This is a perfect informative speech for beginner English learners . The speaker is a child who is able to speak fluently but with simple words . She also uses her gestures and facial expressions to communicate her emotions with the audience.

This speech is perfect for listening practice . However, learners should be aware that her pauses are not perfect. Learners should focus more on her words and the content of the speech than her intonation or pacing while practicing.

Even though the speaker is a student in the fourth grade, her speech is one of the most interactive speeches I have seen. She starts with a game and is able to make her main point through the game itself.

English learners will enjoy her speech especially because the vocabulary she uses is simple and can be easily learned. But it does not feel like a beginner wrote this speech because she uses her words so well.

This is a short and simple speech about why everyone in the world should get an education. Because the speaker is a child, the speech does not have complex words or sentence structures.

This is also a classic example of an informative speech. The speaker presents the main argument and the facts simply and clearly . She also gives the basic definitions of important terms in the speech itself.

This speech is perfect for English listening and speaking practice because it is so short but also full of useful information. It is also a good example of the standard American English accent .

Emma Watson is a famous English actress who is best known for her role in the “Harry Potter” movie series as Hermione. She is also a United Nations Women Goodwill Ambassador .

In this speech, she is trying to both inform and convince the audience  of why men should support feminism. Feminism is a movement that asks for equal rights and opportunities for women.

She mixes her formal tone with personal stories to do this. The speech is also a good example of British English .

This is a speech taken from the movie “Rocky Balboa.”  In this scene, Rocky, played by Sylvester Stallone, is talking to his son.

His speech is a classic example of a motivational speech . In these kinds of speeches, a person tries to inspire someone else, especially when the listener feels hopeless or is full of shame.

The basic message of the speech is that no matter how strong a person is, he or she will always face difficulties. And even though the message does not sound positive, Stallone’s way of speaking still makes it inspiring.

Stallone is able to communicate his message with love, even though he is criticizing his son and telling him difficult facts about the world. Generally, this is called “tough love” in English.

Listeners should also notice how he uses gestures to make his point .

Compare this speech with the Oprah Winfrey and Martin Luther King speeches (later in this list). All of them inspire their audiences but have really different tones. Stallone’s speech is the most informal and personal while Martin Luther King’s speech is the most formal and written for a large audience. All these speeches are in American English.

Barack Obama was the first African American elected as president by U.S. citizens. He gave this speech after he won the election.

English learners can discover a lot from his speech. Obama talks about the most important issues Americans were facing back then and are still important to them. He also uses a kind of American English that is easy to understand . His speech is mainly about the values that he and Americans stand for.

Obama’s accent is a mixture of standard American English and the way of speaking commonly popular in African American communities. He is an expert in using pauses so that the audience can follow his words without breaking his rhythm.

This speech is a perfect example of the mixture of casual and formal English . David Foster Wallace was an award-winning American writer who wrote about the culture of the U.S.

In this speech, he talks about the value of an education in liberal arts (general academic subjects, as opposed to technical/professional training). He believes that this kind of education teaches you how to think and think about others.

This is a good example of American English. Be aware that in some parts of the speech he also uses swear words (rude/offensive words) to create an emotional impact on the audience. This is very close to how people generally communicate with one another in daily life.

So, this speech is better for learning casual English even though it is a speech given at a university.

Charlie Chaplin is generally known for his gestures and facial expressions. In this movie, he proves that he can use speech as well to inspire and entertain the viewers.

The movie “The Great Dictator” is a satire about the rise of authoritarian governments in Europe. The word “authoritarian” means a person or a government that believes in controlling others and does not believe in freedom.

In this speech, Charlie Chaplin copies Adolf Hitler , but his message is exactly the opposite of Hitler’s ideas.

The interesting thing about the speech is how Chaplin uses short sentences for the most impact . There is also a lot of repetition that makes it easy for the audience to follow the speech.

Chaplin uses the tone, rhythm and pitch of his voice to make the speech interesting instead of using varied words. Chaplin’s speech can be categorized as inspirational or motivational. It does not use formal words but neither is it casual or informal.

Oprah Winfrey is an American talk show host and actor who is known around the world for her interviews. In the 2018 Golden Globe Awards, she was awarded the Cecil B. deMille award .

Her speech at the award show is about many different topics related to American society. She is the first African American woman to be awarded the prize . She talks about how watching an African American celebrity get another big entertainment award many years ago changed her life.

She also talks about sexual assault and the search for justice in American society. The MeToo movement is the main subject of the speech.

Even though the speech is in formal English , Oprah is able to make it emotional and personal .

Learners should focus on how she uses chunking in her sentences . Chunking is the technique of grouping words (called chunks) in a sentence with a slight pause between every chunk. It also helps with intonation and the rhythm of speaking.

This is one of the most well-known speeches of the last century . Martin Luther King Jr. was a leader of the civil rights movement in the U.S. The movement demanded that people of different races should be treated equally. This speech summarized the main vision of the movement using metaphors and repetition .

The speech begins by referring to the “Emancipation Proclamation.”  The proclamation (official announcement) was an order by President Abraham Lincoln in 1863 that freed many slaves in the U.S. Martin Luther King talks about this because most of the slaves were African Americans and it was their first step towards freedom.

Advanced learners can learn about the history and cultural conflicts of America through this speech. It is also a perfect example of the use of formal English to convince other people .

Some of the words used in this speech are no longer common in American English. “Negro” is often regarded as an insult and learners should use words like “African American” instead.

This speech, delivered by the 16th president of the U.S. (Abraham Lincoln, whom we just discussed above) is considered to be one of the best speeches in English .

Lincoln delivered this in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania where many soldiers had died fighting a civil war. It was fought between Americans who wanted to ban slavery and people who did not. Lincoln was there to dedicate a graveyard to the soldiers.

In this speech, Lincoln reminds the people why this was an important war. He mentions that the U.S. was created on the values of liberty and equality. And this civil war was a test of whether a nation based on these values can last for long or not.

He honors the soldiers by saying that they have already “consecrated” the land for the people of America. (“To consecrate” means to make something sacred or holy.) He reminds the audience that they have to make sure that the idea of America as a nation of freedom continues so that the efforts of these soldiers are not wasted.

This is a very short speech . Learners can easily listen to it multiple times in a practice session. But only advanced learners can understand it since it has several difficult words in it. For instance, “score” is an outdated term used for the number 20. And when he mentions the word “fathers” in the first line he is actually referring to the leaders who had founded the country of America.

Even though Shashi Tharoor is not a native English speaker, his English is so fluent that he sounds like one. Learners from India will instantly recognize him because he is famous there for his English skills.

In this video, he is giving a speech as a part of a debate at Oxford University . He lists out arguments that support the idea that the U.K. should give reparations to its colonies. “Reparations” are payments to a country or community for some harm done to them. A colony is a region or a country that is controlled by another country by force.

Britain had a large number of colonies throughout the world between the 16th and 20th centuries. In this speech, Tharoor tries to convince his audience that the U.K. should give something for the damage they did to the countries they had colonized.

This is one of the finest examples of a formal speech in today’s English . Learners who want to go into academics can learn how to organize their arguments with evidence.

The speech is also great for vocabulary practice . Plus, Tharoor has deep knowledge of both the national history of the U.K. and the colonial history of India. Apart from the content of the speech, his way of speaking is also impressive and is similar to formal British English .

This speech is part of a play called “Julius Caesar”  written by William Shakespeare. The play is based on the life and murder of Caesar who was a leader of the Roman Empire. The speech is considered to be one of the finest pieces of English literature .

It is also one of the best examples of the use of rhetoric (the art of speaking and persuasion).

Mark Antony makes this speech after Caesar is killed by other leaders of the Roman Empire. Antony was a close friend of Caesar’s and here he tries to remind the people of Rome that Caesar was actually a good man. He has to convince the people that his murderers like Brutus are actually criminals. But he has to do so without directly blaming the murderers.

Advanced learners should know this speech mainly because of its cultural value.

Many words in this speech have been replaced by other words in today’s English. “Hath” is the older form of “has” or “had.” “Thou” has also been replaced by the word “you.”

So rather than memorizing the vocabulary, learners should focus on how Damian Lewis delivers the speech instead. The intonation, tone, pitch and rhythm is similar to the formal English used today. He is also good at conveying emotions through pauses and expressions.

In his 2008 TED talk, he found an engaging way to talk about classical music to people who know nothing about it. As you can see in the video below, he switches between speaking and playing the piano. And, he isn’t afraid to tell a joke or two.

This speech is a bit more of a challenge than the ones described above. Benjamin Zander speaks fast and in a conversational style, using many examples and short stories to tell his tale .

Vocabulary: A speech is meant for an audience that is filled with different types of people. You need to make sure you are using the right words so your message is conveyed successfully to each and every one. Only the right words can express and highlight your message. Thus, the level of complexity must match the level of the audience of your speech.

Relatable: Your speech is what you make of it, if your speech has incredible points but you don’t deliver it well, it won’t work. Try to include relatable things in the speech to make everyone comfortable and deliver it in a humanized manner so the audience relates to you as well as your speech.

Examples: When you use examples, it helps support and proves your point in a better manner. It also helps convince the audience and result in better engagement. Try using just enough examples so people buy what you are offering and also to add that emotional edge to your speech.

Common Mistakes in English Speeches

Mixing up “lend” and “borrow.” These verbs have opposite meanings: “lend” means to give something temporarily to someone else; “borrow” means to take something temporarily from someone else. 

Example-1: 

• Can you lend me your pen? (correct) 
• Can you borrow me your pen? (incorrect)

Confusing “me too” and “me either.” These expressions are used to agree with someone else’s statement: “me too” is used for positive statements; “me either” is used for negative statements.

Example-2: 

• I like pizza. Me too! (correct) 
• I don’t like pizza. Me either! (correct) 
• I like pizza. Me either! (incorrect) 
• I don’t like pizza. Me too! (incorrect)

Saying, “I have 20 years old” instead of “I am 20 years old”. In English, we use the verb “be” to talk about age; we don’t use the verb “have.” 

Example-3: 

• How old are you? I am 20 years old. (correct) 
• How old are you? I have 20 years old. (incorrect)

Using Double Negatives

A double negative is when you use two negative words in the same sentence; this can make the sentence unclear or change its meaning. 

For Example: 

• I don’t have nothing to say. (incorrect) 
• I don’t have anything to say. (correct) 
• I have nothing to say. (correct)

Misplacing Modifiers

A modifier is a word or phrase that adds information or description to another word or phrase; it should be placed as close as possible to the word or phrase it modifies; otherwise, it can cause confusion or ambiguity.

• He saw a dog walking down the street with a red collar. (incorrect; it sounds like the person was walking with a red collar.)
• He saw a dog with a red collar walking down the street. (correct)

This course will be beneficial if you wish to learn how to communicate with the sounds and music of American English. The purpose is not to increase your vocabulary, nor to improve your grammar, but to deal with the sounds of the words that you speak. Your message is of primary importance, but it may not be understood if your pronunciation is imprecise, inconsistent, or regional. This course is particularly useful for actors or for others who need to speak to diverse audiences, such as when giving a business presentation.

You will have the flexibility of time to experience, at your own pace, aural and visual aspects of a sound. Within the course, students are assessed on their ability to recognize each sound in a variety of contexts and are given feedback on their particular answers.

In-Depth Description

In the context of effective speech, “Standard American” refers to a single standard, devoid of regional influences. Few people in the U.S. grow up speaking Standard American English Dialect; geography plays a major role in the way people speak. An accent or a dialect that could interfere with a clear exchange of ideas with those using a differing dialect or accent.

It is true that there is no official standard, but there is an understood range of acceptability for American English. As a professor of speech for actors, Baker-Shirer aims to teach a manner of speech that communicates the content of words with clarity and consistency.

“Standard American” is not a judgment of value; none of the numerous American dialects is superior to the others. Instead it is a standard for clear, consistent speech recognizable to listeners across dialects. It does not burden the listener with the extra cognitive load of filtering out regional differences before reaching the meaning or intent of the speaker. Speaking Standard American dialect means speaking English that will sound American—simple, unaffected and distinct, devoid of regional influences.

This course is divided into five sections or units:

By the end of this course, students will learn to:

• Articulate sounds and words using the dialect of Standard American English.
• Listen and think in terms of symbols for sounds, using the International Phonetic Alphabet.
• Use the International Phonetic Alphabet to transcribe from the Roman alphabet into the forty-four sounds of Standard American Dialect and vice versa.
• Analyze texts for phrasing, operative words, intonational patterns, degrees of stress.
• Achieve a proper use of weak forms for certain parts of speech in the English Language, making your speech clear and efficient.

Unit 1: American English Speech

• Assess your skills (in recognizing various sounds, sound production, integrating material into speech patterns) relative tostated objectives.
• Recognize appropriate study strategies in particular situations.
• Use the OLI learning environment effectively to support your learning.

Unit 2: Basics

• Articulate the aspiration and unaspiration of the three stop-plosive consonants.
• Articulate the voiced and voiceless consonants.
• Identify individual sounds within a word.
• Recognize when a consonant is voiced or unvoiced.
• Use the guidelines for syllabification to correctly divide words.

Unit 3: American English Intonation

• Discriminate between the four degrees of stress in American English Speech patterns.
• Increase ability to identify the melody of American English Speech.

Unit 4: Vowels

• Differentiate between vowel sounds.
• Position lips, jaw and tongue to create various vowel sounds.
• Use the vowel quadralateral to guide sound production.
• Demonstrate proper pronunciation of each vowel.
• For the five long vowels, articulate the general rules for vowel length.
• Match the correct phonetic symbol with its corresponding sound.
• Recognize and avoid common errors in the pronunciation of each vowel.

Unit 5: Diphthongs

• Articulate the general rules for diphthong length.
• Demonstrate proper pronunciation of each diphthong.
• Recognize and avoid common errors in the pronunciation of each diphthong.
• Demonstrate proper pronunciation of ɑə̆.
• Demonstrate proper pronunciation of ɛə̆.
• Demonstrate proper pronunciation of ɪə̆.

• Identify the methods to weaken words in connected speech: musically with intonational patterning, force, tempo, pitch, and phonetically with vowels and consonants changed or omitted
• Improve your production of spoken American English by using weak forms when needed for beauty and clarity of speech
• List strong and weak forms of all commonly used words that have weak forms
• Pronounce function words accurately, using correct weak forms of the words
• Recognize easily the words that qualify for weakening in any text
• Speak prose passages using weak forms when applicable and in doing so, speak text believably
• Work with the natural rhythm of spoken American English, avoiding the habit of pronouncing every word in a phrase as a content word

1. Nouns are words that are used to name people, places, animals, ideas and things. Nouns can be classified into two main categories: Common nouns and Proper nouns . Common nouns are generic like ball, car, stick, etc., and proper nouns are more specific like Charles, The White House, The Sun, etc.

2. Pronouns are words that are used to substitute a noun in a sentence. There are different types of pronouns. Some of them are reflexive pronouns, possessive pronouns , relative pronouns and indefinite pronouns . I, he, she, it, them, his, yours, anyone, nobody, who, etc., are some of the pronouns.

Examples of pronouns used in sentences:

• I reached home at six in the evening. (1st person singular pronoun)
• Did someone see a red bag on the counter? (Indefinite pronoun)
• Is this the boy who won the first prize? (Relative pronoun)
• That is my mom. (Possessive pronoun)

3. Verbs are words that denote an action that is being performed by the noun or the subject in a sentence. They are also called action words. Some examples of verbs are read, sit, run, pick, garnish, come, pitch, etc.

Examples of verbs used in sentences:

• She plays cricket every day.
• Darshana and Arul are going to the movies.
• My friends visited me last week.
• Did you have your breakfast?
• My name is Meenakshi Kishore.

4. Adverbs are words that are used to provide more information about verbs, adjectives and other adverbs used in a sentence. There are five main types of adverbs namely, adverbs of manner , adverbs of degree , adverbs of frequency , adverbs of time and adverbs of place . Some examples of adverbs are today, quickly, randomly, early, 10 a.m. etc.

Examples of adverbs used in sentences:

• Did you come here to buy an umbrella? (Adverb of place)
• I did not go to school yesterday as I was sick. (Adverb of time)
• Savio reads the newspaper everyday . (Adverb of frequency)
• Can you please come quickly ? (Adverb of manner)
• Tony was so sleepy that he could hardly keep his eyes open during the meeting. (Adverb of degree)

5. Adjectives are words that are used to describe or provide more information about the noun or the subject in a sentence. Some examples of adjectives include good, ugly, quick, beautiful, late, etc.

Examples of adjectives used in sentences:

• The place we visited yesterday was serene .
• Did you see how big that dog was?
• The weather is pleasant today.
• The red dress you wore on your birthday was lovely.
• My brother had only one chapati for breakfast.

6. Prepositions are words that are used to link one part of the sentence to another. Prepositions show the position of the object or subject in a sentence. Some examples of prepositions are in, out, besides, in front of, below, opposite, etc.

Examples of prepositions used in sentences:

• The teacher asked the students to draw lines on the paper so that they could write in straight lines.
• The child hid his birthday presents under his bed.
• Mom asked me to go to the store near my school.
• The thieves jumped over the wall and escaped before we could reach home.

7. Conjunctions are a part of speech that is used to connect two different parts of a sentence, phrases and clauses . Some examples of conjunctions are and, or, for, yet, although, because, not only, etc.

Examples of conjunctions used in sentences:

• Meera and Jasmine had come to my birthday party.
• Jane did not go to work as she was sick.
• Unless you work hard, you cannot score good marks.
• I have not finished my project,  yet I went out with my friends.

8. Interjections are words that are used to convey strong emotions or feelings. Some examples of interjections are oh, wow, alas, yippee, etc. It is always followed by an exclamation mark.

Examples of interjections used in sentences:

• Wow ! What a wonderful work of art.
• Alas ! That is really sad.
• Yippee ! We won the match.

Protests erupt on campuses across the US in opposition to the Gaza genocide and attack on free speech

In the wake of the arrests of over 100 pro-Palestinian Columbia University student protesters on Wednesday last week, a growing movement of students and youth has swept across the United States. Within days of the crackdown, which was coordinated between Columbia President Nemat Minouche Shafik, Democratic New York City Mayor Eric Adams, the New York City Police Department (NYPD) and the Biden White House, solidarity protests have spread across the country.

Last Friday, hundreds of students at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut, established a protest encampment in Beinecke Plaza on the university campus. Twenty-four tents were erected outside of a Board of Trustees dinner honoring outgoing President Peter Salovey, with students demanding that Yale disclose its investments in military weapons and manufacturers supplying the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) and divest from them. 

On Monday morning, similar demonstrations emerged at New York University (NYU), as well as at universities in the greater Boston area including at Emerson College, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Tufts University.

Student protesters also set up camp on the University of Maryland campus Monday. Several dozen students at the University of Michigan set up a protest encampment occupying The Diag, a large open space in the middle of campus. At the University of California, Berkeley, students established an encampment on the steps of Sproul Hall in the center of campus. Students at Cal Poly Humboldt in Northern California occupied Siemens Hall and were confronted by police in riot gear. Protests at The New School in New York City continued through Monday.

Encampments at the Columbia campus have been revived and continued to grow despite the arrests of students on Wednesday. By mid-afternoon on Monday, hundreds of Columbia professors staged a spontaneous walkout in protest of the crackdown on students. Demonstrators walked out of their remote teaching offices and gathered on the lawn in front of the protest encampment, brandishing signs that read, “Hands off our students.” Clearly fearing a further expansion of the protest, the university administration has announced that it will move all classes online until the end of the spring semester on April 29.

The ruling class has responded to the rapid spread of protests with a growing police-state crackdown. By Monday morning, Yale University police had arrested 47 protesters and charged them with criminal trespass. On Monday evening, NYPD riot police descended upon the NYU protest encampment at Gould Plaza outside the Stern School of Business and arrested dozens of student and faculty protesters. Live-streamed videos of the arrests are circulating widely on social media. According to social media reports, at least 300 people marched to the nearby police precinct to demand the release of the students and faculty members arrested. NYPD officers have occupied Gould Plaza. As of this writing, hundreds were protesting the arrests.

The crackdown was clearly coordinated at the highest levels of the state, with the Democratic Party and far-right Republicans. On Sunday, Joe Biden and the White House issued statements backing the assault on free speech on campuses. On Monday, New York state Governor Kathy Hochul gave a duplicitous video address outside of the main Columbia campus which was accompanied by the statement that “[t]he recent harassment and rhetoric is vile and abhorrent. Every student deserves to be safe.” 

Repeating the slanderous equation of anti-genocide protests with “antisemitism” that now forms the basis for the persecution of anti-war protesters, many of whom are Jewish, Hochul implied the issues at play on the Columbia campus were that of religious persecution. She said, “this is a country founded on people searching for religious freedom, fleeing religious persecution elsewhere. No one here on college campuses should feel that they are being persecuted because of their religious beliefs.” The real antisemites are now being mobilized and promoted by the Democratic Party and figures like Hochhul in the campaign to abolish free speech. Last December, immediately following the McCarthyite House Committee on Education and the Workforce Committee hearings, led by the fascistic Republican New York Representative Elise Stefanik, which ousted University of Pennsylvania (UPenn) Liz Magill, Hochul praised the hearings and threatened to withdraw funding from public universities which did not similarly crack down on pro-Palestinian speech. 

Stefanik, for her part, released a statement on behalf of Republican New York state members of Congress Monday morning to denounce Columbia University’s President Minouche Shafik for insufficiently cracking down on the protests. The letter called on Shafik to resign due to her “failing to put an end to an unsanctioned mob of students and agitators.”

Jonathan Greenblatt of the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), a right-wing Zionist organization, visited the Columbia campus and called for the redeployment of the NYPD onto the campus, as well for a National Guard presence on campus. These calls were later echoed by fascistic, Trump-supporting Republican senators Josh Hawley (Missouri) and Tom Cotton (Arkansas) on Monday. 

Prominent leaders of the union bureaucracy have joined the attacks by the fascist Republicans and the Democrats on the protesters. The president of the American Federation of Teachers (AFT) union, Randi Weingarten, who shook hands with admirers of the Ukrainian fascist and antisemite Stepan Bandera in Ukraine in 2022, denounced the Columbia protesters as “antisemites.”

Weingarten wrote on X/Twitter, “The antisemitic chants from protestors outside of Columbia University are horrific, unacceptable examples of antisemitism. This hatred and vitriol understandably puts Jewish students, professors and the community on edge. Hate speech that threatens violence is not protected speech under the law & must be condemned—calling for divestment is protected free speech, calling for the killing of Jews is not. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: hate does not belong on campus.”

This vicious campaign to smear opponents of genocide as “antisemites” is a state provocation, aimed at justifying a war on democratic rights and the state slaughter of Palestinians in Gaza. It lacks any credibility.

The IYSSE spoke with Elijah, one of the student protesters at Yale University and a member Yale Jews for a Ceasefire. Responding to the slanders of “antisemitism” hurled at protesting students and faculty, Elijah said,

Anti-Zionism is absolutely not equivalent to antisemitism! Of course it’s true that there have been incidents of antisemitism on campuses, other places in the country and in the world. But the accusation of antisemitism is now often weaponized against people who are simply dissenting against what’s going on in Gaza. They’re opposing it in a totally evidence-driven, completely principled, completely reasonable way, and they’re accused of peddling hateful ideology that they really have nothing to do with. 

Pointing to the large number of Jewish students and faculty opposed to the genocide and involved in the countless protests, Elijah noted:

It’s insulting to Jews who have experienced and whose families have experienced real antisemitism. People who escaped something as horrible as the Holocaust are now fighting to make sure nothing like that ever happens again. To accuse them of antisemitism, I think, is hurtful and baseless. Many of us are descended from families who experienced the Holocaust, experienced pogroms and are motivated by a conviction that should never be allowed to take place in our lifetime or at any time in the future.

He described the development of the protests at Yale:

The general mood on campus is one of horror at what’s been going on in Gaza over the last six months. On campus, students have protested outside Board of Trustees meetings. We had many, many people, I believe it was over 100 at a previous protest. We held a vigil in November that easily drew over 100 people. There are students who have gone on a hunger strike. There was a hunger strike at Brown, I believe last month, and now we have students here on hunger strike. There is a vital and active culture of student organizing that has effectively mobilized in the months after October 7, throughout this war, and hopefully I think it will continue to be energized. I think particularly when it comes to an issue like divestment, we know that the administration is invested in weapons contractors, weapons manufacturers, who sell weapons to the Israeli military and are directly complicit in this war. But even in terms of Yale’s publicly disclosed investments—and I’m not an expert on this subject—Yale is invested in index funds and other kinds of funds that have holdings in these companies supplying weapons to the Israeli military. Those are in the portfolio, publicly disclosed, confirmed. Yale and many other major universities are absolutely corrupt, beholden to these corporate investments, which we reject. It’s absolutely hypocritical for a university that espouses rhetoric of free inquiry, free speech and students having the right to express themselves, using censorship and repression so obviously.
