How to Start Profitable Sugarcane Juice Business; Complete Details Here

This article will offer you with all of the information you need to start a sugarcane juice business, including a sugarcane business plan, a sugarcane business idea, and the essential items you'll need.

Sugarcane Juice

You've probably had a taste of the healthful sugarcane juice and know how tasty it is. Why don't you consider turning sugarcane juice  into a business model? Sugarcane juice is not only healthy, but it is also popular, therefore it can be converted into a lucrative business to begin with.

Market demand for sugarcane

Sugarcane juice, like ice cream, has the biggest demand on the market during the summer. Not just in the summer, but also throughout the year due to its nutritional value, few people consume it. During the summer, there are more sugarcane juice stores in the market, attracting the majority of the population.

A sugarcane juice business requires certain licenses, authorisations, and registration

If you want to open a shop in one location, you will need to obtain all of the licenses stated below:

Firm registration: In order to operate a sugarcane juice business in India, you must first register your company.

Registration for the GST: In India, a GST number is required for every type of business.

A trade license: You must also obtain a trade license from the local authorities in accordance with state regulations.

Certificate of pollution: You'll also need a letter of approval from the local government confirming that the sugarcane juice business solely produces sugarcane trash.

Registration as an MSME/SSI: According to the Government of India, this registration is essential to obtain a loan.

Trademark: If you wish to register your business trademark, you must first register your business trade.

Registration with the FSSAI: The Food Safety and Standard Authority of India (FSSAI) license is required because it relates to the food industry.

Ingredients for making sugarcane juice:

Add the following items to the sugarcane juice to make it more flavorful:

Mint leaves

Sugarcane juice machine:

To extract the juice from sugarcane, you'll need to get a sugarcane juice extraction machine that runs on electricity. An automatic sugarcane juice extracting machine is what this machine is called. There's also a battery-operated gadget that requires you to spin the wheel to turn it on. A semi-automatic sugarcane machine is what this machine is called. Sugarcane extracting machines are readily available on the market. Sugarcane extracting machines are also available for purchase through online retailers.

The price of sugarcane extraction equipment ranges between Rs 15,000 and Rs 50,000. The cost is determined by the machine's efficiency. If you decide to get an automatic sugarcane juice extracting machine, it will be more expensive than other options.

Sugarcane juice production method

Making sugarcane juice is a simple and straightforward method.

To begin, clean the sugarcane and thoroughly wash them to remove any dirt or dust. The sugarcane must next be peeled before being placed in a machine to extract the juice.

After you've placed the sugarcane in the machine, turn it on. You must extract the juice by placing three to five sugarcane in it at the same time and extracting the juice.

The juice can then be collected automatically by placing the jar in the machine's outlet at the bottom.

Lemon, ginger, and peppermint can be added at the same time as the sugarcanes, or after the juice has been extracted. You'll also need to add the black salt and mint leaves to finish.

Selling price:  Depending on the quantity of juice sold, you can charge Rs. 5 or Rs. 10 per glass, or Rs. 15 or Rs. 20 per glass.

What is the best way to start a sugarcane juice business?

Set up your store:

There are two ways to get into the sugarcane juice business. You can rent a shop and set up the sugarcane juice extracting machine and other necessary equipment in it, then begin making and selling sugarcane juice.

Street vendor ship:

You can even put up a stall on the side of the road near a populated location and sell the juice there. You can choose from a wide range of stalls in the market. You can fix the machine after you receive the stall. You can put everything in that stall, including sugarcanes, glasses, and other items, in the space provided.

Starting a sugarcane juice business costs or requires an investment

You must pay the rent for the shop you rented on a monthly basis. If you rent a shop near the market, it will be more expensive, but if you rent it in a congested area, it will be less expensive. However, you must first obtain authorisation from the municipality. Remember that if you don't set up your stall in one location, you won't need to ask for permission. The cost of starting a business ranges from Rs. 50,000 to Rs. 1,00,000. The price varies depending on the sort of machine you want to purchase.

Profits from sugarcane juice business

It is more profitable to keep a shop because you will not have to shift the location frequently. You can earn perks such as loyal clients if you keep the shop open.

How To Start a Profitable Sugarcane Juice Business

  • July 4, 2023
  • by Next What Business Research Team

Sugarcane juice is a popular and refreshing beverage consumed by people of all ages in India. If you have a passion for providing healthy and natural drinks to your customers, starting a sugarcane juice business can be a lucrative venture. This article serves as a comprehensive guide to help you understand the key steps involved in setting up a successful sugarcane juice business.

Here are the 11 Steps to Start Sugarcane Juice Business

1. conduct market research.

Before starting any business, it is essential to conduct thorough market research . Analyze the demand for sugarcane juice in your target market, and identify potential customers such as local communities, tourists, and health-conscious individuals. Study the competition, pricing dynamics, and consumer preferences to identify unique selling points and market positioning strategies for your business.

2. Legal and Regulatory Compliance

Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements for starting a food and beverage business. This includes obtaining necessary permits and licenses, such as the FSSAI (Food Safety and Standards Authority of India) license, adhering to hygiene and safety standards, and meeting labeling and packaging regulations. Consult with local authorities and legal professionals to understand the specific regulations governing the sugarcane juice business in your region.

Additionally, you have to obtain a Trade License from the local Municipal Authority in the name of your business. Apply online for Udyog Aadhaar registration . Open a current bank account. Additionally, apply for permission under the Shops & Establishments Act.

3. Store or Kiosk Setup

Set up a well-equipped infrastructure to support your sugarcane juice business. This includes finding a suitable location for your juice bar or stall, installing a commercial sugarcane juicer machine, and setting up a clean and hygienic workspace. Ensure the availability of electricity, water supply, and proper drainage facilities.

Generally, shopping malls, big offices, IT hubs, airports, and multiplexes are the best destinations for kiosk operations. The retail space must have electricity, a water supply, and a wide front area for attracting the audience.

4. Procure Machinery & Equipment

According to your store size and market potential, you have to procure the equipment and machinery. The most important machine is the sugar cane grinding machine. Nowadays, there are two options readily available in the market. One is a manual machine and another is an automatic sugar cane grinding machine.

Basically, the manual machine requires hard effort and it doesn’t demand any electricity or fuel. The automatic machines run either on diesel or electricity. It operates smoothly and you can get large quantity output from this machine. Additionally, some of these automatic machines come with an automatic cooling system. Therefore, you can serve chilled fresh juice directly from the machine.

Apart from the sugar cane grinding machine, you have to procure other utensils like glasses, spoons, racks, etc. And if you go with a manual machine, then you must have a refrigerator for the continuous supply of ice.

5. Source High-Quality Sugarcane

Identify reliable suppliers of fresh and high-quality sugarcane. Establish relationships with local farmers or wholesalers who can provide you with a steady supply of sugarcane throughout the year. Ensure that the sugarcane is free from pesticides and other contaminants.

6. Have a Financial Plan

According to your investment capacity, you have to craft a financial plan. First of all, list down the costs of establishing the shop. Broadly, it includes store rent, machinery and equipment cost, utility bills, manpower cost, and other admin expenses including marketing and promotion.

Basically, the amount of monthly rent hugely varies from place to place. Definitely, the cost of a 100 Sq Ft area in a metropolitan city is much higher than in a small town. If you have your own capital to invest, it is fine. Otherwise, you can apply for a loan to your nearby banks.

After having a specific cost calculation, project monthly sales and revenue earnings. Finally, calculate the gross and net profit, ROI, and break even. Basically, a financial plan is important not only for applying for a loan, but it will also help you in operating the business smoothly.

7. Juice Extraction and Preparation

Invest in a commercial sugarcane juicer machine capable of extracting juice efficiently. Train your staff on proper juice extraction techniques and hygiene practices. You can enhance the taste and appeal of your sugarcane juice by adding optional flavors such as lemon, ginger, or mint.

8. Hygiene and Food Safety

Maintain strict hygiene and food safety practices in your sugarcane juice business. Clean and sanitize all equipment and utensils regularly. Ensure that the juicing area is free from any contamination. Use clean and food-grade packaging materials for serving and ensure proper storage and refrigeration of the juice.

9. Menu and Pricing

Create a menu that offers variations of sugarcane juice, such as with added flavors or combinations with other fruits. Experiment with different recipes to cater to various customer preferences. Set competitive pricing based on the cost of ingredients, overhead expenses, and market demand.

10. Hire Employee

If you procure an automatic machine, you can operate the store with only one employee. However, the requirement for the number of employees depends on the overall space of the shop and the number of clients you serve regularly.

In any retail business, employees play an important role in the overall success of the business. Hire an experienced and skilled employee. Also, arrange some training and orientation programs for him or her. Moreover, serving tasty fresh juice with a smiling face is the primary aspect of getting the overall success of this business.

11. Promotion & Expansion

No business becomes successful without promotion. You must have a marketing plan with an effective sales promotion strategy. And in a small business, you must put your creative thoughts. Select a catchy and attractive name for your business. Fix a good storefront sign on the outer wall of your shop. Give your employee a uniform with the company name and logo. Also, you can offer some introductory discounts on the launching days of your store.

Abstract: India is the second largest producer of sugarcane in the world. Hence the sugarcane juice can be a good raw material for the production of ethanol in our country. Ethanol is primarily used for potable purpose, for the production of various chemicals and in blending with petrol and diesel. Lab scale fermentation of sugarcane juice was carried out using yeast species saccharomyces cerevecia. The fermentation was carried out in different batches with varying sugar concentration. The obtained results are tabulated. Inversion of sugarcane juice was done prior to the fermentation and the results obtained were compared with the results obtained from fermentation non pre-inverted sugarcane juice. This showed a marked difference in the fermentation time for the same conversion. The comparison of process of production of ethanol from sugarcane juice and molasses s also made and the probable process modification for shift of molasses based distilleries to juice based distilleries is proposed. Keywords: Saccharomyces cerevecia, Inversion, Fermentation

The search for alternative methods to replace sulfur in the sugarcane juice clarification step has been increasing. The sulfur dioxide (SO2) produced in the combustion of sulfur is toxic and can cause environmental problems and risks to human health. This work aimed to analyze scientific articles on alternative methods to sulfitation published between 2011 and 2021, based on searches in the Portal de Periódicos Capes, Scielo and Web of Science. Among the 434 researched scientific articles, 296 were repeated and 138 were unique, of which 94 had the text available in full and 44, unavailable. Thirty were selected to compose this review, for reporting on alternative methods of clarification: carbonation (4), ozonation (6), peroxidation (5), microfiltration (6), natural flocculants (5), bagasse fly ash (1), centrifugation (1), lime, bentonite and activated carbon (1), lime saccharate, ammonium hydroxide (NH4OH) and sodium hydroxide (NaOH) (1). All methods proved to be effective and less polluting, in addition to reducing the consumption of chemical reagents.

Two types of cane juice extraction systems have been developed through research efforts to extract sugarcane juice in the small scale sugar processing technology in Nigeria. The first type of juice extraction system that was developed is the roller model where whole sugar cane stalks of 3 to 4 are fed into rotating rollers to extract juice from the canes. The two juice extraction systems were roller cane crusher and cane cutter/juice expeller. About 1000 kg of approximated quantities of sugar cane samples in three replications were crushed to extract the juice in each juice extraction system. The brix of the juice and quantity collected were recorded and weighed for each sample. The baggasse were subjected to sun and oven drying in order to expel the remaining moisture. The weight of moisture left in the baggasse, juice extraction efficiencies and machine capacities were computed in order to determine the process parameters. Results indicated that the cane juice cutter and expeller ...

10 Tips For Creating A Winning Business Plan In Powerpoint

Welcome to our guide on creating a successful sugarcane juice business plan! If you're looking to start your own sugarcane juice business, having a well-thought-out plan is crucial for success. A business plan not only helps you stay organized and focused, but it also serves as a roadmap for achieving your goals and attracting potential investors.

Before diving into the details of your business plan, it's important to have a clear understanding of your target market. Who will be your primary customers? Are you targeting health-conscious individuals, families, or tourists? Knowing your target market will help you tailor your business plan and marketing strategies accordingly.

Next, you'll need to consider the location of your sugarcane juice business. Will you be setting up a physical storefront or operating as a mobile vendor? If you're planning on having a storefront, consider the foot traffic and competition in the area. If you're planning on being a mobile vendor, research events and festivals in your area that would be a good fit for your business.

Another important aspect of your business plan is your pricing strategy. You'll need to determine the cost of your ingredients, equipment, and labor, and then decide on a markup that will allow you to make a profit while remaining competitive in the market. Consider offering different sizes or add-ons to provide customers with options and increase your revenue.

Your business plan should also include a detailed marketing strategy. How will you promote your business and attract customers? This could include social media marketing, partnering with local businesses, or offering promotions and discounts. It's important to have a strong online presence and utilize various marketing channels to reach your target market.

In addition to your marketing strategy, you'll also need to have a solid financial plan. This should include your startup costs, projected revenue and expenses, and a break-even analysis. It's important to have a realistic understanding of your financials to ensure the sustainability of your business.

Lastly, your business plan should include a section on your team and operations. Who will be involved in the day-to-day operations of your business? What roles and responsibilities will each team member have? How will you ensure smooth and efficient operations? These are all important factors to consider and include in your business plan.

Creating a professional and visually appealing business plan can be made easier with the use of a PowerPoint presentation. This allows you to present your ideas and strategies in a clear and organized manner. Be sure to include visuals such as graphs, charts, and images to enhance your presentation and make it more engaging.

In conclusion, a well-crafted business plan is essential for starting and running a successful sugarcane juice business. It serves as a roadmap for achieving your goals and attracting potential investors. By considering your target market, location, pricing, marketing, finances, and operations, you can create a comprehensive business plan that will set you up for success. Good luck on your sugarcane juice business journey!

Sugarcane Farming Business Plan [Sample Template]

By: Author Tony Martins Ajaero

Home » Business Plans » Agriculture Sector

Do you want to start a sugarcane farm and need to write a business plan ? If YES, here is a sample sugarcane farming business plan template & feasibility report.

Sugarcane farming is known to be a profitable business and over the years, it has evolved from uncoordinated to a global industry in most countries where it’s carried out. But it comes with its own fair share of challenges. An aspiring entrepreneur can either choose to start a sugarcane farm on a small or large scale depending on their financial status.

A Sample Sugarcane Farming Business Plan Template

1. industry overview.

Farmers in the Sugarcane Harvesting industry primarily grow sugarcane, a tall tropical grass originating in Southeast Asia. Scientifically known as Saccharum officinarum, its thick stems are a major commercial source of sugar.

Statistics has it that in the united states of America alone, there are about 635 licensed and registered sugarcane farms responsible for employing about 4,026 employees and the industry rakes in a whooping sum of $1 billion annually with an annual growth rate projected at -1.0 percent between 2014 and 2019.

United States Sugar Corporation is the company that has the lion share of the available market in the sugarcane harvesting industry in the United States of America. A recent report published by IBISWorld estimates that industry revenue increased at an annual rate of 3.9 percent over the five years to 2010 to $1.0 billion.

However, revenue has been subject to dramatic spikes and drops in recent years due to unpredictable weather conditions. In 2005, for example, an unusually active hurricane season battered the Southeast United States, damaging Florida and Louisiana sugarcane crops. Revenue declined significantly that year as a result.

Conversely, in 2010, heavy rainfall in Brazil (the world’s largest sugar producer) and a drought in india (the second-largest producer) depleted the global sugar supply and propelled demand for US sugar producers and, in turn, US sugarcane farmers. Consequently, industry revenue rose at a double-digit pace in 2010.

Fortuitous weather conditions aside, the industry has long suffered from competition from sugar substitutes. The amount of sugar and other caloric sweeteners consumed by the average American has declined from 2005 to 2010. Focus on personal health has taken center stage, limiting consumers’ demand for sweeteners and encouraging them to opt instead for no-calorie substitutes.

Furthermore, though the level sugarcane imports is negligible, downstream industries including sugar processors have been experiencing an influx of lower-cost sugar imports. Processors and downstream markets are increasingly using these imports in place of domestically produced sugar to cut input costs, which are inflated due to protectionist US government policies.

With the recent advancement in technology, farmers can now comfortably grow crops such as sugarcane in a country where such crops can hardly survive and in places where there are few farming lands.

One thing is certain when it comes to commercial sugarcane farming, if you are able to conduct your market research and feasibility studies before choosing a location for cultivating your sugarcane, you are more likely not going to struggle to grow the sugarcane farming business because there are always food processing companies and consumers out there who are ready to buy from you.

Lastly, with commercial sugarcane farming it will pay you not to only cultivate sugarcane, but to also start a complimentary business such as sugarcane processing plant; producing and packaging sugar. The bottom line is that if you have enough farmland (space) and you are interested in maximizing commercial sugarcane farming, you are sure going to make huge profits from the business.

6. SWOT Analysis

Edward Jones® Sugarcane Farms, Inc. do not intend to launch out with trial and error hence the need to conduct a proper SWOT analysis. We know that if we get it right from the onset, we would have succeeded in creating the foundation that will help us build a standard sugarcane farm that will favorably compete with leading farms in the United States of America.

We are quite aware that there are several sugarcane farms all over Lake Mary – Florida and even in the same location where we intend locating ours, which is why we are following the due process of establishing a business.

We know that if a proper SWOT analysis is conducted for our business, we will be able to position our business to maximize our strength, leverage on the opportunities that will be available to us, mitigate our risks and be equipped to confront our threats.

Edward Jones® Sugarcane Farms, Inc. employed the services of an expert HR and Business Analyst with bias in the commercial farming industry to help us conduct a thorough SWOT analysis and to help us create a Business model that will help us achieve our business goals and objectives.

Here is a summary from the result of the SWOT analysis that was conducted on behalf of Edward Jones® Sugarcane Farms, Inc.;

Our strength as a sugarcane farm is the fact that we have healthy relationships with loads of major players in the industry; both suppliers and buyers within and outside of the United States.

We have some of the latest commercial farming machines, tools and sugarcane processing equipment that will help us cultivate sugarcane in commercial quantities with less stress. Aside from our relationship (network) and equipment, we can confidently boast that we have some the most experienced hands in Lake Mary – Florida in our payroll.

Our weakness could be that we are a new sugarcane farm in the United States, and perhaps the fact that we decided to diversify our farming activities could count against us initially. We are aware of this and from our projection will overcome this weakness with time and turn it to a major advantage for the business.

  • Opportunities:

Prices for sugarcane in the United States are partly regulated by government policy, which strives to match supply and demand. As a result, US prices are on average much higher than world prices, somewhat insulating farmers from volatility. The price of sugar is expected to increase in the coming year, presenting an opportunity for the industry.

Growth in per capita consumption of sugar increases demand for sugarcane. Over the past five years, as consumers have become more health-conscious, demand for caloric sweeteners (including sugar) has decreased. Per capita sugar and sweetener consumption is expected to increase slowly going forward. However, generally sluggish growth in sweetener consumption is likely to pose a threat to the industry.

7. MARKET ANALYSIS

  • Market Trends

One of the common trends in the Sugarcane Harvesting industry is that most players in the industry are no longer concentrating only on non – organic sugarcane farming. They now find it easier to run both organic and non – organic sugarcane cultivation. It is a fact that despite that organic foods are expensive, the sale is on the increase and it is indeed profitable.

Despite the fact that sugarcane farming has been in existence since time immemorial, it does not in any way make the industry to be over saturated; sugarcane farmers are exploring new technology to continue to improve the cultivation processes and also mechanized farming has indeed increased the tons of food produced by farmers.

The fact that there is always a ready market for sugarcane, raw sugar, liquid sugar and refined sugar et al makes the business highly thriving and profitable.

Lastly, it is a common trend to find standard sugarcane farmers run a sugarcane processing plant business alongside their farm. It is a means of maximizing profits in the business. Beside sugarcane can be consumed by both human and the waste products consumed by livestock hence it is an ideal business.

8. Our Target Market

The end consumer of sugarcane in any form and also those who benefits from the business value chain is all encompassing.

Almost every household consumes sugarcane in different forms. In essence a sugarcane farmer should be able to sell his or her farm produce to as many people as possible including production companies that make use of sugarcane as raw materials.

We will ensure that we position our business to attract consumers not just in the United States of America alone but also other parts of the world which is why we will be exporting some of our sugarcane, and raw sugar, liquid sugar and refined sugar to other countries of the world. We are in business to engage in wholesale distribution and to retail our sugar to the following groups of people;

  • Bakeries and confectioneries manufacturer
  • Soda drinks manufacturers
  • Snacks manufacturers
  • Manufacturing companies that make use of raw sugar
  • Everybody in our target market location

Our Competitive Advantage

Edward Jones® Sugarcane Farms, Inc. is fully aware that there are competitions when it comes to selling sugarcane, raw sugar, liquid sugar and refined sugar, which is why we decided to carry out thorough research so as to know how to take advantage of the available market in the United States and in other parts of the world.

We have done our homework and we have been able to highlight some factors that will give us competitive advantage in the marketplace. Another competitive advantage that we are bringing to the industry is the fact that we have designed our business in such a way that we will operate an all – round sugarcane farms that will also include a sugarcane processing plant.

With this, we will be able to produce sugarcane, raw sugar, liquid sugar and refined sugar and take advantage of all the available opportunities within the industry.

Lastly, our employees will be well taken care of, and their welfare package will be among the best within our category in the industry meaning that they will be more than willing to build the business with us and help deliver our set goals and achieve all our aims and objectives.

9. SALES AND MARKETING STRATEGY

  • Sources of Income

Edward Jones® Sugarcane Farms, Inc. is in the commercial farming business for the purpose of maximizing profits hence we have decided to explore all the available opportunities within the industry to achieve our corporate goals and objectives.

In essence we are not going to rely only on the sale of our farm produce to generate income for the business. Below are the sources we intend exploring to generate income for Edward Jones® Sugarcane Farms, Inc.;

  • Operating standard sugar processing plant where we will produce products such as raw sugar, liquid sugar and refined sugar.

10. Sales Forecast

We conducted a thorough market survey and feasibility studies and we were able to discover that the sales generated by a commercial farm depends on the size and the nature of the farm.

We have perfected or sales and marketing strategies and we are quite optimistic that we will meet or even surpass our set sales target of generating enough income/profits from the first year of operation and build the business from survival to sustainability.

We have been able to examine the agriculture industry cum sugarcane farm line business and we have analyzed our chances in the industry and we have been able to come up with the following sales forecast. The sales projections are based on information gathered on the field and some workable assumptions as well with respect to the nature of sugarcane farm that we run.

Below are the projections that we were able to come up with for the first three years of running Edward Jones® Sugarcane Farms, Inc.;

  • First Fiscal Year (FY1): $380,000
  • Second Fiscal Year (FY2): $600,000
  • Third Fiscal Year (FY3): $1.150 million

N.B : This projection was done based on what is obtainable in the industry and with the assumption that there won’t be any major economic meltdown that can impact negatively on household spending, bad weather cum natural disasters, and unfavorable government policies . Please note that the above projection might be lower and at the same time it might be higher.

  • Marketing Strategy and Sales Strategy

We are quite aware that the reason why some sugarcane farms hardly make good profits is their inability to sell off their harvested sugarcane as at when due. In view of that, we decided to set up a standard sugarcane processing plant to help us maximize profits.

Our sales and marketing team will be recruited base on their vast experience in the industry and they will be trained on a regular basis so as to be well equipped to meet their targets and the overall goal of the organization. In summary, Edward Jones® Sugarcane Farms, Inc. will adopt the following strategies in marketing our sugarcane farm produce;

  • Introduce our business by sending introductory letters alongside our brochure to stake holders in the food production industry et al.
  • Advertise our business in agriculture and food related magazines and websites
  • List our sugarcane farms on yellow pages ads
  • Attend related agriculture and food expos, seminars, and business fairs et al
  • Leverage on the internet to promote our business
  • Engage in direct marketing
  • Encourage the use of Word of mouth marketing (referrals)

11. Publicity and Advertising Strategy

Any business that wants to grow beyond the corner of the street or the city they are operating from must be ready and willing to utilize every available means to advertise and promote the business. We intend growing our business which is why we have perfected plans to build our brand via every available means.

Below are the platforms you can leverage on to boost our sugarcane farm brand and to promote and advertise our business;

  • Place adverts on both print (newspapers and magazines) and electronic media platforms
  • Sponsor relevant community based events/programs
  • Leverage on the internet and social media platforms like; Instagram, Facebook, twitter, YouTube, Google + et al to promote our business
  • Install our Billboards in strategic locations all around Lake Mary – Florida
  • Engage in roadshow from time to time in targeted neighborhoods to retail our sugarcane, raw sugar, liquid sugar and refined sugar et al
  • Distribute our fliers and handbills in target areas
  • List our sugarcane farms in local directories / yellow pages
  • Advertise our sugarcane farms in our official website and employ strategies that will help us pull traffic to the site.
  • Ensure that all our staff members wear our branded shirts and all our vehicles and trucks are well branded with our company logo et al.

12. Our Pricing Strategy

Some of the factors that will help you sell your sugarcane, raw sugar, liquid sugar and refined sugar at the right price that will guarantee that you make profits is dependent on your strategy while some of the factors are beyond your control.

For example, if the climatic condition is unfavorable and if there are natural disasters in the location where you have your sugarcane farm, then it will directly affect the harvest and also the prices of your farm produce.

In view of that, our prices will conform to what is obtainable in the industry but will ensure that within the first 6 to 12 months our sugarcane and raw sugar, liquid sugar and refined sugar are sold a little bit below the average prices in the United States of America. We have put in place business strategies that will help us run on low profits for a period of 6 months; it is a way of encouraging people to buy into our sugarcane farming business.

  • Payment Options

The payment policy adopted by Edward Jones® Sugarcane Farms, Inc. is all inclusive because we are quite aware that different customers prefer different payment options as it suits them but at the same time, we will ensure that we abide by the financial rules and regulation of the United States of America.

Here are the payment options that Edward Jones® Sugarcane Farms, Inc. will make available to her clients;

  • Payment via bank transfer
  • Payment with cash
  • Payment via online bank transfer
  • Payment via check
  • Payment via Point of Sale Machines (POS Machines)
  • Payment via mobile money transfer
  • Payment via bank draft

In view of the above, we have chosen banking platforms that will enable our clients make payment for sugarcane, raw sugar, liquid sugar and refined sugar purchase without any stress on their part. Our bank account numbers will be made available on our website and promotional materials.

13. Startup Expenditure (Budget)

When it comes to calculating the cost of starting a sugarcane farm with sugarcane processing plant, there are some key factors that should serve as a guide such as the capacity of the sugarcane processing plant you want to own and the size of the sugarcane farm.

In view of that, here are some of the basic areas we will spend our startup capital in setting up our sugarcane farm;

  • The total fee for incorporating the business in United States of America – $750.
  • The total cost for payment of insurance policy covers (general liability, workers’ compensation and property casualty) coverage at a total premium – $9,400
  • The amount needed to acquire / lease a farm land – $50,000
  • The amount required for preparing the farm land – $70,000
  • The cost for acquiring the required working tools and equipment / machines / fencing et al – $10,000
  • The amount required for purchase of the first set of sugarcane seedlings et al – $50,000
  • The amount required to set up a standard sugarcane processing plant within the farm facility – 100,000
  • Operational cost for the first 3 months (salaries of employees, payments of bills et al) – $40,000
  • The cost of launching an official website – $600
  • The amount required for payment of workers for a period of 3 months – $60,000
  • Additional Expenditure (Business cards, Signage, Adverts and Promotions et al) – $2,000

Going by the report from detailed research and feasibility studies conducted, we will need an average of four hundred and fifty thousand dollars ($450,000) to start a standard sugarcane farm with a sugarcane processing plant in the United States of America.

These are some of the equipment that we would need to launch our sugarcane farm,

  • Soil cultivator
  • Harrow (e.g. Spike harrow, Drag harrow, Disk harrow)
  • Stone / Rock / Debris removal
  • Plastic mulch layer
  • Transplanter
  • Sprinkler system irrigation
  • Wheel Barrow

Basically, the nature of sugarcane farms does not require an office space, most people that run commercial farms operate directly from their farms. But we have decided to open a small liaison office; a place where administrative jobs will be carried out on behalf of the business.
