Fiber cable technology transmits data as pulses of light, not electricity, at high frequencies capable of handling large capacities through hair-thin glass or plastic strands with far less electromagnetic interference. They’re also scalable, meaning they can sustain the future speed and capacity growth of the internet itself; copper lines can’t and won’t. Matching the fiber transmission of the internet with a like-designed “last mile” bridge to your residence or office is literally the fastest internet service connection currently possible (ruling out mind-to-mind telekinesis, sci-fi enthusiasts).

Best overall service: Verizon Fios Business

Verizon Fios Business internet is a verified powerhouse that’s built to grow, with reliable customer support to back it up.

Another big advantage of fiber internet that we haven’t yet mentioned is symmetrical download and upload speeds—meaning, if you’re downloading at 100 Mbps, you’re uploading at nearly or exactly 100 Mbps. If your business’s internet needs stop at web-surfing and emailing, this is no big deal. However, if you’re spending hours transferring large files or enduring choppy video conferencing, you’ll be wondering where this glorious symmetry has been all of your life.

Not only are the upload and download speeds for Verizon Fios fiber internet 100% guaranteed, but its upload speeds have also tested even faster by a few points (with the exception of the 940 Mbps plan, which rates “only” 880 Mbps for uploads). For a business moving heavy amounts of data, running cloud-based applications, and accommodating bandwidth for a dozen or more employees, Verizon would be a workhorse; for a smaller shop looking to grow, it might be worth the extra bucks for business continuity as you scale.

Verizon services come with a two-year contract, but you can opt for a no-contract plan if you want to date Verizon before making that big commitment for an extra $5–$15 per month (depending on your plan).

There is, however, a minor downside to Verizon Fios Business internet: it’s not the cheapest service out there. But its above-average customer service reputation and reasonable bundling packages are tempting incentives to pry open the company wallet.

Verizon Fios business internet plans

Data as of 12/9/22. Offers and availability may vary by location and are subject to change. * 1-yr. price guarantee +1 VoIP line for $25/mo. w/ 2-yr agmt. Plus taxes, fees & equip. charges

**New York customers may experience faster speeds than shown.

The not-so-minor downside to Verizon: its Fios service is currently available in only 21 states in the northeastern part of the country—you’re out of luck, flyover-staters and West-Coasters. Verizon is expanding its fiber-optic network, but at the moment, you’ll want to confirm its availability before you set your sights on this provider. But if your business is in the (geographical) position to get it, we recommend you get it. This quick, quality service is tough to beat, even if it costs a little more.

Best for small shops: AT&T Business

With fiber internet, the deciding factors will ultimately come down to pricing and service, and AT&T Business offers some attractive (small) plans.

Data as of 12/9/22. Offers and availability may vary by location and are subject to change. **12-mo.agmt for Internet req'd. Early term fee may apply

Now for the disadvantage of fiber internet: it’s not available everywhere. The rollout of new fiber-optic infrastructures is expensive and slow; depending on where you’re located, you could be waiting a while for the sweet speeds we’ve been dangling in front of you here (sorry).

Fortunately, some companies are filling in the regional fiber network gaps. Whereas Verizon is concentrated in the Northeast, AT&T Business covers the Midwest and the Southeast, as well as a good chunk of the West Coast. Also, some of AT&T’s business plans are slightly less pricey than Verizon’s, and its customer service ratings top even our number one pick, Verizon. 1

For small shops, AT&T’s Business Internet 100 plan (speeds up to 100 Mbps) works well for web usage, sharing files, and allowing Wi-Fi access for employees and customers at $65 a month, and the more substantial Business Internet 300 plan (300 Mbps) offers five times the speed and capacity for just $95. If your business is growing quickly, AT&T’s Business Internet 1000 tier (1,000 Mbps, or 1 Gbps) can handle as many web-active employees and fat files as you can throw at it for $160 a month. Of course, if you don't have a lot of business internet needs, you can settle with the Business Internet 50 plan with speeds at 50 Mbps for $50 a month.

Best customer service: Comcast Business

Starting price (per month) $69.95*

As with its home high-speed services, Comcast’s business reach is wide, with a fiber infrastructure that spans 39 states.

Data as of 12/9/22. Offers and availability may vary by location and are subject to change. *w/ 2-yr. agreement. Regional prices may vary. Actual speeds vary and are not guaranteed.

Comcast Business offers a promising, fast alternative—and it’s likely to be available in your area. No, not the residential cable company—that’s Xfinity . . . which used to be Comcast, hence some confusion. The coaxial-cable residential TV and internet side of Comcast was split off as Xfinity in 2010; today, Comcast Business is a cable and fiber internet service for professionals.

Granted, fiber is not widely offered. It is only offered in 39 states. If you’re located outside of a fiber coverage area we’ve mentioned so far, Comcast Business high-speed cable internet is probably nearby—but this doesn’t mean you’d be “stuck with” an inferior service. To the contrary, Comcast’s customer service ratings are nearly as impressive as Verizon’s (remember, this is the business side; Comcast’s legendarily negative consumer ratings stem from its residential side, now branded as Xfinity).

Comcast also guarantees that their internet connectivity will be up and running 99.998% of the time, a reassuring stat for any small business that depends on reliable internet service.

Offers and services that further strengthen Comcast’s “built for business” case: free installation; a 30-day, money-back guarantee trial period; 24/7 local support; no data caps or throttling; and included Wi-Fi services to cover both employees and customers. In the minus column, there’s a $200 early termination fee should you decide to bail on Comcast Business’s two-year contract, and their packages aren’t exactly priced competitively.

Best budget deal: Frontier Business

Frontier’s contracts are relatively short at 12 months and speeds start at 500 Mbps.

Data as of 4/20/23. Offers and availability may vary by location and are subject to change. †Maximum speeds as fast as 100 Mbps download/upload per month for 12 months with minimum one-year agreement. Installation, Business High-Speed Internet Fee ($5.99/mo.), taxes and other fees apply. Subject to availability

If it seems like we keep coming back to fiber availability, it’s because we keep coming back to fiber availability. Aside from pricing and customer-service ratings, fiber availability is the biggest differentiating factor between these metro ethernet ISPs. That's good news on at least one front for Frontier FiberOptic business internet: It’s among the most inexpensive.

Unfortunately, Frontier’s fiber plans aren’t as widely available as the other providers profiled here, as its residential fiber plans are limited to portions of California, Florida, Indiana, and Texas with plans rolling out in 15 states.

On the plus side, you can add Frontier Internet Backup to your plan—for an additional fee—to keep your business online even during outages.

Frontier Business’ reasonable Fiber 500M plan starts at $54.99 per month, and the plan just above that, Fiber Gig Internet Service, comes in at $89.99 a month. Topping out the plan chain is Frontier's Fiber 2 Gig Internet Service at $129.99 per month. Frustratingly, not every one of them is available even within Frontier’s own service areas.

Wherever you are, you’ll want to research business.frontier.com closely.

Frontier's phone and TV combos aren’t quite as attractively priced as other ISP’s bundles. Also, the company’s 24/7 tech support promise is outweighed by dismal across-the-board customer satisfaction ratings that make Comcast look like the Make-a-Wish Foundation.

Frontier Business internet is definitely a mixed bag, which can be expected of a growing company, but its lowball pricing on symmetrical fiber internet speeds should be enough to make any small business take notice. Just proceed with caution.

Best full-service fiber: CenturyLink Fiber

If you’re in its fiber coverage area, CenturyLink Business offers plenty of speed, stability, and services—though we’d be more impressed if it were as transparent in its pricing as some of its fiber competitors.

Data as of 12/9/22. Offers and availability may vary by location and are subject to change. ‡Speed may not be available in your area. Maximum download/upload speed of up to 940 Mbps via a wired connection. Prepay required. Additional taxes, fees, and surcharges apply

The much-hyped nationwide expansion of Google Fiber may have ground to a quiet halt in 2017, but the threat of competition did at least motivate legacy telecom giants to move up their own fiber timelines. Most notably, CenturyLink has run fiber lines into Arizona, Colorado, Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Utah—areas other fiber internet providers haven’t thoroughly covered yet.

CenturyLink Business fiber plans come in gigabit-size plans with symmetrical upload and download speeds. Prices start at $65 per month, but you’ll have to call to a) see if the package is available in your area and b) find out how much it actually costs in your business’s zip code. On that front, CenturyLink doesn’t exactly make things easy for a business owner who just wants to browse internet options.

What CenturyLink Business does disclose about its fiber plans, however, is worth a look. CenturyLink’s fiber-optic plan doesn’t require you to sign a contract, and it comes fully loaded with Wi-Fi features. And if you want to add VoIP (voice over internet protocol) phone service, CenturyLink will set up an interface that works with your existing analog phone system or install a SIP (session initiation protocol) trunk to integrate all of your office’s digital data needs.

Some businesses may also want to check out CenturyLink’s residential offerings: information on CenturyLink home fiber internet plans is readily available and comes with surprising “price for life” monthly bills (at least at this point in its promotional cycle). CenturyLink Business fiber plans likely don’t come with a “forever” rate, but the company could be more forthcoming so we didn’t have to take our best guess.

The takeaway: Verizon Fios is a business beast—if you can get it

The speed, price, and customer satisfaction that comes with Verizon Fios Business is a persuasive combo for small businesses—any in its eastern service area, that is.

While Verizon is our top pick, it’s not everywhere. But there are at least a couple of viable fiber alternatives across the country, even though the potentially market-transforming fiber singularity of full continental coverage is still a few years away.

Fiber provider FAQ

Not sure of the best numbers for your business? Here’s what to know.

  • 15–50 Mbps: 1 or 2 employees, basic web browsing and email
  • 50–75 Mbps: Up to 5 employees, large-file transfers and point-of-sale transactions
  • 75–150 Mbps: Up to 7 employees, video calls and data backups
  • 150–500 Mbps: 10 or more employees, website hosting and heavy Wi-Fi traffic
  • 500 Mbps–1 Gpbs: All of the employees, all of the above, and then some

We break this down into more detail in our business internet speeds guide.

In most cases, your business is going to need phone service—sometimes TV as well. Bundling these with your gigabit internet service can simplify the billing process and cut down on costs. Verizon, AT&T, Comcast, and Frontier all offer internet, phone, and TV bundles—some better than others.

If customers will be spending any idle time at your business (waiting room, restaurant, bar, etc.), TV service is almost a must. Likewise, some businesses can’t get by without a phone line, even in 2018. However, if your operation is the smallest definition of “small business” (you and maybe one other person) conducting transactions strictly online, don’t bother with a bundle, no matter how cheap they come.

When will fiber arrive in your area? The short answer: “Eventually.” The real answer: “Not soon enough.” Fiber-optic lines are the future, but they still have to navigate the local politics of infrastructure and the provider’s realities of cost—they’re expensive to build out and demand has to be there (which it is, and there's more every year).

If you’re currently running, or starting up, a small business and fiber internet isn’t yet available in your neighborhood, look into coaxial cable or DSL broadband internet , and avoid signing any lengthy contracts. Some high-speed connections are fast and stable enough to sustain a small business, but you don’t want to be locked into it when fiber internet does finally arrive.

Best Vodafone broadband deals in April 2024

Vodafone offers some of the cheapest fibre internet plans around right now

Vodafone broadband deals

  • How to choose
  • Deals comparison

We know what you're thinking – "Since when does Vodafone have broadband deals ?" Well, the popular provider entered the broadband space around seven years ago. Since then, it has also become one of the UK's most popular internet service providers .

Today, Vodafone specialises in providing a range of cheap fibre and Full Fibre broadband deals. Vodafone broadband deals seem to be some of the best around and the company regularly undercuts the prices offered by the likes of Sky and BT. Added to this, the company offers a good range of speeds, including two market-leading FTTC fibre broadband deals as well as a range of rapid FTTP packages.

Today's best Vodafone broadband deals

Vodafone offers a great selection of broadband deals that suit different budgets and requirements. However, the company's most popular is its Full Fibre 2 option, which provides average download speeds of 73Mbps. This currently costs £24 per month when you sign up for a 24-month contract. This means it's one of the cheapest deals on the market for these upgraded speeds.

On top of this, the company also offers two FTTC options that are available in areas that can't access Full Fibre speeds, as well as a selection of very quick FTTP packages,  including deals that offer download speeds of 100Mbps, 200Mbps, 500Mbps and 910Mbps.

At present, Vodafone offers the following packages on its website:

Vodafone Fibre 1 | 38Mbps | £24 per month for 24 months

<a href="https://go.redirectingat.com/?id=92X363&xcust=hawk-custom-tracking&xs=1&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.vodafone.co.uk%2Fbroadband&sref" data-link-merchant="SkimLinks - vodafone.co.uk"" target="_blank"> Vodafone Fibre 1 | 38Mbps | £24 per month for 24 months Fibre 1 is Vodafone's entry-level fibre package. Despite it being the company's most basic, it still provides average download speeds of 38Mbps. So, if you're looking for a broadband plan that's affordable yet quick, this could be a great option. However, Fibre 1 isn't available in Full Fibre areas, so you'll need to check your eligibility with the provider before you sign up.

Vodafone Fibre 2 | 67Mbps | £24 per month for 24 months

<a href="https://www.awin1.com/awclick.php?awinmid=1257&awinaffid=103504&clickref=hawk-custom-tracking&p=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.vodafone.co.uk%2Fbroadband" data-link-merchant="awin1.com"" target="_blank"> Vodafone Fibre 2 | 67Mbps | £24 per month for 24 months If you're looking for something faster, try Vodafone's Fibre 2 package. Again, this option isn't available in Full Fibre areas, but it provides a quick and reliable connection for properties that cannot access full fibre speeds. If you live in a property where multiple people are online simultaneously and you need the internet for work, then the 74Mbps average download speeds are perfect. Plus, at the moment, Fibre 2 costs the same as Fibre 1, so these quicker speeds are effectively free!

Vodafone Full Fibre 2 | 73Mbps | £24 per month for 24 months

<a href="https://www.awin1.com/awclick.php?awinmid=1257&awinaffid=103504&clickref=hawk-custom-tracking&p=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.vodafone.co.uk%2Fbroadband" data-link-merchant="awin1.com"" target="_blank"> Vodafone Full Fibre 2 | 73Mbps | £24 per month for 24 months Full Fibre 2 is Vodafone's entry-level Full Fibre package. It provides average download speeds of 73Mbps and a more reliable FTTP connection. If you live in a Full Fibre area, then this is the slowest package you're able to select. But, even though it's quicker than Fibre 1 and Fibre 2, it's no more expensive!

Vodafone Full Fibre 100 | 100Mbps | £26 per month for 24 months

<a href="https://www.awin1.com/awclick.php?awinmid=1257&awinaffid=103504&clickref=hawk-custom-tracking&p=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.vodafone.co.uk%2Fbroadband" data-link-merchant="awin1.com"" target="_blank"> Vodafone Full Fibre 100 | 100Mbps | £26 per month for 24 months Looking for something faster? Try Vodafone's impressive Full Fibre 100 plan, which offers average download speeds of 100Mbps. If you live in a connected and busy household, this package will likely be best for your needs. Plus, it's only £2 per month more than Full Fibre 2.

Vodafone Full Fibre 200 | 200Mbps | £30 per month for 24 months

<a href="https://www.awin1.com/awclick.php?awinmid=1257&awinaffid=103504&clickref=hawk-custom-tracking&p=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.vodafone.co.uk%2Fbroadband" data-link-merchant="awin1.com"" target="_blank"> Vodafone Full Fibre 200 | 200Mbps | £30 per month for 24 months For £4 more per month, you can double the average download speeds you receive and opt for Vodafone's Full Fibre 200 plan. This allows 8 people to stream without interruption simultaneously. It's also perfect if you have high downloading demands as it allows you to complete a 4.5GB download in only 3 minutes.

Vodafone Full Fibre 500 | 500Mbps | £30 per month for 24 months

<a href="https://www.awin1.com/awclick.php?awinmid=1257&awinaffid=103504&clickref=hawk-custom-tracking&p=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.vodafone.co.uk%2Fbroadband" data-link-merchant="awin1.com"" target="_blank"> Vodafone Full Fibre 500 | 500Mbps | £30 per month for 24 months At the moment, Vodafone's Full Fibre 500 plan is available for the same price as the company's Full Fibre 200 package. This particular deal is one of the company's best and quickest. After all, it allows you to stream, download and browse on 20 devices simultaneously. Plus, with this particular deal, you also get a 250Mbps speed guarantee and Vodafone's innovative WiFi Hub that features 'intelligent WiFi' connectivity.

Vodafone Full Fibre 900 | 910Mbps | £36 per month for 24 months

<a href="https://www.awin1.com/awclick.php?awinmid=1257&awinaffid=103504&clickref=hawk-custom-tracking&p=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.vodafone.co.uk%2Fbroadband" data-link-merchant="awin1.com"" target="_blank"> Vodafone Full Fibre 900 | 910Mbps | £36 per month for 24 months Vodafone's Full Fibre 900 package is the company's quickest and most expensive. However, at £36 per month, it's cheap for the download speeds you receive. We think this particular deal is particularly well suited to content creators and those who are searching for the ultimate in performance.

Vodafone's Xtra and Pro II Packages

Added to this, it's also well worth mentioning that Vodafone also offers a range of Xtra Broadband and Pro II packages, which are available with the tariffs we've mentioned above.

While the Xtra packages provide extras such as Apple TV 4K and unlimited anytime calls to UK landlines and mobiles, the PRO II packages provide an upgraded hub, a Super WiFi 6E booster, automatic 4G broadband back-up and dedicated help from experts.

In addition, it's also well worth logging into your account if you're a Vodafone mobile customer. This is because the company offers a range of discounts for current customers, so your package could be even cheaper than you first thought.

Vodafone broadband deals: add-ons

Can i add call plans to vodafone broadband.

Vodafone has a reputation for chopping and changing its offerings almost constantly.

However, you can currently add the company's Xtra Package to your plan. This costs an extra £14 per month, but it provides you with unlimited anytime calls to UK landlines and mobiles, as well as Apple TV 4K and 24 months of Apple TV+.

Does Vodafone do any broadband and TV deals?

Technically, yes - Vodafone does have a broadband and TV deal. However, you're essentially just adding Apple TV 4K onto your broadband package.

When you take out an Xtra Package, you receive Apple TV 4K plus a 24-month Apple TV+ subscription. This costs you an extra £14 per month.

If you're after a proper TV option with Freeview and the likes, use our broadband and TV deals guide to see the best options today.

How to choose a Vodafone broadband package

Vodafone broadband deals

What kind of speeds do I need?

Vodafone's speeds range from 38Mbps all the way up to a whopping 900Mb+ depending on where you live. Of course, not everyone is going to need the same speeds:

38Mbps: This is Vodafone's lowest speed, but it's also one that will suit a lot of people. It will allow for HD streaming, some light gaming and general working from home.

However, as soon as you start trying to connect lots of smart devices, you will see this plan start to struggle. 67-73Mbps: These are the speeds you'll receive on average with Vodafone's Fibre 2 or Full Fibre 2 plan. It is plenty for most households and offers the ability to stream in HD on multiple devices while smart devices are connected.

In essence, it's enough for most households but may see the occasional bit of lag or issue with more intensive tasks.

74-910Mbps: We're going to lump all of Vodafone's other speeds into one here because for most people, you're not going to need them. These are for the people running businesses from home, gaming a lot, or households with a lot of people in them.

These packages are only available in certain areas and will provide you with massive speeds. Anything in excess of 100Mbps will allow for speedy downloads and high performance even with a host of devices running.

How long will my Vodafone broadband contract last?

Vodafone used to be one of the most flexible internet service providers on the market. However, the company recently changed all of its plans and it now only offers 24-month contracts.

Of course, this is a very long time to be committed to the provider. However, the benefit is that Vodafone's plans are some of the cheapest on the market. If you simply don't want to make such a commitment, it's worth looking at TalkTalk. They rival Vodafone in terms of price but offer shorter contract lengths.

Is the upgrade to Vodafone's Pro II package worth it?

It will be for some, but not for everyone. Vodafone's Pro II package does up the price quite considerably. So, for those trying to stay on a budget, it is best to avoid it.

However, if you're looking for a better-performing broadband plan, the upgrade may be worth your time. This is because you'll get Wi-Fi boosters that will give you better access in all rooms. Plus, if your internet goes down, the hub will automatically switch to 4G internet and you will even get access to dedicated WiFi experts.

If you upgrade further to the Xtra Package, you'll also get Apple TV 4K thrown in, as well as unlimited anytime calls to UK landlines and mobiles.

Vodafone business plans and “device as a service”

Procuring mobile devices for your employees can be complicated, including high acquisition costs, unplanned repair, mobile plan costs, and difficult device management processes.

Fortunately, mobile phone providers such as Vodafone also offer so-called “bundles” of the smartphone combined with a phone plan. This way, customers get both the hardware and the tariff from one hand.

However, in many cases B2B customers have overall more flexibility when opting for a “SIM only” phone plan which is not including the device. Why? These plans can be booked for shorter periods and are often available at lower preices – even when you deduct the monthly subsidy for the phone.

Telecom Expense Management and SIM-only Vodafone plans

Here at Everphone, we focus on providing a hassle-free process with an all-inclusive solution for any business. By renting mobile business devices, Everphone offers the procurement of smartphones, repairs and replacements without any hidden costs. At the same time, your organization will benefit from the opportunity to go for SIM only phone plans , which helps a lot in keeping TEM ( telecom expense management ) costs low. Naturally, we’ll also help you find the business phone plan that is right for you.

Is a corporate cell phone rental plan worth it for you? Find out here and request a brief consultation free of charge!

eSIM for Business Customers

New eSIM technology—embedded in smartphones and tablets—is now available to Vodafone Business Customers. Most flagship devices are now dual SIM, having both an eSIM and a physical SIM, with increasingly more devices adopting it due to its convenience.

I'm not ready to upgrade. Can I move to one of your new Unlimited plans?

Absolutely. You can switch to Unlimited without getting a new contract – and your current contract’s end date will stay the same.

Plus, if you change your mind, you still have 14 days to switch back.

Can I tether multiple devices with my Unlimited plan?

All of our Unlimited data plans can be tethered to additional devices. Your tethered devices will have the same maximum speed as your plan.

Are there any limits to how much data I can use?

No matter what Unlimited plan you choose, you’ll have unlimited data to use in the UK.

Our plans come with different maximum mobile data speeds, to match how you use your data.

Our Unlimited Lite plan has maximum mobile data speeds of 2Mbps, Unlimited has a maximum speed of up to 10Mbps and our Unlimited Max plans let you access our 5G network at full speed.

When taking your plan abroad, your data will cap at 25GB – but you can buy additional data if you need to. See more on using data abroad

Can I change my mind if I’m not happy with the speed of my Unlimited Plan?

Yes. All our Plans come with a 14-day cooling off period, so you can test the speed before you commit.

You can move to another Plan or cancel the contract within 14 days without any hassle. You can also switch to a higher speed Plan without changing the contract end date.

Am I eligible for a business Unlimited Plan?

If you’re a sole trader or small business with up to 50 employees, you’re eligible for one of our Unlimited Plans.

I have a 5G device and plan but I'm not getting 5G speeds

Our Unlimited plans come with different maximum mobile data speeds, to match how you like to use your data.

Our Unlimited Lite plan has mobile data speeds of up to 2Mbps, and Unlimited has speeds of up to 10Mbps. If you choose our Unlimited Max plan, your mobile data speed won't be capped, so maximum speed will be the fastest possible in your area.

Use our Network Status Checker to see if you can get 5G in your area.

Changing your Business Broadband nbn ®  plan Only applies to a change to another Business Broadband nbn ® Plan. Your new plan speed will begin immediately. You will be refunded for the plan fee for the remainder of the month on a pro-rata basis and you will be charged your new Business Broadband nbn ® plan fee calculated on a pro-rata basis for the remainder of the month.

Vodafone Business Broadband nbn ® plans For business use by approved customers only. Subject to service qualification check. Vodafone Business Broadband nbn ® is a data-only service and is not compatible with your phone line service meaning you may no longer be able to use your landline (or existing phone number) for calls after you sign-up. Vodafone Business Broadband nbn ® service may also impact or interfere with existing technology, devices or services at your premises including medical devices, alarms, eftpos machines, lift emergency phones and some email or fax services. You cannot share the data between your Vodafone Business Broadband nbn ® plan and your Vodafone postpaid mobile plan and vice versa. You can find out which plans support sharing at any time by calling 1555. Additional fees may apply for nbn ® installation or appointments.

The total maximum cost of the NetComm Wireless NL20MESH Modem is $192. There is no option to purchase the Modem outright or on a monthly payment plan other than on a 24 month plan. The Modem cost equates to $8.00 per month (‘Undiscounted Price’) over 24 months or $0 per month (‘Discounted Price’) if you stay connected for 24 months (‘Device Period’). The Discounted Price will appear as a credit on your monthly bill. If you choose to cancel your plan before the end of the Device Period you will need to pay the full Undiscounted Price x months remaining on Device Period. For example, if you leave at month 18 you would pay $8.00 x 6 (number of remaining months), at a total of $48. This remaining Modem cost will be applied as a lump sum on your final bill. You must connect for a minimum of one month. Recurring monthly plan fees are charged until the end of the month in which you notify that you wish to cancel. You will be charged for using your plan from the point of nbn ® activation at your premises.

Total minimum cost excludes any additional nbn charges, including but not limited to call out charges when there is a missed appointment or where no fault is found or the $300 New Development Charge that is triggered when you connect a nbn service in a new premises.

Any promotional offer referencing bundling of Vodafone Business Broadband with postpaid mobile plans excludes Mobile Broadband plans. You don’t have to bundle this service. However, in order to receive the Existing Postpaid Mobile Customer Price for this plan, you will need to have an existing Postpaid Mobile service on the same account and remain connected to both services, otherwise you will be charged the Standalone Price. To receive the Existing Postpaid Mobile Customer Price your Postpaid Mobile plan and this nbn ® plan must have the same billing name and billing address. If you cancel your Postpaid Mobile plan or this nbn ® plan the discount will be forfeited and you will pay the Standalone Price.

Internet speeds on Vodafone Business Broadband nbn ® plans are variable and you will typically experience much slower speeds than the maximum connection speed available on your plan. The Vodafone Business Broadband nbn ® Superfast and Vodafone Business Broadband nbn ® Ultrafast plans are only available in nbn FTTP areas and selected nbn HFC areas. For FTTB/FTTN/FTTC customers, if after connection your plan is not supported by the maximum attainable speed available then we will contact you with more information and provide other options. Typical Busy Hours Speed is the typical busy period download speed that the average customer can expect to receive between 9am and 5pm, Mon - Fri. It is not a guaranteed minimum speed and you may experience lower speeds during this period. The actual speeds you experience will vary on a number of factors such as the nbn ® technology used to deliver your service, plan choice, location, internet traffic demand, our network, line condition, the number of devices connected to your network, modem type and positioning, Wi-Fi performance, in-building wiring, and the content you access. Please refer to our Speed Guide for more information.

Total minimum cost explained

This is a month to month plan, so you can leave us any time. Please see below the breakdown of how we calculate your total minimum cost, which is one month plan cost and the total cost of the modem. The new customer column shows the full price of the plan and the current customer column shows the cost after the current customer discount, and may include other discounts you’re eligible for in the first month.

The modem is $0 when you stay connected for 24 months. We cover the monthly charge ($8.00 per month) for each month you stay connected. If you leave early you’ll need to pay $8.00/mth for each remaining month.

Factors that affect the speed of nbn ®

Speed tier of your plan The speed tier of your plan is like a speed limit. For example, if your plan uses nbn ® 25, your maximum download speed will be 25Mbps – even if your internet could potentially reach higher speeds. It’s important to note that various factors affect your internet speed. Because of this, you may not always receive the maximum speed available on your plan.

Your nbn ® connection There may be a maximum line speed for the nbn ® connection at your premises. This could be due to your nbn ® technology type or other factors, such as the condition of the wiring in your building.

For customers with HFC/FW/FTTP/FTTB/FTTN/FTTC technology, we’ll undertake a speed check after your service is activated. If your maximum line speed doesn’t support the speed tier of the plan you’ve chosen, we’ll let you know. We may change your plan to one that’s more suitable, so you’re not paying more for speeds you can’t achieve.

Typical Busy Speed This is the typical busy period download speed between 9am to 5pm for business customers. This is not a guaranteed minimum speed and you may experience lower speeds during this period due to the factors discussed on this page.

Content that you access Driving somewhere that’s far away takes longer compared to somewhere that’s close. Similarly, downloading content from overseas takes longer than downloading local content. Also, you may experience slower speeds if you’re trying to access content that’s affected by congestion. This typically happens when a lot of people are trying to access the same site.

Peak hours for internet usage We constantly monitor the speeds of Vodafone nbn ® to try and optimise the experience for our customers. However, when a lot of people are online at the same time, your internet speeds can be impacted. It’s similar to traffic during peak hour on a busy road, except that the peak time for internet use for business customers is usually between 9am to 5pm.

Our network capacity Think of the nbn ® as a highway, with each provider having a certain number of lanes that customers can use. When you drive on a highway in peak hour, you’re less likely to be stuck in traffic if there are more lanes. Similarly, the more network capacity your provider buys from nbn co, the faster your internet speeds will be during peak hours. We’re constantly monitoring the speeds of Vodafone nbn ® to try and optimise the experience for our customers.

Number of devices connected If you use the internet on a single device, it can access all of your bandwidth. But when multiple devices use your internet at the same time, your bandwidth is shared between them. This may feel like you’re experiencing slower speeds, even though it’s really the effect of reduced bandwidth for each device.

Modem type The quality of your modem will impact your speeds, as not all modems are the same. All plans come with the NetComm Wireless NL20MESH modem to maximise the performance of your nbn ® service.

Modems used on ADSL may not work with Vodafone nbn ® , and modems made before 2009 may struggle to reach higher speeds.

Wi-Fi performance Wi-Fi performance can be impacted by multiple people using the same Wi-Fi network, physical obstacles or interference from surrounding devices.

The NetComm Wireless NL20MESH modem comes with a 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi frequency. Generally, the 5Ghz frequency can give you faster speeds at a shorter distance, while 2.4GHz offers more range but may have slower speeds.

Here’s a description of the nbn ® techonology types

nbn ® Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) A Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) connection comprises of a fibre optic line running to your house from the closest available fibre node. To get an FTTP connection at your house, you may need in-home cabling and be required to install multiple devices both inside and outside your home, such as an nbn ® utility box, nbn ® connection box or Power Supply unit.

nbn ® Fibre to the Building (FTTB) Apartment blocks and similar buildings will typically use a Fibre to the Building (FTTB) connection, which involves a fibre optic line to the fibre node in a building’s communications room, usually housed within a secure cabinet. With FTTB connections, apartments are connected to nbn ® via existing technology within the building.

nbn ® Hybrid Fibre Coaxial (HFC) With a Hybrid Fibre Coaxial (HFC) connection, the final part of the nbn ® access network connection is made with an existing cable or ‘pay TV’ network. Your premises will be connected to the nearest available fibre node via a HFC line. An approved nbn ® installer or service provider will need to install an nbn ® access network device where this line enters into your home.

nbn ® Fibre to the Curb (FTTC) A Fibre to the Curb (FTTC) connection occurs when fibre is extended close to your home via a small Distribution Point Unit (DPU). A DPU is usually located within a pit on the street, from which fibre is then connected to the existing copper network. An FTTC connection requires a connection box inside your premises to ensure your service is powered with electricity and that you have a connection to the nbn ® broadband access network. You may be able to install your own connection box in some cases.

nbn ® Fibre to the Node (FTTN) A connection between a nearby fibre node and existing copper phone and internet network is referred to as a Fibre to the Node (FTTN) connection. The existing network will form the final part of the connection to the nbn ® . With this type of connection, the fibre node is usually a street cabinet. The nbn ® access network signal will travel between the exchange to the cabinet and then through the existing copper network to your residence.
