Below, we have provided a City Life Vs Village Life essay comprising about 500 words and a brief composition comprising 100-150 words on the topic, in English.

Long Essay on City Life Vs Village Life in English 500 Words

Long Essay on City Life Vs Village Life is usually given to classes 7, 8, 9, and 10.

Rural and urban lives are different, and their difference makes them unique and beautiful. Life in villages is more straightforward, while urban life offers various complicated aspects. Their smaller geographic or territorial extension primarily identifies rural life. A village is significantly lower than in a city. Thus, primary relations exist between people. Primary relationships refer to the ones that are made directly. People in villages know each other by their names and faces. They talk to them directly.

A city is a larger area, and people can’t know each other directly in cities. People living in cities have their circles of primary relationships, but mostly, the relationship that they share with other citizens is secondary or indirect. Village life is simpler. The primary profession is agriculture, and most people work in fields.

They are a group of hard-working farmers who know the hardships of life. They toil without luxuries and struggle to provide food for their families twice a day. Apart from agriculture, people also practice weaving, pottery, and set up small scale industries like cotton, jute, etc. People mostly have common occupations, and the range of professions is comparatively narrow.

Urban life, on the other hand, comes with a varied range of professions. There is no one crucial occupation. Every job receives appropriate attention, and people have a vast choice of occupations. Village life comes with inevitable social control. People who commit crimes in villages are subjected to social isolation and are shunned by others.

Power via folkways and mores is more prevalent than control via established decrees. The accused becomes a subject of gossip and ridicule. For example, if a man comes home drunk and causes chaos, he is shunned by other villagers. Presenting the accused before Panchayat also pretty much leads to the same consequences.

Urban life is controlled by-laws and codes. Folkways and mores, along with social isolation, do not play a key role in social control. In cities, the person who commits sins is directly presented in front of judges or police if a man gets drunk and hits his wife, domestic violence if filed against him. Village life is not as affected by pollution as urban life is. There are fewer automobiles in villages, and there is an absence of significant industrial sectors. Thus, air pollution is lower, and the air is purer. Village life offers a cleaner and greener environment.

Therefore, people living in cities go to villages during their holidays to take a break from the polluted and contaminated urban environment. Cities, being more technologically and scientifically advanced, have a higher rate of cars and buses. The factories emit poisonous gases into the atmosphere, and there is a lack of fresh air in cities. Higher rates of pollution often make urban life suffocating and congested.

Both the cities and villages have their differences and advantages. Village life is more robust due to the necessary facilities like schools and hospitals being far away. But, we must acknowledge both and choose what suits our needs.

10 Lines on City Life Vs Village Life in English

Short Essay on City Life Vs Village Life in English 150 words

Short Essay on City Life Vs Village Life is usually given to classes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6.

Examining the different and contradictory topics always end in evaluating the pros and cons of both sides. Village life, while offering fresh air and oxygen, comes with several difficulties. Hospitals and medical facilities are not readily available. This often makes life difficult for patients suffering from serious diseases. Village life offers close relationships between individuals, but the dogmatic and conservative mindset holds back progress and the light of education from penetrating their minds.

Urban life has better facilities. Education is more prevalent, and thus, progress happens faster. Cities are more advanced and have better standards of living. But, the lack of understanding between people leads to less or almost no cordial relations. People in cities are so engrossed in their race towards success and power that they forget to take care of their loved ones. we will soonly update City Life Vs Village Life Essay in Hindi, Kannada, Tamil, and Gujarati.

10 Lines on City Life Vs Village Life in English

  • Urban life is characterized by competition and success. People have forgotten to take care of each other.
  • In an urban setup, laws play a critical role in discipline and system. Thus, criminals are rightly punished.
  • The division of labor does not characterize rural life. Here, everyone who does their work is not adequately trained in it. Thus, the quality of the work is low.
  • The division of labor is prevalent in cities. Trained people do their part of the job. Thus, the output is more significant and better.
  • The dogmatic and conservative mindset of villagers often leads to injustice. Sexist rules like women cannot access education hold the entire society back from progressing.
  • Urban people are less superstitious and religious. But, sexism continues to exist in its dormant form in our society.
  • Village life is based on religious and superstitious beliefs like if they do not pray to the God of harvest, their crops will fail.

Living in a City: Advantages and Disadvantages

People are usually faced with different options when deciding on where to live. That is do they want to live in the city or would they prefer to live in the suburbs where it is more peaceful. The essay that follows intends to show the advantages and disadvantages of city life. Before someone settles down, one has to consider the life that he or she prefers. The essay will give comparison and contrast between the advantages and disadvantages of city life.

There are certain advantages that come with life in the city. One of the biggest advantages that life in the city presents is the ease in the accessibility of educational institutions, business centers and trade. A critical analysis of city life shows that most educational institutions are located in the city. Majority of colleges and universities are located in the city. This causes students who live outside the city tom incur transport costs everyday so that they can reach their educational institutions.

Another advantage that comes with city life is that no transport costs are incurred. This is because business centers are located in the city. Schools are also in the city and the two distances between school and home or work and home is just a walking distance. This helps to save the costs of transport that would otherwise have been incurred if the person had been living far from the city. There is little or no driving involved simply because the supermarket is just around the corner. There is provision of public transportation as a way of cutting down on the fumes being released in the atmosphere.

The close proximity of these educational institutions and work places also saves time. The time that would have been wasted in trying to connect the two areas is saved. Living in the city therefore helps to save the time that would have been otherwise wasted in commuting.

Those people living in the city can also reduce expenses. The money that would have otherwise have been used in eating at a hotel is saved. Living in the city enables one to go home during lunch and eat there rather than eating at a hotel. Those living away from the city have to incur the expenses of eating out in hotels and this entails big spending even though it is affordable.

There are also disadvantages that come with living in the city. One of them is the high crime rate that exists in the city. This can be attributed to the fact that a variety of all sorts of people is found in the city.

Another problem present in the city is the pollution rate. Even though the number of vehicles is greatly reduced, there is wide spread pollution due to the numerous numbers of industries that are present in the city.

The presence of buildings everywhere in the city is another problem that is faced in the city. All the trees are cut down to provide rental space and therefore little fresh air can be found in the city. Life in the suburbs is great as there is plenty of land and trees are everywhere. This provides a serene environment where there is plenty of fresh air to be enjoyed as compared to the city where almost every space is filled up with buildings.

One of the benefits of suburban life is the privacy that is experienced by the people living in this place. This sort of privacy enables people to get to know each other as compared to the city where people are always too busy with their lives to want to know even who their next neighbor is.

One disadvantage of suburban life is the fact that taxation is scarce and therefore the social amenities are not adequately advanced or equipped. Comparing this to life in the city shows, that taxation in the city is high and therefore there are adequate funds make equipping public places such as libraries easy.

A comparison between the city and the suburbs shows that both places experience crimes. Though the city has higher incidences of crime and violence, the suburbs also receive their own fair share of crimes. This one thing is common to both city life and suburban life.

To conclude, both the city and suburbs have their own advantages and disadvantages. Both of them experience violence and crime. Pollution rate is high in the city while there is plenty of fresh air in the suburbs where trees exist in great numbers. Since both places have their own pros and cons, the choice of where to stay depends mainly on a person’s lifestyle and preferences.

Advantages and Disadvantages of City Life and Village Life

Educational institution.

In villages, most of the people are farmers they work hard in the field to earn their bread and butter. Farming is their ancestral occupation father is a farmer his son also becomes a farmer and this tradition continues generation by generation. Hence people in the village don,t give much importance to education in the village.

The school and colleges in the village are not of high standards, on the other hand, people in cities are middle-class people they give more importance to education than any other thing in their life. They think that good education will give their children a better safe and secure tomorrow.

In cities, there are abundant government and private schools to impart quality education. Cities also have a large number of colleges and universities to take care of higher education. Villages lag much behind cities in the case of educational facilities.

Medical and Health Services

The cities have the best medical facilities for their citizens. The cities are flooded with various private and government hospitals and pharmacies. In these hospitals, qualified doctors are employed to serve the people. Villages do not have a well-equipped hospital and qualified medical staff. This is also the most important demerit of village life.

Entertainment and Recreation

The cities have Entertainment zones like cinema halls and multiplexes where we can enjoy ourselves with our friends. The cities have recreation points like a zoo and garden where we can spend our leisure time. In the case of villages, people only go to temples to spend their leisure time and find peace. Villages don’t have cinema halls, multiplexes, zoo and garden villages lack such facilities.

The opportunity of Employment

The cities provide more private and government jobs to their natives. In a city, one can easily engage in small businesses or private jobs. The population of the city is more than villages hence people have more needs and demands in the city which give rise to more jobs. In villages, the population is very less. Lesser people have don’t have more needs hence the opportunity of employment is very less in the village as compared to the city.

Natural Environment

Villages are surrounded by farms and huge trees. The people in the village use bullock kart or cycle to travel because they are less expensive hence air pollution in the village is very less. The air in the village is oxygen reach and free of pollutants. Villages have natural beauty, flowers, butterflies, and birds.

On the other hand, cities have more automobiles on the road which results in tremendous air pollution. The cities have very few trees. The air in the city is full of pollutants. The traffic jams in the city give rise to noise pollution. Hence in general we can say that villages have a healthy natural environment and cities have an unhealthy natural environment.

Population and other problems

people in the city have a very hectic life they have to travel long distances from home to reach the job site. Due to the large population, they don’t even find a seat in local rails and buses. The overcrowded city has the problem of accommodation people have to live in small houses.

In cities, people live like strangers they don’t have much time to talk to each other. In the village, people live a very simple life they share each other’s feelings while at work. They don,t have to travel long distances to reach jobs they have their own mean of transport like a bullock cart. Or bicycle. Our cities are also in danger of facing terror attacks Villages don’t have such a problem but property dispute and casteism are common issues in villages.

Superstition

The people in the village are not much educated and they are very religious. People in cities are well educated and they don’t believe in superstition. Superstition and blind faith in God is a common problem in Indian villages

City life and village life have their own advantages and disadvantages. I personally think that we can remove drawbacks of village life in the same way drawbacks of city life by taking proper action and measures. If we provide all the facilities in the city to people in the village then it will decrease the pressure on cities of holding extra population and then we can improve both city and village life.
