AIMS & OBJECTIVES In the field of postgraduate and post-doctoral education, the most important function of the Institute is to provide opportunities to train teachers for medical colleges in the country in an atmosphere of research and development. Postgraduate and Post-doctoral students are exposed to newer methods of teaching and given opportunities to actively participate in teaching exercises. The other important objectives of the Institute are to bring together in one place educational facilities of the highest order for the training of personnel in all the important branches of health activity and to attain self-sufficiency in postgraduate medical education. The educational principles and practices being adopted are best suited to the needs of the nation.

Seats available to all candidates. These seats have Funds Available in the Project (FA) : 60 Seat available only to candidates who have their Own Government Fellowship (OF): 61 Total (FA + OF) : 121

Note • All seats in a department will be clubbed. • Candidates will be eligible ONLY for seats in the department that they have applied for. • Candidates will be allocated seats in order of their merit in the exam. • Candidates WITH their Own Government Fellowship (OF) can select from both OF and Fellowship Available (FA) seats (where they fulfil the eligibility criteria for the seat) • Candidates WITHOUT their Own Government Fellowship can select only Fellowship Available (FA) seats (where they fulfil the eligibility criteria for the seat) 24 Ph.D. Prospectus for July, 2023 session • Successful candidates will be subjected to eligibility criteria of respective Project before admission. • Candidates who are allotted a seat but do not join or resign after joining will not be eligible for any additional rounds of seat allocation.

GENERAL ELIGIBILITY Eligibility for Ph. D course (Open candidates) A candidate seeking admission to the course of study leading to the award of a Degree of Doctor of Philosophy must possess at least one of the following qualifications : A. a). Medical qualification: MBBS/BDS with minimum 55% aggregate marks or MD/MS/MDS/DM/M.Ch. in the subject concerned or Diplomat of National Board of Examination. Candidates who have obtained any of these degrees from medical colleges which are not recognized by the Medical Council of India shall not be eligible to apply. b). Nursing Qualification: Candidates holding M.Sc. degree with minimum 55% aggregate marks in Nursing Speciality will also be eligible for Ph. D admission in College of Nursing. B. Non-Medical – For non-medical candidate’s eligibility shall be Master’s Degree (two year’s course) awarded by Indian Universities or equivalent in the subject as per requirement of the project. Candidates holding M.Sc. (Other than M.Sc. Nursing) M.Tech. degree, BAMS & BHMS will be eligible for the Non-Medical Qualification Category. Candidate having eligibility under non-medical category should have at least 60% marks in the last eligibility examination qualified. Candidate possessing Master’s Degree through distant learning course shall not be eligible. (a) Special weightage for non-medical candidates: (i) Candidates who have qualified the below listed National Entrance Tests leading to the award of a fellowship will be given special weightage in the entrance examination as detailed in method of selection part of guidelines. Such candidates should apply under the Own Fellowship (OF) category and upload proof of award of the qualifying fellowship in the online form. • Joint CSIR-UGC NET for JRF • ICMR – JRF • ICMR- SRF • DBT – JRF • NBHM screening test • INSPIRE fellowship (ii) To be eligible for special weightage marks, ALL the following criteria must be fulfilled: 1. The result of the above listed National Entrance Tests must have been declared between July 2021 and last date of application i.e. 16.08.2023. 2. The award of the fellowship must be based on the result of the above listed National Entrance Tests. 3. The fellowships should be tenable at AIIMS, New Delhi.

Duration of the Course 1. The duration of the course shall be the time period from registration to submission of thesis. The minimum period of registration in respect of all the candidates who are registered for Ph.D. shall be three years. The maximum period of registration shall not exceed five years. Extension beyond the period of 5 years can be given for a maximum period of 6 months on the recommendation of Dean Committee and final approval by Dean/Director. 2. Further extension beyond 5 years & 6 months can only be given by the Academic Committee for a maximum period of 6 months in highly exceptional circumstances (like medical exigencies, natural calamities etc.) and such extension may not be given retrospectively. 3. The Chief guide of Ph.D. Student shall give clear reason for the delay to the Academic Committee and must present the case before Academic Committee. 4. In case of extension beyond 6 years without justifiable reasons and circumstances as mentioned above, the Ph.D. registration of the candidate shall be cancelled. 5. Failure to submit thesis within stipulated time period of maximum 5yrs. with extension after approval upto 5½ years (6 years in exceptional circumstances by prior approval of Academic Committee) shall lead to cancellation of PhD registration of the candidate.

Any Amendment/Rectification/Change/Editing is NOT allowed in Name, Date of Birth and Community Department and PWBD status after payment of application fee through Debit/Credit Card/Net Banking and images once uploaded cannot be changed later. 3. AIIMS PhD Admission 2023 will be organised by All India Institutes of Medical Sciences to provide various medical courses. That includes courses like DM/M.Ch (3yrs.)/MD (Hospital Administration), Fellowship Program, PG (MD/MS/M.Ch (6 years) /DM(6 years)/MDS), M.B.B.S. ,B.Sc. Nursing (Post – Basic), M.Sc. Courses, B.Sc.(Hons.) Para-Medical Courses, M.Sc. Nursing. Among all such programs, the highest degree level program that the AIIMS offers is PhD. • The application process for AIIMS PhD 2023 has started.  The application form can be filled online on the AIIMS website. The last date to apply is July 19, 2023.
• The entrance exam for AIIMS PhD 2023 will be held on July 24, 2023.  The exam will be conducted in a CBT (computer-based test) mode.
• The results of the AIIMS PhD 2023 entrance exam will be announced on August 12, 2023.  The shortlisted candidates will be called for the interview round.
• The interview round for AIIMS PhD 2023 will be held in August 2023.  The final list of selected candidates will be announced in September 2023.

The application fee is indicated by the AIIMS, New Delhi in the official prospectus for all candidates. Below we have mentioned category-wise application fees:

AIIMS PhD Admission 2023 Eligibility Criteria

Aspirants for the PhD courses at AIIMS must possess the following qualifications.

• Medical Education qualification: MBBS/BDS with 50% min. or MD/MS/MDS/DM/MCh or Diplomate of NBE.
• Nursing Qualification- candidates holding M.Sc degree with 50% min. in Nursing speciality may also be able to apply.
• Non- medical candidates- candidates who are not from medical background must have attained a minimum of 60% in a valid 2 years Master degree.

Note: The Candidates who possess M.Sc/ M.tech. Degree & BAMS will be eligible for the Non-medical qualification category. Do make sure to check the eligibility before applying for an exam.

The desired qualification by AIIMS- a candidate from a non-medical background who clear the following qualifying examination will be prepared for research.

Method of Cut-Off

At least 50% in each stage of the written test (Stage I and II) to be eligible for Stage III. Special weightage (described in the prospectus) to be added after determining eligibility. Candidates 3 times the number of seats advertised will be called for Stage III (Department clinical/ practical/lab based assessment carrying 20 marks)

Method of resolving ties:  The tie case will be resolved according to age (Date of birth), the older candidate shall get preference over the younger one.

AIIMS PhD Admission 2023 Counselling

Qualifiers of the AIIMS PhD 2023 selection tests are offered admission to the PhD programs through counselling. Candidates are advised to refer to the official website regularly after the release of results for the latest updates regarding counselling for admissions.

• While counselling the selected aspirants need to carry their documents for verification purpose.
• Admission is conducted through counselling on the basis of merit only.
• Candidates are offered seats based on the preference of subject & availability of seats in the preferred subject.
• Seat allocation is also done on the basis of Fellowship Available / Own Fellowship categories.

Key Milestones of the PhD Program

Meeting these milestones on time constitutes adequate progress toward the PhD degree.

• Pass the MS final exam before the start of year 2.

Founded in 1906 in the city of Moscow, Pirogov Medical University—officially known as Russian National Research Medical University named after N. I. Pirogov— is one of the oldest medical universities in Russia.  The first lecture took place on September 26, 1906, with 206 students, and the first graduation ceremony was celebrated in 1912. The University claims to be the first university in Russia that started offering medical education to women in the Russian Federation.It independently carries out various research projects in medicine and has received the status of National Research University in 2010.The Library of Pirogov Medical University has a collection of more than 7,50,000 books. For world-class clinical training and diverse practical exposure, the University collaborates with more 120 hospitals across the city of Moscow. Pirogov Medical University started accepting international students in 1959. Presently, more than 8,000 students are studying medicine at the University, out of which about 700 are international students.  The University has a strong team of about 2,000 faculty members. Pirogov Medical University is approved by the Medical Council of India (MCI) and offers a 6-Year Program for MBBS in Russia. Students in India, who have qualified NEET, can apply for direct admission to the MBBS Program of Pirogov Medical University.

To get admission to the MBBS Program of Pirogov Medical University, the student must qualify NEET-UG (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test-Undergraduate).

Focused on constantly improving the quality of education, the University entered the list of Times Higher Education World University Rankings and QS World University Rankings in 2019. 

The University claims to be the first university in Russia that started offering medical education to women in the Russian Federation. Among all milestones achieved by the University, two most celebrated achievements are that Pirogov Medical University created the world’s first pediatric faculty in 1930 and the world’s first biomedical faculty in 1963.

To provide students and visitors a glimpse into the decades of the glorious history of the University, Museum of the History of Pirogov Medical University was established in 1981, which continues to capture astonishing achievements of the University, its students, and members.

The University maintains a leading position in Russia by actively participating in activities of medical research and healthcare and delivering excellence in medical education and care. 

The University independently carries out various research projects in medicine and has received the status of National Research University in 2010. Conducting pre-clinical as well as clinical studies for a better understanding of human diseases, new medicines, and medical devices have been the center of research at Pirogov Medical University.  

To keep the students and healthcare professionals updated on the latest research and innovations in medicine, the University publishes its own scientific journal with articles on biomedical sciences and clinical medicine.

The Library of Pirogov Medical University has a collection of more than 7,50,000 books. Students can also access scientific journals and eBooks through the electronic library system. For the healthcare of locals, the University operates clinical centers in Moscow. Pirogov Medical University offers a 6-Year MBBS Program in the Russian language. For international students, classes for initial years may be organized in English medium.

The Program for MBBS in Russia is focused on building a strong academic base with a pragmatic approach to education and medical research. To provide hands-on clinical experience, the students studying MBBS in Russia are involved in clinical training from the second year of MBBS. For affordable accommodation of students and make their living experience safe and better, the University maintains a comfortable dormitory. Every room is shared by two or three students, and each floor has a shared kitchen where students can cook their food. Members of the dormitory help the newcomers to settle in their new homes. For the safety of the students, the University’s security team maintains 24-hour surveillance and is capable of providing emergency response, if required.
