1. Senior year will be written and directed by the same team that brought you the original: Triple J Plus (Jemima Damina, Jesimiel Damina, and Jeiel Damina).

2. Most of the major cast returned, and most of them reprised their roles in the new season.

About Neptune Studio

The origin of neptune studio.

Like most things, the company was created from a desire to tell Nigerian stories and to add to the diverse meaning of what it means to be Nigerian. This desire was mutual among our founders; Jemima, Jesimiel, and Jeiel Damina, three sisters with passions in different expressive arts including film, creative writing, and music. They formed an idea to combine individual strengths and express themselves through film.

Founders of Neptune Studio

Not entirely new to the entertainment scene, the founders were first a band called Triple J Plus ( www.triplejplus.com ) whose music careers launched in 2010 but were then put on hold to complete their education. Jemima and Jesimiel studied Film (BSc.) and Computer Animation (BSc.) respectively for their undergraduate degrees at Full Sail University, Florida.

After completing their National Youth Service Corps, they studied Entertainment Business (MSc.) and Creative Writing (MFA) respectively for their postgraduate degrees also at Full Sail University. Jeiel is currently studying Creative Writing (BFA) at Full Sail University online.

Neptune Studio Journey

The first *unofficial* project was a short film called “Presentation”. It was the first time the collaborative efforts of the founders were tested with a screenplay by Jesimiel Damina and directed by Jemima Damina.

Entirely new to the process, Jemi and Jesi also handled the wardrobe, production design, and technical production of the film with the assistance of supportive friends outside the film field. The film was eventually released under Jemima Damina’s YouTube channel with a fair amount of interest from the public.

​The journey really kicked off with their next project; a short film called “The New Girl”. Producers Jemima and Jesimiel Damina wanted to make films and launch their careers, but having grown up in small-town, Uyo, the Nigerian film industry (Nollywood), which was largely based in the big city of Lagos, seemed out of reach.

They decided to start where they were. They also decided on the best way to ensure that their stories reached their audience in the most honest and authentic way to post the film online; which is where YouTube came in. 

“The New Girl” has been widely viewed and commended. It has reached millions today and became the base for the next Neptune3 Studios project; ‘Best Friends in the World’.

This web series, after a year and a half, has concluded its first season with 24 episodes and an original soundtrack album. It has also built a global fanbase and inspired its creators to continue on their own path of wholesomeness and inspiration.

Thanks to the love and support from fans, we've decided to bring you a whole new season of Best Friends in the World!

Here are some confirmed details:

1. Senior year will be written and directed by the same team that brought you the original: Triple J Plus (Jemima Damina, Jesimiel Damina and Jeiel Damina).

2. Most of the major cast will be returning. We can't mention names yet, but most of them will most likely be reprising their roles in the new season.

Personality [ ]

Ivy is generally more competent, more cautious and less easily distracted than her brother. She generally takes charge when they are separated from Carmen.

She has a thick Boston accent like her brother, but can disguise her voice. However, her knowledge of languages is a bit mixed up. Also, she seems to know more about other countries than her brother does, as in the Fashionista Caper, she corrected Zack on his pronunciation of Acropolis ( he pronounced it 'Apocalypse), and corrected him again when he called Italian ice cream ' ice cream' instead of gelato.

She is a master of disguise and often fills in for Carmen as a double when she needs to be.

Like everyone on Carmen's team, she uses her thieving skills for good.

Ivy is also known to have a small fear of heights and does not enjoy taking risks like her brother, Zack. Though Ivy can get very frustrated with her brother's actions and decisions, she loves him very much. Ivy loves chocolate, cocoa, caramel etc.

She has chin-length reddish-orange hair, and green eyes with freckles on her cheeks. She has a broad and fit figure. She wears a black t-shirt with blue sleeves, gray capri pants, and red sneakers. She is shorter than her brother and Carmen, giving off a tough image, rather than Carmen's light and speedy one. Although only noticeable in The Robo Caper when a picture of Ivy as a mermaid is shown, if you look closely enough, she appears to have shoulder freckles.

• Mechanical skills - Ivy has shown on numerous occasions to be a gifted mechanic. She was able to custom build the inters of her sibling's shared racer car, Lydia, by herself. She can also hot-wire cars without the uses of its keys. [9] [10]

Before meeting Carmen, Ivy and her brother Zack were race car drivers. They borrowed money from a man named Sharkhead Eddie to build their car. Ivy built the car they used, and Zack drove it. They moved from amateur tracks to the professional league, where Zack met Trey Sterling, his rival. Trey taunted Zack about his car and Zack wrecked it in a reckless attempt to beat Trey. Zack and Ivy asked Eddie for more money to repair the car, but he refused, instead telling them to rob a store that was most likely used as a drop off point for the mob to pay him back.

Meeting Carmen [ ]

It was at Darryl's Donut Hole that they first encountered Carmen, who had to keep them safe as V.I.L.E. used the donut shop as a front for printing money with stolen treasury plates. V.I.L.E.'s plan was to print money as a way of buying prime real estate in Boston to expand their influence and enterprises. Despite Carmen's efforts to keep them away, the siblings still aided her in finding and destroying V.I.L.E.'s money printings, making their own tea party. Realizing they have nothing in Boston, and to avoid Eddie, the siblings opted to join Carmen on her globe trotting capers.

She especially thanks her sorority, Sigma Alpha, for keeping her passion aflame.

“I wouldn’t trade being a student of SAU for anything.” Etim says. “The people here and the experiences I’ve had has contributed so much to who I am as a person today.”

Hosted at the Peter Norton Symphony Space in New York, New York, the event will be divided into several competitive categories for a participant’s chance to be crowned Miss Nigeria USA 2016. ‘I’ve Got A Feeling’: Ivy on their Beginnings and Legacy

The band’s andy chase and dominique durand reflect on making ‘the best of ivy’ compilation after the loss of bandmate adam schlesinger.

Over the course of a career that spanned a little under 20 years, Ivy established themselves as one of the most polished indie bands around. The New York City trio — Andy Chase, Dominique Durand and the late Adam Schlesinger — excelled at crafting urbane pop with plush synths, honeyed guitars and subtle rhythmic grooves. Durand’s stylish vocals, which often boasted a hint of a French accent, anchored the music.

Ivy released their debut full-length,  Realistic , in 1995, and continued recording and releasing music around Schlesinger and Chase’s other projects on through 2011’s  All Hours . In between, the band also nabbed work for multiple high-profile films, including contributing a kicky cover of Steely Dan’s “Only a Fool Would Say That” to  Me, Myself & Irene  and scoring  Shallow Hal . 

Looking back today on a leisurely Zoom call, Durand is meditative about the disparate influences that contributed to Ivy’s chemistry. “We had a really good dynamic creatively,” she says. “Even though we had the same musical influences, Adam was really into pop songs. I was more into very indie underground stuff. Andy was sometimes more mainstream, I would say, but not in a bad way.” Adds Chase: “I was more the producer. So I was charmed by a lot of the more current stuff that might be on the radio, like, ‘Whoa, how did they do that? How’d they mix that?’ So I was always coming from more like the scientist [background].”

In hindsight, however, it’s a marvel that the New York City trio even got off the ground — much less became a band. In the early ’90s, Durand wanted to be a music journalist and photographer, not play music. Her then-boyfriend Chase, meanwhile, had only just picked up guitar. However, he took out an ad looking for musicians to start a band; in response, Schlesinger and his future Fountains of Wayne bandmate Chris Collingwood showed up.

“Adam and I had this immediate connection,” Chase recalls. “[And Dominique] was like, ‘That guy was really cool — the Adam guy. You should try to be friends with him.’” This relationship would come in handy soon after. When Chase and Durand decided to record some original tunes they sang at their wedding, with the intention of giving them out as Christmas presents for friends and family, they called up Schlesinger to contribute bass. 

That was the start of Ivy — and, from there, things progressed rather quickly. Schlesinger sent this batch of songs to record labels and immediately heard back that Atlantic Records wanted to sign the fledgling band. Durand initially balked at singing live and only reluctantly agreed to sing on the album; in fact, she told Chase and Schlesinger they’d have to find a new singer if they wanted to tour.

“I’m a very quiet person,” she says. “I’m an introvert, and I’m shy. So it’s like, it was really difficult for me to imagine my life on stage. You’re performing. You’re in front of people who are watching you. For me, it was so not what I wanted.” She laughs, adding, “It felt very scary.”

Luckily, Atlantic signed Ivy with the stipulation the band wouldn’t be required to perform live. However, fate intervened: In 1994, the now-defunct publication  Melody Maker  named the band’s song “Get Enough” as its Single of the Week. Ivy wasn’t even done recording their first EP yet, but they found themselves booked for a showcase in front of journalists from across the U.S. and the world, including New Zealand, Australia, Japan, England and Spain.

By the time the night of the show rolled out, Durand’s anxiety was through the roof. Five minutes before the show started, Chase recalls the vocalist was nowhere to be found — until he went outside and caught her trying to hail a taxi to leave. One Valium and two shots of whiskey later, Durand and the rest of Ivy were onstage, although she refused to look at the audience during the show due to shyness. 

Chase recalls thinking the show was a disaster. However, reps from Atlantic raved while visiting the band after the show. “Everyone comes in, they’re like, ‘Oh my God, you’re fantastic, Dominique, it’s incredible — like, you don’t give a shit,’” he recalls. “‘You just do your thing. And you don’t look at the audience. It’s just so cool how you don’t care.’” The press reviews were equally glowing, praising Durand’s individuality and who-cares attitude. “And we were like, ‘Oh yeah — yeah, that’s what we’re going for,’” Chase says. “Nothing we could do could turn away the wheels of momentum towards our future.”

Chase and Durand put together a compilation,  The Best Of Ivy , after Schlesinger’s death, in tandem with Mark Lipsitz from their label, Bar/None Records. Durand admits deciding which songs to include was a challenge. “It doesn’t have to be your favorite songs, but it has to be songs that describe the mood of a certain record,” she explains. “It’s not easy — and especially when you are the artist, you’re close to the songs.” 

In the end, Ivy landed on a compilation with a healthy dose of songs taken from 1997’s indie-pop classic  Apartment Life  (the horn-smeared “This Is The Day,” chiming “I’ve Got A Feeling” and psych-rock swerve “Quick, Painless And Easy”) and 2000’s trip-hop-kissed  Long Distance  (the undulating “Edge Of The Ocean,” gentle “Undertow,” the Stereolab-esque “Disappointed” and askew dream-pop “Worry About You”). Rounding out the track list is a pair of songs from 2005’s glowing electro-pop opus  In the Clear  (“Thinking About You” and “Feel So Free”) and a couple of earlier songs from the mid-1990s: the lo-fi acoustic trifle “I Hate December” and the heftier “15 Seconds.”

The curation process was also understandably quite different without Schlesinger’s opinion in the mix. “Normally, nothing ever got decided on or picked or voted on or agreed on without Adam’s input,” Chase says. “And he was a tough guy; he was a tough voice. This was so fluid and easy … And yet, it’s also sad that we don’t have that push and pull that we usually had.” Chase stresses that it’s not like he, Durand and Lipsitz had major disagreements. “But we always had to remind ourselves: What would Adam think? What would he say? Would he agree on the song?”

Emotionally, however, listening to Ivy’s entire catalog was a moving experience. “It always worked with the three of us,” Durand says. “There were obviously moments where it was difficult, because we were very different. And the three of us had a lot of personality and had very strong opinions, and would fight for whatever we felt was right. It was always intense. At the same time, it always worked out.”

For Chase, looking back also brought up a flood of vivid memories about their early days in New York City — many of which he personally documented on the Super 8 camera he received for his bar mitzvah. “How poignant it was to be refreshed with these memories and our early experiences and the course that our career took us on,” he says. “As we were putting together the  Best Of , there’s three seats in the studio. There’s me and Dominique — and the third seat is empty, because Adam’s gone.”

Ann and Gordon Getty were married for 56 years before she died in 2020. They had four sons together, including Ivy's father. Gordon Getty also has three daughters from what The Guardian called "a secret second family."

Ann and Gordon's home in the luxe neighborhood of Pacific Heights featured views of the San Francisco Bay and was filled with a vast collection of priceless antiques, wallpapers, and furnishings.

In 2022, an enormous collection of the house's treasures, including artworks by Henri Matisse, was slated for auction. This sale was expected to garner roughly $180 million, according to Town & Country .

Ivy Getty grew up traveling the world, thanks to her grandmother.

"Education was very important to Ann, so each year she planned educational trips for Ivy and her school friends," Jo Schuman, Ivy Getty's godmother and Ann Getty's best friend, told Magazine C.

"My grandmother interior designed each room of the house which allows me to feel as if she is there with me," she told Vogue in November 2021 . "Her presence is everywhere in that home."

Biographer Richard Holmes once wrote that his work was “a kind of pursuit… writing about the pursuit of that fleeting figure, in such a way as to bring them alive in the present.”

At the risk of sounding cliché, the best biographies do exactly this: bring their subjects to life. A great biography isn’t just a laundry list of events that happened to someone. Rather, it should weave a narrative and tell a story in almost the same way a novel does. In this way, biography differs from the rest of nonfiction .

4. Barracoon: The Story of the Last "Black Cargo" by Zora Neale Hurston

A prolific essayist, short story writer, and novelist, Hurston turned her hand to biographical writing in 1927 with this incredible work, kept under lock and key until it was published 2018. It’s based on Hurston’s interviews with the last remaining survivor of the Middle Passage slave trade, a man named Cudjo Lewis. Rendered in searing detail and Lewis’ highly affecting African-American vernacular, this biography of the “last black cargo” will transport you back in time to an era that, chillingly, is not nearly as far away from us as it feels.

5. Churchill: A Life by Martin Gilbert

Though many a biography of him has been attempted, Gilbert’s is the final authority on Winston Churchill — considered by many to be Britain’s greatest prime minister ever. After three years of marriage and a lavish wedding attended by Anya Taylor-Joy, Nancy Pelosi and Olivia Rodrigo, the oil heiress is seeking a divorce from her husband, Tobias Engel.

Ivy Getty, the oil heiress and model, has filed for divorce from her husband, Tobias Engel, a little over two years after the couple hosted a lavish wedding celebration at the San Francisco home of the bride’s grandmother Ann Getty. The themed outfits, designer dresses and starry guest list all combined for a spectacle that was breathlessly covered by the fashion press.

Here’s what we know about the couple’s split so far.

Who is Ivy Getty?

Ivy Love Getty is the great-granddaughter of the oil tycoon J. Paul Getty and the only daughter of the musician John Gilbert Getty and the jewelry designer Alyssa Boothby. After her father’s death in 2020, Ms. Getty paid tribute in an Instagram post , calling him the “coolest man to ever land on this planet.”

In addition to being an heiress, Ms. Getty is also a fashion model represented by Ford Models . (She appeared on the cover of Town & Country in May 2022.) Like her grandmother, the publisher and interior designer Ann Getty, who also died in 2020 , Ivy is a philanthropist. In 2022, she held a charity dinner in Venice to raise money for Ukraine. “Philanthropy is the most important thing to me,” she told L’Officiel , adding, “It’s important to stay aware of what is going on in the world.”

A fashion darling, Ms. Getty attended the Met Gala in 2022 in custom Oscar de la Renta and in 2023 in Maison Margiela . She is a fashion week staple in New York, London and Paris.

Who is her husband, Tobias Engel?

Tobias Engel is a photographer and the son of Peter Engel, an Austrian businessman, and Cheryl Prime, an English actress. Ms. Getty told Vogue that the couple first met through a relative before running into each other again at Paris Fashion Week.

“I saw this cute guy who was taking photos of the event and of me,” she said. “I naturally went over, and we started talking.”

What’s the latest with their marriage?

In January, after three years of marriage, Ms. Getty filed for divorce from Mr. Engel in the Supreme Court of New York County. (The couple were married in a private ceremony in December 2020, some 11 months before their San Francisco wedding celebration.) Mr. Engel, who court records show responded to the complaint on March 25, is contesting the divorce.

What is a contested divorce?

A contested divorce means either that one of the spouses does not want a divorce, or that the spouses do not agree on the grounds for the divorce or what should become of their children, finances or property after the split. (In New York State, there is a separate process for uncontested, or amicable, divorces.) Claire O’Connor, a representative for Ms. Getty, declined to comment on the reason for divorce or why it is being contested.

Presumably their wedding was an understated affair, no?

Not quite. Rather, the wedding was as lavish as one might expect for the great-granddaughter of an oil tycoon who was once the richest man in the world — back when a billion dollars still meant something .

The actress Anya Taylor-Joy was her maid of honor , and the ceremony was officiated by the former speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi. (Ms. Getty was raised in San Francisco, Ms. Pelosi’s congressional district and home turf .) Ms. Getty’s 16-foot veil and mirrored wedding dress were designed by John Galliano for Maison Margiela. Mr. Galliano designed not only Ms. Getty’s dress, but also the dresses for all 14 bridesmaids. It is not something he normally does but he was “bewitched” by Ms. Getty, he told Vogue .

Who was there?

Earth, Wind & Fire performed at a 1960s-inspired welcome party, the first event of a three-day celebration. As Ms. Pelosi officiated in the transformed San Francisco City Hall, Mayor London Breed and Gov. Gavin Newsom were in attendance. The fashion designer Wes Gordon was photographed with Ms. Getty’s aunt Vanessa Getty. The crown princess of Greece rubbed shoulders with the social media star Rickey Thompson. Princess Olympia of Greece and Denmark shared the dance floor with the pop star Olivia Rodrigo and the YouTuber Gigi Gorgeous.

Before this union, had her family done anything of note?

Most notably, the Getty family has made its billions thanks to the patriarch J. Paul Getty , who founded Getty Oil. In 1974, he had an estimated fortune of $2 billion to $4 billion. Mr. Getty is also known for his refusal to pay a $16 million ransom for a grandson who was kidnapped by an Italian crime syndicate in 1973.

“I have 14 other grandchildren and if I pay one penny now, then I’ll have 14 kidnapped grandchildren,” Mr. Getty said at the time.

It wasn’t until his grandson’s ear was mailed to an Italian newspaper that he relented and the family paid a reported $2.8 million ransom.
