Background [ ]

Steven Keith Bonnell II was born on December 12, 1988 in Omaha, Nebraska . He is of half Cuban-American descent (mother's side).

Content [ ]

On March 23rd 2022, Destiny was indefinitely banned from Twitch.tv for violating the site's Community Guidelines on Hateful Conduct. No specific incident was given by Twitch to justify the ban, but Destiny believes it had to do with his claim "that transwomen shouldn't compete with ciswomen in women's athletics". [4]

Destiny played a role in the rise of Vaush and HasanAbi . Hasan lived with him for a while after he was kicked from his apartment, and Vaush was originally a fan of his and popular stream guest before starting his own streaming career. Both streamers have since distanced themselves from Destiny.

Political views [ ]

Destiny is a self-described . A comprehensive list of his political positions on his website . Destiny is a harsh critic of Former-President Donald J. Trump. During the 2020 election, he voiced his support for then presidential-candidate Joseph R. Biden.

COVID-19 [ ]

Destiny was highly critical of Donald Trump 's presidency 's actions (or inaction) during the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic . [5] He was also critical of Trump's use of the term "China-Virus", arguing that the term and that type of rhetoric had led to an increase of anti-Asian hate crimes within the United States . [ citation needed ]

As a social democrat, Destiny believes that it's important for people to vote, since it is currently one of the best ways to obtain positive change. He believes it is important to "work within the current system, build coalitions with like-minded people, and vote for the best candidates (at both a local and a national level)". [6] He supports the idea of compulsory voting . [ citation needed ]

Transidentity [ ]

Destiny is a supporter of transgender rights/acceptance and has defended the use of puberty blockers and medical transition. [7] [8] However, he does want to segregate women's sports along the line of "fairness" when poverty is the biggest cause of chronic issues in the Western world, and chronic issues are the biggest killers in that same location and causes the biggest difference in performance. [9]

The "Online Left" [ ]

Destiny is a self-described capitalist . When asked about his positions on socialism , he has stated that he isn't "married" to capitalism, but rather hasn't seen any sound arguments for whether socialism is a more effective economic system. His rejection of socialism has gotten him into several clashes with the "Online Left".

Responsible platforming [ ]

Destiny believes that most content creators have a responsibility to be informed on the topics they expose to their audience. He believes many content creators "don't read any of the material they are covering" and accuses them of being "more concerned with monetary gains, optics, and advancing their careers...". [10]

Activism [ ]

During the 2020–21 United States Senate election in Georgia , Destiny organized canvassing operations with members of his community to support Democratic candidates Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock against Republican incumbents Kelly Loeffler and David Perdue .

Destiny decided to become more involved with local politics. He organized another canvassing event during the 2021 Omaha mayoral election to support candidate Mark Gudgel. However, Gudgel later removed himself from Destiny after an article was released which brought up Destiny's critiques of rioters within BLM. [11] [12] Destiny has addressed the controversy in a video. [13] He called the article a "political hit-piece", accused the author of malicious reporting and being politically aligned with another mayoral candidate.

Controversies [ ]

Comments about blm and kyle rittenhouse [ ].

Although he is a supporter of the Black Lives Matter movement, comments he made during a debate with Vaush defending Kyle Rittenhouse generated controversy and criticism from the left, and claiming that the acts of violence from rioters towards private businesses were unjustified and counterproductive to the cause. [14] [15]

Feud with Keffals /Twitch ban [ ]

On March 22, 2022, Bonnell hosted a stream where he reacted to the Lia Thomas controversy. He criticized the notion of transgender women being in sports. Keffals would accuse him of bullying and reported him until he was banned from Twitch indefinitely, later gloating about how she "took away his primary source of income". [16] Keffals also encouraged her fanbase to harass him and even tried to get his Twitter account banned by alerting the staff that he was using an alt account to evade his old ban [17] . Many YouTubers such as Nicholas DeOrio [18] , Lauren Southern [19] and LonerBox critisized this decision because they believed that Destiny still had a right to free speech despite his opinions, as well as the fact that Destiny had been pro-LGBT in the past and there were other streamers like Hasan who did worse things and not get banned.

The harassment campaign would go as far as to blackmail his wife, telling her that if she didn't leave him, she would also be deplatformed [20] .

Keffals later criticized Bonell for going onto cozy.tv, a website founded by Nicholas J. Fuentes . This was seen as hypocritical since he would not have streamed there if Keffals hadn't gone to extreme lengths to get him banned in the first place. Later other BreadTubers would discuss this on stream [21] .

Having a nice shape was not what made me popular, whether you’re {} or not you must have content. You can’t be a star by being beautiful or fair or voluptuous. Sexiness and beauty can only make people like you but it won’t keep you there for long.
My “sexiness” didn’t give me any special privilege, although it’s an added advantage. Another thing that helped me is that I carry grace. When you have the grace to make it, no one can stop you. When you look around, there are some actors and actresses that are not fine but there is something about them that makes them successful.

Ocean of Storms

Bungie and Activision describe Destiny as a "shared world shooter," stating that the game really does not fit squarely into other genres such as FPS , RPG , or MMO . [9] [10] The game can be played solo or in small groups called "fireteams" if the player chooses, with significant parts of the game using matchmaking to ensure that the player is rarely alone. Advancement in the game focuses on obtaining progressively more powerful gear, with minimal reliance on other players to progress.

Destiny features several cooperative and competitive game modes. For a complete list, see the Activities category.

The stories tell of a golden age long ago, when our civilization spanned the system. It was a bright and hopeful time. But it didn't last.

Something hit us. Knocked us down and tried to stamp us out. No one knows exactly what, but we do know this: very few of us survived, and those that did owe their lives to .

Legends say The Traveler sacrificed itself to save us. The mysterious sphere still hangs where it made its last stand, low above the Earth, keeping silent watch.

The years that followed the collapse of the golden age were hard, but slowly we joined together to build a city beneath The Traveler. And now we've begun to venture back into the wild, only to find that we're not alone. Strange and deadly creatures have occupied our old worlds. And they're pressing hard against , probing for a weakness, trying to stamp us out for good.

Your story begins at this moment of great adventure and peril. You are a of The City; a soldier able to wield some of The Traveler's incredible power. If you can find a way to save The City -- to reclaim all that we have lost -- you will become legend. If you fail, the last light of civilization will go out.

The traveller

The Traveler hovering over the Earth's surface.

Destiny is set in the distant future, after an event referred to as the Collapse ended the Golden Age that was started by the discovery of The Traveler , and pushed humanity to the brink of extinction. The force responsible for the Collapse is known as The Darkness , and indirectly acts as the primary antagonist. Battles against the forces of The Darkness are fought at various locations throughout the Solar System.

The game begins with the player's Ghost resurrecting them as a Guardian , after having been dead for an unknown length of time. The Guardian is quickly forced to fight Fallen who have inhabited the ruins of the nearby Cosmodrome in Old Russia . The Guardian, with the aid of their Ghost, is able to secure a jumpship and escape to The Tower that houses the Guardians on The City border.

After being outfitted and introduced to the Vanguard , and Gunsmith , the duo learn from Amanda Holliday that their Arcadia Class Jumpship is missing its Warp Drive , a component necessary for interplanetary travel. Due to the scarcity of the part and flyable jumpships in general, the Guardian is forced to return to where they found the ship in an attempt to find the part.

When they return to the Cosmodrome, the duo begin their search. They quickly learn from an old terminal that there may be a Warp Drive where they first found the jumpship, in Dock 13 . As the Guardian approaches, their Ghost detects a Warp Drive, which has unfortunately already been scavenged by the Fallen. With no other feasible option, the Guardian pushes forward and engages the Fallen, defeating the Fallen Archon , Riksis in the process.

Upon their to The Tower, the duo meets The Speaker , who explains how The Traveler , in its dying breath, created the Ghosts to seek out those who can wield its Light as a weapon, to protect humanity against the mysterious force known as The Darkness , which crippled The Traveler in its last encounter. He then explains how The Darkness has returned and that humanity will not survive this time. The Guardian, wanting to help, is told to join the others fighting back against The Darkness on Earth and beyond.

In addition to the standard edition, several special editions of Destiny were made available, designed for collectors and including additional items. [17] These editions were:

Microtransactions

Despite being a persistent world game with MMO elements, there is no subscription fee for Destiny , [9] [22] however microtransactions were introduced with an update that added the Eververse Trading Company . [14]

Destiny generally received mixed-to-positive reviews. The game received a 76 out of 100 (PlayStation 4 version) on both review aggregator sites Metacritic and GameRankings, [23] [24] with critics generally praising its gameplay mechanics, artwork, and music, but criticizing its storyline, missions, and investment system. [25] [26]

In the months after Destiny 's launch, follow-up criticisms have also been mixed-to-positive, praising Bungie's responsiveness to exploits and serious player concerns, but claiming a continued lack of storyline and variety. [27] [28]

On September 10, 2014, Activision claimed that Destiny was the most successful new gaming franchise launch in history, as the game shipped more than $500 million to retail stores and first-parties worldwide. [29] As of February 5, 2015, the game has 16 million registered players, and of the active accounts playing the game, players average over three hours of gameplay per day. [30]

Destiny was the third best-selling retail game in the United States in 2014. [30]

The soundtrack is composed by Martin O'Donnell in collaboration with Michael Salvatori and Paul McCartney , [31] and is largely composed of orchestral and choral themes that match the mood and intensity of particular situations in the game.

The original Destiny trademark as registered in 2009.

The Destiny trademark was registered on July 20, 2009 by a privately held Bungie affiliate, [32] and has since been assigned to Bungie. [33]

Within Bungie, the project's codename prior to reveal was "Tiger." [34] For months, Bungie itself was silent as to the title of its new project, but on February 10, 2013, confirmed the name " Destiny " via a news post on its front page. [35]

On February 17, 2013, in coordination with a media blitz , Bungie and Activision officially revealed Destiny through a video documentary and reveal trailer entitled Pathways Out of Darkness .

New Legends Will Rise.

Destiny 2 is an open-world multiplayer first-person shooter title video game developed by Bungie . It is the sequel to the shared-worlds FPS Destiny , and was released on September 6, 2017 on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 platforms. It was released on October 24, 2017 for PC, initially through Blizzard Entertainment's Battle.net service. [6] [2] Due to Bungie splitting from Activision on January 10, 2019 and is now self-publishing the game, Destiny 2 has been available on Steam since October 1, 2019 and has since been removed from the Battle.net service. As part of Bungie's plans to expand Destiny 2 to new platforms after their acquisition by Sony on July 15, 2022, Destiny 2 was added to the Epic Games Store on August 23, 2022. It was released on November 19, 2019 for the Google Stadia cloud gaming service, but was discontinued on January 18, 2023 following the shutdown of the Google Stadia servers. It was released on December 8, 2020 on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S platforms.

Plot [ edit ]

Humanity's last safe city has fallen to an overwhelming invasion force, led by Ghaul, the imposing commander of the brutal Red Legion. He has stripped the city's Guardians of their power, and forced the survivors to flee. You will venture to mysterious, unexplored worlds of our solar system to discover an arsenal of weapons and devastating new combat abilities. To defeat the Red Legion and confront Ghaul, you must reunite humanity's scattered heroes, stand together, and fight back to reclaim our home. [7] [8] [9]

The game's story focuses on the Light , what happens when it gets taken from the Guardians , the lengths they'll go to to get it back, and Ghaul's coveting of it. The Darkness is not explained until Shadowkeep . [10]

On Mercury , the Ghost of a legendary Warlock is found on the planet's sands. She, and the Guardian are the only hope to prevent the Vex from taking over everything.

The Traveler 's awakening of its long sleep was a sign of good things to come, and of dark threats. On Mars, an ancient Golden Age's weapon Rasputin awakens, and below the Red planet surface, an ancient evil resurface.

On the Prison of Elders , a group of dangerous criminals, led by Uldren Sov , escape of the prison, striking down the Vanguard of Hunters , Cayde 6 . On the Tangled Shore , a pursuit of revenge, is taking in motion.

On the Moon , an ancient evil awakens after centuries of slumber. It brings the omen of the end of everything.

On the iced lands of Europa a Fallen House is growing in power, leaded by a dreaded Baroness. They wield the power of the Darkness , to carry over their plans.

On the reappared Mars , the Witch Queen has settled her Throne World . The Guardian must explore this realm of madness to uncover its secrets... and discover horrible truths.

The Witness , sworn enemy of the Guardians, and of everything, has finally arrived. Its newest Disciple , the Emperor Calus leads an invasion to a previously hidden city on Neptune, to find a long forgotten artifact, the Veil . The Guardian must reach this artifact before Calus, or everything will be doomed.

Decades, centuries, millennia and eons, all of it was for this moment. The Witness has transformed the Traveler, and gone somewhere beyond reach. From your resting place, on Old Russia , on the ruins of civilization on the Cosmodrome , to the Moon deepest and darkest regions, to the furthest corners of this long-abandoned Sol System , and to realms beyond all believe. Facing all sorts of enemies and foes; from mere ambitious pirates, to time-altering war machines, and to even eldritch, nightmarish horrors in the Hive. Appearances [ edit ]

Features [ edit ]

Destiny 2 included 4 new Patrol zones two of which were removed, Nessus , Io , Titan , and the European Dead Zone , the largest open world ever made by Bungie , filled to the brim with new enemies, weapons, armor, and activities such as public events, dungeons known as "Lost Sectors", mini-quests called adventures, and much more to do and explore.

The game features downloadable content, but the DLC will be released after the base game. [11] The first two expansion packs will be centered around the cult of the exiled Warlock Osiris , as well as the ancient Warmind Rasputin for expansions 1 and 2, respectively. The third and largest expansion will focus on the death of Cayde-6 and hunting down the barons of the Tangled Shore . Players that have preordered Destiny 2 with the year 1 expansion pass will automatically receive access to the first two expansions upon release for the general public to purchase.

Character aesthetics such as face, sex, markings, etc. can be preserved and carried over for old players from Destiny 1 , as long as those characters have both reached Level 20 and have completed The Black Garden Story mission. Everything aside from aethstetics do not transfer over to Destiny 2, in order to make the game feel like a fresh start and not a direct continuation of the original game. " Veteran accounts " are given " honors that reflect their Destiny 1 accomplishments ". The Grimoire does not feature. The lore is implemented directly throughout Destiny 2 . This includes a scanning feature that largely replaces the old system. [12] In Forsaken , the Triumphs tab was added, allowing players to accrue lore throughout the game, functioning like an in-game version of Grimoire from the original game.

Destiny 2 featured an all-new cinematic campaign with a host of new Story missions and cutscenes that form a story unlike that seen in its predecessor. The first mission, Homecoming , sends Guardians on a journey to take back The Last City and the Traveler from the Red Legion , led by Dominus Ghaul , who has a brief cameo in the first mission, explaining his intentions.

New cooperative missions [ edit ]

Strikes return in Destiny 2 as 1-3 player cooperative activities, each featuring a more difficult Nightfall setting.

New competitive multiplayer [ edit ]

The Crucible functions differently in Destiny 2. All game modes feature two teams of four for every game mode. In-game, there is a new HUD that gives the player information on the enemy team, like when their Super is ready, or when and where they picked up ammo for their power weapons. There are also brand new maps and game modes. One of the new game modes, for example, is called Countdown , which is the first attack-defend game mode in the Crucible, similar to Call of Duty's Search and Destroy. The radar is also modified, with the detection radius being fixed, as opposed to it scanning until it finds an enemy. Modes/Playlists:

  • Supremacy (Quickplay Playlist)
  • Clash (Quickplay Playlist)
  • Control (Quickplay Playlist)
  • Countdown (Competitive Playlist)
  • Survival (Competitive Playlist)

New challenging Raids [ edit ]

Destiny 2 featured a Raid known as Leviathan , taking place within the enormous ship of the same name . Two Raid Lairs were added during the Year 1 expansions, Eater of Worlds with Curse of Osiris and Spire of Stars with Warmind . With Forsaken , a new Raid known as Last Wish was added. Season of the Forge added a new Raid called Scourge of the Past ,and the Season of Opulence featured Crown of Sorrow . In the Shadowkeep expansion, the Raid, Garden of Salvation was added. With the expansion, Beyond Light , Deep Stone Crypt was added, while putting all of the above Raids except Last Wish and Garden of Salvation in the Destiny Content Vault . During Beyond Light' s year, in Season of the Splicer , the popular Raid from Destiny 1 , Vault of Glass has returned. With The Witch Queen expansion, the Vow of the Disciple Raid was added. Season of Plunder brings back another Destiny 1 classic Raid, King's Fall . When the Lightfall expansion came out, the Root of Nightmares Raid arrived, where we finally encountered a character we have heard about a long time ago.

New Patrol modes [ edit ]

Patrol activities in Destiny 2 feature all activities from the Patrol Mode of its predecessor: patrol missions, Public Events , materials, and loot chests. However, there are also be new heroic objectives, Adventures , treasure maps and Lost Sectors to explore. To assist in exploring these areas, players are able to use a map that marks all activities.

New travel destinations [ edit ]

Destiny 2 features four new destinations: European Dead Zone , Titan , Io , and Nessus , with Mercury and Hellas Basin on Mars being added with Curse of Osiris and Warmind respectively. Year 2 added the Tangled Shore and The Dreaming City locations. The Season of Opulence added The Tribute Hall . Each feature their own detailed environments.

Weapon system [ edit ]

Before patch 2.0.0, the weapon slots in Destiny 2 were occupied by Kinetic, Energy, and Power weapons respectively. Kinetic guns had no elemental attribute, otherwise functioning exactly as energy weapons, which were charged with Void , Solar or Arc light. Some special weapons in Destiny , like fusion rifles and sniper rifles were moved into the power category. Weapons in this category were elementally charged and included weapons like rocket launchers and grenade launchers .

Subclasses [ edit ]

All classes in Destiny 2 each get another exclusive subclass to replace the Sunsinger , Defender , and Bladedancer . Warlocks get access to the Dawnblade , which allows them to wield a sword of fire which enables them to send of waves of flames at enemies. Titans get access to the Sentinel , which allows them to wield a shield that they can use to block damage and as either a blunt melee weapon or ranged throwing weapon. Hunters get access to the Arcstrider , which allows them to wield a spear of electricity that they can use to quickly slash everything on their path. There are a total of 9 subclasses in the game. In Forsaken a new tree has been added for each subclass. Hunters got for the Gunslinger the Blade Barrage, for the Nightstalker the Spectral Blades and for the Arcstrider the Whirling Guard. Titans got for the Striker the Thundercrash, for the Sentinel the Banner Shield and for the Sunbreaker the Burning Maul. Warlocks got for the Dawnblade the Well of Radiance, for the Stormcaller the Chaos Reach and for the Voidwalker the Nova Warp. There are also some new subclasses from Beyond Light which are known as Stasis , this includes the Revenant for the Hunter, the Behemoth for the Titans and the Shadebinder for the Warlocks. Following the release of Lightfall a new subclass know as Strand was released with new abilites for all classes. This included the Hunter Threadrunner , Warlock Broodweaver , and Titan Berserker .

On the 6th and 7th of December, 2023 Destiny removed and blocked Melina on his social media [2] , said in chat that he "is out" and that she needs to pack up her belongings before he gets back to Miami on the 9th of December. The two have officially been divorced and signed a postnuptial agreement. [3]

Divorce Streams

Three major streams have occurred regarding Destiny and Melina's divorce, each more intense and revealing than the last. Destiny's personal reflections and Memetix/Melina's overt lies about the divorce to mutual friends and other streamers behind the scenes have led to these escalating streams.

December 11th, 2023

On December 11th, 2023 Destiny streamed what would later be referred to as the "cuck stream". [4] Wherein he apologized for leaking messages in DGG chat, apologizes to his audience for "baiting" with a formal manifesto, and gives a brief overview of the events that transpired leading to their divorce. Destiny explains that after speaking with his therapist he realized it would be for the best to not disparage Melina or her new boyfriend too much publically, and leaves the door open for a potential return should she wish to come back once enough time transpires.

December 19th, 2023

On December 19th, 2023 Destiny announced in DGG chat that he would be going into detail regarding the circumstances of their divorce. [5] Destiny was prompted to do this seemingly after finding out Melina and Memetix said on stream that Destiny had been lying about things he said in chat on December 7th. Destiny's main goal with this discussion was to fight a few widespread impressions that irk him [6] :

  • He is a horrible abusive one-sided terrible person that Melina escaped.
  • He is unsure how many people have heard "insane" things about him behind the scenes as a result of Melina providing her one-sided perspective.
  • He is not happy with the things Memetix and Melina accusing him of lying about with regards to the circumstances of their divorce and relationship. Destiny then points out that his claims are easily backed up by logs, and that it would be incredibly stupid of him to lie.
  • He wants to give a very broad accounting of the things that happened.

Shortly after announcing his intentions in DGG chat, Destiny streamed for two hours and divulged much more information regarding the circumstances of the divorce. [7] . At the beginning of the stream, Destiny noted that at least five mutual friends had reached out to him, implying that he had been untruthful about many things and had been abusive towards Melina. He then provided a timeline of events since December 7th leading up to their divorce. He talked about Melina's tendency to exaggerate and emotionally rewrite the history of their interactions, and her practice of sharing personal details of their relationship with outsiders, which he likened to creating '50 Bob7s'. He expressed his frustration with people weaponizing their emotions against him and friends who try to find a middle ground in their disputes. Destiny highlighted that most of his arguments with Melina revolved around statements of fact, leaving little room for disagreement. Finally, he discussed the rules in their open relationship that, in his view, were designed to set him up for failure, and he mentioned Melina’s request for $100,000 for her apartment in Sweden.

December 21st, 2023

On December 21st, 2023, Destiny responded to Henry Resilient's video, in which Henry accused Destiny of lying about the circumstances surrounding his and Melina's divorce and the allegations against Memetix. [8] [9] Chat logs of an interview between Memetix and Henry regarding the situation are provided, the contents of which spur Destiny to go into more detail than prior streams regarding the circumstances of the divorce and the events leading up to it. Following a reaction to the video, Destiny provided the following guideline with regards to the circumstances that would allow him to disclose more information publicly [10] :

  • Destiny dislikes the public impression of being labled a cheater/abuser/horrible person. Destiny would also like to combat the potential videos from other content creators that would result should he and Melina split, as they will have a warped perception regarding the events that transpired.
  • Destiny gets very nervous when individuals spread false, character damaging, information about himself behind the scenes. By December 21st, 2023, Melina and Tim have reached out to 8 different mutual friends with lies.
  • Pettiness, there is much Destiny would be able to leak if his goal was to simply damage the other parties involved.

Following his listing of these rules, Destiny states that the "golden trifecta" has been achieved, and thanked Tim(Memetix) for enabling him to speak about some things more openly. [11] ‌

Timeline of events

  • Late July to Early August, Melina was forced to return to Sweden to deal with a tax dispute and the formal criminal charges filed against her as a result of it. While this was occuring, Destiny and Melina were fighting over two friendships he was forced to burn relating to Melina's habit of divulging intimate details regarding some of the problems in their relationship to these individuals(aka creating Bob7s). [12]
  • Early August, while Destiny is the United States, Melina meets a new group of friends in Sweden. She assured Destiny that these friends were "cool", explaining they were either gay, platonic, or involved in other relationships. This group included Memetix, with whom Melina started hanging out as friends. Melina initially reassures Destiny that their friendship will be "platonic and cool", Destiny is skeptical. Shortly thereafter, Memetix ends up cheating on a girl he was with and has sex with Melina and the two are soon officially dating. [13]
  • Mid to late August, the relationship between Melina and Memetix progresses. Melina informs Destiny that Memetix is quite clingy, while Melina wants space. Destiny jokes that this is similar to their dynamic(Melina being clingy while Destiny wants space). Destiny eventually discovers that the two have been frequently staying over at one another's apartments for several weeks. Melina does not inform Destiny of this until he asks explicitly, which Destiny is irked by. [14]
  • Sometime around September, Melina's trial date approaches, and Destiny has a very "slutty" trip planned. Near the end of his "trip", Melina has her court date and wants Destiny present for it. The two had been fighting during this time, as Melina wanted Destiny to stay with her in Sweden for three months to support her while the legal issues were being discussed. Destiny feels he's already helping the best ways he can(managing tax issues, finding big 4 accountants to assist in the dispute, etc). While Melina feels irked as she is constantly questioned as to why Destiny isn't in Sweden supporting her, and she is unsure how to defend him. [15]

destiny biography

  • Destiny eventually returns to his Florida apartment, streams once, then flies out to Sweden for ten days. Upon arriving in Sweden, Destiny notes that he feels underappreciated despite assisting Melina through her legal dispute. He eventually discovers that Memetix was essentially living with Melina while she was stuck in the country. Destiny's first night in Sweden, the two have a conversation about their past hookups, and argued over a boundary Destiny was accused of breaking by having hookups in the bed of their United States apartment. Initially, Melina claimed to be a germaphobe, but later admitted her real concern was about others being in her bed. Destiny felt irritated by this, especially since Memetix was constantly in Melina's apartment and appeared to be sharing her bed. Destiny eventually sits through the Swedish court hearing, and things go well. Once they arrive in the apartment, Melina allegedly engages in much shitty behavior towards Destiny.
  • A few days following the court appearance, Destiny and Melina receive word that she will be able to receive her passport back soon. Destiny has a discussion with Melina, and remarks that he does not think Memetix will be okay with Melina returning to the United States as the two have been "glued" to each other for two months straight. Melina reassures Destiny that Memetix is poly and very okay with her leaving.
  • Around October 8, 2023 Melina retrieves her passport from the courthouse and returns to the apartment appearing visibly stressed after an interaction she had with Memetix. She informs Destiny that Memetix believes Destiny is way too toxic for her, and he can't stand to see her in so much pain. Memetix gives Melina the ultimatum to either divorce Destiny or leave him. Memetix then claims that a few of Melina's friends have said Destiny and her do need to break up due to the toxicity in their relationship. Upon seeing Melina's hesitation to respond, Memetix(knowing Melina has abandonment issues), lashes out and says "this is why everybody you've ever loved has left you Melina", and promptly storms down the street. Destiny and Melina have a thirty minute conversation regarding the state of their relationship. During the conversation, Destiny maintains that he is happy with the state of their relationship despite the fights, and notes that Memetix has done some strange things as of late that might make a relationship with him difficult. A few hours later, Memetix began sending apologetic direct messages to Melina, insisting they needed to talk immediately. When Melina asked Destiny if she should respond, he advised against it. Melina then told Memetix they could talk the next day. In response, Memetix claimed he was walking outside and feeling suicidal. Melina then chats with Memetix for two hours, in an attempt to calm him down. Destiny felt optimistic, believing Melina would end the relationship due to Memetix's abusive behavior. He never explicitly told her to stop talking to Memetix, assuming she would naturally cut off contact after such an incident. The next day Memetix would go on to say he didn't actually threaten suicide, and was just having suicidal feelings. [16]
  • October 8, 2023 Melina reaches out to some of her friends to corroborate Memetix's accusations that they had wanted Melina to get out of her relationship with Destiny. She eventually confirms that Memetix had been lying. [17]
  • October 20, 2023 Destiny and Melina get into a fight(while in Las Vegas) because Tim was saying you can't raise children in a poly relationship, or with an American. The fight heats up, and she asks him if he's on his meds and implies that could be the cause of his poor mood. [18] [19] Destiny was not initially aware that Melina would be available for TwitchCon, and regrettably had to cancel several planned sexual endeavors as a result. Upon noticing that Melina had been texting Memetix for several hours on the third day of TwitchCon(after assuming she had cut him off as a result of his prior behavior), an irate Destiny storms off and goes to some of his planned hookups.

destiny biography

  • Destiny and Melina return to Miami. Melina gets really irritated upon discovering that Memetix had been cuddling with a close friend of Melina's in her Sweden apartment. Upon pressing her, Destiny is shocked to discover that Memetix has a key to Melina's apartment, and that Tim is allowed to invite girls back to her apartment to have sex with. Destiny then informs Melina that he will do "whatever the fuck" he wants in the bed of his apartment, and if she is not happy with that she can leave. Destiny streams that day, and Melina has a 5 hour call with Memetix and the friend he hooked up with, she claims the conversation went well. [21]
  • Melina eventually finds out that Memetix is lying to her mutual friends about her. Destiny gives her some advice, and informs her to reach out to some of these friends before Memetix attempts to. Destiny eventually discovers that multiple friends(who have likely been contacted by Memetix), no longer respond to his messages.
  • Destiny takes Melina to the airport, and informs her that he feels like he'll never see her again. He remains optimistic however, and assumes Melina will eventually phase Memetix out of her life(pointing to his past toxic behavior). [22]
  • Within a week of returning to Sweden, Memetix and Melina are close again. Destiny is worried at this point, as he is unsure if Melina is getting "mind-fucked" into an abusive relationship, as she is beginning to slip on some of her business obligations, is cutting contact from some of her friends, and appears distant in their calls. Melina has an interview at one point, and when she begins speaking positively about Destiny, Memetix angrily storms out of the apartment. [23]
  • Destiny attempts to reach out to Melina's father and sister to see if they can provide him info regarding Melina's status. He eventually finds out that Melina and Memetix have been informing any mutuals that Destiny is having a "crazy-manic episode" and to avoid speaking with him. Destiny is in contact with a mutual friend of theirs, and they inform Destiny that she can't hang out with Melina without Memetix being there. Destiny eventually blocks Melina on Instagram, stating he can't stand seeing Melina post pictures with such a toxic and manipulative individual. Destiny calls his therapist and sets up a 5-hour group therapy session when Melina returns to the United States, and begins putting together a manifesto. Destiny then has a 3 hour long conversation with a close friend, and eventually concludes that their relationship troubles aren't entirely Memetix's fault. [24]

destiny biography

  • Melina returns from Sweden. Upon picking her up from the airport, he sees Melina is wearing a hoodie with Memetix's name printed on the front. Destiny refrains from interacting with Melina over the course of the next few days while she's back in the United States. [25]
  • On the day of their therapy session, Destiny, believing that the discussion would not be fruitful and "seeing the writing on the wall", walks to the bank with Melina to withdraw his money(~$115,000).The two then have their 5 hour long therapy session with their therapist, Stacy. Destiny feels good at this point. Melina allegedly agrees to this as they have decided to take a break for 6 months, and Destiny wants to protect his assets. [26] [27]
  • Melina is very upset one day as Memetix has cheated on her with multiple other individuals while she has been in the United States. Melina is more open to the boundaries Destiny set in therapy at this point, and in turn establishes "strange" ones(i.e. not judging her for working so much, something Destiny has never complained about, and giving Melina freedom). Destiny notes that the boundaries Melina set seem like they would not work in a relationship with Memetix.
  • December 7, 2023 Destiny and Melina have a conversation which ended horribly(Melina confided in Memetix details regarding their personal relationship). Destiny is irate at this point, and accuses Melina of running damage control for Memetix, and implies that Memetix knows more about their relationship than Destiny knows about her. Destiny wanted her to be gone with all her shit by the the time he got home on December 9th. Later that night, Destiny had a short conversation with her in dms(Destiny admits he is fairly irate at this point, and the messages he sent could be perceived as "unhinged"). Melina's responses were described as loving yet cold and detached, and fairly logical. Destiny noted that she was denying things she had previously confessed to doing. Unable to sleep, Destiny started typing things about their relationship in the DGG chat that he later regretted. Destiny has a 15-page manifesto ready to go at this point. That day, Destiny appears as a guest on two shows, Jubilee and the Whatever podcast. Destiny and Melina are seperated for two days at this point, and he has solicited much feedback from many mutuals regarding their interaction. After these conversations, Destiny sends an apologetic message to Melina for his seemingly unhinged behavior, and messages in DGG chat(Destiny was blocked on all socials at this point so he sent it through a mutual). [28]
  • Destiny messages Melina, inquiring what she means when she says she will "go on break", and asks if she will restrict herself romantically and sexually from Memetix. Melina responds that she will not, and Destiny concludes that Melina simply wants to try out a relationship with Memetix and crawl back to him if it doesn't work out.
  • December 11, 2023 Destiny has a three-hour discussion with his therapist, Stacy, about their relationship and his struggles to understand some of Melina's behaviors. Stacy advised Destiny to focus on achieving a specific outcome, warning against actions that could lead to a less desirable result. Following the therapy, he managed to get Melina to sign a postnuptial agreement. Later that day, Destiny spent two hours talking with a friend about the situation. [29]
  • Destiny later does the "cuck" stream, wherein he apologizes for his unhinged behavior, leaking details regarding his relationship in dgg, and leaves the door open for Melina's return. [30]
  • December 12, 2023 Destiny notices a few passive aggressive tweets from Melina(which he viewed through dummy social media accounts). Destiny has his birthday party and notably did not receive a happy birthday from Melina :( . Destiny claims he is "chilling" at this point, and is happy where things are left. [31]
  • December 13, 2023 people start messaging Destiny about things Melina has been saying. Most of the mutual friends allegedly believe Melina, despite her tendency to not divulge the full story of any fight they may have. [32] Destiny believes Melina will never leak anything, because she knows everything about this makes her look like a "satanic demon" [33] . Notable messages include "I'm so glad I got out of that, I never want to go back to this horrible person, I realized how much of an abuser he is... I can't believe he lied and tried to make everybody sympathetic for him...". Destiny is taken aback by these messages, as they were in response to his "cuck-stream". Destiny begins to retrofit actions melina did in the past, and everything starts to make sense. Destiny says fuck everyone who made him walk back his initial assessment of things. Upon seeing the aforementioned messages from Melina regarding their relationship, Destiny rents an attorney, got the divorce papers, printed them up, sent them to melina to sign by monday. The papers were signed almost immediately, notarized, and the court accepted everything. [34]
  • Melina reaches out to Destiny. She allegedly never truly wanted to get a divorce, and had recently received a message relating to her Sweden apartment. The Florida courts accepted the paperwork for their divorce, the day before Melina received a notice relating to her apartment. She claims he owes her money($100,000) for her apartment in Sweden. The two have a forty minute call later that day. During their conversation, Destiny compared himself to Neo, claiming he could detect each lie and pivot Melina made in real time. He challenged every assertion Melina presented, consistently asking for logs or evidence to back her claims, which she was unable to provide. Melina notably calls Destiny an emotionally stunted child that surrounds himself with yes-men during the call. [35] [36]

Financial fallout of divorce

Destiny stated that there is no noticeable financial burden on his end as a result of the divorce. He goes on to say that the two have no joint assets, no kids, and live in Florida(the state has disfavorable laws for short-term marriages), and even if she wanted to fight she would likely receive nothing. [37]

Memetix chat logs during the December 19th stream

destiny biography

Memetix appeared in chat while Destiny was recounting the events of his divorce and attempted multiple times to egg Destiny on. Notably, upon Memetix's allegation that he has a recording of Destiny requesting he kill himself, Destiny remarks he did say as much and requests that Memetix be a "man of his word"(in reference to Memetix threatening to take his own life on multiple occasions). [38]

During the December 21st stream, Destiny remarks that Memetix might be getting "super mind fucked right now" judging by the way he types in chat. He cautioned Memetix that Melina had been lying frequently over the past six months, and suggests that this might explain the apparent confidence behind some of Memetix's statements. [39]

Darius Situation

Destiny explains that Melina was 100% unequivocally wrong, and exaggerated/lied about everything having to do with the situation. Destiny goes on to claim that because it ended up in a place she didn't like, she emotionally rewrote their interactions to make it seem like DariusIRL was a clingy abusive loser the entire time. [40] Destiny then claims he did not want to intervene in their personal drama which is why he let Darius get "dragged", however he did communicate with the two behind the scenes individually. [41]

Melina's request for $100,000

Melina reached out(through a mutual) to Destiny twelve days after blocking him on all platforms. Destiny assumed Melina reached out to him as a result of her receiving some sort of notice regarding the status of her apartment the day after the divorce papers were notarized. [42] She asserts Destiny owes her money for her apartment in Sweden, and if he wants to do what is morally right he should pay for her apartment in Sweden. Destiny responds that Melina is out of her mind, and suggests that Memetix get a job to pay off the amount due. Some time passes, and Melina wants to know where Destiny is at with regards to the apartment situation. Destiny states he's at the message he sent an hour ago, they have a 40 minute call. Melina starts lying throughout the convo, and destiny has logs on hand to disprove her(Destiny claims he felt like neo during this conversation).

Memetix streamed some time later, and said there was lies in the logs Destiny had released. [43] Melina argued that Destiny lied about paying rent for her other boyfriend who moved into her Swedish apartment without Destiny's knowledge. Destiny admitted that, technically, he had not paid for her apartment. However, he explained that by covering all of Melina's living expenses while she lives in America, it's akin to indirectly funding her ability to pay for her Swedish apartment. This arrangement allows Melina to use her own money for the apartment in Sweden, which she has owned since before their relationship began. Therefore, Destiny's support in the US essentially enabled Melina to maintain her Swedish apartment.

As justification for the amount she requested from Destiny, Melina asserts that she abandoned all her things in Sweden for him. [44]

Destiny then pulls up logs from the first year of their relationship wherein the couple fought over Melina's desire to stay in New Zealand, her hating Sweden, and her hating having to come to the United States. When the two fought, Melina would frequently bring up how Destiny seemingly pulled her from her dream country and dropped her in a country she hates(Sweden), to which Destiny responded that she was engaged with a guy two weeks after she arrived in New Zealand.

TCBrady's involvement

destiny biography

Destiny stated that he could corroborate almost everything Melina discussed with him through shared logs. [45] As an example, Destiny provided direct messages between Melina and a loyal dgger, TCBrady, as evidence of her reaching out to mutual friends. Brady’s actions later earned him a front-runner position for DGGer of the year in The Destiny Awards , which he would go on to win. [46]

Bob7 clones and relationship rules/dynamics

Bob7 "clones".

destiny biography

Destiny maintains his position that Bob was a piece of shit, who was talking shit behind the scenes. There are multiple people that Melina dumped everything about their relationship to, these people have all eventually gone on to hate destiny. The justification for this "trauma-dumping" was always: "5 years of trauma, and because you traumatize me when you cheated." Destiny admits he did in fact cheat, but some of the rules were set up to make him fail, as there were many qualifiers with regards to girls he could hook-up with. [47]

Destiny asserted that Melina has caused more people to be cut out of his life by bringing their relationship drama to these individuals. During one particular argument, Destiny asked Melina if she thought she was in the wrong in some of those instances, to which she replied no. The day after, Memetix continued with what Destiny described as manipulative, abuser-like behavior, and Melina suggested that Destiny should talk to him. This led to two days of intense conversations with Memetix, which Destiny characterized as "autistic." He then questioned why Melina hadn't had conversations with any of the people with whom her actions had damaged his friendships, particularly those who hadn't threatened self-harm, citing ErisAnn as an example. [48]

Cheating and Relationship dynamics

Destiny cited his hook-up with a girl in San Francisco and his prompt disclosure to Melina the next morning as an example of what Melina considered to be instances of Destiny "cheating." In contrast, he mentioned an incident where Melina, while traveling in Europe with two individuals(whom she claimed to not be involved with romantically), only shared her activities with these individuals upon Destiny’s direct inquiry. While Melina was on this trip, she requested Destiny not hook-up with a certain girl while she traveled. Agreeing to her request, Destiny later received a call from a crying Melina, confessing that she had hooked up with the two aforementioned individuals. [49]

When Destiny discovered that Memetix had cheated on his previous girlfriend to be with Melina, and that they were now dating, he was surprised. He recalled how Melina had previously expressed that cheating was one of the worst actions someone could commit, yet she was now in a relationship with someone who had cheated to be with her. Destiny went on to remark that the relationship dynamic between Melina and Memetix, was quite similar to the relationship between himself and Melina. In that Tim is clingy, while Melina wants space(as opposed to Destiny wanting space and Melina being clingy). Destiny goes on to provide the example of Melina and Memetix being at a restaurant with other friends, Memetix wanting to go home, Melina wanting to stay, and Memetix proceeding to send several messages to Melina informing her she is being unfair and needs to return home immediately. [50]

Inconsistent relationship rules

One of Destiny's primary critiques of his former relationship with Melina, is the inconsistency in which certain rules were applied:

Destiny felt he was held to a much higher standard when it came to "information informing" regarding potential relationships. i.e. Destiny would have to inform of potential new partners immediately, and still receive criticism, while Melina would not inform Destiny of new partners/hookups until asked. He likens this to eventually discovering that Memetix was in Melina's apartment nearly every day, and Melina not informing him until he explicitly asked. [51]

Additionally, Destiny perceived an inconsistent application of their rule about potential hookups in their shared bed. Melina would consistently say she's germaphobic when pressed on this issue. When the two argue about this boundary in Sweden, it eventually comes to be clear that Melina is not a germaphobe, and simply does not want Destiny's hookups in their bed. Destiny takes issue with this as Memetix is in Melina's Swedish apartment all the time, and seems to be sharing her bed. In response, Melina asserted that since she fully paid for the Swedish apartment, she could use it as she wished. Destiny countered this argument by pointing out that he pays for their apartment in the United States. This situation limited his ability to use a significant part of their U.S. apartment, whereas Melina had complete freedom in her Swedish apartment. [52] This issue flared up once more, once Destiny discovered that Melina had allowed Memetix to bring girls back to her Sweden apartment to hook up in her bed. [53]

Melina's disapproval of Destiny's partners, whom she saw as toxic to their relationship, and her maintenance of a relationship with Memetix, who openly wanted Melina to cut off Destiny, created another pain point. Destiny remarked that if there was a girl trying to debate him out of dating Melina, she would be losing her mind. [54]

Synopsis [ ]

Certain elements copied from Destiny Wiki and DestinyPedia

The stories tell of a golden age long ago, when our civilization spanned the system. It was a bright and hopeful time. But it didn't last. Something hit us. Knocked us down and tried to stamp us out. No one knows exactly what, but we do know this: very few of us survived, and those that did owe their lives to The Traveler. And they're pressing hard against The City, probing for a weakness, trying to stamp us out for good. Your story begins at this moment of great adventure and peril. You are a Guardian of The City; a soldier able to wield some of The Traveler's incredible power. If you can find a way to save The City -- to reclaim all that we have lost -- you will become legend. If you fail, the last light of civilization will go out. ― Reveal Trailer - Official Destiny ViDoc: Pathways Out of Darkness [2]

Setting [ ]

Destiny is set in the distant future in a post-apocalyptic setting. Humans had spread and colonized the Solar System with the help of a spherical entity known simply as "the Traveler" who reshaped planets and moons, and taught humanity new technologies and mystical powers that led to a time later called the Golden Age. An event known as "The Collapse", an attack from the Darkness, an unknown faction or entity, saw the dissolution of these colonies and left mankind on the brink of extinction. The only known survivors of the Collapse are those living on Earth, who were saved by the Traveler. The Traveler hovers above the last remaining human city as a large spherical body, and its presence gives the Guardians of the City—the last defenders of the human race—the ability to wield an unknown power.

Upon mankind's first attempt to repopulate and reconstruct after the Collapse, it was discovered that hostile alien races have occupied mankind's former colonies and civilizations. The player takes on the role of a Guardian of the City, and is tasked with investigating and destroying these threats before the remnants of humanity are completely wiped out.

Centuries after the Collapse, a stray hovering robot known as a Ghost wanders through the ruins outside the Cosmodrome in Russia, searching for something. It finds the player's character among the ancient remains, and revives them, calling them a Guardian. Ghost leads the player out of the Cosmodrome and back to The Last City of humanity after finding a ship, and introduces the player to the people of the Tower. The Guardian returns to the Cosmodrome to explore; after slaying an Archon of the House of Devils that game from an enemy race called the Fallen, the player gains an audience with the Speaker, the person who is in charge of the safety of humanity who claims to hear the Traveler speak, who confides in them that the Darkness is returning, and that the player must help protect the City any way they can.

The player makes two important discoveries while in the Cosmodrome; the first is that an undead alien race known as the Hive, who had slain countless Guardians after they were beaten back to the Moon, have returned to Earth to prepare for an invasion. The second is that Rasputin, a Golden Age defense A.I. network in charge of protecting humanity from exterrestrial threats, has survived the Collapse, and has restored contact with the rest of the solar system. The player travels to the Moon to investigate the Hive threat; they receive an urgent message that the Hive are attempting to drain the Traveler of its Light, and that they must be stopped at all costs. However, they also run into a mysterious person known as "the Stranger," who tells them to meet her on Venus to stop another rising threat.

After stopping the Hive ritual, the player travels to Venus and discovers the Vex, a machine race bent on dominating reality itself. The Stranger tells the player that the only way to stop the Vex and save the Traveler is to enter a location known as the Black Garden and destroy its heart. The Black Garden is a realm isolated from space and time and often described as the birthplace of the Vex. The player seeks counsel with the Awoken, a humanoid group of people who tried to escape Earth that disappeared in a spacetime anomaly during the Collapse. Queen Mara Sov tells them that the only way into the Garden is to retrieve the eye of a Vex Gate Lord, a huge Vex in charge of guarding a Vex gate for the Vex to travel through time. They assume it to be a suicide mission, but the player returns with the eye. The Queen tells the player that they now owe her a favor in return for her information.

The entrance to the Black Garden, located on Mars, lies behind thick Cabal defenses. The Cabal are a warmongering race of giant bipedal humanoids with a heavy-set, rhinoceros-like appearance. After successfully restoring the Gate Lord's eye using dormant Vex technology, the player enters the Black Garden. At its center is the Black Heart, an abomination whom the Vex worship and seek to use to bend reality to their will. The Guardian kills its protectors, destroying the Heart and freeing the Black Garden from Vex control. Light begins returning to the Traveler. But to finish off the Vex threat, the player must enter the Vault of Glass, the source of the Vex's reality-altering powers, and kill its leader, Atheon.

Lord Saladin, the last of the Iron Lords, rallies the Guardians to fight against and contain the re-emerged threat and become the next generation of Iron Lords to guard the Last City. ARG Prior to launch, an alternate reality game called " Owl Sector " began in and out of the game.

Development [ ]

Around the end of Halo 3's development in 2007, Bungie cofounder Jason Jones returned from a sabbatical, and he, Jaime Griesemer, and a small team of engineers and artists began working Codename Tiger , which would eventually become Destiny . [5]

At the time, Bungie wanted to create something different from Halo and focused more on fantasy, creating designs for knights, swords, and sorcery with a white city on a hill. However, a lot of employees had joined Bungie to work on Halo and science fiction games, so they ended up combining the two genres together. [6]

Destiny Trademark

The original Destiny trademark as registered in 2009.

On May 8, 2006 [7] , then Bungie-president Harold Ryan and composer Marty O'Donnell formed a company together called Podophobia Entertainment, Inc., [8] to seemingly trademark "Destiny," a logo, with a description that read, "Computer game software; Computer game software downloadable from a global computer network; Video game software; Virtual reality game software." This was discovered in May 2011 [9] [10] after a disgruntled ex-employee at the time said that they were working on a game called "Destiny." [11]

On April 29, 2010, Bungie announced that it would be entering into a ten-year publishing deal with Activision-Blizzard for Bungie's next action game series ( Destiny ), under which Bungie would own the IP and retain control of the game development cycle while Activision would have a 10-year license to publish all video games created around that franchise on multiple platforms. [12] [13] Bungie said that Jason Jones had already begun laying the groundwork for the new game with a core team. [14]

Sometime in 2011, Marty O'Donnell began working on the score for Destiny , deciding that he and Michael Salvatori would compose the score for the entire franchise at once. [15] To begin, they would create a prequel soundtrack entitled "Music of the Spheres" that would be released shortly before Destiny's release. During development, they were assisted by Sir Paul McCartney who created a song specifically for Destiny entitled, "Hope for the Future." [16]

On February 11, 2013, Bungie announced their newest game, Destiny through a video documentary and reveal trailer entitled Pathways Out of Darkness. [17] [18] An alternate reality game (ARG) began the same day on Bungie.net. An Alpha Lupa forum account released cryptic images and messages over the next seven days that the community could solve prior to February 17 where more information would be released. Once solved, users could download an MP3 track by O'Donnell and a completed image of the solved puzzle. [19] Based on images of the ARG and Music of the Spheres, it's hypothesized that this was an ARG for that prequel soundtrack rather than for Destiny itself.

At E3 2013, an official trailer for Destiny was shown off at Sony's Press Conference. [20]

During development, Joseph Staten and his team were tasked with writing the game's story. In July 2013, a two-hour "supercut" of the complete story was put together for Bungie's leadership, comprising cinematics and major story elements. They reacted negatively, saying that it was too campy and linear, and completely scrapped the story to be rebuilt. Jason Jones created an "Iron Bar of meetings sometimes in August, where he and other creators such as Christopher Barrett and Luke Smith created a new plot, overhauling the story to be less linear and stitching together pieces of encounters that had already been created. The way destinations and enemies were introduced completely changed, some characters were overhauled, and most of the dialogue had to be rewritten. In order to make Destiny more open-world, the "Director" was created to allow players non-linear access to destinations. A lot of Staten's backstory was repurposed into lore called "Grimoire." [21]

As a result of the game's revisions, the game's release date was pushed by from September 2013 to March 2014, [22] and then again [21] to September 2014.

At E3 2014 in June 2014 at Sony's Press Conference, a new Destiny trailer was shown off, announcing the September 9, 2014 launch date. [23] Another trailer was created where Jason Jones gave a thorough breakdown of what to expect in Destiny, and announcing that a public beta would take place take place beginning July 17. [24] After E3, a Destiny First Look Alpha took place for limited public availability from June 12-15. [25] [26]

Production The Taken King started in late 2013. It was originally planned to release for $60, and include access to Europa and the European Dead Zone. Additional fireteam activities were planned. Development was rebooted in March 2014, to focus on the Hive Dreadnaught. A public space on Mars was also planned, but was cut. [27]

The trademark for Rise of Iron was registered on May 31, 2016. [28]

The existence of Rise of Iron was revealed in a leaked photograph of a promotional poster for the expansion. The poster showed Lord Saladin, the Tower envoy for the Iron Banner, surrounded by wolves and holding a fiery battleaxe before a breach in the Cosmodrome's wall. [29] Prior to this, Activision had stated that Bungie was at work on a "new large expansion" for Destiny that would be delivered by the end of 2016, but provided no further details. [30] Rise of Iron was the last major content update for Destiny before the 2017 release of its sequel, Destiny 2 .

The expansion's art direction was based entirely on Saladin himself. It also used Game of Thrones as an inspiration for its character dynamic. The same dog that provided motion-capture for Ghost was used in the game's development. [31] It was intended that the expansion present the Destiny universe as a living place, hence the return to Old Russia, showing the detritus of earlier battles.

Rise of Iron is the first Destiny expansion to not be released on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3; it is only available on Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Players can transfer their characters to the newer generation of consoles, but will not be able to transfer their characters to the previous generation, as Rise of Iron content will be incompatible. Updates and hotfixes for Destiny on previous-generation consoles have also been discontinued.

Destiny Awaits

A screenshot from Halo 3: ODST teasing Destiny.

  • Destiny was teased in Bungie's 2009 video game Halo 3: ODST , over three years before Destiny's official announcement. [32]
  • Initially, Activision Blizzard CEO Robert Kotick suggested that the total investment in Destiny would be around $500 million. Bungie's COO Pete Parsons clarified that the game's development cost is not even close to $500 million, saying, "For marketing you'd have to ask Activision people, but for development costs, not anything close to $500 million." [33] Activision subsequently confirmed the $500 million figure, stating that marketing, up-front infrastructure costs, and investment in the game's engine were included, and could be amortized over the life of the IP. [34]
  • As of August 12, 2014, Destiny has set a video game industry record as the most pre-ordered new franchise. [35]
  • The trademark for the The Dark Below was filed in 2013. [36] Activision had Blizzard Entertainment file the trademark, which led to some confusion as to whether the expansion was related to World of Warcraft . [37]
  • When The Dark Below was released, Destiny was updated to give all players access to new weapons and armor, and new Daily Bounties.
  • The Dark Below was rebooted a few months before release. The expansion's "crunch period" occurred over a period of nine weeks. [27]
  • House of Wolves is the only expansion in Destiny to not include a Raid.
  • House of Wolves is the first DLC to have the Fallen to be the main antagonists.
  • House of Wolves was the first DLC to have the Arena mode in the series of the game.
  • The Taken King was called "Comet: Plague of Darkness" during an early stage of its development. [38]
  • The Taken King is the last expansion to be available on legacy consoles.
  • It is also the second expansion to focus on the Hive, the first being The Dark Below.
  • After the release of The Taken King , all PlayStation timed-exclusives in The Dark Below and House of Wolves were made available to all other platforms. Additionally, all Crucible maps pertaining to this expansion were made available to all players, including those who did not own it.
