How to make a company profile presentation

Short answer

What is a company profile presentation?

A company profile presentation is a short, visually appealing presentation that tells your company's story — covering its mission, history, key achievements, and future aspirations. It's perfect for making a great first impression on clients and investors, showing them what makes your business special in a clear and engaging way.

Without a compelling company profile, you’re just another logo in a sea of businesses

In a world where every niche is crowded with competitors, both fresh startups and established giants, standing out is not just tough; it's a survival game.

Not having a strong company profile presentation can lead to missed opportunities and potential customers slipping through your fingers.

But here's the good news: I believe your company can not only compete but also shine.

Stick with me, and you'll learn to create a company profile presentation that not only stands out but also holds its own against the big players. I’m going to walk you through easy-to-implement, effective ways to elevate your company profile from just another name to a standout brand.

Let’s get started!

What makes an effective company profile presentation?

An effective company profile presentation blends engaging storytelling, interactivity, and personalized content that speaks directly to your audience. It's about making a connection, tailoring your message to resonate with viewers, and highlighting your company's journey, mission, and successes.

What should a company profile presentation include?

When you're putting together a business profile presentation, think of it as telling your business's story in a way that's both engaging and informative.

It's your chance to connect with your audience, whether they're potential investors, clients, or partners, and give them a real sense of what your company is all about.

Here's a breakdown of what to include to make your business profile presentation shine.

1) The story of your business

Begin with the origins of your company. This isn't just about dates and facts; it's about sharing the journey, the ups and downs, and the lessons learned along the way.

This narrative helps your audience connect with your business on a personal level, understanding where you come from and what has shaped your company.

2) Core principles and goals

Your mission, vision, and values aren't just corporate jargon; they're the heart and soul of your business. They guide your decisions and actions.

Clearly presenting these principles helps your audience understand what your business stands for and what you're striving to achieve.

3) Milestones and success stories

Highlight the key moments that have defined your company's journey. This could be anything from launching a groundbreaking product to expanding into new markets.

These milestones not only showcase your achievements but also demonstrate your growth and adaptability.

4) Awards and recognitions

Displaying awards and recognitions adds a layer of trust and credibility. It shows that external bodies have endorsed your company, which can be a powerful tool in building confidence in your brand.

5) The team

People connect with people, not just brands. Introduce the key figures in your company, highlighting their expertise and roles.

You can also include employee testimonials that offer a genuine look into your company culture and the people who make everything happen. This humanizes your company and builds trust by showing the faces behind the business.

6) What you offer

Clearly outline what your company offers. This section should be straightforward, explaining your products or services and how they benefit your customers.

Keep it simple but informative, ensuring your audience understands your value proposition.

7) What makes you different

In a competitive market, it's crucial to highlight what sets you apart. Discuss your unique selling points and how they differentiate you from your competitors. This is your chance to explain why your company is the better choice.

8) Financial health and growth

Share key financial data that showcases your company's stability and growth potential. This reassures your audience of your business's health and prospects, which is particularly important for investors and partners.

9) Future plans and aspirations

Describe your goals and how you plan to achieve them. This shows that you're not just focused on the present but are actively planning for future growth and success.

10) Clear call to action

Finish your presentation with a clear invitation for your audience to take the next step. Whether it's exploring a partnership, trying out your products, or discussing investment opportunities, make it easy for them to know how to engage with your company.

How do you create a company profile presentation?

Creating a company introduction presentation is more than just listing facts about your business; it's an opportunity to tell a compelling story that resonates with your audience and offer a window into the soul of your business.

Here’s how to create a captivating company introduction presentation in a few easy steps:

1) Understand the purpose of your presentation

Before you start, it's crucial to understand why you're creating this presentation. Is it to attract investors, inform potential clients, or introduce your company to new employees?

Knowing your audience and purpose shapes the content, tone, and style of your presentation, ensuring it resonates with the right people in the right way.

2) Start with a strong introduction

Your introduction is your first impression. Start with something that grabs attention – your company's mission statement, a brief but intriguing history, or an engaging anecdote about how your company came to be.

This isn't just about providing information; it's about setting the stage and getting your audience interested in what comes next.

Here’s an example of a deck with a strong introduction:

3) Personalize your presentation

Customize your presentation to speak directly to your audience's interests and needs. If you're addressing potential clients, focus on how your products or services solve their specific problems. For investors, emphasize business performance and growth potential.

You can also add dynamic variables to your company profile and import relevant data like your reader’s name or company directly from your CRM. This simple trick will get 68% more people to read your deck in full , and share it internally 2.3x more often.

Here’s a great example of a personalized slide:

4) Incorporate scrollytelling

Scrollytelling can transform a static presentation into an interactive experience, especially for digital formats.

As the viewer scrolls, new elements of your story appear, keeping them engaged and curious about what's next. This technique works wonders for keeping your audience hooked.

Here’s what scrollytelling looks like in practice:

5) Tell your story authentically

Share your company's journey with authenticity. Talk about the challenges you've faced and how you overcame them, the milestones you've achieved, and the reasons behind starting your business.

Authentic storytelling creates a deeper, more emotional connection with your audience.

6) Add interactive elements

Interactive elements like clickable links, embedded videos, or tiered slides can significantly enhance your presentation's engagement level. These elements provide additional layers of information and interaction without overloading your slides with text.

7) Simplify complex information

Data visualization slides and infographics are powerful tools for presenting complex information in a digestible format.

Whether it's market trends, growth statistics, or financial data, visual representations make it easier for your audience to understand and remember key points.

Here’s a great example of using data visualization in a presentation:

8) Guide your audience to the next step

End your presentation with a clear call to action. What do you want your audience to do next? Whether it’s visiting your website, contacting your team, or exploring a partnership, make this step clear and easy to follow.

Interactive presentation makers let you integrate your calendar into your deck, making it easier than ever for readers to book a meeting with you.

Your presentation should unfold in a story that keeps your audience engaged. The order of your slides impacts the ultimate outcome and whether or not your audience is persuaded at the end of your presentation.

Building presentations

girl preparing company introduction presentation

Hey there, fellow presenters!

Today, we're diving deep into the art of crafting a remarkable company introduction presentation. You know, the kind that leaves your audience in awe and your competitors wondering how you did it.

Buckle up, because we're about to explore what makes a great company introduction presentation, and we've got some fantastic insights from the pros.

What is a company introduction?

First things first, let's demystify what a company introduction is all about. A company introduction is your golden ticket to make a lasting impression on potential clients, investors, or partners. It's like your business's first handshake, and we all know the importance of a firm handshake, right?

A company introduction presentation is more than just words on slides. It's your opportunity to showcase your brand, values, and offerings in a way that's both engaging and memorable. Think of it as your business's elevator pitch, but with visual flair.

Purpose of a company introduction presentation

So, why do we need company introduction presentations, you ask?

Well, here's the scoop: they serve a myriad of purposes, and each one is crucial for your business's success.

  • Setting the stage : Your company intro presentation sets the stage for future interactions. It's your chance to pique the interest of potential clients and create a solid foundation for further discussions.
  • Building trust : Trust is the foundation of any successful business relationship. A well-crafted presentation can establish your authority and credibility in your industry.
  • Conveying your brand : Your brand is your business's identity, and your presentation is the canvas to paint it on. Consistent branding across slides helps your audience remember you.
  • Highlighting key information : Whether it's your company's timeline, product lineup, or core values, a presentation lets you showcase essential information in a digestible format.
  • Engaging your audience : In the digital age, attention spans are shorter than ever. A captivating presentation keeps your audience hooked from the first slide to the last.

How to structure an effective company introduction presentation

Now that we've covered the why, let's delve into the how. Crafting an effective company introduction presentation requires careful planning and structure. Here's a breakdown of how to do it right:

1. Start with a bang : Your opening slide should grab your audience's attention immediately. Think bold visuals, intriguing statistics, or a thought-provoking question.

2. Introduce your company : This is where you shine. Talk about your company's history, mission, and what sets you apart from the competition. Here, you can utilize a introduction template to make your slides visually stunning.

3. Timeline of success : A timeline slide can visually narrate your company's journey. Highlight milestones, achievements, and growth points.

4. Product or service showcase : Use slides to showcase your products or services. High-quality graphics can make your offerings more enticing.

5. Testimonials that wow : Inserting customer testimonials adds an extra layer of trust. Share what your satisfied clients have to say about your business.

6. Presenting your team : Introduce the faces behind your company. Highlight key team members and their roles.

7. Company values and philosophy : Let your audience know what your company stands for. Share your core values and business philosophy.

8. Vision and mission : Outline your company's vision for the future and the mission you're on. A world map graphic can help illustrate your global aspirations.

Do’s and don'ts on a company introduction presentation

While we're on the subject, let's talk about some do's and don'ts when creating your company intro presentation:

  • Be concise : Keep it succinct and to the point. No one likes information overload.
  • Use high-quality visuals : Invest in powerful graphics to make your presentation visually appealing.
  • Engage your audience : Ask questions, encourage participation, and maintain eye contact (even in virtual presentations) to build rapport.

Don'ts:

  • Don't overwhelm : Avoid cluttered slides and too much text. Less is often more.
  • Steer clear of jargon : Speak your audience's language, not industry jargon.
  • Don't rush : Take your time. A rushed presentation can leave a poor impression.

Summarizing key takeaways

  • Purpose : A company introduction presentation is your chance to impress potential clients, build trust, convey your brand, share important information, and keep your audience engaged.
  • Structure : Start strong, introduce your company, showcase milestones, present products/services, include testimonials, introduce your team, share values and mission.
  • Do's : Keep it concise, use quality visuals, engage your audience.
  • Don'ts : Avoid clutter, industry jargon, and rushing through your presentation.

Business Presentation: The Ultimate Guide to Making Powerful Presentations (+ Examples)

Business Presentation Ultimate Guide plus examples

A business presentation is a purpose-led summary of key information about your company’s plans, products, or practices, designed for either internal or external audiences. Project proposals, HR policy presentations, investors briefings are among the few common types of presentations.

Compelling business presentations are key to communicating important ideas, persuading others, and introducing new offerings to the world. Hence, why business presentation design is one of the most universal skills for any professional.

This guide teaches you how to design and deliver excellent business presentations. Plus, breaks down some best practices from business presentation examples by popular companies like Google, Pinterest, and Amazon among others!

3 General Types of Business Presentations

A business presentation can be given for a number of reasons. Respectively, they differ a lot in terms of content and purpose.

But overall, all types of business presentations can be classified as:

  • Informative
  • Persuasive
  • Supporting

Informative Business Presentation

As the name suggests, the purpose of an informative presentation is to discern the knowledge you have — explain what you know. It’s the most common type of business presentation out there. So you have probably prepared such at least several times.

Examples of informative presentations:

  • Team briefings presentation
  • Annual stakeholder report
  • Quarterly business reviews
  • Business portfolio presentation
  • Business plan presentation
  • Project presentation

Helpful templates from SlideModel:

  • Business plan PowerPoint template
  • Business review PowerPoint template
  • Project proposal PowerPoint template
  • Corporate annual report template

Persuasive Business Presentation

The goal of this type of presentation is to persuade your audience of your point of view — convince them of what you believe is right. Developing business presentations of this caliber requires a bit more copywriting mastery, as well as expertise in public speaking . Unlike an informative business presentation, your goal here is to sway the audience’s opinions and prompt them towards the desired action.

Examples of persuasive presentations:

  • Pitch deck/investor presentations
  • Sales presentation
  • Business case presentation
  • Free business proposal presentation
  • Business proposal PowerPoint template
  • Pitch deck PowerPoint template
  • Account Plan PowerPoint template

Supporting Business Presentation

This category of business PowerPoint presentations is meant to facilitate decision-making — explain how we can get something done. The underlying purpose here is to communicate the general “action plan”. Then break down the necessary next steps for bringing it to life.

Examples of supporting presentations:

  • Roadmap presentation
  • Project vision presentation
  • After Action Review presentation
  • Standard operating procedure (SOP) PowerPoint template
  • Strategy map PowerPoint template
  • After action review (ARR) PowerPoint template

What Should Be Included in a Business Presentation?

Overall, the content of your business presentation will differ depending on its purpose and type. However, at the very minimum, all business presentations should include:

  • Introductory slide
  • Agenda/purpose slide
  • Main information or Content slides
  • Key Takeaways slides
  • Call-to-action/next steps slides

We further distill business presentation design and writing best practices in the next section (plus, provide several actionable business PowerPoint presentation examples!).

How to Make a Business Presentation: Actionable Tips

A business presentation consists of two parts — a slide deck and a verbal speech. In this section, we provide tips and strategies for nailing your deck design.

1. Get Your Presentation Opening Right

The first slides of your presentation make or break your success. Why? By failing to frame the narrative and set the scene for the audience from the very beginning, you will struggle to keep their interest throughout the presentation.

You have several ways of how to start a business presentation:

  • Use a general informative opening — a summative slide, sharing the agenda and main points of the discussion.
  • Go for a story opening — a more creative, personal opening, aimed at pulling the audience into your story.
  • Try a dramatic opening — a less apparent and attention-grabbing opening technique, meant to pique the audience’s interest.

Standard Informative Opening

Most business presentation examples you see start with a general, informative slide such as an Agenda, Problem Statement, or Company Introduction. That’s the “classic” approach.

To manage the audience’s expectations and prepare them for what’s coming next, you can open your presentation with one or two slides stating:

  • The topic of your presentation — a one-sentence overview is enough.
  • Persuasive hook, suggesting what’s in it for the audience and why they should pay attention.
  • Your authority — the best technique to establish your credibility in a business presentation is to share your qualifications and experience upfront to highlight why you are worth listening to.

Opening best suited for: Formal business presentations such as annual reports and supporting presentations to your team/business stakeholders.

Story Opening

Did you ever notice that most TED talks start with a quick personal story? The benefit of this presenting technique is that it enables speakers to establish quick rapport and hold the listener’s attention.

Here’s how Nancy Duarte, author of “Slide:ology: The Art and Science of Creating Great Presentations” book and TED presenter, recommends opening a presentation:

You know, here’s the status quo, here’s what’s going on. And then you need to compare that to what could be. You need to make that gap as big as possible, because there is this commonplace of the status quo, and you need to contrast that with the loftiness of your idea.

Storytelling , like no other tool, helps transpose the audience into the right mindset and get concentrated on the subject you are about to discuss. A story also elicits emotions, which can be a powerful ally when giving persuasive presentations. In the article how to start a presentation , we explore this in more detail.

Opening best suited for: Personal and business pitches, sales presentations, other types of persuasive presentations.

Dramatic Opening

Another common technique is opening your presentation with a major statement, sometimes of controversial nature. This can be a shocking statistic, complex rhetoric question, or even a provocative, contrarian statement, challenging the audience’s beliefs.

Using a dramatic opening helps secure the people’s attention and capture their interest. You can then use storytelling to further drill down your main ideas.

If you are an experienced public speaker, you can also strengthen your speech with some unexpected actions. That’s what Bill Gates does when giving presentations. In a now-iconic 2009 TED talk about malaria, mid-presentation Gates suddenly reveals that he actually brought a bunch of mosquitoes with him. He cracks open a jar with non-malaria-infected critters to the audience’s surprise. His dramatic actions, paired with a passionate speech made a mighty impression.

Opening best suited for: Marketing presentations, customer demos, training presentations, public speeches.

Further reading: How to start a presentation: tips and examples.

2. Get Your PowerPoint Design Right

Surely, using professional business PowerPoint templates already helps immensely with presentation deck design since you don’t need to fuss over slide layout, font selection, or iconography.

Even so, you’ll still need to customize your template(s) to make them on brand and better suited to the presentation you’re about to deliver. Below are our best presentation design tips to give your deck an extra oomph.

Use Images, Instead of Bullet Points

If you have ever watched Steve Jobs’s presentations, you may have noticed that he never used bullet-point lists. Weird right? Because using bullet points is the most universal advice in presentation design.

presentation about the company

But there’s a valid scientific reason why Jobs favored images over bullet-point texts. Researchers found that information delivered in visuals is better retained than words alone. This is called the “ pictorial superiority effect ”. As John Medina, a molecular biologist, further explains :

“Hear a piece of information, and three days later you’ll remember 10% of it. Add a picture and you’ll remember 65%.”

So if your goal is to improve the memorability of your presentation, always replace texts with images and visualizations when it makes sense.

Fewer Slides is Better

No matter the value, a long PowerPoint presentation becomes tiring at some point. People lose focus and stop retaining the information. Thus, always take some extra time to trim the fluff and consolidate some repetitive ideas within your presentation.

For instance, at McKinsey new management consultants are trained to cut down the number of slides in client presentations. In fact, one senior partner insists on replacing every 20 slides with only two slides . Doing so prompts you to focus on the gist — the main business presentation ideas you need to communicate and drop filler statements.

Here are several quick tips to shorten your slides:

  • Use a three-arc structure featuring a clear beginning (setup), main narrative (confrontation), ending (resolution). Drop the ideas that don’t fit into either of these.
  • Write as you tweet. Create short, on-point text blurbs of under 156 symbols, similar to what you’d share on Twitter.
  • Contextualize your numbers. Present any relevant statistics in a context, relevant to the listeners. Turn longer stats into data visualizations for easier cognition.

Consistency is Key

In a solid business presentation, each slide feels like part of the connecting story. To achieve such consistency apply the same visual style and retain the same underlying message throughout your entire presentation.

Use the same typography, color scheme, and visual styles across the deck. But when you need to accentuate a transition to a new topic (e.g. move from a setup to articulating the main ideas), add some new visual element to signify the slight change in the narrative.

3. Make Your Closure Memorable

We best remember the information shared last. So make those business presentation takeaways stick in the audience’s memory. We have three strategies for that.

Use the Rule of Three

The Rule of Three is a literary concept, suggesting that we best remember and like ideas and concepts when they are presented in threes.

Many famous authors and speakers use this technique:

  • “Duty – Honor – Country. Those three hallowed words reverently dictate what you ought to be, what you can be, and what you will be” . Gen. Douglas MacArthur.
  • “Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness” are the unalienable rights of all humans that governments are meant to protect.” Thomas Jefferson

The Rule of Three works because three is the maximum number of items most people can remember on their first attempt. Likewise, such pairings create a short, familiar structure that is easy to remember for our brains.

Try the Title Close Technique

Another popular presentation closing technique is “Title Close” — going back to the beginning of your narrative and reiterating your main idea (title) in a form of a takeaway. Doing so helps the audience better retain your core message since it’s repeated at least two times. Plus, it brings a sense of closure — a feel-good state our brains love. Also, a brief one-line closure is more memorable than a lengthy summary and thus better retained.

Ask a Question

If you want to keep the conversation going once you are done presenting, you can conclude your presentation with a general question you’d like the audience to answer.

Alternatively, you can also encourage the members to pose questions to you. The latter is better suited for informational presentations where you’d like to further discuss some of the matters and secure immediate feedback.

Try adding an interactive element like a QR code closing your presentation with a QR code and having a clear CTA helps you leverage the power of sharing anything you would like to share with your clients. QR codes can be customized to look alike your brand.

12 Business Presentation Examples and What Makes Them Great

Now that we equipped you with the general knowledge on how to make a presentation for business, let’s take a look at how other presenters are coping with this job and what lessons you can take away from them.

1. N26 Digital Bank Pitch Deck

The Future of Banking by N26. An example of a Business Presentation with a nice cover image.

This is a fine business pitch presentation example, hitting all the best practices. The deck opens with a big shocking statement that most Millennials would rather go to the dentist than step into a bank branch.

Then it proceeds to discuss the company’s solution to the above — a fully digital bank with a paperless account opening process, done in 8 minutes. After communicating the main product features and value proposition, the deck further conceptualizes what traction the product got so far using data visualizations. The only thing it lacks is a solid call-to-action for closing slides as the current ending feels a bit abrupt.

2. WeWork Pitch Deck

Business Presentation Example by WeWork

For a Series D round, WeWork went with a more formal business presentation. It starts with laying down the general company information and then transitions to explaining their business model, current market conditions, and the company’s position on the market.

The good thing about this deck is that they quantify their business growth prospects and value proposition. The likely gains for investors are shown in concrete numbers. However, those charts go one after another in a row, so it gets a bit challenging to retain all data points.

The last part of their presentation is focused on a new offering, “We Live”. It explains why the team seeks funds to bring it to life. Likewise, they back their reasoning with market size statistics, sample projects, and a five-year revenue forecast.

3. Redfin Investor Presentation

Redfin Investor Presentation for Business. A Technology-Powered Real Estate Company.

If you are looking for a “text-light” business presentation example, Redfin’s investor deck is up to your alley. This simple deck expertly uses iconography, charts, and graphs to break down the company’s business model, value proposition, market share, and competitive advantages over similar startups. For number-oriented investors, this is a great deck design to use.

4. Google Ready Together Presentation

This isn’t quite the standard business presentation example per se. But rather an innovative way to create engaging, interactive presentations of customer case studies .

Interactive Online Presentation example by Google, from Customer Insights. Google Ready Together Presentation.

The short deck features a short video clip from a Google client, 7-11, explaining how they used the company’s marketing technology to digitally transform their operations and introduce a greater degree of marketing automation . The narrated video parts are interrupted by slides featuring catchy stats, contextualizing issues other businesses are facing. Then transitions to explaining through the words of 7-11 CMO, how Google’s technology is helping them overcome the stated shortcomings.

5. Salesforce Business Presentation Example

This is a great example of an informational presentation, made by the Salesforce team to share their research on customer experience (CX) with prospects and existing customers.

Business Presentation Example by Service Salesforce on How to Know Your Customer. A look into the Future of Customer Experience.

The slide deck errs on the lengthier side with 58 slides total. But bigger topics are broken down and reinforced through bite-sized statistics and quotes from the company leadership. They are also packaging the main tips into memorable formulas, itemized lists, and tables. Overall, this deck is a great example of how you can build a compelling narrative using different statistics.

6. Mastercard Business Presentation

This slide deck from Mastercard instantly captures the audience’s attention with unusual background images and major data points on the growth of populations, POS systems, and payment methods used in the upcoming decade.

Business Presentation by MasterCard on Technology and Payment solutions. The Unfinished Revolution.

Perhaps to offset the complexity of the subject, Mastercard chose to sprinkle in some humor in presentation texts and used comic-style visuals to supplement that. However, all their animations are made in a similar style, creating a good sense of continuity in design. They are also using colors to signify the transition from one part of the presentation to another.

In the second part, the slide deck focuses on distilling the core message of what businesses need to do to remain competitive in the new payments landscape. The team presents what they have been working on to expand the payment ecosystem. Then concludes with a “title close” styled call-to-action, mirroring the presentation title.

7. McKinsey Diversity & Inclusion Presentation

This fresh business slide deck from McKinsey is a great reference point for making persuasive business presentations on complex topics such as D&I. First, it recaps the main definitions of the discussed concepts — diversity, equity, and inclusion — to ensure alignment with the audience members.

Business Presentation Example by McKinsey Company on Diversity Wins: How inclusion matters.

Next, the business presentation deck focuses on the severity and importance of the issue for businesses, represented through a series of graphs and charts. After articulating the “why”, the narrative switches to “how” — how leaders can benefit from investment in D&I. The main points are further backed with data and illustrated via examples.

8. Accenture Presentation for the Energy Sector

Similar to McKinsey, Accenture keeps its slide deck on a short. Yet the team packs a punch within each slide through using a mix of fonts, graphical elements, and color for highlighting the core information. The presentation copy is on a longer side, prompting the audience to dwell on reading the slides. But perhaps this was meant by design as the presentation was also distributed online — via the company blog and social media.

Business Presentation Example by Accenture on Accelerating Innovation in Energy.

The last several slides of the presentation deck focus on articulating the value Accenture can deliver for their clients in the Energy sector. They expertly break down their main value proposition and key service lines, plus quantify the benefits.

9. Amazon Web Services (AWS) Technical Presentation

Giving an engaging technical presentation isn’t an easy task. You have to balance the number of details you reveal on your slides to prevent overwhelm, while also making sure that you don’t leave out any crucial deets. This technical presentation from AWS does great in both departments.

Business Presentation created by AWS explaining how to build forecasting using ML/DL algorithms.

First, you get entertained with a quick overview of Amazon’s progress in machine learning (ML) forecasting capabilities over the last decade. Then introduced to the main tech offering. The deck further explains what you need to get started with Amazon Forecast — e.g. dataset requirements, supported forecasting scenarios, available forecasting models, etc.

The second half of the presentation provides a quick training snippet on configuring Amazon SageMaker to start your first project. The step-by-step instructions are coherent and well-organized, making the reader excited to test-drive the product.

10. Snapchat Company Presentation

Snapchat’s business model presentation is on a funkier, more casual side, reflective of the company’s overall brand and positioning. After briefly recapping what they do, the slide deck switches to discussing the company’s financials and revenue streams.

presentation about the company

This business slide deck by Snap Inc. itself is rather simplistic and lacks fancy design elements. But it has a strong unified theme of showing the audience Snapchat’s position on the market and projected vector of business development.

11. Visa Business Acquisition Presentation

VISA Acquisition of Plaid Business presentation.

If you are working on a business plan or M&A presentation for stakeholders of your own, this example from Visa will be helpful. The presentation deck expertly breaks down the company’s rationale for purchasing Plaid and subsequent plans for integrating the startup into their business ecosystem.

The business deck recaps why the Plaid acquisition is a solid strategic decision by highlighting the total addressable market they could dive into post-deal. Then it details Plaid’s competitive strengths. The slide deck then sums up all the monetary and indirect gains Visa could reap as an acquirer.

12. Pinterest Earnings Report Presentation

Pinterest Business Presentation Example with Annual Report

Annual reports and especially earnings presentations might not be the most exciting types of documents to work on, but they have immense strategic value. Hence, there’s little room for ambiguities or mistakes.

In twelve slides, this business presentation from Pinterest clearly communicates the big picture of the company’s finance in 2021. All the key numbers are represented as featured quotes in the sidebar with diagrams further showcasing the earning and spending dynamics. Overall, the data is easy to interpret even for non-finance folks.

To Conclude

With these business presentation design tips, presentation templates , and examples, you can go from overwhelmed to confident about your next presentation design in a matter of hours. Focus on creating a rough draft first using a template. Then work on nailing your opening slide sequence and shortening the texts in the main part of your presentation when needed. Make sure that each slide serves a clear purpose and communicates important details. To make your business presentation deck more concise, remove anything that does not pertain to the topic.

Finally, once you are done, share your business presentation with other team members to get their feedback and reiterate the final design.

8 Tips for a Winning Company Presentation

A company presentation is a vital tool for management and sales departments . This type of presentation plays a huge part in promoting the corporate brand – it’s layout and structure need to be professional and convincing . In this article, we’ll show you what goes into a successful company presentation.

Your company presentation in PowerPoint

Today’s dynamic market requires companies to adapt and continually seek out new partnerships and clients. Creating a compelling and versatile presentation of products and services is essential . Here are 8 useful tips for designing your company presentation in PowerPoint .

First impressions are everything – and that goes for company presentations, too. It takes people a fraction of a second to form an initial opinion and all too often, that initial opinion is hard to change. This makes it all the more important to set the right tone at introductory meetings.

At face value, a company presentation serves the simple purpose of presenting a company in the best possible light . You want to list key figures and detail services, but you also want to convey emotions and mission statements. The other party wants to learn about who you are .

Your company presentation needs to be tailored to your brand, your business, your products and your services . Although there is no ideal blueprint for a company presentation, there are principles and rules to guide the process.

Company Presentation

Tip 1: Preparation and design: The first impression counts

A company presentation is often the first step in connecting with important stakeholders . It lays the groundwork for further discussions and meetings and other objectives, such as closing a contract, establishing a partnership or inviting the client to a follow-up meeting.

You don’t get a second chance to make a first impression and your company presentation is no exception to this rule. To truly be effective, every presentation needs a professional design . And that starts with the corporate design (CD) .

Take a look at your existing company presentation. Is it consistent with your CD?

If not, you need to tailor the font, color scheme and visual language to your corporate identity. Establishing a consistent and meaningful design will help you make a lasting impression on potential clients and partners.

In addition, high-quality images are a must. Professional preparation and great design mean being able to win over even the most critical managing director or the most demanding customers.

✔ Keep the design of your company presentation timeless, elegant and appealing . Avoid overwhelming your audience with cluttered slides and too many bells and whistles. Clean and modern flat design (a large selection of graphics, icons and diagrams can be found here ),as well as isometric design (found here ) are currently on trend.

Tip 2: The 20-minute rule. Your audience’s time is precious!

Most executives and leader are pressed for time and as a result, attention spans can be short. For this very reason, keep your company presentation short:

Spend a maximum of 20 to 25 minutes on the introduction section (“about us”). Then it’s time to get to the point and present your business concept, specific offer, products and/or services in detail. Better yet, keep you presentation short and start a dialogue .

Studies have proven that during a presentation, attention levels drop sharply after just 15 minutes . Your audience will be grateful that you value their time. In most cases, they already know more about your company than you think.

Company Presentation

Tip 3: Structure: What belongs in a professional company presentation?

The art of a successful company presentation is, among other things, to condense the most important content of your business plan (business model, market, strategy, finances, etc.) onto a few slides . But it’s even more important to know which facts are truly relevant to your target audience and which are not.

1. Always start by answering the most important W questions :

Who? Contacts, management, staff, partner companies

What? Services, products, etc.

Where? Locations, industries/markets, business areas

How? Goal, vision, mission statement

Why? Advantages for new clients or partner companies

Emphasize the “What?” and ” Why?” of your presentation; this is what your audience will be most interested in.

2. Competition is fierce. Most markets are flooded with competitors and attractive alternatives. That’s why unique selling propositions and individual advantages are so important. What makes you special? Why are you better at meeting the needs of your audience?

3. Always include references from satisfied clients and customers . Concrete references help your audience better understand why your services or products are the right choice.

4. Call-to-action: The last slide of your PowerPoint presentation should motivate your audience to act . You’ve presented your company in detail and with conviction – now you want a reaction from the audience. You can formulate this call to action in more general phrases along the lines of “Let’s get it done!” or “Let’s go!”, package it as a targeted question about the content or use it as a prompt for follow-up contact.

Company Presentation

Tip 4: Highlight benefits to your target audience

Knowledge about your target group is power . The first question your audience will ask themselves when you give a presentation is, “How will I benefit from this?” Here are some questions that will help you tailor your content to your audience :

  • What are the driving factors for purchasing/collaborating?
  • How much prior knowledge about your company is available?
  • What follow-up questions are you likely to receive?
  • What key messages do you want to convey in your presentation?
  • What is your unique selling point (USP) and how do you differ from your competitors? Check out this blog article for more information.
  • What kind of design and layout is right for your (business) presentation?
  • Storytelling: How do you best get your story across?
  • Is the company history really interesting to your audience? Maybe it’s the new innovative solutions you’re about to launch that will deliver real added value?
  • Does it matter how many locations and employees you have or is how your customer service process works more important?

A good start to developing your presentation is a team brainstorming session followed by a workshop with key decision-makers from management, marketing, and sales. You can also bring editors, copywriters or a specialized agency on board.

Tip 5: Convince with more than just text

The presentation design needs to be just as convincing as the content. Most presentations we see consist of 70-80% text. But bullet points and sprawling text alone aren’t enough to make an impact .

The design process begins when you stop focusing on writing statements and start creating a presentation that supports your content visually. Here’s a good rule of thumb: 50% of your slide’s area should be text, 50% should be images, graphs and charts .

Obviously, you don’t have to follow this rigidly on all slides, but presentations with rich visual content are always a success . The most important thing is to keep written content short – keywords and short sentences are usually enough .

The following slides (screenshots from our Company Presentation Toolbo x ) provide vivid examples of layouts and designs.

Company Presentation Toolbox

Tip 6: The customer is king: Give them what they want

Before you start your presentation, ask your audience what information they need. Are they familiar with your company? Have they already gone to your website for information? Knowing this might help you tailor it more to your audience’s needs by editing or even completely omitting sections of your presentation. The key is to remain flexible while presenting and only include what is really relevant to your audience.

The first step is to make sure your presentation is completely up to date .  A slide master is the easiest way to make any universal changes to your presentation, update key figures, contact information, etc., without sacrificing formatting or layout.

Even in a completely updated presentation, you may find there’s information that just isn’t relevant to your target audience. PowerPoint helps you with this by providing a quick and easy option to hide slides . In the thumbnail pane, right-click the slide you want to hide and select Hide Slide .  You can also hide multiple slides by holding down the Ctrl key , clicking on them and then selecting Hide Slide with a right-click. The hidden slides will now appear greyed out. To reverse this option, simply click Hide Slide again and you slides will be visible.

Another technique to make your PowerPoint company presentation more flexible and interactive is to use hyperlinks . For example, you could hyperlink all the titles of individual sections on your agenda slide so that you can jump from the agenda slide directly to the relevant section with a simple click. This also allows you to respond dynamically to your audience’s reactions or interests.

Pro tip : Use your company logo as a home button. Adding a small logo to the corner of each slide not only strengthens your branding, but also allows you to add a hyperlink to the agenda slide. Click on the logo and you’re back to your PowerPoint presentation overview.

Tip 7: Present like a pro

A company presentation lives and dies by its delivery . Even a perfect presentation is of little value if the delivery isn’t convincing. As a presenter, you need to communicate the passion and enthusiasm you feel for your brand through your presentation.

But don’t go overboard! Be authentic . If you can do this, your company presentation will not only reinforce your company’s positive image but will also excite your audience.

Arouse emotions by using images that speak to your audience . Involve your audience by starting with words such as “Imagine…”. Focus less on “we” (your company) and more on “you” (your audience) . These techniques will help you open the door to your audience’s subconscious – which is where most decisions are made.

✔ Leave enough time to rehearse your presentation . Ask your colleagues if they would be willing to serve as a test audience and give feedback on your presentation.

Company Preseentation

Tip 8: Post-presentation best practice

Always prepare a ready-to-email format of your presentation . When your customers and partners are impressed, they’ more likely to ask for a digital copy.

Never send your presentation as a PowerPoint file; always send it as a PDF to preserve its formatting and layout. Be sure to pay attention to the file size , too. A company presentation in PDF format should be no larger than about 3MB. An email attachment containing a 30MB company presentation will come across as anything but professional. There’s also a risk that the email won’t even reach the recipient’s inbox due to a limited attachment size.

✔ Create your company presentation PDF before you present . This way, you can offer it as a digital copy directly after the presentation.

Win customers with your company presentation

On just a few slides, your company presentation summarizes all the pertinent facts and ideas with which you want to convince your audience. This makes it all the more important to truly understand your audience before you start designing your presentation .

The first impression counts – adhering to your corporate design will elevate your presentation to a higher, more professional level. Be concise and to the point and highlight the benefits your audience will derive from working with you and your company. A modern presentation is designed with a 50:50 ratio of text to images ; avoid too much text and unnecessary facts.

As the presenter, you represent your company. That’s why it’s especially important to be flexible and provide your audience with the information that matters most to them .

The aim of this blog post is to provide you with a general idea of how to create a practical and convincing company presentation in PowerPoint. These tips are based on years of proven professional expertise.

What It Takes to Give a Great Presentation

  • Carmine Gallo

presentation about the company

Five tips to set yourself apart.

Never underestimate the power of great communication. It can help you land the job of your dreams, attract investors to back your idea, or elevate your stature within your organization. But while there are plenty of good speakers in the world, you can set yourself apart out by being the person who can deliver something great over and over. Here are a few tips for business professionals who want to move from being good speakers to great ones: be concise (the fewer words, the better); never use bullet points (photos and images paired together are more memorable); don’t underestimate the power of your voice (raise and lower it for emphasis); give your audience something extra (unexpected moments will grab their attention); rehearse (the best speakers are the best because they practice — a lot).

I was sitting across the table from a Silicon Valley CEO who had pioneered a technology that touches many of our lives — the flash memory that stores data on smartphones, digital cameras, and computers. He was a frequent guest on CNBC and had been delivering business presentations for at least 20 years before we met. And yet, the CEO wanted to sharpen his public speaking skills.

10 Slides you should have in your company profile

  • Presentation design

Featured image for “10 Slides you should have in your company profile”

Creating a business presentation from scratch is never an easy task – you always have to consider and start from the type of presentation you’d need, the goals you want to achieve through it, your audience’s profile, needs and expectations, and the context of the presentation (how and where it’s going to be delivered and how much time will you have).

But when you have a guideline of how to figure out these elements and what you should include in your business presentation, then it all starts to make sense. That’s why we decided to put together several guides and how-tos on the most common business presentations out there. We started our series with the slides you should have in your pitch deck , followed by what to add in your sales deck and now in this article, we want to cover another very common type of presentation: the company profile.

We started this series with the structure for a pitch deck, followed by a sales presentation and now a company profile.

What is a company profile and when & where to use it?

Company profiles are presentations made to be used in introduction emails, to introduce your company before getting to specifics. You won’t need to actually present it, so make it explicit and easy to understand.

Compared to a live presentation, where your focus is on the audience, in a company profile it is ok to talk about you. The reader’s purpose is to get to know you.

A company profile is essential, from a startup to any major company

It is what most of your future partners and clients will see for the first time. What impression do you want to make?

It happens for a lot of companies to get so involved in making the company profile that they forget for who is actually made. Putting in all the information about you will make it boring for the reader and at the same time won’t leave any mystery about you.

As the Business Dictionary would define it:

A company profile is a concise description which, among other items of information, includes  firm’s history, number and quality of its human, financial, and physical resources, organizational and management structure, past, current and anticipated performance, and its reputation, and the standing of its goods or services.

But let’s not get wrapped around a definition and see how we can make a unique profile. Even if it’s your company profile, we recommend you to focus on how your company helps your customers.

It can also take many forms, some companies have it in a word document, others in a brochure, or as a presentation. We will talk about the 10 elements any company profile should have:

1. Mission statement/vision

This is the moment where you tell customers what drives you to do what you do. Continue with your mission and what are the values the brand stands for. Without knowing all the details about your products, they judge you by your values and your vision.

What does your company aspire to achieve?

You probably know the mission’s company, as it is part of your brand identity. With it, or with some additional information, also cover here details as who are your primary customers and where are your operations active.

presentation about the company

2. Brief history of the company

A very simple way to tell your history is with a timeline slide. This way you can put all the steps that got you to the present in a visual way that is easy to understand. For the important one you can always add a short paragraph.

Keep in mind that you should include both ups and downs from your company. Show your readers that you have been through difficult moments, but you overcame them.

presentation about the company

3. Overview of the solution

Spark some curiosity. Before getting into more details about each product/service you have, do an overview of the solution you are offering. Talk about what problem your solution tackles and how it does that.

You can also walk the reader through the process of creating this solution, what were your drivers and aspirations. This slide is meant to paint the big picture of your work.

presentation about the company

4. Development & Growth

Hit me some numbers. Use real facts and data to show the difference between where you started, where you are now and where the company is going. Based on the internal data make a connection with external factors. They will be of much more interest for the reader, and at the same time will be explained by your work.

Tell stories of how much effort all the company did to grow. It’s up to you if you want to share struggles your company faced or specific actions of improving.

presentation about the company

5. Detailed Products & Services

If your company has only a few products/services you can present them individually. Each product/service needs to be described from a technical point of view ( specific characteristics ) and from a customer point of view ( how can it be used/ for what it is used ).

In case there are too many products/services and it will take a lot of space to write about all, put them in categories. Under each category make a list of the products that it includes and add a general description.

It would be very helpful for your potential client and also for you if you add pricing and offers for the products/services. This will save time and you will continue discussion with those who are interested even after seeing the pricing.

presentation about the company

6. Industry recognition/position

Let your reader know what your position is in the market. Include details about market size, your contribution to the market and what is the course of the industry. Don’t forget to differentiate yourself from other players in the market.

Even better, if you have received any recognitions or awards don’t be shy to mention them. Your readers will trust your company more if they see you have been acknowledged by specialized institutions.

presentation about the company

7. Client portfolio & Testimonials

Show your potential partner/customer with whom you have already worked. Having testimonials form the biggest clients will bring value to your brand. Try to get a quote from a well known person in that organization or from an authoritative one.

Real feedback will strengthen your image without being too promotional. And is more credible as it comes from an external source.

presentation about the company

8. Case studies

A very good way to showcase your work is with a case study. This means that you take a client that you worked with and start explaining how you worked together, what were the challenges, how you handled them, what was your approach and what were the results.

This is the process from the first talk until the end of the collaboration. Focus on the relevant aspects that showcase your solution and your communication during the collaboration. It is also helpful to have feedback from the client here.

presentation about the company

9. Team & Departments

Who are the people behind the company?

In a startup it may be easier to present every member of the team, their background and area of expertise and it is also more important. A strong team sends a clear message, that you are ready for business.

For a bigger company having only the ones in leadership won’t be as meaningful. They must appear in the company profile together with the departments of the company. You want to transmit the image of a united company where every employee has its contribution.

presentation about the company

10. Call to Action & Contact

A must have in your company profile is a simple push toward the next step. If the reader doesn’t know exactly what to do when they finish going through the document give them a few ideas, like:

“For more information contact us”, “Let’s schedule a call to talk more”.

In the end put the contact info where you can be found, address, email, telephone number. You can also have more contact persons for different situations. This will make it easier for the reader and will shorten the contacting process.

presentation about the company

Company profiles can get very formal and have a lot of pages, the difference is that you can make it more interactive. Use creativity and put yourself in the customer shoes to see what they would be interested to see. May it be in a word document form or a presentation format do the best to personalize it and add your colors to it (metaphorically and literally).

Examples of Effective Corporate Presentation Slides

December 20, 2017 - Dom Barnard

Corporate presentations don’t have to be boring. Here are 5 great examples of interesting presentations from leaders in their respective industries. Learn how these presentations contextualise data, use quotes and tell stories to ensure they are memorable.

We cover presentations on Moz, Netflix, Accenture, HubSpot and Google, and include slides and quotes from the presentations.

Moz’s strategic vision for the future

Rand fishkin.

This presentation, written by the  co-founder of Moz , explains the future for the company. He talks about the move away from being purely SEO based and shifting into the marketing and sales industries, adding value further along in the pipeline.

Numbers are difficult to remember because they have little semantic meaning on their own. Rand uses bold colours and graphics to help readers contextualise these numbers. He chooses a few data points, such as the audience slide, and explains them in context.

The presentation is clearly laid out and easy to read, with humour added to give the impression Moz is a fun place to work.

Our favourite quotes:

“Moz’s mission is to help people do better marketing”
“Strategy is as much about what you are not going to do as what you are going to do”

Netflix culture code

Reed hastings.

At over 100 slides, this is one of the largest public culture code presentations and one of the most famous.

Reed talks about the 7 aspects of their culture, from values to salaries – this deck is an honest insight into the Netflix culture and how it runs as a company.

This presentation encourages conversation and is now one of the most shared ever. This is one of the best ways to get the audience to remember the messages of the presentation.

“We’re a team, not a family. We’re like a pro sports team, not a kid’s recreational team.”
“Netflix policies for expensing, entertainment, gifts and travel: Act in Netflix’s best interest.”
“Pay top of market is core to high performance culture.”

Technology vision overview of 2016

Accenture technology.

Despite being text heavy on several slides, the presentation gives an interesting insight into  Accenture’s technology vision .

Colourful graphics and images highlight each of the key technology trends Accenture believe are essential to business success in the digital economy. This presentation is more of a standard company presentation, with less humour and a more serious tone.

“We are in the midst of a major technology revolution, specifically a digital revolution.”
“Many companies, already reeling from the impacts of technology… find themselves temporarily overwhelmed.”

HubSpot’s journey from start to IPO

Slides from a talk Dharmesh Shah, co-founder of HubSpot, gave at the 2016 SaaStr event talking about how HubSpot got started with inbound marketing and the movement they have created behind it.

Storytelling is extremely important  when it comes to effective corporate presentations. This presentation paints a story which stimulates different parts of the brain and increases retention of the material.

Even with 44 slides, it’s a very quick read, with minimal text, large images and understandable concepts. HubSpot comes across as a friendly and fun place to work.

“Instead of giving away a part of the solution, give away a tool that diagnoses the problem.”
“Churn is not the quickest way to kill a growing SaaS company, but it’s the most reliable.”
“It takes more than technology, to build something big. You also need a philosophy.”

How Google works

Eric schmidt.

Eric Schmidt, the  former CEO of Google , talks about how Google works at a high level, including the importance of culture, communication and innovation.

Google is an incredibly complex company and Eric could have killed the presentation by explaining the company in depth. Instead, he focusses on a few key points and ideas, including ‘smart creatives’ and culture, that he wants to communicate to the people reading.

Eric chooses a cartoon styled presentation, with drawn illustrations to add meaning to his text. This is in line with the enjoyable culture Google tries to emphasise.

“Organise the company around the people whose impact is the greatest”
“Know the competition, but don’t follow it”
“Try to imagine the unimaginable, because unimaginable things are happening a lot”
“Power has shifted from companies to consumers, and expectations have never been higher”

"More Snapchat" Live at the 2024 NewFronts

Announcing new solutions and programs for advertisers

Snapchat was purposely built to be different than traditional social media and as a place to communicate with real friends and family. Our relationship-driven platform and happy, active, and growing community of 422 million daily active users have created a positive environment where brands and advertisers can drive better outcomes.

Today, Snap returned to the IAB NewFronts with “More Snapchat" to bring the magic of Snapchat to life for partners and announce new solutions, programs, and content partnerships for advertisers to connect with Snapchat’s unique and growing audience. Leveraging innovative multimedia projection mapping technology, we reimagined the historic Cipriani 25 Broadway into an immersive experience that captures the spirit, vibrancy, and joyful world of Snapchat.

AR Extensions

With AR Extensions, we will be enhancing the way Snapchatters experience ads, enabling advertisers to integrate AR Lenses and Filters directly into all of our ad formats, including Dynamic Product Ads, Snap Ads, Collection Ads, Commercials, and Spotlight Ads. Advertisers will be able to showcase their products and IP and share their branded world with Snapchatters through augmented reality directly through their ads.

New AR and ML Tools

We’ve been investing in Machine Learning and automation to make AR asset creation faster and easier. Now, we’re able to reduce the time it takes to create AR try-on assets at scale and help brands turn 2D product catalogs into try-on experiences. And, with ML Face Effects , brands can now create branded AR ads with Generative AI technology that allows custom-produced Lenses. This new capability enables brands to generate a unique machine learning model quickly, create realistic face effects, and generate selfie experiences for Snapchatters.

523 Program and Ensemble

We’re evolving our 523 creator accelerator program by partnering with award-winning actress, writer, and producer Issa Rae and her branded entertainment company Ensemble to help brands partner and produce content with 523 participants. Ensemble shares our mission to amplify the stories of creators from underrepresented communities. Together, we’ll empower this year’s 523 class of storytellers while providing brands with opportunities to collaborate directly with them.

Sports Partnerships and Programs

We’ve announced a number of sponsorship opportunities during some of the biggest moments in sports. For NBCUniversal’s Paris 2024 Olympic Games, Snap has partnered with NBCUniversal to bring our world to the summer games. For the first time, some of our most popular creators like Livvy Dunne, and Harry Jowsey will be in Paris to bring new perspectives, reporting from the most exciting events in their own unique voices.

There will also be new AR experiences produced by our in-house AR team, Arcadia, so our community can immerse themselves in NBC's coverage, as well as daily shows from NBC featuring the most exciting highlights from Paris. We cannot wait to see how people come together for the Games in these new ways. We’re also continuing our longstanding partnerships with the NFL , NBA, and WNBA, to provide official content across Stories and Spotlight for our community.

And, we’re launching Snap Sports Network , a sports channel within Snapchat that will cover unconventional sports, like dog surfing, extreme ironing, water bottle flipping, and more. Snap Sports Network is a new kind of content program that brands can leverage through sponsorships and product integrations. Through a mix of user-generated content, scripted content hosted by Snap Stars, and AR applications, Snap Sports Network will create opportunities for our community to take an active role in the experience. We’re excited to have launch partners e.l.f. and Taco Bell join in on the action with us.

Snap Nation

The power of real relationships on Snapchat is strengthened by our community’s various passion points, and we’re introducing a new way for Snapchatters to come together in a shared passion. Snap Nation is an exciting evolution of our partnership with Live Nation that gives Snapchatters access to tour and festival experiences that only Live Nation can offer.

Snapchatters will be able to see exclusive behind-the-scenes content from their favorite artists and watch the magic of live music experiences unfold through the Snap Nation Public Profile. Additionally, Snapchat will be curating stories from Live Nation concerts and festivals featuring public Spotlights from Snapchatters, Snap Stars, fans, and artists, covering the complete experience of these events from their perspective. Advertisers in the US will be able to participate via branded content across creator Stories, ads in Snap Nation Stories, AR Lenses leveraging Live Nation IP, and more. In the next year, Snap Nation will launch across 30 festivals and tours all over the country.

Ad Platform Improvements

We remain focused on investing in our ad business and delivering measurable results for our advertising partners. In Q1 2024, we grew revenue 21% YoY, driven by the improvements we’ve been making to our platform, including continued momentum with our 7-0 Pixel Purchase optimization model, our revamped Conversions API (CAPI), new campaign setup tools, and more.

We’re encouraged by the increased demand we’re seeing for our direct response solutions, and will continue our work to develop a more effective and efficient platform for our partners. Learn more about the progress we’re seeing here .

We look forward to working with our advertising, content, and creator partners to activate across all of these new opportunities!

Wait, Why Were There So Many Movies At The TV Upfronts This Year?

By Peter White , Dade Hayes

presentation about the company

When Emma Stone, star of Disney ’s Cruella and Searchlight’s Poor Things , introduced CEO Bob Iger at the company’s Upfronts presentation this week – the first time that the former TV chief had been on stage at the advertising rodeo in 30 years – it was clear that this is no longer just a TV event.

“To say a lot has changed since 1994 would be an incredible understatement and I’m not just talking about the color of my hair, or my fashion choices,” Iger said.

Netflix Upfront: Here’s What Happened At Pier 59 With Shonda Rhimes, Jamie Foxx, Cameron Diaz, George Kittle, Mindy Kaling & Kate Hudson

Amazon upfront: here’s what happened at pier 36 with jake gyllenhaal, will ferrell, reese witherspoon, alan ritchson & octavia spencer.

It marked a sea change for the Madison Avenue set, who were previously treated to a cavalcade of television stars promoting the small-screen, usually fresh from the broadcast pilot process. Unlike April’s CinemaCon, which plugs movies to theater owners, or July’s ComicCon, which entices fans, the Upfronts present movies as properties well-suited to automakers and pharmaceutical companies. The streaming wars over the past five years have revealed movies to be valuable subscriber lures and, as the industry embraces ads in streaming, marquee properties for brands.

In many cases now, advertisers buy positions ahead of theatrical launch and extending through streaming, a possibility in today’s marketplace due to tighter release windows.

But what’s clear is that film is invading one of the last moments for television to shine. The golden age of television highlighted that many of the most-talented writers wanted to work on the small screen. But despite this, television has always been somewhat in the shadows of the movie world, despite paying the bills for the biggest entertainment studios.

The shift was noticeable at the very start of the week when Donna Langley, Chief Content Officer at NBCUniversal , who recently took over the television production operations on top of running the film studio, prioritized Wicked , the Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande holiday tentpole, during her presentation.

“While the industry faces continual changes and real challenges, I would like to build on NBCUniversal ’s storied legacy to lead a unified strategy across film, TV and streaming,” she declared.

When reading out some of the more memorable film and TV quotes, Langley used a movie line that summed up the situation for television. “Houston, we have a problem,” she said.

The new approach was most evident when it came to the streamers – Amazon and Netflix – presenting live and in-person at the Upfronts for the first time.

Amazon kicked off with an appearance from Gyllenhaal to announce a sequel to his recent Road House reboot. “The original was a classic, so many people love that film, including me and all of us had such big shoes to fill. I love this character, I love this world and I can’t wait to bring more Dalton,” he said.

Amazon MGM Studios boss Jen Salke made plenty of television news – a new Tomb Raider series from Phoebe Waller-Bridge , a Nic Cage-starring Spider-Man noir live-action series , renewals for Cross , Mr. & Mrs. Smith and The Boys – but the biggest yuks of the day came from an appearance by Witherspoon and Ferrell, who were there to promote You’re Cordially Invited.

“As the rom-com king, I was able to give Reese a couple of pointers that really improved her on-screen performance,” said Ferrell. “That’s really sweet. I don’t like to talk about myself like this, but I’m kind of known for my rom-coms and you aren’t,” added Witherspoon. “I’m the f*cking queen of looking cute while sleeping [in movies].”

Witherspoon did pull double duty at the Amazon event, where she concluded Salke’s presentation with the news, revealed by Deadline, that the streamer was making a prequel to her Legally Blonde movie.

“Welcome to the next hundred years of Amazon MGM Studios,” added Salke, nodding to the century-old MGM, which the tech giant swallowed up for $8.45B in 2022. “Only Amazon has the ability to dive into IP and spark new obsessions across books, podcasts, music, fashion, and games. No other studio offers creators so many ways to engage with an audience. And this has made Amazon MGM Studios the home for talent.”

But even many of Amazon’s hot television projects are themselves based on movies. Noir, Tomb Raider, Mr. & Mrs. Smith and Elle are all based on films.

Similarly, Netflix made movie news with a sequel to classic Adam Sandler golf comedy Happy Gilmore, Keira Knightley starring in a feature adaptation of The Woman in Cabin 10 and a new film from Kathryn Bigelow.

Chief Content Officer Bela Bajaria talked up series such as Bridgerton , which launched its third season this week, as well as a new Kevin Williamson drama and a Tim McGraw bull riding series , but again it was Jamie Foxx and Cameron Diaz who stole the small stage at Pier 59 Studios to promote their new film Back In Action.

presentation about the company

Bajaria also gave a shout out to its upcoming Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F movie with Eddie Murphy. “It’s true to the original and it reminds you why this is one of Eddie’s most iconic roles,” she said.

Warner Bros. Discovery , led by former reality TV stalwart David Zaslav, similarly leaned in to its movie studio.

“We opened the door to greater exploration of what we can do together to launch our high-profile films,” she said, highlighting films such as Wonka, The Color Purple, Dune 2 and Furiosa.

The timing on the latter was interesting, given that it was almost at the same time that the George Miller movie was having its premiere at the Cannes Film Festival . The film festival has overlapped with the Upfronts before but it was noticeable that Furiosa’s world premiere on the Croisette unfolding just hours after the tubthumping in New York.

“As we look ahead to the future, we are so thrilled with the opportunities that await our brand partners on some of our biggest new releases: Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Minecraft and Superman ,” Nussbaum added.

Even Fox , a network that no longer has a sister movie studio, had a movie to promote. Yes, it was primarily there to promote series such as Grimsburg, Animal Control, The Floor, Rescue: Hi-Surf, Doc and Beat Shazam (with the first appearance from Jamie Foxx), as well as Tom Brady’s introduction to its sports team.

But it also found time to mention a new Tubi original movie – The QB Bad Boy and Me starring Resident Evil’s Siena Agudong and influencer Noah Beck, who literally couldn’t keep his shirt on.

“The Upfronts have clearly changed,” one TV boss told Deadline. Clearly.

OpenAI's big event: CTO Mira Murati announces GPT-4o, which gives ChatGPT a better voice and eyes

  • OpenAI's "Spring Update" revealed new updates to ChatGPT.
  • OpenAI CTO Mira Murati kicked off the event.
  • She announced GPT-4o, its next flagship AI model, with improved voice and vision capabilities.

Insider Today

OpenAI just took the wraps off a big new update to ChatGPT.

Cofounder and CEO Sam Altman had teased "new stuff" coming to ChatGPT and GPT-4 , the AI model that powers its chatbot, and told his followers to tune in Monday at 1 p.m. ET for its "Spring Update" to learn more.

Also ahead of time, Altman ruled that the event would reveal GPT-5 or a new OpenAI search engine, which is reportedly in the works. OpenAI is reportedly planning to eventually take on internet search giant Google with its own AI-powered search product.

But the big news on Monday was OpenAI's new flagship AI model, GPT-4o, which will be free to all users and "can reason across audio, vision, and text in real time." It was CTO Mira Murati who delivered the updates with no appearance on the livestream from Altman.

There were a ton of demos intended to demonstrate the real-time smarts of GPT-4o.

OpenAI researchers showed how the new ChatGPT can quickly translate speech and help with basic linear algebra using its visual capabilities. The use of the tech on school assignments has been a polarizing topic in education since it first launched.

OpenAI posted another example to X of how one can interact with the new ChatGPT bot. It resembled a video call, and it got pretty meta.

In the video, ChatGPT takes in the room around it, discerns it's a recording setup, figures it might have something to do with OpenAI since the user is wearing a hoodie, and then gets told that the announcement has to do with the AI — it is the AI. It reacts with a voice that sounds more emotive.

OpenAI also announced the desktop version of ChatGPT, and a new and improved user interface.

In addition to GPT-4o and ChatGPT, OpenAI's other products include its AI-powered image generator DALL-E , its unreleased text-to-video generator Sora , and its GPT app store.

You can catch up on our liveblog of the event below.

That’s a wrap! OpenAI concludes the event without an appearance from Altman.

OpenAI says text and image input for GPT-4o-powered ChatGPT is launching today. Meanwhile, voice and video options will drop in the coming weeks, the company said.

Although Altman didn't step in front of the camera, the CEO posted videos from the audience on X.

He also teases "more stuff to share soon."

GPT-4o can also break down charts

The new AI model can interact with code bases, the OpenAI execs say. The next demo shows it analyzing a chart from some data.

It's a plot of global temperatures. GPT-4o gives some takeaways from what it sees, and CTO Mira Murati asks about the Y axis, which the AI explains.

ChatGPT reads human emotions — with a stumble

presentation about the company

For the last live demo of the day, Zoph holds his phone up to his face and asks ChatGPT to tell him how he looks. Initially, it identifies him as a "wooden surface" — a reference to an earlier photo he had shared.

But after a second try, the model gives a better answer.

"It looks like you're feeling pretty happy and cheerful," ChatGPT says, noting the small smile on Zoph's face.

In one of the final tests, ChatGPT becomes a translator

presentation about the company

In response to a request from an X user, Murati speaks to ChatGPT in Italian.

In turn, the bot translates her query into English for Zoph and Chen.

"Mike, she wonders if whales could talk, what would they tell us?" she said in English after hearing Murati's Italian.

It's pretty impressive.

The video demo shows how it could help with math homework, including basic linear algebra

presentation about the company

OpenAI Research Lead Barret Zoph walks through an equation on a whiteboard (3x+1=4), and ChatGPT gives him hints as he finds the value of x — making it basically a real-time math tutor.

At the beginning, the bot jumped the gun.

"Whoops, I got too excited," it said after it tried to solve the math problem hadn't been uploaded yet.

But it then walked him through each step, recognizing his written work as he tried to solve the equation.

It was able to recognize math symbols, and even a heart.

OpenAI's first demo: Talking to GPT-4o

It's demo time!

The new bot has a voice that sounds like an American female, but no word yet if you can change it.

OpenAI Research Lead Mark Chen pulled out ChatGPT on his phone and asks for advice on giving a live presentation using Voice Mode.

"Mark, you're not a vacuum cleaner," it responds when he hyperventilates, appearing to perceive his nervousness. It then tells him to moderate his breathing.

Some big changes, you can interrupt the AI now, and there shouldn't be the usual 2 or 3-second delay with GPT-4o.

It can also detect emotion, according to OpenAI.

GPT-4o will have improved voice capabilities

presentation about the company

Murati emphasizes the necessity of safety with the real-time voice and audio capabilities of the new GPT-4o model.

She says OpenAI is "continuing our iterative deployment to bring all the capabilities to you."

Murati says the big news is a "new flagship model" called GPT-4o.

The new model is called GPT-4o, and Murati says that OpenAI is making a "huge step forward" with ease of use with the new model.

It's free for users, and "allows us to bring GPT-4 class intelligence to our free users," Murati says.

And we're off!

presentation about the company

The livestream began with CTO Mira Murati at OpenAI's offices.

OpenAI is going to be announcing 3 things today, she says. "That's it."

For those who want to watch live, you can view the whole event here.

OpenAI will be livestreaming its spring update, which kicks off in less than an hour.

Axel Springer, Business Insider's parent company, has a global deal to allow OpenAI to train its models on its media brands' reporting.

MORRISVILLE, N.C. , May 14, 2024 /PRNewswire/ -- REVIAN Inc., an aesthetic medical technology company using precise wavelengths of LED light to rejuvenate hair and skin, announced an upcoming presentation at the 2024 Society for Investigative Dermatology Annual Meeting being held in Dallas on May 15-18, 2024 . Dr. Jacob Kocher will deliver a poster presentation of data illustrating that Revian's patented combination of wavelengths reduces Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) production by 74%, a 95% improvement over industry standard finasteride, which reduced DHT production by 38%, at 24 hours post treatment, in the same in vitro experiment. DHT plays an important causative role in pattern hair loss  (androgenic alopecia or pattern baldness).

Presentation Details:

Poster Title:  Inhibition of dihydrotestosterone (DHT) formation via dual wavelength orange-red light production of nitric oxide Category:  Translational Studies and Early Preclinical to Clinical Session:  Poster only Session Date and Time:  May 17 th , 4:00-6:00 PM Location:  Trinity Exhibit Hall, Hilton Anatole, Dallas

"These tests prove Revian's proprietary combination of 620 nm and 660 nm wavelengths block DHT production at a greater rate than the industry standard Finasteride. This is a major breakthrough for hair loss research." stated John Oakley, Chief Executive Officer of Revian. "Having an alternative to a systemic drug with serious side effects is a massive improvement to the available treatment options for anyone seeking a more healthy solution to stopping hair loss."

About the Revian Red Hair Growth System The REVIAN RED System is an FDA cleared, lightweight wireless cap controlled by a mobile App that functions to provide a hair loss treatment for men and women using precision LED light. The device's patented dual wavelength LED technology provides broader scalp coverage and better skin penetration, producing the best clinical trial performance of any hair rejuvenation treatment available on the market. REVIAN RED uses a patented combination of two wavelengths of light to stimulate the production and release of nitric oxide, which is proven to increase local blood flow, reduce inflammation, and inhibit DHT production. This provides the right environment for new hair growth. REVIAN RED's cleared indication for use is the treatment of androgenetic alopecia, to promote hair growth in males who have Norwood - Hamilton classifications of IIa-V patterns of hair loss and to treat androgenetic alopecia and to promote hair growth in females who have Ludwig-Savin Scale I-1 to II-4, II1, II2 or frontal patterns of hair loss; both with Fitzpatrick Skin Types I-IV.

Inside the warner bros. discovery upfront: ‘superman’ for sale.

The company delivered the most advertiser-friendly presentation of the week, if you ignore Conan O'Brien dramatically spitting out a slice of Papa John's Shaq-a-Roni Pizza.

Shaquile O'Neal and Conan O'Brien speak onstage during Warner Bros. Discovery Upfront 2024 on May 15, 2024 in New York City.

Upfront week’s reliance on films isn’t actually new but it is increasingly bizarre, as evidenced by the top of Wednesday morning’s Warner Bros. Discovery presentation kicking off with sizzle that prioritized features Furiosa, Dune: Part Two and Wonka — when new episodes of the HBO and Max’s flagship Game of Thrones spinoff, House of the Dragon , are just weeks away.

After two days where advertising was essentially only spoken of as a concept, Warner Bros. Discovery hammered the Theater at Madison Square Garden crowd with example after example of how various brands have found their way under the vast programming umbrella. State Farm partnered with NBA All-Star Weekend and one of Guy Fieri’s umpteen Food Network shows. GMC’s Sierra pick-up truck was somehow involved in the recent season of HBO’s True Detective . Paint company Sherwin Williams apparently got in on the action for the most recent Shark Week . It was almost pandering, but isn’t that what we’re all in town for?

There were also a great many TV series on display. Casey Bloys, chair and CEO, HBO and Max Content, eventually did hype the hell out of House of the Dragon — albeit 15 minutes in — with a trailer for the coming season. There was also a notable emphasis on “the next 18 months” of programming, as some of the biggest highlights on the roster won’t be arriving this year. 2025 additions include second Game of Thrones spinoff A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms , season two of runaway hit The Last of Us and season three of The White Lotus .

One more 2025 addition mentioned was the third cycle of And Just Like That . And, just as she has in the past, Sex and the City star Sarah Jessica Parker commanded an outsized response from the room. During a presentation where the marquee cameos were Mindy Kaling, Anderson Cooper, Charles Barkley and Hacks star Hannah Einbinder, Parker stepping out on stage inspired literal squeals of approval. She’s clearly still got it.

Deviating from entertainment programming, the most hype was bestowed upon recent ID documentary series Quiet on Set . Before touting the 29 million viewers and 1 billion minutes viewed across platforms, US Networks chair and CEO Kathleen Finch told the room that their company “remains believers in the power of linear.”

That certainly hasn’t been the dominant opinion this week, possibly best articulated on Tuesday night when Jimmy Kimmel called out Disney boss Bob Iger for trying to sell ABC and, insult to injury, not finding any interested buyer.

Speaking of traditional TV, recently-installed CNN CEO Mark Thompson made a very compelling pitch for his vision of the news network. “We’re going to double down,” he said. “In a world full of noisy options, CNN should stand for the facts. And we don’t believe news is just politics.”

Examples of advertising may have kept coming back (and back and back) but did at least graciously devolve into silliness. Conan O’Brien and Shaquille O’Neal closed out the presentation with a list of sponsorship spoofs for the advertiser-friendly Inside the NBA analyst. That was, of course, after O’Brien took a bite of one very real O’Neal tie-in, a slice of Papa John’s Shaq-a-Roni Pizza, and promptly spat it out on the floor. O’Neal is on the chain’s board of directors, so the stunt shouldn’t hurt Warner Bros. Discovery’s rapport with the company’s ad team.
