Republic Day 2022 Speech: Read this heartfelt and patriotic speech for my fellow countrymen, and 26 January Speech writing tips for students

Republic day 2022 speech in english: here is a simple yet heartfelt republic day 2022 speech from us. hope you like it..

republic speech in english 2022

Republic day is a monumental day for India, a country that was wrought by invasion and colonialism. On January 26, 1950, the sub-continent came to be recognized as a Republic – a nation that is a government ruled by the people or their elected representatives. On this day, India also adopted its Constitution which today, shapes the way we function as a country. So, for true and patriotic Indians, today is a matter of immense pride, respect, and love towards the country.

While delivering a speech on Republic Day 2022, the orator needs to capture the essence and importance of this event. To do so, he/she needs to know the reasons for the celebration and significance of this day, the three years of effort to create the constitution, and of course, the long journey to independence. Only then will it be a speech rather than just words written on a piece of paper.

Republic Day 2022 Speech

Here is a simple yet heartfelt Republic Day 2022 speech from us. Hope you like it.

Dear friends, and proud countrymen!

Thank you so much for giving me this opportunity to speak my heart, on this joyous occassion of Republic Day.

Ganatantra Diwas! The name itself fills my heart with pride and joy!

My Bengali friends call it Projatontro Diwas. In Malayalam, we call it Rippablik Dinam. And in Telugu we fondly refer to it as Gabatantra Dinotsavam. I am sure you too have a lovely name for this day in your own language.

But behind this name, is years of struggles of our forefathers and foremothers.

Why do we celebrate Republic Day? After nearly 3 years of effort and countless discussions, the Drafting committee chaired by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar created the Constitution. Developed countries across the globe had questioned the ability of such an intensely diverse country to come up with a constitution. However, despite the number of challenges, Indians came out victorious. The constitution was adopted on November 26, 1949, and came into effect two months later, on January 26, 1950.

Republic Day is a reminder of how our freedom fighters sacrificed their lives for an independent future – free from British colonialism and imperialism. This day stands as the beginning of Purn Swaraj or Complete Independence. It is because of their relentless effort that today, we enjoy rights such as the right to equality, right to freedom, right against exploitation, cultural and educational rights, and many more.

India is a land of several religions, castes, dialects, languages, customs, and traditions. The country has a baffling amount of diversity, immeasurable and in abundance. Despite these differences, a nation like India has not only survived so long but also thrived. Republic Day is also a reminder of successfully showcasing unity in diversity.

So, while paying homage to all those leaders who created an independent and sovereign India, we need to reaffirm our commitment to equality, justice, and fraternity while serving our nation, as a responsible citizenry.

Let us enjoy the wonderful performances by children, jhankis, and the Republic Day Parade today.

And then I hope that tomorrow, and on all days that we awaken in this beautiful land, we remember the sacrifices made by those before us. And do something everyday to ensure that when they look down upon us from heaven, they feel as proud of us, as we are of them.

Republic Day Speech Samples 2022

Republic Day is an annual public holiday in India that takes place on January 26th. It is a national holiday commemorating the adoption of India’s constitution on January 26, 1950. It has been commemorated since 1949, but it was only in 2005 that it was formally proclaimed as a national holiday.

India’s Republic Day celebrations are marked by enormous pomp and show. Every year on January 26th, the national flag is raised on all government buildings throughout the country. The day is significant since it is the day our own Constitution became effective, transforming our country into a secular democratic republic. India’s Republic Day carries a powerful message for us. The unflinching efforts of our country’s martyrs and liberation warriors are solemnly honoured on this anniversary. We also pay tribute on Republic Day to those outstanding individuals who developed the fundamental ideas inherent in the Indian constitution, which came into force on 26th January 1950. Republic Day provides an opportunity for citizens to examine what has been accomplished and what remains to be accomplished. Additionally, it stimulates youngsters to work toward the realisation of ideas for a progressive India. Each year, we observe three national holidays: Independence Day on August 15th, Gandhi Jayanti on October 2nd, and Republic Day on January 26th. Among these national festivities, we commemorate Republic Day with a greater zeal than the other two. The 26th of January marks the day of “Purna swaraj” (full independence), which was announced on 31st December 1929 at the historic Lahore Session of the Indian National Congress. On the basis of a resolution made by the Lahore Session, our country’s nationalists initially honoured 26th January 1930 as India’s Independence Day. Indeed, on 15 August 1947, India declared independence from the British Dominion. Following that, in accordance with a comprehensive Draft created by the Constituent Assembly’s Drafting Committee under the chairmanship of Dr. B.R. Ambdekar, the day 26th January 1950 has been designated as the Indian Constitution’s memory day. Thus, the 26th January of each year is internationally recognised as India’s Republic Day. This Day is fervently commemorated across the country as India’s major national festival. Thus, Republic Day serves as a permanent reminder of the day of “Purna Swaraj” and the implementation date of the Indian Constitution.

This is a day for everyone to come together and celebrate and honour our nation and sovereignty. This is a day to reflect on the immense efforts and sacrifices made by millions of freedom warriors whose blood and sweat secured our independence and established our Republic. This is, above all, a day to celebrate our republican beliefs.

Tip : To present an effective speech, you must keep several key factors in mind, including the following: Always begin by thanking your colleagues and wishing them a happy Republic Day. Prior to delivering a speech, it is necessary to grasp the significance of this day. You must have a thorough understanding of why Republic Day is significant and why it is celebrated. Therefore, read the following speeches and draw <strong>(to draw) conclusions</strong><br/><strong>When you found the answer to a problem or question – especially when you this answer has a more general meaning or importance. But if you are too quick to make up your mind about a situation - without considering all the evidence - people will say you are jumping to conclusions!</strong><br/> <strong>I’ve drawn the following conclusions from the data.</strong><br/> " data-gt-translate-attributes='[{"attribute":"data-cmtooltip", "format":"html"}]' tabindex=0 role=link>draw inspiration from them.

Republic Day Speech #1

As we all know, India attained independence on 15th August 1947 but remained a British dominion until 26th January 1950, when the Constituent Assembly enacted the Indian Constitution, thereby establishing India as a fully independent, democratic, and republican nation.

Pandit Sri Vijayalakshmi India’s constitution guarantees everyone the right to vote for their government.

Our independence fighters made numerous sacrifices. Numerous individuals have been killed as a result of it. They could easily have rested their guards and savoured the fruits of independence; instead, they set about the laborious and agonising task of drafting an Indian Constitution. Since they possessed a prophetic vision, they envisioned an India in which there is no discrimination against citizens based on caste, religion, or ethnic origin; in which all citizens, regardless of region or gender, have equal opportunity; and in which citizens have the freedom of religion, expression, and education. At its heart was the concept of a government of the people, for the people, and by the people, with ultimate power resting with the Indian people. The Constitution of India was drafted with this aim in mind by noble souls.

People are the genuine stakeholders and cornerstones of the Republic of India. Each of us, in our own way, is a pillar of the Republic of India. Soldiers who defend the Republic of India are pillars; mothers nurture the Republic’s pillars; fathers who look after the Republic’s needs; doctors, engineers, and lawyers who tend to our Republic in their own unique ways; educators who instil good values in our Republic; officers who maintain law and order or perform their public duties for the Republic; ministers and elected representatives who formulate the Republic’s policies; and even the sweeper who keeps our republic clean.

A disciplined and moral nation is founded on the foundation of disciplined and moral institutions. Institutions that are mindful of their fraternal ties to other institutions. Institutions that operate with integrity, discipline, and boundaries, without sacrificing their ability to excel. Institutions are always more significant than the individuals residing within them. And institutions in which the holders and members make every effort to live up to the office they hold as public trustees.

Only when its citizens are happy and content can a nation develop and grow. We need rights, powers, equal opportunities, justice, liberty, and fraternity to be happy. These rights are guaranteed by India’s Constitution, the establishment of which we commemorate on Republic Day.

Celebrate Republic Day with a sense of patriotism in your heart and actions as well. Recognize that we are all equal regardless of our caste, creed, religion, gender, ethnic origin, spoken language, or economic status. Imbue our children with the same values. Bear in mind that they, too, are pillars of the Republic of India and the recipients of the Nation’s heritage in the future.

Republic Day Speech #2

I extend my greetings to everyone on the eve of our country’s 73rd Republic Day. This is a significant day for all Indians. Today, when a few fellow Indians express concern about the possibility of losing the fundamental liberties guaranteed by the constitution, this day takes on further significance. We have been celebrating republic day as a national festival since childhood, but as we get older, we realise the significance of this day.

Republic Day is observed on January 26th. On this date in 1950, India’s constitution became effective. Our constitution vests us with a few rights and also with some responsibilities. We live in a democratic nation. Within society, we are divided by caste, religion, and a variety of other factors, yet on a larger scale, we are all Indians. The beauty of our country is that we speak different languages and have issues and disagreements, yet when it comes to national festivities, we all come together as one.

When the arms forces’ helicopters soar over the parade grounds and shower the crowd with rose petals, everyone feels special.

Republic Day Speech #3

On this auspicious and wonderful occasion of our 73rd Republic Day, it brings me enormous pleasure to greet and congratulate each and everyone of you. On this day seventy-three years ago, the Indian people received their own Constitution, establishing the country as an independent democratic republic. As you are all aware, the document’s development was a mammoth <em><strong>Mammoth</strong></em> - large animal now extinct, believed to be the ancestor of the elephant.<br/> " data-gt-translate-attributes='[{"attribute":"data-cmtooltip", "format":"html"}]' tabindex=0 role=link>mammoth undertaking, establishing a structure of national governance that has survived the test of time. It establishes the basis for fundamental rights, state policy directives, and the fundamental duties of all citizens. Additionally, our Constitution aspires to provide justice, liberty, and equality for all citizens. Additionally, we had earnestly resolved to defend our great nation’s unity and integrity. As a charter of rights and as a guide to action, it is a document that all of us can be proud of.

I would also like to mention that, while basic rights are enshrined in the constitution as our inalienable rights, we must pay attention to the listed fundamental duties. These, in my opinion, should have the biggest impact on our conduct and activities as citizens and members of this great nation. Particularly noteworthy are the clauses stating that we should cultivate a scientific temper, humanism, and an inquiry and reform spirit, as well as strive for excellence in all spheres of individual and collective activity, in order for the nation to continually advance to new heights of endeavour and achievement.

India is a highly democratic and just country in which each individual is permitted to approve the leader who would rule the country. While there have been numerous advancements to date, there have also been a few setbacks, such as unemployment, illiteracy, pollution, and poverty. All we can do today is commit to work together as citizens of this country to resolve <table width="100%"><tbody><tr><td><strong style="font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit;">to resolve / a resolution</strong><br/><strong>When you resolve a problem, it means that you find the answer and is commonly used when we’re talking about problems between people.  It’s often used with the words ‘dispute’, ‘crisis’ and ‘differences’ and is quite common in personnel management, since one of the roles of human resources is to help people work positively in teams. The word ‘resolve’ is also used when the situation is made more clear – in other words, ‘the ambiguity has been resolved’. The noun is ‘resolution’. So ‘the resolution of a conflict’ is an agreement which ends the disagreement or fighting. The word ‘resolution’ is also used for decisions made by organisations such as the United Nations that some actions need to be taken to resolve some problem.</strong><strong style="font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit;">The partners need to resolve their differences and get on with running the business.</strong></td></tr></tbody></table> " data-gt-translate-attributes='[{"attribute":"data-cmtooltip", "format":"html"}]' tabindex=0 role=link>resolve these types of challenges in order to make our country one of the best in the world.

January 14, 2024 by Sandeep

Republic Day Speech: Every year, 26th January is celebrated as Republic Day in India. It is a historic day when the constitution of India officially came into force, and national celebrations take place. India became an independent republic and a sovereign democratic on 26th January 1950. India is one of the biggest democracies in the world. Dr. B R Ambedkar chaired and drafted the Constitution Drafting Committee, and these doctrines are accepted as the supreme law of India.

Below we have provided Republic Day Speech 2024 in English, written in easy and simple words for classes 7, 8, 9, and 10.

This 26 January speech is helpful for students who are participating in a speech writing competition.

Republic Day Speech in English

Good morning all. On the eve of our 74th Republic Day , I would like to express my warm greetings to all of you. In 1950, we embarked on a journey as a republic nation on 26th January, affirming to practice and follow the principles laid down by our constitution. It emphasized democracy, secularity, equality and provided a framework for three organs-Legislative, judiciary, and executive.

We are now in the third decade of the twenty-first century, where the new generation witnesses the dawn of advanced discoveries and innovation. Every person is willingly participating in the national discourse and looking forward to the growth of the nation. The fundamentals laid down by the constitution strengthens our country, turning it into a robust democracy. By adhering to the rules and law, we are adding meaning to our celebration of independence.

On Republic day, President distributes civilian awards every year. These awards are given based on categories. Republic Day parade is organized by the military of defence in New Delhi. This show is the main attraction of the event and lasts for three days. It showcases India’s cultural and social heritage. Nine to Twelve different regiments of army, navy, and air force march past in all their finery and decorations.

The President unfurls the flag and addresses the nation with a motivational speech. Paramilitary forces and police forces also participate in the event. Furthermore, a tribute is paid to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for independence. In schools and colleges, students dress up in different traditional costumes representing each state and perform a dance, song, or a speech from the respective region.

Youth is the nation’s bright future; therefore, it is mandatory to act responsibly and preserve national heritage. India is our motherland, and hence it is necessary to work in its interest to make it shine. Everyone should possess the virtue of patriotism. By abiding by the rights and duties written in the constitution, one ensures harmony and peace in society. The spirit of brotherhood, fraternity, and support for each other should be paramount.

The famous saying that a pen is mightier than a sword is essential to fulfilling our core with non-violence and equal justice. The national holidays should not be taken for granted, but its significance needs to be promoted across states to create awareness and disseminate patriotism.

I want to conclude my speech by thanking everyone who honoured this program with their attendance. Lastly, I would like to quote Mahatma Gandhi , who rightly stated that be the change you wish to see. It implies that we must involve and bring change for a vibrant future and not just wait for the government to initiate.

Happy Republic Day!

Short Speech on Republic Day 200 Words

Below we have provided a short speech on Republic Day, suitable for kids and class 3, 4, 5, and 6 school students.

Good morning teachers, and my dear friends. It is a privilege to rise in front of you and deliver a speech on Republic day.

On the 74th Republic Day, we honour the remarkable contribution of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar and other members of the assembly who drafted and brought it into force. The work and vision crafted in it sync with our cultural roots and promises every citizen equality of rights and fundamental duties. The constitution is a rule-book divided into various articles making it the most extended structure in the world.

It made the nation secular, sovereign, and democratic. The army, military, and forces participate in the parade to manifest the culture and tradition of our country. We hoist the flag by singing our National anthem written by our great poet Rabindranath Tagore. Sweets and snacks get distributed. A patriotic feeling and enthusiasm spread across the nation.

From kids to adults, every person is seen wearing tricolour outfits. We must abide by our constitution and maintain peace. We should never take our independence for granted and collectively work towards the betterment of our country. The sacrifices and struggles of our freedom fighters should not be confined to these national holidays but throughout our life. As rightly quoted by our former President, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, “This is a country of colours and faith in spirituals.”

Let this Republic Day remind us of our leaders’ work and life to a safe and happy life. Finally, I would like to say that I am proud of my country and feels honoured to be a part of this gentry. Also, I would like to thank my teacher for placing trust in me and giving me a chance to speak on this occasion.

Happy Republic Day to all.

A long speech on republic day of 500 words and a short speech on republic day of 300 words is given below.

Happy Republic Day Speech 2024

Good morning to everyone who is present over here on the prosperous occasion of 26 January Republic Day. A Happy Republic Day is celebrated every year on the 26th of January. This year India will celebrate its 75th Republic Day 2024 .

Why do we celebrate Republic Day? India Republic day is celebrated to remember the historic moment when our nation became an independent republic country. As we all know that India got its independence on 15th August 1947 and the country didn’t have its own constitution, instead India was governed by the laws implemented by the British. However after many deliberations and amendments, a committee headed by Dr. B.R Ambedkar submitted a draft of the Indian constitution, which was adopted on 26th November 1949 and officially came into effect on 26 January 1950.

On the same day, Dr Rajendra Prasad also began his term as the first President of India. And the Constituent Assembly became the Parliament of India under provisions of the new Constitution.

Ever since Independence, the main celebration of Happy Republic Day has been held at the national capital, New Delhi at the Rajpath in the presence of the President, Prime minister, and other high-ranking officials of India.

As a tribute to India, on Republic Day ceremonial parades take place at the Rajpath. The celebration begins from the gates of Rashtrapati Bhavan followed by Raisina hill on the Rajpath past the Indian gate is the main attraction on Happy Republic Day. After the ceremonial parade, there is a presence of various dignitaries like the President, Prime minister, and other higher government officials at the Rajpath.

Every year as a part of celebrations, India has been hosting guests of honour, that could be the head of the state or government of other countries, for the 26 January Republic Day celebration at the capital. This has been the case since 1950, for example on 26 January 2021, the former president of the united states of America Barack Obama was the guest of honour on 26 January Republic Day. Sadly due to the COVID outbreak, there wasn’t any guest of honour for the 72nd Republic Day celebration. In 2024, India will be honored to host France's President Emmanuel Macron as the chief guest for a Happy  Republic Day celebrations, fostering diplomatic ties and cultural exchange between the two nations.

The flag hoisting ceremony at the Rajpath in the national capital takes place mostly at 8:00 AM, which is followed by a Republic day speech by the President and a Republic Day parade.

26 January Republic Day March is considered to be an eye-catching element of the festival and it showcases Indian cultural and social heritage. It also showcases the Indian Defence Capability. Nine to twelve different regiments of the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force, accompanied by their bands, march in all their official decorations. The President of India, who is the Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Armed Forces, takes the salute.

On this prestigious occasion the heroes of our country, the soldiers are not forgotten. Prestigious awards will be given away to the martyrs and the heroes who have dedicated their lives to protect the country at any cost.

India Republic day is celebrated in every school, college, and office with great enthusiasm and energy. In schools, various competitions are held which include dancing, singing, and giving a Happy Republic Day speech.

But beyond it all, the constitution declares that India is a sovereign, socialist, secular, and democratic republic. It assures its citizens’ justice, equality, liberty, and fraternity. It also gives us our rights and duties as citizens. On this Happy Republic Day 2024, I hope that no matter who we are, rich or poor, a powerful politician or a regular citizen, we continue to respect these basic principles and values given to us by our amazing constitution. So that, as we move forward and continue to build this nation, we do not leave behind the foundation on which our country is built.

I want to end this speech by saying that India is a democratic country. The citizens living in a democratic country enjoy the privilege to elect their leader to lead the country.

Although we have seen a lot of economic improvements and success as a country, we still have many hurdles in our paths, such as poverty, unemployment, and pollution. It is our duty as citizens to face these challenges and come out stronger on the other side.

Now we know why do we celebrate Republic Day. So one thing we all can do today is to promise each other that we will become a better version of ourselves so that we could contribute to solving all these problems and making our nation a better place. Thank you, Happy Republic Day and Jai Hind.

New Delhi: President Ram Nath Kovind on Tuesday addressed the nation on the occasion of 73rd Republic Day of India. In his address, which was aired by All India Radio (AIR) and Doordarshan, President said that the diversity and vibrancy of our democracy are appreciated worldwide.

"It's this spirit of unity and of being one nation that's celebrated every year as Republic Day. This year's celebrations may be muted due to pandemic but the spirit is as strong as ever," President Kovind said in his opening remarks.

"Today, our soldiers and security personnel are carrying forward the legacy of patriotism. Our armed forces and policemen keep vigil day and night to protect the country's borders and maintain internal order so that all other countrymen can sleep peacefully," President Ram Nath Kovind said.

On this occasion, let us also remember the great freedom fighters who showed incomparable courage in their pursuit of the dream of Swaraj and fired up the people to fight for it. — President of India (@rashtrapatibhvn) January 25, 2022

The President further said that it is the national responsibility of Indians to follow Covid protocols.

"We have fought against Covid-19 by following social distancing norms together. Doctors and health care workers have put their own lives at risk to save Covid patients," President Kovind said.

"By fulfilling the fundamental duty of rendering national service when called upon to do so, crores of our people have transformed the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and the COVID vaccination drive into mass movements," he said.

President Kovind also said that the pandemic is still widespread and we must remain alert and not let our guard down, adding that the precautions we have taken till now have to be continued.

In the fight against the COVID pandemic, it has now become a sacred national duty of every citizen to follow the precautions suggested by our scientists and experts. We have to discharge this duty till the crisis is behind us. — President of India (@rashtrapatibhvn) January 25, 2022

Furthermore, President also said that on this occasion, let us also remember the great freedom fighters who showed incomparable courage in their pursuit of the dream of Swaraj and fired up the people to fight for it.

This year, Republic Day celebrations will be a low-key affair in the view of ongoing third wave of Coronavirus pandemic fueled by Omicron variant. The government has decided to curtail number of people, who will attend the event celebrated at India Gate in New Delhi.

The parade at Rajpath will start at 1030 hrs, instead of the earlier timing of 1000 hrs, to provide better visibility to the parade and flypast.

Only double vaccinated adults/one dose vaccinated children of 15 years and above will be allowed entry at the parade. Children below 15 years of age will not be permitted.

Special arrangements have been made to give opportunity to those segments of society which usually do not get to watch the parade. Some sections of auto-rickshaw drivers, construction workers, safai karamcharis and frontline health workers will be invited to watch the Republic Day Parade as well as the 'Beating Retreat' ceremony.

The Republic Day ceremony will commence with Prime Minister Narendra Modi visiting the National War Memorial, where he will lead the nation in paying tribute to the fallen heroes by laying a wreath.

As per tradition, the national flag will be unfurled followed by the national anthem with a booming 21-gun salute. The parade will commence with President Kovind taking the salute.

We can take guidance, cooperation, and advice in certain matters but not patronage and diction in all the matters. We are not children but a mature nation with the wisdom of 6000 years behind us.

Republic Day Speech for Kids in English

To all, a very happy Republic Day! My name is Anusha, and I am a student in class 4. I’d like to speak a few words about our National Festival today. Every year on January 26th, Republic Day is commemorated, as our constitution was ratified on this date years ago. Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, a Bharat Ratna, wrote it. The Indian Constitution is a vital part of our lives as Indian citizens. The administration of our country is based on its fundamentals.

26th January is, like other festivals, celebrated with great zeal and joy across India. On 26th January, the flag is hoisted and the National Anthem is sung by everyone. Great Indian leaders who fought for India’s independence are remembered. Songs about patriotism are played and sung.

Speech on Republic Day 2022

We have gathered here to commemorate India’s 73rd Republic Day. On this auspicious day, I extend my greetings to all of our compatriots and pray for our country’s prosperity and overall development. It is a great honour for me to be able to speak on this occasion.

We gained our independence on August 15, 1947, as you are all aware. However, on January 26, 1950, our constitution was ratified, and we became a republic. Dr. B.R. Ambedkar drafted our nation’s constitution. Dr. Rajendra Prasad was elected as India’s first President, and the country’s first general elections were held in 1952.

Our country has changed dramatically over the last 65 years. The people gained control of the country, and India became a democratic country. There have been some stumbling blocks along the way, as well as a lot of progress.

Unemployment and corruption have exploded in recent years. We should make a commitment to solving these issues so that our country can become the best place to live on the planet.

Thank you very much.

Tips for Republic Day Speech 2022

Take a look at a few pointers for preparing your child’s speech.

Because this is a speech for children, keep it simple. Use simple words and sentences as much as possible. In the first paragraph, give a brief overview and its significance. Long speeches would be exhausting for children. For them, keep it short and simple.

Even if you know all the basics, it’s a good idea to do some internet research on the topic and related topics. You’ll also find some suggestions for how to celebrate the day in a unique and different way. Gather important information before preparing your speech. You can include historical facts as well as mention the sacrifices made by freedom fighters.

Also Read: Quiz on Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose for Kids: Amazing Facts on Subhash Chandra Bose

It must be prepared with the time limit in mind. As a result, you’ll need to know what time the speaker will be speaking so you can plan the length of the speech. After all, no speech can be abruptly ended.

Whether you are giving the speech to yourself or your child, it is critical that you practise it. Memorise it because speaking up spontaneously is the best way to deliver the speech.

Keep the Format Intact

It must adhere to a specific format. You must decide on the format or style of your speech based on the type of audience, location, and age of the speaker. Normally, it would be best to divide the speech into three parts.

The first section must include greetings for the special day, as well as an explanation of what it is and why we celebrate it. The second section should be about discussing India’s current state, and the third section can be about how you envision India in the future. However, don’t forget to thank your audience at the end of your presentation.

The national holiday is just around the corner, and children and students alike are looking forward to it. On this special day, devoted melodies reverberate throughout the city, and each child flutters a small national flag to commemorate the occasion. Various schools organise various social events in order to make the occasion memorable.

This day serves as a reminder of the value of all of our freedom fighters, as well as their sacrifices and devotion to the country. As a result, on this day, we devote our entire respect and devotion to them. Hopefully, this article gave you ideas for your speech. Happy Republic Day!

Republic Day Speech

Ladies and gentlemen, respected teachers, and dear fellow students,

Today, as we gather to celebrate India’s Republic Day , we honor the principles that guide our nation towards progress, unity, and democracy. On this historic day, January 26th, we commemorate the adoption of our Constitution in 1950, marking the transition to a sovereign republic.

India’s Republic Day is not merely a symbolic event; it is a testament to our commitment to justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity. Our Constitution, crafted by visionary leaders, reflects the dreams and aspirations of a diverse nation. Dr. B.R. Ambedkar , the architect of our Constitution, envisioned a just and equal society. It is a living document that empowers us all and binds us together in the shared pursuit of a brighter future.

As we witness the grand parade and cultural displays, let us reflect on the journey that has brought us here—a journey marked by sacrifices, struggles, and triumphs. Today is an opportunity to celebrate our rich cultural tapestry and the spirit of unity in diversity that defines us as a nation.

Let us also acknowledge the challenges ahead and renew our collective dedication to building a more inclusive, progressive, and harmonious India. May the ideals of our Constitution continue to guide us in our quest for a just and equitable society.

Happy Republic Day to one and all! Jai Hind!

Republic Day Short Speech Sample

Greetings to everyone in attendance on this auspicious day. We are all gathered here to commemorate our nation's 72nd Republic Day today. It is my duty and honor to speak on republic day. Every year on January 26, India celebrates Republic Day, which is special in Indian history. Every year, we celebrate the national event with great joy, happiness, and pride in order to make it memorable.

As we all know, the Indian constitution took effect on January 26, 1950, and ever since, the Indian people have celebrated that day as our nation's Republic Day. Although India gained independence on August 15, 1947, there was no national constitution at the time. But after much deliberation and thought, a committee led by Dr BR Ambedkar presented a draught of the Indian constitution, which was adopted on November 26, 1949, and took effect on January 26, 1950.

I just want to share a few interesting facts about the Indian constitution quickly. Do you know that the Indian Constitution, which has 444 articles divided into 22 parts, 12 schedules, 118 amendments, and 146,385 words in its English-language version, is the longest written constitution of any sovereign state in the world? The Assembly received a draught constitution from the committee in November 1947, but it took more than two months to receive the finishing touches amid discussions and amendments. The process was finally finished on November 26, 1949, when the Constitution was approved by the Constituent Assembly. Prem Behari Narain Raizda was the calligrapher who created the work in the book. It was published by Dehra Dun, photolithographed at the Survey of India Offices, and illuminated by Nandalal Bose and other artists. It is still kept in helium-filled cases in the parliament building's library. Additionally, the Indian Constitution declares nine fundamental rights to be everyone's fundamental human rights.

Respected Principal, Teachers, and all my dear friends.

I'm here in front of you right now to speak on Republic Day. I'd like to wish everyone in attendance a happy republic day before continuing. When my class teacher informed me a few days ago that you have been chosen to give a speech on January 26th, I was absolutely astonished. I have never given a speech before in my school career, so I am both excited and a little nervous.

As you are all aware, we are gathered here today to celebrate Republic Day, also known as "Gantantra Divas," and as you are also aware, our complete constitution was ratified on this day in 1950. However, Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar, who is well-known as the father of the Indian Constitution and one of the most influential figures in modern India at the time, presided over its adoption on November 26, 1949.

It should go without saying that our country's transformation into a republic nation was made possible by the efforts of all of our leaders at the time. The happiness of celebrating this day is completely incomprehensible. I feel incredibly proud to talk about our leaders, whose unwavering efforts laid the groundwork for our Republic Country. the individuals who fought against all odds to enact our nation's own constitution. The celebration of today serves as a reminder that we appreciate their work and will never forget it. On this special day, I also want to honor the courageous soldiers who have over the years defended our Republic Country against various threats.

As we start the celebration of this day, our hearts are overflowing with patriotism and pure love for our country. I just hope that in the years to come, this love for our country will only grow. We all continue to make contributions to our country's improvement and work together to address all of its issues. I just want to say that I am incredibly proud to be a citizen of our nation to wrap up my speech. I hope that everyone in our country continues to abide by the rules set forth in our constitution and preserves the integrity of this republican nation. Thank you!

Republic Day Long Speech Sample

Good Morning, on the auspicious occasion of Indian Republic Day, we have gathered here. India is commemorating its 74th Republic Day this year. I feel a great sense of pride and gratitude for everything our country has accomplished as we come together to celebrate the Republic Day of our country. On this day, we honour the struggles and sacrifices made by the people who fought for our country's independence and sovereignty.

The Indian Constitution, which took effect on this day in 1950, is evidence of the democratic, justice, libertarian, and egalitarian principles that have governed our country since its inception. It provides a framework for the government's transparent and accountable operation and ensures that certain fundamental rights are guaranteed to all of its citizens.

India has been hosting special guests every year as part of celebrations, including the head of state or the governments of other nations for the republic day celebration in the nation's capital. Since 1950, this has been a tradition for the celebration. For instance, on January 26, 2015, former US President Barack Obama attended Republic Day as a special guest. And for the 74th Republic Day celebration, Egypt's President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi will be the special guest.

The President delivers a speech on Republic Day at 8 a.m., and then the flag-hoisting ceremony at the Rajpath in the nation's capital is followed by a parade. The Republic Day March is regarded as a striking feature of the celebration and it highlights Indian cultural and social heritage. Additionally, it displays India's defence capabilities. The Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force's nine to twelve different regiments march while wearing all of their official regalia. The salute is accepted by the Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Armed Forces, the President of India.

The heroes of our nation, the soldiers, are remembered on this prestigious occasion. Different Gallantry awards and recognitions are presented to the  Martyrs and heroes who dedicated their lives to protecting the motherland.

Happy Sunshine to all the dignitaries, chief guests,s and my dear fellow mates! Every year on January 26, India celebrates Republic Day with great fervor and pride. It marks the anniversary of the adoption of our constitution. We became a sovereign, secular, socialist, and democratic republic on January 26, 1950, nearly three years after gaining our independence.

On August 15, 1947, we declared our independence from British rule, but our nation was still without a written constitution. In addition, India lacked the specialists and political influence necessary to ensure the efficient operation of state affairs. Up until that point, the 1935 Government of India Act, which was more inclined toward colonial rule, had essentially been modified in order to govern. As a result, it was imperative to create a comprehensive constitution that would represent everything India stands for.

Additionally, this day also saw the start of the Indian Parliament's first session. Dr. Rajendra Prasad, India's first President, also took the oath of office on January 26. Because it signifies the end of British rule and the establishment of India as a Republic State, this day is crucial.

Every year on January 26, Indians celebrate with great fervour. Irrespective of sex, caste, religion, and other things whole nation comes together to celebrate this joyous day. It exemplifies how diverse our nation is in real life. India's capital city, New Delhi, observes the holiday with a Republic Day Parade that displays both the military might and cultural diversity of our nation.

These parades are held in numerous cities, and many schools participate in them. It is enjoyable to see the youngsters and experts work so hard. One can be proud of their country when one graces the parade. On this day, we hoist the national flag. The national anthem is played by the military band in New Delhi following a 21-gun salute after the President of India hoists the flag. It is a day to honour the spirit of freedom and support India's future ascent to greater heights.

Taking note of all that is written above, let's work together to build India of our desires. someone who really needs help this Christmas. With Faith in mind and pride in Soul, a very Happy Republic Day 2024!

Good Morning, Ladies and Gentlemen; first of all, I wish you a very Happy Republic Day. It is an important day for all the Indians. Today, when a few fellow Indians talk about the fear of losing basic rights that the constitution has given us, this day becomes more important. Although we have celebrated Republic Day as a national festival since our childhood, we understand the real importance of this day when we grow up.

Gantantra Diwas is celebrated on 26 th January every year. On this day in 1950, the Constitution of India came into effect. Our constitution gives us various rights and responsibilities, too. We live in a democratic country where people enjoy their fundamental rights. In society, we have different castes, religions, and many other things that separate us, but on a broader picture, we all are Indians. India is a land that is a great example of “Unity in Diversity”. The beauty of our country is we have different languages, and we also have conflicts and differences, but on national festivals, we all stand as a united force.

Republic Day Speech in Hindi

Since childhood, 26 th January has been a memorable day for all of us. Many of us may recall this day as a festival and celebrate it in schools by participating in cultural programs and other activities. For a few of us, this is the day we get up to watch the Republic Day parade. The military parade starts from Vijay Chowk and culminates at the Red Fort in the national capital i.e. Delhi. The weapons and the army’s equipment in the parade reflect the power of our armed forces.

On this day, awards and medals of bravery are also given to the armed forces and to civilians too. The main attraction for the bravery awards is the young kids who are awarded by the prime minister for showing ultimate bravery.  When the helicopters of the armed forces fly past the parade area, and shower rose petals on the audience, everyone feels special. The program ends with the national anthem. Whether you are at home or watching the parade personally, you get up to give respect to the national anthem. It’s a day that makes us think beyond caste, creed, religion, state, language, and colour, and we all feel the same emotion of loving our country.

This was our first speech, you can say, on 26th January, Republic Day. Let’s move to our next Republic Day speech that is made for kids/students.

Republic Day Speech for Kids (sample)

Respected Principal, Teachers, and all my dear friends.

Today, I am standing in front of you to deliver a speech on Republic Day. Before moving forward, I would like to wish all of you who are present here a Happy Republic Day.

I was so enthralled when my class teacher told me a few days back that you have been selected to deliver a speech on the 26 th of January. I am excited but a bit nervous also because I never gave a speech earlier in my school life.

As you all know, today we have gathered here to celebrate the auspicious day of Republic Day, which we also know as “Gantantra Divas”, and as we all know, on this day in 1950, our full constitution came into effect. However, it was adopted on the 26th of November 1949 under the chairmanship of our beloved Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar, and we all know him as the father of the Indian Constitution; he was one of the greatest leaders of modern India at that time.

It’s a Gazetted holiday, but schools remain open to organize different functions in their school just as we are doing. Students perform several cultural activities and sing patriotic songs to remember our freedom fighters and celebrate the big day.

Our principal hoists the national flag; similarly, the president of India hoists the flag at Rajpath, and every year, they invite special chief guests from different countries.

On the eve of Republic Day, our president gave a speech in the name of the Nation.

The president of India gave some important awards like Ashoka Chakra and Kirti Chakra to the soldiers of India and bravery awards to the citizens of India.

Every school, college, and government office celebrates this day with zeal and enthusiasm.

But the biggest celebration is observed at the Rajpath in New Delhi. Where thousands of people gathered to watch the RDC parade. Chief guests from different world countries are invited to witness the celebration every year. The parade’s main attraction is the tableau of the selected states through which they showcase the culture and tradition of their states. The preparation for this parade started at least six months before Republic Day. Artists and students from different parts of the country participate in this celebration to make it memorable and grand.

But when our soldiers came with their battalion and all of their arms and ammunition in the parade, the audience got goosebumps and fill pride at the same time.

And at last, when our Air Force fighter pilots came with their jets and created our national flag tricolour in the sky, it became such a proud moment for every Indian.

It’s the day you can hear patriotic songs in every nook and corner of our street, and everyone celebrates this day with brotherhood and distributing sweets.

When our constitution came into effect, we had some common issues and still today, we are also facing some common issues like cleanliness, education, unemployment, and many others to resolve their government also launched some schemes like Swatch Bharat Abhiyan , Beti padhao Beti Bachao , skill India, make in India and many more but we cannot depend fully on the shoulders of our government we need to do something for our country and we all must take a step to make a better and stronger Nation.

We must keep the ideas that were mentioned in the constitution of India, which are justice for everyone, equality, liberty, fraternity, and sovereignty. We should not forget the ideas of our Gandhi Bapu, and we need to implement them in our lives to make our nation strong.

So let’s take a pledge that we all will maintain peace and harmony and must remember the sacrifices of our freedom fighters so that we can value the freedom which we got just because of their sacrifices. Before I conclude my speech, I would like to say, “Patriotism is just like charity; it must begin at home.”

Republic Day Speech For Students

All the national festivals are very special for all the Indians, but during school days, their charm is different. In schools, the preparation to celebrate national festivals starts before a few weeks.  Teachers and students both work hard to make the national festival a memorable day for the school, guests, and students. Soon, the first national festival of 2023 will come, and most of the students must have started their preparation for this day.

26th January Speech For Students in English (Sample)

Good Morning, respected principal, teachers, and my dear friends. My name is (Your name), I am studying in class (Your class name), and I wish to give a speech on the Republic Day celebration.

On this occasion of Republic Day, I would like to thank my class teacher for allowing me to speak about Republic Day.  Today, we are all gathered here to celebrate the 76th Republic Day of our nation.

On 26 th January 1950, our country got its constitution. We got our independence on 15 th August 1947 , but before 26th January 1950, we followed the British laws and rules. Since 26th January 1950, we have had our own rules and laws that are implemented for all Indians.

Our constitution has come into existence after many debates and amendments. On 26 November 1949, the drafting committee of the constitution was formed and Dr B. R. Ambedkar was appointed chairperson of the committee. After a debate in both houses, the constitution came into existence, and we became a republic country. A republic means that the country’s citizens hold supreme power to elect representatives. The Constitution gives all of us the same rights despite differences in religion, colour, or language.

A grand celebration of Republic day is held in the Capital of India, Delhi. On this day, ceremonial parades take place at the Rajpath in the presence of the President. The celebration starts at the gates of the Rashtrapati Bhavan. The President of India unfurled the national flag and addressed the nation with a Republic Day speech. The prestigious awards of the country are also given to martyrs and heroes of the army and civilians on this day.

On this day back in 1950, our constitution came into force. The constitution is like a religious book for a country, and we need to give it the same respect as we give to our religious book.

As our religious books tell us what we should do and what actions we should avoid, in the same way, the constitution of India suggests to us what we should do as citizens of the country and what actions we need to avoid. We have some rules and regulations in schools, and in the same way, we have to follow some regulations to be in this country.

Our constitution has given us a few responsibilities and a few rights, too. As both rights and responsibilities come together, we are expected to fulfil the responsibility as a citizen first before claiming our rights. You have the right to get an education, but you also carry the responsibility to be an obedient student.

Many top leaders play a prominent role in the preparation of the constitution of India. Dr B. R. Ambedkar was the chairman of the constitution drafting committee. At that time, when India had many social issues like casteism and others, the constitution gave the right to equality. When the country was facing riots and witnessed the partition based on religion our constitution-makers chose to make India a republic and democratic country. We all are proud of the equality we get here, and it’s given to us by our constitution. So, happy Republic Day! Celebrate this day as a festival because, on this day, India became a republic country.

Republic Day Speech in English (sample)

I am feeling so lucky that I am standing in front of you because so many contenders wanted to give a speech on the auspicious day of the 26th of January. I am not a good orator, so please pardon me if I make any mistakes…

I can see some faces in the crowd that are not looking so happy because they are hoping that I am going to give them a lecture on the 26th of January, but you don’t need to worry because I am not going to give you any lecture on Republic Day. After all, it’s a day of celebration; it’s a day of the birth of our constitution.

But its Republic Day so I will put some interesting facts in front of you

Republic day! when you heard this word, what was the first thing that came to your mind

Tell me honestly!

Yeah, some of them are whispering holiday-holiday…

You know I still remember that day…

When I was just 10 years old and I didn’t know anything about Republic Day…

Why do we celebrate it? And why does it come on the 26th of January every year…

Like others earlier, it was also a holiday for me too…

But one day on the 26th of January, when I was playing outside, my father called me and asked me…

Why didn’t you go to school today?

I said it was a holiday… He asked me why.

I said it’s a Republic Day…

He asked me do you know what that was (Republic Day)?

I nodded my head and said no…

Then my father told me about the day when our freedom fighters fought for our independence, and so many of them sacrificed their lives, how we got independence, how our constitution was formed and how our republic day came into effect on the 26th of January 1950.

The very next year, my father took me to Delhi for the RDC (Republic Day celebration), and I got to know more about it there… because visuals teach us more

And look, today we are celebrating the 75th Republic Day, and to celebrate this important day, we have come a long way.

Does anyone know when the Indian constituent assembly adopted our constitution?

Must be you forget it….

Ok, let me remind you once again… it was adopted on the 26 th of November 1949 and came into effect on the 26th Jan 1950.

OK, do you know under whose chairmanship our full constitution was drafted?

Yes, it’s Dr B.R. Ambedkar, and you know some of their friends called him Babasaheb.

Every year, we celebrated the grand Republic day in New Delhi at Rajpath, and a special chief guest was also invited for the day.

The event of Republic Day started with the arrival of the President of India, whom we also called the first citizen of India. Then our national anthem played, and after that, 21 gun salutes were also given in honour, but…

Do you know they didn’t fire the salutes with 21 canons? instead of that, they fired three times with 7 canons of the Indian Army, which was known as “25 Ponders”, and interestingly fired a match with the national anthem

Now, may I ask you something…?

Does anyone know what Rajpath’s previous name was?

Hmm, it seems like I had delivered a googly this time…

Rajpath previous name is “King’s Way”

And this year also, India has invited Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro

Ok let me check your general knowledge now. Does anyone know who is our first-ever chief guest in RDC

Deep silences, hmm…

Ok, do not stare at me. It’s the President of Indonesia, Dr Sukarno

From our childhood, I have learned that there are six fundamental rights in our constitution

  • Right to equality
  • Right to freedom
  • Right against exploitation
  • Right to freedom of religion
  • Cultural and educational rights
  • And a right to constitutional remedies

But a few years back they added one more to the list do you know what was it?

  • It was right to education

We are adding the right to education but we are not able to teach our kids about our independence… our constitution

Most of them don’t know why we celebrate these days, and even…

Some of them can’t differentiate between Republic Day and Independence Day

Our ancestor fought for independence, but today’s generation don’t know anything about them

Do you know Bhagat Singh left his home at the age of just 13 and died for the freedom of our country when he was just 23…?

You should ask a question to yourself have you done anything in your life for your country

We all parents need to take our children at a young age to such places where they can learn about our country, especially on Republic Day and Independence Day.

So that they can tell the next generation about our country and the importance of Republic Day and Independence Day

Must tell them it’s not a holiday because someone has to pay off their life for this day

Every school and college must celebrate this day full of joy just as they celebrate their convocation… fresher party… and farewell party

So that every child must wait for this day desperately every year

Let us remain this day republic day, not a holiday

Now I have to sign off but before doing that I recall the famous quote by “Mark Twain” he said…

“Indian is the cradle of the human race, the birthplace of human speech, the mother of history, the grandmother of legend, and the great grand-mother of tradition. Our most valuable and most astrictive materials in the history of man are treasured up in India only”!

“We are the Indian firstly and lastly”

– By B. R Ambedkar

Jai Hind…. Vande Mataram…

A “major reset” in Singapore’s policies and attitudes – that was how Prime Minister Lawrence Wong described the road ahead for the country in his first National Day Rally speech.

Among the key initiatives announced on Sunday (Aug 18) was a financial aid scheme for retrenched workers.

Parents of newborns will get an extra 10 weeks of shared leave, and singles will be included in a scheme that gives priority to people applying for new public flats near their parents.
