A perfect Movie with no plot holes or missing characters. props for the awesome CGI
Review by Richard L. Haas III ★★½
“You take away consequences and people show their true colors.”
Look, I don’t know why, but I’m a sucker for cheap CGI dino flicks— especially from China ( Crocodile Island was one I watched most recently and kind of enjoyed). So I jumped at the chance to see this… then I realized it was a loose sequel to the American b-flick The Jurassic Games , so I watched that first. And that was surprisingly a lot of fun. So with this film, I figured I’d at least lean into the cheese and watch how it was culturally meant to be watched but I legit could not find a Chinese copy anywhere— not like it mattered because according to an interview with the…

“ You take away consequences and people show their true colors.”
Much like the director’s other dinosaur movie, Jurassic Games, this is a surprising fun low to No budget dinosaur movie that never feels it’s length at all. This is especially shocking considering it’s one of those Chinese American genre movies which are usually really really bad.
In a way it almost feels like a Chinese remake of Jurassic Games in many respects with many details changed but the overall premise of Battle Royale meets Dinosaurs. The major difference being how the characters are written. The cast of this movie are more likable and way less mean spirited than the characters in Jurassic Games. Though the trade off seems to…

A Sequel in a way to Jurassic Games which this movie even opens ups to as a quick reminder of what we're going to be going into.
The film is pretty much the same thing except it's a VR game and rinse and repeat of Battle Royale/Hunger Games with no ideas. Even copies ideas from Jurassic Park 3.
Seems the writers in this are also bias against characters for some reason. Seems if you're not a certain race, you're dinosaur fodder but, it's made for a target audience so it makes sense I guess.
It's much worse than Jurassic Games as it's more dull and not horror with having more blood and carnage of people being visibly injured or blown up to pieces!!
There's much worse dinosaur movies out there with lower budgets than this. But it makes you want to rewatch other films this copies it's ideas from even more.

Eat your heart out Colin Trevorrow. Chinese and American producers and the director and writer of that awful Jurassic Games movie starring Ryan Merriman have teamed up to bring you the less vulgar and less nasty/mean spirited version. And that movie was a Running Man/Death Race clone with Merriman playing the Damon Killian role. No, this one is all about a bunch of game testers competing in a test run for a VR Dinosaur game for a cash prize, so no the stakes are incredibly low in this thing, no one actually dies in the game. But you still have some nasty hackers/game developers who ruthlessly trying to win this VR game by any means necessary so they can copy…

Review by Seanathan ★★★½ 2
A lot of fun eventhough it can be corny at times. A harmless dino flick to throw on as a decent distraction.
Review by Jim ★
If the opening minutes of Dinosaur World look somewhat familiar, there’s a good reason for that. In 2018 director Ryan Bellgardt (Army of Frankensteins, Gremlin) made a film called The Jurassic Games which proved quite popular in China. He was approached to do a remake for the Chinese streaming market. So he and writer Chris Hoyt (The Adventures of Jurassic Pet) along with a pair of Chinese writers Xing Haishun and Wu Chenglei reworked the script for that market and filmed it in Oklahoma with a Chinese cast and a mix of new and recycled effects. And now that version is getting a North American release.
The VR version of the popular game Dinosaur World is about to come out…
Review by Cody ★★½
Dinosaur World surprisingly wasn’t as bad as I was expecting it to be. There’s an interesting concept that brings up some interesting conversations, espeically when it comes to morality within a game, but ultaimtely, this film is a low budget production, so the acting is iffy at best and has some pretty bad visual effects. If this actually had a larger budget and some better acting, I think this actually could be an idea worth looking into more. Overall an interesting and entertaining film, even if it doesn’t have the best acting or effects.

The 10 Best Dinosaur Movies of All Time
Top dinosaur movies that go beyond just jurassic park..
Dinosaurs captivate all ages. The creatures that dominated Earth ages ago, populating our world for 165 million years in total, will never not be fascinating. And on screen, as part of movie history, dinosaurs have always been a go-to genre for incredible spectacle and chilling thrills - whether you're into t-rexes, pterodactyls, raptors, or gentle giant brontosauruses.
The Jurassic Park/World franchise has raked in $6 billion in box office bucks over the past 30 years, proving that these glorious beasts can bring home the bacon. Sometimes movie fans are transported back in time, to the era of these wondrous reptiles while other instances show dinosaurs living among us, either on a secluded island lost to history or as cloned beings brought back by science for our amusement (and dismemberment).
Here are the 10 best dinosaur movies, from trampled theme parks to warring prehistoric titans.
The 10 Best Dinosaur Movies
Jurassic Park (1993)
Where to Watch: Peacock , or rentable on most platforms.
Um, duh. Yup, not only is Spielberg's Jurassic Park one of the best "dinosaur movies ever," it easily doubles as one of the "best movies ever." Adapted from Michael Crichton's novel (and second story about a futuristic amusement park gone lethally haywire), Jurassic Park is endlessly entertaining and infinitely quotable, providing equal parts laughter and horror. Sam Neill, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum star in this tyrannosaurus-sized tale about scientists evaluating a - er - unique family attraction before it opens to the public. Hold onto your butts, because this appraisal winds up with a body count.
See our guide on how to watch the Jurassic Park movies in order .
Jurassic World (2015)
More than 20 years after the original Jurassic Park (which wound up becoming a trilogy), Jurassic World kicked off a new segment of the franchise, with greedy corporations and opportunistic scientists learning nothing from previous tragedies and opening "Jurassic World" to patrons everywhere. Naturally, things go horribly awry and carnage ensues and Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard anchor a budding dino-apocalypse. The films would eventually bring back the original three stars but the first World installment stands tall as a formulaic but fun feast for the senses.

The Land Before Time (1988)
Where to Watch: Netflix , or rentable on most platforms.
From George Lucas and Steven Spielberg, this Don Bluth animated classic blossomed into a decades-spanning franchise featuring 13 sequels, several video games , and a TV series. The story of a young orphaned dinosaur named Littlefoot, who embarks on a great journey to find a paradise called the Great Valley, The Land Before Time is a beautifully animated '80s staple. The saga teaches kids about the importance of friendship, the dangers of prejudice, and the power of hope.
Dinosaur (2000)
Where to Watch: Disney+ , or rentable on most platforms.
Disney's Dinosaur , the company's 39th animated feature, finds a lot in common with The Land Before Time as it also follows a young orphaned dino, this time on a trek to discover to the idyllic Nesting Grounds after a meteor shower devastates their island. A mix of live-action, many of the backgrounds were filmed on location while the dinos themselves were computer-generated, making it the most expensive computer-animated film at the time. Voiced by D.B. Sweeney, Julianna Margulies, Alfre Woodard, Ossie Davis, Joan Plowright, and Hayden Panettiere.
The Good Dinosaur (2015)
Where to Watch: Disney+, or rentable on most platforms.
Though it's technically the first Pixar film to not quite meet profitable expectations, The Good Dinosaur is wacky, charming family entertainment, supplemented by the voices of Sam Elliott, Anna Paquin, Jeffrey Wright, and three-time Oscar-winner Frances McDormand. Like most animated dino films, the story involves a thrilling, meaningful journey, though this time it's within an alternate history where reptilian dinosaurs never went extinct. In The Good Dinosaur, a shy Apatosaurus, Arlo, meets an unlikely human friend while traveling through a dangerous and mysterious landscape in order to return home.
Read our review of The Good Dinosaur .
King Kong (1933)
Where to Watch: HBO Max , or rentable on most platforms.
Most King Kong films are good for a ravenous dino or two, so why not revisit the 1933 original and watch humans discover Skull Island, home of not only Kong but prehistoric life of all kinds: including the Tyrannosaurus-rex, the Stegosaurus, the Pteranodon, and more. King Kong is a classic, famous for being a true spectacle at the time with game-changing special effects, from stop-motion pioneer Willis O'Brien. Kong is still thriving today, as part of Legendary's MonsterVerse, next to be seen in 2024's Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire .
Kong: Skull Island (2017)
King Kong's MonsterVerse reboot began in Kong: Skull Island, a rollicking Vietnam War-era adventure starring Tom Hiddleston, Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, and John Goodman as a part of a mix of scientists, soldiers, and scholars trapped on Kong's dreaded isle of terrifying creatures. In a twist though, the island's usual dinosaurs have been beaten and eaten by new giant monsters, unique to the film and the MonsterVerse itself. And it totally works. Separating itself from the Jurassic Park/World franchise, Kong: Skull Island gave viewers a fresh batch of nightmare fuel to fawn over.

One Million Years BC (1966)
This '60s British fantasy-adventure, from Hammer Films, starred Raquel Welch as a cavewoman struggling to survive in a fictional past where humans and dinosaurs coexisted. A remake of a film from 1940, One Million Years BC is a largely enjoyable, kitschy featuring dinosaurs (and giant sea-turtles) roaming a scortched Earth, brought to life by stop-motion genius, and Willis H. O'Brien apprentice, Ray Harryhausen (Jason and the Argonauts, Clash of the Titans).
The Valley Of Gwangi (1969)
Where to Watch: Rentable on most platforms.
Another Harryhausen home run was cult dino-Western, The Valley Of Gwangi, as the stop-motion pro took over the project from mentor Willis O'Brien after O'Brien passed away before production. The story itself was conceived by O'Brien and combined cowboys and dinosaurs as a rodeo horse is revealed to be a fifty million-year-old, prompting members of a Wild West show to venture into Mexico's Forbidden Valley in search of fame and untold wealth. There, however, they confront prehistoric monsters, including "Gwangi," a giant dinosaur that decimates their ranks.
Land of the Lost (2009)
Where to Watch: Fubo , or rentable on most platforms.
Will Ferrell and Danny McBride turn a 1970s Sid and Marty Krofft TV series (which itself got a short-lived '90s revival) into a comedic romp in Land of the Lost, where a mysterious vortex sucks a disgraced scientist (Ferrell), his assistant (Anna Friel), and a survivalist Will (McBride) into a world populated by marauding dinosaurs and fantastically bizarre creatures.

Upcoming Dinosaur Movies
A dinosaur movie coming up that's worth keeping on your radar comes from the director of It Follows , David Robert Mitchell, and will star Anne Hathaway. According to rumors, the film has been titled Flowervale Street , and is rumored to be about dinosaurs and set in the 80s.

If a film had been made in the Cretaceous age, it might have looked a lot like "Dinosaur." The movie is startling in its impact. Against a backdrop of nature, which is clearly real, we see dinosaurs that are scarcely less real. We feel the same sense of wonder that was stirred by " Jurassic Park ." These great beasts ruled the earth much longer than we have, their unlikely bodies sketched out in exaggerated Darwinian strokes.
The visual look of "Dinosaur" is a glimpse of wonders to come. The movie sends the message that computer animation is now sophisticated enough to mimic life itself in full motion, with such detail that the texture of reptilian skin seems as real as a photograph in National Geographic. The problem, as always, is to match the artistry with the technique.
The film opens with a little short story about an egg. The egg is first glimpsed in the nest of an iguanodon, which is fairly friendly-looking, as dinosaurs go. Predators attack the parents and disturb the nest, and then the egg is snatched by a scampering little critter who runs away with it. There's a fight for possession, the egg drops into a stream, is swallowed and then disgorged by a river monster, is snatched up by a flying creature and finally dropped from the sky to land in the habitat of lemurs.
Lemurs are of course about as cute as mammals can get. There were not any lemurs who looked like this at the time of the dinosaurs, but nevermind: The movie does a little overlapping of its eras to expand the cast and to give the mammals in the audience a point of identification. The egg hatches, a mother lemur takes the baby iguanodon into her arms, and then . . . she speaks.
I can't tell you how disappointed I was to hear that voice. I guess I had forgotten that this movie wasn't going to be a reckless leap into the distant past, but a fairy tale in which the dinosaurs are human in all but outer form. They not only talk, they have personalities, and argue, plan, scheme and philosophize, just like humans. They even have human values; when one of the leaders says it's going to be "survival of the fittest" on a long desert trek, he comes across as cold and heartless. If there is one thing I think I know about dinosaurs, it's that sentimentality for the underdog played no part in their decision-making.
I wonder why I was disturbed by the sound of dinosaurs with human voices. I know that cartoons can speak. I expect them to. When the dinosaurs spoke in " The Land Before Time ," that was fine with me. But "Dinosaur" looks so real that it didn't play like an animated film for me--it feels more like a nature documentary. There is a continuum reaching from Mickey Mouse to "Jurassic Park," and at some point on that continuum the animals stop wisecracking and start eating one another. "Dinosaur" feels too evolved for cute dialogue.
Why are we as a species so determined to impose our behavior on creatures that are manifestly not human, and all the more wondrous for not being so? Why must we make the past more "accessible" by translating it into the terms of the present? At one point during the desert trek, simians climb aboard a dinosaur for a free ride, and the dinosaur complains, "Just what I need--a monkey on my back." A dinosaur, even one that spoke English, would be unlikely to know what that line implies--and so will the kids in today's audience.
I don't know if Disney has a house rule about which animals can speak and which cannot, but guidelines seem to be emerging. The rule is, if you are a predatory carnivore, you don't talk, but if you are a pacifist, a vegetarian or cute, you do. In " Tarzan ," the apes spoke, but the leopards didn't. In "Dinosaur," all of the creatures speak, except for the vicious carnotaurs. A Faustian bargain seems to be at work: If you are an animal in a Disney picture, you can speak, but only if you are willing to sacrifice your essential nature.
All of this is of limited interest, I know, to the hordes clamoring to see this movie. Most younger kids probably assume that dinosaurs can speak, because they hear them speaking on TV every day. Even adults will probably not wonder if dinosaurs really roared. I enjoyed the movie as sheer visual spectacle, and I felt a certain awe at sequences like the meteor shower or the discovery of water beneath a parched lake bed. I was entertained, and yet I felt a little empty-handed at the end, as if an enormous effort had been spent on making these dinosaurs seem real, and then an even greater effort was spent on undermining the illusion.

Educational Value
The natural habitat and different species of dinosaurs are beautifully rendered. The film also reproduces many physical phenomena: landslides, meteor showers, animal migration, and prehistoric creatures' fight to survive.
Positive Messages
Heartily encourages teamwork and standing together to accomplish goals. The survivors are those who refuse to give up and decide to fight for their lives. Also promotes helping the less fortunate even when it's risky. Great leaders are those who truly care about the welfare of their followers.
Positive Role Models
The film's dinosaur-hero is loyal, generous, and very brave; he clearly shows a willingness to risk his own life to help the less fortunate. The audience roots for dinosaurs of multiple species who band together against a common enemy. Some of the prehistoric creatures speak with Southern and African-American dialects. Characters demonstrate teamwork and integrity.
Violence & Scariness
Landslides, meteorites, a tsunami, a cave collapse, fire, and enemies all threaten the heroic dinosaurs. The carnotaurus (carnotaur) is the main predator -- often shown in attack mode, close-up, toothy, and viciously roaring. There are many brutal one-on-one fights (and some kills) between mega-strong dinosaurs. The main, humanized characters, whom the audience has grown to like, are often in great danger.

Sex, Romance & Nudity
Lemurs comically prep to meet potential mates. Aladar meets and falls in love with his life partner. Dinosaur eggs figure prominently in the story.

Parents Need to Know
Parents need to know that Dinosaur is a Disney film set in prehistoric times that is filled with battles to the death, vicious predators, and heroes frequently in danger from both nature and enemy species. The filmmakers use spooky music, very dark settings, and ferocious roars to heighten the intensity. Alternating with survival-of-the-fittest sequences are ones set in a world of beauty and accessibility featuring warmhearted dinosaur heroes and comic, loving lemurs. Enjoyable, but watch with young kiddos
Luke loves dinosaur 2000, what's the story.
In DINOSAUR, Aladar is an orphan iguanodon raised by monkey-like lemurs. When flaming meteors destroy their home, they join a group of dinosaurs trying to find food and water. The leader of the group, Kron, insists that stopping to help the older or slower dinosaurs is too dangerous. But Aladar shows the others that cooperation, teamwork, and kindness make more sense because then everyone gets a chance to contribute.
Is It Any Good?
Disney worked very hard to make sure that the faces of the dinosaurs were expressive, but should have worked a little harder on giving them some more complex and subtle emotions to express. Aladar just is not that interesting a character. Even in a movie for kids, it's not enough for the characters to overcome some external challenge. What makes a story get into your heart is seeing the characters learn and grow and overcome internal challenges. It is a marvel of skill, but does not have half of the heart or wit of the Toy Story movies or A Bug's Life .
The technological mastery of Dinosaur is dazzling to watch, though, especially the textures. Fur, scales, eggshell, water, and goo are all so vivid you can almost feel them. It is a shame that the story and characters are not as strong as the visuals, though that will be more of a problem for adults than kids.

Families can talk about the narrator in Dinosaur says that "sometimes the smallest thing can make the biggest changes of all." What is the "smallest thing," and what are the changes?
Families may also want to talk about how the lemurs decide to "adopt" the huge dinosaur, and about how some species are intolerant of others.
How does being treated with kindness change the way some of the characters behave? How does making Baylene feel needed change the way she behaves?
How do the characters in Dinosaur demonstrate teamwork and integrity ? Why are these important character strengths ?

Screen Rant
Only these 4 dinosaurs have been in all 6 jurassic park movies.
Jurassic Park has grown into the world's biggest dinosaur adventure franchise, but only a few dinosaurs have appeared in all of its six movies so far.
- Triceratops is a social and gentle dinosaur that appears in all six main Jurassic Park movies.
- Velociraptors are crafty and intelligent, evolving to have a more accurate portrayal in the Jurassic World films.
- Tyrannosaurus, or T-Rex, is a dominant force in the franchise, showcasing intelligence and strength throughout.
The Jurassic Park franchise introduces an array of wacky and interesting prehistoric creatures throughout its installments, but only four dinosaurs consistently appear in every single movie. 1997's Jurassic Park, based on the Michael Crichton novel of the same name, is still a huge success years later and has since spawned several movies and TV shows in Jurassic Park 's franchise , entertaining audiences through multiple exciting adventures. So far, there are six main movies in the franchise, with the most recent being Jurassic World 4 , which is due to be released in 2025.
Dinosaurs are the selling point of the Jurassic Park films, and many of them appear in more than one. While the selection is always diverse, there are also some bizarre dinosaurs Jurassic World 4 needs to use that have yet to make their debut in the franchise, such as the Gigantoraptor, which was originally meant to be in Jurassic World, only for the plan to be scrapped. Although Jurassic Park teaches the world about multiple dinosaurs, both fictional and factual, it's worth noting which of the prehistoric creatures appear in all six of the main movies.
4 Triceratops
A sweet and social species.
The Triceratops is one of the more commonly seen dinosaurs in the Jurassic Park franchise, easily identified by its three horns and huge frilled head. The Triceratops is also one of the most commonly found fossils by researchers, so it makes sense that they appear so often throughout the movies. Unlike some of Jurassic Park 's dinosaurs, which are wildly inaccurate , the Triceratops is relatively factual in comparison to the real-life prehistoric creature.
In all six movies, the Triceratops are a rather social species, although they were much easier to approach later on in the franchise, especially in Jurassic World .
In 1997's Jurassic Park, Dr. Alan Grant (Sam Neill) and Dr. Ellie Sattler (Laura Dern) encounter a sick Triceratops and attempt to help it. However, because of the tropical cyclone, they are unable to do so, and it ends up being released. It has been implied that the Triceratops lost its life during the Tyrannosaurus' rampage, although it was never clarified. In all six movies, the Triceratops are a rather social species, although they were much easier to approach later on in the franchise, especially in Jurassic World.
In Jurassic World, the Triceratops species are split up according to age. The baby Triceratops live in the Gentle Giants Petting Zoo for children to pet or even carefully ride, whereas the adults roam the Gyrosphere Valley for visitors to get up close and personal with them. Unfortunately, when the Gentle Giants Petting Zoo is attacked by the Aviary, one of the babies is snatched away by a Pteranodon because of its small size.
Luckily, the Triceratops are one of the key species that Claire Dearing (Bryce Dallas Howard) aims to save from the island in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. At one point, she and Owen Grady (Chris Pratt) find themselves in close proximity to three Triceratops, two adults, and one infant, who had been saved from death by Maisie (Isabella Sermon). This moment truly shows that the Triceratops were victims of some terrible treatment , and their natural docility was taken advantage of.
3 Velociraptor
Crafty and intelligent, yet vicious.
The crafty Velociraptor often takes up screen time in all the Jurassic Park movies and is known for becoming one of the franchise's most iconic symbols. The Velociraptor can also be brutally violent and can cause deep, bloody, fatal wounds with its sharp claws. Jurassic Park 's interpretation of the Velociraptor is a combination of several other genera, and compared to the actual dinosaurs, it looks very different. This is because they are mainly based on the Deinonychus species in the original novel, from which the film was inspired.
However, this changes as the franchise progresses. For example, in the first Jurassic Park, the Velociraptors are significantly larger than the real thing and missing feathers on their heads. In the Jurassic World movies, however, the Velociraptors are given more focus and redesigned to be smaller and truer to their source, which is a much more fitting appearance for the creature. The Velociraptor is the first dinosaur to ever appear in the series, and in the opening scene of Jurassic Park, one is seen transported into its enclosure, setting up the tone of the entire film.
These scenes are a great example of why the Velociraptors are so dangerous, as even when left alone, any sign of life can trigger them into attacking.
In The Lost World: Jurassic Park , the escaped Velociraptors from the first film inhabit a small town evacuated by Hurricane Clarissa. However, the remaining humans are left to fend for themselves against the dinosaurs as they attempt to escape and reach a helicopter. These scenes are a great example of why the Velociraptors are so dangerous, as even when left alone, any sign of life can trigger them into attacking.
In Jurassic World, much like the Triceratops, the Velociraptor is significantly more domesticated than in previous films, having been trained and given names such as Echo, Charlie, and Delta. However, Blue is the absolute favorite of trainer Owen Grady, and the Velociraptor's strong bond with him is essential to his survival throughout the film. Blue is also the first Velociraptor to be a recurring dinosaur character in the franchise and she returns in both Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom and Jurassic World: Dominion .
2 Tyrannosaurus
The titan of the jurassic park series.
The Tyrannosaurus, also known as the T-Rex, dominates each and every Jurassic Park movie. This is not just because of its size, which is factually accurate, but also because of the sheer fear factor it brings to its scenes. The Tyrannosaurus is another dinosaur that has fictional elements in its design in the books and movies, and according to researchers, they never had any issues with their eyesight. In Jurassic Park, it is established that the T-Rex can only see things that are moving, which makes the characters' attempts at survival even more tense, but it's not scientifically accurate.
Before all chaos breaks loose in Jurassic Park , a large T-Rex skeleton can be seen on display in the visitor's center, which is to an accurate scale and demonstrates just how easily it could destroy anyone passing with the stomp of a foot.
Before all chaos breaks loose in Jurassic Park, a large T-Rex skeleton can be seen on display in the visitor's center, which is of an accurate scale and demonstrates just how easily it could destroy anyone passing with the stomp of a foot. There is also a paddock for the Tyrannosaurus, and in one scene, a female T-Rex, also known as Rexy, rejects a feeding, which is a sign of the incoming destruction rumbling in the distance. However, when she does escape, she doesn't hesitate to feed on the nearby humans with her bone-crushing bites.
Not only is Rexy a titan-sized force, but she is also amazingly clever and knows how to protect herself in a fight.
Rexy returns once again in Jurassic World, this time happily chomping down on a goat. After the Indominus Rex escapes, Rexy is used to fight back in an attempt to recapture it. This scene brilliantly shows all the Tyrannosaurus' best features. Not only is Rexy a titan-sized force, but she is also amazingly clever and knows how to protect herself in a fight. Although the Indominus Rex eventually overpowers Rexy, she allows Blue to assist her, another sign of her incredible intelligence.
This isn't the only time a Tyrannosaurus pushes itself into battle, however. In Jurassic World: Dominion, a T-Rex teams up with a Therizinosaurus to destroy the Giganotosaurus, and they manage to kill it. Although this was done in the name of protection, that particular Giganotosaurus is the last of its kind, implying that its death brought the species back to extinction once again. After the events of this film, it seems that the Tyrannosaurus species is relatively safe for now, with Rexy reaching the Biosyn sanctuary and reuniting with Buck and Doe from The Lost World: Jurassic Park.
1 Parasaurolophus
A herd of herbivores.
The Parasaurolophus is easily identifiable because of the shape of its head, its incredible speed, and being one of the few herbivore species in the Jurassic Park franchise. In the opening scene of Jurassic World: Dominion, Owen Grady is herding a group of Parasaurolophus in the wilderness of the Sierra Nevada mountains. This scene proves just how insanely fast the Parasaurolophus are, leaving behind a flurry of snow in their wake as they sprint by. According to paleontologists, the actual species could achieve speeds of up to 25 miles per hour, although it feels even quicker in the films.
The Parasaurolophus are generally peaceful, at least until they feel threatened, which occurs in every single Jurassic Park movie.
The Parasaurolophus are generally peaceful, at least until they feel threatened, which occurs in every single Jurassic Park movie. As they are herbivores, many scenes that feature the Parasaurolophus see them sticking as a flock and grazing together or playing with one another. At a glance, the Parasaurolophus species are harmless, and even when the security system is disabled in Jurassic Park, they continue to roam happily. Because of this, it's unclear what happens to this specific herd after the events of the film, although the species does reappear.
The Parasaurolophus' relaxed nature is also seen in The Lost World: Jurassic Park .
The Parasaurolophus' relaxed nature is also seen in The Lost World: Jurassic Park. When Hurricane Clarrissa hits, a handful of them survive and start peacefully co-existing with other species, such as the Brachiosaurus and the Stegosaurus. It is also the same in Jurassic World, as the Parasaurolophus spend their days slowly wandering around the Gyrosphere Valley or the Gentle Giants Petting Zoo with the Triceratops. Although the Parasaurolophus aren't violent, they always have a brilliant determination to prevail.
In Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom , one can be seen trying to escape the erupting volcano and desperately swimming away. This scene, where the dinosaur slips on a rock and presumably falls to its death, was simply heartbreaking, especially as this particular creature hadn't contributed to any human deaths or damage to the park. Although the Parasaurolophus species aren't as prominent in Jurassic Park , mainly as they don't cause as much damage as the others, they are an important reminder that not all the creatures are dangerous.

Comedian Ashley Storrie calls herself “#neurofunky” in her Instagram bio; she is on the spectrum, but her differences can be subtle. Her character in Dinosaur , the series she co-created, is also autistic, and a lot of what makes the show funny is how the ways she interacts with her world are upended when her little sister impulsively gets engaged.
DINOSAUR : STREAM IT OR SKIP IT?
Opening Shot: A closeup of a woman arguing about justice and fairness. What she’s really arguing for is that she can make a cold drink her frequent-customer free coffee at the stand near her office.
The Gist: Nina MacArthur (Ashley Storrie) is a research assistant at the Natural History Museum of Glasgow, and paleontology is her passion. She’s also autistic, which tends to come out via her brutal honesty, love of routine, and a myriad of sensory issues. One of the routines she loves is hanging out with her younger sister Evie (Kat Ronney), especially on days like “Takeaway Tuesday”, where they eat takeout and watch reality shows.
But when Evie shows up at the museum, she has news: She’s getting engaged to her boyfriend Ranesh (Danny Ashok), who she only met six weeks ago. Nina, being the fountain of truth that she is, is horrified by the news, mainly because she thinks it’s too soon. But she’s also wondering about how it impacts her.
She thinks their parents aren’t going to approve, but their dad Ade (Greg Hemphill) and mom Diane (Sally Howitt) are ecstatic. Their brother Bo (David Carlyle) is happy for Evie but is preoccupied with his own girlfriend. He tries to tell Nina that she needs to accept it, but knows it’s tough for her because she won’t even eat Cheerios in the morning. “I don’t eat foods with holes, so the point is moot,” Nina tells him.
At work, Nina’s smarmy boss Shane (Ben Rufus Green), who doesn’t want feathers on the dinosaur models even though it’s accepted science because that’s not what people want to see, invites Nina to the office’s “team building bowling” outing. But Nina, who has to remind Shane that she’s autistic when he complains to her about being too much of a truthteller to the visitors, can’t stand wearing bowling shoes or putting her fingers in used bowling balls.
Evie wants Ranesh to join her and Nina for Takeaway Tuesday; Nina reluctantly agrees but becomes highly annoyed when Ranesh brings in food he made himself and is generally just too talkative. It prompts her to get up and go to the bowling alley, despite the noise and her abject refusal to rent shoes or stick fingers in strange balls.
What Shows Will It Remind You Of? The vibe of Dinosaur is similar to that of Starstruck , even though the main character here is negotiating a whole lot of changes in her life, not just romance.
Our Take: Storrie created Dinosaur with Matilda Curtis, based on a pilot they made for BBC Three in 2021. It’s definitely a character-driven show, with almost all of the humor coming from the way Nina interacts with her world and her family. It’s refreshing because Nina is one of the first characters we’ve seen who is on the spectrum, and is open about it.
But she’s also a character whose autism is subtle, likely fairly close to how Storrie is in real life. Nina has the ability to mask what she calls her weirdness, though as anyone with ASD can tell you, that masking can be exhausting. We see a lot of it in the second episode, where Nina has to play point when everyone in her family meets Ranesh’s strict dad Sachin (Sanjeev Kohli) for the first time. The more she has to be someone she’s not, the harder it gets for her.
We enjoyed the nuances of how Nina interacts with the world and where the comedy comes from in this series. Again, she’s a person who loves routines, so having Evie get engaged throws her for a huge loop. But there are other changes she’s going to have to navigate, like a promotion at work and a burgeoning relationship with Lee (Lorn MacDonald), the new barista at the coffee stand.
Because Storrie knows her neurodivergence so well, she knows that what makes Nina funny is not that she’s autistic, but that she owns how her brain works. Given that the rest of her family has its own quirks, it makes for a show that has plenty of chances to get big laughs out of character motivations as opposed to straight-up gags.
Sex and Skin: Nothing in the first episode.
Parting Shot: Evie asks Nina to be her maid of honor. Nina pretends to celebrate, but soon a look of horror comes over her.
Sleeper Star: Sabrina Sandhu plays Amber, a friend of Evie’s who is in the wedding party. We see her in the second episode, and she does a good job of demonstrating why her character has the not-very-nice nickname “Mad Amber.”
Most Pilot-y Line: “It’s just a rustic peasant dish I picked up from my summer in Firenze,” says Ranesh about his pasta, trying to put an Italian spin on “Firenze.” We’d be annoyed at him there, too.
Our Call: STREAM IT. Dinosaur isn’t gut-busting funny, but its humor is purely character-driven, and it gives a view of autism that we’ve rarely seen on TV.
Joel Keller ( @joelkeller ) writes about food, entertainment, parenting and tech, but he doesn’t kid himself: he’s a TV junkie. His writing has appeared in the New York Times, Slate, Salon, RollingStone.com , VanityFair.com , Fast Company and elsewhere.

10 Incredibly Bizarre Dinosaurs Jurassic World 4 Needs To Use
- New dinosaurs like Gigantoraptor, Pegomastax, and Psittacosaurus can add diversity to the Jurassic World franchise.
- The new era of the Jurassic World franchise could be the perfect time to explore some of the weirder dinosaurs which haven't yet made an appearance.
- Jurassic World 4 can show lesser-known dinosaurs to a huge audience, highlighting the advances in paleontology in recent years.
With Jurassic World 4 aiming for an ambitious Summer 2025 release, speculation is heating up over which dinosaurs could make their debuts in the franchise. Each Jurassic World movie introduces some new dinosaurs to terrorize the human characters. While the Velociraptors and the T. Rex are usually the most important, adding in new dinosaurs helps enrich the world of the franchise, and a bigger variety is a treat for all dinosaur lovers.
Jurassic World faced criticism for inventing new dinosaurs . The new Jurassic era could go back to basics by only depicting real dinosaurs, but this doesn't mean that the franchise has to rely on the same few creatures. There are countless weird and fascinating dinosaurs which haven't ever made an appearance in the franchise. Introducing some of the world's weirdest dinosaurs could be a great way for Jurassic World 4 to showcase the mind-boggling diversity of dinosaur life without having to invent any genetic hybrids.
Jurassic World 4: Release Date & Everything We Know About The Next Jurassic Park Movie
Gigantoraptor, a massive oviraptor that dwarfed its closest relatives.
There were plans to include a Gigantoraptor exhibit in Jurassic World, with concept art drawn up for the enclosure, but these plans were ultimately scrapped.
Gigantoraptor was the largest known species of oviraptosaur, measuring roughly 25 feet in length and weighing in at 2 metric tons. Oviraptors were feathered dinosaurs that ate eggs, either from other species or from other individuals of the same species, but it was unusual for them to be very large. Gigantoraptor's name suits it well, because it was about three times as long as the next-largest known oviraptor.
There were plans to include a Gigantoraptor exhibit in Jurassic World, with concept art drawn up for the enclosure, but these plans were ultimately scrapped. Gigantoraptor would still be a great dinosaur for the new Jurassic World era , simply because it's so unlike anything else that the franchise has had before. Analysis of Gigantoraptor's mandibles suggest that it had a shearing bite which could have helped it eat meat and plants as well as eggs, so humans could be on the menu in Jurassic World 4.
Helicoprion
A prehistoric shark with a jaw like a buzz saw.
Helicoprion was a shark-like fish, but it's distinguishing feature was its spiral of teeth which ran perpendicular to its top jaw.
Helicoprion wasn't technically a dinosaur , but the Jurassic World franchise has many prehistoric creatures which aren't dinosaurs. Animals like Quetzalcoatlus and Mosasaurus existed alongside dinosaurs, but they were part of evolutionarily distinct groups. Helicoprion was one of the strangest prehistoric animals known to science, so including it in Jurassic World 4 would shift the franchise toward a weirder portrayal of the distant past.
Helicoprion was a shark-like fish, but it's distinguishing feature was its spiral of teeth which ran perpendicular to its top jaw. Because it was a cartilaginous fish, its skeleton didn't fossilize. This means that the jaw is the only part of Helicoprion which scientists can analyze, but it's strange enough to make the animal stand out immediately. Different paleontologists have presented different theories on how exactly the jaw would have looked when Helicoprion was alive.
Suzhousaurus
Long claws, thick plumage, and a round body.
The rounded body and broad shoulders almost resembled a large flightless bird, like a kiwi or even a dodo.
Suzhousaurus was a relative of one of the weirdest dinosaurs in Jurassic World: Dominion , Therizinosaurus. Suzhousaurus had long claws like Therizonosaurus, but its distinct appearance made it even more unusual. The rounded body and broad shoulders almost resembled a large flightless bird, like a kiwi or even a dodo. Suzhousaurus was roughly 20 feet long and would have probably weighed over three tons.
Therizinosaurus is key to one of Jurassic World: Dominion 's most terrifying scenes, in which Claire has to seek cover underwater as the giant dinosaur scans the forest above her. Suzhousaurus may be a little weirder, so it might not have the same intimidation factor as Therizinosaurus, but its massive size and its long, powerful claws would surely make it a fearsome dinosaur for anyone to come face to face with.
Scarlett Johanssons Jurassic World 4 Casting Would Continue A Surprising Cross-Franchise Trend
Psittacosaurus, a parrot-beaked dinosaur with strange quills.
The long bristles on the top of its tail could have been used for communication or to warn off predators, but in either case they would give Psittacosaurus a striking look.
The name "Psittacosaurus" means "parrot lizard," and one look at the dinosaur's unusual skull is enough to see how it got this moniker. Psittacosaurus had a short, sharp beak like a parrot , and paleontologists generally believe that it had a similar diet, eating seeds, nuts and other plant matter. Psittacosaurus was low to the ground. Its head would have been roughly at knee-height to the average adult human, and it would have weighed around 40 pounds or less.
The Jurassic World franchise tends to focus on huge dinosaurs, so that they can tower over the human characters. Psittacosaurus wouldn't have the same kind of role, but it would be a very interesting inclusion if Jurassic World 4 wanted to add a wider variety of dinosaurs. Psittacosaurus looks so odd that it would even stand out in the background. The long bristles on the top of its tail could have been used for communication or to warn off predators, but in either case they would give Psittacosaurus a striking look.
A small dinosaur with a beak and sharp teeth
Its most shocking feature was its sharp teeth, which were partially concealed within a beak.
Pegomastax specimens have been found in South Africa, and they have been dated to the Early Jurassic period. Its most shocking feature was its sharp teeth, which were partially concealed within a beak. This would have given Pegomastax the appearance of a bird with very sharp teeth, although it's a mystery how big the beak was and what shape it took. Some paleontologists have theorized that it was a short, rounded beak, while others suggest it was long and sharp.
There is only one known specimen of Pegomastax, so there are a lot of mysteries about how it lived. One thing that seems likely is that Pegomastax had an odd number of teeth, with one particularly long tooth on its bottom jaw . Despite this serrated weapon at the front of its mouth, Pegomastax was probably a herbivore, which makes it an even more unusual dinosaur. Pegomastax would have been small enough to pick up and carry around, but it would still be a great addition to the Jurassic World franchise.
Deinocheirus
A hunchbacked dinosaur with a huge duck-like bill.
With the claws of a sloth, the hump of a camel and the mouth of a duck, Deinocheirus would look utterly bizarre in Jurassic World 4.
Like Therizinosaurus and Suzhousaurus, Deinocheirus had extremely long claws that could cause some serious damage, but this isn't even the most visually astounding part of its anatomy. Deinocheirus had a large hump or possibly a sail, like a Spinosaurus, and it had a huge duck-like bill. Although its bite was relatively weak, Deinocheirus' size and claws would make it a formidable threat.
Jurassic World 4 could have bigger dinosaurs than the franchise has ever had before, so Deinocheirus would be a perfect fit. Estimates place Deinocheirus at around six and a half tons, and it would have been roughly 36 feet long. With the claws of a sloth, the hump of a camel and the mouth of a duck, Deinocheirus would look utterly bizarre in Jurassic World 4. It also had a large fan of feathers at the tip of its tail , as if it needed any more strange physical features.
Jurassic World 4 Must Overcome 1 Challenge That's Baked Into Its Premise
A dinosaur which resembles a mythical fire-breathing dragon.
"Dracorex hogwartsia" means "Dragon King of Hogwarts," because its unusual skull shape resembles the kinds of dragons from the Harry Potter franchise.
"Dracorex hogwartsia" means "Dragon King of Hogwarts," because its unusual skull shape resembles the kinds of dragons from the Harry Potter franchise. Although it looks like a Hungarian Horntail, Dracorex was actually related to Pachycephalosaurus, which has appeared in the Jurassic World franchise already, but it looks completely unique. Pachycephalosaurus had a rounded skull which it would use to headbutt its rivals, but Dracorex lacks this distinctive feature.
Dracorex's skull has spikes and frills which mean that it probably wouldn't butt heads like a Pachycephalosaurus. Some scientists have suggested that the single specimen of Dracorex which has been discovered could be a juvenile Pachycephalosaurus, but there isn't too much evidence to back up this claim. At over 13 feet long, Dracorex would be a terrifying dinosaur for the new era of the Jurassic World franchise. It would also be a speedy runner, making it even more dangerous.
Tsintaosaurus
Nicknamed "the unicorn dinosaur".
What makes Tsintaosaurus stand out from other hadrosaurs like Edmontosaurus and Shantungosaurus is its unusual head crest.
As a hadrosaur, Tsintaosaurus had a large duck-like bill which it would probably have used for grinding vegetation. What makes Tsintaosaurus stand out from other hadrosaurs like Edmontosaurus and Shantungosaurus is its unusual head crest. Some of its close relatives, like Parasaurolophus, also had distinctive crests, but none of them looked quite like Tsintaosaurus. Some scientists have dubbed Tsintaosaurus "the unicorn dinosaur".
There isn't enough evidence to conclusively ascertain what Tsintaosaurus' distinctive horn was used for. The hollow structure could have been used as a way of increasing the efficiency of respiration, allowing Tsintaosaurus to take in oxygen while breathing out as well as breathing in, just like modern birds. Other theories suggest that the horn was part of a larger crest, or that it was used to attract mates.
Concavenator
Not only was Concavenator a ferocious predator with a high top speed, but it also has a unique appearance that would distinguish it from the T. Rex and other large carnivores in the franchise.
The Jurassic World franchise often introduces new carnivorous theropods to rival Rexy, and if Jurassic World 4 replaces the T. Rex , then Concavenator would be a great candidate. Not only was Concavenator a ferocious predator with a high top speed, but it also has a unique appearance that would distinguish it from the T. Rex and other large carnivores in the franchise.
Concavenator's most unusual feature was its spine, with several elongated vertebrae sticking up from the lower back, near the base of the tail. It's a mystery what these vertebrae were for , and paleontologists can't even agree on whether the bones supported a sail or a fatty hump. Concavenator looks like many other theropods, except for this one confusing feature. Jurassic World 4 could propose its own theories about how Concavenator looked and behaved.
10 Unfinished Jurassic World Storylines That Jurassic World 4 Could Continue
Longisquama, scientists have proposed different theories on how longisquama's quills functioned.
Some researchers believe that the scales were spread perpendicular to the spine so that Longisquama could glide through the air, but other reconstructions place the scales straight on top of the spine like an elongated ridge.
Longisquama is one of the weirdest dinosaurs ever discovered . Known only from one poorly preserved skeleton and a few incomplete fossil impressions unearthed in Kyrgyzstan, Longisquama has been puzzling scientists ever since it was first described in 1970. The long scales protruding from Longisquama's back are unlike any other dinosaur that has been discovered, and some scientists have theorized that the scales could simply be plant matter that was coincidentally next to the skeleton.
Assuming the scales are part of Longisquama, and this is generally accepted to be the case, there are several competing explanations for their form and function. Some researchers believe that the scales were spread perpendicular to the spine so that Longisquama could glide through the air, but other reconstructions place the scales straight on top of the spine like an elongated ridge. If Jurassic World 4 wanted some weirder dinosaurs, Longisquama would be the perfect candidate.

The movie is startling in its impact. Against a backdrop of nature, which is clearly real, we see dinosaurs that are scarcely less real. We feel the same sense of wonder that was stirred by "Jurassic Park." These great beasts ruled the earth much longer than we have, their unlikely bodies sketched out in exaggerated Darwinian strokes.
