essay on school days are the happiest days of life

Introduction

The first day at school is exciting and, at the same time, a struggle for young children. All those days where they woke up, played and slept as they wished were now going to end. Undoubtedly, they are enthusiastic about going to school with a new bag and books, but they also have to make every effort to put away the feelings of missing home. We will learn more about school days in this school days essay.

If children cry on the first day of school because they miss their parents, the memories of school days are what make them nostalgic on their last day. Such is the impact created by school days on children that they find it hard to move on to the next phase of life. The short essay on school days will describe what makes school life the best, and children can write an essay based on this guide.

Importance of School Life

Once children start going to school, it is the place where they will spend most of their time for over 14 years. So, it is natural that they feel nostalgic about school whenever any mention of it is made. Moreover, a strong bond is formed between other students, and this friendship is sure to last for many years.

School days are also the best days to gather knowledge as well as learn basic etiquettes and skills, which make children better people. With lessons, assignments, sports day , games, and cultural events, school days are filled with many activities that help in the development of their character, mind and body. Along with teaching right from wrong, school days also instil good habits in children. Let us see an experience about school life in this school days essay.

My School Days

I remember my school days being jovial and fun while learning many lessons about life. Even though I was able to acquire knowledge from textbooks, it was the lessons of friendship, teamwork, hard work, discipline, and sharing that I learnt outside the classroom that remained close to my heart. My school days usually began by running off to the classroom before the first bell, and I would fight with my friends to sit in the first row of the class.

I was an average student during my school days, and I had great fun studying as well as participating in many events and activities at the school. While I enjoyed sports day, annual day and literary fests, I also liked studying in labs as I was able to perform many experiments and projects. The short essay on school days will not be complete without talking about the role of friends in school life.

Each year, I got new friends and teachers with whom I shared my dreams, doubts and worries. There were days when we studied together in the library and days when we asked the teachers to let us go out to play. Along with playing silly pranks on others, we used to go to the school canteen and get hot puffs and sweets as birthday treats. We also shared our lunch boxes and tiffins and complimented the food made by our mothers. My school days were filled with such happy memories, and I am grateful to my school for shaping me as a good student.

School Days are the Happiest Days of your Life

Authors Avatar

When I was given this assignment, my initial reaction was this is easy! Half an shours writing- homework complete. Fifteen minutes later I find that it is incredibly difficult to sort out the jumble of thoughts, memories and feelings, that are fighting each other in the race to be the first to blot this pristine white page.(melodramatic, but true)

I suppose I could take the easy way out, and write that looking back; my school days were happy, carefree days. The sun always shone. I had no real worries. Friends were plentiful and life was all about, fun, fun, fun. Well I could, but that would entail not being completely honest. I mean, certainly a not immodest percentage of school, (compared with life today) was carefree but by no means all of it. My over-riding recollections of school are the memories of never quite fitting in; the never quite making it into the 'in crowd.' Not that I wanted in, you understand. I wanted to be different (not another lemming) just not so different that I stood out.

I blame my mother for that mentality for she drummed it into us all. If I spoke the usual refrain," but all my friends are … her response was always." if your friend stuck her hand in the fire- would you do it too?" Well the answer to that was no, and when you said so, mum would smile and say," of course not love, you have your own mind. You're not a lemming; don't be afraid to be different." I was left feeling proud of myself for being 'different', but oh God, I still wanted that denim jacket, or those Adidas trainers, or to stay out for that extra half an hour; or the myriad of other 'things' that would have enabled me to fit in. Money was always tight when I was at school. With four kids to buy for - I feel mum used the lemming story no us, just so she wouldn't have to say "I can't afford it." At school, every deficit, both real and imagined between you and the 'in crowd' made you insecure. It could be your haircut, shoes or even just the number of pleats our gym skirt had. (Mine had none.) Plain skirts were cheaper.

Positive Body Image, or lack of it in my case, was a major problem. I went through school convinced that I was fat and ugly. Fat!? I was only 81/2 stones! I would kill to be that weight again - and as for my other two attributes? My boobs started growing in p.6. By p.7, I was into my first bra- and didn't the bra-less school bully love me! By third year, my chest rivaled Sam Foxes! My bust was a shapely 34DD; couple that to a 24" waist and 35"hips, I must have had a figure to die for. So what was the problem? Well, unfortunately the girls I wanted to be like were more akin to Kate Moss than Sammy Fox; you know the type, tall and thin with no discernable bust or hips. I felt like a freak; I walked around school for the whole five years with my shoulders rounded, sucking in my non-existent stomach!

I remember at the start of second year, being bought knee-high white socks. They were hand-picked by myself, and had a very elegant criss- cross diamond pattern down one side. On the second week of wearing them, the elastic on one sock broke, and the stupid thing would gradually slide down my leg as I walked. I remember being absolutely mortified. Everyone else's socks stayed up, and I was constantly hauling at mine. So I badgered my mum to buy new ones. She did- three weeks of mortification later; within days of proudly wearing my new 'stay ups', an 'in girl' decided it would be cool to wear your socks bunched around your ankles - and did my mum allow me to bunch up my new socks? Like hell she did. I was the only girl in my class to wear them knee-high for weeks!

I think older generations must look back on their school days through the milky glaze of cataracts, when they say that school days were the happiest. I would buy into that sentimentality about primary school, but I'm still young enough to remember the insecurities, angst and loneliness of secondary school, fuelled as they were by the raging hormones of puberty, and the overwhelming need to conform. Adolescence and school aren't any less stressful of difficult than adulthood. Your perception of life, and how you relate to it, grows as you so -as does your ability to prioritise difficulties and problems. A teenager's world is smaller than an adult; and they play the major role within it. Adults see the bigger picture, and realise that they are, unreality a very small cog.

So, would I go back to my school days? If I could return with the knowledge and life experiences I have now, simply to enjoy the freedom of school; the answer would be yes! - Send me now. But to return as I was then, with all the insecurities, self-doubt and trauma that puberty, adolescence and school invariably bring? Not in a million years!

Essay About School Days as the Best Time: Is It Always True?

There is an idea that school is the best time of life, so saying the golden years. How many years? 12 or less? Indeed, children’s carelessness, especially in their pre-teens, is often associated with happiness, which is resulted by a great number of leisure activities and discoveries. On the other hand, are school years always the happiest ones? A glance at a youth forum might be enough to get the idea that not everything is perfect at schools, and that most students become much happier after finishing it – “Oh, finally, I finished my school!”

Examples of different school experiences are provided in this article to put the saying about the “best time of life” in doubt or vice versa. It means that if you are assigned with the essay about school days, you’ll have some strong evidence to come up with in your own essay. Feel free to use sufficient ideas in essays!

Putting a Child to School Is the Biggest Parents’ Priority

freshman

The basic needs of safety and security; The developmental needs in the society and academic career.

The most important goal of each parent is to set a kid up for success and happiness in their own lives immediately starting with school days. The role of parents in the educational experience of a child shouldn’t go unmentioned. There are 3 roles of parents in their child’s education:

  • Provide support for their child’s education,
  • Make home a good place for learning,
  • Help a child with doing homework.

So the school experience can depend on the parents’ participation in choosing the most suitable school for their children and their engagement in the learning process. For more information concerning this point, you can consult:

5 Beauties of the Golden Time at School

The belief about the school years are the best ones is true and emphasized by most comments. See them below:

  • “At school, you don’t have the reason to be unhappy. From the perspective of a grown person, life seems much simpler during the school years. There are lots of free time and no major responsibilities, such as a job or family, or providing for oneself.”
  • “The school is the wealth of knowledge and information you can reach every day. Teachers give you access to valuable subjects and ideas that you couldn’t find in homes or with friends.”
  • “Schools give you the opportunity to acquire the basic skills. If you think they concern only writing, reading and counting, you are wrong. Look at how many other skills you develop at school – interpersonal communication, time management, and other study skills that are essential for the future of a successful person. It would not be possible to get while staying at home.”
  • “Spending time at school allows you to meet new friends with whom you may become close for the rest of life. Mostly, the school friendship lasts forever – you grow up together, even your children can grow up together. It is highly-valued to meet up with friends since school days.”
  • “You don’t only study at school, you entertain there as you wish. All the doors of extracurricular activities are open to you. The last bell rings for the day, and you can run to a theater or athletics. You can do what you are interested in most while being at school.”

3 Possible Difficulties at School

books

  • A school child can’t be entirely free to make own choice. Children depend on adults – their parents or caregivers, teachers – who often make decisions for them. There are even those who say to their children, “Once you’ll become an adult, at age 18, you’ll be able to make your own decisions. Until then, listen to me!” How unfair it sounds! What about the demand for freedom in our society to which an individual could make a contribution? An influential philosopher, psychologist, and educational thinker, John Dewey, reasoned about this issue in his book, ‘ Democracy and Education: An Introduction to the Philosophy of Education ’. Some report the feeling of instability in life, which derives from dependence and inability to fully take care of oneself financially, for example. Besides, kids do not usually choose their school environment: they have to adapt to it over the course of studies. Unlike them, young adults are free to choose their college and their first job where they face less direct pressure to fit in.
  • A school child is surrounded by individuals. There is a common problem of fitting in that many school students face. When at school, a child has to become a part of the social environment members of which may have various types of characters, behaviors. Their views and habits may vary as well. So a child might become an object for bullying. At StopBullying.gov , you’ll find some impressive facts about this issue. For example, 1 in 3/4 U.S. students is bullied at school. This usually comes with a lot of stress for a young person, especially when their feelings are not taken seriously by adults. That’s why it is important to spot when a child is being bullied .
  • A school child faces a lot of competition in school. They need to prove they are not worse than their peers – from the performance in class to participating in extra-class activities, or even to everyday look. In high school, there is confusion because of growing up. It is a period when it is important to accept oneself and one’s own new changing body and mind. Acceptance from others is important as well, and many young people seek it desperately.

Saying that “school is the best time of life” to a child is like saying that it cannot and will not be better after school. While being uninspiring and pessimistic, it is untrue, especially when there are problems that big an adjustment, acceptance, or the threat of bullying. But each person may experience ups and downs either at school or at work. It is a part of life that it is important to overcome worthily. There is no need to focus on school years exceptionally as special because every period in life has the potential to be the best one. Just unlock this potential!

Young girl playing hopscotch in school playground

Were your school days the happiest of your life – or a nightmare?

Michele hanson : i felt a bit of an outcast and left in a fury at 16.

Michele Hanson

My school days were not a bundle of laughs. I went to a rather strict girls’ grammar school in the 50s, where the often ferocious teachers wore tweeds, brogues, and stiff, grim hairstyles with the occasional grey sausage curls. Our uniform was deeply unattractive, and I was tall, stooping, asthmatic and rubbish at lacrosse. And I chewed my handkerchiefs to ribbons in class. Very odd. I did have some best friends, but not in the main, popular gang, who knew all about sex. I did not. So I felt a bit of an outcast, all the more so because Jews were not allowed into assembly. We stayed in a classroom and filed in at the end for notices. A line of sore thumbs.

But there were silver linings. We Jews got an extra half hour to finish our homework during assemblies, I never had to sing There Was a Green Hill Far Away , which I could hear through the wall, and which gave me the creeps. Better still, the asthma got me out of stinking lacrosse, and although the illustrations in our library copy of Michelangelo had fig-leaves over the rude bits, we found the Miller’s Tale , which perked us all up. And not all of the teachers were Gorgons. Some were excellent, particularly the art, history and English teachers, and I loved those subjects. That’s what I wanted to do when I grew up. But instead I was forced to do science and geography. Horrid. I hated every minute of it, only just scraped through my public exams, got half an hour’s Latin detention for jumping down three steps into the garden, and rebelled. I left in a fury at 16 and went to art school, where I did, at last, spend some of the best days of my life.

Tim Lott : I was a big fish in a small pool – to be a schoolboy is wondrous

Tim Lott

I find it impossible to say what the “happiest days of my life” were, since I know that perspective on the past is impossibly distorted by the present, and that the span of time is so great and the complications so numerous, it makes even making a guess an activity verging on the spurious.

School days for me were like the rest of my life since, a mixture of the pleasurable and the torturous. The pleasurable parts are easy enough to identify – the commonality of being part of a group (my secondary school had only 400 pupils, my primary even fewer), the simple fun of being young, the imminence (if in fantasy only) of sex, advertised by the precocious girls of the fifth and sixth forms.

I don’t know how that can be set off against the downside – first and foremost the unutterable boredom of my suburban, rather working-class grammar school.

The teachers were largely of that post-war generation that still held to military values. They were dried out, bitter and boring for the most part, and sometimes violent.

Sitting through a physics, chemistry or mathematics lesson was a numbing experience for me, and I often fell asleep (my problem compounded by the fact that I had to get up every morning at 6am to do a paper round). I was also depressed not only by the cruelty of the teachers towards the children, but the children towards the teachers – I remember the relentlessness of the mob towards any inadequate “call me Dave” student teacher. Anyone who was overweight, inept or disabled, teacher or student, would be mercilessly teased. No wonder Lord of the Flies was my favourite book at that time.

However, once I had found my legs, at the age of 14, I became a big fish in a small pool – cocky, cleverer than most and, most important of all, popular. To be a schoolboy is wondrous in this way chiefly – to know where you fit, to be part of a community, and feel the future in front of you. The happiest days of my life? No.

But probably the most secure, the most comfortable and the most easily mythologised.

Lola Okolosie : You couldn’t pay me to relive my school days. I’m happiest now

Lola Okolosie

School days were most definitely not my happiest. Even leaving aside my troubled family life, I pity my teenage self. You couldn’t pay me to relive it. The incessant worry about where I did or did not fit in, the feelings of isolation and the pathological belief that only those who had had sex were actually living are not things I miss particularly.

I am, as schmaltzy as it may sound, happiest now: in my mid-30s, greying, with my partner of more than a decade and two kids, saddled with mortgage and student debts. All of this is terribly unglamorous, I know. But my life is my own. I care a lot less about what people I don’t even like think of me; it is a wonderful freedom. Most of the young people I come across aren’t there yet, expending almost limitless energy on where they are placed in the social pecking order. And it takes being an adult to recognise what a waste of time all that really is.

Yet all this isn’t to say I no longer experience anxiety – retaining a sense of self while being a parent isn’t exactly a walk in the park. Now, though, I can place my feelings in context, recognise that I can’t be in control of it all and laugh at life’s absurdity. Only experience, good and bad and everything in between, gives you such perspective. I’ve earned my grey hairs thank you very much; I won’t be wishing them away. Well, not just yet at least.

Rhiannon Lucy Cosslett: I’m not sure I believe in pure, unadulterated happiness. There are always anxieties

Rhiannon Lucy Cosslett

I’m always suspicious of those who say their happiest time was at school – you peaked at 15, really? It implies a fundamentally disappointing adulthood, which is sad.

But then perhaps I’m biased because I had a pretty horrible time of it at school, at least at first. In year 7 I was bullied constantly – mainly for having an autistic brother. They used to imitate the noises he made on the bus home from school. I was singularly miserable, and used to hide in the toilets.

I was moved to a new school but still struggled to fit in. Being a young carer, with all the stresses that entails, meant I felt somewhat removed from my classmates, who were mucking about in ways that I would never have dreamed of – my mum had enough to deal with and so I kept my head down.

Saying that, when I started my GCSEs things started to get better. I met a group of friends – boys and girls – with whom I got on. Most importantly (for how else do you define yourself as a teenager, if not through musical taste?) they shared my love of The Strokes . The last three summers of my school days were spent going to festivals, swimming in the sea, and getting stoned in barns and caravans belonging to other people’s parents. It gave me a taste of freedom that prompted my decision to move to Paris, alone, as soon as I turned 18. I was a waitress, free of all responsibility. I lived alone and loved it. It was a magical year.

I suppose if I had to, I’d choose that as the time when I was happiest, but the exercise feels arbitrary. There were always anxieties, as there are for most people. I’m not sure I believe in pure, unadulterated happiness. The closest I’d come to describe it is a period of living in the moment, when you’re not consumed by the desire for more, where you smile more than you frown. Right now, I wish I earned more and am annoyed I’ll probably never afford to buy a house. Which is why I’d choose my late teens, when the days were long and all that mattered was the here and now.

Stephen Moss : What mainly comes back are the moments of fear

Stephen Moss

When was I happiest? Always and never, perhaps. And I’m not just talking about school days here – I mean in life. I can remember half a dozen euphoric, transcendent moments – best not disclose what they were – which you replay over and over in your mind. Moments of sheer bliss when everything, briefly, seemed to make sense. Most of the rest is dull uniformity: getting by, getting on, doing your best, surviving.

I don’t remember much transcendence at school. I was very reluctant to go to primary school – I had to be wrenched away from my ultra-protective mother. You didn’t go to school till the age of five in those days; I’d never been to nursery, had no brothers and sisters (a brother arrived later), and probably found being with other children alarming. I was slow to learn, and couldn’t read till I was six or seven.

The thought of going to secondary school – a comprehensive with 2,000 pupils at the top of a steep bank – was terrifying. Being thrown down the bank was a rite of passage, and when it happened to me I was in pain for a fortnight afterwards. But slowly you learned the rules – mainly the boys to whom you had to give a wide berth – and it became bearable.

I haven’t thought about my school days for years, and as I do so now what mainly comes back are moments of fear: the time a thief planted someone’s stolen watch in my pocket to try to frame me; the occasion I locked my swimming kit in the science lab and couldn’t get to the pool on time; the time my class went to the theatre and someone put chewing gum in the hair of a girl sitting in the row in front of mine. I must have been like that boy in Kes who gets caned by the headmaster when he hasn’t done anything. Random injustice stalked and terrified me. I hated not being in control.

Around the age of 12 I got promoted to the so-called “grammar stream” (it was a comp that set children according to perceived ability), fell in with a boy who was very academic and became highly competitive. After that I just worked. I would get home at 5pm and spend every night doing homework – on the dining-room table, half-watching the TV. Hopelessly inefficient, but it did the job. I’ve no idea what drove me to work so hard, but something did. Children are absurdly conservative.

The sixth form I did enjoy. We had our own room, were doing A-level subjects we had chosen and could cope with. Getting rid of chemistry – to which I had devoted about 90% of my O-level revision in a bid to get a decent grade – was a source of joy. I was made head boy in my final year, but blotted my copybook by being discovered playing cards in the common room when I should have been at assembly. This was no random injustice – I was guilty as charged. The headmaster, whose former job was in the Sudanese civil service and who ran the school as a branch of empire, was not best pleased, though he did write on my final report that I would be chairman of ICI one day. I still have time of course.

Anne Perkins : I remember it as a kind of servitude, a prison sentence

Anne Perkins

Many years after I had left school, I drove past the bus shelter where I used to hang around for the school bus. Quite unexpectedly, I was gripped by an awful sense of misery and my adult self finally grasped that for five whole years between being a scrawny 11-year-old in crooked NHS glasses to being a cocky 16-year-old with my tunic hoicked up to just below my knickers, I was bored.

It was largely my fault. If you put more effort into not doing homework than doing it, persistently read under the desk, and giggle and whisper with anyone you can distract, no teacher is going to trouble over you much. Mostly, they didn’t, and I didn’t. I remember the sum of my Latin O-level revision was conducted on the 25-minute bus journey to school the morning of the exam.

I suppose the happy times myth is based on the idea that these are the days of innocence before jobs, mortgages, babies etc. But I remember it more as a kind of servitude, more of a prison sentence than an adventure in intellectual development. It wasn’t that kind of school anyway, more preoccupied with pass marks than inspiration.

I often wonder what could have made things different. I think what might have been most influential was to have come from a family that valued education instead of having to find out some time later how wonderful it actually is. School might have been happier and it certainly would have been more productive. But I still can’t imagine it being better than being grown up.

Below we have provided Happiest Day of My Life Essay in English, suitable for class 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 & 10.

“ Happiness does not depend on what we have; it depends on how we feel towards what we have. We can be happy with little and miserable with much.” ~ William D. Hoard

Fighting with our friends is a now and then activity. But what is even more common? Having arguments with our parents. I am going to tell you about an episode that happened in my life when I was in the 10th standard. I used to go to my tuition classes from 5 pm to 7 pm every Monday to Friday. One evening, when I was walking down the stairs of the tuition centre, my friends and I decided to stop and eat ice cream. I knew my taste buds were about to be delighted!

After finishing my ice cream, I bid farewell to my friends, took an auto and reached home. I could see my mother standing at the gate and my father about to start the car. My mother’s eyes were watery. But I could sense that she breathed a sigh of relief the moment she saw me. As soon as I entered the drawing-room, my mother and my father walked in behind me. They were now looking at me angrily.

They started shouting at me. They asked me why I was late and why I hadn’t informed them. My parents said that they were extremely worried about me. My mother told me that she couldn’t stop thinking that something terrible had happened to me. My father reminded me that in a city like Delhi, where the crime rate is so high, I ought to be more careful and responsible. I felt irritated and agitated by their sudden outburst.

I still remember the exact words that I uttered out of my mouth, “When did eating an ice cream become such a big crime? Why do you have to overreact all the time? I wish I didn’t have parents; maybe then I would’ve been entitled to some freedom. It is impossible to live with you.” My parents turned silent, and I went stomping into my room.

The next day my father told us to get into the car, but he didn’t disclose where we were going. Everyone remained silent for the whole trip. In about 25 minutes, the car came to a halt in front of an orphanage. I did not know what my father had in mind. We all made our way into the orphanage, and my father told me to interact with the kids there.

All the kids at the orphanage were very welcoming and warm. None of them had any parents. A lot of them told me their stories. Reshma, a girl of 10, said to me that her mother died while giving birth to her and she never saw her dad. She was brought here when she was just a baby.

An orphanage is not the most amusing place. The rooms there were small and cramped. They did not have an air conditioner or even a cooler. None of them had been to a restaurant or an amusement park. They rarely got a cake or chocolates to eat. None of the toys that they had was in good condition. Sneha, another girl at the orphanage, told me that there were many nights when she felt lonely.

She told me, “Not one day has passed when I haven’t missed my parents. I would give anything in the world to be with them for just one day.” I realized that the things we take for granted, they dream of them. I walked out towards the main gate and saw my parents talking to the caretaker. I had never been happier to see them. That day I learnt the value of having parents, the importance of having a family.

I ran towards my mother, hugged her and burst into tears. That day was the best and indeed the happiest of my life. I realized that my parents would always be there for me. They would stand beside me through thick and thin. Having parents is not simply normal; it is a blessing which not everyone gets. I apologised to my parents for the previous night’s behaviour and thanked my father for teaching me this lesson.

My father told me something in my ear, and I quickly ran towards the car. I opened the trunk and retrieved a big box of chocolates and candies. My mother also came to help me with the other package which had crayons and colouring books in it. I distributed these things among the children at the orphanage with my own hands. I can’t possibly describe how happy and delighted they were.

“The Happiest Days of Your Life” is a story by Penelope Lively. The story is about a young boy named Charles, who suffers by the consequences of his mother and fathers inability to take proper care of him. Charles is in that stage of his life, where his parents are trying to find him a preparatory school, and Charles and his parents are visiting a well-seen school. The story stretch over a day and takes place in Sussex, which is in southern England. When the family is heading for the school, it says in the text that they are passing the Sussex landscape. Sussex is an upper class area, and that could indicate that the environment is rich. The school is a big luxury mansion in Sussex, and this is where most of the story takes place. Inside the school everything is also formal. This school is expensive, which could tell that Sussex is not a middle class area. In the end of the story, Charles’ parents says that the they think that the school is a little bit pricey, and that shows us that the family is not entirely upper class, but more upper middle class. Charles must be around 7 years old because his parents are trying to find preparatory school for him. Charles is a very shy boy who rarely even speaks, he does not even say one word during the entire story. He lacks of courage and in the very end of the story he does not even dare tell his own parents what he thinks about the school and that he definitely do not want to attend the school after he heard some boys saying that they want to beat him up next term. The introvert personality of Charles could be the consequence of his parents being inattentive during his entire childhood. The parents seems to be more interested in the school and what it is able to offer them rather than to think about Charles. Charles’ parents has already decided, when Charles is ask of his thoughts about the school. When they are walking around the school and looking at the facilities, they give this vibe that they do not really care about how Charles thinks about the school. Charlie is also always left two paces behind his parents when they are walking up the stairs, and the father is also talking about which kind of business connections this school could bring them in the future. “For a moment the three adults centred on the child, looking, judging. The mother said: ‘He looks so hideously pale, compared to those boys we saw outside” (Lively, page 57) His parents wants show themself off, like upper class people and wants to have a good reputation, and this snobbish attitude has affected Charles throughout his childhood. They have always been more attentive to their social appearance, than how Charles has felt, and this has made Charles a introvert and shy person, which has been lacking care and affection. The atmosphere of the school is very formal and rich. The school has a big gate which can give visitors the feeling that the school is a exclusive place, where only few are welcomed. The school have corridors and glass doors, which also gives it a historical and old feeling. Generally the school has the atmosphere of a place, where many upper class students throughout the years have attended, and this has created the formal, historical and exclusive reputation. The headmaster and his wife also contributes to this atmosphere. They are well dressed and acts friendly, but i think that this only applies to people, who they think is of high status. While Charles’ parents talks to the headmaster, the headmasters wife leads Charles to the class he would join, if i attends the school. As soon as the headmasters wife enters the room, the boys in the class acts very interested and polite, some of them even tries to hold the door for her, but as soon as she is gone, they circulates around Charles and intimates him. “He stands in the middle of them with shoulders humped, staring down at feet: grubby plimsolls and kicked brown sandals. There is a noise in his ears like rushing water, a torrential din out of which voices boom, blotting each other out so that he cannot always hear the words.” (Lively, page 58) The school atmosphere could form the students who attend it, to become snobbish in their adult life. A child’ surroundings has a lot to do with how they will turn out to be, so if you attend a school where the mentality is that the more money you have, the better person you are, then you have a bigger chance to become snobbish and selfish. “‘Well?’ ’I liked it, didn’t you?’ The mother adjusted the car around her, closing windows, shrugging into her seat.’ ‘Very pleasant. Nice chap.’ ‘I like him. Not quite so sure about her.’ ‘It’s pricey, of course.’ ‘All the same…’ ‘Money well spent though.’ ‘Shall we settle it, then?’ ‘Yes, i’ll drop him a line.’” (Lively, page 58) Throughout the story we are shown how the parents of Charles wants him to attend this pricey school. That is because the parents wants Charles and themself to look like upperclass people, who are in control with their life. “The child does not answer. He looks straight ahead of him, at the road coiling beneath the bonnet of the car. His face is haggard with anticipation. ‘Next term, we’ll mash you..’” (Lively, page 59) Conflicts is a part of growing up, and some children may have a harder time than the rest. A lot of children are being bullied, and this can be for many reasons. Social class can be a reason. Many children are bullied and made fun of, based on their background, family status and wealth. In Charles situation, he is both shy and introvert, but also not from as high a class as the other students who attends the school. This package could make Charles a great target for bullies.

100 Words Essay on The Happiest Day of My Life

The introduction.

The happiest day of my life was when I got my first pet, a puppy. I had always wanted a pet and that day my wish came true.

The Surprise

My parents surprised me on my 10th birthday. They brought in a small, fluffy puppy, which I named ‘Buddy’.

Playing with Buddy, taking care of him, and seeing him grow brought immense joy. That day, filled with surprise and happiness, remains the happiest day of my life.

250 Words Essay on The Happiest Day of My Life

The genesis of joy.

The concept of happiness is subjective, varying from person to person. However, there are certain moments in our lives that stand out, shining brighter than the rest, encapsulating pure, unadulterated joy. For me, the happiest day of my life was when I received my college acceptance letter.

The Anticipation

The anticipation leading up to that day was intense. With my future hanging in the balance, the wait was nerve-wracking. The application process was arduous, filled with late nights, numerous revisions, and a constant internal dialogue questioning my worthiness.

The Revelation

Then, one ordinary day, the envelope arrived. The university logo shone brightly, a beacon of hope amidst a sea of regular mail. My heart pounded as I tore open the envelope. The first word I saw was ‘Congratulations,’ and a wave of euphoria washed over me.

The Elation

The elation that followed was indescribable. The realization that my hard work had paid off, that I was on the path to fulfilling my dreams, was overwhelming. The feeling of accomplishment and the anticipation of the adventures that lay ahead was intoxicating.

The Reflection

In retrospect, the happiness of that day was not just about the acceptance, but also about the journey that led to it. It was a testament to my perseverance, a confirmation of my abilities, and a promise of a brighter future. That day, I learned that happiness is not just about reaching our goals but also about the journey we undertake to achieve them.

In conclusion, the happiest day of my life was a blend of relief, joy, and anticipation. It was a day that marked the beginning of a new journey, one that I eagerly looked forward to.

500 Words Essay on The Happiest Day of My Life

The preamble.

Life is a tapestry of moments that weave together to create our unique stories. Each thread, each moment, holds its own significance, but some stand out more prominently than others. One such moment, the happiest day of my life, is etched in my memory with vivid clarity.

The day started like any other, with the sun’s rays gently nudging the world awake. But there was a distinct undercurrent of excitement that set it apart. I had been preparing for months for the National Debating Championship, pouring over resources, honing my arguments, and practicing my delivery. Today was the day of the final round, and a sense of anticipation hung heavy in the air.

The Performance

The auditorium was packed, the atmosphere electric with anticipation. As I stepped onto the stage, I felt a rush of adrenaline. My heart pounded in my chest as I delivered my argument with conviction and clarity. The audience watched with rapt attention, their silence punctuated by occasional nods of agreement. The feeling of connecting with the audience, of being able to articulate my thoughts with such precision, was exhilarating.

The Triumph

Then came the moment of truth. The judges, after what seemed like an eternity, announced the results. The words “And the winner is…” echoed in the auditorium, followed by a pause that felt like a lifetime. Then, my name rang out. A wave of disbelief washed over me, quickly replaced by an overwhelming sense of joy and accomplishment. I had won! The applause that followed was deafening, the cheers of my friends and family reverberating in my ears.

The Celebration

The rest of the day was a blur of celebrations. There were congratulatory messages, hugs, and laughter. The joy was infectious, spreading like wildfire amongst my loved ones. We celebrated late into the night, the happiness of the day spilling over into the cool evening.

Reflections

The happiest day of my life was not just about winning a competition. It was a testament to the power of hard work, determination, and belief in oneself. It was about overcoming self-doubt and fear, about pushing oneself beyond perceived limitations. But most importantly, it was about the joy of sharing a moment of triumph with those who matter the most.

In conclusion, happiness is subjective, varying from person to person. For some, it might be a grand achievement, for others, a simple moment of connection. For me, the happiest day of my life was a combination of personal achievement and shared joy. It was a day that taught me the true value of hard work, perseverance, and the power of belief. It was a day that I will cherish forever.

Essay on Happiest Day in My Life – 300 Words

Such happiest days in one’s life are quite a few and rare. They come once in a blue moon. They do not visit us every day. If someday is `happiest’ for someone, it may be ‘saddest’ for somebody else. All days are not equal. Some may be quite cheerful. Others may be sorrowful. Life is visited by weals and woes by turn. If you are sad today, you may be pretty glad the next day. Someone wins a lottery on a particular day. That day becomes for him the happiest day of his life. One gets plucked in the examination; he calls this day as the most miserable. But in my life, the happiest day is 17th September. I was born on this day. It was on Saturday. People take pride in their birthdays. They attach special importance to such days when they saw the light of the day. So for me, my birthday is a significant day. Relatives and friends come to me. They share my happiness. They partake cake, sweets and dinner. Choicest dishes are prepared. The house is decorated, electric bulbs and tubes are lighted. Canopy is hung. Mats, carpets and rugs are spread out. The cake is ordered. It is brought and cut. All wish me a happy birthday. They cheer me, they sing songs, they dance. The whole atmosphere pervades with joy. I become the hero of the day. Eat and drink goes on long in the night. Gifts and presents are heaped on me. I feel excessively jubilant and gay. I celebrate this day with great pomp and show. I wait for this day for days together. Every year this date reminds me that I am older by one year. It is a day of reckoning (thinking) for me. I assess my success and failure. I take account of my failings. I resolve to be just and considerate. I vow to be sincere to my friends, relatives and my country. It is a day of great rejoicings and merry-makings for me and for my family. Every year this day is the happiest day of my life. My happiness is unbounded. It is limitless. It has its own charms and attractions. Hove this day very much; but sorry it comes once in a year.

Happiest Day of My Life edumantra.net

There is hardly any living being who has never gone through ups and downs in his life. Life is full of incidents both good and bad. Some of them may be forgotten with the passage of time whereas others leave an everlasting imprint on the mind. One feels delighted when fortune favours one but one plunges into despair during misfortunes. A wise man is one who is neither overjoyed in prosperity nor takes adversity to heart. Last year, I passed the Senior School Certificate Examination. Though I had given it my best shot, I was not confident of scoring too well. Anything less than a first division would certainly throw a spanner in the path of my future career. The day before the result was expected, I spent a restless night. Early next morning, I along with a few friends hurried to school and went straight to the display board. Starting at eye level I went down the list, with my heartbeat going up as I reached the bottom. My name was not there. With a heavy heart, I ran my eyes up to the list. And there! I looked again. Yes, it was my name—second in the list. Not only had I secured the first division, but also stood second in my class. God fulfilled my desires. I felt grateful to Him. My friends also passed, securing good marks. In order to celebrate our success, we decided to go to a picnic. We reached Okhla, a lovely picnic resort, at 12 noon. The heavy rush of visitors could not deter our enthusiasm as we sought out a huge banyan tree on the banks of the canal. We spread out our mats and opened up the food hamper. The lively music and delicious food swept away all the tension of the past few days. The idyllic atmosphere was abruptly broken by some loud cries. The sound came from the canal side. I immediately rushed towards the canal and was shocked to see a boy drowning. He was crying for help. I jumped into the canal and swam towards the drowning boy. After a great struggle, I dragged him towards the bank. He was in a very bad state. When I observed him carefully, I was surprised to see that he was an old classmate of mine. He was given medical aid and after some time, he regained consciousness. I was delighted to see him recovering. My joy knew no bounds because I had saved the life of a boy, who happened to be my old classmate. It was a day of great joy and happiness. Not only did I secure the second position, but also did a brave and noble act by saving a boy from the jaws of death. This day would go down as one of the happiest days of my life.

School Days Are the Happiest Days of Your Life – Is a Lie

This post may contain affiliate links.

My dad used to say that to me when I was a kid. ” School days are the happiest days of your life”. I can see from the internet that it’s still a thing, people are searching for posts that tell them how to write an essay, speech or debate on that topic, so I guess schools are still trying to perpetuate that myth to keep kids compliant.

This myth we tell children goes hand in hand with the other classic lines every parent uses at some point.

“School is so much fun !”

“You’ll make loads of lovely new friends!”

These are probably believed and deeply ingrained and we pass them on to persuade our too-young children that being assimilated into the system away from their comfort and support humans is a potentially good idea.

Some kids are cool with that, for sure.

For others maybe these words will lessen the tears during the first few weeks of separation.

Before childhood becomes resigned to the status quo.

Well I’m here to tell you that the opposite is true. School days are actually the worst days of your life. I’m an adult, I was a child, I went to school and I’ve lived the last 30 years plus outside school. The adult part of my life has been far, far happier and I actually had a pretty good school experience. I’m not down on that. But let’s all just look at reality for a moment.

School Days are the Best Days of Your Life

School days are the best days of your life is a lie

School days are not the best days of our lives, they’re actually the worst days of our lives. Let me explain why they’re certainly not the best.

I’ll just say again that I was pretty cool with my school experience. I am not here to dis school particularly. I just want to say that being an adult is better. Being a university student is much better too. Just about anything is better than being in school.

I did well, passed exams and didn’t hate school too much at all, but lots of my friends did. Their parents would tell you that they loved school, were doing well, my friends would tell you the opposite.

I could give you a list of names, I’m not making this up. I’ve argued with them that school was fine, they are strongly opposed to my view. Their truth is the real truth, not the parental perception.

We had a 13 year old child visit recently. We’d heard how he loved school, everything was great, but privately he told us that he hated it.

I read a post yesterday, it talked about how children in classrooms were ” adequately stimulated”. Those are the 2 most depressing words I’ve ever read. Who wants to be “adequately stimulated” for 14 years or so? It made me think of lab rats. That’s what got me thinking. Why do we tell kids that once they leave school, that’s it, nothing better will happen? Surely that’s counterproductive?

And that is exactly what ” School days are the best days of your life” is saying.  You can swap school days for childhood if you like, it doesn’t really matter here. We’re telling kids to make the most of it, because the adult world sucks.

I’m addressing this from a school perspective because, that great myth in the title has the word ” school” in it. And most kids DO spend their childhoods in school. It’s society’s norm, for now. But that’s changing .

  • You have no personal freedom during the school day.
  • You have no free will, you must do as you are told.
  • You can’t freely respond to your body’s needs to move, eat, drink, even go to the bathroom.
  • Some can’t even choose what they wear.
  • Some can’t choose how to wear their hair.
  • You have a list of have-to-do’s rather than want-to-do’s
  • You are not free to follow your own academic interests if they don’t correspond with the curriculum.
  • What little free time you have is at least partially taken up with school related forced assignments
  • During exam times school and revision take up your whole life – pressure is huge.
  • You are under pressure to “do well” and that “do well” is not of your own definition.
  • You are lied to. Doing well at school is not the key to a happy life.
  • Nowhere near enough free time to do your thing, to discover what your thing is, to be you.
  • Conformity.
  • You can face judgement, criticism, bullying and social isolation.
  • You don’t have financial freedom, you are parent dependent and your finances often depend on approved behaviour.
  • You have to be what somebody else wants you to be or face the consequences.
  • You may be treated as a child, not as a person with human being rights and valid opinions.
  • You are told that further education and further education debt are the best way forward. More lies.
  • Older people can make decisions for you even if you oppose them.
  • You can’t even vote.

Now some would say that all the above is perfect preparation for the workforce. And they’d be absolutely right.

Why What Comes After School is So Much Better

Being an adult is the best, if you throw all that school conditioning out of the window.

  • You can live your dreams, and your dreams are unique to you, they could be anything.
  • You can do what you like and don’t need permission, just keep it legal and harmless.
  • You can achieve financial freedom and independence.
  • You can strive to make a difference in the world and have time to dedicate to that.
  • You can find a partner in love, in life who will support you through everything and not judge.
  • You can still surround yourself with friends if you choose to, but you won’t be forced to associate with the same people every day, even if you dislike them.
  • You can still play games and sports if you choose to, but it’s your choice, not forced.
  • You are free to change jobs.
  • You are free to change house, town or country.
  • You are free to buy that puppy.
  • You are free to eat ice-cream for breakfast, be vegan, or whatever else you choose.
  • You are master of your life.
  • If you don’t like your life you can work to change it.
  • If people judge or criticise, it doesn’t have to impact on your life. Approval is not required from third parties.

How are school days better than that?

Loads of people are going to say that they loved school. But that’s not the issue here, I’m sure you did. But would you honestly rather be in school, or even be a child, than be an adult? That is my point and so many people are missing that point because of their defensiveness of the school system.

That is not what I’m talking about here.  I don’t want to hear how great you think school is, we’re not talking about that and I don’t have my homeschooler hat on today.

The Best Days of My Life Were These

  • Travelling – I love travelling, you may not, that’s cool.
  • New love and old love.
  • A good marriage.
  • Having contentment and inner peace – because sometimes those things are all that’s required.
  • Having children, pregnancy, birth and watching child become adult.
  • Creating a business.
  • Seeing the places and things I’ve always dreamed of seeing.
  • Accomplishing things I’d set out to achieve, in fitness, hobbies, skills and work.
  • Hard work paying off.
  • Being mum and being wife.
  • Being the giver of freedom and facilitator of choice to those I love.
  • Being in a position to help.
  • Being in a position to change things.

And that is my thought for the day. Yes, we homeschool ( or worldschool) but that’s not actually relevant here. I’m not even going to say that my kids world schooling days are the best days of their lives, that would be unthinkable. I hope for so much more for their future selves and to imply that adulthood will never live up to school days or childhood is an absolute tragedy. Please kids, enjoy your lives, all of them, don’t resign yourselves to moderate contentment unless moderate contentment is truly your dream. If it is, then that’s fine. Have your happiest life possible, but don’t believe that your life becomes a tedium of responsibility, misery and hardship the moment you leave the school gates. It doesn’t have to be.

I went to a Catholic school and loathed it. Children were subject to degrading and humiliating behavoiur, which would be illegal now. It was all dismissed as “not standing for any nonsense”, which meant frequently beating children on any pretext. Why child-hating people are put in charge of children is a mystery. Christ never preached beating children but striving to be like them. James Henratty the murderer, was our most famous “old boy” and was hanged. Treating children like savages encourages them to behave that way (they did).

I went to art college and the student behavoiur there was far superior.

The Best Day of My Life Essay

The best day of my life is my 16th birthday. It is a day I will never forget in my life. I consider it till now my best birthday. All my relatives and friends were present at my birthday party. The best part of the party was my grandmother was present there. For the last time, she prepared all the food items I loved eating. It is even more special as it was the last day that I spent with her, after which she passed away. I spent the most time with her and she also enjoyed herself a lot with me for the last time in her life. This birthday is even more special as it was my last birthday with my grandmother.

The best day of my life was when I went on a school outing with my friends. We ate delicious food and enjoyed the day to the fullest.

I woke up at 6 am and got ready for school. My mother dropped me to school. From there we went to a science park by bus. During the entire journey we danced, sang, played games, and did many more fun activities. We ate snacks and played games with our teacher also. When we arrived we visited the science city and enjoyed every bit of it.

Besides the science park, it was a water park, so we quickly changed our clothes and jumped into the pool. We enjoyed ourselves in the pool, and we kept on playing for an hour. After that, we took a bath and changed clothes. We had rice and chicken for our lunch. We loved the food. After the food, we returned by bus. During the whole bus journey, we sang and danced.

This day is memorable as I could spend it with my friends. The day was a day to be remembered. We had so much fun together. Everything is worth remembering from the beginning to the end of the journey.

Life is full of events - both good and bad. Some things will be forgotten over time, and some will stay in your heart forever. Life is full of surprises and shocks, good and bad news, and unexpected turns. Fortune can benefit some people in life, and help them to reach the pinnacle of glory and happiness.

The Best Day of My Life

Recently I received the best gift from my dad. Since childhood, I always wanted a dog, and recently he had brought me one. I was studying in my room, dad entered my room with a labrador in his hands. I jumped from my bed with happiness. I also started crying as I could not believe my eyes. My mom and dad were always against having a dog. But he brought it, and made it the best day of my life.

Significance of My Best Day

I still remember myself bursting into tears and happiness at the same time. That night I held Bruno the whole time. The next moment I saw myself buying stuff for the dog. I bought food, clothes, toys, and many more things which would make him happy. That night I held him tight and slept beside him. I could not sleep the whole night due to the excitement.

I looked at him throughout the entire night with utmost happiness and surprise. That day was the best day of my life as I got my best friend. A best friend who would never leave me. A best friend who will always be there for me whenever I need him.A best friend who will make me the happiest. A friend who will love me to the fullest. That dog gave me the ultimate happiness and, this is how the day became the best day of my life. I named the dog Bruno.

I am always looking for him whenever I come back from school. He always jumps, licks me, and wags his tail after seeing me. My friends come along with me to play with him. Bruno also became their friend.

What I Love about My Dog

The thing that I love about Bruno the most is that he can gel well with people. My sister was not that comfortable with dogs. But Bruno made her fall in love with him. They are now the best of friends. He would jump in happiness whenever he saw him. She would also run toward him and would pick him up. She feeds him food and always brings toys and treats for him. She loves her to the fullest and, at the same time he loves her to the fullest. This is how Bruno became everyone's favourite.

Every person has some happy days and some bad days in their life. Both help people learn different things from these different experiences. But the happy days are worth remembering. They help you cheer on your days of sadness and bring back all the memories that are worth cherishing. The best day has a great impact on our life.

Write a composition (350 - 400 words) on the following: "School days are the happiest days of our lives. Express your views either for or against this statement.

For the statement: school days are the happiest days of our lives. one of the luckiest things to have is a happy childhood. and school is an unforgettable part of our happy childhood, isn't it there is something about childhood that no other phase of your life can replace. i believe school days are the happiest days of our lives because we are protected, loved unconditionally, and free from worldly responsibilities. school days were the best as your mum allowed you five extra minutes in bed every second day. it was nice to be a school goer as only had to race with your friends till the bus stop and not run to the bus depot or metro station to get to work on time. if you were late to school you could blame your school bus, or your mother who served your breakfast late, or your dog who chewed off your shoe, or your friend who pushed you into a puddle just for fun. your parents watched over you and when they didn't you were looked after by your teachers and older siblings and even the nosy neighbours and the scary watchman of your complex. you had so many people to catch you in case you fell. school days were better than today because no matter how many window panes we broke or tyres we punctured, we were loved and showered with affection by our parents. our older siblings always fought for us even if we were wrong. our grandparents pampered us spoilt in the vacations with grandma cooking delicious meals and grandpa taking us to adventure trips in the woods. no matter how bad a student we may have been at school, mum always tucked us lovingly into bed and prayed for bad dreams to go away. school projects, impending exams, weekly tests; these were all i don't care for us but nightmares for our parents. no matter how close the exam day was, we would continue to sleep for those extra five minutes in bed while mum gathered material for us to quickly revise our lessons. while we spend the evenings playing downstairs, our parents would invoke all the creative spirits and complete our projects and assignments. we got to walk gloriously in school when the assignment they completed gave us a+. we were untouched by stress and the struggles of being responsible for ones actions all the time. in conclusion, i reiterate that school days are the happiest days of our lives because we are protected, loved unconditionally, and free from worldly responsibilities. at the end of a day in school, our feet were dirty, hair was messy, but our eyes were sparkling with a wish to have another wonderful day at school tomorrow. against the statement: school days are the happiest days of our lives. for some school goers, the sun is always shiny and people around are always nice. but for some school goers, school is not the happiest memory of their childhood. it is full of peer pressure, lack of confidence and being bullied. at school, every deficit that you have is mocked at by your classmates. you are always supposed to fit in if you want to belong to a group. if your classmate got a new school bag with the photo of the latest superhero, you need that bag because otherwise you don't fit in. if pink coloured flowery stationery pouches are trending, you must have them or you will feel out of place when you are doing group studies at your friends place. if your friends use expensive gadgets, they influence you to want that gadget because you belong to their group, and birds of the same feather flock together. school days are the worst nightmares for introverts. you hate being a part of the full-house morning assembly. you hate being picked by your teacher for loud reading in front of the whole class. you pray that you don't have to participate in any elocution competitions. you are miserably nervous on the day your friend doesn't come to school because then you have to travel alone and face people. school is the worst for people who don't have high confidence levels. the most miserable part of school life is being bullied by classmates stronger and outgoing than you were. you have bad dreams about an episode of you being cornered by bullies in the restroom in school. it happens all the time. they catch you at vulnerable points and your modesty and self-respect is compromised over and over again. and because you are shy, you are too scared to go and complain to your teacher. students who like to be by themselves are called losers, and the whole class spares no moment to make fun of them. school is not the happiest memory of childhood for some. it is full of peer pressure, lack of confidence and being bullied..
