Save Environment Essay

Essay On Save Environment - A healthy natural equilibrium in the air, water, animals, plants, and other natural resources is referred to as the environment. Pollution is the process of contaminating the environment with dangerous substances. Measures should be taken to prevent these threats from threatening human, animal, and plant life before spiralling out of control. Here are 100, 200 and 500 word essays on save environment.

Save Environment Essay

100 Words Essay On Save Environment

Our environment must be safeguarded and conserved. Natural energy conservation is critical since it maintains us. There are several strategies to protect our environment, the first of which is to reduce pollution levels. Because vehicle smoke creates a lot of pollution, using Natural Gas as a fuel for cars will cut smoke emissions. Automobiles powered by batteries are also environmentally favourable. Solar energy is used to protect our natural resources. Solar energy is non-polluting and renewable.

We must avoid dumping rubbish and manufacturing byproducts into the water. Namami Gange, for example, attempts to clean waterways and is a step toward a cleaner environment. We all must take responsibility and do our share to protect the environment.

200 Words Essay On Save Environment

The environment is a geographical area or natural world that is affected by human activity and includes mineral soil, air and water, animals, and so on. Concrete structures and roads replaced the natural landscape as Homo sapiens moved toward urbanisation and industrialisation, which led to medical, industrial, and sociological growth.

However, human reliance on these natural environments for food, water for drinking and agriculture, fuelling wood, and so on continues. Our dependence on nature is so significant that we cannot thrive without conserving its resources. The environment has an impact on an organism's survival and development.

Types Of Natural Resources

These natural resources are broadly classified as renewable or non-renewable. Renewable resources are those that can be naturally replenished. Water, forests, and crops are examples of these. Non-renewable resources, on the other hand, such as oil and minerals, cannot be renewed and, in the current environment, are rapidly depleted.

Population expansion and 'consumerism' on the part of the wealthy sectors of society are the primary causes of this rapid depletion of all natural resources. This has resulted in the extinction of fauna and trees and the disruption of the environment. As a result, it is past time to stop wasting these natural resources and use them wisely.

500 Words Essay On Save Environment

The natural environment's gifts are a source of joy for humans and other living species. These natural resources, such as air, sunlight, fresh water, fossil fuels, and so on, are so essential that life cannot exist without them. However, due to the enormous population's desire for material items, these resources are being squandered and abused to excess. This 'economic progress,' is proving to be more detrimental to human health.

Why Is There A Need To Save The Environment

The following points describe pollution caused by the misuse and waste of natural resources and the repercussions on the life of living beings on Earth. Thus, to save life on Earth, we must protect our environment:

Air Pollution | The increased use of gasoline and diesel for transportation and the combustion of fossil fuels in industries to generate energy contribute significantly to air pollution. This raises sulphur oxides, hydrocarbons, chlorofluorocarbons, carbon monoxide, and other pollutants. These dangerous gases significantly impact human health, producing chronic bronchitis, lung cancer, and other respiratory disorders. Furthermore, by depleting the ozone layer and exposing humans to ultraviolet radiation, air pollution hastens 'global warming' and weakens the immune system.

Water Pollution | Water pollution is caused by the suspension of water-soluble inorganic compounds from factories, releasing untreated human and animal wastes into freshwater, and the draining fertilisers and pesticides during river irrigation. This renders the water unsafe for drinking, causing gastrointestinal disorders and cancer.

Soil Pollution | Using chemical fertilisers and insecticides in soil kills harmful and good pests, resulting in less nutritious crops. Furthermore, long-term exposure to chemical-infected crops caused by soil contamination causes health problems. Soil erosion induced by excessive deforestation and building increases the frequency of floods, resulting in catastrophic damage to human life.

Noise Pollution | Excessive noise from factories and cars can cause physical damage to the ear, leading to temporary or permanent hearing loss. Noise pollution harms Homo sapiens' mental, emotional, and psychological health, generating stress, anxiety, and irritation, and so impairing work performance.

Methods For Environmental Protection

Looking back through history, we can see that our forefathers were more concerned with environmental preservation than we are today. This may be seen in Sunderlal Bahuguna's contributions to the Chipko Movement, which protected forest resources. Similarly, Medha Patkar effectively rescued the tribal people's habitat, which the construction of dams on the Narmada River had severely harmed. Likewise, as today's young, we may take small measures to conserve our natural environment:

Initiatives That Students Can Take

To avoid the overuse of non-renewable resources, we should promote and apply the principle of reducing, i.e. reduce, recycle, and reuse. Metal scrap, for example, can be utilised to create new metal items.

Save electricity by using energy-saving tube lights and bulbs.

Use e-books and e-paper instead of paper and wood products whenever possible.

Reduce your reliance on fossil fuels by walking, carpooling, or public transportation.

Instead of plastic bags, use jute/cloth bags.

Make use of rechargeable batteries or solar panels.

Establishing a compost bin to make manure to limit the need for fertilisers.

The government has devised several projects and enacted legislation to safeguard nature and animals. Everyone must continue to conserve the environment for future generations as we reap its advantages.

Essay on Understanding and Nurturing Our Environment

The environment is everything that surrounds us – the air we breathe, the water we drink, the soil beneath our feet, and the diverse flora and fauna that inhabit our planet. It's not just a backdrop to our lives; it's the very essence of our existence. In this essay, we'll explore the importance of our environment, the challenges it faces, and what we can do to ensure a sustainable and thriving world for generations to come.

Our environment is a complex and interconnected web of life. Every living organism, from the tiniest microbe to the largest mammal, plays a crucial role in maintaining the balance of ecosystems. This delicate balance ensures the survival of species, including humans. For instance, bees pollinate plants, which produce the oxygen we breathe. Nature is a masterpiece that has evolved over millions of years, and we are just one small part of this intricate tapestry.

Importance of Environment

The environment is crucial for keeping living things healthy.

It helps balance ecosystems.

The environment provides everything necessary for humans, like food, shelter, and air.

It's also a source of natural beauty that is essential for our physical and mental health.

The Threats to Our Environment:

Unfortunately, our actions have disrupted this delicate balance. The rapid industrialization, deforestation, pollution, and over-exploitation of natural resources have led to severe environmental degradation. Climate change, driven by the increase in greenhouse gas emissions, is altering weather patterns, causing extreme events like floods, droughts, and storms. The loss of biodiversity is another alarming concern – species are disappearing at an unprecedented rate due to habitat destruction and pollution.

Impact of Human Activities on the Environment

Human activities like pollution, deforestation, and waste disposal are causing environmental problems like acid rain, climate change, and global warming. The environment has living (biotic) and non-living (abiotic) components. Biotic components include plants, animals, and microorganisms, while abiotic components include things like temperature, light, and soil.

In the living environment, there are producers (like plants), consumers (like animals), and decomposers (like bacteria). Producers use sunlight to make energy, forming the base of the food web. Consumers get their energy by eating other organisms, creating a chain of energy transfer. Decomposers break down waste and dead organisms, recycling nutrients in the soil.

The non-living environment includes climatic factors (like rain and temperature) and edaphic factors (like soil and minerals). Climatic factors affect the water cycle, while edaphic factors provide nutrients and a place for organisms to grow.

The environment includes everything from the air we breathe to the ecosystems we live in. It's crucial to keep it clean for a healthy life. All components of the environment are affected by its condition, so a clean environment is essential for a healthy ecosystem.

Sustainable Practices:

Adopting sustainable practices is a key step towards mitigating environmental degradation. This includes reducing our carbon footprint by using renewable energy, practicing responsible consumption, and minimizing waste. Conservation of natural resources, such as water and forests, is essential. Supporting local and global initiatives that aim to protect the environment, like reforestation projects and wildlife conservation efforts, can make a significant impact.

Education and Awareness:

Creating a sustainable future requires a collective effort, and education is a powerful tool in this regard. Raising awareness about environmental issues, the consequences of our actions, and the importance of conservation is crucial. Education empowers individuals to make informed choices and encourages sustainable practices at both personal and community levels.

Why is a Clean Environment Necessary?

To have a happy and thriving community and country, we really need a clean and safe environment. It's like the basic necessity for life on Earth. Let me break down why having a clean environment is so crucial.

First off, any living thing—whether it's plants, animals, or people—can't survive in a dirty environment. We all need a good and healthy place to live. When things get polluted, it messes up the balance of nature and can even cause diseases. If we keep using up our natural resources too quickly, life on Earth becomes a real struggle.

So, what's causing all this environmental trouble? Well, one big reason is that there are just so many people around, and we're using up a lot of stuff like land, food, water, air, and even fossil fuels and minerals. Cutting down a bunch of trees (we call it deforestation) is also a big problem because it messes up the whole ecosystem.

Then there's pollution—air, water, and soil pollution. It's like throwing a wrench into the gears of nature, making everything go wonky. And you've probably heard about things like the ozone layer getting thinner, global warming, weird weather, and glaciers melting. These are all signs that our environment is in trouble.

But don't worry, we can do things to make it better:

Plant more trees—they're like nature's superheroes, helping balance everything out.

Follow the 3 R's: Reuse stuff, reduce waste, and recycle. It's like giving our planet a high-five.

Ditch the plastic bags—they're not great for our landscapes.

Think about how many people there are and try to slow down the population growth.

By doing these things, we're basically giving our planet a little TLC (tender loving care), and that's how we can keep our environment clean and healthy for everyone.

Policy and Regulation:

Governments and institutions play a vital role in shaping environmental policies and regulations. Strong and enforceable laws are essential to curb activities that harm the environment. This includes regulations on emissions, waste disposal, and protection of natural habitats. International cooperation is also crucial to address global environmental challenges, as issues like climate change know no borders.

The Role of Technology:

Technology can be a double-edged sword in environmental conservation. While some technological advancements contribute to environmental degradation, others offer solutions. Innovative technologies in renewable energy, waste management, and sustainable agriculture can significantly reduce our impact on the environment. Embracing and investing in eco-friendly technologies is a step towards a greener and more sustainable future.

Conclusion:

Our environment is not just a collection of trees, rivers, and animals; it's the foundation of our existence. Understanding the interconnectedness of all living things and recognizing our responsibility as stewards of the Earth is essential. By adopting sustainable practices, fostering education and awareness, implementing effective policies, and embracing eco-friendly technologies, we can work towards healing our planet. The choices we make today will determine the world we leave for future generations – a world that can either flourish in its natural beauty or struggle under the weight of environmental degradation. It's our collective responsibility to ensure that it's the former.

Introduction to Save the Environmental Essay

In simple terms, the natural surrounding where we live is termed as the environment. The environment constitutes of biotic and abiotic components. Both biotic and abiotic components support each other to maintain proper balance in the environment.

The environment is a treasure of various natural resources such as air, water, wood, oil, natural gas, minerals, fuel, energy, etc. Unfortunately, the misuse of these resources and hazardous emissions through various sources are polluting the environment.

The harsh reality is that most human activities are involved in  environmental pollution . These activities are damaging nature day by day rapidly, which leads to a problem in the survival of living beings.

Conservation of Environment

A few decades before, our environment was quite healthy, including lush green landscapes, fresh air to breathe, peaceful and natural places to live. On the other hand, today’s environment is packed with industries, factories, urban areas, huge buildings, multi-storied apartments, etc.

The entire outlook of the environment has been changed just for the sake of facilitating human needs and comfort. However, despite this drastic change in the environment, the importance of natural resources cannot be denied to humankind. For example-

  • We use air for breathing. It is an essential requirement of all living organisms without which we cannot even survive for a few seconds.
  • Trees play significant roles in the environment, whether it is about maintaining oxygen & carbon balance in the atmosphere or preventing soil erosion .
  • Water is one of the crucial resources. It is of utmost essential for the survival of all living organisms, but some places on Earth are facing the problem of scarcity of water.

Apart from this, many more natural resources fulfill our needs. We should take the initiative for the security of these natural resources . Hence, save water, stop polluting the air and water, stop deforestation, etc. to protect the environment from getting positive benefits from it.

What Causes Environmental Degradation?

These environmental degradation essay points will help you to understand why it is important to save the environment.

  • Air pollution is one of the major reasons for environmental degradation. The air is getting polluted through various means such as the burning of fossil fuel, emission from industries, greenhouse gas effects , etc.
  • Water pollution is affecting the environment adversely. A massive amount of chemicals, wastes, pesticides, oil spills, etc. are polluting the water bodies of the Earth.
  • The land is getting polluted majorly through agricultural activities. Excessive use of fertilizers and pesticides minimizes the quality of soil, which leads to poor productivity.
  • Sound pollution from various sources (such as vehicles, factories, parties, discos, pubs, etc.) is hurting the health of humans and animals too.
  • Deforestation is highly affecting the environment. The benefits of trees are countless. Deforestation is hampering the natural balance of the environment.
  • Urbanization and industrialization are big-time responsible for the exploitation of the environment.

Ways to Help The Environment

How we can save the environment is always the question in our minds. There are many ways in points which are as follows-

  • Sustainable living is a valuable idea to save the environment. We need to be well aware of what, how, and why we are using the resources, especially non-renewable ones.
  • It is an art to live sustainable where you understand the way of using resources, keeping in mind the requirement of upcoming generations.
  • Planting trees is a fruitful idea to protect the environment. Make a group with your friends and plant new trees as much as you can. It also promotes reforestation and afforestation.
  • Minimize the pollution level in the atmosphere by controlling high-level emissions through various sources.
  • Prefer to use public transport or carpool to reduce carbon emission in the air.
  • Apply the 3 Rs (i.e., Reuse, Recycle, and Reduce ) concept to minimize the waste landfills.
  • Control the emission of toxic chemicals and hazardous fumes coming out of the factories and industries.
  • Limit your energy consumption as most of the energy sources are non-renewable resources.
  • You can save energy by making some efforts in your daily life. For example- switch off the electronic equipment when not in use, switch to LED bulbs, buy Eco-friendly products, etc.
  • Save water for our present and future generations as well before it’s too late.
  • We are losing the green gold of the Earth, i.e., trees for numerous purposes, and paper usage is one among those. The more we use paper, the more trees will be deforested to fulfill the demand. Hence, we should reduce our paper consumption so that it causes lesser tree deaths.
  • Plastic pollution has become a big disaster for the environment. Minimize the use of plastic (especially single-use plastic) to protect the environment from danger.
  • Efforts should be taken on the remarkable reduction of disposal of domestic as well as industrial waste into water bodies.
  • Waste management plays an essential role in the conservation of the environment. There should be proper waste disposal to protect the environment from its hazardous effects.
  • Minimize the use of pesticides and fertilizers for agricultural purposes to stop polluting the water and land.
  • Prefer to use jute or cloth bags instead of plastic bags.
  • Minimize the use of wood to stop deforestation.
  • Switch to renewable energy sources like solar panels.
  • Ask for strict Govt. rules, and implement these rules with severe punishments if broken.

Save the Environment Essay Conclusion

Degradation of the environment starts with the exploitation of natural resources. Hence if we want to save the environment, we need to stop exploiting these resources. Everyone needs to put their best efforts to help the environment to heal again.

However, this healing process will take time, but our continuous efforts will surely make a difference. If you want to breathe fresh, then come forward and contribute to protecting the environment for ourselves and the upcoming generations also.

Introduction.

The conditions or surroundings in which we all live are called the environment. The main elements of the environment are air, water, temperature, weather conditions and more.

If any of these elements gets disturbed from their real form, we will have to face harmful effects and serious problems. For example, if the temperature goes very high or very low, it will result in an uncomfortable life.

Essay on Save Environment | Introduction

The Importance of the Environment

Long ago our earth developed a perfect environment for life. All living beings completely depend on the environment to live a comfortable life. But we humans have used it just for the sake of earning more money. We are damaging the environment more and more daily.

As a result, the real form of the initial environment is getting changed. This change is also known as climate change .

The main causes that result in changes in the environment are pollution of all types, the problem of global warming, and deforestation. But human activities are considered the biggest cause of it.

Save Environment Save Life

As we know that damaged environment risks the expectancy of life. We need to take some steps immediately to save the environment and revert it to its original form. Deforestation needs to be stopped fully because trees are our best friends and they create a balance between oxygen and carbon dioxide.

Pollution of all types must be controlled at each level. It is the greatest enemy of the environment. Individuals and government together need to do their duties to control it. Humans can use a bicycle for covering short distances.

The use of electric vehicles should be increased. Apart from this, Waste management, Recycling, and using natural resources efficiently are some powerful ways to save our environment from damage.

To sum it up, The environment is the base of the life cycle. It is the most precious gift of nature. But now our environment is in danger. Saving the environment is very important for living a comfortable life. It is the biggest challenge for humans to revert the environment to its real state. But nothing is impossible.

Long Essay On Save Environment | 500 words

The environment consists of many elements but air, water, weather and temperature are very chief among all them. From our first breath to death, We all are sustained by the environment. It equips us with every small or big requirement in life.

To live a comfortable life all living beings demand a perfect environment. But it is getting changed day by day. And this is an alarming threat to humanity and also to the expectancy of life on Earth. It is time to fix the problem and get the initial form of the environment back to normal.

Threats to the environment

There are some natural and some man-made threats to the environment. The first reason is pollution which disbalances the amount of oxygen and carbon dioxide.

Global warming is the second reason for the change in the average temperature of the earth. Although it is partially caused by natural events. But with some effort, it can be controlled.

Most noteworthy, Deforestation is a major threat to ecological disbalance. The number of trees on the planet is lowering at a high speed. On the other hand, the plantation of new trees is very slow. Another threat is the conversion of forests into farmlands and factories.

Causes for changing environment

If we talk about the causes of climate change, human activities get the first rank. Humans have damaged the environment seriously.

After the industrial revolution, the burning of fossil fuels increased drastically which causes a high amount of carbon dioxide in the environment. Carbon dioxide is the main reason for human-induced climate change.

Furthermore, there are some natural causes for the change in the environment. The energy we get from the Sun is not constant, it varies over time and impacts the environment. Another reason is emissions from volcanoes. Apart from these, natural greenhouse gases impact the environment at a huge level.

Save Environment Save Earth

To save the earth and keep it suitable for living beings, it is important to save the environment. The environment of the earth has developed over millions of years.

As we know an imperfect environment risks the prospect of life. We need to take some steps promptly to save the environment and revert it to its pure form.

For the sake of earning more money, we humans are exploiting the environment. As a result, we are to face a lot of issues that are affecting our lives. Now the time has come to help the environment because we depend on the environment.

Ways to Save the Environment

Changes in the environment are neither completely caused by humans nor fully by natural events. The causes are at both levels. We can put some effort to save the environment.

Pollution Control- The problem of pollution is becoming a grieve threat to humanity and to the environment as well. This issue needs to be controlled soon.

Reforestation-  As we know that air plays an important role in the environment, so reforestation can be proven a full-fledged solution to revert the issue to normal.

3 R’s formula-  First “R” is about  Reduce  which means to reduce the production of unnecessary products. The second “R” talks about  Reuse  which mean using the available things efficiently. And the last one refers to  Recycling  things to make them reusable.

Forest conservation- This is a great way to save the environment because growing new trees demand a long time than saving the existing ones.

Soil Conservation- This is yet another significant way to save the Environment. This is not easy but very helpful. We need to control floods, landslides, and soil erosion.

Final Words (Conclusion)

In conclusion, the environment has helped life to sustain itself on Earth. But it is now going in an adverse direction. The harsh reality is that human activities are considered the most impacting cause. Now it is a need of the hour to save the environment. However, the healing process will take time, but continuous efforts will make a difference.

Essay on Save Environment | Conclusion

When is world environment day ?

The environment is celebrated on 5th June every year to spread awareness about environmental issues.

Short Essay on Save Environment – Essay 1 (200 words)

A geographical area or the natural world that includes mineral soil, air and water, animals, etc., affected by human activity is called the environment. With the movement of the Homo sapiens towards urbanization and industrialization, which led to the environment and development of medical, industrial and societal fields, the natural landscape got replaced by concrete buildings and roads. However, our dependency on these natural landscapes for food, water for drinking and agriculture, fueling wood, etc., persists. Our dependency on nature is so large that we cannot survive without protecting its resources.

These natural resources can broadly be categorized into renewable and non-renewable ones. Renewable resources are the ones that can be regenerated naturally. These include water, forest, crops etc. On the contrary, non-renewable resources such as oils and minerals cannot be replenished and, in the present scenario, are being consumed quickly.

The main factors leading to this rapid depletion of all natural resources are population growth and ‘consumerism’ on the part of the privileged sections of society.

This has led to the loss of not only wildlife and trees but has also disrupted the ecosystem. Thus, it is high time we stop misusing these natural resources and use them judiciously.

On the Importance of Saving Our Environment – Essay 2 (300 words)

The sum of all the surroundings of a living being, including air, water, sunlight, etc. and the living organism like animals, plants, humans, etc., that provide sustainable conditions for growth and development constitutes the environment.

Importance of Saving Our Environment

Today in the industrial and urban sectors, this environment comprises well-paved roads, multi-story concrete buildings and skyscrapers. Their main motive is to accommodate the increasing population and provide various luxuries to the affluent sections of society.

However, despite this movement, the reliability of humans on the resources derived from nature persists. We use air for breathing, water for drinking and other daily chores.

Essay on How to Protect and Save Environment – Essay 3 (400 words)

Since the beginning, the environment has helped us establish a relationship with flora and fauna and ultimately determined our formation and survival. It has given us various gifts, e.g. water, sunlight, air, creatures and fossil fuels which have made our planet worth living on.

How to Protect and Save the Environment

  • Forest Resources: Forests play a vital role in preventing soil erosion and reducing the effects of drought as they prevent rainwater from running from the ground. Moreover, they not only keep the climatic conditions under control but also maintain carbon dioxide levels for living organisms.
  • Food Resources: The various technologies used during the green revolution that helped reduce starvation by booming crop production, in actuality, degraded the quality of the soil.

Essay on Save Environment Save Earth – Essay 4 (500 words)

“No generation has a freehold on this Earth. Despite various gifts we have been provided by nature to make our life seem easy and this planet worth living, such as air, sunlight, water, animals and minerals, we have overtly exploited them for our selfish gains.

Need to Save Environment to Save Earth

To meet our present-day needs due to increasing population levels, we have been persistent without any check consuming natural resources. We are not concerned for our future generations. Thus, the need of the hour is to conserve both the renewable and non-renewable resources provided by nature if we need to save mother Earth.

Effects of Pollution on the Environment

  • Air Pollution: The development of transportation systems and large-scale use of petrol and diesel has accelerated the production of both undesirable solid and gaseous particles in the air in quantities that are harmful to the environment. With the increase in carbon monoxide, chloro-fluoro-carbons, sulphur oxides, hydrocarbons, and even lead, the ozone layer responsible for protection from ultraviolet rays has started depleting. This has also increased temperatures, commonly known as ‘global warming’.
  • Water Pollution: Untreated human and animal wastes, suspension of water-soluble inorganic chemicals from industries such as mercury and lead and draining of organic chemicals, including detergent and oils, in the freshwater ponds and rivers has made their water unfit for any use. This has adversely affected aquatic life, reduced crop yields, and made the water unsafe for consumption by humans and animals.
  • Soil Pollution: Due to the excessive spraying of fertilizers and pesticides like DDT, the use of irrigation water that is high in salts to increase crop yields, in the long run, renders land useless.
  • Noise Pollution: Noise emanating from vehicles, factories and especially the bursting of crackers during Diwali in India contributes to noise pollution. This adversely affects the animals as they cannot adapt to such noises and, in turn, undergo hearing loss.

Every individual must solely contribute towards conserving the environment and not majorly depend on the government itself. Knowingly or unknowingly, we contribute towards environment pollution daily. Hence, as the consumers of the gifts of nature, it is our responsibility to promote rainwater harvesting, take part both individually and collectively in recycling products, and avoid the wastage of resources such as electricity and fresh water, etc. By taking little steps, we can effectively improve the health of our ailing planet.

Essay on Save Environment Save Life – Essay 5 (600 words)

The gifts provided by the natural environment are bliss for humanity as well as for other living organisms. These natural resources, including air, sunlight, fresh water, fossil fuels and many more are so vital that life can never be possible without them. This, rather than ‘economic development’, is proving to be more hazardous for human health, as discussed below.

Reasons to Save the Environment to Save Life on Earth

Following are the points describing pollution due to the Misuse and Wastage of natural resources and their effects on the life of living beings on the Earth. Thus we must save our environment to save life on Earth:

  • Air Pollution: The increase in the use of petrol and diesel for transportation and the burning of fossil fuels in industries to produce energy make a terrible contribution to polluting the air. This increases sulphur oxides, hydrocarbons, chloro-fluoro-carbons, carbon monoxide, etc. These hazardous gases negatively affect human health , causing chronic bronchitis, lung cancer, and other respiratory diseases. Also, causing the depletion of the ozone layer, making humanity vulnerable to ultraviolet rays, air pollution accelerates ‘global warming’ and weakens the immune system.
  • Water Pollution: The suspension of water-soluble inorganic chemicals from industries, the release of untreated human and animal wastes in fresh water, and the draining of fertilizers and pesticides during river irrigation lead to water pollution. This makes the water unfit for drinking, such that its consumption causes gastrointestinal diseases but also causes cancer. Moreover, by affecting aquatic life negatively, water pollution makes fish unfit for consumption.
  • Soil Pollution: Using chemical fertilizers and pesticides in soil kills bad and good pests, thereby providing us with less nutritious crops. Also, exposure to chemical-infected crops due to soil pollution over several years causes mutations, cancer, etc. Soil erosion caused due to excessive deforestation and construction aids in the frequency of floods, which results in the destruction of human life on a massive scale.
  • Noise Pollution: Excessive noise emanating from factories and vehicles can cause physical damage to the ear, resulting in temporary or permanent hearing loss. Amongst Homo sapiens, noise pollution also hurts mental, emotional and psychological health, causing stress, anxiety and irritability, thereby adversely affecting performance at work.

Methods for Saving the Environment

We, as the youth of today, can take small steps to save our natural environment similarly:

  • We should promote and also apply the concept of reducing. I.e. reduce, recycle and reuse to prevent the excessive use of non-renewable resources.
  • Use energy-efficient tube lights and bulbs that save energy.
  • Reduce the use of paper and wood products wherever possible and go for e-books and e-paper.
  • Reduce the use of fossil fuels by opting to walk, carpool, or use public transport.
  • Use jute/cloth bags instead of plastic bags.
  • Use rechargeable batteries/ solar panels.
  • I am setting up a compost bin to produce manure to reduce the use of fertilizers.

Save Environment Essay

Environment commonly refers to the surroundings in which all living and non-living things reside and establish a sense of attraction with one another. These include air, water, soil, human beings, animals, etc. However being a part of the city, town or village, we observe that the environment around us was originally a natural landscape, for instance, a desert, a forest, or even a river that has been shovelled by humans for buildings, roads and factories.

But even the people belonging to the metropolitan cities get their food, fish, fuel wood and fodder supplied from rural areas, which are eventually extracted from the natural landscapes. Hence, our dependence on natural resources has made it essential for us to take considerable measures to prevent the destruction and depletion of our natural environment.

Essay on Importance of Saving Our Environment – Essay 2 (300 words)

Introduction

The sum total of all the surroundings of a living being including air, water, sunlight, etc. and also the living organism like animals, plants, humans, etc that provide sustainable conditions for growth and development, constitutes the environment.

Importance of Saving Our Environment

Today in the industrial and urban sectors, this environment comprises of well paved roads, multi-story concrete buildings and skyscrapers. Their main motive is to accommodate the increasing population and provide various luxuries to the affluent sections of the society.

However, despite this movement the reliability of humans on the resources derived from nature still persists. We use air for breathing, water for drinking and other daily chores. Even the food we eat is derived from plants and animals including vegetables, milk, eggs, etc. In consideration of these requirements, protection of these resources has become very important which can be categorised as:

  • Renewable Resources: As the word suggests, renewable resources can be renewed naturally through rainfall and re-growth. However, these will be depleted if their consumption at this fast pace continues, even before nature can replace them. For example, rubber, timber, fresh water.
  • Non-Renewable Resources: These resources have been formed over a period of millions of years under the soil and hence cannot be replenished. Once used, the non-renewable resources including fossil fuels such as coal and oil can’t be renewed.

The need of the hour is to prevent the misuse of resources and instead use them judiciously as Mother Earth cannot sustain with this rapid utilization of resources. This is only possible through ‘sustainable development’. Moreover, the solid and liquid by-products discarded as garbage by manufacturing units should be equitably managed in order to prevent pollution that leads to various diseases like cancer and gastro-intestinal diseases. This is possible only if steps are taken on the individual basis, rather than depending entirely on the government.

Essay on How to Protect and Save Environment – Essay 3 (400 words)

Since the beginning of time, environment has helped us in establishing a relationship with the flora and fauna, and has ultimately determined our formation and survival. It has given us various gifts, for e.g. water, sunlight, air, creatures and fossil fuels which have made our planet worth living.

How to Protect and Save Environment

Since these resources are available in abundance, they are being overly used and consumed at a very high pace due to explosion in population and also to meet the luxurious demands of the privileged sections of the society. Thus, it has become important to conserve these natural resources in all the ways. Here are a few ways in which the excessive use of natural resources can be preserved:

  • Mineral and Energy Resources: The energy extracted from various minerals including coal, oil, and various fossil fuels is used massively in power generation plants and also in vehicles, which contribute majorly towards air pollution. In order to prevent the air borne diseases caused by their extraction and consumption, the use of the renewable resources like sunlight, wind and tidal energy must be promoted.
  • Forest Resources: Forests play a very vital role in preventing soil erosion and also reduces the effects of drought as they prevent the running off of the rain water from the ground. Moreover, they not only keep the climatic conditions under control but also maintain carbon dioxide levels for the living organism. Thus, it is vital to preserve and expand forests which can be done by promoting the sale of non-timber products, promoting the states rotational grazing schemes and most importantly planting more trees.
  • Water Resources: The aquatic ecosystems are used by people for their daily chores, such as drinking, cooking, washing etc. and the water cycle maintains it through evaporation and precipitation. However, fresh water is being overly consumed by man and wasted because of deforestation (floods). It is also getting polluted at a massive rate. In order to prevent water crisis in the near future, a number of measures need to be taken, which include building of small reservoirs instead of mega projects, promoting drip irrigation, preventing leakages, treating and recycling municipal waste.
  • Food Resources: The various technologies used during the green revolution that helped in reducing starvation by booming the production of crops, in actuality degraded the quality of soil. Thus, sustainable methods of food production need to be used that include using alternates to inorganic fertilizers and pesticides, promoting consumption of crops that grow on poor soil, etc.

Thus, it is only through sustainable development and proper management that we as individuals can take steps to protect and save environment.

Essay on Save Environment Save Earth – Essay 4 (500 words)

“No generation has a freehold on this earth. All we have is a life tenancy– with a full repairing lease.” These words have been very aptly quoted by Margaret Thatcher and define our temporary relationship with the natural environment. Despite various gifts that we have been provided by nature to make our life seemingly easy and this planet worth living, such as air, sunlight, water, animals and minerals, we have for our own selfish gains overtly exploited them.

Thus, the need of the hour is to conserve both the renewable and non-renewable resources, provided by nature if we really need to save mother Earth.

Effects of Pollution on Environment

During the last few decades, water, air and land have been contaminated for achieving short term gains at the cost of long term ecological losses to the environment. These undesirable changes have had disastrous effects not only on plants and wildlife, but also on humans which have been discussed as follows:

  • Air Pollution: The development of transportation system and large-scale use of petrol and diesel has accelerated the production of both undesirable solid and gaseous particles in the air, in quantities that are harmful for the environment. With the increase in the levels of carbon monoxide, chloro-fluoro-carbons, sulphur oxides, hydrocarbons and even lead, the ozone layer responsible for protection from ultra violet rays has started depleting. These natural resources including air, sunlight, fresh water, fossil fuels etc. are so vital that life can never be possible without them. However, with the increase in the greed for material goods by the large population, these resources are being used and misused beyond their limits. This, rather than ‘economic development’ is proving to be more hazardous for human health, which has been discussed below.

Reasons to Save Environment to Save Life on Earth

Following are the points describing pollution due to Misuse and Wastage of natural resources and their effects on life of living beings on the earth, thus we must save our environment to save life on earth:

  • Air Pollution: The increase in the use of petrol and diesel for transportation and the burning of fossil fuels in industries to produce energy make a terrible contribution in polluting the air. Amongst Homo sapiens, noise pollution also has negative effect on mental, emotional and psychological health, causing stress, anxiety and irritability, thereby adversely affecting the performance at work.

Methods for Saving the Environment

Pondering over the pages of history, it can be observed that our ancestors were more concerned about saving our environment, than we are today. This can be witnessed in the contributions of Sunderlal Bahuguna, who through Chipko Movement guarded the forest resources. Similarly, Medha Patkar effectively saved the environment of the tribal people, which was negatively impacted due to the construction of dams on the Narmada River. We as the youth of today can take small steps, to similarly save our natural environment:

  • We should promote and also apply to the concept of 3R’s, i.e. reduce, recycle and reuse in order to prevent the excessive use of non-renewable resources. For instance, metal scrap can be used to make new metal products.
  • Use energy efficient tube lights and bulbs that save energy.
  • Reduce the use of paper and wood products wherever possible and go for e-book and e-paper.
  • Reduce the use of fossil fuels by opting to walk or using car pool or public transport.
  • Use jute/cloth bags instead of plastic bags.
  • Use rechargeable batteries/ solar panels.
  • Setting up compost bin to produce manure to reduce the use of fertilizers.

Though government has formulated various schemes and established laws in favour of saving both nature and wildlife. It is still the duty of each person individually to protect the environment for our future generations, as we are the people consuming its benefits. This can be very appropriately connoted in the words of Lester Brown, “We have not inherited this earth from our forefathers: we have borrowed it from our children”.

Essay on save environment

Essay on save environment 26 Models

Last updated Friday , 15-03-2024 on 11:30 am

Essay on save environment. The environment around us is the shield of protection for humanity and all living things.

But if this environment is polluted, what will happen to people and other organisms?. If the environment is destroyed, we will die with it.

Therefore, we must talk about this important issue that all countries of the world are trying to reach practical solutions to.

Below we will provide you with several samples of ready-made essay on save environment. You must read these topics so that you can know all the details about this matter.

Essay on save environment

In order to save the environment around us, which plays the role of mother to us, we must know how we harm it. We deliberately destroy our environment horribly.

Humans invented coal-fired steam machines and that was the beginning of pollution. Harmful gasses have been released into the air.

Then he kept improving himself until he used petroleum and its derivatives, which was a fatal blow to the environment. Pollution has increased with the increase in progress and with the increase in the number of cars and factories.

In addition to the pollution caused by factories and cars, water is polluted by dumping various wastes in it. After we know the pollutants that we cause, we must know how to reduce pollution in order to save the environment from destruction.

One of the most important ways that will enable us to save the environment, is to convert all vehicles to vehicles that run on clean energy such as solar energy, wind and electric energy.  Violators must be severely punished. As for the water, it must be monitored so that waste is not disposed of.

If you are a nature lover, try to get away from the city and pollute it, and you can go to buy a plot of land and reclaim it.

This is one of the solutions that relieve the pressure on the industrial cities, where the rural population has migrated to them, and they have become polluted and unfit for life.

As for the spacious places, it is a safe place for you and your children away from diseases caused by pollution. As for food and drink, you will grow your own food and take care of it, and you must make it natural food without any harmful chemicals added. As for the water, it will be supervised by clean groundwater.

Save earth essay

What no one can deny is that the earth has reached a bad stage of pollution due to the wrong actions of human beings.

One of the most important of these actions that caused water pollution is the dumping of various types of waste in the water.

As for factories, they have caused two types of pollution. The first type is air pollution due to rising smoke. And polluting the water due to the discharge of waste in it.

As for the cars, when their numbers increased, the pollution rose to huge stages, which led to the spread of diseases of the chest, skin and eyes.

In order to be able to save the earth, we must stop these wrong actions, and preserve the earth for the coming years.

If we do not conserve what is left of the land, we will face grave consequences that will exterminate humanity.

That is why governments in all countries of the world must be alert to such imminent dangers, which must be resolved by appropriate scientific methods. These scientific methods must be based on scientific research in order to be of benefit to all.

Save environment essay 100 words

What is meant by the environment is all the water and air that surrounds humans, and if the environment is polluted, humans will suffer from diseases.

When God created the earth and sent people down on it, He prepared it for them according to their nature and bodies. He made air out of it for breathing, and made most of it from water because of its importance to humans.

And if we look at the other planets, we will know that they are not suitable for man to live on, but the Earth is fully equipped for him.

Therefore, people must appreciate the importance of the earth to them and their children. Without land, man will not find another place to live.

Despite the efforts of scientists to travel outside Earth and attempts to find another habitable planet, all of these attempts are almost impossible.

It is better for scientists to turn to the Earth and try to fix the human errors that have polluted the Earth. If governments put half of their effort and money into exploring other planets, they would save the Earth instead of trying to find a replacement and continuing to destroy it.

Essay on save environment 150 words

In order to know the ways to preserve the environment, we must know what the environment is. They are the things that surround humans and living organisms and help them to live a healthy life.

However, if any part of the surrounding environment becomes corrupted, it must encounter a problem in the life of the organism.

One of the sections of the environment is the soil that we cultivate with various types of plants on which all organisms feed.

Including the air in which the living organism lives because of its breathing, where the air cannot be dispensed with and cannot be polluted.

One of the most important components of the environment is water, from which humans, animals and birds drink.

And agriculture is also supported by fresh water. Agriculture is what provides food for creatures and makes livestock in their best condition.

So we must conserve water, soil, and air. So that these elements are in their best condition until human health is in the best condition.  If one of these elements is polluted, it causes pollution of the other elements, which leads to the pollution of the entire environment.

Let’s protect our environment essay

When God created the earth, it was a natural land full of trees and green plants. The land was filled with clean and unpolluted water.

But with the passage of time, man began to reconstruct some areas, transforming them from a natural environment into a developed residential environment. But this development destroyed the land and polluted the air and water.

And when humans developed in recent years and the industrial revolution began to take off, as humans used coal and then petroleum to rotate factories and means of transportation, pollution began to increase dramatically.

But after humans discovered the damage that occurred to the environment from air and water pollution, the occurrence of global warming and the ozone hole, humans began to use a type of energy called clean energy such as wind and solar energy.

Save water save earth essay

Why is saving water from pollution saving the whole earth? Because water is the most important component of the earth’s composition.

Man completely depends on all types of water, from which fish come out, which are considered one of the most important sources of food.

It uses water to move from one place to another and transport goods from one country to another, which contributes significantly to increasing the national income. Humans use fresh water to drink from it and to cook different types of food.

And when people raise animals, they need large amounts of clean water to drink. That is why there must be a clean source of water near the animal farms.

There is an important use of water, which is agriculture, where man must grow his crop near fresh water. There is no cultivation anywhere that does not have clean fresh water. If the water is polluted, the plant will die due to poisoning from the harmful elements in the water.

Paragraph on save earth

Everyone knows that the earth has begun to collapse due to the huge pollution caused by man, but will he be able to correct his mistakes and save the earth before it is too late.

We must all come together if we want to save the earth from global warming that threatens to sink the earth. What makes global warming a big risk is that it will cause snow to melt around the world, which will raise the water level in the seas and oceans.

Scientists say that this disaster will lead to the sinking of coastal cities completely under water. As we have seen in past years, when a tsunami occurred, which caused the inundation of large areas of the islands bordering the ocean. A large number of people drowned.

The sinking of coasts or islands is one of the disasters that we must avoid, because it includes a huge number of people.

Therefore, we must sound the alarm bell in order to improve our behavior towards the environment, and we must teach young children how important the earth is and how to preserve it.

Save environment essay 200 words

The environment is the mother that embraces man and all living creatures, and provides us with everything we need for good and protection.

But just as we deal with the mother in a way that repays the favor, we must deal with the environment in the same way. It is not right for us to give the sources of life while we kill her.

In order to be able to give back to the environment in a way that suits its giving to us, we must maintain cleanliness in our homes and everywhere. Cleanliness is the most important behavior in preserving the environment.

If a person cares about the cleanliness of his home and the street in which he lives, the cities will be clean and we will get rid of the problem of garbage accumulation.

And after we get the garbage out of the houses, our turn does not end for this moment, but we must make sure that it will go to the right place. As we must hand it over to specialized cleaning companies, which sort the garbage and send each part of it to its own place to be recycled.

Protecting the environment for future generations essay

Man must know that the earth does not belong to him alone in order to pollute it and spoil it for future generations.

Generations change, the old generation dies, and a new generation of people appears.

That is why it is the duty of each generation to hand over the earth to the next generation in its best condition and splendid image.

But is this what is actually happening? Unfortunately, man was raised on selfishness and self-love only and not thinking of others.

Therefore, he consumed resources and polluted the land, and did not care about the generations that would come to live in this accumulated waste.

In order to create a future for the earth, we must target the younger generations, who are children in the age of nursery and primary school. Specialists should go to their schools and then start making them aware of everything related to the environment.

As if they teach children the importance of the environment for humans. Then they teach them how to preserve it from pollution. In the end, the child must learn how to dispose of waste in a way that does not harm the environment.

Conservation of environment essay

It is necessary to take care of the garbage and allocate suitable places for it, by not throwing it in the streets so as not to cause the spread of rodents and insects that harm human health such as flies and mosquitoes.

We will not forget afforestation, which is the planting of trees near homes and residential areas. What distinguishes trees is that they release oxygen and absorb carbon dioxide in the process of photosynthesis.

We must teach children in school how to preserve the environment, so that they grow up knowing what the importance of the environment is and what it offers us in an integrated life. We must show them films about the dangers of pollution and ways to preserve it.

Protect the environment essay

In order to protect the environment, we must all learn the right ways to protect it. For cars, they must run on clean fuels such as solar energy. Gasoline and diesel must be banned because of the severe pollution caused by cars over the past years.

As for the garbage, a huge budget must be allocated in order to transport the garbage on a daily basis from the residential areas. But we also have to have recycling plants so that the garbage can be sorted and used again.

The government should provide a large number of transport vehicles that transport garbage from residential areas.

An appropriate budget must be allocated in order to start building factories aimed at recycling and transforming garbage into something useful for humans.

Short essay on save environment

200 word essay save our environment.

Soil plays an important role in human life as he uses it to grow the plants that he feeds on. But if this soil is contaminated as if it was irrigated with unclean water such as sewage or water contaminated with chemicals, it will poison and kill plants.

As for the plants grown by humans, they must be plants that require small amounts of water in order to save water, and so that the soil does not rot due to the large amount of irrigation that damages the soil and may make it unsuitable for agriculture. Also, the air must be preserved by using clean energy sources.

There are several sources of energy that do not harm the ecosystem, including solar energy and energy extracted from rain and flood waters after they are collected behind dams.

There is also wind energy that is produced by windmills.

Essay on save trees save environment

Trees are the source of oxygen on Earth and the primary source of human life. And as we know that a planet without oxygen is an unsuitable planet for humans.

But why do people chop down trees? Unfortunately, those who cut down trees do not honor anything but superficial thinking that makes them interested in making some furniture and building some houses, and they do not care about the lack of oxygen or the high level of carbon dioxide.

But what is the correct way to deal with trees? Trees are important in human life because most of their tools are made of wood extracted from trees, but new trees must be planted in place of the ones that were cut so that there is no disruption in oxygen and carbon dioxide.

We must provide the agricultural area, not reduce it, by choosing places with groundwater, then digging some wells in them and planting trees and any green plants in them.

Trees have to be planted around cities in order to extract the carbon dioxide from the city’s factories and cars.

10 Lines on save water save earth

Water is the cornerstone of life on Earth, and there are many causes of water pollution. One of the most important of these causes is that large ships dump large quantities of oil into the sea or ocean. This dumping is by accidental leakage, or by sinking these ships.

One of the reasons that lead to water pollution is that sewage is discharged into seas and rivers. This causes the destruction of large areas of water and the death of fish intensively, causing great loss.

The groundwater may be polluted due to the construction of factories near water sources, which leads to the leakage of some chemicals to the water. Also, when the residential areas are located near the rivers, the residents throw their waste into the water.

In order to save the whole earth from the danger of deadly pollution, we must know what are the causes of water pollution and try to reduce this pollution in any way possible. We must save all possible sources of water in order to save the whole earth.

Save environment paragraph 100 words

The environment consists of living organisms, which are several types, including humans, animals, birds, and plants.

It also consists of soil, which is divided into several types, including stony, rocky and earthy, including sandy soil and fertile clay soil.

The second component of the environment is both types of water, as there is a large amount of water on the planet, but it is fresh and salty. It is fresh in rivers and lakes, some of which are in the form of groundwater. As for salt water, it is found in seas and oceans.

Air is one of the components of the environment, as all living organisms depend on it for the respiration process. There are also animals, birds and plants in the surrounding environment, and each of these organisms has a role in maintaining the ecological balance, so we should not eliminate any of them so that life on earth is not disturbed.

Save The Environment And Save Life (Essay Sample)

Save the environment and save life.

The environment entails anything and everything that surrounds an entity, man included. It includes flora and fauna, water bodies and everything in them, the air, the soil and everything in it. The saying “Save the environment and save life” is vital and rings in every individual’s mind in the today’s world. Most people have embraced the green way and seek to protect nature and prevent the environment from toxic effects that are due to human beings’ daily activities. With the current ecological imbalance and pollution, the environmental situation is highly threatened thus the need to save it. Environmentalists are seeking new methodologies of protecting the environment and thus it has become every individual’s priority to protect the environment and life.

The most threatening challenges relating to the environment is the contamination of air and water bodies, unpredictable weather changes and the depletion of the ozone layer. In short, global pollution.  The alteration of temperatures worldwide is a clear indication that individuals need to preserve the environment. Carbon dioxide is the primary cause of the changes in the global temperature and thus lessening its flow would save not only the environment but also human life.

Man has over time, continued proving that he cannot competently manage the environment in which he lives in. Environmental destruction and degradation has been systematic and consistent. Human beings have been destroying forests and vegetation cover for the sake of settlement and farming. Rivers too, have been diverted for these purposes. Oceans, lakes and seas on the other hand, have been directly or indirectly polluted by effluents dumped in rivers or directly to these water bodies. Industries have continued emitting toxic gases into the atmosphere, such as sulphur dioxide and carbon compounds. Trees have been cur for the purposes of charcoal production as well as timber for construction. In the process, forest cover has slowly but surely been depleted.

The ozone layer is a vital component of the environment and shields people from being destructed by the ultra violet beams. However, human activities have resulted in a continuous exhaustion of the ozone layer due to the increasing levels of chlorofluorocarbons and carbon compounds. Depletion of the ozone layer simply means that the layer protecting the planet from the harmful rays of the sun, is slowly diminishing, resulting in increased exposure to these rays. As it can be seen, failure to conserve the environment is like an indirect death sentence for all forms of life on the planet. Every organism, including man, would be extinct within a few centuries, if the environment isn’t conserved.

A lot needs to be done therefore, to conserve the environment. It calls for a combined effort from everyone, be it that old man in the village or those smart executives in these corporations. Practices such as charcoal burning need to be discouraged completely, to save trees, and to a larger extent, forests from destruction. Forests and other natural vegetation need to be gazzetted and protected. There needs to be more efforts on afforestation as well as reforestation, to increase tree cover. More stringent rules need to be passed against companies that pollute the environment excessively.

The use of aerosols in farming as well as households also needs to be controlled and reduced, since they contribute greatly, to the CFCs in the atmosphere. Human beings are also urged to avoid air contamination by eradicating practices like smoking, increasing the use of private transport and the use of cooling and aeration systems. Water and air are vital components of a quality human life, and thus people should avoid contaminating them. Saving the environment, therefore, saves lives on earth.

Why is Saving Earth so Important?

Our planet Earth is the only planet that provides us with raw materials, oxygen, food which we need for fuel, and other essential materials.

There are a number of reasons why saving the Earth is so important:

  • Our Earth is the only planet that supports life. Despite signs of organic molecules and water on other planets and moons, life is only known to exist on Earth. There would be nowhere else for us to go if not Earth.
  • Our Earth provides us with basic necessities such as medicine, food, clean water, and air to breathe.
  • The combustion of fossil fuels releases harmful greenhouse gases into the atmosphere, which traps heat and warms the earth. Rising sea levels, melting glaciers, and more extreme weather events are just a few of the negative effects of climate change that are already being felt.

Essay on Save Earth in 100 Words

The only planet in the cosmos that is known to sustain life is Earth. Since it is our home, we must take care of it.

There are numerous reasons why protecting the planet is crucial. To begin with, it is our only place of residence. There won’t be somewhere else for us to go if we destroy Earth. Second, Earth gives us food, water, air, and shelter—everything we require to survive. Third, a wide variety of biodiversity exists on Earth, which is vital to human health.

Unfortunately, the health of Earth is being threatened by human activity. Among the difficulties we confront are deforestation, pollution, and climate change.

To save the Earth, we can all do our part. Here are some actions you may take:

  • Cut back on the use of fossil fuels. Make more of an effort to walk or bike, drive less, and take public transit wherever you can.
  • Make the switch to alternative energy sources like wind and solar energy.
  • At home, use less energy and water.
  • Reduce trash via composting and recycling.
  • Encourage companies and groups that are engaged in environmental protection.

Both our own life and the survival of future generations depend on saving the planet. We can contribute to ensuring that our planet is healthy and habitable for many years to come by acting now.

Essay on Save Earth in 150 Words

Since the Earth is our home, it is up to us to preserve it. However, the health of the planet is in danger due to human activity. Among the difficulties we confront are deforestation, pollution, and climate change.

The most important environmental issue of our day is climate change. Greenhouse gases are released into the atmosphere, which causes the earth to warm. Among the detrimental repercussions of climate change that are already being felt are rising sea levels, melting glaciers, and an increase in extreme weather occurrences.

Pollution poses a serious threat to Earth as well. Among the materials we use to damage the air, water, and land are chemicals, plastics, and trash. Not only can pollution harm humans and wildlife, but it can also ruin ecosystems.

Deforestation is another issue. In this, the trees are removed and instead, buildings are constructed.  Forests filter water in addition to providing habitat for species and regulating the climate. Deforestation is one of the primary causes of both climate change and biodiversity loss.

We must take action to safeguard Earth from these threats. We can potentially reduce our carbon footprint by switching to renewable energy sources and consuming less energy. We can also reduce pollution by using less plastic, recycling, and composting. We can also safeguard forests by planting trees and promoting sustainable forestry practices.

Preserving the planet is essential for our own existence as well as that of future generations. To keep our world safe, each of us has a responsibility.

Essay on Save Earth in 200 Words

The only planet in the solar system where humanity can survive is Earth. Since our planet gives us access to fundamental essentials like clean water, fresh air, and food to eat, it is our duty as humans to make sure that it is habitable for future generations.

We can see that, among all the urgent problems, one of the most significant ones that affect humanity is climate change. Among the detrimental repercussions of climate change that are already being felt are rising sea levels, melting glaciers, and an increase in extreme weather occurrences.

Pollution is another major problem. The majority of the materials that are key to pollution of the air, water, and land are harmful chemicals, plastics that are carelessly thrown away, and other materials. This is not only harmful to humans and wildlife but also to the environment.

Deforestation is the third main issue; it is the removal of trees for construction or other purposes, like agriculture. One of the main contributors to both climate change and biodiversity loss is deforestation. Consequently, we need to act to defend Earth from these dangers.

We hope this essay on Save Earth helped you with some knowledge of some of the pressing issues we face on a daily basis and what we can do to save our planet.

This combination of 2003 and 2006 photos shows a northern spotted owl, left, in the Deschutes National Forest near Camp Sherman, Ore., and a barred owl in East Burke, Vt.

A proposal by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to kill roughly half a million barred owls to protect the spotted owl has conservationists and animal welfare advocates debating the moral issue of killing one species to protect another.

The proposal , published in November, garnered attention in recent days after dozens of wildlife protection and animal welfare organizations signed a letter opposing the plan .

In a March 25 letter responding to the proposal, a group of 75 organizations urged Secretary of the Interior Deb Haaland, to scrap what it calls a "reckless" plan. "Non-lethal management actions to protect spotted owls and their habitats should be made the priority action," it read.

To Save Threatened Owl, Another Species Is Shot

To Save Threatened Owl, Another Species Is Shot

But the USFWS says if no action is taken to cull the barred owl population, the northern spotted owl faces extinction.

The barred owl is crowding out its less aggressive relative, the northern spotted owl, in the Northwestern states, according to the USFWS. To ensure the survival of the northern spotted owl, a threatened species, the service is proposing the mass removal of over 470,000 barred owls across California, Washington and Oregon over a three-decade span. The proposed action will also help prevent declines in the California spotted owls, another species facing competition from barred owls, it said.

Animal rights advocates say the proposal is unsustainable

Wayne Pacelle, president of the Center for a Human Economy and its lobbying arm, Animal Wellness Action, who co-authored the letter, called the plan "unworkable." He says it's doubtful that the government's plan can be successfully executed across such a long time frame.

"If you don't do it dutifully and religiously every single year for 30 years, it has no chance of succeeding," Pacelle told NPR.

Biden administration restores threatened species protections dropped by Trump

Biden administration restores threatened species protections dropped by trump.

He argues that lethal management programs often succeed on closed ecosystems such as islands, but a management plan covering such a vast region wouldn't be as effective.

Cameron Barrows, a retired emeritus researcher at the Center for Conservation Biology at the University of California-Riverside, says that without a barred owl management strategy, spotted owls will disappear.

"If nothing is done to slow the encroachment of barred owls, you will lose spotted owls," he said. "There aren't a lot of choices left."

To him, the letter opposing the proposal effectively "means 'We'd rather have barred owls than spotted owls,' " he said.

A conservation organization in Washington also supports the proposed action. Birds Connect Seattle published a letter in January citing "preventing extinction" as one of its priorities.

"We are not celebrating this management plan in issuing our support," said Claire Catania, the executive director of Birds Connect Seattle. But, she says, her organization recognizes its necessity.

How far should people go to remedy a human-created problem?

Conservation experts who support the proposal say it's a difficult but necessary plan that will help solve a problem that humans helped create.

In 1990, the northern spotted owl was listed as threatened under the Endangered Species Act after environmentalists fought to protect the bird's habitat from the logging industry. The threatened designation also means the Fish and Wildlife Service is legally required to protect the northern spotted owl.

But around the same time, the barred owl, originally native to the Eastern U.S., emerged as another threat as it moved West, encroaching on spotted owl territory. Human-driven habitat destruction spurred the barred owls to expand across the country, Catania says. Their move west has since displaced their "smaller, less aggressive cousins," the spotted owl, according to Cornell Lab of Ornithology .

Judge: Trump-era rule change allowing the logging of old-growth forests violates laws

The spotted owl's habitat — old-growth forests — has become "very patchy" due to deforestation and are accessible to the more adaptable barred owl, says Barrows , the UC Riverside conservation researcher.

"This is a problem that humans have created. This wasn't nature happening on its own," Barrows said.

The Fish and Wildlife Service's proposal, outlined in a draft report assessing its environmental impact, is the latest attempt in a more than two-decade effort to save the spotted owl from extinction. A decade ago , the FWS began a four-year experiment to kill up to 3,600 barred owls in the northwest. According to Barrows, this strategy "slowed down but didn't stop" the barred owl invasion.

The public comment period for the proposal closed in January. A final proposal is expected in this spring or summer, NBC News reported .

J.K. Rowling says 'Harry Potter' stars who've criticized her anti-trans views 'can save their apologies'

J.K. Rowling is not on good terms with the "Harry Potter" cast who have opposed her anti-transgender views .

Responding to an X post from a fan about feeling "safe in the knowledge" that Rowling would forgive "Harry Potter" stars such as Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson , who have denounced the author's anti-trans rhetoric , Rowling wrote, "Not safe, I'm afraid."

Her post continued, "Celebs who cosied up to a movement intent on eroding women's hard-won rights and who used their platforms to cheer on the transitioning of minors can save their apologies for traumatised detransitioners and vulnerable women reliant on single sex spaces."

Start the day smarter. Get all the news you need in your inbox each morning.

Radcliffe, Watson and Rupert Grint – who played protagonists Harry Potter, Hermoine Granger and Ron Weasley, respectively, from their childhood to young adult years – have all expressed their support for the trans community in recent years.

After Rowling penned a  personal essay  in June 2020 detailing her beliefs about "trans activism" and young people experiencing gender dysphoria eventually outgrowing them, several "Harry Potter" cast members publicly criticized her comments, which were deemed transphobic.

"I firmly stand with the trans community and echo the sentiments expressed by many of my peers. Trans women are women. Trans men are men. We should all be entitled to live with love and without judgment," Grint said in a statement at the time to the U.K.'s The Sunday Times.

Radcliffe reiterated that "transgender woman are women," in an essay for LGBTQ non-profit organization  The Trevor Project , and Watson said in an X post  that trans people "deserve to live their lives without being constantly questioned or told they aren't who they say they are."

'Harry Potter' at 20: How did childhood fame treat Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint?

The "Harry Potter" stars' criticism also came with a measure of gratitude.

In a 2021 Esquire interview , Grint acknowledged that he's "hugely grateful" for Rowling's work but added, "I think also you can have huge respect for someone and still disagree with things like that."

Though Radcliffe noted that Rowling is "unquestionably responsible" for the course of his life, he added he still feels "compelled to say something at this moment."

Meanwhile, Ralph Fiennes, who played antagonist Voldemort – aka Tom Riddle – said in a 2021 interview with The Telegraph that he couldn't "understand the vitriol directed at" Rowling. "I can understand the heat of an argument, but I find this age of accusation and the need to condemn irrational," Fiennes said.

What J.K. Rowling has said recently about the trans community

Rowling has been loudly criticized − and just as loudly defended − for her anti-trans statements since 2019, when she voiced her support for Maya Forstater , a researcher who lost her job for stating that people cannot change their biological sex. An employment appeal tribunal later sided with her.

The ruling stated that "gender-critical beliefs, which include the belief that sex is immutable and not to be conflated with gender identity" were protected by the European Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and the Equality Act 2010's section on "religion or belief." However, such statements are still subject to discrimination and harassment laws.

What has the 'Harry Potter' cast said? Rupert Grint calls J.K. Rowling relationship 'tricky'

Rowling has recently been vocal on social media about Scotland's new hate crime law , her concern over the number of minors who detransition and findings from the recently published Cass Review , which makes a few dozen recommendations for improving the National Health Service's gender identity services, including using "extreme caution" in prescribing gender-affirming hormone therapy to those between 16 and 18.

In response to Scotland criminalizing "stirring up hatred" relating to age, disability, religion, sexual orientation and transgender identity, Rowling tested the law by listing 10 trans women, including a convicted rapist, sex abusers and high-profile activists on X, saying they were men.

Police Scotland, the U.K. country's national police agency, reportedly told  BBC News  that Rowling's comments on the hate crime law will not be "treated as criminal." The agency added that while complaints on the author's social media posts had been made to police, no action would be taken.

Last month, British TV personality India Willoughby  said she'd reported Rowling to U.K. law enforcement for misgendering her on social media. In an interview , Willoughby said, "For J.K. Rowling to deliberately misgender me knowing who I am is grossly offensive. It is a hate crime."

Last year, Rowling  addressed the criticism  she's received on the podcast  "The Witch Trials of J.K. Rowling ."

"I absolutely knew that if I spoke out, many people who would love my books would be deeply unhappy with me," Rowling said. "Time will tell whether I've got this wrong. I can only say that I’ve thought about it deeply and hard and long and I’ve listened, I promise, to the other side."

Students Are Likely Writing Millions of Papers With AI

Illustration of four hands holding pencils that are connected to a central brain

Students have submitted more than 22 million papers that may have used generative AI in the past year, new data released by plagiarism detection company Turnitin shows.

A year ago, Turnitin rolled out an AI writing detection tool that was trained on its trove of papers written by students as well as other AI-generated texts. Since then, more than 200 million papers have been reviewed by the detector, predominantly written by high school and college students. Turnitin found that 11 percent may contain AI-written language in 20 percent of its content, with 3 percent of the total papers reviewed getting flagged for having 80 percent or more AI writing. (Turnitin is owned by Advance, which also owns Condé Nast, publisher of WIRED.) Turnitin says its detector has a false positive rate of less than 1 percent when analyzing full documents.

The chatbot can synthesize information and distill it near-instantly—but that doesn’t mean it always gets it right. Generative AI has been known to hallucinate , creating its own facts and citing academic references that don’t actually exist. Generative AI chatbots have also been caught spitting out biased text on gender and race . Despite those flaws, students have used chatbots for research, organizing ideas, and as a ghostwriter . Traces of chatbots have even been found in peer-reviewed, published academic writing .

Teachers understandably want to hold students accountable for using generative AI without permission or disclosure. But that requires a reliable way to prove AI was used in a given assignment. Instructors have tried at times to find their own solutions to detecting AI in writing, using messy, untested methods to enforce rules , and distressing students. Further complicating the issue, some teachers are even using generative AI in their grading processes.

Detecting the use of gen AI is tricky. It’s not as easy as flagging plagiarism, because generated text is still original text. Plus, there’s nuance to how students use gen AI; some may ask chatbots to write their papers for them in large chunks or in full, while others may use the tools as an aid or a brainstorm partner.

Students also aren't tempted by only ChatGPT and similar large language models. So-called word spinners are another type of AI software that rewrites text, and may make it less obvious to a teacher that work was plagiarized or generated by AI. Turnitin’s AI detector has also been updated to detect word spinners, says Annie Chechitelli, the company’s chief product officer. It can also flag work that was rewritten by services like spell checker Grammarly, which now has its own generative AI tool . As familiar software increasingly adds generative AI components, what students can and can’t use becomes more muddled.

Detection tools themselves have a risk of bias. English language learners may be more likely to set them off; a 2023 study found a 61.3 percent false positive rate when evaluating Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) exams with seven different AI detectors. The study did not examine Turnitin’s version. The company says it has trained its detector on writing from English language learners as well as native English speakers. A study published in October found that Turnitin was among the most accurate of 16 AI language detectors in a test that had the tool examine undergraduate papers and AI-generated papers.

Schools that use Turnitin had access to the AI detection software for a free pilot period, which ended at the start of this year. Chechitelli says a majority of the service’s clients have opted to purchase the AI detection. But the risks of false positives and bias against English learners have led some universities to ditch the tools for now. Montclair State University in New Jersey announced in November that it would pause use of Turnitin’s AI detector. Vanderbilt University and Northwestern University did the same last summer.

“This is hard. I understand why people want a tool,” says Emily Isaacs, executive director of the Office of Faculty Excellence at Montclair State. But Isaacs says the university is concerned about potentially biased results from AI detectors, as well as the fact that the tools can’t provide confirmation the way they can with plagiarism. Plus, Montclair State doesn’t want to put a blanket ban on AI, which will have some place in academia. With time and more trust in the tools, the policies could change. “It’s not a forever decision, it’s a now decision,” Isaacs says.

Chechitelli says the Turnitin tool shouldn’t be the only consideration in passing or failing a student. Instead, it’s a chance for teachers to start conversations with students that touch on all of the nuance in using generative AI. “People don’t really know where that line should be,” she says.

Trump and Mike Johnson zero in on noncitizen voting. It’s already illegal and very rare.

Former President Donald Trump and House Speaker Mike Johnson pitched new legislation to crack down on noncitizen voting on Friday, despite the fact the practice is already illegal and occurs rarely.

Johnson said House Republicans would introduce a bill to require documentary proof of citizenship to register to vote, speaking at Mar-a-Lago next to Trump as he seeks to fend off threats from his right flank.

“It seems like common sense, I’m sure all of us would agree that we only want U.S. citizens to vote in U.S. elections,” Johnson said, falsely suggesting that “so many people” are registering to vote when they obtain welfare benefits.

It is already a crime to register or vote as a noncitizen in all state and federal elections, though Washington, D.C., and a handful of municipalities in California, Maryland and Vermont allow noncitizen voting in local elections.

And few individuals break those laws.

“This is a crime where not only are the consequences really high and the payoff really low — you’re not getting millions of dollars, it’s not robbing a bank, you get to cast one ballot,” said Sean Morales-Doyle, a lawyer at the Brennan Center for Justice. “But what also makes this somewhat unique is that committing this crime actually entails the creation of a government record of your crime.”

Registering to vote and casting a ballot both leaves a paper trail that elected officials are required by law to routinely review. Some records are available to the public, as well.

“It’s very easy to catch, and you will get caught,” Morales-Doyle added.

The consequences are sweeping, too: noncitizens can face jail time, fines or deportation for voting illegally. Registering to vote alone could carry a five-year prison sentence, according to the Brennan Center.

On the flip side, Morales-Doyle said, requiring documentary proof of citizenship could disenfranchise millions of Americans who do not have access to passports or birth certificates.

Several states have tried to require documentary proof of citizenship in the past, but federal law currently prohibits it in federal elections. Arizona requires it for state elections, alone.

Many have investigated noncitizen voting and found little evidence of it. The Brennan Center found just 30 suspected noncitizen votes amid 23.5 million votes in 2016 , suggesting that suspected noncitizen votes accounted for 0.0001 % of votes cast. Trump’s own election integrity commission disbanded without releasing evidence of voter fraud, even though he’d claimed 3 million undocumented immigrants had voted in 2016 costing him the popular vote.

But Johnson and Trump have both long advanced baseless claims about election integrity. Johnson repeatedly promoted conspiracy theories about the 2020 election and its voting machines being rigged, and he recruited Republicans to back a lawsuit seeking to overturn states where Trump lost.

For Trump, however, the proposal fuses two of his favorite talking points: immigration and voter fraud.

“It’s the sort of story that if you’re inclined to not like immigrants in the first place feels truthy,” said Justin Levitt, a former Biden advisor on democracy issues and election policy expert. “I think that has helped it stayed politically potent even if it hasn’t gotten more true.”

Levitt said when noncitizens do vote, it’s typically a misunderstanding or mistake. He said he recalled an instance where California residents in the process of naturalizing were told they had been granted citizenship and immediately left naturalization interviews to register to vote. They had not been formally sworn in as citizens, however, and therefore were not eligible yet.
