ఐపీఎస్ ఆఫీస‌ర్ ఆర్య‌న్ (భ‌ర‌త్‌) హ‌త్య‌కు గుర‌వుతాడు. అత‌డిని హ‌త్య చేసింది ఎవ‌రో క‌నిపెడ‌తాడు అసిస్టెంట్ పోలీస్ క‌మీష‌న‌ర్ అర్జున్ ( సుధీర్‌బాబు). ఆ వివ‌రాల్ని క‌మీష‌న‌ర్ మోహ‌న్ భార్గ‌వ్ కు (శ్రీకాంత్‌)చెబుతున్న స‌మ‌యంలోనే అత‌డికి యాక్సిడెంట్ అవుతుంది.

Tollywood talented young actor Sudheer Babu has now come up with an action thriller Hunt. Directed by Mahesh, the movie has Srikanth Meka and Bharath Niwas in other crucial roles. The film has hit the screens today, and let’s see how it is.

Assistant Commissioner Of Police Arjun Prasad (Sudheer Babu) meets with a brutal accident due to which he loses his memory. Before the accident, he will be investigating his friend and ACP Aryan Dev’s (Bharat Niwas) murder case. After the accident, another friend of Arjun Prasad, and Commissioner of Police Mohan Bhargav (Srikanth) asks Arjun to work on the case without revealing his memory loss to anyone in the department. Who killed Aryan Dev? Did Arjun solve the case? Did Arjun regain his memory? Watch the film to know the answers.

Plus Points:

Sudheer Babu is a brilliant performer and the young actor scores high with his impeccable performance in the movie. Be it the intense action sequences or emotional scenes, Sudheer has given a superior performance. With Hunt, Sudheer has inched a step further in his career. Sudheer Babu’s potential as an actor is tapped completely by the film’s director.

Bharath and Sreekanth are perfectly cast for Aryan Dev and Mohan Bhargav’s roles. Their characters travel along with the story and it is good to see two seasoned artists get good performance-oriented roles. Their scenes with Sudheer Babu worked quite well.

The film’s first half is quite interesting and there are a good amount of engaging scenes here. The way action is linked to the story is impressive. Filmmakers of late have been including songs even if they were not needed and thankfully Hunt doesn’t make this mistake.

Mounika Reddy was seen throughout the film and she did a brilliant job as the Police officer. There is a very meaningful scene of her with Sudheer Babu which was clap-worthy. Actress Chitra Shukla was good in her given role.

Minus Points:

After a fine first half, the tempo loses the grip completely in the second half. The momentum didn’t carry here and the proceedings become boring and uninteresting after a point in time. The result could have been great had the second half been designed in a captivating and engrossing manner.

The climax twist is shocking and is surely a brave attempt in mainstream Telugu cinema. This particular aspect might be likable only by a few and it might not go well with all sections of the audience.

The editing needed some betterment as a few sequences seem stretched. Due to the slowness in a few portions, the overall impact got hampered to an extent.

Technical Aspects:

The tense music by Ghibran was according to the film’s mood and it elevated a few scenes. Arun Vincent’s cinematography is fine and so are the production values. As stated above, the editing could have been still better.

Coming to the director, Mahesh Surapaneni, he did an okay job with the film. While the first half is filled with interesting elements, the second hour isn’t that engaging as the first part. However, he extracted solid performances from the three actors.

On the whole, Hunt manages to engage in parts. Sudheer Babu’s fantastic act is ably supported by Srikanth and Bharath. The investigation angle is partly absorbing. The film’s fate depends on how the audience receives the crucial twist. Overall the film ends up as a passable watch this weekend.

Hunt review: Poor script fails Sudheer Babu’s challenging hunt for success

Mahesh Surapaneni’s directorial has both shortcomings and impressive moments, making it just another cop drama.

Sudheer Babu’s suspense action thriller Hunt is in theatres on Thursday, 26 January. The film also features Tamil actor Bharat and senior hero Srikanth in key roles.

In the pre-release events, Sudheer Babu claimed no one had made a film like it in Telugu to date. Let’s find out if this was just hype or whether this hunt actually packs a punch.

Young police officers Arjun Prasad (Sudheer Babu) and Aryan Dev (Bharat) are close friends. But their friendship gets cut short when Aryan Dev — an ACP — is shot dead.

A deeply hurt Arjun now takes it upon himself to find the killer.

When Arjun is all set to nab Aryan’s killers, fate strikes in the form of an accident. As a result, he suffers from memory loss.

Arjun nabbing his friend’s killers despite his seriously debilitating memory loss condition is what Hunt is all about.

Meanwhile, there is also another angle to the story, but the director fails to handle it well. It is better if the audience gets to know about it while watching the movie.

How intense is Hunt?

When it comes to the story, Hunt takes a path similar to many suspense and cop action flicks.

The movie also religiously follows the tricks and twists of police action flicks. But one novel aspect is the memory loss twist.

How Arjun tackles memory loss and recreates the whole scene in his hunt for criminals, gives scope to offer a new kind of cop action thriller for the audience.

But director Mahesh Surapaneni only partly exploits the potential in the story.

A slow first half and shortcomings in screenplay play spoilsport. As a result, Hunt turns into just another suspense thriller.

The performances

Either in terms of looks or acting, Sudheer Babu has done his job well. Roles like these are a perfect fit for him.

Most of the movie revolves around his character, and he manages to keep the audience engaged.

He needs to be praised for trying a challenging and risky role. More support from the script would have made this a hit flick.

Tamil actor Bharat is familiar to the Telugu audience, too. Though he gets limited screen space, he gets a do a crucial role.

It is good to see Bharat — a talented actor — in a Telugu film after a long time.

Technical crafts

There is just one song in the movie, and that too is passable. However, Ghibran has done a decent job in terms of the background score.

Arul’s cinematography is in tune with the cop suspense thriller genre.

The makers of Hunt proudly claimed that Hollywood stunt choreographer Renaud Favero worked on the action sequences.

But we don’t understand what value addition he has done to the movie.

One big letdown is editing. A gripping narration is indispensable for cop flicks like these.

Hunt seems to be lacking in many other aspects.

Editor Pravin Pudi should have made the necessary changes to keep the movie shorter and more engaging.

Hunt is a decently made movie that has both shortcomings and impressive moments. But, in these days of content explosion, it has turned out to be just another cop-action thriller.

Sudheer Babu has claimed that the action choreography in “Hunt” will stun the audiences. He also said that he made a daring step with this film. 

Let’s find out its merits and demerits.

Story: Police officer Aryan Dev (Bharat), a friend and colleague of ACP Arjun Prasad's (Sudheer Babu), is murdered after being shot at while accepting a gallantry award.

While on the phone with his boss Mohan (Srikanth), Arjun Prasad reveals that he has identified the murderer; however, in the very next moment, he is involved in an accident and suffers from selective memory loss.

Arjun Prasad makes a full recovery, but it takes a long time for his memory to return. Even so, his superior Mohan is determined to re-attach the case and identify Aryan Dev's killer.

How successful will Arjun Prasad be in tracking down the murderer a second time?

Artistes’ Performances: Sudheer Babu has previously played police officers, but this one is very different. The twist in his character is the difference, which is a big risk for any actor to take. He accepted the challenge and played the role in his own unique way.

In this film, he does not have a female partner.

Bharat convincingly plays Sudheer Babu's friend. He's a good fit for the part. Srikanth as police chief is fine.

Technical Excellence: The film's technical and production values are satisfactory. While the cinematography is adequate, the background music is ok. The film has only one song, a forgettable item number. Dialogues are neat.

Analysis "Hunt," starring Sudheer Babu, is a story of a police investigation into a murder, based on the Malayalam film "Mumbai Police." The killer's identity is concealed until the very end, which may come as a surprise to viewers who are not familiar with the original source material.

The film presents itself as a standard investigative thriller, but its climax focuses on a character who denies the existence of his true nature. Nonlinear storytelling and frequent flashbacks help keep viewers guessing about the killer's identity. However, as the story progresses, shocking revelations emerge, and the plot centers around this twist.

Director Mahesh made some changes to the original Malayalam script, and the beginning of the film is engaging. However, the middle portion of the film appears to deviate from the main plot and includes unnecessary elements.

While it is commendable that Sudheer Babu is willing to take on new roles, the audience's reaction may be mixed. The plot twist could have been presented in a more convincing manner.

Sudheer Babu has been struggling to deliver a hit from the past few years. He tested his luck with HUNT, an action thriller. The film is the remake of the Malayalam blockbuster film Mumbai Police. Here is the complete review of HUNT:

Arjun Prasad (Sudheer Babu) works as an Assistant Commissioner in Hyderabad and Mohan (Srikanth) is his superior. Aryan (Bharat) too is an Assistant Commissioner. All these three are good friends and Arjun, Aryan works on a mission at the country’s border and assassinates the terrorists. Aryan receives an award from the Governor for his achievement. During his speech, an unknown person shoots Aryan who gets killed. Arjun has been asked to investigate the case. Arjun finds the real culprit but before he informs the same to Mohan, his car meets with an accident. Arjun forgets about the past and the investigation reaches the first page again. Arjun takes up the investigation again and the rest of the film is all about reopening the case and finding the real culprit in the crime. Watch HUNT to know about the story.

HUNT is the remake of Mumbai Police and it released a decade ago in Malayalam. The case was a sensation ten years ago and it sounds pretty normal today. The climax portion was a sensation in the original and the makers predicted the same with the Telugu version but it turns out to be a huge misfire. Any murder mystery needs a strong crime scene but it misses in HUNT. There would be lot of characters to raise the curiosity in a crime thriller. The narration lacks interest and the film happens on a dull note. The friendship scenes too lack interest. The terrorist episode tries hard to raise curiosity and it fails big time. The interval bang too is quite weak.

The investigation happens at a slow pace in the second half. HUNT is a true remake to the original and there are lot of outdated elements as the film released ten years ago. A film like HUNT should have a brilliant screenplay with some interesting twists. The director believed in the climax twist alone and this did not work out for the film.

Performances:

Sudheer Babu did a huge risk for HUNT but the film is a huge misfire. The film did not match his body language or his image as an actor. Sudheer Babu delivered his best for the film. The director failed badly in making HUNT an impressive and gripping crime thriller. The action episodes are ok. The characters of Srikanth and Bharat should have been better. Goparaju Ramana, Gopi and Manjula have done justice for their roles.

The production values of HUNT are decent. Ghibran’s background score sounds good but the party song was not registered well. Apsara Rani looked glamorous in the song. The cinematography work is decent. Some of the Hollywood technicians worked for the action stunts but they are not quite effective. HUNT is a film that is made based on the climax twist. This turns out to be a huge misfire.

Verdict: HUNT fails badly as the narration looks poor and outdated. The climax twist fails badly.

What’s it about?

ACP Arjun (Sudheer Babu) has tracked down the killer of his friend Aryan Dev (Bharath). Aryan Dev worked as a cop as well. Arjun suffers from partial memory loss while tracking down the identity of the murderer.

Despite his memory problems, his boss Mohan (Srikanth) assigns him to investigate the murder case again. Many secrets are revealed as Arjun embarks on his mission to find the culprit. Can Arjun handle the shocking findings?

Hunt, starring Sudheer Babu, is a remake of the Malayalam thriller Mumbai Police (2013). The unexpected twist in the Malayalam movie shocked the audience. The Malayalam film was both critically acclaimed and widely panned. Almost ten years later, Sudheer Babu had the courage to give Telugu a try.

If I may put it succinctly, the story’s climactic reveal is both its greatest strength and its weakness.

The conclusion of the Malayalam film is left vague, but the Telugu adaptation is clear. Both the Malayalam and Telugu films represent something of a risk in the world of mainstream filmmaking. Our audiences typically reject well-known actors in these types of roles. But Prithviraj Sukumar went ahead. And Sudheer Babu did it in Telugu. It’s a brave move.

The big reveal and the climax, however, could divide audiences. The film is about how the protagonist conceals his true identity from the outside world.

However, the genre of “Hunt” is more of an investigative thriller. The main plot is established in the first act itself: a police officer is murdered, and his friend (the protagonist) investigates the crime and identifies the killer, despite having temporary memory loss as a result of an accident. The rest of the film is a series of flashbacks and red herrings (false leads) designed to reveal the drama while keeping the mystery surrounding the killer’s identity intact. The film starts to fall apart after a certain point due to its increased attention to other possible culprits.

Sudheer Babu has taken a risk that no other well-known actor would dare take. He makes an honest and sincere effort. The casting of Bharat (“Premiste” fame) as Sudheer Babu’s friend is spot on. Srikanth is okay.

Technically, the film holds up fairly well. The work of director Mahesh and his writers’ team is satisfactory.

Bottom-line: ‘’Hunt,’ based on a Malayalam film, is a thriller with an unusual premise and an unexpected climax. Most audiences, particularly those with conservative beliefs, may be turned off by the plot twist. Aside from that, when the film’s main selling point is its big twist, it needed a more convincing narrative.

Mahesh Surapaneni is the director of the action thriller film Hunt, which is set to release in 2023 in Telugu. In it, Bharath, Srikanth, and Sudheer Babu star. It is based on several real-life events that happened in the states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana and was produced by B. Madhu under the Bhavya Creations Division brand.

In Ghibran composed the film’s soundtrack, while Arul Vincent handled the photography and Praveen Pudi handled the editing. Mumbai Police, a 2013 Malayalam film, was remade in this version. Reviews for the movie have Hyderabad’s ACP, P. Arjun Prasad, is engaged in an accident that causes him to lose part of his memory.

Arjun was speaking with Commissioner of Police Mohan Bhargav prior to the accident. Before revealing the identity of the murderer, an accident occurs that causes partial memory loss. He tells Mohan that he has solved the murder case of his best friend, ACP Aryan Dev, who was shot dead by a sniper at a gallantry awards ceremony at the police parade ground.

After being released from the hospital, assassins assault Arjun in his flat, but he repels them. Mohan informs Arjun about their association with Aryan as well as the case studies that Arjun has conducted. Because of their prior experience with the Mumbai counterterrorism section, the three of them were dubbed Mumbai Police.

Despite Arjun’s memory loss, Mohan reassigns him to the case due to his exceptional police skills. Arjun finds it difficult to settle into his new life, which begins to interfere with his career. As the investigation goes on, Arjun learns that although he was a daredevil police officer with an amazing record, he was also well-known for his violent tendencies, drinking, and womanizing.

Arjun discovers that the sniper that killed Aryan was operated by remote. Team members implore Arjun to step away from the case as his investigation goes south, but Arjun insists on having two more days to solve the mystery and identify the culprit. When a strange man shows up at Arjun’s flat, he starts acting strangely, which puzzles Arjun and forces him to beat him out. When Arjun discovers he is a secret gay man, he starts crying.

Arjun approaches Mohan and demands to hear the entire audio tape he left on his voicemail before to his accident. Prior to the accident, Arjun got to know Aryan’s fiancée Nivetha, who showed him the video of Aryan’s practice award speech, in which he dedicated it to Arjun. Then it is revealed that Arjun killed Aryan because he believed he might depose Arjun after learning about his homosexuality.

After watching the film and sobbing, Arjun confessed to his crimes to Mohan and asked that he be arrested. Mohan told Arjun that he could utilize his mental status to get out of this case, but Arjun said that even if he was freed, he would always carry the guilt that he killed Aryan. Well, let’s get into a detailed review of the film and find out whether the film is worth watching or not.

Movie Verdict

We have seen many memory loss films over the years and this film Hunt also falls into a regular memory loss film, the film starts off with an accident where Arjun lost his memory, and it then dives into Arjun’s character establishment, and without wasting much time Arjun starts to recall his memory, especially he had solved the case of his commissioner but he doesn’t remember about the case, however, the first half pace is a bit slow but it holds few suspense elements and action blocks, second half where Arjun dig deep into his past and while unfolding all the points related to a murder case which makes us invested in the story but, the emotion didn’t land well in the screenplay and climax should have been much better.

Sudheer Babu as a memory loss cop does a good job but he failed in a few scenes and his looks seem to be a big minus of his character, Srikant as a senior cop of Sudheer Babu does a fair job, and also his character has nothing to challenge him, Premiste Bharath has done a passable job as his character has no scope but he manages with his fair performance and rest of the cast did their best as per the story requires.

Mahesh Surapaneni directs the film, amid many memory loss films he dealt with the film with honesty where he didn’t try to add any commercial elements and he sticks to the subject, despite the flaws in the narrative he partly succeeded in engaging the audience with few twists, action. Technically, Hunt looks okay, Arul Vincent’s cinematography is regular and adds nothing to the film, Ghibran saves the film from start to end, and the rest of the technical team did well.’

To sum it up, Hunt is a well-made action thriller with a unique plot in recent times.

Hunt Review – Dull Thriller With a Decent Ending

Mohan Bhargav (Sreekanth), who, along with Arjun and Aryan, are known as Mumbai Trio, gets Arjun back on the case immediately after his recovery. Did he find the killer? Finding him out is the movie’s core plot.

Performances Sudheer Babu gets a challenging role in Hunt. While on the surface, it looks like a regular cop part; a lot is going on internally. He has done decently when seen in total. 

The role offers two shades to Sudheer Babu. There is the usual aggressive cop act with attitude, and the other version is a soft and composed guy going through the job clinically. Both require certain intensity, and Sudheer Babu has been able to get to the mark in parts. He has done the calmer guy portions well compared to the aggressive ones, where it looks like he is trying hard. The latter doesn’t look that natural. 

Eventually, Hunt , due to the characterisation and effort, will find a place among the top efforts from Sudheer Babu, without any doubt. However, he hasn’t gotten to the part’s full potential.

Analysis Mahesh Surapaneni of Kathalo Rajakumari fame directs Hunt. It is a remake of the Malayalam thriller Mumbai police. 

The story is good, and one is hooked to it right from the start. But, the direction fails to deliver when it comes to an engaging narrative. 

The proceedings move at a lethargic pace and never manage to engage. The different incidents happen one after the other without any sense of involvement. The narrative moves back and forth between the past and present doesn’t help the cause further. 

The lack of involvement and the story moving from big red herring to the other makes one entirely disconnected from the proceedings. The action blocks make things more tiring than adding some excitement. The interval bang, too, is ordinary, making one sceptical of the second half. 

The fear comes true when the second half commences. But, as the story proceeds and things start to fall into place, the narrative manages to hold attention. The different chapters seen previously concluding one by one bring back the lost attention. 

The real drama and twist in the tale appear during the pre-climax and climax. If one is patient, it will definitely take one by surprise. The question, though, is, can one stay that long? The disengagement makes the movie feel tiring and boring until the final punch arrives. 

Coming to the end and the twist is sure to leave one divided. It is valid for those who haven’t heard about the original or seen it. The ones who watch it for the first time are likely to have divided opinions. 

Overall, Hunt is a thriller cum drama that is boringly executed. It lacks the life to engage one, barring the culmination, which offers an unexpected twist. If you like thrillers and have oodles of patience, give it a try, but have the expectations firmly under check.

Music and Other Departments? Ghibran provides music for the film. Barring an item song, there are no songs in the movie. The ‘item number’ is instantly forgettable making one wonder if it is composed by him. The background score is better, and some moments are neatly done. They give the proper build-up, but the rest feels generic.

Arul Vincent’s cinematography is alright. The editing also could have been better, especially during the first half. There is an uneven feel to the proceedings. The writing is acceptable considering the theme, and the key moments are neatly written.

Craig Zobel ’s “The Hunt” is filled with more memes than plot. The incendiary film, which caused much online handwringing last fall, was eventually shelved after the president weighed in with an uninformed opinion. Almost everybody’s opinion came sight unseen because few eyes had even watched “The Hunt” at all. No matter, after much sound and fury the movie is more of a molehill than a mountain. Betty Gilpin deserves better and so do we. 

The film opens on a bombastic overture and a stiltedly staged group text that will retroactively become important. We are then whisked onto a luxury jet where the liberal rich are feted and random poor conservatives from different parts of the country have been drugged and tucked out-of-sight in the back of the plane. The next scene opens on the kidnapped victims waking up gagged and heading towards a mysterious box in a field, like the cornucopia from “ The Hunger Games .” Once their restraints are off and the shooting begins, the most dangerous game’s afoot. 

It’s easier to single out what I enjoyed about the movie before delving into its messy politics. There are a handful of thrilling, suspenseful sequences like the first shootout in the field and some hand-to-hand combat. Zobel leans into the exploitative possibilities of recreating Richard Connell’s The Most Dangerous Game  for a new audience, including bloody boobytraps, a grenade thrown down a guy’s pants and many, many painful-looking splattery wounds from arrows, knives and bullets. 

Standing tall and stern-faced in the middle of the violent squall is Crystal (Gilpin), the movie’s secret weapon and its saving grace. Hardly any of the other characters on either side of the liberal/conservative divide ever rise above a trite stereotype, and while there’s not too much more depth to Crystal, Gilpin’s performance as a reluctant warrior makes her kind of a hero. She plays Crystal with a tight-lipped and restrained presence, perhaps a holdover from tolerating rotten customers at her car rental agency job. Later, we learn she served in the military, and Gilpin embodies this moving rigidly but quickly, showing that some of her discipline has worn off over the years through a few nervous ticks. Still, her eyes remain on survival and never lets her guard down, like Rambo by way of Mississippi. For those of us who have watched her as Liberty Belle on Netflix’s “Glow,” she’s playing someone completely against type and it’s exhilarating to watch.  

Apart from Gilpin, the movie falls apart. The villains in this story are liberal elites lead by a woman named Athena ( Hilary Swank ) who have a preposterous social media backstory fueled by a conspiracy theory known as Manorgate. It’s one of the many borrowed and tweaked headlines used in “The Hunt,” which despite all its copy and pasting of popular terms and internet slurs, doesn’t add up to anything beyond its superficial violence. Written by Nick Cuse and Damon Lindelof , “The Hunt” proves how “both-siderism” doesn’t always logically pan out. How could a pack of liberals easily upset by the sugar in soda, climate change and gendered language turn to kill for sport? Instead, the movie plays into the conspiracy fears about crisis actors and theories that rich liberal elites are out to kill them, and that is where things get less funny. 

Zobel, Cuse and Lindelof made a movie to own the libs and the conservatives, which might be the most capitalist (or nihilist) attitude towards politics yet. The unoriginality of “The Hunt” extends to its cinematography, which Darran Tiernan paints with one shade of grey and maroon bloodstains, its unremarkable production design by Matthew Munn , and its stereotype-reaffirming wardrobe from costume designer David Tabbert . The movie is both disposable in its inability to say something—anything!—about the current political climate beyond “Oh, it’s dicey out there,” and as a strange cultural artifact of the times. It’s just as likely that this movie would have flown in and out of theaters without much notice were it not for its momentary blip on social media. Perhaps there’s more of a lesson to be learned from “The Hunt” than what happens in “The Hunt.”
