Participation in TRENDS International Education Conference

The Chair of the Research Outreach Department, Dr. Noura Alkarbi, Participated in the TRENDS International Education Conference under the theme "Education and Identity in the DigitaIAge: Proposed Strategies for Preserving Identity and Shaping Youth Behaviors". The conference included international leaders and experts in the field of education. Dr. Alkarbi delivered a presentation on her research paper titled “Applied Scientific Research Strategy in Shaping the Future of Education: National Priorities and Government Response”. Dr. Alkarbi highlighted that "this conference addresses a very important issue in society in general, as it addresses the future and reality of education in the digital age, which is one of the most prominent indicators of global progress and competitiveness. Education is the only way to maintain the momentum necessary to provide human cadres that seek to achieve people's ambitions and future aspirations. Therefore, it is necessary to support researchers and direct them towards applied scientific research to shape the future of education."

شهد معالي الشيخ نهيان بن مبارك آل نهيان، وزير التسامح والتعايش، رئيس مجلس إدارة صندوق الوطن، أمس، توقيع 4 مذكرات تفاهم مع مؤسسات وطنية، شملت «وزارة الثقافة والشباب، ومجلس الإمارات للتنمية المتوازنة، وأكاديمية الإمارات للهوية والجنسية، وجامعة الشارقة»، بحضور خوزيه راموس هورتا، رئيس جمهورية تيمور الشرقية الديمقراطية. وتركز المذكرات الأربع على تعزيز التعاون بين صندوق الوطن وكل المؤسسات الموقعة، لتحقيق الأهداف المشتركة في رعاية ودعم أبناء وبنات الإمارات وتمكينهم في مجال ريادة الأعمال وتعزيز قيم الابتكار والإبداع لديهم، بما في ذلك قيم الهوية الوطنية، حيث اتفق الشركاء على بذل كل جهد من أجل حاضر ومستقبل شباب الإمارات.

بهدف تعزيز التعاون بين في مجالات البحث العلمي والدراسات الاستراتيجية، وقعت جامعة الشارقة مذكرة تفاهم مع مركز تريندز للبحوث والاستشارات، وقعها عن الجامعة مديرها سعادة الأستاذ الدكتور حميد مجول النعيمي، والدكتور محمد عبد الله العلي الرئيس التنفيذي للمركز. وبموجب هذه الاتفاقية، سيعمل الطرفان على التعاون في مجالات البحث العلمي والدراسات الاستراتيجية، بما في ذلك إجراء البحوث المشتركة في المجالات الاجتماعية والسياسية والاقتصادية والاستشرافية والميدانية، بالإضافة إلى التعاون في تبادل الخبراء والباحثين للاستفادة من خبراتهم، وتنظيم الفعاليات العلمية والبحثية المشتركة، مثل الندوات والحلقات النقاشية والجلسات الحوارية وورش العمل والمحاضرات، إضافة الى تبادل الإصدارات العلمية.

شاركت الدكتورة نورة الكربي رئيس العلاقات المجتمعية للبحث العلمي بمكتب نائب مدير الجامعة لشؤون البحث العلمي والدراسات العليا، ورئيس مجموعة الدراسات الخليجية بمهعد البحوث للعلوم الإنسانية والاجتماعية، في ورشة افتراضية نظمتها وزارة الاقتصاد بالتعاون مع الأمانة العامة لمجلس التعاون لدول الخليج بعنوان الأبعاد الاقتصادية للتغير المناخي في مجلس التعاون الخليجي حيث عقدت بحضور عبدالله آل صالح وكيل وزارة الاقتصاد، و علي بن غدير، مدير إدارة التجارة والاقتصاد المعرفي بالأمانة العامة لمجلس التعاون الخليجي. كما شارك في الورشة عدة جهات بدول الخليج بلدية دبي والتنمية الاقتصادية بالشارقة، وجامعة بوظبي ، وهيئة البيئة ببوظبي، وجامعة السلطان قابوس، والبنك المركزي العماني، وغرفة بوظبي، ومركز الامارات للدراسات والبحوث الاستراتيجية، ودائرة التنمية الاقتصادية ببوظبي، وتريندز للبحوث، وكليات التقنية العليا، ودائرة التنميى الاقتصادية بعجمان، وجهاز التخطيط والإحصاء بدولة قطر. وتناولت الجلسة عدة محاور حول الأبعاد الاقتصادية للتغير المناخي وذلك من حيث تجارب دول مجلس التعاون الخليجي وأفضل الممارسات العالمية والآفاق المستقبلية الفرص والتحديات .

The Sharjah Astronomical Observatory Monitors an Exoplanet Similar to Jupiter

January 2021 The Sharjah Astronomical Observatory at the Sharjah Academy for Astronomy, Space Sciences and Technology (SAASST) of the University of Sharjah monitored and analyzed the exoplanet (HAT-P-9b) during the month of January. This as part of its periodic observations of the exoplanets that began in 2018. The results of these observations are published periodically on global websites specialized in this field of astronomical research. Researcher Mohammed Fadil Talafha, an astronomer who specializes in observing the exoplanets, added that the observed exoplanet is similar to Jupiter. It has a mass of 78% of the mass of Jupiter, but it is on the other hand larger, equivalent to 140% of the size of Jupiter, and this means that it is less dense. Due to its size being close to the size of Jupiter, it is included in the series of exoplanets called Hot Jupiters, as it is very close to its host star. Despite its large size compared to the planets of our solar system, which is characterized by the distance between its planets and from the Sun as well, this planet is very close to its sun – the distance between it and its star does not exceed 8 million kilometers. If we compare it to Earth, whose distance from the Sun reaches 150 million kilometers, then it is considered very close to the host star. The temperature of this type of exoplanets reaches one thousand kelvin, hence the name Hot Jupiters. This planet orbits its star very quickly, as it ends its year in less than four days.
