for my brother and gifting to friends and relatives. Each shop was crowded with customers. I was confused to see huge stocks of suiting and shirting piled up in each of these shops. In every shop, salespersons were busy with the customers. While shopping in one of the shops we got some relief from the pushing on the crowded lanes.

I was once again a bit fresh and now we were looking for a good jewellery shop. I was surprised to see so many jewellery shops. I had never imagined that expensive gold items could be available in so many shops. In these lanes, we spent nearly two hours glancing into one shop to another and making selections of different gold ornaments. Seeing the fast movement of the customers in and out of the shops, my mother said that these days the sale was more than usual because of the marriage season. Moreover, the festival season was also round the corner.

After having bought several bags of clothes, jewellery and other important things, we finally stepped out from the shop. Believe me, we were almost lost in those jammed lanes and by-lanes. Finally, we had to ask someone to guide us to the main road.

Such a visit was my first experience. I was impressed to see the shops full of items and different markets for different things. Although it was a tiring day, our shopping was wonderful. This was my most interesting visit to a market.

A Visit to the Market

A market place is a place spread out in a specific area, where a variety of goods of daily requirements are available for purchase by customers. I accompanied my mother to the central market to buy some groceries that she needed for the coming New Year. The marketplace is always crowded. The shops are mostly small in size.

When we arrived at the market we could not find a place to park the car. So we waited patiently for about ten minutes before someone vacated a parking space and we moved in. This happens mostly when the vendors do not allow the customers to choose the vegetables displayed and insist on buying which they carelessly put and weigh.

Coming to the market just before a festive season was not a pleasant experience. The whole town seemed to be there. Everyone had things to buy. So the prices of things shot up. Worst of all, we had to struggle to get these things. All the shopkeepers had decorated their shops beautifully to welcome the customers. Some shops sell fruits and dairy products, some sell groceries, some sell fish, some sell utensils, some sell gift items and stationery.

So we made our way carefully through the various sections buying vegetables, meat, fish, noodles, spices, and other foodstuffs. We had wanted to buy some prawns too but they were all sold out, despite their sky-high price. We made our way carefully through various sections buying lights, diyas, decorative items, rangoli, flowers, etc. The small traders of the village carried on their thriving business there. It was really a nice place to visit.

The bags got heavier and heavier. The crowd got thicker and thicker. The noise and heat were overwhelming. As we had nearly done all the shopping, I told my mother that I would wait for her in the car. I could not stand being among hundreds of aggressive shoppers anymore. This part of the market was not even visible from the main road but, it appeared to be an important business center having brisk sales. I lugged the bags wearily to the car and breathed a sigh of relief when I reached it. The air smelled sweet and cool. I was glad to be outside.

These markets have made our lives very easy as all day-to-day items are available at a comfortable distance. The shopkeepers are honest and sell quality products at reasonable prices.

A Visit to The Local Bazaar

I am sure not one of us has ever given a second thought to our local bazaar. We visit it often, complain about its claustrophobic set up and the non-availability of items (which a super market is sure to have) and finally get back with our essentials after dodging people, two wheelers, a couple of dogs and an odd cow!

I was totally averse to going to the bazaar as a teenager and always sat at home or at the most in the car. This trend carried on till I had a family to run. When in small cities, in remote locations, the local bazaar is all that we have and are totally dependent on it for our domestic needs. Before long, I was even looking forward to an outing to the Bazaar-the slush, dog. cow and crowds notwithstanding. If you detach yourself from what is happening in a Bazaar and observe it as an outsider you will find the scene hilarious, pathetic and yet incredible. The hustle-bustle of such a place is worth watching. The vendors at their efficient and stubborn best warding off hagglers and the customers, usually women not giving up a chance to make a bargain are a sight to see!

There is something so charming about the simplicity and unpretentiousness of a bazaar that despite being uncomfortable and dirty, it lures you.

I always find a big crowd there. There are several shops, all decorated beautifully. Big shops look more attractive. Businessmen come here from far and wide for purchasing or selling their products. The market is always crowded with carts, horses, donkeys and camels. They come loaded with the produce of the season such as cotton, grain, oil seeds, vegetables, etc.

Whenever I visit a market I find the hawkers shouting loudly to sell their goods. They try to attract the people by several names. Generally they sing songs in praise of their goods. They face hard competition because there are several hawkers selling the same article.

As the prices of the items are not fixed, the hawkers as well as the buyers do bargain. I watch these people who feel greatly satisfied after purchasing a thing at a minimum price from the hawkers.

The market is at peak in the evening. There is not a single shop where a big crowd is not seen. Everyone seems to be in hurry. There are jewellery shops which shine brightly in the light. Cloth shops and ready-made garment shops do great business during a festival.

The hotels and restaurants are also crowded with people. Some people are seen with plates of ‘chat’ others are seen enjoying cold drinks. There is flavour of all kinds in the surrounding area. It is very difficult to drive a car in a market place.

What to talk of a car or a motorcycle sometimes it becomes difficult even to walk. On the occasion of festivals like Diwali, Dussehra and Holi the situation becomes worse. It seems all the population of the country is on the road. There is great hustle and bustle. In between the cars and motorcycles, we see those carrying different articles for sale. They create great problems as sometimes they bring the traffic at a halt resulting in loud horns from the car-drivers.

The market is really a very noisy place. One can meet all sorts of people there. There is joy and laughter on all sides. Friends welcome one another and enjoy fast foods. Some people are seen discussing politics in the light of their business.

Our markets are quite different from the markets of the western advanced countries. Our markets present a rural glimpse and fill us with a feeling that we belong to India whose soul lies in villages. It is really very pleasant to move in a market, particularly in the evening.

I always welcome those moments when I visit the market for this purpose or that. It is a place where one can see the life in so many colours. One can get valuable experiences too by visiting market and buying different commodities.

Farmers' market season has officially arrived in New Jersey and, for the next few months, you'll be able to get all of those luxury goods and fresh produce items in the same place.

But, before you rush off to spend your hard-earned dollars in a field of tents, remember: not all markets are created equal. Some have long lines, unnecessary entry fees or produce that — ironically — isn't even locally grown.

So, to help you find a top-quality market near you, we talked to local farmers, foragers and culinary entrepreneurs to figure out which regional events reign supreme.

According to the people on the flora-laden front lines, then, these are the three best farmers' markets to visit in North Jersey.

Montclair Farmers' Market, Montclair

Over 30 years ago, Montclair was one of towns in New Jersey to launch a weekly farmers' market, and today the Montclair Farmers' Market is still going strong.

What started as a summer attraction to bring shoppers into the downtown business district, however, has now become an all-year thing, with local produce vendors gathering together every weekend to provide fresh harvest and artisan goods to residents of the area. On Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Walnut Street Train Station springs to life with the vibrant colors of pop-up booths and vigorous energy of health-conscious consumers; each excited to interact over a novel, quality product.

And, according to the vendors behind the event, the enthusiasm emitted on the grounds of roped-off block is tangible.

"Montclair is a standout farmers' market because it has been around thirty-something years," Dan Lipow, mushroom forager/owner of The Foraged Feast (a specialty produce vendor that supplies to the market) said. "It's an old, old event with lots of history and a lot of people who have participated for a very long time. There is a passion for food and excellence from all the different vendors who are there, and the people who come and shop really care about what they eat. They're there for a reason; they're chasing flavor and quality in all of their ingredients."

Lipow is an acclaimed mushroom forager who is known to local restaurateurs and diners alike for providing top-notch produce to Jersey's best restaurants. On the weekends, he sells his fungi at five markets across the state. Montclair, though, is one of his favorites.

"Montclair is a superstar market, because the town has great history and demographics," he said. "A lot of people in the area have come from worldly backgrounds with exposure to different cuisines, and that exposure drives their desire to get all of these wonderful foods."

Each weekend, some of those "wonderful foods" include hand-squeezed juices, bright red peppers, flavored marshmallows, fine dark chocolate and more. International foods — supported by the diverse background of the clientele that Lipow mentioned — also have a strong presence at the market. On any given day, shoppers can expect specialties ranging from vermicelli noodles to curried sweet potatoes. This season, a new cookie vendor has even entered the pack; offering flavors ranging from double chocolate chip to banana oat.

So, if it's diversity of product you're after in your spring harvest haul? Make sure to visit this Essex County market; because its size, mission and staff provides that quality like no other.

Ramsey Farmers' Market, Ramsey

Pickled vegetables, handmade dumplings and international smoked meats — all of those and more are sold from the tent-topped booths of the Ramsey Farmers' Market.

In fact, the vendor list at the bustling event is so long, it would probably put the local Whole Foods out of business, should management ever choose to keep it open seven days a week.

"We have French pastries, Italian pastries, French bread, Italian bread and even gluten free bread in Ramsey," Joey Katona, owner of Joey's Market (a vendor at the event), said. "And then you have a wide selection of produce, because there's a conventional farm, an organic farm and even a top farm from south New York. There's an incredible array of beautiful fruits and vegetables."

Katona is an artisan baker whose small business has been involved in the Ramseys Farmers' Market since the latter's inception in 2015. Each weekend, he supplies the event with fresh breads, pastries, strombolis and more, and notes that the positive environment in which he sells is unparalleled by any other market.

That lively, uplifting atmosphere — he says — can be largely attributed to Nancy Boone, the event's dedicated director.

"The reason I think the market is so great is because the lady who runs it, Nancy, is an incredible person, and so the vendors she attracts are people who are similar to her; community-oriented, great people who want to interact with the customers" Katona said. "Nancy always considers the human side of every interaction rather than the business side, and she just gives a positive energy to the whole atmosphere."

Pair that great management with the market's extensive selection of fresh food offerings — and central location in the town's historic train station — and it's no surprise the event has quickly become a Bergen County household name.

Currently, the locally-acclaimed market boasts over 70 vendors, hosts hundreds of guests per day and runs all year; even in the snow.

When/where: Sundays 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. (May through November, with shortened 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. hours for the remainder of the year) at 2 W. Main St. in Ramsey.

Sparta Farmers' Market, Sparta

When it comes to traditional farmers' markets — with rows of fragrant flowers, glistening tomatoes and bakers with demeanors as warm as their breads — none in the area compares to Sparta's weekly shindig.

Aptly named the Sparta Farmer's Market , the Saturday morning event is the biggest of its kind in Northwestern New Jersey.

"The Sparta Farmers' Market has up to 40 vendors a week," Ben Del Coro, an executive employee of Fossil Farms , said. "It's got everything you could ever want or need in a farmers' market covered."

And perhaps, we assume, that's why he chose to take on the voluntary role of its director.

The Sparta Farmers' Market is held in Sussex County, and, as such, Del Coro and team strive to source all of its goods from that area.

"We're really, really specific about what vendors we bring into our market," the farm-focused businessman-turned-market-manager said. "We focus on Sussex County first, because I want the products to be baked, raised or grown as close to the market as possible."

From cheesemongers to gourmet dog biscuit-makers, each producer reinforces that local vision, ensuring that the quality of goods received by shoppers is exceptional.

The market is also known for equally exceptional customer service, as Del Coro expects his vendors to be personally present at their booths on market day — and just about all of them are.

"Most of my vendors really connect well with the community," Del Coro said. "The farmers, the business owners, the cheese-makers; 90% of them are there at the market each week."

And that community feel — plus microgreens, pasture-raised duck and cool, creamy milk — is what keeps locals flocking to the event each beautiful summer week.

Ahearn's Seafood Market, Waretown

For the last 60 years, this hometown seafood market has served locally caught shrimp, clams and scallops straight from the boat. It also serves fresh filets of cod, local flounder, mahi-mahi, farm-raised and organic salmon, swordfish and more.

Blacky's Clam Stand, Stafford

This spot sells one thing and one thing only: clams. And according to locals, they're the best.

This tiny shack, perched along Bay Avenue near miles of bay salt flats, has been the go-to for LBI-area visitors for decades. Don't let its weathered appearance fool you: Blacky's sells some of the freshest clams for an unbeatable price ($45 for 100, and around $5 for a dozen; prices may change).

The stand opens at 10 a.m., but get there sooner rather than later because clams are first come, first served. Blacky's is usually closed Mondays and Tuesdays.

Cassidy's Fish Market, Barnegat Light

Viking Village Inc. is the commercial fishing operation that supplies the fish market, bringing in scallops, flounder, bass, tuna and more depending on season and conditions. Product quantities are updated on the market's website regularly.

Cottrell's Seafood & Take Out, Waretown

"From our boat to your table."

That's the motto at Cottrell's, and it's earned the market a cult following.

Known for cuts of fish that will melt in your mouth, like cod and salmon, plus chowders and fried seafood baskets of crab cakes and scallops, there's something for every seafood lover here.

Crabby Rick's Shore Shack, Normandy Beach

This classic Jersey Shore fried seafood shack is a "blink and you'll miss it" kind of place with beachy ambience and outdoor seating.

"The whole vibe at Crabby Rick’s feels more like you are hanging out at a friend’s beach house who happens to be cooking up some delicious seafood," reads the restaurant's website .

Try a blackened fish sandwich with spices and tartar sauce, fried clams with tartar sauce, popcorn rock shrimp with surf sauce, or fish or shrimp tacos with tomatoes, cilantro and slaw.

Jody and Jodee's Fishery, Neptune

This family-owned and operated fishery was established in 1976 and sells a variety of products based around locally sourced seafood.

"Most of our fish is local, caught either off of our boat, the XTC out of Belmar, or from other local fishermen in South Jersey," owner Jodee DiStasio said in a previous interview. "The tuna, mahi-mahi, bluefish and sea bass come off of our boat, but the shellfish often comes from local fishermen in the Barnegat area."

Fresh fish can be brought home, but the fishery also has a variety of steamed and fried seafood meals available for takeout, including soft shell crab and Cajun catfish sandwiches, steamed Old Bay shrimp, and a fisherman's combo with breaded and fried flounder, shrimp, scallops and whole belly clams with french fries, housemade coleslaw, lemon and sauces.

Other highlights include custom-made party platters and in-house smoked salmon.

Keyport Fishery, Keyport

According to its website, this fishery originally known as "Wilson's" opened in 1936. Some still know it as Wilson's, and while there have been many owners, one thing hasn't changed: the fresh seafood.

Keyport Fishery is another market and restaurant all-in-one, serving fresh catches like grouper, American red snapper, flounder and swordfish daily. Chowders and fried seafood platters are available, too.

Skippers Seafood and Sea Dogs Grille, Barnegat

This seafood shack is perched along Route 72, among the pines of New Jersey's Pine Barrens.

On one side is Skippers Seafood market, known for fresh scallops, clams, crabs, flounder, seafood dips and other items to take home, like their melt-in-your-mouth Key lime pie.

On the other side of the parking lot is Sea Dogs Grille, a small restaurant serving lobster rolls, a panko-breaded citrus grouper sandwich with lemon, lime and citrus mayo; raw bar options like clams and oysters; and baskets of jumbo butterflied coconut shrimp with fries, coleslaw, corn on the cob and corn bread.

Demand-side and Supply-side Constraints in the Market for Financial Advice

In this review, we argue that access to financial advice and the quality of this advice is shaped by a broad array of demand-side and supply-side constraints. While the literature has predominantly focused on conflicts of interest between advisors and clients, we highlight that the transaction costs of providing advice, mistaken beliefs on the demand side or supply side, and other factors can have equally detrimental effects on the quality and access to advice. Moreover, these factors affect how researchers should assess the impact of financial advice across heterogeneous groups of households. While households with low levels of financial literacy are more likely to benefit from advice—potentially including conflicted advice—they are also the least likely to detect misconduct, and perhaps the least likely to understand the value of paying for advice. Regulators should consider not only how regulation changes the quality of advice, but also the fraction of households who are able to receive it and how different groups would have invested without any advice. Financial innovation has the potential to provide customized advice at low cost, but also to embed conflicts of interest in algorithms that are opaque to households and regulators.
