In order to activate this quest, you will have to finish Professor Garlick’s Assignment 1. It’s a level 6 quest, and to start it, you have to go and talk to Professor Garlick who can be found at the Greenhouses in The Library Annex.
This quest has 2 major objectives:

- Acquire all three combat plants and use them simultaneously
Click Here And Check Mongrel Fur Location In Hogwarts Legacy!
The first objective in the quest is to buy Fluxweed Seeds. To do that, you need to go and find Timothy Teasdale in West Hogsmeade. The seeds can be purchased for 350 coins each.
From there, your next location is to go and buy Potting Table with a Large Pot Spellcraft from Tomes and Scrolls shop. It can be found in the southern part of Hogsmeade.
Talk with Thomas Brown, and you can buy it for only 1000 coins from him.
Now, once you have the Fluxweed Seeds and the Potting Table, go back to the Room of Requirement in Hogwarts where you will have to plant the seeds.
First, must place your potting table inside the room, and then select the fluxweed and plant it on the table.
The Fluxweed seed needs 15 minutes to grow up, and then you can harvest and complete the first objective of the quest.
For the second objective, you will have to go and speak with Beatrice Green who can be found in the Dogweed & Deathcap store. Here you can purchase the Venomous Tentacula, Mandrake, and Chinese Chomping Cabbage.
You will need to acquire all three combat plants and use them simultaneously. You can select them from your inventory and just place them inside the room.
Once you complete both objectives, the last thing is to return to Professor Garlick. After the conversation with her, you will be rewarded with the new spell Flipendo.
That’s it! We hope our guide helped you with completing this quest, and you can stay tuned for more upcoming articles like this one. Good luck!

Hogwarts Legacy Professor Garlick’s Assignment 2 Guide
by enricofairme · Published February 9, 2023 3:54 PM · Updated October 3, 2023 1:46 AM
Hogwarts Legacy Professor Garlick’s Assignment 2 is a special request you receive in game. To complete this request you need to acquire different plants for use in and out of battle. The plants need for the side quest are the Venomous Tentacula, Mandrake, Chinese Chomping Cabbage, and Fluxweed. To help you find these plants and complete the assignment use our guide below.
Grow and Harvest Fluxweed
The first objective to complete during this assignment is to grow and harvest Fluxweed. To do this you need to acquire a Fluxweed Seed and a Large Planter . Both of these items can be purchased in Hogsmeade. Visit The Magic Neep to get the Fluxweed Seed and the Tomes and Scrolls shop to buy a Large Planter (if needed).
Once you have both the Fluxweed Seed and the Large Planter head to the Room of Requirement . In this room place the Large Planter down and put the Fluxweed Seed inside of it. Wait 10 minutes for Fluxweed Plant to grow and pick the Fluxweed Stem. This completes this objective.
Acquire Venomous Tentacula, Mandrake, and Chinese Chomping Cabbage
An objective for this assignment is to acquire Venomous Tentacula , Mandrake , and Chinese Chomping Cabbage . All three of these Combat Plants can be acquired from the Dogweed and Deathcap store in north Hogsmeade. This shop sells both the seeds and the plant versions of the three plants needed for this objective. Buy one of each either plant or seed to ensure you have all three available in your Items. If you go the seed route you can use Fertilizer to improve the yield of each plant.
Use all Three Combat Plants Simultaneously
Once you have all three of the plants listed above the next step is to use them all simultaneously. This is fairly simple to do. Head somewhere that you can trigger the Combat Plants. Make a manual save just incase and the trigger the three Combat Plants in a row. An easy method is to throw Venomous Tentacula then Chinese Chomping Cabbage and then trigger the Mandrake. Do this successfully and you will complete the objective. Go back and speak to Professor Garlick. She will teach you the Flipendo spell.

Acquire All Three Combat Plants and Use them Simultaneously
Another place to get them is Dogweed and Deathcap . You have likely already been there, but if you forgot, the shop is the building farthest north on the Hogsmeade map ( location on the map ).
Let’s check our shopping list:
- Chinese Chomping Cabbage (1)-300 galleons
- Mandrake (1)-500 galleons
- Venomous Tentacula (1)-600 galleons
You might also evaluate if you want to buy the seeds instead. If you’re going for a build that focuses on Herbology , then you’ll want to keep your items stocked. Planting your own seeds and harvesting them at the Potting Table instead of buying items will be more economical in the long term if that’s the case. Though, it all can be an investment of its own.
Now that you have all the items, you can proceed in two ways.
Grow and Harvest Fluxweed
If you thought you were done spending money, then I’m sorry for this next step.
First, you will need to acquire Fluxweed Seeds which can be purchased at the Magic Neep for 350 galleons. Then you need to head over to Tomes and Scrolls and buy the Spellcraft , Potting Table with a Large Pot for 1000 galleons. Finally, fast travel to the Room of Requirement , so you can plant the Fluxweed Seeds.

Hogwarts Legacy – Professor Garlick’s Assignments
Assignment 1
You’ll receive the first assignment for Professor Garlick from an owl post after learning the Confingo spell during the main story. She will task you with obtaining a Venomous Tenatcula and using it. She will also ask you to get a Mandrake and use it on multiple enemies at the same time. Both of these items can be purchased from Dogweed and Deathcap in the north part of Hogsmeade. The Venomous Tenatcula costs 600 gold and the Mandrake costs 500. After collecting the items, head out to the world map and use the items to satisfy the task condition. You’ll then need to attend Herbology Class in the Library Annex during the day. After the class, speak with Professor Garlick to learn Wingardium Leviosa.
Assignment 2
The second assignment will unlock shortly after completing the first one as time passes. Professor Garlick will give you the task of growing and harvesting Fluxweed. You’ll also need to acquire a Mandrake, Chinese Chomping Cabbage and Venomous Tentacula then use them all three simultaneously. You can buy the seeds for the Fluxweed from The Magic Neep. You’ll also need to buy a Table with a Large Pot from Tomes and Scrolls. Both shops can be found in Hogsmeade. Next head to the Room of Requirement and conjure the table then interact with it and plant the Fluxweed seeds. It will take 15 minutes for the seeds to grow. Then you can harvest the plant to satisfy the first task. For the second buy all three items from Dogweed and Deathcap. You can then use all three items simultaneously (without any enemies) to satisfy the second task. With both tasks complete, return to the professor and speak with her in one of the greenhouses to learn Flipendo.

Hogwarts Legacy Lifeless Paintings Guide
It's important to remember the ongoing controversial statements by the creator of the Harry Potter franchise. CBR supports the hard work of industry professionals on properties fans know and love, and the wider world of Harry Potter that fans have adopted as their own. You can find CBR's continuing coverage on J.K. Rowling here .
Of all the riddles in Avalanche Software's new title, Hogwarts Legacy , none is more mysterious than its lifeless paintings. These paintings begin as nothing more than an empty frame, but with a little legwork, players can bring them back to life and reap valuable rewards for their efforts. These quirky puzzles are pretty easy to solve, but it takes some time to find them all. However, players will want to get them, so they can fully complete Hogwarts Legacy. For information on how to solve the lifeless painting puzzles in general, here's a helpful guide.
The quest to solve every lifeless painting in Hogwarts Legacy begins upon speaking to Lenora Everleigh in Central Hall shortly after the game's introduction. The quest, cleverly titled "Like a Moth to a Frame," tasks players with first solving one painting as a tutorial of sorts. Then players are free to solve the others they discover as they play through Hogwarts Legacy . As there is a multitude of paintings scattered around the world of Legacy , here is a guide on where to find all 20 of them, both in Hogwarts and Hogsmeade and the moths that are needed to bring them back to life — which are usually a bit challenging to spot.
Updated on May 2, 2024, by Andrea Sandoval: Hogwarts Legacy is full of interesting puzzles and secrets that make the outstanding school feel magical and real. The lifeless paintings can be a bit challenging to find, but it's also fun to uncover the clever Easter eggs around the complex and majestic halls of the castle. We updated this article to include more information about how to solve Hogwarts Legacy's mysterious paintings as well as include CBR's new formatting style.
How To Solve The Lifeless Paintings In Hogwarts Legacy
- Lumos is the very first spell players learn in Hogwarts Legacy. Professor Fig teaches it to them during the Path to Hogwarts quest, before the game officially begins.
Hogwarts Legacy: How to Solve All Hogwarts Secrets (& What It Gets You)
The lifeless paintings in Hogwarts Legacy are easier to solve than they are to find. Players will find the paintings throughout their adventures in several places around the school and Hogsmeade . The easiest way to get to them is using the spell Revelio, which highlights any puzzle or interactive element around the game with a blue halo. The paintings are recognizable for their particular oval-shaped form. Once players stumble upon one of them, they need to use the spell Lumos in front of the painting. This will reveal an image with the location of the moth that belongs to the painting.
Usually, the location is near the painting, but some moths are farther away than others, meaning players will have to do a bit of exploring. Revelio also works for finding the moths, but since they're small objects, players need to be close to them for it to work. What's more, they are not very perceptible, so players also have to pay a lot of attention to their surroundings. Once players find the moth, they simply have to use the spell Lumos. The moth will follow the player from then on, as long as they keep the spell activated. When players reach the lifeless painting with the moth, they just have to deactivate Lumos or use a basic attack. The moth will fly directly into the painting. The puzzle will permanently disappear and players will earn a field guide page.
Where To Find Every Lifeless Painting In Hogwarts
- To learn Level 1 Alohomora, players will have to talk to Gladwin Moon to initiate the "The Caretakes Lunar Lament" quest and retrieve the Demiguise Statues.
- To learn the Depulso spell, players have to complete Jackdaw's Rest quest, after which they have to complete Professor Sharp's first assignment, which will teach them the Depulso spell.
Hogwarts Legacy's Most Useful Spell (& How to Unlock It)
There are 15 lifeless paintings to find in Hogwarts, with only a few of them requiring the use of a Level 1 Alohomora spell to unlock the doors they lie behind. One painting does require the Depulso spell, however, so make sure you unlock it before attempting to locate every painting. Also, Revelio is extremely helpful in finding them, as it highlights their exact locations. Here are all 15 of Hogwarts' lifeless paintings, where to find them, and where to find their moths.
Where To Find Every Lifeless Painting In Hogsmeade
Hogwarts legacy: 10 best puzzles.
While there are 15 paintings you can find in Hogwarts, there are only five in Hogsmeade. Fortunately, though, these are all the lifeless paintings in the game. Players don't have to worry about finding other painting puzzles in the Highlands or any other location. These don't require any special spells, but Revelio is helpful in highlighting their locations, as always. Here are all five of Hogsmeade's lifeless paintings, where to find them, and where to find their moths as well.
