Celebrating the 123rd philippine independence day: what independence means to filipinos.

independence day essay tagalog 200 words

JUNE 12 marks the day the Philippines gained independence from Spain after being under its colonial rule for four centuries.

On this day every year, Filipinos — in the Philippines and beyond — commemorate and celebrate the country’s hard-won freedom.

However, there was a time when Filipinos observed “Araw ng Kasarinlan” or “Araw ng Kalayaan” on July 4, which is the same day as American Independence Day.

A refresher on Philippine history shows that the country found itself under another rule less than a year after declaring its independence. The Philippines was given to the United States by Spain as part of the 1898 Treaty of Paris Agreement when it lost the war against the U.S.

The refusal to acknowledge the Philippines’ declaration of independence pushed Filipinos to revolt against the U.S., triggering the Philippine-American War that went on from 1899 to 1902.

But it was only on July 4, 1946 that the Philippines gained sovereignty through the Treaty of Manila. This prompted Filipinos to celebrate the country’s independence on that date, which continued annually for 15 years until Philippine President Diosdado Macapagal officially changed the date back to June 12.

“It is proper that what we should celebrate is not the day when other nations gave recognition to our independence, but the day when we declared our desire to exercise our inherent and inalienable right to freedom and independence,” Macapagal said in a 1962 public address on Independence Day.

independence day essay tagalog 200 words

June 12, 1898 is the “true birthday of an independent Filipino nation” for its resolve to declare itself “absolved of allegiance to the Spanish crown,” the president added.

This year, the Philippines will mark its 123rd year of independence from Spanish rule with the theme “Kalayaan 2021: Diwa sa Pagkakaisa at Paghilom ng Bayan (Spirit of Freedom for National Unity and Healing).”

The National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP), which leads the nationwide Independence Day celebration, will mark the holiday by conducting flag-raising and wreath-laying rites at various locations including the Rizal National Monument in Rizal Park, Manila; Bonifacio National Monument, Caloocan City; Barasoain Church Historical Landmark, Malolos, Bulacan; and Aguinaldo Shrine in Kawit, Cavite.

In the United States, Filipino American communities and organizations — from Los Angeles to New York, and everywhere in between — observe the holiday through festivals, parades, performances and flag-raising ceremonies. As the country begins to slowly reopen, events this year will continue to be virtual or offer a hybrid approach with social distancing and capacity limits in place.

independence day essay tagalog 200 words

Meaning As the years go by and the country continues to observe the holiday, the meaning and significance of the Philippine Independence Day have changed for Filipinos.

Lourdes Capule, an online teacher from Bulacan, said that this celebration is for Filipino heroes.

“To me, the Philippine Independence Day is a strong reminder of everything our heroes selflessly dedicated so we could be free. It is also a good time to reflect on the values they imparted and how we can inculcate them in our lives,” she said.

“Even though we have National Heroes Day, I can’t help but to think of them on Independence Day,” she added.

Capule noted that the country’s liberty was the Filipino heroes’ “ultimate goal,” reminding her of “how they valiantly fought” to set the Philippines free and give Filipinos their own identity.

“Even when faced with foes they seemed no match to, they never lost heart. What they lacked in, they made up for with wit and grit,” she said.

“They are who we should aspire to be: bold, brilliant, unyielding, and loyal to their country and not to the powers that be. We must forever be grateful for their sacrifices. These exceptional ancestors of ours give meaning to this special day,” she added.

John Almerc Dy, a BPO specialist from Marikina City mirrored this sentiment, saying “Ang araw ng kalayaan ay isang espesyal na araw upang ipaalala sa bawat Pilipino na maraming bayani ang nagbuwis ng buhay makamit lamang ang kasarinlan ng Pilipinas ( The Independence Day is a special day to remind every Filipino that a lot of heroes sacrificed their lives to achieve the Philippines’ independence ).”

“Kaya naman, dapat nating mahalin ang ating bansa at ipagtanggol kung sakali mang dumating ang pagkakataon na may dayuhan na muling magtatangka na agawin ulit ito sa atin ( That’s why, we should love our country and defend it in the event that foreigners try to take [our freedom] away again ),” he added.

Meanwhile, Fatima Abdukahil, who works in Taguig City, saw the country’s Independence Day as the “declaration of new ideas.”

“I think we all know that June 12 is the declaration of the Philippine Independence from Spain, and that was way back in 1898. But with the new era and new generations, what is really great about the Philippine Independence is also the declaration of new ideas,” she noted.

“Of course, there is a lot to tackle about the conquest of Spain, Americans, Japanese, and even from the dictatorships of former Philippine leaders. But with the new era, we are also embracing the changes. We are now in an era where we can choose whoever we want, and what we want to do. This is a declaration of free minds and Independence,” she added.

However, Abdukahil pointed out the need for accountability from Filipinos as we enjoy our independence and freedom.

“For every freedom and Independence that we are gaining, there is always a responsibility and accountability that we need to look out for. That is why we have the constitution, the law, and ethics to be looked out for,” she said.

Likewise, Lairamel Tolang, an editor from Pasay City, said that the Philippine Independence Day is a reminder for Filipinos to “take a closer look at the status quo.”

“[Independence Day] is a remembrance of how our country was freed from colonizers that once took control of our land and heavily influenced a big part of our culture,” she said.

Tolang stressed, “It is also a constant reminder to take a closer look at the status quo, reassess the ‘independence’ that we have now, and come up and share attainable solutions on how we could experience a more extensive independence and freedom from the people and system that overpower us.”

While the holiday is for celebrating the country’s hard-won freedom, Airamae Guerrero, who works for a start-up company in Pasay, noted that the Philippines’ current situation has made it difficult to do so.

“It’s hard to see the silver lining of freedom at this moment when innocent lives are being taken away, Filipinos are losing jobs, small businesses are shutting down, and I can hardly see concrete actions from the administration to defend its people from COVID and its socio-economic effect,” she said.

“This pandemic has shown that freedom is only being enjoyed by a few — the powerful and born with privilege,” added Guerrero.

On the other hand, Pasig City-based Patricia Benito outright questioned if Filipinos still have their freedom today.

“To be honest at this point, sa situation ng bansa natin, may totoong independence pa ba? Kasi kahit, oo given na independent tayo, pero kung araw-araw parang sinasakal ka lang ng gobyerno — slowly but surely — may halaga pa ba yung independence ( To be honest at this point, with our country’s situation, do we still have true independence? Even though we are independent, if our government seems to be stifling us — slowly but surely — does independence still have significance )?” she said.

Benito was referring to the controversial Anti-Terrorism Act of 2020 (ATA) that took effect last year on July 18 in the country.

Under the anti-terror law — which expands on the Human Security Act of 2007 — incitement of terrorism can be done “by means of speeches, proclamations, writings, emblems, banners or other representations…without taking any direct part in the commission of terrorism.”

Those arrested and detained may be held for 14 to 24 days.

The law also enables the suspected “terrorist” to also be placed under surveillance for 60 days, extendable by up to 30 more days, by the police or the military.

“Siguro kung sa mababaw na interpretation, nasasabi ko freely yung gusto kong sabihin online or with my friends, pero kahit yung simpleng posts online honestly natatakot din ako na baka ma-red tag din ako dahil lang sa isang post ( Maybe in shallower interpretations, I can freely say what I want online or with my friends, but even the simple posts online, honestly I’m scared of being red-tagged too just because of a single post ),” Benito explained.

Meanwhile, Jomaica Lizardo, a BPO specialist in Quezon City, claimed that true independence means Filipinos being able to think critically for the country.

“I think the true Philippine independence would be pag nakakawala na tayo sa kulay and mas mag-isip na ng malawak para sa ikakabuti ng Pilipinas ( when we have gotten rid of our prejudices and we can broaden our way of thinking for the betterment of the Philippines ),” she said.

She also urged everyone to remember and emulate the bravery displayed by Filipino heroes who fought for the Philippines’ freedom as the country celebrates its Independence Day.

“Huwag natin sabihin na hayaan na lang yung mga dayuhan na sumasakop ng isla natin just because takot tayo sa giyera ( We shouldn’t say that we should just allow foreigners to take over our islands just because we’re scared of war ),” Lizardo said.

August 15, 1947 , was the date when India gained its independence. After a battle, we managed to free ourselves from the British Raj. The first time the national flag was flown at the Red Fort was on this day at midnight by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, our first prime minister. It signalled the end of the 200-year British occupation of India. We currently live in a country that is free and autonomous.

India has been under British rule for almost 200 years. Every Indian's existence during British colonialism was miserable and filled with hardship. Indians had little freedom of speech and were treated like slaves. Indian leaders were merely British commanders' puppets. Farmers were starving because they couldn't grow crops and had to pay high land fees, while Indian fighters were oppressed in British camps.

Women's Contribution

As you read on, you will not only learn Tagalog but also realize just how easy it is to write essays in Tagalog. After this, your Tagalog writing and overall communication skills should improve a lot!

How To Write An Essay In Tagalog

If you want to know how to write a good essay ( sanaysay in Filipino), definitely remember that less is more! By writing less, you’re conveying to your reader that you’re organized and an expert on what you’re talking about. To learn more helpful tips, make sure to keep reading!

1. Do Your Research

Doing proper research ( pananaliksik ) before getting started is essential when it comes to the writing process. After all, how will you be able to write about a topic if you don’t know anything about it? When you’re conducting research, make sure to also fact-check and gather data from multiple sources. That way, your article has more authority.

Doing more research will also ensure that you know about a certain topic in-depth and can even lead to you gaining a new perspective along the way.

2. Draft Your Essay

After completing your research and answering the questions you have in your mind, you can now proceed to drafting ( pagbabalangkas ) your essay . This process is so important because it gives you time to organize your thoughts and ideas into a concise structure. If you skip this step, your essay is sure to come out disorganized, with different topics all jumbled up in each other.

Make sure that during this step, you outline your essay thoroughly. This will make the process of writing the actual essay go much smoother because you won’t have to go back and research information or search for notes. Keep all your notes in the same place when you’re writing an essay!

3. Start Writing

After conducting research ( pananaliksik ) and drafting your essay ( pagbabalangkas ), it’s time to start writing! Remember that when you write an essay, you should divide it into three parts: introduction, body, and conclusion.

The Introduction Of The Essay

The introduction ( panimula ) is where you will answer basic questions and tell your readers what the essay is going to be about. Make sure that you hook your readers in your introduction. Otherwise, they won’t keep reading.

The Body Of The Essay

Next is the body ( katawan ) of the essay. This is where you’ll talk in-depth about the topic. Make sure to include any research you did in this section and your analysis of the research. You can also include your opinion in this section if the topic permits.

The Conclusion Of The Essay

The last part of an essay is known as the conclusion ( konklusyon or wakas ) . This is where you can wrap up any major ideas in your essay. If you’re really good, you should be able to tie your conclusion somehow back to the introduction! It’s important to keep your conclusion insightful and avoid completely summarizing the essay. Readers want to feel enlightened after they finish reading an essay, not be given an entire synopsis!

4. Edit Your Work

Your essay isn’t finished until you’ve gone back and edited it. If time permits, we recommend sleeping on your essay and then coming back to it the following day.

Looking at an essay with a fresh set of eyes will allow you to notice errors that you might have missed if you had edited it on the same day you wrote it. The two main things to check for when it comes to editing are overall clarity and grammatical mistakes. Both of these can distract your reader from the actual content of the essay if you’re not careful.

Common Pitfalls In Writing Essays In Tagalog

While learning how to write an essay in Tagalog , it’s just as important to know what to avoid as it is to know what to do. Here are some common pitfalls you should watch out for:

  • Overuse of Direct Translations : One of the most common mistakes is directly translating phrases or idioms from English to Tagalog. This can lead to awkward phrasing or even change the meaning entirely. As we know, languages have their unique expressions, so try to think in Tagalog rather than translating from English.
  • Ignoring Formal and Informal Tones : Tagalog, like many languages, has formal and informal tones. Be mindful of the tone you’re using in your essay. Academic and formal essays usually require a more formal tone, so avoid using colloquial or Tagalog slang terms .
  • Neglecting the Flow of Sentences : The flow and structure of sentences in Tagalog can be quite different from English. Pay attention to sentence construction to ensure your essay reads naturally. Long, convoluted sentences can confuse readers, so aim for clarity and conciseness.
  • Inconsistent Use of Tenses : Tagalog verbs can be tricky, especially with their various aspects (completed, ongoing, and contemplated). Make sure to keep your verb tenses consistent throughout your essay to maintain clarity and coherence.
  • Overlooking Local Context and Nuances : Tagalog has rich local contexts and nuances. Make sure to incorporate these appropriately in your writing. Understanding and using regional expressions or phrases can add authenticity to your essay, but be careful not to misuse them.
  • Insufficient Proofreading : Finally, don’t underestimate the importance of proofreading. Spelling and grammatical errors can significantly undermine the credibility of your essay. If possible, have a native speaker review your work to catch errors you might have missed.

By avoiding these common pitfalls, your journey to mastering essay writing in Tagalog will be smoother and more successful. Keep practicing, and don’t hesitate to seek feedback from native speakers or language-learning communities! Good luck on your Tagalog essay writing journey!

Essay on Independence Day in English 300 Words

Introduction.

India’s people commemorate Independence Day every year as the day they finally escaped from the oppression of the British Empire. As the nation attained independence on August 15, 1947, it is observed on that day.

An observation before Independence

Even though India declared its independence on August 15, 1947, few of us are aware that politicians and citizens of India also celebrated Independence Day prior to the country’s formal declaration of independence. At the Indian National Congress meeting in Lahore in 1929, the demand for Purna Swaraj, or complete independence, was the catalyst for everything. The session’s projection for Independence Day was the signing of “The Declaration of the Independence of India” on January 26, 1930.

Events across the Nation

Independence Day is observed by the entire nation as a national holiday and with unmatched fervor and devotion. Indians adore their nation and hold the nation’s independence fighters in the highest regard. The Tricolour, the national flag of India, is flown over all governmental and non-governmental institutions as well as in public spaces like markets. Unless it violates the Flag Code of India, there are no restrictions on flag display. There are school kids marching to the sound of the national anthem being played by a band. At district offices and police grounds, parades by police and paramilitary personnel are also held.

In their respective offices in the state capitals, the Chief Minister and the Governor hoist the National flag. Delhi, the country’s capital, serves as the focal point for the Independence Day festivities. The current prime minister of India accepts the guard of honour from the military after hoisting the flag from Red Fort. He continues by addressing the people of the country and outlining the policy and achievements of the administration.

India’s most important holiday is Independence Day. One of the very few holidays celebrated with joy and fervor by all Indian religious groups is this one. It is a day of great pride for the people of India.

Essay on Independence Day in English 800 Words

The United Kingdom’s parliament passed an act on the day that India gained legislative sovereignty, and that day is recognised as Independence Day in India. The British Parliament granted the Indian Constituent Assembly, which was established to draught the Indian Constitution, complete legislative authority through the Indian Independence Act, which was passed on August 15, 1947. It was the result of a protracted conflict in which the British Empire’s repressions were opposed using the principles of nonviolence and civil disobedience.

Background Information

The British occasionally visited India during the 17th century to express their interest in trading there. The wealth of the kingdoms and the diverse topography of the subcontinent astounded them. They gradually began gaining a foothold in the country by stepping up trade. Here, the “East India Company” came to the fore, which was intended to be a trading company reporting to its board of directors in London; however, East India Company, eyeing the endless wealth opportunities that the subcontinent offered, forcibly occupied powers of the government and judiciary. “Company Rule” refers to the period of Indian history from 1757 to 1858.

The East India Company’s rule in India continued unaltered until the rebellion of 1857, at which point the Government of India Act 1857 transferred power to Queen Victoria. This Act recognised the British Crown as India’s supreme ruler. Political parties and civil societies in India gradually grew stronger in the ensuing decades, calling for self-rule or Swaraj. After a protracted conflict marked by non-cooperation and non-violence, India finally attained independence on August 15, 1947.

The importance of Independence Day

After nearly 200 years of being ruled by the East India company and then the British Crown, the country finally achieved independence. At the hands of the British, it was a time of unethical repression and massive resource exploitation. Kingdoms were forcibly taken over, kings were deposed and punished for no discernible reason, and farmers and small business owners were made vulnerable by the implementation of new tax laws. Every moment the country spent under the Crown had been painful for everyone. Thus, when independence was finally won on August 15, 1947, it was a significant accomplishment and cause for celebration. The significance of the day is determined by the sacrifices made by our countrymen in the fight for independence, as well as by other freedom fighters. The freedom struggle claimed the lives of millions of Indians. The holiday serves as a reminder to honour those who gave their all so that we could live in freedom.

Celebrations of the Independence Day

India observes the day of its independence as a national holiday. People from various religions, castes, and cultures come together to celebrate the day with feelings of nationalism and patriotism. The spirit of the holiday season was evident everywhere in the country, including in homes, offices, schools, and colleges. The national anthem and patriotic music are audible everywhere. On this day, it’s common to see tricolours flapping in all different sizes and shapes.

Celebration at New Delhi

The biggest Independence Day celebrations take place in Delhi, the nation’s capital. The Indian Prime Minister addresses the country via television the evening before Independence Day, wishing the populace well and honouring the freedom fighters. The following day, a large crowd gathered at the Red Fort to see the Prime Minister raise the flag. The national flag is being honoured, and thousands of people from all over the country are there to see what happens next, along with a number of dignitaries. The singing of the national anthem and a 21-gun salute in honour of the prime minister occur simultaneously after raising the flag. The Prime Minister addresses the nation again after the firing of the guns in remembrance of the freedom fighters and their struggles.

Celebrations at Work and in Schools

India celebrates Independence Day with nearly equal fervour and enthusiasm in all of its schools, colleges, and workplaces. Children are more prominently involved in the festivities, and they appear to be at the centre of all the planning. The institution’s leader hoists the national flag in front of the students and other staff members to kick off the festivities. Children themselves organise a variety of competitions, cultural events, and plays in their schools as a reminder of India’s freedom struggle and to honour the great freedom fighters. Children dress up as different freedom fighters and shout well-known Indian independence movement anthems like “Inquilab Zindabad,” “Jai Hind,” and “Vande Matram,” among others. To commemorate the occasion, the school gives out treats to the staff and students.

India’s Independence Day is a national holiday that is widely observed with a sense of nationalism and patriotism. The nation is filled with festive fervour and pride in its diversity and unification. The sound of drums beating and the singing of the national anthem instills a strong sense of nationalism in the heart. Although it is primarily a celebration of Independence, India is also being praised for its “unity in diversity” during this time. To ensure that you can celebrate fearlessly and without any obstacles, the government has also proclaimed August 15 as a national holiday.

Fourth of July (America Independence Day) Research Paper

Introduction.

The fourth of July celebrates American values such as political freedom. It captures the history and events that facilitated the independence of the American nation. Furthermore, it allows people to support the heritage of the land.

The history of the 4 th of July can be traced back to that same date in 1776. It was the day when Congress adopted the Declaration of Independence. This piece of paper had been formally declared 2 days ago on the 2 nd of July.

Congress had selected a committee in Pennsylvania that would be responsible for creating a document that would tell Britain that the American colonists wanted to rule themselves. After the committee has discussed all the issues they wanted to include the document, they selected Thomas Jefferson to put together those ideas in a draft copy.

Jefferson did this in a number of days and presented the first copy to the committee on the 28 th of June. On the 2 nd of July, they revised the document and declared America’s independence. The official adoption of the Declaration was on the 4 th of July (Burnett, 1941).

It was one month later that all other Congressmen started signing the Declaration of independence. Therefore, the people involved in this document wanted to provide Americans with something that the American citizenry could aspire to; it was something that captured the ideas and goals in their land.

John Adams knew how momentous this event would be to the American people hence his pronouncement that people would celebrate the day with games, guns, bells and parades. His prediction was true, but his date estimation was slightly wrong since he thought that the celebration would be on 2 nd of July and not on the 4 th of July.

The first formal 4 th of July celebration was in 1777 in Philadelphia. This state already had a series of tools that would later be used to remember the event. A number of speeches were made, music and parades were instated. It even had a gun salute to commemorate the day. Residents painted ships with colors of the flag and enjoyed fireworks displays.

Before 1791, the day was simply known as the Fourth of July. However, on this year, it was called Independence Day. In order to involve everyone else in the celebrations, Congress decided to make the day a paid holiday for state employees in 1870. Thereafter, it was decided that the day would be a paid holiday in 1938.

Other events have often coincided with the 4 th of July date and have been celebrated on the same day. For instance, New York state declared the 4 th of July as emancipation day because this was the same day that they voted to end slavery in 1827.

How, who and why people celebrate the holiday

A number of people will watch baseball games for Independence Day. Major League baseball games are often scheduled on this day, and thus encourage a lot of participation. In those matches, many of them will buy hotdogs to enjoy during the game. They will also purchase ice cream for fun during the event.

The eating of hotdogs began in 1916 during a hotdog eating contest. Four New York immigrants wanted to prove to each other that they were the most patriotic so they participated in a hot dog eating contests. Hot dog eating competitions have become a common occurrence in that part of the country ever since.

Alternatively, people can gather together to watch fireworks displays. Certain cities or states are known for the consistency and enormity of their celebration. For instance, New York has a televised fireworks display that started in 1976 and continues to date. In Detroit, a fireworks display is held on the 4 th of July in order to remember Independence Day as well as honor Canada day.

One of the most common ways to celebrate that event is to visit Coney Island Beach or listen to bands playing “The stars and stripes”. This tradition of celebrating the day began in 1897 when John Sousa and his band were performing in Coney Island.

Tourists who had come to the beach were the first to hear this theme song and paved the way for other bands who played the same song ever since. Many people visit this beach in order to remember that event. However, these trips often occur during long holidays, that is, when the 4 th of July comes immediately after the weekend or just before it (Heintze, 2007).

Band playing and parades are quite common in various parts of the country. One well known display is Bristol’s parade that started as far back as 1785. In fact historians assert that this is one of the most longstanding celebrations of the event. Most parades will occur earlier on in the mornings while fireworks displays will be done later in the evening so as to contrast them with the darkness of the environment.

Some families may choose to participate in private commemorations of the event. In this regard, many of them may take their family members for picnics or may invite their friends for barbecues.

Others may visit their distant relative in other towns or states. During those visits, homes will be decorated with the balloons and streamers in red, blue, and white. A number of them will also place the American flag in the middle of their homes. During such occasions, people will sing well-recognized American songs such as “God Bless America” or “This land is our land”.

What makes the holiday so special

The holiday is so important to Americans because it allows citizens to think about the meaning of the fourth of July. This is the reason why many will visit museums or parades.

They will try their best to do something patriotic in order to capture the spirit of this day. As such they get to appreciate the difficulties that the founding fathers had to go through in order to secure independence for the country. At the time, the Declaration was a crime by Great Britain. Many of these founding fathers were risking their lives by choosing such a path.

However, it was something that had to take place because the British colonialists continued to exert more control over the American states. They imposed greater taxes and instated more rules over the American settlers. Therefore, the latter group could not exercise its own freedom or practice its own values. Everything was determined by the Kingdom of Great Britain. It took a great act of courage to oppose this status quo and curve the country’s own path.

Alternatively, this holiday is quite special because it epitomizes the civil liberties enjoyed in the country. People in the Unite States have the right to choose their religion and will not get persecuted for their choices. The US would not be what it is without freedom. Since people can decide what political side to support or what opinions to express, then one cannot dispute the degree of freedom inherent in the country.

These values would not have been a reality if the country had not fought for them from the British Colonies. The founding fathers chose the path that would be followed by subsequent leaders when they established the country as an independent state. They had the courage to stand for what they felt was right, and this should be celebrated by subsequent generations in the country.

Symbols used in the Fourth of July

The US flag is one of the most symbolic items on the Fourth of July because the country formally became an independent nation. The flag possesses fifty stars and thirteen stripes, which represent all the 13 colonies that later became independent states (50 in number). It has the color red which stands for courage; white represents purity while blue represents justice. These values could not be realized if the country was not independent from the British colonialists.

The activities of the 4 th of July were the ones that caused the country to enjoy these founding principles. People will place flags in their homes, cars and in public areas in order to show their appreciation of the independence that the country enjoyed after the 13 colonies ended their association with Great Britain (Maier, 1997).

Alternatively, some individuals think of the Liberty Bell as an important symbol of the freedom and independence that the country enjoyed thanks to the 4 th of July. The Liberty Bell rang for the first time on the 8 th of July 1776 when the Philadelphians wanted to read the Declaration for the first time. The item has since been commemorated in Philadelphia by establishment of a special center for the same device.

Similarly, the Statue of Liberty is regarded as a forth of July symbol because it fosters the spirit of the Independence Day. The statue stands for freedom and liberty, which were values that were brought out on the 4 th of July 1776. Additionally, the great seal has been regarded as another Fourth of July symbol. It is a national emblem that can be found on documents, money, passports and flags. All the colors on the great seal are derived from the US fags.

The seal also has the bald eagle, 13 stripes, olives, arrows and leaves. The motto of the seal is “from many… one”. This denotes that although many Americans came from different locations, they became one when they lived in the country. The seal is especially insightful because it uses a series of colors, tools and mini-symbols to demonstrate American values.

Comparison of celebrations in the US

In Washington, most people celebrate Independence Day through the Capitol Fourth event. Here, a musical concert will take place as will fireworks.

In fact one can observe fireworks displays in various parts of the state such as Riverfront Park. Yakima state park, Gesa stadium, Pioneer park, Legion memorial, Gas works park and many more. Other events in Washington include parading, picnicking and activities for children. Therefore the celebrations in this state are affected by the government’s presence. In the state of Rhode Island, one is likely to find a military flavor in these celebrations.
