About Dr Ng Siew Li
I am a Clinical Psychologist, registered with the Malaysian Society of Clinical Psychology. I am trained in conducting psychological assessment as well as providing psychotherapy to various groups of individuals, including children, adolescents, and adults.
My interest in mental health began when I witnessed the aftermath of the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami at our own shores in Malaysia. This led me to begin volunteering in disaster relief work and mentoring programs for children and youth. I had felt both powerless and unequipped to help survivors of natural disasters. But it has encouraged me to learn how to help these survivors cope with their trauma. Hence, I was prompted to seek training in clinical psychology.
Qualifications
Following my undergraduate degree in psychology, I pursued both my master’s and doctoral degrees in Clinical Psychology from Central Michigan University (CMU), United States of America. Having completed 5 years of clinical training in the US, I then returned to Malaysia to teach and practice as a Clinical Psychologist. I am registered with the Malaysian Society of Clinical Psychology (CP1-078) and currently also teach at HELP University.

Being brought up in the urban area of Kuala Lumpur, I have seen the different ways people cope (or not) with stress and trauma, which manifests itself differently in different people. Unfortunately, most Malaysians do not talk about any trauma that they have experienced. Trauma can happen to anyone from any socio-economic background and each person has his or her own unique way of interpreting and coping with stressors. The specialized training I have received from the Trauma and Anxiety Disorders Clinic at CMU has taught me evidence-based treatment in helping people who have experienced traumatic experiences as well as anxiety concerns such as panic attacks and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). I then received further training at a shelter for domestic violence and sexual assault survivors, helping to empower women and children.
My clinical training allowed me to work with people with various concerns. I have had the opportunity to work with adults, adolescents, children, and families who have experienced concerns, such as depression, relationship issues, worries and phobias, stress, addictions, ADHD, behavioural and disciplinary problems, personality disorders, schizophrenia, mania, as well as problems with memory. During my pre-doctoral clinical internship program, I have been trained to work with people with early psychosis, managing crisis situations, as well as conducting neuropsychological assessments for patients in a hospital setting.
In addition to providing individual and group therapy, I have been teaching at HELP University for the past 6 years, training clinical psychologist trainees for the Master’s in Clinical Psychology program. I also provide mental health workshops and corporate trainings for various mental health-related topics.
For more information about Dr. Siew Li’s Experience & Research Publications please click here.
I am primarily trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) , which focuses on addressing individuals’ thoughts, actions, and emotions. As suggested by the CBT model, I believe that modifying negative thoughts or unhelpful behaviours can help to change people’s emotions and help them feel better because our thoughts, actions, and emotions are all inter-related.
Reading news articles about how people with serious mental illness are being mistreated and neglected fuels my interests in working with underserved populations. As each person has different needs and styles, I like to incorporate other evidence-based techniques to cater to my clients’ needs when addressing their concerns and promoting growth within my clients. For example, mindfulness-based techniques and motivational interviewing have proved to be helpful. I am able to provide therapy in English, Cantonese, and Malay.
I respect differences in culture, and I am dedicated to work with clients, regardless of their age, sex, religion, national origin, or sexual orientation to address their concerns. I believe in working with my clients as a team and empowering them to take ownership of the change they are making in their lives. Making any changes in life can be difficult and scary especially when you feel like you are doing it alone, without knowing which might be the right direction. If you would like to start making that change, let me work with you to make your goal a reality.

He trained specifically at the Roswell Cancer Center and the Children's Hospital of Buffalo. He began working at the Urological Associates of Central Jersey in 1998, where he began treating the current patient population that he has today. WHAT PEOPLE SAY
I, Divine T, would like to make a few comments about Dr. Robert Noh. During my scheduled procedure, I was confused but Dr. Noh took his time to explain in details about how the procedure will go and the recovery time. He was very confident of his explanation and that made me comfortable. I will surely recommend him to friends and family members.
Thank you Dr. Noh
I have interstitial cystitis and went to the doctor for over a year. He could not figure out what was wrong, I was beginning to think I was crazy. When my doctor announced his retirement, I had the option to go to one of his associates. I chose Dr. Robert Noh. With my first appointment and a cystoscopy I was diagnosed 1 month later with I.C. and the treatment began. I am forever grateful for the care and understanding that I have received. I have been a patient for over 15 years.
Dr. Noh is a highly competent and knowledgeable urologist/surgeon whose superb medical skills are matched by his excellent "bedside" manner. Even during uncomfortable procedures, Dr. Noh does his best to put patients at ease and to empathize with their situations. Dr. Noh is not only thorough in his examination but patient in his explanations of findings, recommended treatment/procedures -- if needed, and any required follow-up. As good as he is, Dr. Noh is never smug and not afraid to recommend another specialist if your particular problem would be better treated by another physician. If you are in Central Jersey and need a urologist, I recommend Dr. Noh without equivocation!

Dr Abdillah Noh is an Associate Professor in the History and International Studies programme. He is intrigued by institutions, and the idea of institutional change and that interest has taken him to an eclectic range of projects from politics, economic, public policies to historical works. Having worked in the realms of institutions and institutional change for many years, he is convinced of the need to appreciate and understand state or organisation’s social, political, historical and economic character before recommending any forms of institutional change. While he believes that agency is important to any institutional change process, any judgement or policy prescription must be based on a deeper appreciation of the organisation or state’s political, economic, social and historical imperatives. He aims to collaborate with people from various research backgrounds who are equally interested in the idea of institutions and institutional change.

Patient Experience Reviews
Every person in the hospital are so kind for the last two years. ***
We loved Dr. Mahipal and we trust his judgement. He is very caring and wants the best outcome for his patients.
Initial meeting so not sure about accuracy of answers- some questions don't apply
Good visit. Provider answered all questions, etc.
Pays close attention to what I'm saying. Gets right to the point with explanations. I can see his concern in his eyes. He would do anything to fix my situation. One of the kindest doctors I've ever had the pleasure of working with.
I saw this provider in connection with clinical trials and to discuss further treatment for my medical condition.
Dr. Mahipal is the most compassionate and knowledgeable physician I have ever met. He is passionate about his patients. And his thirst for knowledge in his field is evident. No better physician out there!
Our experience was a good one, considerate professionals who modeled a caring attitudes within a caring environment.
Industry Relationships
University Hospitals is committed to transparency in our interactions with industry partners, such as pharmaceutical, biotech, or medical device companies. At UH, we disclose practitioner and their family members’ ownership and intellectual property rights that are or in the process of being commercialized. In addition, we disclose payments to employed practitioners of $5,000 or more from companies with which the practitioners interact as part of their professional activities. These practitioner-industry relationships assist in developing new drugs, devices and therapies and in providing medical education aimed at improving quality of care and enhancing clinical outcomes. At the same time, UH understands that these relationships may create a conflict of interest. In providing this information, UH desires to assist patients in talking with their practitioners about industry relationships and how those relationships may impact their medical care.
UH practitioners seek advance approval for certain new industry relationships. In addition, practitioners report their industry relationships and activities, as well as those of their immediate family members, to the UH Office of Outside Interests annually. We review these reports and implement management plans, as appropriate, to address conflicts of interest that may arise in connection with medical research, clinical care and purchasing decisions.
View UH’s policy (PDF) on practitioner-industry relationships.
As of December 31, 2016, Amit Mahipal did not disclose any Outside Relationships with Industry.
