“It’s hard to beat a person who never gives up.” ~ Babe Ruth

The sports industry is full of inspirational and determined people. My favourite cricketer is Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who has also earned names like Mahi, Captain Cool, and MSD. Dhoni is an international Indian cricketer who plays as a middle-order batsman and a wicket-keeper.

He is also known to be a finisher in many matches. He is the only cricketer under whose captainship India has won a trophy in every ICC format. In 2011, Dhoni was also featured in the TIME’s List of 100 Most Influential People in The World.

Dhoni was born in Ranchi, Jharkhand. In school, he used to play football. He played football at the district level and club level as a goalkeeper. His football coach asked him to try playing cricket.

Dhoni impressed everyone with his wicket-keeping skills and started focusing entirely on this game after the 10th standard. His favourite player at that time was Sachin Tendulkar , who he called his Hero.

In the early years of his career, Dhoni played school cricket and club cricket. He then played in the Ranji Trophy wherein he scored a half-century in his debut match.

From the years 2001 to 2003, Dhoni worked in the railways as a travelling ticket examiner. His colleagues remembered him to be honest and straight forward. After two years of working in the railways, Dhoni made his way back into cricket .

The Dhoni Era

Dhoni was picked up in the One Day International (ODI) India squad against Bangladesh. Dhoni was unable to make an impact in his first match as he got run out for a duck. But from the very next game, Dhoni started showing what he was really capable of doing. He scored an unbeaten 183 runs against Sri Lanka when Sachin Tendulkar gave away his wicket early in the game.

Dhoni helped India win matches under challenging situations. Whenever Dhoni came to bat, he accelerated the run rate and led India to victory. He was also holding the number one spot in ICC ODI Rankings in the year 2006.

Dhoni is an aggressive ball hitter and one of the fastest runners between the wickets. He is always praised by cricketers worldwide for his light speed stumping. He holds the record for the highest number of stumping by any wicket-keeper.

The starting of the 2007 Cricket World Cup was a bit rough for our beloved Dhoni. In two matches, he got out for zero. This agitated and angered some Indian political activists so much that they vandalised and damaged his house in Ranchi.

But Dhoni was not one to give up. He played some fantastic and record-breaking knocks after this episode. He regained his top spot in the ICC rankings, and his batting average per match reached a good 70 runs. Because of this spectacular display of performance, Dhoni was made the captain of the Indian cricket team in the year 2007.

Dhoni’s Captaincy

Dhoni is regarded as the most successful Indian captain, even by Sourav Ganguly and Sachin Tendulkar. It was under his captaincy that the Indian cricket team rose to the top spot in the ICC Rankings.

Under him, India won the 2011 Cricket World Cup. In the final against Sri Lanka, India had already lost three of its best batsmen. Dhoni promoted himself in the order and went out to bat before the in-form Yuvraj Singh.

He built a great partnership with Gautam Gambhir and ended the match for India with a six. He scored an unbeatable 91 runs and was also named the Man of the Match. The bat that he used in the match was auctioned and sold for Rs. 72 lakhs. All of this money went to his wife’s foundation that helps take care of and support orphaned children.

Dhoni has also captained the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He was contracted by CSK for a hefty 1.5 million dollars in the year 2010, thus making him the most expensive player to be auctioned in IPL for the first season. Under his captainship, CSK were declared winners in the years 2010, 2011 and 2018.

My Favourite Player Essay

MS Dhoni is the third captain to win 100 matches, after two Australians, Ricky Ponting, and Allan Border.

A bio was also made on MS Dhoni.

M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story, which came out in theatres on 30 th  September 2016.

It touched rs200 crore mark at the box office. The role of MS Dhoni was played by the leading actor Sushant Singh Rajput. He gave complete resemblance of Dhoni in the movie, and gave an excellent performance.

Do you know, that in his bio, it has also been showed that at first Mahendra Singh Dhoni was fond of Football but his coach motivated him for Cricket. It is an amazing movie.

Many people come and go but Dhoni will always remain in our heart, as he is the best player a team could get. There would be more Sachin’s and Virat’s but there is no one compare to Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

MS Dhoni has few nicknames, his fan base calls him Mahi, or Dhoni.

Dhoni is the shooting star for his parents. His dedication has inspired many. He is the reason behind the Indian team’s success.

And as I have mentioned above that Dhoni had an interest in football so along with Abhishek Bachchan and Vita Dani, Dhoni is now a co-owner of Chennai based Football club Chennaiyin FC, a franchise of the Indian Super League.

Along with Sahara India Pariwar, Dhoni is the co-owner of Ranch Rays.

As we all know that Dhoni had tie up with a lot of TV advertisements that is, he was the brand ambassador of many brands.

The endorsements that Dhoni signed are

In 2005- Pepsico, Reebok, Exide, TVS Motors.

In 2006- Mysore Sandal Soap, Videocon, Reliance Communications, Reliance Energy, Orient PSPO Fan, Bharat Petroleum, Titan Sonata, Brylcreem, NDTV, GE Money.

Though MS Dhoni has backed out from his captaincy now, but no one can ever beat him. He is the best, as I have said before many would come and go but Dhoni will always remain like a legend in the history of Indian Cricket. He is one of its kind.

My Favourite Game Cricket Essay

Cricket is not just a game but an emotion for all Indians. We consider it a festival, and it brings us immense happiness. It is sometimes also said that cricket is also the unofficial sport of India. My Favourite Game Cricket Essay

100 Words Essay On My Favourite Game Cricket

Cricket is my favourite game. It is a very famous sport and has immensely evolved during the ages. Cricket is for both men and women. It is an outdoor game which requires a total of 11 players. Two teams play against each other, and the team with the maximum number of runs wins the match. Cricket can be played in three forms - a test match, a twenty-twenty and a one-day game. Cricket has two parts - one is batting, and the other is fielding or bowling. The team that wins the toss gets to choose whether they are willing to bat or bowl. My favourite is batting since I excel in that part. Cricket is also known as the “game of uncertainty”, as the winner cannot be easily predicted until the last ball.

200 Words Essay On My Favourite Game Cricket

I love playing all sports, but a sport that excites me is cricket. Two teams consisting of 11 players each play it. The official body that governs all cricket and organises tournaments is ICC. Cricket has three formats mainly: test format, ODI format, and T20 format. The test match is for five days. The ODI runs for 50 overs, and the T20 game is for 20 overs which is the shortest format.

Cricket has been an integral part of my life since my childhood. Playing gully cricket with my friends on Sunday afternoons is a memory that till now I love to relive. Each six, four, or wicket can bring tears to our eyes, either of joy or sadness. I still remember the world cup winning night in 2011. We were all jumping with happiness, and that six from Dhoni made us cry out of joy. I was also a batsman in a state-level team back then. Every game of cricket makes me happy, and the glee of playing or watching cricket is immeasurable. This game has taught me sportsmanship spirit and to never give up until the game is over. Cricket is not just a game but rather a beautiful emotion.

500 Words Essay On My Favourite Game Cricket

Sports have always been an essential part of my life since childhood. Cricket is my favourite game. Cricket is the national sport of England. The Britishers introduced it before Indian Independence. Since then, it has become an essential sport for survival in India, Pakistan and Bangladesh. In India, too, cricket is widely played among men and women of all ages. I started watching cricket on television in my childhood. Since then, I have always been mesmerised by this game. Cricket, also known as the “game of uncertainty”, can never be predicted until the last ball. After the ICC Cricket world cup, IPL is considered one of the biggest cricket tournaments. The World Cup is my favourite tournament.

My Favourite Player

My favourite player is Virat Kohli. He is my inspiration and helps me to believe that we can achieve whatever we can if we are determined. His batting style and the attitude he carries on and off the field make me his fan. He plays an integral role in making India a strong competitor in the ICC tournaments. He has already achieved so many things at such a young age that he is known to be one of the most incredible men who have ever played the game of cricket.

About Cricket

Cricket is played between 2 teams; each team consists of 11 members. It has two main parts—the first being batting and the second being bowling or fielding. The team winning the toss can choose whether to bat or bowl first. The team with the maximum number of runs wins the match. A total of 3 umpires are present during a game to give their decision on whether the particular batsman is out, not out, hit a six or hit a four. The third umpire is the one to tackle a difficult situation where critical decisions need to be taken.

Significance Of Cricket

Cricket, also known as the “gentleman’s game”, has emerged as a worldwide sport. Earlier, women were not encouraged by society to play cricket. But over the years, the spirit of cricket has encouraged women to participate in this game too. Nowadays people visit and cheer for women's cricket tournaments. Even though cricket is not the national game of India, it is still considered to be one of the most played sports. India has won the ICC ODI (One Day International) World Cup twice. The first was in 1983, and the second one was in 2011 under the captainship of Kapil Dev and MS Dhoni, respectively. India also won the T20 World Cup in 2007 and the Champions Trophy in 2013. The World Cup is held every four years.

My Love For Cricket

Cricket is my favourite sport. I love batting. Playing with friends in summer and winter evenings is the best part of my day. Virat Kohli is my favourite batsman. It baffles me how much the man has gained at such a young age. He keeps on inspiring me with his skills and talent. Over the years, cricket has enhanced my critical thinking and also developed the qualities of team spirit and hard work. I want to be a great cricketer and represent my country on the international cricket platform.

My Favourite Game Cricket Essay in 5, 10 lines for Class 2 to 10

Team FK

My Favourite Game Cricket Essay : Cricket being the most popular game amongst the others is the favourite of all the kids and adults. For most of the Indians it’s not just a game but a festival. We can live without watching the news but we can’t sit back without knowing the score. We have so much love for this game that mere words are not enough to describe it.

Today I will write some essays on the topic ‘ My favourite game Cricket ’ in different formats like 5 lines, 10 lines, 100 words, 200 words and 500 words.

My favourite game Cricket (5 lines)

  • Cricket is the most popular sport in the world.
  • It is played between teams with a bat and a ball.
  • The team with the most runs wins the game.
  • There are 11 players who are batsman, bowlers and fielders in a team.
  • I also watch cricket on television, M.S. Dhoni is my favourite player.

My favourite game Cricket (10 lines)

  • I love playing cricket the most.
  • It is a game played between two teams with 11 players in each team.
  • The game is judged by two umpires present on the field.
  • Each has to score runs and the one who scores the most is the winner.
  • There are sets of bowlers and batsmen in each team as it is played with a bat and a ball.
  • This game was once considered as a Royal game.
  • The game is played in various formats like ODI , T20 and test matches.
  • Before every match a coin toss is done and the team who wins chooses if they want to bat or bowl.
  • I play cricket everyday with my friends.
  • The reason why I love the game cricket is because of the cricketer M. S. Dhoni.

My favourite game Cricket (200 words)

Out of all the games I love to play cricket the most. It is the most popular game around the world. I love to watch and play the game as well. This game is played in many formats like T20, ODI and test matches.

I love to watch the ODI world cup which is held every 4 years by the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the match I enjoy the most is India vs Pakistan. Cricket originated from England and from there it was spread around the globe.

Cricket is a game played between two teams of 11 players each. Each team has to play until they reach the over limit or until the team is all out. The team which makes the most runs wins the match. Each team has batsman , bowlers and fielders .

I love to play cricket with my friends in the playground. And not just at home but even at our school we play cricket daily and have practice. My friends and team doesn’t let me do batting much but they always let me bowl because I take the most wickets and do not let the other team make many runs.

My favourite Game Cricket (500 words)

I play a lot of games but cricket is my favourite. Cricket is played between two teams. The teams can consist of 11 players. The game is played with a ball and a bat.

The team which scores the most run is the winner of this game. This game is played on different levels like international, national etc. Cricket has several formats such as ‘One day’, ‘Test cricket’ and ‘T20’.

Cricket is considered a gentleman’s sport. Cricket was invented in England. Other than the players there are two more people present on the field they are the umpires. Umpires take the final decision of any action in the game.

The players who throw the ball are called the bowlers; the players who hit the ball using the bat are called the batsmen. Each bowler can bowl for one over which contains six balls. The players who catch the ball or stop the ball after the batsmen hit are called the fielders.

Before the game a coin toss is done between the two teams, whoever wins the toss he gets to decide if they want to bat or bowl. This game is played on the field and in the centre of the field is the pitch.

While doing the batting, the bowler can take the wicket of the batsmen by either hitting directly the stumps behind him or by throwing the ball at the stumps on either side of the pitch while the batsman is taking a run. Another way to take a wicket is when the batsman hits the ball in the air and the fielder catches it before the ball hits the ground or the boundary.

Cricket was first played by Prince Edward in England during the sixteenth century and from there it began to spread throughout the world and this was the reason why this game was called a ‘Royal Game’.

In India this game was introduced by the British and now this game has become more popular and loved than our national game.

A council called the International Cricket Council (ICC) was created to organize and support the game. ICC also provided the proper rules and regulations for the game.

One day or ODI format is basically a match that is played in one day where each team has to play for 50 overs in that single day.

T20 format is one in which each team has to play for 20 overs. This format is played in different tournaments like Indian Premier League (IPL) and ICC T20 World cup which is held every four years.

At last I would like to conclude my essay by saying that I love cricket because of how easily this game could be understood and played and someday I would like to work hard and make it to team India and represent my nation

These are some of the essays I have written on my favourite game, you can use pointers from taking these as examples to write your own essay. I used cricket but if you want to use any other sport you can just use any of these essays or if you want to be creative you can just mix these together and form an essay of your own. Cricket’s charm lies in its complexity and subtlety. It’s a game of strategy, skill, and mental strength, where the tide can turn in a matter of minutes. The game’s unpredictability is what makes it so intriguing. One moment you are on top, the next you could be struggling to stay in the game. It’s a test of patience, endurance and tactical acumen.

Life Lessons from Cricket

Cricket is not just about winning or losing; it’s a reflection of life itself. It teaches us about teamwork, leadership, handling pressure, and bouncing back from failures. The game instils a sense of discipline and provides a platform to showcase individual talent within a team framework. It’s a game where the contributions of every team member matter, and the collective effort determines the outcome.

The Thrill of Batting and Bowling

The exhilaration of batting is unparalleled. The sound of the leather ball hitting the bat’s sweet spot, the sight of it soaring high into the sky, and the euphoria of scoring a boundary or a six, is an experience beyond words. Bowling, on the other hand, is an art that requires precision, control and a deep understanding of the opponent’s psychology. The joy of taking a wicket after a well-thought-out plan is immensely satisfying.

The Role of Cricket in Bridging Gaps

Cricket has the power to bridge gaps between nations, cultures, and communities. It brings people together, fostering a spirit of sportsmanship and mutual respect. International cricket events like the World Cup or the Ashes series are not just sporting events, but also cultural exchanges that promote understanding and goodwill among nations.

In conclusion, cricket is more than just a sport to me. It’s a game that encapsulates life’s trials and triumphs, a game that brings people together, and a game that teaches important life lessons. The thrill of playing cricket, the joy of watching it, and the lessons it offers, make it my favourite game. Every time I watch or play a game of cricket, it reinforces my love for this wonderful sport. The game of cricket is a beautiful symphony that I will never tire of.
