Bahubali 2 The Conclusion (4)-5

Everyone's curious to know the answer to this question: Why did Kattappa kill Baahubali? We can guesstimate and offer varied versions and theories, but looking back, I don't think the moviegoers had an inkling of how the master storyteller, S.S. Rajamouli, would culminate the first installment of the epic saga BAAHUBALI and how the terrific cliffhanger would eventually become the talking point.

I am also sure, Rajamouli must've not foreseen that the question -- Kattappa ne Baahubali ko kyun maara? -- would set off thesis, blogs and memes by movie aficionados across the globe. As a matter of fact, Baahubali, Bhallala Deva and Kattappa -- the iconic characters -- have captured the imagination of the movie-going audience like no film characters in the recent past.

Cut to the present... The wait is finally over! BAAHUBALI-2 hits the marquee today. The excitement is palpable. There's tremendous curiosity to witness, scrutinize, analyze and dissect the concluding installment of the path-breaking film. Resultantly, the expectations -- much like the canvas of the film -- are monumental.

Does BAAHUBALI-2 live up to those lofty expectations? Is the second part superior than the predecessor? With unprecedented hype surrounding the keenly-anticipated movie, the inescapable question is, will BAAHUBALI-2 set new benchmarks as a film and also at the BO?

Let me come to the point right away. BAAHUBALI-2 is a joyride that you wish never ends. I haven't enjoyed any entertainer as much as I enjoyed this one. As a movie buff, I have followed Rajamouli's body of work in Telugu films and admired his prowess as a storyteller. After BAAHUBALI-2, it's not just admiration, but respect and reverence as well. It wouldn't be erroneous to state that you haven't watched something like this on the Hindi screen ever. Also, as a cinematic experience, BAAHUBALI-2 takes gigantic strides, taking Indian cinema notches higher… over and above the standards set by several skilled raconteurs in the past.

It requires foresight, guts, vision and of course, the financial muscle to bring to life a lavish spectacle on the giant screen. And Rajamouli uses his strengths and opportunities to accomplish what a majority of storytellers can only talk about or dream of. Let me add, BAAHUBALI-2 is not merely a visually enchanting experience, but also a well-structured film that engulfs you into its world.

BAAHUBALI-2 takes you back to the kingdom of Mahishmati and brings to fore the reason that triggered off the feud between Baahubali [Prabhas] and Bhallala Deva [Rana Daggubati]. It's the fight to the finish in the concluding part. Will Shiva, the son of Baahubali, succeed against the tyrannical and treacherous Bhallala Deva? Will he regain authority of the kingdom that was snatched from his family by Bhallala Deva? Why did Bhallala Deva keep Devasena [Anushka Shetty] captive all these years? Finally, the pertinent question: Why did Kattappa [Sathyaraj] eliminate Baahubali?

Roll out the red carpet... Blow the conch shells... Beat the drums... It's time to celebrate and I will tell you why!

On paper, the plot may seem inspired by history, mythology and comic books that we have read in our growing up years. But scratch the exterior and you realize, Rajamouli belts out an altogether new story that rests on the age-old adage, good triumphs eventually.

Bahubali 2 The Conclusion (2)

Rajamouli carries a huge burden on his shoulders: He knows that comparisons between the two parts of BAAHUBALI are inevitable. The concluding installment has to be bigger [canvas, VFX] and better [entertainment quotient] than the first part. It's a daunting challenge actually. And BAAHUBALI-2 delivers and how!

BAAHUBALI-2 is seeped in Indian ethos [story: K.V. Vijayendra Prasad], while the drama is garnished with several awe-inspiring sequences and jaw-dropping visuals. The screenwriting vacillates between romance, high-voltage drama, tension-filled confrontations and luminously filmed and brilliantly crafted action sequences, resulting in a movie-going experience that doesn't insult your intelligence. The content is desi, while the packaging has an international feel.

Okay, I am *not* a spoilsport to reveal the answer to the pertinent question: Why did Kattappa kill Baahubali? However, I wish to add, the entire track is simply brilliant!

There's no doubt that BAAHUBALI-2 is Rajamouli's most accomplished effort to date. His choice of the subject over the years has been diverse, but BAAHUBALI-2 is truly the big ticket entertainer that leaves you awestruck by its powerful storytelling and meticulous detailing. Any deterrent? The Hindi soundtrack could've been better, but that's a tiny hiccup. Also, the editing could've been sharper at places.

The breathtaking, larger-than-life frames [DoP: K.K. Senthil Kumar], grandiose and opulent production design [Sabu Cyril] and stunning visual effects impart sheen and sparkle. The action portions provide ample exhilarating moments and I must add, it commands repeat viewing.

BAAHUBALI-2 is powered by strong performances from the skilled cast. Having said that, the eyes are on the protagonist and antagonist all the while. You can sense the tension when the two gladiators clash and collide. Prabhas is electrifying and gives the two characters the authority that they deserve. The undeniable presence and winsome act adds weight to the magnum opus. Rana is menacing, ferocious and nails his part with precision. His physical transformation -- a prerequisite for the character -- makes him look powerful and unshakable.

Anushka Shetty invests purity, valor and strength into her character and emerges triumphant. Tamannaah gets limited scope this time. Ramya Krishnan looks aristocratic and shines as the queen mother Sivagami. Sathyaraj uses his piercing eyes to convey intensity and owns every sequence he's in. Nassar is ruthlessly manipulative and pitches in a tremendous act. Subbaraju, the actor enacting the part of Kumar, is unmistakably earnest.

On the whole, the BAAHUBALI franchise has successfully created its own world and some incredible characters that are sure to stay with you for a long, long time. Talking specifically of BAAHUBALI-2, it's a feast for moviegoers and has the trappings to make all generations its fan. The film is sure to vanquish previous BO records and rewrite the rules of the game. It shouldn't come as a surprise if it turns out to be the biggest grosser of Indian cinema. East, West, North, South... BAAHUBALI-2 is akin to a typhoon that will end the dry spell at the BO and go down as a textbook on how to make a solid entertainer. EPIC BLOCKBUSTER.

The budget’s big, the muscle considerable, but they’re nothing compared to Baahubali’s heart.

Baahubali 2: The Conclusion review – joyous action epic soars

The second part of India’s most expensive film ever is a jaw-dropping blockbuster that combines nimble action with genuine heart

2015’s Baahubali: The Beginning, the impressive first chunk of India’s most expensive film yet, built towards a literal cliffhanger, with a strongman knifed in the back by a trusted associate on the mountain it had taken just shy of three hours to climb. Not untypical of a film hungrily synthesising centuries’ worth of sacred and secular myths, that shock was always going to be tricky to top – so it’s a relief to report that The Conclusion opens with a no less jawdropping set-to between the hero’s mother and a stampeding elephant. Here, once again, is thunderous spectacle unlikely to be surpassed in several summers, and clinching proof of writer-director SS Rajamouli’s position among world cinema’s boldest imagemakers.

With quite some explaining to do, The Conclusion’s first half rewinds back into this narrative, dispatching the Herculean Baahu (Prabhas, BeeGeean head of hair ever-billowing) to an idyllic neighbouring kingdom for a lesson or two in worldliness. If the first film inclined towards physicality – how to get up that mountainside? – this second initially steps sideways into more philosophical terrain. The courtly triangle established between Baahu, warrior princess Devasena (Anushka Shetty) and self-doubting swordsman Kumar Varma (Subba Raju) prompts a few questions about those qualities we look for in our leaders; sociologists get some substance to chew between handfuls of popcorn.

The action throughout remains joyous. Baahu’s quasi-cartoonish strength permits the film to take mightily imaginative leaps: one minute our guy’s casually surfing flaming oxen, the next he’s converting himself into a human cannonball with the assistance of a coconut tree. This time, however, we’re more aware of the stakes underpinning such flights of fancy. Rajamouli plots a nimble, broadly progressive path through an especially tangled set of court politics – setting Baahu and Deva to dodge iron fists and wandering hands alike – while alighting upon pleasing grace notes and symmetries: the coda offers a rare convincing demonstration of trickledown economics, even as it returns us to The Beginning.

Entirely absent, again, is any cynicism: it’s amazing that a blockbuster with a long pre-title rollcall of “brand partners” should then be permitted to tell a story that could have been filmed in 1917, or 917, if they’d had equipment for a Baahu to lug. This production’s triumph is the room it’s granted Rajamouli to head into the fields and dream up endlessly expressive ways to frame bodies in motion. Of the many sequences here primed to cut through jadedness, perhaps the most wondrous is that which finds Baahu guiding Deva mid-battle to shoot three arrows simultaneously – a set piece that speaks both to a love of action, and love in action. The budget’s big, the muscle considerable, but they’re nothing compared with Baahubali’s heart.

Baahubali 2 Review: Epic Conclusion!

Baahubali 2 Review: Epic Conclusion!

Movie: Baahubali 2 Rating: 3.5/5 Banner: Arka Media Works Cast: Prabhas, Rana, Anushka, Ramya Krishna, Tamanna, Sathya Raj and others Story: V Vijayendra Prasad Music: M M Keeravan Cinematography: K K Senthil Kumar Production Design: Sabu Cyril Editor: Kotagiri Venkateshwara Rao VFS Supervision: Kamal Kannan Producers: Prasad Devineni, Shobu Yarlagadda Screenplay and directed by:  S S Rajamouli Release date: Apr 27, 2017

"Baahubali The Beginning" created history. It set new records for a Telugu movie. It won National Film awards. "Baahubali The Beginning" was a box-office phenomena nationwide, the movie's ending became a trending top - "Why Kattappa Killed Baahubali".

Such was the hysteria that it had created. People have been waiting for the release of "Baahubali 2" since 2015. Finally, the much-awaited, much-publicized, and much-hyped "Baahubali The Conclusion" is here.

Let's find out whether Rajamouli has weaved magic again or not?

Story: Story begins from where "Baahubali The Beginning" has ended. Rajamata  Sivagami (Ramya Krishna) asks Amarendra Baahubali (Prabhas) to tour entire country before swearing in as emperor.

While touring, he heads to Kuntala rajyam and sees beautiful princess Deva Sena (Anushka). He introduces himself as a wanderer to her and not as soon-to-be emperor. They fall in love.

Due to some incidents Sivagami makes Bhallala the emperor and Baahubali as chief of army staff. Bhallala and his father Bijjala feed wrong information to Sivagami who takes a bold decision. Rest of the movie is about how Sivudu's story and Bhalladeva's story gets mixed.

Artistes’ Performances: Prabhas is exceptionally good as Amarendra Baahubali. This part completely focuses on his story. He has given a spotless performance. He is terrific in every aspect, from acting to looks, to royal gait and action stunts. The Sivudu's portion is restricted to only the final portions.

After Prabhas, Anushka as Deva Sena gets more footage and her characterization is terrific. Although it is evident that her face and body has been digitally corrected, she looks absolutely stunning.

Rana is a perfect foil to Prabhas. He has shown his talent in the climax sequences. Ramya Krishna as Sivagami has not got much role here.

Sathya Raj as Kattappa has not only got more space, but has also shown varied emotions. Nasser as kind of  Sakuni is excellent. He steals the show actually. In other roles, Subbaraju gets noticed.

Technical Excellence:   "Baahubali The Beginning" showcased the technical mastery this team had achieved. Except the VFX supervisor, same team has worked for "Baahubali The Conclusion", hence the technical standards are exceptionally good in all terms.

Senthil's cinematography is beyond words to describe. He has achieved command in handling such massive movies. Sound design is superb. Background score is also terrific though songs fail to impress totally. Editing is sharp.

The action stunts are of international standards, the film has many fights including a lengthy climax episode. The action stunts are a total paisa vasool to the action lovers.

Visual effects are mixed bag - in some parts they are simply superb, in other sequences they are awfully bad. Dialogues are okay.

Highlights: Amazing interval bang High emotional content Gripping narration Astounding technical values

Drawback: Silly comedy in the first half Not-so-great visual effects Lengthy and predictable climax

Analysis: A film is told in two-parts is not new to Tollywood audiences but the scale of "Baahubali: The Beginning" and "Baahubali: The Conclusion" was never witnessed before.

The first part ended on a cliffhanger and made us want to know why the trusted aide Kattappa killed his own emperor Baahubali. The master director Rajamouli has kept the secret intact till the second half in this second part as he introduces more intrigue in the first half.

The movie begins where the first part concluded with Amarendra Baahubali ready to take the oath of emperor. Before becoming emperor, Sivagami asks him to find out how the people are leading their lives and what are the conditions of the families under their rule.

This sets a new course of drama and introduces us to the Kuntala rajyam that wasn't shown in the first part. Rajamouli cleverly uses this time to focus on the romance of Prabhas and Anushka by withholding the first question - “Why Kattappa Killed Baahubali?”

Though the romantic part is not good as the comic scenes inserted are out rightly silly, but the grand visuals makeup for these shortcomings.

The drama moves back to Mahismati when Prabhas and Devasena come to Sivagami, the story progresses into high emotional pitch and ends with an interval bang that would surely bring claps from the audiences.

Post-interval, the story further moves with more emotional scenes, and palace conspiracies. The Shakuni kind of drama goes on and on and slowly builds the drama towards the answer to the pertinent question - Why Kattappa Killed Baahubali? This sequence is handled deftly by Rajamouli.

Whether the reason shown here is unique or predictable is debatable. After this the drama goes down and turns pretty predictable.

The penultimate sequence - a nearly 20 minutes lengthy war sequence involving Bhallala Deva and Sivudu is too cliched. Though the war techniques used by Shivudu aka Mahendra Baahubali are unique, they totally lack believability. Added to these, the visual effects fails to awe us.

The second part has revolved around only six characters - Amarendra Baahubali, Deva Sena, Sivagami, Kattappa, Ballaladeva and Sivudu. Tamanna only appears during the climax for few seconds. Many portions also lack clarity and seem rushed.

Overall, "Baahubali The Conclusion" is a true blockbuster movie that is aimed to impress the larger section of audiences.

Rajamouli has stressed more on emotions which were lacking in the first part. So, the film caters to both sections that look for emotions and that want to get swayed by the visuals and war scenes.

Bottom-line: Exceptional, Emotional!

Baahubali 2 : The Conclusion Movie Review | This One Is As Big As The 1st Part; Maybe Even Better

Baahubali 2 : the conclusion is as big as baahubali : the beginning; maybe even better. finally the mystery has been revealed why baahubali was killed by katappa.

bahubali movie review 123telugu

Star Cast: Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty, Tamannaah, Sathyaraj, Nasser, Ramya Krishnan, Subbaraju

Director:  S S Rajamouli

How Much Will Bahubali 2 (Hindi) Collect On Day 1 At Box Office? Vote!

What’s Good: A powerful story and Rajamouli’s vision to build this magnum opus is laudable. This is a visual spectacle!

What’s Bad: A few over the top action sequences and hamming by supporting cast is annoying.

Loo Break: At your own risk!

Watch or Not?:  I’m sure you gonna watch it if you have seen the first one. Baahubali 2 is equally gripping and a must watch for those who saw the first one!

The story takes off exactly from where it ended in the first part. Shiva (Prabhas) has learnt about his heritage and now we are learning the back story of Amarendra Baahubali (Prabhas).

Amarendra has been chosen by Sivagami (Ramya Krishnan) to become the next King of Mahishmati Kingdom. Before his swearing in ceremony, he is asked to take a tour of the regions under his leadership as a commoner, just to learn in depth about his people. On his tour, Amarendra meets Devasena (Anushka Shetty). She is a fiery princess who knows well when to use her sword. Impressed by her beauty and valor, Baahubali falls in love with her. While he is still in disguise as a commoner, Devasena too starts to harbor feelings for him.

When a proposal is sent by Sivagami for Devsena, the princess who has her head held high, refuses to get wooed by the gold and gifts sent to her. While Baahubali misunderstands the proposal to be for his marriage it actually turns out to be for his brother Bhallaladeva (Rana Daggubati).

Sivagami doesn’t have a liking for Devasena after her arrogant refusal and asks her to be captured and brought to Mahishmati. Baahubali accompanies Devasena and eventually the truth about their love is disclosed in court. In order to honor the vow that Sivagami gave Bhallaladeva for his marriage to Devasena, Baahubali steps down as King and Bhalladeva takes the throne.

After a mythological twist, there’s the biggest mystery of all time to be solved. Why did Katappa kill Baahubali? And why did Sivagami have to give her life, saving Baahubali’s child – Shiva/Mahendra?

Baahubali 2: The Conclusion Review: Script Analysis

After the kind of response Baahubali: The Beginning received, I can’t imagine the kind of pressure, the makers had whilst working on this one. So many expectations and theories latched onto one mystery.

The first half of Baahubali takes its own sweet time to establish the history. There’s the love angle between Baahubali and Devasena that takes off in an interesting manner. There’s comic relief in these portions and it’s amazing how the writers have moulded Katappa’s otherwise tough and dutiful character to funny antics here.

Devasena’s character from her younger days clearly justifies her tough status from the first part where, she stands tall against Bhallaladeva in spite of his power. Certain scenes make a solid impact, like the one where Baahubali slashed Sethupathi’s neck in the midst of a court session, saying “Jo Auraton ki izzat pe haath daale, uska haath nai, sar kaatna chahiye”, quite a strong commentary for the times we live in.

Also, its impressive how the writer’s give Devasena’s character the confidence to question and back answer Rajmata Sivagami when she is being served with injustice, such as getting hitched for marriage without her approval.

There are some twists in the first half, that derive inspiration from mythology.

But, what everyone is waiting to watch, ‘Why Katappa Killed Baahubali’, is revealed obviously in the second half. Post-interval, we are back to the present day situation, where Devasena has finally met her son. Second half is gripping with its mix of action and emotion.

Drama being its maintstay, one cannot complain about the tedious nature of its script that shapes up to the whole mystery.

Baahubali 2: The Conclusion Review: Star Performance

Prabhas is exceptional in this film. Thanks to his amazing screen presence, you rarely look away from him. His transformation from being an assertive leader to a lovestruck Baahubali, to an emotionally hurt one is simply stunning. His layered performance shows how dedicated he has been to this project. Clearly, a career-defining role here.

Anushka Shetty as Devasena looks luminous in her princess avatar. She pulls off the action scenes equally well and has a likable chemistry with Prabhas on-screen.

Sathyaraj does a great job of playing Katappa, the prime character in this film. His comic act in the first half is quite a good break from the drama otherwise.

Rana Daggubati doesn’t get much limelight in this film. Of course, he pulls off his evil act superbly but doesn’t make a lasting impact like Prabhas. In the finale sequence, his action is classic and who can take their eyes off from his chiseled body.

Ramya Krishnan is a stunner as Sivagami. She had impressed us in the first part too and I can’t picture anyone else playing the stern leader.

Tamannah Bhatia is seen in the second half only in a handful of scenes.

Baahubali 2: The Conclusion Review: Direction, Music

S S Rajamouli’s magnum opus opened to a housefull theater on a Friday and it was a welcome change for me, who is now used to watching first day first shows in empty theaters.

Given the kind of excitement for this film, I was definitely expecting whistles and hooting at Prabhas’ entry scene and that happens. He makes a heroic entry and in that scene itself Rajamouli is gearing us up for a jaw-dropping ride in his mythical land of Mahishmati. Once again, we see the long shots of that beautiful castle made by some VFX experts. If Mahishmati was brilliant, Devasena’s Kingdom of Kunthal is even more beautiful. Rajamouli brings a disneyesque feel to it.

I’d say compared to the action and Roman inspired war sequences in the first part, the sequel has slightly more drama than action.

Nonetheless, the major face off sequence of Prabhas and Rana is simply brilliantly choreographed. It has its typical ‘south’ elements too. I mean who knew Coconut trees could be used to do that! (Watch it to find out!).

This time, Rajamouli moves beyond cliff and waterfalls, there’s a dreamy ship that flies and its almost like Disneyland.

The grandeur of Baahubali 2 is huge and like it was promised, Rajamouli makes it bigger and better. A particular bow-and-arrow sequence between Baahubali and Devasena looks amazingly romantic yet action packed.

MM Kreem’s music I felt takes a backseat in this film. Compared to the first part which had songs that were high on recall value, this one doesn’t do justice.

Sound designing is spot on and hence you truly feel those arrows hitting and every slash of the blade (swords) fiercely.

Baahubali slashing Sethupathi’s head and a pre-interval sequence, where we see the dedication of commoners towards Baahubali are powerful scenes.

Baahubali 2: The Conclusion Review: The Last Word

Baahubali 2 is as big as the first one, maybe even better. A thoroughly entertaining action drama. Watch it for super amazing Prabhas and Anushka Shetty. A 4/5 for this magnum opus!

Baahubali 2 movie review: Only if Kattappa had killed Baahubali earlier

Baahubali 2 movie review: baahubali the beginning was enormously enjoyable. baahubali the conclusion comes to life only in bits and pieces and the credit for it should goes to prabhas..

bahubali movie review 123telugu

Baahubali 2 movie cast: Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty, Tamannaah Bhatia, Ramya Krishnan, Sathyaraj, Nassar Baahubali 2 movie director: SS Rajamouli   Baahubali 2 star rating: 2 stars

For two years the nation has been wanting to know, the hysteria increasing with every passing day: why did Kattappa kill Baahubali? Smart viewers would probably have glommed the answer, but given that Baahubali 2 was made expressly for that purpose, we duly give it our time and attention.

bahubali movie review 123telugu

We get the answer, but only after long, infernally silly romantic interludes: romance is not really S S Rajamouli’s strength. And everything after the big reveal, which really isn’t half as big as was promised, seems like anti-climactic excess. At the end of nearly three hours, I can tell you that the second part is not half as satisfying or fun as the original.

And the reason is clear: sequelitis. Together with the singular lack of a plot interesting enough to hang a query on, Baahubali 2 comes off as too much sound and fury signifying little.

baahubali 2 movie review, bahubali 2, baahubali 2 review, bahubali 2 review, bahubali 2 image

The first time around the animated hi-jinks that Rajamouli created, a sort of ‘desi tadka’ version of Peter Jackson and James Cameron crossed with Amar Chitra Katha, were astonishing, both in terms of scale and setting and story telling. I was blown away by the sheer confidence and the conviction of the film-making, ignoring the risible bits and pieces.

Festive offer

And it finished on a great hook, with THAT question which we got to take home, and which got us swarming into theaters brimming with excitement: when was the last time a Telugu movie, dubbed in multiple languages including Hindi, power into multiplexes around the world, shoving aside all competition? Never.

But what took our breath away in 2014 is same old, been here, seen most of it, in 2017. Yes, it is bigger, but it is not better. And it feels much louder. The background music is relentless, and the pitch at which the declamatory dialogues are delivered is deafening: there were times I felt like closing my ears.

The clash between warring princes Baahubali (Prabhas) and Bhallala (Rana Dagubatti) is the fulcrum around which the film revolves. As we know from the first part, Baahubali is the good guy, the rightful heir to the throne, and will save his kingdom from the evil Bhallala, come what may.

The regal queen Sivagami (Ramya) is as commanding as ever, presiding over the fate of the two men, and the fiery princess Devasena ( Anushka Shetty ) gets a lot of play. Nassar’s wily old king is craftier, and Kattappa (Sathyaraj), that faithful retainer who is forced into the terrible murder, is as loyal as ever.

As in the first part, there are a few startlingly gauche parts in the man-woman skirmishes: you don’t really want a woman to call herself a ‘charnon ki daasi’ even if it’s a film set in the distant, mythical past, especially if she is a warrior princess with a strong will.

But we’ve seen it all. Only in some places where the battle scenes and the hand-to-hand combat is choreographed beautifully (there’s one spectacular balletic set-piece between Prabhas and Shetty in which they take on an attacking swarm) and with great energy do you sit up and watch with interest. A couple of times you laugh out loud in appreciation at the sheer spectacle: thousands upon thousands of soldiers, a vista that fills the eye and more, and a hero cleaving through, his eye on the win.

And that brings me to Prabhas, the only one who doesn’t drown in familiarity in a story which doesn’t know when to stop. He plays Baahubali, he of great strength, with as much verve and vigour as in the first part. Striding across the screen, his `dhoti’ and vest and armour all in the right place, he comes across as the perfect action hero, complete eye candy, and the biggest strength of the film.

I enjoyed the first part enormously. The second one comes to life only intermittently. Leaving the theatre, you can’t help wishing that Kattappa had killed the fellow earlier, for us to get a tighter, more economical and perhaps sharper conclusion.

Fans of Baahubali 2 also shared their reviews on social media. Check out some of the videos they posted on YouTube.

Baahubali 2 had a sensational opening in India, and is expected to surpass the day one records of Sultan (Rs 36.54 crore) and Dangal (Rs 29.78 crore).

The reason is that I am going to say today in absolutely clear language that the Prime Minister is demeaning himself and India with the latest twist that his campaign has taken.

The Conclusion is a film that is so in awe of its own grandiose canvas that it tends to lose sight at times of the need for tighter editing and more believable characterization. Just about everything in the film falls prey to the lure of excess.

For the most part, The Conclusion doesn't let us take our eyes off the screen. It's designed to be a cinematic celebration, one that deserves to be watched on the largest screen possible.

Baahubali 2 Review

Baahubali 2 Review, What is behind:

Baahubali is no more a movie. It became an Indian brand with salability in abroad too or in one word, the magnum opus is a National prestige. After Baahubali 1 left a section of audience waiting more for content and emotional drives, here comes Baahubali 2 releasing today in theaters amidst a hysteria unseen for a Telugu cinema. Has SS Rajamouli and team lived up to the expectations, let us know more in Baahubali 2 review part.

Baahubali 2 Story Review:

Continuing the flashback from where Kattappa (Sathyaraj) left in the first part winning over Kalakeyas, kingmaker Shivagami announces Amarendra Baahubali (Prabhas) as King of Mahishmati leaving Bijjaladeva (Naazar), Bhallaladeva (Rana) envious. Before taking up crown, Baahubali and Kattappa are sent on Desha Yatana to observe, understand the lives of common people. Here is where, Amarendra Baahubali falls in love with Kuntala Princess Devasena (Anushka) by hiding his identity. Knowing this, Bhallaladeva influences his mother to fix his marriage with the same Devasena. Unaware of Bhallaladeva and Bijjaladevaís false trap, Shivagami orders for Bhallaladeva Pattabhishekam and Baahubali-Devasena marriage.

As time passes on, Amarendra Baahubali becomes a man of masses which discomforts the King Bhallaladeva thus forcing Kattappa to kill Amarendra Baahubali with permission from Shivagami. Thus ends the flashback leaving vengeance burning Mahendra Baahubali, Avanthika directly announce war on Bhallaladeva. How Mahendra Baahubali kills Bhallaladeva in war is rest of climax.

Baahubali 2 Artists and Technicians Review:

To overcome the criticism leveled by South and importantly Telugu critics on Rajamouliís failure in following his trademark commercial format in Part 1 missing at strong emotions and genuine content, literally he impaired the holiness and purity in central characters for Part 2. For the sake of commercial screenplay, breaking the spine of Kattappa, Shivagami, Devasena is inexcusable. These characters looked upon with great respect and esteem in Part 1 has now become forced and irritating. Whatsoever, story ran on expected lines and so is the screenplay. Yet, Jakkanna scores brownie points as a firm storyteller. Couple of episodes in first half and couple more in second half made the overall narrative unyielding. Dialogues arenít really clap-worthy.

KK Senthil Kumarís camera becomes the viewerís eye. It traverses through magnificent Mahishmati, Kuntala taking us on a visual ride. Technically, Senthil is one of the best assets. Back to much talked about CG works, I would rate Baahubali 2 no way got close to Baahubali 1. Looks like Rajamouli is hurried up leaving major CG half baked. Editing by Kotagiri isnít really up to the mark and looked incoherent at many places. Thereís still a scope to chop excessive runtime. MM Keeravani, though his musical score for songs is less effective than Part 1, he is just amazing in providing the soul and essence for many episodes alone with his background. Production standards from Shobu, Prasad of ARKA Media are top notch and world class.

Onto artists, Prabhas delivered a striking performance. He looked more commanding in looks and action rather than weak dialogue delivery. None can match his elegance in royal costumes. As most of the film narrates Amarendra Baahubali story, significance of Prabhas as Mahendra Baahubali is less.

Anushka is gorgeous at places and looked pale, unexciting at other instances. Costume designing for Devasena isnít imposing. Yet, she stole the show at important portions.

Rana is literally weakened, except climax fight and cruelty in killing Baahubali. His physical appearance is inconsistent.

Sathyarajís comedy is Aravam Athi but his honesty in second half tugged the heartstrings.

Ramya Krishna, the authoritarian character in Part 1 became forced, idiotic and egotistical with loud voice here.

Naazar went overboard at times. Subba Raju is in a tested character and the one Adavi Pandi episode is unbearable. 30 Years industry Prudhvi is for namesake. Among the rest, none needs much of a mention including Tamanna.

Baahubali 2 Review Advantages:

Rajamouli Mark Commerciality

Opening Scene, Interval Block

Keeravani BGM

Senthil Camera

Visual Extravaganza

Baahubali 2 Review Drawbacks:

Inconsistent Characterizations

Mid First Half Portions

Forced Comedy

Involuntary Drama, Emotions

Baahubali Review Rating Analysis:

What made entire India and a part of world to wait for Baahubali 2 release is the closeness one has developed with characters, visual grandeur, mammoth production scale and the one question on why Kattappa killed Baahubali. More or less, Rajamouli was honest to his regular, adapted style of storytelling process and focused more on elevating the greatness in Amarendra Baahubali and Devasena forgetting the fierce negative side of story in Bhallaladeva, Bijjaladeva and Shivagami. This imbalance led to knee jerk narrative leaving no big memories in Part 2.

Beginning with superb CG in Oka Pranam song, the take-off reached zenith as and when Amarendra Baahubaliís Saahore Baahubali song with elephant episode comes on screen. This is the best of a hero introduction scene in Rajamouliís career for sure. On other side, Rana along with Kattappa, Naazar, Ramya Krishna went degraded scene by scene.

Once Bahaubali, Kattappa leaves on country side visit to fall in love with Devasena, treatment literally derailed. Entire exhaustive romantic track filled with Kattappaís Athi, Adavi Pandi hunting, Pinjariís attack on Kuntala is sub-standard. The process followed to build romantic chemistry went awry. In between, Rajamouli covered the drawbacks with Orori Raja song visuals and 10 minutes interval block. Muripala Mukunda song is tad too long. Reason how and why Devasena falls for a timid Baahubali isnít established.

Serving at commercial cinematic liberties, Baahubali 2 moves for an extra ordinary interval block of Bhalladeva Pattabhishekam and Baahubali becoming Sarva Senadhipathi. Hats Off to Keeravani for lifting this scene to next level with his BGM. Except the opening and closing scenes, first half leaves an average feel.

Second half kick starts with Baahubali, Devasena marriage and pregnancy in a rush. Again the way Devasena stands tall questioning Shivagami on Mahishmati Constitution and Laws lacked in conviction. Jakkanna never misses his mark in one episode when Baahubali cuts the throat in the centre of Devasenaís court trial. Using Subbarajuís Kumara Varma character, the plot etched for killing Baahubali through Kattappa hands could have been dealt with more potent. Once Baahubali is killed, Shivagami and Devasena dominate the show for a while with decent drama pushing the narrative back to present as Mahendra Baahubali declares war on Bhallaladeva, it is a common ritual. CG used in this lengthy war portion is good but definitely not on par with Part 1 battle fields. Climax is expected and eye feast to watch on big screen.

All in all, Baahubali 2 is targeted mainly at Telugu audience with Rajamouli mark commercial equations at the cost of making rigid, well built characters bent elastically for our convenience. This may hamper Baahubali 2 Box Office run in other languages and repeat audience in Telugu is also doubtful. Yet, the film is a visual masterpiece with dedicated efforts from Rajamouli team visible throughout. Apparently, there is a winner for sure on hand for producers and buyers but the level of appreciation, glory and reverence Rajamouli team garnered with Part 1 will be missed with Part 2. Cinejosh gives Baahubali 2 rating at 3.5 stars encouraging the illustrious endeavor from our own Telugu squad.

bahubali movie review 123telugu

Now streaming on:

Behold, the first great summer film: a three-hour action-adventure about a leader whose heroic deeds make Conan the Barbarian look like a wimp. The Indian action/period epic "Baahubali 2: The Conclusion" is everything I want but rarely get from superhero and big-budget fantasy movies. Here, larger-than-life characters—specifically a beloved warrior-king Amarendra Baahubali (Prabhas) and his jealous cousin Bhalla ( Rana Daggubati )—fight for the Mashimathi throne while declaiming dramatically, flying into thin air, impaling or beheading their enemies, then singing about their exploits.

Thanks to blessedly short flashbacks and fittingly bombastic expository dialogue, viewers of "Baahubali 2: The Conclusion" don't need to have seen the previous film to know what's at stake. Better still: the action choreography is exciting, the operatic plot is compelling, and a genuine sense of optimism undercuts the geysers of blood and thunderous sound effects that accompany the film's stirring set pieces. Here's a splashy, big-budget film with an infectious sense of momentum that wins you over any time key plot points are glossed over for the sake of establishing the next big confrontation. It's loud, it's gory, and there are musical numbers.

One sure sign of quality: despite some seriously ostentatious moralizing, "Baahubali 2" is inspired enough to make you care about characters who are as morally upstanding as Biblical figures and as relatable as refugees from a children's fairy tale. Sure, Amarendra possesses superhuman strength, agility, and filial piety (like many men in Indian movies, he worships his mom). That's only because right initially seems to make might in this universe. But as the movie goes on, it becomes clear that, despite good intentions (writ large through Frank Capra-worthy speeches) even the best people can be manipulated into committing crimes against each other. This is true of Bhalla, an innocent character whose natural jealousy is manipulated into hating his cousin by his petty father Bijjaladeva (Nassar). And it's eventually also true of both Baahubali's mother Sivagami ( Ramya Krishnan ) and uncle/adviser Kattappa (Sathyaraj).

It's refreshing to see these characters, who are often seemingly painted as paragons of virtue and vice, have their wills tested by various trials—and sometimes fail. These momentary weaknesses sometimes indicate character flaws, as in Bhalla's case. But they also sometimes suggest that good people can make big mistakes. The film's refusal to judge character solely based on how they respond to mitigating circumstances is refreshing.

So is the fact that both Sivagami and Baahubali's devoted wife Devasena ( Anushka Shetty ) have more than a token amount of influence and power throughout the film. They fight alongside Baahubali as he struggles to remain unmoved by the promise of power ( the throne!) while also not looking weak in front of his treacherous brother or his manipulative uncle. Prabhas's character isn't just admirable because of his Herculean feats of physical strength, but because of his ability to make Solomon-like judgment calls before he masterfully glares at the camera, makes a little speech, then soars into battle.

And I do mean "soar." The fight scenes in "Baahubali 2" are so creative that they make even the most frequently abused creative shortcuts seem novel, everything from computer-generated imagery (CGI) to speed-ramping (Zack Snyder's signature technique of speeding up, then slowing down, then speeding up the tempo of a particularly action or physical motion). You care what happens to the cast as, aided by wires, they hurl volleys of arrows at disposable minions and CGI animals.

You haven't seen action scenes with physics and logic-defying choreography like this before. Baahubali breaks massive chains with a mallet, brushes off mortal wounds with one hand, and launches himself over castle walls with determination and deceptive ease. He is merciless on the warpath, devastating a legion of enemy soldiers by lashing them to a tree trunk that he places in the path of a lightning bolt. Baahubali's mom wields a severed head at one point. And did I mention that there's singing? Our heroes' actions are valorized through poetic, Greek chorus-like swooning that perfectly suits the film's paradoxically arch but playful tone.

This is a refreshingly irony-free depiction of demigod-like men and the values and family members they fight to protect. And for once in what feels like a long while, this type of old-fashioned entertainment works without feeling like a throwback or an homage to a preexisting work of pop art. I love "Baahubali 2," partly because it never once felt like a soul-less, committee-assembled piece of entertainment. Many American viewers may wonder how a film that received little to no media coverage could surpass "The Circle," a new studio-produced and distributed thriller starring Tom Hanks and Emma Watson , at the US box office. But you only have to see "Baahubali 2" to know why it enjoyed such a fantastic opening weekend. It's grandiose and fun, and I pray there's a lot more where it came from.
