EXECUTIVE EDUCATION Today
Under the new joint Direction of Professor Mohamed Mahmoud Mohamedou , Director of Executive Education and Eliane Ballouhey , Executive Director of Executive Education, the Institute’s Graduate Executive Education is entering in a new strategic phase.
It is the go-to place for executives who want to anticipate the impact the future of international affairs and development will have on the way they run their organisation.
At the heart of International Geneva, our flexible and certified programmes help executives take a step forward in their career through our practical expertise, anchored in our cutting-edge research.
The Graduate Institute’s creation in 1927 was prompted by the establishment of the League of Nations in Geneva following World War I, and from the desire to avoid a new global catastrophe by making diplomacy more transparent and by better training citizens on international issues.
In the early 2000s, public authorities in Bern and Geneva initiated the idea of bringing Graduate Institute of International Studies (HEI) and Graduate Institute of Development Studies (IUED) together to increase Geneva’s international profile through the creation of a major academic institution. Discover more about the Institute>
Education and training for professionals is a clear priority of the new Institute. To meet this objective, the Institute created in 2008 an Executive Education platform that regrouped existing programmes from the two previous institutions and that will build upon existing expertise to develop a cutting-edge and diversified set of courses .

Graduate Study Programme (GSP) at UN Geneva is the longest-running educational initiative of the United Nations, now in its 62 nd year. Over the past six decades, the GSP has trained over 3,000 young people from more than 110 countries on all continents. This intensive two-week summer seminar provides an opportunity for participants to deepen their understanding of the United Nations and “International Geneva” through first-hand observations, lectures, research, and networking.
62nd GRADUATE STUDY PROGRAMME
Summit of the Future
Summit of the Future will be held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York on 22-23 September 2024. The Summit is seen as a once-in-a-generation opportunity to enhance cooperation on critical challenges and address gaps in global governance, reaffirm existing commitments including to the Sustainable Development Goals and the UN Charter, and move towards a reinvigorated multilateral system that is better positioned to positively impact people’s lives. UN Member States will consider ways to lay the foundations for more effective global cooperation that can deal with today’s challenges as well as new threats in the future.
The Summit’s outcome will be an intergovernmentally negotiated, action-oriented Pact for the Future , comprising a chapeau and five chapters covering: 1) sustainable development and financing for development; 2) international peace and security; 3) science, technology, innovation, and digital cooperation; 4) youth and future generations; and 5) transforming global governance. At the invitation of Member States, UN Secretary-General has issued eleven Policy Briefs containing more detail on certain proposals from Our Common Agenda , to support Member States in their preparations for the Summit.
62 nd Graduate Study Programme
The 62 nd GSP will be held at the Palais des Nations in Geneva, Switzerland from 1 until 12 July 2024 under the theme: “ Summit of the Future: Challenges and Opportunities ”. The Programme will consist of morning lectures given by representatives of the United Nations, other international organizations, civil sector, and diplomats, visits to institutions, and work on group projects in the afternoons. Students, divided into five working groups, will look into the five chapters of the Pact for the Future and present their findings in short papers and presentations at the end of the Programme. This research and drafting process will be student-led and student-owned, with limited support from facilitators.
In selecting participants , the Selection Committee will consider academic qualifications of the applicants, their extracurricular activities and achievements, relevant professional experience, languages spoken, as well as the applicants’ motivation, while trying to ensure fair gender and regional balance. All candidates will be informed of the results on 1 April 2024 and are thus kindly asked not to inquire about their application status until then. All decisions by the Selection Committee are final.
The application period for the 62 nd Graduate Study Programme is now closed . All applicants – both successful and unsuccessful – will be informed of the results during the first week of April.

I've applied to the MINT Programme. I think the process was pretty smooth - narrowing the essay down to 800 words was pretty tough for me, but otherwise I think it was a relatively simpler application process. The Admissions department was also super responsive and quick to address any issues I had with submitting/validation of application material.
My application's been on "Under Consideration" for a while now. Can't wait to hear back, March 15 is fast approaching!

Hi! I applied to the PhD in international law. The wait is killing me! I know last year they did interviews by this time, so I’m getting anxious I haven’t heard back.

Do they usually do interviews for PhD applicants??

Yes, that’s what I’ve heard from most of the people that were accepted last year. Then again, the PhD admission process (at least for IL) has changed considerably for this year, so maybe interviews are not a part of the process anymore.
Hi! I applied for the MINT, the wait is hard looking forward to hearing back in mid-March!!!!

Hey! I also applied for MINT.
11 hours ago, elephants_r_cool said: Nice! What specialization did you guys apply for in MINT? My first choice was Environment and Sustainability. One of my friends at IHEID told me that this is completely new-- they would let people choose their specializations after a few months at IHEID previously.

Hey all. This has been a very stressful time lol
They're likely to share decisions on admission and financial support on March 15, right?

yea thats what the website says, decisions should come on or around march 15th
we getting close to the 15th.... ?
Hey everyone - Upon checking on my application status on the portal, I noticed that certain aspects of my application have changed. For example, while I have previously indicated that I did not wish to be considered for financial aid (per the PhD-specific application instructions), that seems to have changed to 'yes'. Correspondingly, I see on the documents section of the application that I am now required to provide other files related to a request for financial aid. I am assuming the worst here which is that I was rejected for a PhD but redirected towards a MA track. Has anyone else's application details changed?

Mine remains unchanged… seems odd to change someone’s track just like that. Maybe you should try to email the admissions staff and ask about it.

Hey! Mine changed from "no" to "yes" as well. I doubt they'll redirect my application to the MA track because I have an MA degree in something VERY similar. It'll be super odd if they do that.
I emailed them to ask about this change in application - will let you know what they say, although I have a feeling they won't get back to me since decisions are expected tomorrow. I too am in the process of completing an MA in public policy (I am applying to the IR/PS PhD), so this is indeed very strange. I don't know how else to explain this other than the application being redirected toward an MA. I looked at acceptance stats from the previous years on the results page and there are a couple of instances of PhD applicants with MAs being offered a fast-track MA in lieu of an outright rejection. So, I won't be surprised if this is the case.

I applied to MINT, but my application status is doing some weird stuff too - whenever I reload it, the application follow-up page shows a bunch of new sections -- including "Status of Housing Application" and "Other conditions set by the Admissions committee". Both are still blank, and they disappear once the page has fully loaded. Not sure if anyone else has this issue? I'm guessing all of this might just be a glitch on the website, but idk

Yes! I see all of those. For conditions, I see four blank lines.... For Other conditions and Housing, the sections are entirely blank.

Yep, that's exactly it. Good to know I'm not the only one seeing it lol

Response from Admissions re: change in financial aid status (which does not really answer my initial question about why it's changed lol):
"Thank you for your message.
Do not worry. Your application file is complete and under consideration.
You will receive our reply tomorrow.
Thank you for your patience"
- sandwomyn and IHH
oh does that mean they will 100% release the results tomorrow? the 15th is the official date, but on the facebook group they mentioned it would be announced AROUND that time, so potentially a few days later. hopefully it means we will get it tomorrow ?

That does not answer much, except that we may get decisions tomorrow... ? I want to know my results but at the same time I don't want to know.

Hi, I am applying for the PhD program at the graduate institute. I am currently working on the proposal. Any idea about how specific it has to be? what about the length of the proposal? I know things are different in the United States, so your feedback on this would be great. Thank you. Nuwas
