Due to my persistence, my father bought me a football, and we began playing with it in the evenings. This further helped me refine my playing tactics as I learnt how to navigate the ball in a team of 11 players and kick the ball into the goal post. Moreover, football improved my stamina and leadership skills. Hence, I can confidently say that football is my preferred game, and this short essay on my favourite game football will validate it.

Rules of Football

In this part of the essay on my favourite game football, we will learn how football is played and what are the rules to follow. In a football game, there will be two teams of 11 players each. The most important thing to remember while playing football is that the ball should be passed from one player to another only by foot. And in case the player touches the ball with his hand, the other team will get a free kick.

Who hasn’t played football? It is such a popular game, that almost everyone knows about it.

We all must’ve had played a game of football during our school days, fighting with each other over every penalty.

Not just our childhood and school days , we still might just go out for a game, in our formal clothes during lunch breaks if we get the chance.

We never get enough, because it is that type of game. But do we know the basics of the game? Do we know each and every player’s role, the fouls, the do’s and don’ts?

A brief history

The oldest recorded form of football was a sport in ancient China , called Cuju. Cuju literally means kick ball . It was played during major celebrations of the empire.

It was played between two teams, each trying to put the ball between the others hoop. There were many forms of games played in Europe that resembled football, but involved more violence and use of hands.

Football is a recreational sport, played using a spherical ball. There are two teams, each containing 11 players. So in all, there are 22 players on the field including the two goalkeepers.

The match is won by the team that has the maximum number of goals, which is scored by putting the ball, called the football, into the opposing team’s goal.

In the event of an even score, extra time is awarded. If even then, the match is even, it is declared a draw. If the match is important, i.e. if it is a final or a semi final, then the winner is decided by a penalty shootout.

In a penalty shootout, 5 players of each team are pitted against the goalkeepers of the opposing team, and at expected to score the goal.

There are substitutes in both teams that are replaced mid play by the manager, or in the event that a player is injured. Each team has a manager who manages the various aspects of the side.

He has a myriad of responsibilities. They include managing player contracts, negotiating match fee, transferring players from other teams during the transfer season.

He analyses player capabilities, gives them positions in the team formation. He scouts for new talent for the team’s future, and manages their training.

The players in the modern versions of the game are divided into classes. There are strikers, defenders and mid fielders.

The strikers stay ahead in the team formation and are responsible for scoring goals and looking for chances to do the some.

The defenders are the players responsible for preventing the opposing team from scoring goals and maintain the flank.

The midfielders are given the responsibility of dispossession the opponent of the ball and creating chances for a counter strike.

The goalkeepers have one of the most important duties in the team. He or she is the last line of defence of the team against an opponent attack.

A goal keeper stands guard in front of the goal and stops the ball from entering it. He or she also has the key role during penalties.

The goalkeeper is the only player allowed to hold the ball with his or her hands. The other players are forbidden to do so, except during a throw off or throw in.

Each team has a captain, whose only official duty is to take part in the coin toss before the game or the penalties.

If a player hurts another player or performs a maneuver that is against the rules, he commits a foul and maybe given a yellow card. Two yellow cards and you are out of the game.

Football has become a major sport in today’s world. People religiously follow their beloved teams. They travel miles to watch their team play.

The football players are regarded as idols and Gods by the fans. This spirit is welcoming, but sometimes things do get out of hand.

History has seen fight resulting between the fans of rival teams, often causing havoc and chaos.

The players are often seen deliberately hurting fellow players to prevent a goal or a goal scoring opportunity, though this does not apply to all the players.

Crucially, many doctors and nutritionists recommend playing this amazing game. Kids play so many games like football, basket, cricket, hockey, badminton, tennis, and many more. Since in India, the popular game is cricket , many kids keep it as their hobby. But, for me my favourite sport is football.

Football is one of the most famous games in the world. It is played in almost over 100 countries. It is an outdoor sport played between two teams. Each of these teams has 11 members. The field is rectangular and has a goal post on each end.

The prime goal of football game is to score a goal against the opponent team. The team that scores the max number of goals against the other wins the match. As the name suggests, the player plays this game by kicking the ball with their foot. Also, the other name given to this game is “Soccer.”

Football is an extremely popular game that attracts people all throughout the world. It helps many to get relief from stress, teaches teamwork, discipline, and also brings fitness to the fans and players. It is a game of much wonder, joy, and interest.

Football is said to be an ancient Greek game known as “Harpaston.” It was played be kicking a ball with foot by two teams. It was a rough game aimed to score a goal by kicking or running the ball past the goal line.

It was played with no particular side boundaries, the number of players, limits filed to size, and many more. It is said that it had its origin in twelfth. Later on, football became famous in England first, and then its rules came into effect when it became a leading sport in institutions in the 19 th century.

Further, it was spread to the US but was mostly banned in schools because of the increasing brutality. But it got legalised by the committee in 1905.

This game has two teams of 11 players in each. Here, players have to kick a ball with their feet and take a goal by putting the ball into the goal post of the opponent team. In order to oppose the goal made of players of the opponent team, there is a goal-keeper on both sides. 

Players are prevented to touch the ball with hand except for the goalkeeper. A team having more goals is declared as the winner and the other as a loser. The game football is conducted by two linesmen, one on each side and by a referee.

All the players are warned to follow the rule while playing strictly. It has been an international game & played as a World Cup tournament every four years in various countries throughout the world. 

Rules in Game Football

Similar to other games, there are some rules and regulations in a football match. First, the ball shouldn’t be touched by hand. If the ball gets touched, the other team gets a free-kick.

There is a small area near the goalpost. ‘D’ is the game of that area. The boundary of ‘D’ is at least 10 yards from the goalpost. If a player touches the ball, they’re the opposite team gets a penalty.

Further, there are other rules. The second crucial rule is the “offside rule.” In this rule; when the player crosses the defender line, it becomes the off-side. If you are a great fan of football, you must know what defenders are. 

In this sport, the players are into three sub-categories. The first category is “Forward.” These are players who put the ball in the goalpost’s net. The 2 nd category is a “Midfielder.”

They pass the ball to the forward player. The 3 rd category is the “Defenders.” The defenders stop the other team players from putting the ball in the goalpost. 

Apart from this, if a player injures and fouls the other team player, the referee gives him a “Yellow” or “Red Card.” The yellow card is a warning card, and the red card is a suspension card. This card suspends the play for the rest of the football game. 

Like said earlier, sports person plays the game in a rectangular field. Here, the length of the area is 110m, and the breadth is 75m long. There are lines marked in the field known as yards; the centre line is the 50-yard line and the line near the goal post in the 10-yard line.

Each team comprises 2 center forward players, one right out and one left out, 4 back players and 2 halfback players, and a goalie. Here, the players are prevented from touching the ball with hand… Only a goalie can do so. 

Why football is My favorite Game?

For me, football is my all favourite time game. It has been the source of immense enjoyment and excitement for both my family and me. I played for my school’s football team on the attacking side and felt a rush in my veins whenever I take the ball forward to the opponent’s goalpost.

When I scored a goal, all my teammates will come cheering me. I have always watched football, and Christino Ronaldo is my favourite player. He plays as a forward player and is indeed the greatest of all times.

Certainly, he is the best player the world has known in football. I watch all his matches, and he is my role model. I even try to imitate his moved while playing. 

Importance of Playing Football Game

Soccer has also been a source of great physical activity. As it is played for 90 mins with a break of 15 mins after 45 mins, it is a game that keeps a person running around the field all the 90 minutes.

So, a 90 mins cardio workout will surely keep people fit and immune to diseases. Playing football is refreshing to the body. And the best part is that it is a team game, so you will find a feeling of effort and team building. Working in teams will surely help one in the future.

The opposite team tries to stop him from going back till he runs out of breath and stops saying kabaddi. If they manage to stop him, he loses. I am very good at Kabaddi because I can run very fast before anyone can catch me. I am also able to hold my breath for a very long time. Kabaddi is my favourite because it is a challenging game and one has to be very strong and fast to win at it.

Hockey is my favourite game because it is challenging and also a lot of fun at the same time. It is the national game of India and is also played throughout the world. In the game, there are 11 players on each team. The teams have to chase a ball with their hockey sticks and score a goal. Along with playing hockey, I also love watching it on television. Although it is a national sport, hockey is not very common in the country. The popularity needs to increase, and more people should take up the game in schools and colleges.

Ludo is a popular board game among all children. I play it with my family and friends on weekends when we meet. Ludo is my favourite because I can play the game anytime and anywhere. The game is also available on mobile phones, but I like playing it on the gameboard when I am home. It requires at least two players and a maximum of four. In ludo, each player gets four tokens to play. The players roll the dice turn by turn and move ahead on the board accordingly. The first player who takes all his tokens to the finishing point wins. I also have a magnetic board and tokens for playing the game while travelling to a holiday destination. I like playing ludo with new people and making new friends.

I enjoy playing all ball games, but volleyball is my favourite of them all. The game has two teams standing on opposite sides of a court with a net in between. If the ball reaches out of the court boundary or touches the net, the team that hits the ball loses. The game requires you to stay focused all the time, as even a small lapse of judgment can cost you the winning point. Carrom is one of the best board games there is! It is a two-player game, but I love playing it alone too. I enjoy it because it requires strength, accuracy and swiftness while striking every move. The game is fun but challenging because it requires precise moves with an understanding of force and direction of the strike. It took me many months to learn how to shoot the striker properly and hit the tokens on the board. It takes a lot of time to become good at the game as we need a lot of practice to excel in it.

My favourite game is football. It is a popularly played sport throughout the world! The best teams from every country make it to the world cup, and people across the globe watch it with interest. I love football because there is a sense of freedom in playing the game. Players have to kick a ball with their foot and take a goal by putting ball into the goalpost of the opponent team. In order to oppose the goal made by players of opponent team, there is a goalkeeper on each side. No one player is allowed to touch the ball with hand except the goal-keeper. My Favourite Game Essay in English

Chicago Bears NFL Draft picks 2024: Grades, fits and scouting reports

The Chicago Bears entered the 2024 NFL Draft on April 25 with four picks over the three-day draft .

The Bears made USC quarterback Caleb Williams the No. 1 pick in the draft. The selection of the 2022 Heisman Trophy winner was viewed as a foregone conclusion after the Bears traded Justin Fields to the Pittsburgh Steelers last month.

Williams immediately becomes QB1 for a franchise and a fan base starved for a star quarterback. The only other quarterbacks on the roster are second-year player Tyson Bagent and journeyman Brett Rypien .

Williams should love the wide receivers he’ll be throwing to in Chicago. The Bears already had veterans DJ Moore and Keenan Allen , then they added Washington ’s Rome Odunze with the No. 9 pick on Thursday night.

They could have traded down or taken the first defensive player in the draft, but grabbing one of the top three wide receivers was too tempting to pass up.

On Friday night, the Bears fortified their offensive line depth by selecting Yale offensive tackle Kiran Amegadjie with the No. 75 pick.

With what was expected to be their final pick of the draft, the Bears selected record-setting Iowa punter Tory Taylor. They used the highest pick on a punter in five years at No. 122 overall in the fourth round.

Taylor said he got this text from Williams on Saturday: “Hey, you’re not going to punt too much here.”

General manager Ryan Poles wasn’t satisfied with four total picks in this draft, so he made a deal with the Bills to add a fifth-round pick (No. 144) in exchange for a 2025 fourth-rounder. They used Buffalo’s pick to grab Kansas edge rusher Austin Booker.

Poles is known for addressing the offensive line, so it’s no surprise he did so with this pick. But with glaring holes at defensive tackle and defensive end, he went for boom or bust. Amegadjie (6-5 1/2, 323 pounds) has left tackle arm length (36 1/8) was a two-time All-Ivy League offensive lineman despite playing only four games in 2023 with a torn left quad.

Taylor, 26, was one of the most prolific punters in college football history with the honors and numbers to match. The native Australian’s career average of 46.3 yards per punt is the best in NCAA history for anyone with more than 250 punts. — Scott Dochterman

“The top-ranked specialist in the 2024 draft class, Taylor set an NCAA record with 4,479 punting yards in 2023, which earned him unanimous All-America honors and the Ray Guy Award. He also finished his career with the Iowa records for career punts (295) and punt yardage (13,657). Taylor has both the leg strength and accuracy to become one of the better punters in the NFL.”

The Bears had a clear need for a pass rusher beyond starters Montez Sweat and DeMarcus Walker . Booker, Brugler’s No. 78 overall prospect, had eight sacks and 12 tackles for loss last season. “Although he is still figuring out how and when to access his bag of tricks, Booker instinctively uses his rangy frame to create various leverage points and surprise blockers with his forceful hands,” Brugler wrote.

“Overall, Booker is lacking in body mass and overall experience (just 505 career college snaps), but he is an ascending player with the ability to maximize his athletic traits and body length/force with proper biomechanics. With his tools and instincts, he projects as a rotational player in Year 1 with the potential to become an impact starter.”

2024 NFL Draft: Predicting where Michael Pratt and other QB prospects will land during Day 3

A look at some top qb options with four rounds in the books.

The quarterback has always been the best most valuable position in football, and perhaps all of of sports, and the NFL's 32 teams have never made that fact more clear than they did in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft Thursday night. 

The 2024 first round made the following quarterback draft history according to CBS Sports Research: 

  • First draft with four quarterbacks in the first eight picks 
  • First draft with five quarterbacks in the first 10 picks
  • First draft with six quarterbacks in the top 12
  • Draft with shortest span of picks for six quarterbacks at any point in a draft (previous mark: 20 picks in 1992 from picks 211-230)

However, a number of teams still didn't come away with a new quarterback to develop, whether that's to play right away or sit and cook for a little while. Stunningly, the 2024 NFL Draft became just the third ever to have no quarterbacks taken in the second or third round, joining the 1983 and 1994 drafts. In fact, there were a record number of picks between QBs, with 138 picks separating Bo Nix going to the Broncos at No. 12 and Spencer Rattler joining the Saints at No. 150.

There are still some NFL squads who could still be suitors for new passers to add to their depth charts, such as the  New York Giants , Las Vegas Raiders ,  Seattle Seahawks and Los Angeles Rams , to name a few. 

Here is a closer look at seven of the top remaining options with a brief scouting report and possible NFL team fit.

  • Height:  6-2 1/2" |  Weight:  217 pounds
  • Hand Size:  9 1/4"
  • Accolades/notable statistics:  2023 AAC Offensive Player of the Year, Tulane all-time leader in pass yards (9,611), pass TD (90)

Michael Pratt helped lead the most successful two-year stretch of football in Tulane history with 12-2 2022 season that was capped off with a Cotton Bowl win over 2024 first overall draft quarterback Caleb Williams and USC plus an 11-3 campaign in 2023. Pratt threw an efficient 49 touchdowns to only 10 interceptions during the stretch, the 15th-best touchdown to interception ratio in the nation among 109 qualified in quarterbacks since 2022. That's pretty, pretty good.

He has smooth throwing mechanics, and does a good job of throwing with anticipation regularly in order to connect with targets in a way that sets them up for yards after the catch. Pratt is decent at moving up in the pocket to duck the first wave of a pass rush despite not being a jaw-dropping athlete. The cons are his passes on average as far as the zip on them, and he struggles going deep if he can't cleanly step into throws. Pratt will start his NFL career as a backup, but he may have the potential to be a starter if surrounded by the right supporting cast. 

Potential fit: Miami Dolphins

Neither Tua Tagovailoa nor Pratt are known for their arm talent, but both have found ways to succeed at high level despite that. The way both quarterbacks compensate for this knock is with football IQ and and middle-of-the-field, anticipatory throws. Tagovailoa enters the final year of his rookie deal in 2024, and he has history of injuries. Pratt could develop well under Mike McDaniel's tutelage and potentially be ready to play if the worst happens with Tagovailoa. 

  • Height:  6-2 |  Weight:  206 pounds
  • Accolades/notable statistics: 2021 Honorable Mention All-CUSA, 54% comp pct, 40 pass TD, 33 INT in career

Hardison became University of Texas-El Paso's starting quarterback in 2020, but he failed to put much on tape in his final collegiate season because he needed elbow surgery to fix a UCL ligament, just like San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy after the 2022 NFL season. The arm strength is there for Hardison, but he needs to improve in big way with anticipation and breaking down different coverages. He is at his best operating in a scheme that frequently utilizes run-pass option plays. 

The accuracy isn't quite there, but he has a live arm. Hardison just needed to become more refined. 

Potential fit: Green Bay Packers

NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported that the Packers hosted Hardison  for a visit back on April 17, and after seeing the work head coach and play-caller Matt LaFleur did in refining Jordan Love , Green Bay could be a landing spot for the UTEP alum. He of course would be brought in strictly to develop and push Sean Clifford for the backup quarterback job. Who knows, perhaps Hardison looks like a much different player after working in the Packers quarterback factory. 

  • Height:  6-1 |  Weight:  205 pounds
  • Accolades/notable statistics:  2022 SoCon Offensive Player of the Year (set school single-season pass TD record with 36)

After two years at Murray State and two years at Northwest Mississippi Community College, Michael Hiers broke out at Samford. He threw 36 touchdowns to only four interceptions in 2022, setting the school's single-season record for passing scores en route to leading the Bulldogs to a Southern Conference title. 

Hiers is quick on his feet in the pocket, which is mostly good, but he could stand to chill out and not bounce around as much. Accuracy is strongest attribute, competing 76.6% of his passes in 2022 and 71.3% of his throws in 2023. He throws with touch over the middle of the field, but his ball security needs work. Hiers combined for 12 interceptions and 22 fumbles in two years at Samford. He isn't a stunning athlete, but he has touch on his throws and his accurate. That could help keep Hiers' football career going for a few more years. 

Potential fit: Cincinnati Bengals

Cincy's roster is starting to get expensive with quarterback Joe Burrow on the biggest contract in the NFL from an average-per-year standpoint (five years, $275 million), and Ja'Marr Chase's extension looming on the horizon. Backup quarterback Jake Browning , who started seven games after Burrow's season-ending injury, is in a contract year in 2024. Hiers could be a cheap backup option who could learn a few things from Burrow and head coach/play-caller Zac Taylor. An accurate backup is ideal, and Hiers is that. 

  • Height:  6-1 |  Weight:  215 pounds
  • Hand Size:  9 1/2"
  • Accolades/notable statistics:  2021 Honorable Mention All-ACC, set NC State school single-season pass TD record (35) in 2021

Devin Leary has a rocket launcher for an arm, and he has a tight, quick throwing motion, which allows him to utilize his arm strength regularly. He can also throw these deeper passes downfield. Leary regularly throws with a anticipation and can throw on the run. He is slightly undersized, but he does have a strong build. 

Accuracy is the big question after registering completion percentages of 61.1% and 56.3% in his last two seasons of college football. Leary needs to do a better job of knowing when to dial up the heater and when to loft a more softly thrown ball. He can also speed through his route progressions and miss his third option, preventing him from finding a bigger gain. Leary threw an SEC-most 12 interceptions while also having seven fumbles last season. That's not great, and he isn't exactly a developmental prospect as Leary turns 25 on Sept. 10. 

Potential fit: New York Giants

The Giants need a new quarterback. Daniel Jones regressed in 2023 (two touchdowns to six interceptions in six starts) prior to tearing his ACL. The 2022 magical run where he registered the lowest interception rate (1.1%) in the league looks to be an outlier and not the real Daniel Jones. 

Giants head coach Brian Daboll clearly doesn't trust him to air it out: Jones' 6.5 air yards per pass attempt are the second lowest in the NFL since 2022, when Daboll was hired. New York just drafted perhaps the most electric receiver in the 2024 draft in LSU's Malik Nabers. Why not pick up a strong-armed passer and see what he can do in training camp?

  • Hand Size:  9 3/8"*

Carter Bradley has an NFL body with better than average arm strength, which allows him to connects on passes to all parts of the field. Bradley does a good job of reading his route concepts and diagnosing what's open and what not. His mechanics are in synch, and does a pretty good job of avoiding sacks. He is the son of former NFL head coach Gus Bradley, so his football IQ is strong. 

However, he can get off balance at times when throwing, and his release needs to be more efficient, so that he can get the football out faster. Bradley also isn't very mobile. He is inconsistent, which means he likely won't have too many chances to prove himself in the NFL. 

Potential fit: Los Angeles Rams

Matthew Stafford is 36 and much closer to the end of his football journey than the beginning. Bradley learning in a quarterback room with Stafford and head coach Sean McVay would be an ideal place to incubate while ironing out the inconsistencies in his game. Perhaps he is ready to be a real deal NFL quarterback after a couple years in this football ecosystem.

On its way out of the picture for good, the Pac-12 had a remarkably good showing at the 2024 NFL Draft. Despite being the conference that lost by far the most of its membership in college football's recent conference realignment, the West Coast league produced six of the first 15 selections made.

Former USC quarterback Caleb Williams led the way as the No. 1 overall pick to the Chicago Bears, kicking off what became the Pac-12's best showing at the NFL Draft since 2015, when the conference had nine players chosen. This year, it trailed only the SEC in Round 1 selections.

Washington paced the Pac-12, coming off its historic season that resulted in a College Football Playoff berth and national championship game appearance. Former Huskies quarterback Michael Penix, Jr. was a surprise pick of sorts at No. 8 to the Atlanta Falcons, while wide receiver Rome Odunze followed to the Bears at No. 9.

Offensive tackle Troy Fautanu was Washington's third player taken in the opening round after being called at No. 20 by the Pittsburgh Steelers. Alabama and LSU were the other schools with three players taken in Round 1.

Jim Harbaugh, Chargers selections in 2024 NFL Draft: Latest updates as Los Angeles makes its picks

After leading Michigan to its first national championship title in over 25 years, Jim Harbaugh is back in the NFL and building a roster through the draft once again.

From Michigan fans' perspective, this year's NFL draft is an intriguing one for several reasons. The Wolverines, who have 18 eligible players in their 2024 class, also have a legitimate chance of breaking Georgia's NFL draft record of 15 players taken in one draft.

The other reason to watch this week's draft relates to the team's former coach. Prophecies came to pass on Friday, when Harbaugh and the Chargers selected Michigan linebacker Junior Colson at No. 69 overall.

NFL.com's Chad Reuter believed Harbaugh would draft his former running back Blake Corum in the second round after the Chargers did not re-sign Austin Ekeler this offseason. Corum, however, ended up being drafted by the Chargers.

Meanwhile, Chargers Wire's Alex Katson successfully predicted the Chargers to take linebacker Junior Colson in the third round.
