पोपट पक्षी निबंध .

पोपटाच्या हिरव्या रंगाबद्दल एक अख्यायिका आहे, देवाने पोपटाला हिरवा रंग दिला यामागचे कारण म्हणजे, पूर्वीच्या काळी कुठल्याही पक्षाला रंग नव्हता, सगळे पक्षी रंगहीन होते .त्यामुळे शिकारी जंगलात यायचे आणि पक्ष्यांची शिकार करून घेऊन जायचे. त्यावेळी सर्व पक्ष्यांनी गणपती बाप्पाकडे विनंती केली. गणपती बाप्पांनी ठरवलं की सगळ्या पक्षांना रंग द्यायचा.

त्यांनतर गणपती बाप्पांनी सर्व प्रथम पोपटालाच विचारले, पोपट पण हुशार त्यानं बापाला सांगितलं की मी हिरव्या हिरव्या झाडावर राहतो त्यामुळं मला हिरव शरीर आणि चोच फक्त लाला दे. कारण शिकारी शिकार करायला आला तरी हिरव्या झाडीतून पोपट शिकारीला दिसणार नाही या हेतूने पोपटाने हिरवा रंग मागून घेतला.

पोपट हा खूप हुशार पक्षी आहे. तो माणसाच्या आवाजाची नक्कल सुद्धा करू शकतोय. काही लोक पोपटाला कसरती सुद्धा करायला शिकवतात. पोपट हा सर्कशी मध्ये सुद्धा उपयोगी ठरतो. जगात 350 हुन अधिक पोपटाच्या प्रजाती आहेत. पोपटाच्या बऱ्याच प्रजातींमध्ये नर आणि मादी सारखेच दिसतात. त्यांच्यातील फरक ओळखण्यासाठी रक्ताची चाचणी केली जाते. पोपट फळे, फळांच्या बिया, दाणे, झाडाची पाने, शिजलेला भात सुद्धा खातो. पोपटाला आंबा , पेरू अशी फळे आवडतात.पेरू आणि मिरची पोपटाला खूप आवडते.

पोपट हा निसर्गानं दिलेल निसर्गाचे सौंदर्य आहे. निसर्गाने दिलेली देणगी आहे. पोपट हा पक्षी भारतात सगळीकडे पाहायला मिळतो. राघू, मिठू, मैना या नावाने पोपटाला ओळखले जाते. भारताशिवाय इतर अनेक देशांमध्ये सुद्धा पोपट पाहायला मिळतो. औस्ट्रेलिया, नेपाळ, भूतान, श्रीलंका या देशांमध्ये पोपट पाहायला मिळतो. जगभरात निळ्या, पांढऱ्या, गुलाबी, पिवळा, लाल, अश्या विविध रंगातील पोपट आपल्याला पाहायला मिळतात. परंतु मुख्य म्हणजे भारतात हिरव्या रंगाचा पोपट पाहायला मिळतो.

साधरणता 110 ग्रॅम पोपटाचे वजन भरते, 16 ते 35 सेमी अशी पोपटाची शेपटीपासून ते डोक्यापर्यंतची उंची असते. 8 ते 40 वर्ष हा पोपटाचा जीवनकाळ असतो. पोपटाची मादी एका वेळी चार ते सहा अंडी घालते. काही लोक हौसेने पोपटाला आपल्या घरात पिंजऱ्यात ठेवतात. पोपटाच्या सुरक्षेसाठी सरकारने राष्ट्रीय उद्यानाची स्थापना केली आहे.

जी माणसे पोपटाला घरच्या पिंजऱ्यात ठेवतात पण असे करू नये त्याऐवजी त्याला मनमोकळं फिरू द्या, आकाशात मस्त विहार करू द्या ,मनमोकळं श्वास घेऊ द्या, कारण त्यालाही आपल्यासारखे स्वातंत्र्य आहे. त्याला आकाशात उडायच असेल तर आपण का त्याला बंदिस्त करून त्याचे स्वातंत्र्य हिसकावून घ्यायचं???? त्यामुळं कुठल्याही पक्ष्याला मनमोकळं जगू द्या त्याला घरच्या पिंजऱ्यात डांबून ठेऊ नका.

पक्षी हे निसर्गाचे लेणे आहे .पक्षी निसर्गाची शोभा वाढवतात, त्यामुळं त्यांना निसर्गाच्या सानिध्यातच राहू आणि वाढू दिले पाहिजेत. आपल्याला  पक्षांच्या सौंदर्याचे कौतुक केले पाहिजे. त्यांना घराच्या पिंजऱ्यात बंदिस्त करून मारून टाकण्यापेक्षा मनमोकळं जगायला देऊन त्यांचं आयुष्य वाढवायला पाहिजेत…..पक्षी आकाशात विहार करत असताना आकाशाची शोभा वाढवत असतात. त्यामुळं त्यांना विहार करायला मोकळेपणा दिला पाहिजेत..

मनुष्य आपल्या जीवनासाठी जंगलतोड वृक्षतोड करत आहेत. त्यामुळे पोपट तसेच निसर्गातील सर्व पक्ष्यांचे जीवन धोक्यात आले आहे. आपल्याला ह्या मनुष्याच्या स्वार्थी विकृतिना आळा घालायला हवा नाहीतर अन्य काळा नंतर ते आपणास पाहायला सुद्धा मिळणार नाहीत…

लोरिक्युलस व्हरनँलिस हे भारतात आढळणाऱ्या पोपटाचे शास्त्रीय नाव आहे. त्याला कातरा ह्या नावाने सुध्दा संबोधले जाते. १४ सेमी त्याची लांबी असून तो चिमणीच्या आकाराएवढा असतो. पक्षीवर्गाच्या शुकगणात पोपट पक्ष्यांचा समावेश केला जातो. पोपटाच्या आकारमानावरून त्यांचे वर्गीकरण लहान पोपट आणि मोठा पोपट अस केलं आहे. शुकगणात ७६ प्रजाती आणि ६७२जाती आहेत.

ज्या पोपटाची शेपटी आखूड असते त्यांना लांडा पोपट असेही म्हंटले जाते. तो त्याच्या हिरव्या रंगामुळं झाडावर बसला कि ओळखता येत नाही. तो जावा झाडावरून उडून जातो तेंव्हा तो दिसतो. बऱ्यापैकी नराच्या गळ्याजवळ निळ्या रंगाचा डाग असतो. पण मादीच्या गळ्याजवळ नसतो. पायांचा रंग पिवळसर किंवा फिकट नारंगी ते लाल असतात.

लहान पोपटाची एक वैशिष्ट्य म्हणजे तो कधी मोठ्या थव्याने वावरत नाही. तो नेहमी एकटा फिरतो. लहान पोपटाला झाडाच्या फांदीला उलटे लटकून फळे खायला आवडते. अजून एक वैशिष्ट्य म्हणजे तो झाडाला टांगलेल्या मडक्यातील ताडी पितो. तसेच तो रात्री झोपताना सुद्धा झाडाच्या फांदीला उलटे टांगून घेऊन झोपतो. जानेवारीपासून ते एप्रिलपर्यंत हा त्यांचा खास करून प्रजनन काळ असतोय.

झाडाच्या खोडावर त्यांचे घरटे ते तयार करतात,तयार केलेल्या घरट्यात तीन अंडी घालते. अंड्याचा आकार लहान आणि रंग पांढरा असतोय. मोठ्या पोपटाची लांबी हि साधारणपणे २० ते १०० सेमी असते. जगात ते सर्वत्र पाहायला मिळतात.

त्यांच्या विविध जाती आणि प्रकार आपण दक्षिण अमेरिका आणि औस्ट्रेलिया ह्या देशामध्ये पाहू शकतो. पोपटाचे साधारणतः तीन भागात विभाजन केले आहे. डोके, मान आणि धड. चोचीचे वैशिष्ट्य म्हणजे ती आखूड, मजबूत आणि बाकदार असते.

वरच्या चोचीच्या भाग हा कवटीला जुळलेला असतो. त्यांची मान छोटी असते. धडावर पंखांची लोळण असते. त्यांच्या बोटांवर नख्या असतात त्याच्या साहाय्याने पोपट झाडावर सहज चढू शकतात.

पोपट हा पक्षी पूर्णपणे शाकाहारी आहे. पोपट हे फळे खाण्यापेक्षा फळांचं नुकसान जास्त करतात. पोपट हे जोडीने फिरताना दिसतात. त्यात राघू मैना हि जोडी खूप ऐकायला भेटते. भारतात आपल्याला मोठ्या पोपटांच्या १३ जाती पाहायला मिळतात. यापैकी फक्त चार जाती आपल्याला सगळीकडे पाहायला मिळतात. पोपाटांच्या काही जातीं खालीलप्रमाणे:

रेनबोव पोपट

हा पक्षी खूप आकर्षक असतो. तो वेगवेगळ्या रंगानी नटलेला असतो.ह्या पक्ष्याला पाळले जाते. ह्यांची लांबी २७-३० सेमी असते. शेपूट १०इंच असते. हे पोपट मूळचे ऑस्ट्रेलियाचे आहेत. झाडाच्या फांद्यावर घरटी बनवून वास्तव्य करतात. हे पक्षी अमृत फळे खातात. पक्ष्याचा आयुष्यकाळ १६-२० असतो.

आफ्रिकन ग्रे पोपट 

कॉगो आफ्रिकन ग्रे पोपट ह्या नावाने ओळखले जाणारे हे पोपट मूळचा आफ्रिकेमध्ये आहे. ह्या पक्ष्याचा रंग राखाडी असतो. ह्या पोपटाची चोच काळी असते. ३३सेमी लांबी असलेल्या ह्या पक्ष्याचे वजन ४०० ग्रॅम असते. हे पोपट बेरी , बिया खातात. जर ह्यांना पिंजऱ्यामध्ये ठेवले तर आयुष्य ४०-५०वर्ष असते. आणि जंगलामध्ये २१-२३ वर्ष असते.

ह्या जातीच्या पक्ष्यांमध्ये वेगवेगळे शेड असतात. जसे काळा, पिवळा, हिरवा, नारंगी, पांढरा त्यामुळं ह्या पक्ष्याकडे पहिले कि आपल्या तिरंग्याची आठवण होते. ब्लॅक हेडेड ह्या नावाने ओळखला जाणाऱ्या ह्या पक्ष्याच्या डोक्यावर फक्त काळा रंग असतो. हे पक्षी मूलतः ब्राझील मध्ये आढळतात. हे पक्षी फुले,फळे खातात.ह्यांचा आयुष्यकाळ ४०असतो.

रोज रिंगन्ड पोपट 

फिकट हिरव्या रंगाचा आणि लाल चोच असलेला हा पोपट भारतात सगळीकडे आढळतो. ह्याच्या मानेभोवती काळ्या रंगाचे वर्तुळ असल्यामुळे त्याला रिंग नेक्ड पोपट असेही म्हणतात. हे पक्षी मूलतः आशिया आणि आफ्रिका मधील आहेत. ह्यांचा आयुष्यकाळ १५-२० असतो.

ब्लु- यल्लो मकाव 

ब्लु -गोल्ड मकाव ह्या नावाने ओळखला जाणारा हा पक्षी दक्षिण अमेरिकेमध्ये आढळतो. आकाराने मोठा असणारा हा पक्षी निळ्या, पिवळ्या आणि हिरव्या अश्या तीन रंगाचा असतो. ८५ सेमी लांबी असून वजन १.५ किलो असते. ह्याची मूळ जात दक्षिण अमेरिकेतील आहे. हे पक्षी बिया खातात. हे पक्षी ३१-३५वर्ष जगू शकतात.

अमेझॉन पोपट 

हे पोपट आकाराने लहान असतात. ह्यांचे शरीर पूर्णपणे हिरव्या रंगाचे असते. १०-१२ सेमी लांबी असलेले हे पक्षी दिसायला खूप छान असतात. हे पक्षी मेक्सिको मध्ये आढळतात. हे पक्षी वनस्पतीची कोवळी पाने खातात. ह्यांचा कालावधी ४०-५० वर्ष असतो.

पांढरा, गुलाबी, राखाडी असा रंग असलेला हा पक्षी दिसायला खूप विलक्षण दिसतो. ब्रिस्टेड पोपट ह्या नावाने ओळखल्या जाणाऱ्या पोपाटाची  लांबी ३५ सेमी असते. हे पक्षी ऑस्ट्रेलिया मधील आहेत. हे पक्षी सवाना मध्ये राहतात. फळांच्या बिया खातात. ३५-४०वर्ष हे जगू शकतात.

बडगेरीर पोपट 

हे पक्षी दिसायला खूप आकर्षित असतात. आकाराने खूप लहान असतात. शेल पोपट ह्या नावाने ओळखल्या जाणाऱ्या ह्या पोपाटची लांबी १८सेमी असते. ह्या पोपटाची जात मूलतः ऑस्ट्रेलिया मध्ये आहे. हे पोपट फळे खातात.

पोपटांचा वापर 

पोपट हे मूलतः बुद्धिमान आणि चतुर असतात. त्यांचा पिसारा आणि कलाबाजी लोकांना आकर्षित करते. ते वॉचबर्ड म्हणून ओळखले जाणारे हे पक्षी लोकांना खूप मोहक बनवतात. 2007 मध्ये मरण पावलेला आफ्रिकन ग्रे पोपट अॅलेक्स ह्याचे सर्वात प्रसिद्ध उदाहरण आहे .

पोपटाचा अधिवास 

पोपट ह्या पक्ष्याला उष्ण भाग आणि उष्ण कटिबंधात राहायला आवडते.पोपट हे झाडीचा प्रदेश,पाम वनांचा प्रदेश,सवाना,वाळवंटातील कडा इथं आढळतात.

पोपट ह्या पक्ष्याच्या कुळात ८२ वंश आणि ३१६ जाती आहेत. मॅको, लॉरी, काकाकुवा इत्यादींचा समावेश होतो. दीड कोटी वर्षापूर्वीचे जे जिवाष्म सापडले त्यांना शिळारूप अवशेष म्हणतात. हे पक्षी पिकांची व फळांची नासाडी करत असल्यामुळं त्यांची हत्या केली जाते त्यामुळे त्यांच्या खूप जाती नामशेष झाल्या आहेत. मॅस्क्रीन बेटावर आज एकही पोपट शिल्लक नाही. पोपट विसाव्या शतकात काही अंशी लोप पावला आहे. भारतात पोपटांच्या पाचसहा जाती आहेत. त्यातील काही जाती खालीलप्रमाणे आहेत:

सिटँक्युला यूपँटीया ह्या शास्त्रीय नावाने ओळखला जाणारा हा राघू त्याची लांबी ५० सेमी असते. त्याचा आकार हा कबुतराएवढा असतो. तो सामान्यतः शेते , बागा ईथ आढळतो. शरीराचा वरचा भाग गवती हिरवा असतो. खालच्या बाजूला फिकट हिरवा असतो. पंखावर लाल तपकिरी डाग असतो. तो दिसायला आकर्षक दिसतो. तो माणसाच्या आवाजाची नक्कल करू शकतो.

ह्याचे शास्त्रीय नाव सिटँक्युला क्रँमरी आहे. हा राघूपेक्षा लहान असतो. आणि साळुंकीपेक्षा मोठा असतो. हिरव्या पंखावर निळसर झाक असते. गुलाबी रंगाचा गळपट्टा असतो. पिसांवर आकाशी निळसर रंगाचा उभा पट्टा असतो. फळे खाताना किक आवाज करतात. त्यांना शिकवणी देऊन त्यांचा वापर सर्कशीत केला जातो.

लालडोकी पोपट 

सिटँक्युला सायनोसेफेला हे त्याचे शास्त्रीय नाव आहे. त्याची लांबी ३७सेमी असते. तो साळुंकीएवढा असतो. मानेभोवती काळे वलय असते. डोक्याचा रंग बऱ्यापैकी निळा असतो. हवेत उडताना टु ँ टुँ ँइ असा आवाज करतो त्यामुळं त्याला टो ँ इ पोपट म्हणतात.

निलपंखी पोपट 

सिटँक्युला कोलुबॉयडसेस हे ह्या पोपटाचे शास्त्रीय नाव आहे. ३८सेमी लांबी असून शेपटी हि लांब आणि निळी असते. पंखाचा रंग निळसर हिरवा असतो. नराची चोच लाल असते. नराच्या व मादीच्या गळ्याच्या कडेने काळा कंठ असतो. हा पोपट दिसायला खूप आकर्षक असतो. हे पक्षि चिचिवीsss असा कर्कश आवाज करतात. त्यामुळं हा पक्षी कमीतकमी पाळाला जातो.

असा हा पोपट पक्षी मला खूप आवडतो.

माझा आवडता पक्षी पोपट मराठी निबंध Essay on My Favorite Bird Parrot in Marathi: जगात विविध प्रकारचे पक्षी आहेत. प्रत्येक पक्ष्याची स्वतःची वैशिष्ट्ये आहेत. मोराला रंगीबेरंगी पंख असतात, कोकिळाला गोड, मधुर बोली असते, कावळ्याला हुशारी असते, घार आणि गरुड सामर्थ्यवान आहे. सुंदर, पांढरा हंस शहाणपणा आणि न्यायाचे प्रतीक आहे. अशाप्रकारे, प्रत्येक पक्षीकडे काहींना-काही विशेतता असते, परंतु मला सर्व पक्ष्यांमधील पोपट आवडतो.

स्वरुप आणि स्वभाव

निसर्गाने पोपटांमध्ये शहाणपणा भरभरून भरला आहे. त्याला काहीही शिकवले तेव्हा तो पटकन शिकतो. आजीबरोबर तो राम-राम बोलतो, मुलांसमवेत इंग्रजी बोलतो, पाय उंचावून तो आजोबांना अभिवादन करतो. तो कोणतीही भाषा शिकू आणि बोलू शकतो. त्याची बोलीसुद्धा खूप गोड आहे.

पाहुणे घरी आल्यावर त्यांचे स्वागत करण्यास पोपट कधीही विसरत नाही. तो ‘ये’ असे म्हणत परिचित पाहुण्यांचे स्वागत करतो. त्याच्या तोंडून ‘नमस्ते’, ‘स्वागत’ किंवा ‘वेल-कम’ ऐकून पाहुणेसुद्धा खाली उतरून येतात. तेसुद्धा त्याच्यावर प्रेम केल्याशिवाय राहत नाहीत. त्यांनी त्याचे खूप कौतुक केले.

प्राचीन काळापासून पोपट हा लोकांचा आवडता पक्षी आहे. ऋषि-मुनी त्याला आपल्या आश्रमात वाढवत असत. राजवाड्यांमध्ये छंदाने त्यांचे पालनपोषण केले जात होते. असे म्हटले जाते की पं. मंडन मिश्रा यांच्या घरी पोपट आणि मैना आपापसात संस्कृतमध्ये वाद घालत असत!

एकदा मी जत्रेत गेलो होतो. तिथून मी एक पोपट विकत घेतला. आज तो माझा प्रिय मित्र झाला आहे. मी त्याला ‘आत्माराम’ म्हणतो. देवाची सुंदर मूर्ती पाहिल्यावर ज्याप्रमाणे एखाद्या भक्ताला आनंद होतो, त्याचप्रमाणे आत्मारामच्या पिंजऱ्याजवळ बसून मला आनंद होतो. आत्मारामला पाहून माझ्या मनाला मोठा आनंद होतो.

माझा बालपणापासूनचा मित्र – म्हणजे माझा हिरवा मित्र! म्हणजे पोपट! आमच्या घरी बऱ्याच वर्षापासून पोपट सांभाळलेला आहे. स्वत:च्या पिंजऱ्यातील दांडीवर बसून तो सर्वांना हाका मारतो. घरातील सर्व माणसेही येता-जाता त्याला ‘राघू म्हणून साद घालतात.

पोपटाचा हिरवा रंग व लाल चोच मला फार आवडते. आमचा राघू प्रेमळ आहे. त्याच्या पिंजऱ्यात हात घातला, तरी तो इजा करत नाही. मी त्याला पेरूची फोड किंवा लाल मिरची देतो. तो ती अलगद उचलतो. राघूला आजोबांनी ‘विठ्ठल विठ्ठल’ असे म्हणायला शिकवले आहे. त्यामुळे तो कोणाचेही स्वागत ‘विठ्ठल विठ्ठल’ म्हणूनच करतो.

आमच्या घरात राघू कित्येक वेळा मोकळा फिरत असतो. घरातील कोणाच्याही खांदयावर तो बसतो. त्याला दिलेली ओली डाळ तो आवडीने खातो आणि मनात आले की, आपणच स्वत: पिंजऱ्यात जाऊन बसतो. रात्री मात्र आम्ही त्याचा पिंजरा आठवणीने बंद करतो.

माझा आवडता पक्षी : पोपट

          आपल्या देशामध्ये विविध प्रकारचे पक्षी आढळतात. प्रत्येक पक्षाचे स्वतःचे असे खास वैशिष्ट असते. मोराकडे त्याचा रंगीबेरंगी पिसारा आहे. कोकिळेचा आवाजाला गोडवा आणि एक छान सूर आहे. कावळ्याचा आपण विचार केला तर त्याच्याकडे चतुराई हा एक गुण आहे. गरुड आणि नीलकंठ पक्षांकडे स्वतःची अशी काही न काही खास वैशिष्ट्ये आहेत. सुंदर आणि पांढऱ्या रंगाचा दिसणारा हंस हा पक्षी बुद्धी आणि विवेक या गुणांचे प्रतिक आहे. परंतु या सर्व पक्षांमध्ये मला पोपट हा पक्षी खूप आवडतो.

          पोपटाचा हिरवा रंग, लाल रंगाची चोच आणि कंठाजवळ काळ्या रंगाची पट्टी आणि सुंदर कोमल पंख माझ्या मनाला मोहून टाकतात. असेही जगात कितीतरी प्रकारचे पोपट आपल्याला पाहायला मिळतात. काही पोपट खूप सुंदर असतात त्यांच्या सौंदर्याने ते मनाला मोहून टाकतात. पक्षीसंग्रहालयात तर पोपटांच्या विविध जाती आपल्याला पाहायला मिळतात.

          पोपटाला पाळणे खूप सोपे आहे. पोपट पेरू, मिरची आणि इतर फळे खूप आवडीने खातो. पोपट हा असा पक्षी आहे कि तो आपल्या परिवारात सहजतेने मिसळून जातो. आणि आपल्याला परिवाराचा एक भाग बनून जातो.

          पोपट हा खुप समजूतदार पक्षी आहे. त्याला जर आपण कोणती गोष्ट शिकवली तर तो ती लगेच शिकतो. आजीसोबत तो ‘राम राम’ बोलतो. लहान मुले त्याला ‘मिठ्ठू’ म्हणून हाक मारून बोलवतात, त्या लहान मुलांचे ऐकून तो सुद्धा मिठ्ठू मिठ्ठू म्हणू लागतो. तो आपला एक पाय वर उचलून नमस्कार सुद्धा करतो.

          पोपट हा आपल्या देशामध्ये अगदी प्राचीन काळापासूनच   एक लोकप्रिय पक्षी आहे. पूर्वी पोपटाला हृषी मुनींच्या आश्रमांमध्ये आणि तपोवनामध्ये सुद्धा पाळले जात असे. राजे - महाराजांच्या   राज दरबारामध्ये पोपटाला सोन्याच्या पिंजऱ्या मध्ये ठेवले जात असे.

          पोपट हा मोकळ्या आकाशामध्ये फिरणारा पक्षी आहे. पोपटाला आपण एका बंद पिंजऱ्या मध्ये ठेवतो हे त्याला फारसे आवडत नाही. हीच गोष्ट अनेक कवी आणि लेखकांनी सांगितली आहे. पण पोपटाची सुंदरता आणि त्याच्या बुद्धिमत्तेमुळे लोक त्याला पाळतात आणि एका पिंजऱ्यात बंद करून ठेवतात.

          असा सुंदर, समजूतदार आणि गोड गोड बोलणारा पोपट हा म्हणूनच माझा आवडता पक्षी आहे.

पोपट हा पक्षी दिसायला अधिक सुंदर आहे, त्याचे शरीर त्याची लाल चोच माणसाला त्याच्याकडे पटकन आकर्षित करते पोपट हा रंगबिरंगी असल्यामुळे तो प्रत्येकाला आवडतो. पोपटाचे शरीर अतिशय सुंदर आहे. ऑस्ट्रेलियासारख्या आणि दक्षिण अमेरिका सारख्या देशात त्याच्या अनेक जाती आढळतात.

पोपटाचा रंग हा हिरवा आहे व त्याची चोच लाल रंगाची आहे. लहान मुलांपासून ते मोठ्या माणसांपर्यंत तो सर्वांना आवडतो. पोपट सुंदर असल्यामुळे तो पाळीव पक्षी म्हणून पाळला जाऊ लागला आहे, म्हणून तो काही पक्षी प्रेमिकांच्या घरामध्ये पिंजऱ्यामध्ये आढळतो. पोपट पक्षी झाडांच्या ढोलीत राहायला पसंत करतो.

उंच झुपकेदार जास्त पाने असलेल्या झाडावर त्याला रहायला आवडते. पोपटाचे मिठू मिठू बोलणे सर्वांना फार आवडते. पोपट अनेक प्रकारची गोड फळे खातो. पोपटाच्या आवडीचे फळ प्रामुख्याने कवठाचे फळ, आंबा, आणि पेरु हि आहेत. पोपट इतर पक्षांप्रमाणे दाने, बिया डाळिंब इत्यादी सुद्धा खातो. पोपट पक्षी साधारणपणे चाळीस वर्षापर्यंत जगतात.

पोपट हा पक्षी समूहाने राहतो आणि आकाशामध्ये समूहाने विहार करतो. लहान मुलांना ज्याप्रमाणे बोलायला शिकवले जाते त्याप्रमाणे पोपटाला सुद्धा घरामध्ये पाहुणे आल्यावर किंवा एखादा अनोळखी व्यक्ती आल्यास त्याला रामराम, नमस्ते असे शिष्टाचार सुद्धा शिकवले जातात. दारोदारी फिरणारे भविष्य सांगणारे लोक लोकांचे भविष्य सांगण्यासाठी पोपटाला पिंजऱ्या मध्ये अडकवुन फिरतात.

लोकांचे भविष्य सांगण्यासाठी पोपटाचा उपयोग करतात. पोपट पक्षी जंगलाची शोभा वाढवणारा पक्षी आहे. पोपटाचा रंग हिरवा असल्यामुळे तो झाडांच्या झुपकेदार पानांमधून सहजासहजी दिसून येत नाही. जंगलामध्ये पोपटाला पकडण्यासाठी लोक खूप प्रयत्न करतात. कारण तो घराची शोभा वाढवणारा पक्षी आहे. पोपट पक्षी घरामध्ये येणाऱ्या पाहुण्यांचे नमस्ते, राम राम म्हणून छान प्रकारे स्वागत करतो.

पोपट मिठू मिठू बोलतो म्हणून तो सर्वांना हवाहवासा वाटतो. मिठू मिठू बोलण्यामुळे तो लोकांना त्याच्याकडे पटकन आकर्षित करतो. लहान मुले शाळेमध्ये शिक्षकांनी आपल्या आवडत्या पक्षाचे चित्र काढायला सांगितल्यास, मुले पोपटाचे चित्र काढणे पसंत करतात व पोपटाला अतिशय छानपणे रंगवतात. पोपटाला पेरूची आणि आंब्याची फोड अतिशय आवडते. पोपट आपल्या वक्र टोकदार चोचीने तो सर्व फळ संपवतो.

पोपटाला नकला करायला खूप आवडतात. पोपट नकला अगदी हुबेहूब करतो. पोपट पक्षी बुद्धीने तल्लख आहे. पोपट हा सर्व पक्षांमध्ये अतिशय हुशार मानला जातो. पोपट हा आपल्या सर्वांचा चांगला मित्र आहे. आपण पोपटाला घरामध्ये पिंजऱ्यात बंदिस्त न ठेवता त्याला स्वतंत्रपणे आकाशात उडू दिले पाहिजे कारण ते त्याच आयुष्य आहे त्याला बंदिस्त करण्याचा आपल्याला कोणताही अधिकार नाही.

मोर हा पक्षी आपल्या भारत देशाचा राष्ट्रीय पक्षी आहे जो सौंदर्याने परिपूर्ण आहेत. विशेष पावसाळ्याच्या दिवसांमध्ये मोराचे सौंदरी हे पाहण्यासारखे असते. श्रावण महिन्यातील रिमझिम पावसामध्ये मोर आपला पिसारा पसरून नृत्य करतो. मोराचे हे सौंदर्य कित्येकांना मोरा कडे आकर्षित करते

मोर हा सर्वांचाच लोकप्रिय पक्षी आहे. या पक्षांनी सर्वसामान्य मनुष्याला मंत्रमुग्ध केले आहे सोबतच देवांना देखील भुरळ घातली आहे. जसे भगवान श्रीकृष्णाच्या डोक्यावर मोराचे पीस पाहायला मिळते. विद्येची देवता सरस्वतीचे वाहन देखील मोर आहे तसेच कार्तिकी स्वामींचे देखील वाहन असल्याचे पाहायला मिळते. याशिवाय कालिदासांनी लेखनाचे काम मोराच्या पिसा द्वारे केले म्हणून आज देखील पुस्तकामध्ये किंवा महत्त्वाच्या लेखनामध्ये मोराची पिसे ठेवली जातात. इतकेच नसून देवघरामध्ये मोराचे पीस ठेवणे शुभ मानले जाते.

मोर हा पक्षी सौंदर्य व पवित्रताचे प्रतीक मानला जातो. साधारणता मोर हा पक्षी झाडेझुडपे, नदी-नाले यांच्या किनार्‍यालगत मोठ्या संख्येने पाहायला मिळतात. मोराला शांततेचे प्रतीक देखील मानले जाते कारण मोराचे सुंदर रूप पाहताच मनाला शांतता मिळ

मोराचा पिसारा त्याची मान आणि डोक्यावर असलेले मुकुट हे मोराचे सौंदर्य वाढविण्यास भाग पाडतात. मोराला सुंदर असा सप्त रंगाचा पिसारा असतो व मोराची मान निळा रंगाची असून त्याच्या डोक्यावर मुकुट म्हणजेच कलंगी असतात.

मोर हा सर्वभक्षी पक्षी आहे. म्हणजेच मोर अन्नधान्य, मऊ देठ आणि पाने, सरडे, बिया, कीटक, फळे, लहान सस्तन प्राणी , धान्य, किडेमकोडे, उंदीर, साप यांसारख्या प्राण्यांची शिकार करून स्वतःची उपजीविका करतो.

भारतीय मोराची लांबी 100 ते 120 सेमी पर्यंत असते. त्याच्या पंखांची लांबी ३ ते ४ फुटांपर्यंत असते. मोराची शेपटी लहान, एक शिळा आणि दोन पाय असतात.त्याचा वेग ताशी १६ किलोमीटर असतो. त्याचे वजन 6 ते 10 किलो पर्यंत असते. मोराचे सरासरी आयुष्य 20 वर्षे असते. मोराचे वैशिष्ट्य म्हणजे मोराच्या अंगावर असलेले पिसे एका मोराच्या अंगावर सुमारे दीडशे पीसे एवढी कशी असतात. याच पिसांन मुळे मोर अतिशय सुंदर आणि आकर्षित दिसतो.

मोराला शेतकऱ्यांचा मित्र असेदेखील म्हटले जाते , कारण मोर पिकांचे नुकसान करणारी किडे, आळ्या आणि उंदीर यांना खाद्य म्हणून खातो.

मोर हा सर्व पक्षांमध्ये अतिशय सुंदर असल्याने मोरांना पक्षाचा राजा देखील म्हटले जाते. मोराचे हेच सौंदर्य पाहून मोराच्या प्रतिमांचा व आकारांचा वापर वेगवेगळ्या प्रकारे केला जातो. मोरांचा इतिहास हा खूप प्राचीन आहे. मुघल कालीन राजे-महाराजे बसण्यासाठी मोराच्या आकाराच्या सिंहासनाचा वापर करीत होते. तसेच सम्राट मोरे अशोक यांच्या नाण्यांवर देखील मोराची प्रतिमा पाहायला मिळते. याशिवाय आजच्या काळामध्ये देखील सजावटीसाठी मोरांच्या प्रतिमेचा वापर केला जातो. खरोखरच मोर हा खूप सुंदर पक्षी आहे त्यामुळे माझा आवडता पक्षी मोर आहे.

२६ जानेवारी १९६३ रोजी मोराला भारताचा राष्ट्रीय पक्षी म्हणून घोषित करण्यात आले. मोराला इंग्रजीत ‘ब्लू फॉवल’ किंवा ‘पीकॉक’ आणि संस्कृतमध्ये मोर म्हणून ओळखले जाते.मोराच्या अनेक प्रजाती भारतात आढळतात.

छान दिसायला अतिशय सुंदर आहेच, सोबतच मोराचे हे सुंदर सौंदर्य मोराच्या जनजीवनावर उठले आहे. म्हणजेच कित्येक अशी खारे मोराच्या शिकार करतात कारण मोराची सुंदर तसे बाजारामध्ये मोठ्या किमतीने विकली जातात. याशिवाय मोराची पिसे घरात ठेवल्याने घडामध्ये संपत्ती राहते असा समज असल्याने सर्वसामान्य मनुष्य मोराच्या पिसा साठी त्याची शिकार करतात. आदिवासी जाती जमातीचे लोक माणसासाठी मोराची शिकार करतात.

मोराची घटती संख्या पाहून भारत सरकारने मोराला पाळणे व त्याची शिकार करणे हा अधिकृत गुन्हा मानला आहे. त्यामुळे अलीकडे मोराची शिकार केली जात नाही.

असा हा धार्मिक दृष्ट्या व सौंदर्याने परिपूर्ण असलेला व आपल्या भारताचा राष्ट्रीय पक्षी असणारा मोर हा माझा आवडता पक्षी आहे.

• पोपट हा एक रंगबिरंगी आणि सुंदर पक्षी आहे. त्याला लाल वक्र चोच आणि चार नख्या असणारे मजबूत पाय व सोबतच आणि हिरवी पिसे असतात. त्याच्या मानेभोवती काळ्या रंगाचे वलय असते.
• मोर जवळपास सर्वच उष्ण देशांमध्ये आढळतो कारण थंड हवामान त्याला मानवत नाही. तो झाडाच्या पोकळीत राहतो. तो तिथे स्वतःचे घरटे बांधतो आणि मादी तिथे अंडी देतो.
• तो दाणे, फळे, पाने, बिया आणि शिजलेला भात सुद्धा खातो. त्याला आंबा, पेरू आणि कठीण कवचाची फळे आवडतात.
• पोपट खूप हुशार पक्षी आहे. तो माणसांच्या आवाजाची नक्कल करू शकतो. बरेच लोक पोपटाला कसरती करण्यास शिकवतात. भविष्य सांगणाऱ्या लोकांसाठी आणि सर्कस मध्ये काम करण्यासाठी पोपट उपयोगी ठरतात.
• संपूर्ण जगात ह्या सुंदर आणि चमकदार पिसे असणाऱ्या पक्षाच्या ३५० हून अधिक प्रजाती आहेत. पोपटाच्या बऱ्याच प्रजाती मध्ये नर आणि मादा सारखेच दिसतात, त्यांच्यातील फरक ओळखण्यासाठी रक्ताची चाचणी करावी लागते.

आम्हाला खात्री आहे की,या वेबसाईटवरील सर्व निबंध वाचून आपणास नक्कीच आनंद मिळेल.

निसर्गामध्ये विविध पक्षी बघायला मिळतात त्यातील काही पक्षी दिसायला अतिशय कुरूप तर काही पक्षी आहे खूप सुंदर असतात. विविध रंगाच्या आणि विविध आकाराचे हे पक्षी निसर्गाची शोभा वाढवित असतात. मला रंग खूप आवडतात. सर्वच रंग एकत्र पहायचेयचा असेल तर एक इंद्रधनुष्य पाहावा आणि दुसरा म्हणजे मोर.

विविध रंगांच्या पिसांनी सौंदर्यपूर्ण असलेला हा मोर पक्षी माझा आवडता पक्षी आहे. मोराच्या सुंदर ते मुळे माझा आवडता पक्षी मोर आहे.

मोराला इंग्रजीत पिकॉक ( Peacock ) म्हणतेत. तर शास्त्रीय भाषेत पावो क्रिस्टेटस (Pavo cristatus) असे म्हणतात.

मोर पाहताच माझे मन अगदी आनंदित होते.आणि लहानपणीची ती बाल कविता “नाच रे मोरा” मला आठवायला लागते. मोराचा तो हिरव्या निळ्या रंगाचा पिसारा आणि डोक्यावर असलेला तुरा सार्वांनाच मोराच्या प्रेमात पाडतो. मोर हा पक्षी घनदाट जंगलाच्या ठिकाणी आणि शेतीच्या आजूबाजूच्या परिसरात आढळतो.

मोराची लांबी साधारणता ‌200 ते 250सेंटीमीटर असते. तर मोराचे वजन हे पाच ते सहा किलोपर्यंत भरते. मोर पक्षाच्या मादीला लांडोर असे म्हणतात. मोराला पाऊस खूप आवडतो म्हणून रिमझिम पावसाच्या वेळी मोर नेहमी नसताना दिसतो.

आणि पावसाच्या वेळी मोर आपला पूर्णता पिसारा फुलवून नाचतो. यावेळी मोराचे सौंदर्य बघण्यासारखे असते. मोर आपला पिसारा फुलवून लांडोर पक्षाला आपल्याकडे आकर्षित करतो.

मोर पक्षी भारतात सर्वत्र आढळतो. सोबतच ऑस्ट्रेलिया, श्रीलंका, नेपाळ, भूतान, ब्बंगलादेश अशा देशात सुद्धा आढळतात. मोर दिसायला जेवढा सुंदर आहे तितकाच त्याचा आवाज सुद्धा सुंदर आहे. मोर म्याव ssम्यावss अश्या आवाजात ओरडतो . मोराच्या सुंदर दिसण्या मुळे काहीजण मोराला पाळण्याचा विचार करतात. परंतु भारतात मोराला पाळणे हे कायद्यानुसार गुन्हा आहे.

मोर किडे ,साप, उंदीर ,आळ्या यांना खाद्य म्हणून खातो. म्हणून मोराला शेतकऱ्याचा मित्र असे म्हणतात. त्यासोबतच मोर धान्य,बिया, शिजवलेले अन्न हेसुद्धा खातात. विविध फळेसुद्धा मोर खातात.

मोर नेहमी झाडावर समूहाने राहतात, मोरला जास्त उंचावर उडता येत नाही. त्यामुळे मोर नेहमी झाडावर किंवा जमिनीवर आढळतात. मोर ला प्राचीन काळापासूनच खूप महत्त्वाचे स्थान आहे कारण मोर माता सरस्वती चे आणि कार्तिक देवाचे वाहन आहे .

तसचं मोराच पिस हे भगवान श्रीकृष्णाच्या डोक्यावरती पहायला मिळते. त्यामुळे काहीजण मोराची देव समजून पूजा सुद्धा करतात. मोराचे सुंदर रूप आणि रंग पाहून मोराला पैठणी या मराठी महावस्त्रावर स्थान देण्यात आले आहे. प्राचीन काळात सुद्धा मोराची काही छायाचित्रे आढळली आहेत.

या सर्व कारणांमुळे मोराला भारत देशाचा ” राष्ट्रीय पक्षी ” म्हणून मान मिळाला आहे.

तसेच सम्राट अशोक यांच्या नानांवर मोरा चे छायाचित्र आढळले. पूर्वीचे राजा महाराजे यांच्या राजवाड्यात मोर पाहायला मिळत. पूर्वीचे राजे हे मोराचे छायाचित्रास असलेल्या सिंहासनावर बसत.

आजच्या काळातील सिनेमांमध्ये मोर वरती  काही गाणे काढण्यात आलेली आहेत. मोराला नेहमीच बहुरंगी आणि आनंदाचे प्रतीक मानले जाते. त्यामुळेच आपल्या भारतीय संस्कृती मध्ये मोराला खूप महत्त्वाचे स्थान आहे.

मोराचे मोरपीस हे सर्वांनाच आवडते. त्यामुळे मोरा लहानांपासून मोठ्यापर्यंत सर्वांचा आवडता पक्षी आहे. चित्रकारांचे पहिले चित्र हे मोराचे च असते. कारण मोराचे रूप पाहून सगळेजण मोहित  होतात.

अशाप्रकारे सर्व दृष्टीने सुंदर असणारा हा मोर माझा आवडता पक्षी आहे. परंतु अलीकडे होणाऱ्या मोराचा शिकारी मुळे मोरांची संख्या कमी होत आहे. आदिवासी लोक मोरांची शिकार करून त्यांचे मांस खातात. तसंच आणि कडे वाढते प्रदूषण आणि वृक्षतोड यामुळे मोराच्या प्रजाती नष्ट होण्याच्या मार्गावर आलेत.

मोर नेहमी झाडावरच राहतो मग झाडांची संख्या कमी झाल्यानंतर मोराने राहायचे कुठे?

मोर हा  सगळ्या पक्षांची शान आणि आपल्या देशाचे सुद्धा शान आहे. त्यामुळे मोराच्या संरक्षणाची जबाबदारी आपल्या सर्वांची आहे. सामान्यता सर्वांनाच मोर हा पक्षी आवडतो.करण मोराचे रूप हे सर्वांनाच आकर्षित करते.

त्यामुळे माझा आवडता पक्षी मोर आहे.

माझा आवडता पक्षी मोर मला सुंदर दिसणाऱ्या गोष्टी खूप आवडतात आणि मोर सर्वात सुंदर पक्षी आहे त्याला बघीतलं की, बघतच राहावे असे वाटते, म्हणुन तो माझा सर्वात आवडता पक्षी आहे. मोर पाहताच माझे मन एकदम आनंदित होते आणि मनात येते ती म्हणजे लहानपणी ची कविता "नाच रे मोरा.." जी आपण सर्वेच लहापणी गातो. मोराचे ते सुंदर हिरवे-निळे पंख, त्याच्या डोक्यावर असलेला तो सुंदर तुरा पाहून कोणीही मोराच्या मोहात पडेल. ह्याच गोष्टी मुळे मोर एकदम रुबाबात चालतो. मोर हा आपला राष्ट्रीय पक्षी आहे. प्राचीन काला पासूनच मोराचे एक विशिष्ट स्थान आहे. मोर हे सरस्वती चे वाहन आहे म्हणुनच लोक मोराची पूजाही करतात. चित्रकार असो कि कवी ह्या दोघा कलाकारांना मोर खूप आवडतो आणि ते त्यांच्या कले मधून दिसते. मोर हा सुंदर तर आहेच पण तो शेतकऱ्याचा मित्र सुद्धा आहे. मोर शेत नास करणारे उपद्र्वी प्राणी जसे उंदीर, बेडूक, साप ह्यांना खातो व शेताची रक्षा करतो. मोराचे एक मुख्य आकर्षण म्हणजे पाऊस पडला कि तो सुंदर पिसारा फुलून नृत्य करतो. त्याचा तो नाच बघण्यासाठी लोक आतुरतेने वाट पाहत असतात. मला मोर हा खूप खूप आवडतो आणि मोर माझा आवडता पक्षी आहे. खुप चूका होत्या, सुधारुन दिल्या !!

मित्रांनो शाळेच्या परीक्षेत निबंध हा एक महत्वाचा भाग असतो, प्रत्येक परीक्षेत कुठल्याना कुठल्या विषयावर निबंध लिहिण्यासाठी सांगतात, शाळेत असतांना परीक्षेतच काय तर कुठल्या हि स्पर्धेमध्ये निबंध स्पर्धा हि असतेच, हीच गोष्ट लक्षात ठेवून आम्ही आज आमच्या या लेखात “माझा आवडता पक्षी: मोर” या विषयावर निबंध घेऊन आलो, चला तर पाहूया.

“माझा आवडता पक्षी : मोर” निबंध – Essay on Peacock in Marathi

नाच रे मोरा आंब्याच्या बनात नाच रे मोरा नाच……..

सर्वांनी ही कविता नक्कीच ऐकली किंवा गायली असेल. मोर एक छान, सुंदर, आणि आकर्षक पक्षी. सुबक आकार, रंगबेरंगी पिसारा, डौलात चालणारा हा पक्षी. शिवाय आपल्या ग्रंथ आणि पुराणांमध्येदेखील मोराचा उल्लेख आहे. माता सरस्वती आणि शिवपुत्र कार्तिकस्वामी यांचे वाहन म्हणजे मोर. भगवान श्रीकृष्ण यांचे डोक्यावर नेहमी मोरपंख दिसते.

मला मोर आवडतो या मागे अनेक कारणे आहेत. सर्वात प्रथम म्हणजे त्याचा रंग. गर्द निळ्या रंगाची त्याची मान, हिरवा आणि अनके रंगांनी सजलेले त्याचे पंख आणि विशेष आकर्षण म्हणजे त्याचा पिसारा आणि डोक्यावरील तुरा तसेच पिसाऱ्यावरील छान डोळे.

हा मोर जेव्हा गाणे गातो तेव्हा त्याचा आवाज खूप मनमोहक वाटतो. त्याच्या या गाण्याला ‘केकावली’ असे म्हणतात. एकंदरीत काय तर कितीही वर्णन केले तरी संपणार नाही असा एकमेव पक्षी म्हणजे मोर.

जेव्हा आकाशात ढग दाटून येतात आणि पाऊस पडण्याचे संकेत मिळतात, त्यावेळी मोर आपला पूर्ण पिसारा फुलवून छान नृत्य सादर करतो. यावेळी हा नजारा बघण्यासाठी खरोखरच नशीब असावं लागतं. मोर आपला पिसारा फुलवून मादीला म्हणजेच ‘लांडोर’ला आपल्याकडे आकर्षित करत असतो. लांडोरला मोरासारखा आकर्षक पिसारा नसतो. तसेच लांडोरचा रंग मातकट असतो.

मोर हा लहान-सहन किडे, कीटक, धान्य आणि फळ वगैरे खातो. इतर प्राणी आहे पक्षांपासून आपले रक्षण करण्यासाठी तो नेहमी उंच झाडावर राहणे पसंत करतो. तो जास्त वेळ उडू शकत नाही. परंतु जेव्हा धावण्याचा प्रश्न येतो तेव्हा तो खूप जलद गतीने धावतो.

मोर हा सहसा गट करून राहतो. या गटामध्ये एक नर तर ३ किंवा ४ मादी असू शकतात. शेतीचे नुकसान करणारे किट मोर खातो त्यामुळे त्याला शेतकऱ्याचा मित्र देखील म्हणतात.

दरवर्षी मोराला नवीन पंख येतात. त्यामुळे अगोदरचे पंख गळून पडतात. या पंखांचा उपयोग अनेक सजावटीच्या वस्तू तयार करण्यासाठी केला जातो. या पंखांपासून हातपंखे तयार करण्यात येतात. पंचकर्म क्रियांमध्ये मोरपंखांचा उपयोग केला जातो. असं म्हणतात कि पुस्तकात किंवा वहीमध्ये हे पंख ठेवल्याने सरस्वती माता प्रसन्न होते.

मोरपंख एवढे आकर्षक आहेत कि स्वतः मुघल बादशहा शाहजहान यांना देखील या पंखांचा मोह आवरला नाही. त्यांनी देखील स्वतः साठी मोराच्या पंखासारखे दिसणारे मयूरासन बनवून घेतले होते.

मोर हा भारतातील जवळपास सर्वच राज्यांत पाहायला मिळतो. मोर हा विशेषतः जंगलांमध्ये किंवा आरक्षित वनांमध्ये पाहायला मिळतो. पूर्वी सर्वत्र अगदी सहजपणे वावरणारे मोर आज पाहायला मिळत नाहीत. यामागचे कारण म्हणजे शिकार. काही मांसाहारी लोक केवळ आपली भूक क्षमविण्याकरिता पक्षांची शिकार करतात. त्यामुळे आज मोरांची प्रजाती विलुप्त होण्याच्या मार्गावर आहे.

या आकर्षक पक्षाची दाखल भारत सरकारने देखील घेतली. मोराची अप्रतिम सुंदरता आणि त्याचे धार्मिक तसेच सांस्कृतिक महत्व लक्षात घेता १९६३ सालापासून मोर हा भारताचा राष्ट्रीय पक्षी म्हणून घोषित करण्यात आला. त्यानंतर मोरांच्या विलुप्त होत चाललेल्या प्रजातीचे संरक्षण व्हावे म्हणून १९७२ साली ‘मोर संरक्षण कायदा’ संपूर्ण देशभर लागू करण्यात आला. संपूर्ण भारतात मोराच्या शिकारीवर बंधन आहे.

तर अशाप्रकारे, सांस्कृतिक आणि राष्ट्रीय महत्व मोराला देण्यात आलेले आहे. दिसायला सुंदर, आकर्षक आणि मनमोहक प्राणी जर कुणाला आवडत नसेल तर नवलचं!

Parrot is among the most fabulous bird on the plat. PSITTACINES is the scientific term for a parrot. Its vibrant color gives a feeling of joy and happiness. There are near to 339 species of parrot around the world. Different parrot species show different body color patters. Sun conure has a rainbow-colored body; scarlet macaw show red, yellow, and white color over their body. 

Parrots are vivid and multicolored birds. They have an extreme and slightly colored bill, with a pair of strong legs and four toes two among which are in backward direct and two are in the forward direction. Different parrot species have different structures and different body shapes and sizes.

One of the biggest specie of parrot is found in the region of the South American continent known as hyacinth macaw. In contrast, the kakapo specie is primitive to the region of New Zealand, which is almost 3kg in weight. Papua New Guinea is the place to the smallest parrot on the planet pigmy parrot, which is nearly comparable to a human index finger. 

Some of the most common parrot species found around the world are African grey’s, monk parakeets, conures, and budgerigars. These are some of the most common parrot species which are located around the world. A parrot on an average lives a bit longer than 60 years. Parrot has omnivorous eating habits; they can eat both vegetarian and nonvegetarian foods. 

Buds, nuts, tiny insects, leaves, seeds, and flowers are among the everyday things consumed by the parrots as part of their diet. They are among the most intelligent bird species found in the world. They love to live in tropical and subtropical environmental regions. They are the only animal and bird species that can mimic a human voice. New Zealand is the place for a maximum number of parrot species in the world. Researches around the world have shown that some parrots live around 80 years. 

Habitats of parrot

The tropical rainforest is the home to some of the species of parrots. They are moist and humid loving birds. The regions of the Amazon rain forest and New Zealand are home to many parrot species of the world. Some species of parrot are also known to exist in arid and semi-arid desert regions, which include Sahara desert, Gobi desert parts of Iran and Egypt, and some parts of the Thar biodiversity region of Rajasthan. 

Most rare species of parrots are primitive to the Mexican region of South America. They choose small tree cavities to lay their eggs. Due to excessive hunting and poaching, their population is decreasing day by day. The smallest parrot species known as pigmy parrot is almost on the urge to an extent. Only 150 pigmy parrot is believed to be alive. Parrots are social animals like humans. They live in large groups known as flocks. 

1000 parrots can exist in a single flock. Feathers on the infant parrots only appear after 3 weeks of their birth. As the parrots grow three months, they develop the feathers and capability to fly. They produce harmonious sounds to attract female counters. They always live with their families. 

Parrots in ancient methodologies

For a long time, parrots are a source of attraction to mankind due to their vivid appearance and social nature. Evidence has been found in literature, ancient writing, and religious text about the relation between humans and parrots. As per the Hindu mythology, it is believed that the god of love and lust knew as ‘kamdev’ used to ride a parrot. 

In Buddhism, parrots are believed to be an incarnation of a bird from heaven. In the Mayan civilization, people believed that the path from earth to heaven is directed by parrots. Many people worship parrot in the South American region. The parrots will continue to fascinate humanity to the end time because of their intelligence, beauty, and vivid colors. 

The behavior of parrot

Parrots are believed to be kind, joyful, and happy birds. They are the only social animal aside from humans and dolphins. Parrots hanging upside down is a sign of happiness. Single parrots are belied to buzz and jump to give a sign of attraction. Shaking of the body is also a standard behavior that exists among parrots that is the sign of their fun mood. Tightening of their father is a sign of aggression, fanning, and ruffling of the neck is a common sign of aggression. Unhanding the feather is done to cool down the body. Stretching is done before flying. 

Parrots turn their head while focusing on particular things or objects. They breathe heavily when they are anxious about something.  Stretching of the neck is a sign of some danger. Plucking can be a sign of some skin problems. Preening is a sign of trust. When a parrot is hungry, it screams very loudly. 

Relationship of parrots with human

Parrots can easily make friendship with humans because of their vividness and social behavior. Humans find them very entertaining. They can easily mimic human sounds. We keep us with them because of their jolly nature and vice mimic feature. They are believed to predict the future. Many people make it their income source as well. Some people make their mimicry a source of entertainment and use it to earn money. They are widely used around the world to do funny acts in the circus as a part of entertaining people. Because of their social behavior, they need attention and affection. They make a very lovable pet. They need love and patience to handle.

Need for their conservation-

Many poachers are illegally killing parrots for their beak and feathers. Many species are almost on the verge of getting extinct. It is our whole and sole duty to save these beautiful birds. Many NGO’s and organizations are working around the world to save these amazing birds. The importing of parrots had been made illegal in many countries. Strict laws are being passed for the protection of the parrots. 

These fantastic birds play a very crucial role in maintaining the ecological balance. Hence there is a high requirement for the protection of these birds. More and more awareness should be spread around the world for the protection of parrots.

Parrot is one of the most fascinating avian (bird) species found on earth. In scientific terms it is also called as PSITTACINES.

Almost all the subspecies of parrots are vividly multi-colored, making them very attractive to look at. Though Pesquet’s parrot (colored black and red only) and African grey parrot (grey with slightly red tail) being exceptions to this vividness.

A strong curved beak mostly red in color, strikingly colorful feathers, strong legs having four toes, two pointing forward and the other two to the backward with an erect posture are some of the characteristic features of parrots. Though, they vary in sizes, in terms of length, throughout their bird order.

Species: Largest & Smallest

Hyacinth Macaw, found in the continent of South America, is the world’s  largest parrot of about 100 centimeter length, while Kakapo of the New Zealand (an endangered species) being the heaviest one, weighing up to 3 kgs. Pigmy parrot, found in Papua New Guinea is smallest of all the parrot species, similar to the size of an adult human finger.

There are more than 300 species of parrots found worldwide, most famous of them being macaws, parakeets, lorikeets, lovebirds, cockatiels, cockatoos, kakapos, African Grey parrot etc.

Parrots are among the most intelligent of all the bird species, mainly because of their fascinating ability to mimic the sounds they hear, to near perfection.

Besides, they have a long life spanning more than 60 years on an average.

WHAT DO THEY EAT — they feed mostly on tiny insects, fruits, seeds and nuts etc. Their curved and strong beak helps those holding round & hard slippery nuts and seeds, which they love to eat most.

Their habitats: Locations worldwide

Although, parrots are found all over the world, maximum of their population is found in the tropical regions, that too in the rainforests of southern hemisphere mostly.

Because of warm and humid climate, wide variety of parrot species is found across the Indian subcontinent also.

They usually live in dense forests in warm climatic areas but, can also make semi-arid regions as their habitat. Even some species of them like, keas, thick-billed and maroon-fronted parrots lives in snowy alpine forests. They generally live in the hollows of trees, but can also make mound or other such spaces as their home.

Family life

Parrots also, like humans, are very social being and love to live in large groups called flocks, which may consists up to 1,000 birds at a time. This provides them with security against predatory birds besides giving them an environment of harmony with their fellow beings to live in.

Parrots also lay eggs, like most other bird species. Their young ones, when they hatch, have only a thin layer of down feathers on their back. Their pin feathers (underdeveloped adult feathers) start to appear only after they grow three weeks old. The mother stays with the offspring to look after them, while father goes out to fetch them food. Within a month or two, these young ones grow up to fly off on their own.

Parrots can simply be called as loyal towards their partners like swan, as they are monogamous. They woo their mates usually with attractive feather & tail displays and musical sounds.

Parrots in ancient mythology

There are many myths, legends, literary writings, and artistic works and so on, associated with parrots.

Like, in the South American and Mayan civilizations parrots and macaws used to be considered as a spiritual connection between the mortal & immortal world, besides symbolizing their feathers for the rainbow. ‘Kyash Kachina’ used to be worshipped as a parrot god in Native American cultures.

In Indian mythology also, parrots have been a recurring theme often associated with ‘Kamdev’, the god of love, who is often depicted as riding a parrot. Many goddesses worshipped in southern India are also depicted as holding a parrot in their hand or simply accompanying them.

There is a very famous legend, ‘Yoruba legend’, associated with the African Grey parrot; besides, parrot has also been part of various Buddhist and English folklores.

In relation with human beings: Present context

Since parrots are very fabulous to look at and, at the same time are intelligent also in the sense that they can copycat the sounds/voices of the humans and other animals to the edge of perfection, they naturally attracts humans towards them.

By virtue of their socializing behavior they easily mingle and make friends with us. Because of their vivid color scheme and mimicking capability we tend to keep them with us for a long and therefore, cage them. Besides, they are very smart pets, and often help their owner in earning money, by way of assisting them to do some prediction, or some kind of mimicry activities.

Parrots are also widely employed in circuses to entertain the people by undertaking various types of funny and daring acts.

But, since they are high- maintenance pets, in return they also require enough attention, affection, cuddling, exercise and patience, (as they are known to be very uttering with the sounds of screams, screeches etc. when they are very happy/bored) from their owner.

Need for their conservation

Almost one-fourth of the world’s parrots are on the verge of extinction.

Population of this wonderful species is fast declining, owing to deforestation causing loss to their natural habitat. Besides, parrots have few natural predators in the wild like, monkeys, snakes and some other large predatory birds, but they tend to feed on the eggs of the bird, rather than the bird itself, causing end to the whole new generation of the bird.

Moreover, since they are among most popular bird species, they fall prey to the widespread illegal trapping & trade in exotic pet species.

Consequently, governments and various organizations at both national & international level have started taking steps in this direction. For example, importing wild parrots into U.S. and Europe made illegal in 1992; similarly,

CONVENTION ON INTERNATIONAL TRADE IN ENDANGERED SPECIES (CITES),1975 which is an international agreement among the national governments seeks to ban illegal trade in endangered wildlife species ( of both, flora & fauna) to ensure their survival.

Bird life International, an international NGO with great repute, is also striving to conserve this very beautiful creature with their various protection and conservation programs, running worldwide.

Every creature on earth has evolved and exists for a purpose, which it has to serve in maintaining ecological balance. We humans are also a part of this, and needs to live in harmony with every other creature, especially those who are small and vulnerable, parrots being one of them. It’s our responsibility to help them flourish and survive, whether in wild or in captivity.

Essay On My Favourite Bird

My favourite bird is the sparrow. The sparrow is a very common bird. It is to be seen anywhere and everywhere, where human beings live.

The sparrow is small in size. It has dark brown wings. The under side of its body is lighter in colour. It has small beady eyes and a small beak.It is a busy and active bird. It wakes up early in the morning. It twitters all the time. Its cheerful twittering wakes up people from their sleep in the mornings.

Many sparrows come and sit on my window sill every morning. They twitter so loudly that it is impossible for us to continue sleeping. We have to wake up, open our balcony door and throw some grains to them. Then they hop about and merrily peck at the foodgrains.

The sparrow is a friendly bird. It likes the company of human beings. It is always to be seen close to people’s houses. It makes friends very easily.

Once it knows that you will not hurt it, it hops right inside your house and flies about all over the place. If you get into the habit of feeding sparrows, they hop into your room to remind you that they are hungry. They are quite intelligent. They notice in which container you store your foodgrains. If you are busy they will fly in and help themselves to the grain, if the container is open.

As birds are such friendly creatures, I wish more and more people would make friends with them, and be kind to them.

There are tens of thousands of birds in the world but my favourite bird is the peacock. A peacock is a beautiful bird. It has a shiny, dark blue neck and a crown on its head. Its tail feathers are colourful and long. During the monsoon season, peacocks spread their feathers and dance gracefully.

Their dance is spectacular and brings joy to those watching. Peacocks are the male birds of their species. The females are called peahen and are less colourful than the males. Peacocks live on the upper branches of tall trees and prefer running to flying. They are quite agile on foot. In India, peacocks have religious and cultural significance. They are the national bird of our country. 

Short Essay on My Favourite Bird Parrot in 200 Words 

There are many different types of birds in the world. My favourite bird is the parrot. Parrots come in different sizes, shapes, and colours. Some are single-coloured while others have bright, multi-coloured feathers. The colour of their plumage can range from predominantly green with some red to a vibrant mix of red, orange, green, blue, yellow, pink, and black. Some smaller species of parrots can only grow up to ten centimetres while some larger varieties grow up to a hundred centimetres and weigh over a kilogram. 

Parrots are omnivores and eat nuts, seeds, berries, fruits, plants, grains as well as small insects. They have a curved beak that helps them split fruits and nuts. These birds are quite intelligent and can mimic human speech. They are very playful and friendly in nature. Parrots usually build their nests in the hollow of trees and lay eggs twice a year. Baby parrots are called chicks and are very cute. 

In recent times, due to habitat loss, climate change, and wildlife trade, many types of parrots are becoming endangered. Many people keep parrots as pets in cages for entertainment and do not take good care of them. This needs to be stopped. Parrots are great birds and we should do our best to protect them and take care of them. 

Short Essay on My Favourite Bird Cuckoo in 400 Words 

I have seen hundreds of different types of birds and observed their unique quirks and I adore them all, but my favourite is the cuckoo. Cuckoos are black in colour and have long tails. They look like crows but are smaller than them. The sound that cuckoos make is very pleasant to listen to and they are quite famous for it as well. Their melodious call fills everyone with joy. Cuckoos live on trees and in bushes. They eat fruits, insects, and worms. They especially like eating caterpillars. 

Cuckoos are migratory birds and we often see them during the spring season. Hence, they are called the harbinger of spring. Cuckoos have a peculiar habit. They do not make nests and are infamous for laying eggs in the nests of other birds, usually crows. A female cuckoo can lay eggs in as many as 50 nests during the breeding season.

Cuckoos have evolved to lay eggs that mimic the eggs of crows. This prevents their eggs from being ejected from the nest. The crows mistake the eggs as their own and look after them. Cuckoo chicks hatch and grow up under the care of crows. 

In the village, we wake up every day listening to the chirping of different birds and during the spring season, it is beautiful ‘kuhu kuhu’ of the cuckoos that dominate. There are at least ten pairs of cuckoos that live in our orchard and we give them grains and fruits to feed on.

Although they are usually afraid of humans and don’t come too close, I once befriended a cuckoo. It had red eyes and used to come near the windowsill of my room every morning. I fed it grains that I got from my grandmother and also caught a few hairy caterpillars for it. One day, it brought along another cuckoo. Both of them looked quite similar. 

I had a great time interacting with the cuckoos in my village orchard and fell in love with them. When the vacation was over, we had to come back and I started missing the cuckoos. I read a lot of articles on these birds and filled my room with posters of these beautiful creatures. After a few months, when we went to visit my grandparents again, it was already winter and the cuckoos had migrated. I never saw my friend again but I still remember its amazing red eyes and melodious voice. Cuckoos have since been my favourite birds.
