Instructions pertaining to Reservation of Seats, Fees, general eligibility criteria and Exam pattern for PhD Entrance Test – 2023

Submission of application for PhD Programme will be online only. The candidate can only apply for one Programme as the Entrance Test shall be conducted for all the Programmes on the same day.
Application Fee for submission of online application is Rs 1000.
Application fee is non-refundable.
The number of seats to be advertised in different categories (GEN/OBC/SC/ST/EWS) is as per the Reservation Policy for Research Degree Programmes and DOPT,Govt of India .norms amended from time to time. Appendix II of the Information Brochure may be referred in this regard.
No request for change in reservation category, shall be entertained once the application has been successfully submitted.
Five percent (5%) seats shall be reserved for Persons with Disabilities (with not less than 40% disability). However such candidates shall be adjusted against the appropriate category (Gen/SC/ST/OBC/EWS) to which they belong (Ref.Annexure II of Information Brochure 2023).
Candidates awarded with fellowship/scholarship in UGC-NET/UGC- CSIR NET/GATE/CEED and similar National level tests, as per the validity specified by the regulatory bodies, shall be exempted from Entrance Test and their selection will be based on interview. These candidates shall be considered as Category- A. Such candidates have to upload their valid fellowship award letter from the concerned implementing / awarding agency.
For Category A Candidates , interview shall carry 100% weightage. All eligible candidates from Category A will be called for the interview.
For Category B Candidates , the Entrance Test shall carry a weightage of 70% and 30% weightage shall be given to the interview. Those who secure at least 50% marks in the Entrance Test (45% marks in case of SC/ST/OBC (Non Creamy layers) / Differently abled persons and EWS) will be shortlisted for the interview in order of merit subject to the maximum limit of five times of the available seats.

Stage II: Interview:

Eligible candidates from Category A & Category B shall be called for interview before the Discipline Specific Admission committee. Information in this regard shall be uploaded on the University website. The respective disciplines/ schools will communicate regarding the requirement for the interview.
The interview shall have three components comprising Research Methodology (40%) Subject domain (40%) and Communication Skills (20%).
Admission to the Ph.D Degree Programmes is strictly on merit, based on the performance in the Entrance Test and Interview taken together.
A candidate will be eligible for admission and registration for the PhD programme, on the fulfillment of the following conditions :
Candidates who have completed:
A 1-year/2-semester master's degree programme after a 4-year/8-semester bachelor’s degree programme or a 2-year/4-semester master’s degree programme after a 3-year bachelor’s degree programme or qualifications declared equivalent to the master’s degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed or equivalent qualification from a foreign educational institution accredited by an assessment and accreditation agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country to assess, accredit or assure quality and standards of the educational institution.
A relaxation of 5% marks or its equivalent grade is allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently-Abled, Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and other categories of candidates as per the decision as per the decision of the UGC from time to time. Provided that a candidate seeking admission after a 4-year/8-semester bachelor’s degree programme should have a minimum of 75% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade on a point scale wherever the grading system is followed.
A relaxation of 5% marks or its equivalent grade may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently-Abled, Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the Commission from time to time.

In case, a candidate does not meet these minimum eligibility criteria and appears in the written examination, it is at the candidate’s own risk and cost, and if at any stage, it is found that the minimum eligibility requirements are not fulfilled, the admission, if granted, shall be cancelled ipso facto.

Syllabus and Question paper

a) The syllabus of the Entrance Test is as per the ‘University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of PhD Degree) Regulations, 2022 comprising 50% on Research methodology and 50% on specific subject. The syllabus for each discipline is annexed at Appendix III of information brochure.
b) The question paper shall have questions consisting of 50% on research methodology and 50% on specific subject .

IGNOU PhD 2024 Highlights

How to Apply for IGNOU PhD Entrance Exam 2024?

Students can easily apply for Ph.D. Entrance Examination through online mode. Interested candidates have to click on the given application link and then click on the “Online Application Form” link for Ph.D. July 2023. After the click, you will go to the registration section where you have to click on New Registration to begin your registration procedure.
Candidates have to fill all sections including the Registration and Application Form without any spelling mistakes
Once you fill in the above details, it is mandatory to upload your recent passport-size scanned photograph and digital signature. A scanned photograph must be less than 200 KB in size and Signature must be less than 30 KB. After uploading, you have to re-verify your application with all the details that you provided to the university before submitting it. You can also get a print of your Application form before proceeding with payment.
After checking your application, candidates have to pay their application fee by online mode. After completion of payment, you will get a payment receipt so keep it safe with you for any future reference.
After successful payment, you will receive a notification or confirmation via SMS or through your registered email ID. If you didn’t get any confirmation then, please contact the IGNOU Ph.D. support team as fast as possible.
Candidates have to note down their Application Number to login into the Ph.D. entrance portal to download their Admit Card and Result in the future.

It is compulsory to register yourself to fill out your application form online. Once you have paid your fees for the entrance exam will not be refundable to the candidate in any circumstances. Registration fee, Cancellation of Admission and Refund of Fee

A non-refundable Registration Fee shall be charged along with the programme fee of first semester/year at the time of admission.

If a student applies for cancellation of application/admission and refund of fee, the refund request will be considered as per the University policy as under:

Before confirmation of admission: Full Programme fee paid shall be refunded.

After confirmation of admission:

Within 15 days of confirmation of admission : Programme Fee paid shall be refunded after deduction of Rs.500/- .

Within 16-90 days of confirmation of admission: Programme Fee paid shall be refunded after deduction of Rs.1000/- .

After 90 days of confirmation of admission: No refund shall be allowed.

5% of the seats shall be reserved for Persons with Disabilities (with not less than 40% disability). These candidates shall be adjusted against the appropriate category (GEN/ SC/ ST/ OBC/ EWS) to which they belong.
The application form for the IGNOU PhD admission 2024 will be done online. Entrance examination is compulsory for all candidates including MPhil/ NET/ JRF for admission to PhD. No exemption from appearing for the entrance exam is allowed.
The application fee for submitting the online application form is INR 1000 and the fee amount is non-refundable.
No request for change in category shall be entertained once the application form has been successfully submitted.
Eligibility for appearing in the entrance exam is subject to the candidate fulfilling the minimum eligibility requirements as prescribed in the IGNOU regulations for PhD courses.
In case, a candidate does not meet the required minimum eligibility criteria and appears in the written exam, is at the candidate’s own risk and cost, and if at any stage, it is found that the minimum eligibility requirements are not fulfilled, the admission, if granted, shall be cancelled then and there.
The weightage of the entrance exam is 70% and 30% weightage is for the Interview.
In the entrance exam, 50% is the qualifying mark for unreserved category candidates and for SC/ ST/ OBC/ EWS /PWD, the qualifying mark is 45%.

Entrance exam:.

On the IGNOU website, a list of shortlisted candidates who will be needed to take the Entrance Exam will be posted.
One week before the test, the admit card will be available on the IGNOU official website.
Candidates must bring their admission card to the exam centre or they will be denied the opportunity to take the written exam.
At the test centre, applicants must present an original identity evidence with a photograph, such as an Aadhar Card, Voter ID Card, Driving License, Passport, or ID card.
To pass the exam, students must have a minimum score of 50% on the admission exam.
The Entrance Exam will be place in 13 different cities.

Presentation/Interview:

Candidates who pass the written test will be invited to an interview/presentation round.
Only the Selected Candidates will get admission offer letters.

The thesis will be assessed by three External Experts nominated by the Vice Chancellor from a list of seven experts provided by the Supervisor/s through the School Board. In the case of MPhil, the dissertation will be evaluated by one external examiner nominated by the Vice Chancellor from a list of at least five experts submitted by the supervisor through the School Board. The Examiner/s' reports should be submitted using the provided format.

Course work

When your Research Project is approved, the Doctoral Committee may also require you to complete Course work that relates to the research's focus areas and research methodology. The specifics of this Course Work, how it will be evaluated, and the schedule for teaching it will be provided by the Research Programme Coordinator. Mostly, Course Work is assigned to candidates applying for admission to the MPhil program. It's also assigned to PhD candidates who haven't completed an MPhil. However, the Doctoral Committee may assign Course Work to PhD candidates who have already completed an MPhil as well.

Viva Examinations

For Ph.D. candidates, the viva-voce examination will be conducted at IGNOU. A panel will oversee this examination, consisting of an external examiner appointed by the Vice Chancellor, along with your principal supervisor who acts as the convener. The Director of the concerned department will be the panel's Chairperson. The date, venue, and thesis topic along with a brief abstract will be communicated to the Research Unit. This information will also be made widely available to encourage broader participation in the session. To successfully complete the MPhil program, you need to secure a minimum of 50% marks in each course, 50% in your dissertation work, and 50% in the viva-voce examination.

IGNOU PhD Admission 2021: Deadline to submit online applications extended till 30 December

The examination for PhD courses will be conducted on 16 January next year, according to the information bulletin

The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has extended the last date for submission of online applications for PhD courses for the academic session 2021-22 to 30 December. Candidates can apply for various PhD courses till 11.50 pm on 30 December on the official website of IGNOU - ignou.ac.in .

The extension has been made by National Testing Agency (NTA) following a large number of requests for the same.

Fill the PhD application form with the required details
Upload documents and pay the mentioned IGNOU application fee
Download a copy of the duly filled IGNOU PhD form to use in the future

As per the notice released by National Testing Agency , the last date for payment of application fee for PhD courses is 31 December up to 11.50 pm only. Earlier, the last date to submit online applications for PhD courses was 22 December.

Corrections window to make changes in the particulars of the online application forms shall be open from 1 January to 3 January up to 11.50 pm only. Applicants will have to submit an additional fee for making the changes in the form. No chances of further corrections will be provided to candidates after the above mentioned correction period.

Those applying for PhD courses from General (UR)/OBC-(NCL)/General-EWS categories have to pay a fee of Rs 1,000. Applicants who belong to Third Gender/SC/ST/PwD categories have to pay Rs 800 as application fee.

Payment has to be done through online transaction from credit card/debit card/net banking/UPI/Canara Bank or ICICI Bank.

According to the information bulletin, the examination for PhD courses will be conducted on 16 January next year. Duration of the exam will be a total of 180 minutes.

IGNOU PhD entrance exam 2023 registration last date extended to January 3

NEW DELHI: Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has extended the last date for submission of online application form for entrance test of PhD for July 2023 session, BSc Nursing and BEd for January 2024 session. Students will be able to submit the application form by January 3.

Students who are applying during this extended period will have to pay an additional late fee of Rs 200. Candidates will have to submit Rs 1,000 registration fee to complete the application form. As per the schedule, the exam will be held on January 7.

“The last date for submission of Online Application Form for Ph.D. (For July 2023 Session), BSc Nursing and BEd (For January, 2024 Session) has been extended till 03 January, 2024 up to 05:00 P.M with a late fee of Rs. 200,” the university said.

Entrance test will have 70% weightage and 30% weightage will be given to the interview round for PhD admission.

IGNOU Entrance Test: How to apply

Applicants can follow the steps given below to register for the PhD entrance exam.

Visit the IGNOU official website, ignouphd.samarth.edu.in.
Click on the ‘New registration’ that appears on the homepage.
Fill in basic details to generate username and password.
Username should be between 8 to 16 characters.
The password should be alphanumeric and between 8 to 16 characters long.
After filling the mandatory information click the "SUBMIT" button.
The username will be instantly sent through e-mail and SMS.
Fill the basic details and upload the following documents.
Scanned passport size photograph, which should be less than 100 KB.
Scanned signature with less than 100 KB.

To apply for the entrance test, candidates can follow the steps given below.

Visit the official website of IGNOU at ignou.ac.in.
Click on IGNOU Entrance Test 2024 link available on the home page.
A new page will open where candidates will have to click on the required degree link.
Click on new registration and fill the necessary details.
Once done, click on submit.
Login to the account and fill the application form.
Make the payment of application fees and click on submit.
Download the confirmation page and keep a hard copy of the same for further need.

IGNOU Ph.D. Entrance Exam

IGNOU Ph.D. Entrance admission process is available on the official link – https://ignou.nta.ac.in/
The IGNOU Ph.D. entrance exam will now be held on January 7, 2024 .
The registration window has opened from 12 December 2023 till 03 January 2024 .
The fee for the general category is Rs.1000/- and students who belong to the reserved category like SC/ST/PwD/Third Gender will get a concession and they are required to pay 800/- .
Admit cards will be uploaded, once the registration process is completed by the university.
The duration of the examination will be 180 minutes which is around 3 hours.
The timing of the examinations will be 10:00 am to 1:00 pm.

The medium of language is Hindi/English and the test will be held in Online mode.
The paper will be of 400 marks in total.
Students should have completed their PG/Mphil to be eligible for the Ph.D. courses .
General Category students must have obtained at least 55% marks in their PG/M.Phil whereas for the reserved category, students are required to score 50% marks or above in their PG/Mphil degree.
Merit list has been prepared to shortlist students who have qualified for the entrance examination. Afterward, the interview round will be conducted for the students whose dates are out.

IGNOU Ph.D. Selection Criteria

Selection to Ph.D. programs at IGNOU is based on entrance exam scores. The entrance exam for PhD admission is conducted at the national level on the pattern of CSIR/UGC. Under merit, candidates who receive at least 50% on the Ph.D. entrance exam will be shortlisted for interviews up to five times the number of open seats. 37th Convocation of the University is likely to be held in Jan/Feb, 2024. (Keep visiting University’s website regularly for any information/ updates in this regard).
The students completed their Programme of study in December 2022 and June 2023 Term End Examinations are eligible for award of original certificate at this Convocation.
The students shall have to attend the Convocation and collect the certificate at his/her Regional Centre where they belong to and not at any other Regional Centre.
Students will be given option “To Attend Convocation in Person or receive Degree/Diploma by Post”.
All the students are required to fill their present Address at which they want to receive their Degree/Diploma/Certificate.
In case, the Convocation is not held at the Regional Centre due to any circumstances where the student belongs to, he/she shall have to attend the Convocation at other nearby Regional Centre which may be mostly in the same state/nearby state. Otherwise his/her Degree/ Diploma/ Certificate will be sent to his/her address by post. Intimation in this regard will be issued later on.
In case, the students are not invited to attend the Convocation or could not attend the Convocation even after submission of the requisite fee, their degree/diploma will be sent by post by the concerned Regional Centre after the convocation and in case of P.G. Certificate/Certificate Programmes, Certificate will be sent by Headquarters. Such students should therefore contact their concerned Regional Centre, where they belong to/Headquarters, as the case may be.

Jawaharlal Nehru University has released the JNU PG application form in online mode at its official website. Candidates seeking JNU admission in UG and PG programmes must fill out and submit the JNU admission form 2024 at the official website of the university - jnu.ac.in: before the deadline. Candidates are advised to check the eligibility criteria of their desired programme before filling the JNU application form and enter all the details correctly.

JNU 2024 Application form - Important Points

The JNU PG application form has released on April 29.

The application form for JNU 2024 will be made available through online mode.

The JNU UG application form 2024 will be released in June 2024.

Firstly, candidates’ registration is required for which they have to provide the basic details like name, father’s name, email, DOB, and others.

The authority will also provide a correction facility to the candidates after the completion of registration process.

After providing all the information and uploading the documents, candidates have to pay the required application fee.

Candidates must take the printout of the application form for future reference.

For the academic session 2024-25, Jawaharlal Nehru University will accept the CUET-UG scores for admission to BA (Hons.) in foreign languages, school of Sanskrit and Indic Studies. B. Sc - M. Sc Integrated programme in Ayurveda Biology and Certificate of Proficiency Courses. The University accepts CUET-PG scores for admission to MA, M.Sc, MCA, MPH, M.Tech, post graduate diploma, and advanced diploma courses.

The Jawaharlal Nehru University will release the JNU 2024 three cut-offs for all the undergraduate and integrated postgraduate programmes to decide the qualifying marks.

Mode of exam: The exam will be conducted through CBT mode (Computer Based Test).

Duration: The duration of the exam is - Slot 1: 2 Hours, Slot 2: 2 Hours, Slot 3: 3 hours

Type of Questions: The question paper contains Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs).

Number of questions: There are a total of 100 questions in the paper.

Medium: The CUET paper is being conducted in 13 languages.

Marking scheme: 1 mark will be given for every correct answer and there will be no negative marking.

JNU CUET PG Exam Pattern 2024

Exam Mode: The CUET PG exam 2024 will be organised via online (computer based) mode.

Time Duration : Candidates have to solve the paper within 2 hours.

No. of Questions : Each question paper consists of 100 questions.

Marking Scheme: For each correct answer, 4 marks will be awarded.

Negative marking : For each incorrect answer, 1 mark will be deducted

Jawaharlal Nehru University will publish the JNU PG 2024 merit list in July via online mode. Candidates can visit the official website to check the merit list of JNU PG 2024. Similarly, the JNU UG 2024 merit list will be published in August on the official website. The JNU merit list includes the name of the candidates who have qualified for the admissions. On the basis of the positions of students in the JNU 2024 merit list and the reservation criteria, candidates are invited for the document verification round of the JNU 2024 counselling process.

The qualifying candidates need to attend the JNU counselling which includes verification of their official documents, remitting the semester fee, and fixing their seat in the first semester. It must be noted that there is a certain official document that must be carried by the candidates for them to get verified by the authorities. Failure in presenting any one of the official documents will lead to the candidate’s disqualification. Therefore, it is advisable that the candidates go through the list of required official documents.

For phD Course in JNU 2023 , the last date of application was december 8, 2023. The exam will be held in may 2024.

Now application forms for phD will be released in December 2024 for which enteanxe exam will be held in April or May 2025.

Admission procedure for phD in political science in Hawaharksl Nehru university for the year 2024 is as follows

Eligibility-

The candidate must be of 21 years old ( minimum), the candidate must have secured minimum 55 % marks in master's Course, If you want to pursue phD in political science then you must have master's degree in political science with 55% .

Entrance exam -

There will be held a written test ,

The candidate must obtain following marks out of 70 in written test of doctorate studies to be invited to viva voce Examination.

35 % marks ie 24.50 marks out of 70 ,general category candidate
For obc candidate it is mandatory to get 31.5% marks ie 22.05 marks out of 70
Sc/ st category students should get 25% marks

The candidates will give through final selection on the basis of merit in their respective categories

as measured by their performances.

Through out written exam

No applicant will be eligible for admission to phD programmes unless He or she will not achieve the following minimum overall score
