2-2 Assignment: Personal Bias Kassandra Nieves Southern New Hampshire University Soc 213: Sociology of Social Problems

  • Is complete objectivity impossible to achieve? Why? Or why not?
  • Objectivity is nearly impossible to achieve because not everyone has the same point of view on certain topics and not everyone has had the same upbringing. For example, someone from a Hispanic household may be used to different customs than someone of Caucasian descent. In a Hispanic household, often we are taught that family and faith are the most important parts of our lives but in other races that may not be the same. Another example of this would be a post that is seen through social media. If the post is centered around making a joke about hispanics, some hispanics may not see it as funny but someone of another race may find it to be halarious.
  • How do culture (religion, learned appropriate social responses, etiquette), environment (where you were born, friends, family structure), and personal characteristics (race, gender, socioeconomical status) affect objectivity?
  • A person's culture could be a complex issue. variables shape the focal point through which they see the world, and culture impacts how they see it. An individual's objectivity can be affected by numerous distinctive circumstances, counting family, race, status in society, and how they were raised. Culture gives the system for how we organize our considerations and sentiments. Furthermore, it influences the questions we inquire and how we see the answers we get. Inclinations and suppositions approximately the God we serve and whether we select to take after the devout way at all are made by our society and environment. A individual who was raised in a certain confidence, like Christianity, may have biased ideas almost somebody who is an skeptic. Since their social values and
